Wish I had bought one ages ago. The unit is straight forward to operate and stopped condensation almost immediately. My washing dries so much quicker and the whole house feels fresher, it removes an incredible amount of water from the air, i empty mine every day and can never quite believe how full the tank gets. Only downside is the fan is a bit noisier than I’d like, but now I’ve had one I definitely wouldn’t be without it.

We bought a Meaco 20L Dehumidifier on a Which Best Buy recommendation and having trialled an alternative. I couldn’t be more pleased with the product. It was originally bought to prevent damp and mould in an old property and completely sorted the issue. Having moved house, we’ve gone on to use it as a low energy alternative to a tumble dryer and it’s been brilliant. A very well designed and made product from great British company. It may be made in China (like your iPhone and most of the quality electrical items you own) but Meaco is a top end brand and thoroughly recommended.

This product is the best buy I had made to solve my damp problems. It sucked up so much water that I was amazed how I managed without it. My room smells clea

I am really glad that I purchased this item, it has helped me out no end. I noticed the difference within hours. The only downside I have found is that it costs more per hour than the other write ups advise but on the other hand gets my washing dry without the use of a tumble drye

This products works really well. Well switched on it gives an immediate reading of the humidity in the atmosphere. You can set it to a certain level (50 is recommended in the instructions). There are 2 speed settings for the fan and a timer if you want the device to run for a certain amount of time before switching itself off. It certainly extracts an impressive amount of water from the atmosphere and there is an indicator that shows when the water container is full. It is also useful for speeding up drying of clothes and the instructions show optimum settings for this scenario. I haven’t yet had an electric bill since in began using the device so cannot tell how much additional energy it is using, but the claims are that it uses minimal amounts of electricity to operate. I usually have the fan on the low setting as, I would imagine, this uses less energy. The fan is recommended to be on high setting for clothes drying.

Easy to use, only been on for 2 days but first night extracted around 3 ltrs of moisture, we have it in our conservatory next to the bedroom, slight humming noise could be heard, and that is with the bedroom window open, so did not affect sleep at all, simple to empty just pull out the bucket and empty in to sink, we have a large conservatory and the walls are brick, it’s a single skinned wall with no ventilation, sliding glass doors and 2 large windows to the side, all get full of condensation and the walls get black mould, hopefully not any more, first morning no condensation and none since using if this carries on…. Great product.

Living in a bungalow, when the weather gets colder condensation forms on the windows overnight. The Meaco is very effective at taking the excess moisture out of the air. The condensation problems have disappeared.

I run it for a few hours each day to keep on top of the excess moisture (longer on the days when I’m drying laundry indoors).

It’s as noisy as a hub extractor in the kitchen but, as I leave it in the hallway, not a problem.

Firstly there isn’t anything to dislike about the Meaco Dehumidifier. It’s amazing. I no longer have any condensation on my windows, I leave this on in my hallway and it keeps my home feeling less humid and fresher. Living in Cornwall by the Ocean means we suffer with high humidity levels and constant condensation on our windows, Not anymore! Also is fab for drying your washing Well worth the money. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a decent dehumidifier. It’s not noisy, obviously you can hear it but it’s not annoying, I sleep easily whilst the dehumidifier is running. It’s amazing how much moisture it catches. It’s easy to use, easy to clean and easy to move from room to room due to its coasters. Thanks Meaco!

We didn’t have a particularly damp house, just wanted to help with the drying of clothes in the winter. It has been removing 20l of water nearly every 24hrs. It’s been a great purchase.

Last winter I had a serious problem with condensation in my house. The windows would be soaking wet and opening the windows wouldn’t make much of a difference. Soon black mould began to appear in several locations which was quite stressful. I consulted various damp proofing specialists, all of which gave me expensive solutions and no guarantee the issue would be eradicated.

