DGA517Z 18V Li-ion LXT Brushless 125mm Angle Grinder – No batteries included
The DGA517Z cordless Angle Grinder is powered by 18V Li-ion slide type battery (not included), with soft start for smooth start-ups and variable speed control to match the speed to the application, to deliver up to 8,500 rpm. The brushless motor eliminates carbon brushes, enabling the motor to run cooler and more efficiently for longer life, and optimises battery energy use for up to 50 per cent longer run time per charge. Soft grip for user’s increased comfort and control on the job.
The Angle Grinder is equipped with a large paddle switch for user convenience, anti-restart to prevent motor start up when the battery is inserted with the switch locked on and electronic current limiter for overload protection.
3 stage Battery Fuel Gauge to show battery charge level, overheating and overload. Charge level – the power remaining in the battery can be indicated in 3 stages simply by pushing a button. 3 lights on for more than 50 per cent of full battery capacity, 2 lights on for 20 to 50 per cent of full battery capacity and 1 light on for less than 20 per cent of full battery capacity. Overheating – the gauge will blink to warn against overheating and Overload – when the protection system works repeatedly due to overload, the tool will lock.
The DGA517 features:
Automatic Torque Drive Technology (ADT): automatically changes the cutting speed according to the load condition for an optimum operation.
Active Feedback Sensing Technology (AFT): shuts down the tool to protect the user if the rotation speed suddenly slows down.

Immer auf der Baustelle dabei,Akku hlt stand,am Anfang leicht ungewohnt da die Flex relativ lang mit Akku ist aber dennoch nicht unhandlich und schwer,mcht ich nicht mehr missen..

Der Winkelschleifer von Makita macht einen Super Eindruck, lsst sich sehr gut bedienen und durch den Tot Mann Schalter ist sie auch sehr sicher.
Der Akku hlt fr meine kleinen arbeiten aus, habe aber auch noch ein paar Ersatzakkus.
Was mir auch gut gefllt sind die verschiedenen Geschwindigkeitsstufen, welche natrlich auch den Akku schonen.
Die Flex ist nicht zu schwer und liegt gut in der Hand.
Verarbeitung ist Makita Typisch sehr gut.

Ich habe lange mit mir gekmpft, lieber Strom aus der Steckdose fr den Winkelschleifer oder doch ein Winkelschleifer mit AKKU? JA, ich habe mich richtig entschieden fr einen AKKU Winkelschleifer. Das Gert ist handlich und die Leistung genial (ein 5 Ah Akku sollte man aber schon benutzen). Keine Einschrnkungen, nur Vorteile. Gut ist auch die Drehzahlregelung beim DGA517Z.
El uso que le doy es profesional y me a encantado es muy cmoda y corta a la perfeccin y sobre todo si le pones los discos makita que hay especial para amoladoras de batera la recomiendo

Den “Totmann-Schalter” finde ich genial. Maschine kommt schnell zum Stillstand und trgt somit zur Sicherheit bei.

Ein sehr gutes Gert in gewohnter Makita Qualitt. Die erste Sendung war offensichtlich ein Fehllufer: falsches Gert in falscher Verpackung. Danach alles wie immer positiv. Wenn es berhaupt etwas zu meckern gibt: mit Akku ist die Flex recht schwer. 125 er sind mit Kabel leichter und handiger.Das wei man aber vorher.Volle Punktzahl !

Havent purchast many grinders, but for me it was suprise that it worked counter clockwise. I have used many grinders before (cheaper ones with cable), but non of them worked counter clockwise. When doing simple work it is very anoying. Otherwise good quality tool.

Ein muss für jede Baustelle.
Kann das Teil nur weiter Empfehlen. Fiedelt alles durch Und hlt auch ziemlich lange ( 5000 Akku) An den Schalter gewhnt man sich. Sehr gut Ausbalanciert liegt gut in der Hand. Ein muss fr jede Baustelle !

