Three settings 1000 lumens top, eco lighting for night light plus distress signalling. Works on 3 D size batteries which have shown no decrease so far. Used for security checks late at night. Economical & useful.
Nice and brigh
Reviewed 26 December 2022. I’m happy with the brightness. Not sure about battery life, I’ve not had them long enough to need replacing the batteries. The battery cover is fiddly to fit. Needs accurate and firm treatment. I can see this being the first thing to break if the user isn’t careful.
If you have it at half brightness or less it lasts for days and days. I bought two of them and loads of other lights for power cuts. These are the best. Buy a stock of the Big D type batteries (2 for a pack of 2 Energizer on Amazon) and you will have light whenever you want. I strongly recommend this lantern. The warm white is also great. I leave mine on all night downstairs on a low setting. It lasted 9 days on a trial and that is lowish brightness 24/7.
You can hang it either way up too with the hanging brackets
It’s a beauty
Excellent brightness (not dazzling,) with a good 360 degree beam, dimmable, sturdy, certainly not lightweight – but not too heavy either. It has a nice solid feel that won’t be knocked over easily. I’m very pleased with this lantern as it very clearly lights up each medium sized room that I’ve tried it in extremely well in the dark.
I plan to only use it during a blackout as I calculated that it would be expensive to frequently replace even the cheapest of batteries – and not very environmental, although disposable batteries can still be recycled in most supermarkets. Having batteries stored in a safe battery case (most batteries have a shelf life of 10 years,) is a guaranteed way of having light during blackouts or an emergency.
I also bought a few rechargeable lanterns of a similar style (they’re much more lightweight by the way,) incase of blackouts, but mainly so I can use the rechargeable versions each evening to save on electricity bills. ( I use a solar panel attached to power banks, then use the stored energy in the power banks to recharge the rechargable lantern versions.)
The problem I find with the rechargeable lantern versions though is they usually need recharging every 3-5 hours – which is fine if there’s one or two backup lanterns to use whilst the other is recharging, electricity available, or enough power stored in a power bank to recharge them – but what if there isn’t?
That’s why I bought this battery powered version and spare D batteries, (it can’t be used with rechargable batteries unfortunately,) as a guaranteed way of having light during a power cut if the other recharargeable lanterns run out of power first.
I find it difuses more light in the room with the lampshade detached. I like it placed on top of a sturdy and tall cabinet as an uplighter, (it’s softer on my eyes being placed above my eye level and the light is not glaring down on me either as it would be if it’s hung on the ceiling with the hook on the bottom,) and it still lights up the entire room very clearly and beautifully sitting securely on top of my cabinet with the lampshade detached as an uplighter – even on the soft warm setting.
The button is easy to press and it’s very simple to use. I would definitely recommend this lantern.
I bought the set of 2 camping lanterns for use in my loft (although a little pricey for plastic lamps). However, they are very bright and are excellent for what I need them for, and saves me having to pay an electrician to install some permanent lighting in an area that will only get occasionally used.
Being a set of two, they will also come in handy if we end up with power cuts.
I particularly wanted battery powered lamps as I couldn’t see the point of buying them for the loft then needing to bring them down to re-charge them. And if I need them because of power cuts, what good would they be if they needed mains power to charge them?
They appear to be quite robust and I like the options for hanging them up from either end. The settings re: different light options are simple and the on/off button is easy to press.
The base is wide enough so the lamps should be pretty stable if set upon something but, if they should topple or get knocked over, they appear to be able to take the knocks. Therefore, if you’re considering these for their intended use (camping) they will probably be very good.
Good very bright lamp but not easy to assemble.
The lamp is easy to handle and has a very bright light which can be altered. Batteries have to be bought extra.The main problem, which took me 20 minutes to sort out, is that it is very difficult to put in the batteries and close the lamp, even with instructions. Several times I put in different combinations of batteries and it is not easy to make sure the base is closed.
Great camping ligh
This is our 2nd purchase of of these and is a great replacement to the Camping Gaz lights we’ve been using for years. It’s light weight enough to hang in the tent (with it’s built in hook) and additionally being able to remove the lens section gave a great spread of light across the tent. Whether it lasts for 20 years, who knows, but at the good price point it doesn’t matter.

Brought after several power cuts. The base is not easy to open and close. First time thought it was broken as it did not work. After a few attempts. The light worked. Would advise not to be looking at it when turning on. It was very bright.

Super super bright you need your sunglasses. The warm white is a lovely colour, the flashing one I would only use if in danger to attract help I think it would trigger a fit if you were epileptic its very very bright . This will be great in my blackout tent.