This year I decided to buy a dehumidifier to see if it makes a difference. The first one I bought (different make/model) did the job well, but drained energy. I returned it and bought another one (again, different make/model) but I wasn’t convinced it was doing the job. Third time lucky, I bought this Meaco unit. It’s perfect. The unit now effortlessly controls humidity across the entire house. Sometimes I move it around from room to room but most of the time it’s not necessary. The unit is a little heavy but its no bother thanks to its easy manoeuvrability and high quality build. The water tank is large so I don’t have to worry about it filling up constantly. The noise level is no louder than a fan, and actually for me white noise helps me sleep better so it doesn’t bother me at all. I can’t get over how quickly it dries laundry. In the winter when laundry actually contributes to the humidity issue, it’s no longer a problem.

And finally, this year I’ve had no black mould and I feel like I’m breathing much healthier air.

This unit has been a been a little miracle for me. It’s reduced my stress levels, improved my quality of life and I feel healthier. I couldn’t recommend this unit enough.

I had a cheap dehumidifier, bought this one and noticed a big difference. My old one was 170w but would be on all night and couldn’t get the humidity to 55% ever, this one’s obviously a bit more but goes down to my set humidity at 55% within a hour or two then switches off automatically! And check the room humidoty every half hour to see if it needs to switch back on Saving a lot of power, use it to dry my clothes, it’s a lot quieter than my other one also. Only thing I will say is it is pretty heavy but has wheels on them. It’s so brilliant. Would strongly recommend

This dehumidifier is a game changer ! We love in an older house and I always thought the house had excess moisture and I was right !
I have to empty this twice a day so it’s clearly doing it’s job! Plus when I have washing in the house it drys within a day and not 5 days like it used to ! Fab!
The only thing is it’s noisier then I thought but not a horrendous noise just like a loud fan. Small price to pay I reckon.

Only having it a couple of weeks hard to say what the energy efficiency is going to be like but as a unit its self really impressed, working wonders drying the washing this time of year and great in taking the moisture out of the rooms also the air feels alot fresher as well, so to sum it up so far cannot complain with the unit as a good dehumidifier.

While I can’t confirm the energy efficiency as I don’t have a smart meter nor understand the calculations but that is one of the reasons I bought this particular model. It is certainly extracting the water out of the atmosphere, is quiet and very portable to move between rooms and due to it’s size, quite unobtrusive. So far it is operating as described and I am very pleased with the purchase of this model. Controls are relatively straightforward.

Overall very pleased with this dehumidifier. This is my first dehumidifier so can’t compare it with anything. It’s far from silent but it didn’t really stop me from sleeping. Works well but the only complaint is that the humidity level shown on the display is way out. For example, it might show the current level to be 57 when my hygrometer is displaying 45. But as I rely on my trusted hygrometer, this doesn’t bother me. I would recommend this product.

First Dehumidifier we’ve ever bought , so cannot compare to others , but I can tell you it’s collecting some water , it’s a wonder we have’nt drown lol thank you Meaco
We rent a privately owned over priced 2 bedroom flat which suffers terrible with Damp , Condensation ,
Wet windows , it has poor ventilation needs windows all year round , open window to shower no extractor etc etc
Mould spores randomly appearing anywhere and everywhere even with windows open all year round , also been using endless amount of plastic moisture traps have helped but not perfect and expensive overtime !
Meaco 12 L was our choice on your recommendation and since using it we’ve had no wet windows , things around the place seem a whole lot drier let’s hope it stays that way .
We are definitely impressed but early days yet , it’s not totally silent but bearable and fingers crossed doesn’t add to much to the electric bill as stated .
Quite expensive item but would definitely purchase again , it’s working so far so thumbs up from us
    thank you Meaco

I had another make before this, with a noise level of 46db, this Meaco is meant to be 43db. Well, someone can’t measure noise levels!!!! Even on the lowest fan speed, the Meaco is far more noisy than my previous make, in fact, uncomfortably more. Let’s hope it does as good a job of dehumidifying as my previous make, otherwise I’ve made a poor buy.