Bei diesem recht handlichen Werkzeug gefallen mir besonders die Einstellbarkeit der Rotationsgewindigkeit und die ungewhnliche Laufruhe, die ich bisher so noch nicht erlebte. Ich trennte mit einer Feld-Wald-Wiesen-Trennscheibe einen Edelstahlwinkel in mehrere Teile. Jeder Schnitt sa – freihndig.
Sicher ist das z. T. auch dem fehlenden Netzkabel zu verdanken.

Absolutely brilliant bit of kit, I’m a huge Makita fan and have all my kit on the 18 volt batteries. I had a 240 volt Angle Grinder but this one has a variable speed facility which is amazing. Great bit of kit and do the job safely!

Ein krftiges Gert. Handlich und ausbalanziert. Auch den Paddelschalter finde ich sehr gut. Mit einem 5Ah Akku betrieben kann man schon einiges schneiden.
La mise en route par gchette est bien plus agrable et pratique que celle des autres modles sur le dessus du corps. Sinon, avec une batterie 1850 l’utilisation est agrable, belle puissance.

Attention, c’est un modle assez imposant et donc un peu lourd (plus que la version filaire que j’ai dj).

This is a cracking tool. It has so many features that it feels like a space ship compared to my old angle grinder. I most love the fact that it’s cordless – fantastic for on-site work. Plus the paddle switch is so much better than the slide on (IMHO) for quickly turning the device off and on for short bursts of work without moving your hand – and of course it’s safer too. Speaking about which, the electric stop is wonderful. It slows a 5mm thick steel cutting / grinding disc from top speed to 0 in 1.5 seconds. The regular (un-stopped) version of this same Makita 18V angle grinder (DGA 511Z – only sold in main-land Europe, not the UK) takes a whopping 5.5 seconds to do the same – imagine how much damage it could do in that time if the proverbial were to hit vital extremities. Nice added features are the tool-less adjustment of the blade guard, the ability to switch the handle position, and of course the seamless speed dial where you can adjust rotational speed between 3k and 8.5k rpm. Well done Makita! You make me feel like in a science fiction movie holding my grinder.

Needed a new angle grinder, and trust makita as a brand so went for this one as it is more efficient on battery life due to a brushless motor. Have only tested it so far, but first impressions are great! Also many thanks to the supplier who managed to get it to me from Germany in 3 days.

Der Schalter ist gewhnungsbedrftig aber wenn ich so berlege bin ich froh, dass die Maschine so einen Schalter besitzt denn sie hat eine enorme Kraft. Wenn einem die Maschine aus der Hand fliegt dann geht sie von alleine aus, andernfalls luft sie weiter und kann grosses Unheil anrichten wenn der Schalter blockiert wre. Man muss eigentlich zwei Schalter drcken damit sie anluft (Sicherheitsschalter befindet sich am Paddleschalter)…man sollte diese Kraft-Maschine nicht auf die leichte Schulter nehmen. Eine Kaufempfehlung fr den der eine kraftvolle und moderne Maschine haben will.

has adjustable speed settings and Increases power automatically when under load. This model has the power switch underneath the body (trigger style) instead of on top. Ive used this grinder a lot since buying and would recommend at least 5ah battery’s for it.

Another lovely Makita 18v tool.
I was very torn before I bought this.
I’d only ever used angle grinders with the traditional flip on/off switch, so I really wasn’t sure whether to go for that, or this the paddle switch.
2 years on I’m glad I chose the paddle switch version.
Yes, there are occasions where I would have preferred the old type, but many more occasions when I’m so glad I have the immediate response of the paddle in my hand.
It does take a little getting used to, but once you are, it just feels so much more natural.
Because of the job they do, angle grinders tend to be very power hungry, so I only use this with a 5Ah battery. (A 4Ah is fine, but to really useful, I wouldn’t go lower than that.)
Even then, even with a brushless motor, you rarely get more than 20 minutes hard work, so best to always have a spare ready.
As I said, I’ve now owned this for 2 years, and although it doesn’t get used all the time, it is used often, and it’s never let me down.
Changing discs is standard as you’d expect. Undo the retaining nut with a spanner and swap out.
The guard is good and solid and very easy to adjust, just flip the lever and spin the guard to the required position.
Makita corded angle grinders have a reputation as being amongst the most reliable, and this battery version is no different.
It’s a beautifully made tool.