Wow, I was not expecting this light to be so blindingly bright. It takes 3x D batteries (which I was a bit disappointed with, I thought it was a rechargeable – that’ll teach me to read the descriptions more closely when comparing different items!), and the life of the batteries has been pretty good with lots of use so far.
This is a very bright lamp. It has a setting to lessen the blue light and make it more warm-white, which is my preferred setting, but either way, it’s very bright. It has a flashing SOS function which is pretty cool, and I hope I don’t need to use it but it’s good to know it’s there.
It’s really sturdy, strong, waterproof and easily hangable with the clip on the bottom. It’s been really good for us while camping, and I’d definitely get another similar one (but maybe a rechargeable one next time)

Bright far-reaching ligh
This is a lovely lightweight lantern with a tremendous bright far reaching light indoors. I bought it to use in power-cuts. One is ample for the room and light spreads to corridor well from that too. It has a warmer light to use which would be useful for tents at night. I have not needed to use it yet so can’t comment on battery life.

Didn’t really expect much for the price to be honest, just that my camping equipment bill was getting a little high and thought this would do for the time being! I was pleasantly surprised. SEEMS A GOOD LANTER
Bought this as a standby in case of power-cuts. Thankfully not needed yet. The light is definitely bright enough to read under and easily bright enough to light a good sized room. Reviews warned of difficulty putting the lamp back together after fitting batteries. I had no trouble but applied a bit of logic – carefully marry the shape of the centre spindle to the base and don’t be ham fisted! Would buy again – in fact I did, for my sister.
Lifesaver in power cut!
I was without power for most of a week due to one of the recent storms, so ordered this and it’s great.
Much brighter than anything else I already had so I was able to read in the evenings (by my battery-operated LPG log-burner!) Quite cosy really.

This item is great. Thoughtful handle that means it can be hung at height for wider illumination. It’s very lightweight obviously the batteries do add a fair amount. Very impressed with its brightness. Intend to take camping but at the moment have in the cupboard at home in case of power cut. One lights up the room like a having a bright lamp with perhaps a 40w bulb would. Happy I bought these.

Arrived quickly. Some people refer to difficulty in attaching base to the body when loaded with batteries – just be careful and it is easy. Excellent staged lighting for different occasions. Bought to replace and old lamp which has non repairable tube so time will tell if as efficient hence 4 stars. Early indication is that this is a handy little lamp for power cuts etc. Chose a battery powered over rechargeable since the day the power goes off is the day you realise you had not recharged in a while!!!

Purchased 2 of these lamps because of blackouts. They are brilliant !! So bright-lights up the whole room. Don’t know how long the batteries last for yet as haven’t had them on long yet. They are easy to use & light up a whole room, even better than my lamp! Well worth to buy if you want a powerful bright light.

This has been great, been used on and off few times a week. Had new batteries only once. But today it died for no reason..one minute working the next nothing works….no knocks etc. Bit annoying for the price of 27 quid I paid I think. It should last a good few more years.
Outstanding illuminatio
I don’t normally write reviews but this is definitely worth it. I bought this as we had an issue with our light in our loo. It arrived next day ( I am a prime member though) and fitted the batteries. I’m just using long life batteries from a well known supermarket. I found them easy to install. The light is amazing. So bright. I would say the quality is excellent and would definitely recommend it.

This thing is a beast!
Ordered this as I couldn’t find my camping lantern (rechargable and cost 150!) and wasn’t expecting much for the price. I was really disappointed when I opened the box as it was tiny compared to the current lamp however the amount of light it kicks out is ridiculous for the size and it was actually far brighter than my current one. Given that it’s about half the size of my current lamp (it actually fits in my glove box!) I’m taking this one away with us from now on. Can’t really comment on the battery life as it’s still going strong. We were camping for 3 days and it showed no sign of running out.

Actually didn’t the buy this for camping. After a couple of power cuts we realised this was an ideal back up for my disabled mum on electricity supplied oxygen. One button push would give her sufficient stand alone lighting to operate a manual oxygen cylinder and make the necessary phone calls for assistance.

I needed to buy this as my partner had taken our torch with him on a trip. I bought the torch so that I could observe my 2 dogs in the garden in the dark. This torc is good to place on a shelf to light the surrounding area.

Love this light. So bright in my huge tent and what I think is good value for money, no wonder it’s sold so many. Can be unscrewed in the middle for different lighting option. Think I’ll be keeping this one for a good while.

We have lots of solar lights and a PIR out in the back garden but I wanted a light that I could sit on the garden table that would shed light on my book whilst reading on the late evenings.
It has several settings and the bright is really bright!
Battery life is good and I love how I can also hang this up either way.

I bought this lantern for the summer season and I am very impressed with it. It is very bright when needed but can also be a more subdued light. It is easy to use and does not take up much room. A very good buy.

Excellent wee lamp
Brilliant Lamp, small ( which is not a negative) brillantly bright, can also have it on warm light, we bought for outside in our pergola at night, it’s perfect for sitting out. Would definitely recommend.

I bought two of these in case of power cuts. However, the kids recently used one for camping in the back garden. They left it on all night and it was still going strong next day. I am very impressed. It offers the options of either a very bright light or a softer light (I think it can flash also???). When batteries are in it is also very stable and will sit nicely wherever you want it without it falling over. Batteries easy to fit/replace also. Would certainly buy again. I remember the old day of rubbish torches/camping lamps. This is amazing by comparison. Thank goodness for technological progress!