What a revelation !!! We turn it on every day for 12hrs and we empty between 1/2 & a full container of water..There is no condensation on window ledges after a cold night and would really recommend this product, plus the damp patch has gone..The only down side is it’s really quite noisy…If we didn’t have one where is the water going?

In only a couple of weeks, this dehumidifier changed our quality of life a lot. I used to have skin rashes and joint problems. I had no idea, mould can cause such things. After this machine helped combat mould, my problems started to get better. I knew, I needed this, I just didn’t know how much I did. All my family sleeps better, home feels more cozy and warm.
Anyone with mould or condensation problems should seriously consider buying one. Thank you Meaco.

I bought this unit in 2015 and it has lasted ever since. It has done a great job during that time for the various reasons I have needed it, from drying clothes in a small back room, to drying out newly spread plaster on walls. In winter it is powerful enough to keep the condensation away upstairs and not loud enough to be bothersome. I don’t often review things but I made an effort to do so with the item; and I highly recommend this product.

We live in Northern Ireland and have a constant battle with condensation due to the wet climate. We have a big 5 bedroom house and have been thinking about a dehumidifier for a long time but put off by the cost and not sure if it would work. After reading the reviews decided to try, we had over 78% humidity – higher in some parts of the house and had to constantly wash off mildew especially around windows and ceilings and had to window vac every morning, our rooms sometimes felt cold and damp especially downstairs bedroom. Some rooms had radiator and a plug in oil heater also. There was also a musty smell on clothes that were in the wardrobe a while This machine has transformed the house in the last 3 weeks! Even the kids felt a difference from the first day. We have had to empty the tank once a day and we are still not at our ideal 50% and it’s been running constantly since receipt but the difference is massive, currently around 55%. The unit is noisy but I have got used to it now, the benefits outweigh that aspect. It sits in the hallway and I have moved it around to see where the worst areas were initially and when testing again the humidity level still remains stable so it’s effectively drawing moisture from all over the home where it is. There is obviously a cost to it but we haven’t had to have the heating on as much and we have no new mildew spots since it’s been operating so hopefully it will settle into sleep mode once we reach our desired level. I do like to have the windows open to let some air through but have had to have them closed whilst machine is operating but hope that is a temporary measure but highly recommended.

We decided to buy a dehumidifier because we currently have a rain-soaked wall, and because current heating cost increases mean we have decided we can only afford to heat one room properly, so we are getting condensation in the others in November now that the temperature has dropped.

    It is great.

The bedroom with the damp wall has dried out enough after one day’s use for the cats to give it their vote of confidence and go back to sleeping in it.

The air in the whole house feels drier and so much more comfortable.

Now we are running it in the centre of the house, and the 6 litre tank on the 20 litre model we have is filling up overnight, and half filling during the day.

We no longer have condensation on the windows, after a shower, after a night’s sleep with the bedroom door closed, or in the upvc porch, all places which were getting wet before.

I haven’t tried the HEPA filter yet – the cost of replacing the filters puts us off – but I appreciate having the option.

I haven’t tried it out on drying laundry yet.

It is relatively cheap to run – the cost matches up with the manufacturer’s cost estimate per hour, as measured on our smart meter.

The sound/noise level is, basically, the hum of a fan running constantly. It’s a single tone, so you could sleep in the same room if you needed to, just as you would sleep in the same room as a fan if you needed to, but you probably wouldn’t choose to. If it’s outside the room, you don’t really notice the sound much.

It’s easy to empty, and easy enough to roll about on its castors on a hard floor, and about suitcase weight and size when you want to carry it over thick pile carpet or up and down stairs.

    A very good purchase, recommended.

It works well and extracts plenty of moisture.
It’s a little noisy, but as expected.
Our house is large and has a lot of moisture in the air (especially in the kitchen and bathroom areas). It’s only gone below 60% once in several weeks of usage, and I’ve never had to empty it more than twice per day.
I would say the ‘up to 20L per day’ in the specification is fake marketing bull, we have plenty of moisture and it’s never extracted more than 10L per 24 hours of constant use (without the extra filter). So wondering if the smaller one would have produced the same results, and if the bigger one would have been a waste.
Overall very happy with it though.

