Mah Jongg Set – Luxury Mahjong Club Set – London Jaques since 1795

This set is lovely. Presentation case, tiles, book etc are fabulous. I have taken a star off as in my opinion the tile racks are flimsy and don’t hold the tiles properly. That aside I am thrilled with the set and have purchased racks separately.

The mahjong set looks as good as the literature. It arrived on time and was well packed. Now ready to start playing mahjong when I will be able to give a better opinion.
After playing with the set we found the racks not fit for purpose. The racks need to be able to store tiles on both sides (ledges) and were found not long enough when starting. The winds discs should be bigger to make playing easier.

What a luxury product packaged beautifly, the extra touches make it feel so grand, the box tied with a bow and the case wrapped in historical paper depicting the history of Jaques it was like christmas

Bought this a couple years ago, but the case hasn’t been carried a lot during the time. The faux leather handle looked always quite thin, and a few days ago it snapped, from just normal carrying. Was able to replace with a plastic handle we had laying around, but I’m not sure how long the loops will hold.

Western style Mahjong set in a nice faux leather case and aesthetic packaging. The tiles have a good hand feel to them, and are nicely engraved. You have everything you need to play, even a short rulebook, which is a bit archaic, but it just adds to the feel.

The wind indicators are separate discs, a holding cylinder would be a useful addition, to keep them in one place. Their paint-job has a bit of a bleed over, but you can see that on the product photos, and it gives them a bit of a handcrafted feel.

All in all a very good looking set.

It is a beautiful Mahjong set , came beautifully wrapped , good quality . Would make a lovely present .

Habe das Spiel als Kind schon mit meinen Eltern gespielt und suchte eins, das dem ihren hnelt. Ich bin mit diesem Spiel insofern zufrieden, dass man die verschiedenen Bilder auch als Europer ganz gut auseinander halten kann, was mir bei anderen Spielen, die vielleicht originaler sind, schwerer fiel. Der Koffer ist schn, ich finde das Spiel fr den Preis ganz prima, zwei kleine Negativpunkte: Die Bnkchen finde ich wenig hilfreich, da nicht gekippt, sondern im rechten Winkel gefertigt. Und der “weisse Drache” in der Bedienungsanleitung sieht aus wie ein Blankostein… Erscheint mir wie ein Druckfehler…alles in allem ist es schn und empfehlenswert, wenn man nicht Unsummen ausgeben will.

The set was beautifully presented in a lovely case which should last a long time. The pieces are white throughout with traditional but very clearly printed designs. This will be treasured by our grandchildren and compares well with a traditional bone and bamboo set that we are fortunate enough to possess. It also contains very clear instructions, so we may start to play with the correct rules after only 50 years or so! It is very good value for such a quality product.

Lovely looking. Good built. The handle of the case could be better but good quality overall.

I thought they were standard size but they are actually slightly smaller – not mini but smaller than regular size – the measurments are stated, my bad not to check. But on the other hand it’s easy to carry to friend’s place since it’s small. And they look really nice, ivory colour tiles and leather box. I ordered for express delivery and took just two days to arrive.

This is great quality and arrived quickly. I’m looking forward to playing.

I bought this as a gift and the person I gave it to is more than delighted with it. I did not unpack it, so cannot comment myself, but I know the person who received it well and they were impressed.

This set is impressive. It has a quality about it that surprised us – nicely. The tiles are well finished and presented, the game instruction booklet is easy to follow. We have now had many hours of fun playing Mah Jongg with a couple of friends. It gets quite competitive at times, it also causes a lot of frustration seeing the tile you want go down and you can’t pick it up. Great fun and good quality.

Two negativs: I miss the small tiny and cute dices! And the four tile holders are not great to use. I bought big wooden ones!