So far has been working well, but…

We have only had this for four days so this is an early review, but the difference it has made so far as been astounding.

We have problems with mould in the bedroom of our flat, and when we turned the dehumidifier on, our humidity level was 81%. Since running it day and night for these first few days, the humidity has gone down to 62% and the amount of water this thing collects is crazy. We went for the 12L as we don’t mind emptying the tank, if that’s something that bothers you perhaps go for a bigger model – but I’d say it’s a good thing to be emptying the tank frequently as it shows it’s doing it’s job.

With regards to noise, the machine does give off a constant hum, but that is to be expected on any dehumidifier worth your time probably. It doesn’t bother us sleeping in the same room as the machine at night and actually it works well as white noise for me.

It’s pretty heavy, but the sturdy carry handle makes this much easier. As long as you don’t have any issues with your back/ lifting, it will be absolutely fine to move around.

I suffer quite severe asthma and allergies, and this morning was the first morning in a long time that I woke up not coughing and wheezing, so if you’re an allergy sufferer with high humidity in your house I highly recommend this. We haven’t even tried the air purifier function yet, but it goes to show how much allergens high humidity alone can cause without you even realising.

Well worth the money spent, and I have a lot of faith in this sturdy little machine even though it’s early days!

This is a really good dehumidifier and air purifier. It does have an audible noise, people have complained that it is noisy, but from my experience they all are. This one is no noisier than others I’ve had in the past. But, what really impressed me was that it gets rid of odours. Like, my bathroom which is tiled and doesn’t have a window, just an extraction fan. Anyway, I stuck the dehumidifier in there and it not only sucked up the moisture, but also took out the smell. Brilliant.

It seems well made, even though it’s all plastic. Can be a little heavy especially when it’s filling up but still portable.

I bought this after reading Which? reviews. Though not Maeco’s quietest, it is their most energy efficient, which was a major consideration.
I live in a cool and very humid region of the country and humidity levels in the house can easily reach over 70/75%. The dehumidifier had an instantaneous effect. I have it a the top of the stairs in a Victorian two-up-two-down terrace house set to 55% on half power (much quieter). I have two humidity sensors; my upstairs areas now average ~57% and downstairs ~59%.
The dehumidifier is not on all the time – it cuts out automatically when desired humidity is reached and starts again when necessary and needs emptying every 2-3 days.
The added bonus for this dehumidifier is the optional HEPA filter which does seem to be effective (I suffer from allergies).
Though a little noisier than I had hoped, it isn’t intrusive on half power on the landing.
Which? calculates running costs to be less than 4p/hour, so it shouldn’t break the bank to run and, compared to a desiccant it will pay for itself in no time.

Pleasantly surprised how quiet this machine is. It arrived yesterday, took it out the box, let it stand for four hours as per the instructions (to let the refrigerant settle) and then set it going. Extremely easy to set up, contains very helpful instructions. Left it overnight and in the morning it was still going and had a tank almost full of water. Humidity had only gone down a small amount – but it’s in a very damp, large cellar and it’s going to take quite a bit of time to dry it out fully. It had taken away the musty smell overnight, and it felt slightly warmer down there. So, so, so happy with this purchase! Glad I wasn’t scared off by the bad review at the top of the list, which was clearly written by someone who’d owned it a very long time and never cleaned it!!

Very impressed with how quick it extracts moisture from the air and all while being fairly quiet (I’ve had no problem sleeping with it on and right beside me)

Only downside to it, is it blows out warm air when in dehumidification mode, so not the best for removing humidity on a hot summers day, unless you have air conditioning.

Also would of liked for it to have a more powerful airflow even if only when used in air purifier mode, but I suppose that would of made it noisier.

I’d definitely recommend it tho if your ok with the minor faults I mentioned above and your looking for a dehumidifier with air purifier filters you can install for it to use while in dehumidifier mode (one included in box and I brought a pack of three spare on here for 30, yes three for that price, when my blue air purifier charges 25 per filter).

The first one delivered by Amazon didn’t work properly, only the fan part worked. Amazon replaced it next day and it has been great. A little noisy but aren’t all fans. It’s well built and very simple to use.

This is a neat modern machine and does the job well if you follow the manual carefully. It was noisy to begin with and has got a lot noisier as time has gone on. This is a downside for me living in a communal block. Otherwise its efficient and as expected with the added bonus of improved air quality. I’m petite so it’s a bit of a struggle to move this quite heavy machine. Looks can be deceptive. I therefore choose to keep it in one place and it works well enough.

I had a cough for years and eventually realised it was caused by black mould. I removed the mould but still had the cough as mould spores were still in the air. This dehumidifier not only has stopped the mould from coming back but the HEPA filter on it also gets rid of mould spores too, and so it has stopped my cough.

It is heavy but is on wheels so can be easily pushed (although would be tricky getting it up and down stairs). I put it on the top landing when drying washing with all doors open and windows shut as it works for the whole flat, and then put it in my bedroom to clean the air in there. To dry washing you put it on continuous mode, so it runs constantly. I only have it on a few hours as it dries the washing quite quickly.

You can put it on Air Purification mode only, if you only want to clean the air without dehumidfying it. HEPA filters last about 3 months and are cheaper on Amazon than if bought from Meaco. You could have the dehumidfier on without the HEPA filter, or just put it in when you want to purify the air, but I keep the HEPA filter in all the time.

You have to hoover the main filter every 1-2 weeks but that doesn’t need replacing. It’s not very quiet but not very noisy either.

(upped to 4 stars as performance is so good, hoping fault/support issue was one off)

Very good dehumidifier – captures a lot of moisture – highly recommend in that regard…

However. After sales support is poor. The humidity sensor started always showing 35 (switch it on and it would show 60 and then count down to 35). Support team told me my other sensors must be wrong (Dyson Pure, Nest Thermostat, Baby monitor). Eventually returned via Amazon who were extremely helpful.

This is now our second dehumidifier purchase as we were so pleased with the first. We have one in our large conservatory and the other in our hallway.

We needed two because we keep the doors in the conservatory closed for our indoor cats. The one in the hallway keeps condensation away in the rest of our three bedroom house.

While you can hear the fan gently running it is not noisy and not at all invasive or annoying. The energy efficiency is great and they are easy to move on carpet or wooden flooring on their rollers.

The dehumidifiers are used predominantly in the winter months and do a wonderful job of keeping all condensation at bay.

When the dehumidifiers are running and the heating is on the house feels nice and toasty with no signs of a damp chill anywhere.

We also have the benefit of being able to dry indoor hung laundry within a day. We’ve also used the dehumidifiers for drying out freshly painted walls.

The settings provide flexibility for our specific individual requirements.

I am always amazed at how much water is extracted from the environment. I use some of this water to fill other household appliances as it doesn’t produce any limescale.

It is well worth paying a little extra for such a good make. I am well pleased with both of my purchases.

I bought this some time ago now but have used it over the winter. I have a 3 bedroom Victorian semi detached house and was plagued with condensation after a cold night.

I tended to put it in the hallway and left the doors open and found that it really did make a difference. I also use it to help dry clothes on a clothes horse on wet days. So overall it’s been a great purchase. It’s not silent but we cope with the slight hum (I put it on the half setting overnight) but I’m always amazed at how much moisture it collects and I don’t find it overly expensive to run.

Runs its self and bleeps when it needs emptying, we have run it constantly so have now got used to it clicking on and off through the night. We have noticed an improvement and amazed how much moisture is in the air. Well worth it.

Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersHad this dehumidifier a few days, absolutely love it. This is the 3rd we’ve had in about 13y and by far the best.

I did some measurements for comparison, new one vs our old faithful ‘get-get’ branded (Argos?) one from about 13y ago.

Both were in the same room, about 55% RH around 20C at start. This is a typical domestic room in spring time north England. (Stats on the box are at 80% RH 30C which is like you are in a tropical rainforest. I’m sure that’s favourable for max extraction but not a typical home!).

Hung up some washing, set an oscillating fan nearby, ran both dehumidifiers side by side both pointing air outlet at washing. Did 10mins warm up, emptied their tanks, and ran test for 2h. Both set to continuous mode. Measured total power and total ml extracted at end.

Old: Get-get brand, a bit smaller, 13y old
    Average power 141 W
    Extraction rate 35 ml/h
    Extraction efficiency 247ml/kWh

New: Meaco 20L LE (low fan speed setting)
    Average power 238 W
    Extraction rate 230 ml/h
    Extraction efficiency 966 ml/kWh

So yes, it uses more power. But it extracts >6 time more water in the time and per kWh of energy extracts nearly 4x as much as my old one.

That last figure is the real kicker for me.

If I use them to extract 1l of water per day from wet washing (assuming they cut out reliably when reaching target, uniform conditions/efficiency, etc etc)…

The old will cost me 4kWh/day, or about 292 /yr.

The new will cost me 1kWh/day or about 75/yr.

So yes, this is a >200 dehumidifier, but worth it if you’re replacing an old one, payback ~1.5y.

Hope someone finds this slightly obsessive engineering analysis useful!

Only downside is that the noise is a bit more. Probably couldn’t sleep in same room. It’s ok if there are 1-2 closed doors between you and it (noise is mostly the fan).

5 years now, with low to medium use, and stills performs like new.
I often use it with a HEPA filter, that purifies the air from fine dust, allergens and odours.
It can fully dry clothes if left in a small room of up to 4 square metres with closed doors, in about 8-12 hours, depending on the room’s temperature (the higher the temperature the quicker).
Its frame is very solid and the noise level is about 40-44db, which I would say falls into the medium-quite range.
You can sleep with it in your bedroom if not overly sensitive to sound.
As it comes with refrigerant technology, it certainly performs much better when room temperature is 18C or higher.

We live in a 117 year old property that has damp issues so bought the Meaco 20L dehumidifier about a year ago after my 3 year old grandson was having breathing issues. It’s been a fantastic investment as he’s been fine ever since and the damp that had built up has receded. Also great at drying your laundry overnight. The only minor issue I have is that the louvre (flap) that allows the warm air to escape from the machine must always be open but the kids sometimes close it shut and then you have to manually open it, whereas if it needs to stay open as per the instructions, then they should have made it child proof. Other than this one minor issue, it’s a great product that has been extremely beneficial.

Checking our smart meter indicated extremely reasonable electricity consumption for drying washing indoors, so not on all day but typically say 4hrs.
Maneuverability using the top folding handle is easy enough, making it highly relocatable around the house, a real bonus given it can also be used with an allergy hepa air filter in non dehumidifier mode.
It’s not super-quiet although not disturbingly loud either.
Great moisture removal. Very pleased with this product.

Ok it’s more expensive than most, but it is so much better than the 180 last one I had (was also a Which recommended). It’s low energy efficiency comes from it’s ability to switch off once a humidity level (which you input) has been reached and switch on if the humidity level increases again. Good sized water tank too, don’t have to empty it every other day, now it’s every other week.

My last unit was 20 years old and ran out of gas. It use to extract 5 liters per WEEK. Replaced with the 20 LE and in the fist two days, only operating for 12 hours per day, extracted 2 liters a day. My house, a 60 year old bungalow, very high up, very exposed needs all the extraction it can get. Day three only extracted 1.3 Ltrs, so I have to assume that the house is less humid as a result. Take no notice of the digital display that reads a very low humidity, this is the level at the output of the 20 LE and does not give a true room value. Overall very impressive.

I’ve been using this for a few months now. Overall it’s been excellent. Meaco also have excellent customer service.

The first dehumidifier I received was faulty as it wasn’t extracting any water from the environment despite showing high levels of humidity. The phone service was excellent and they talked me through how to check if it is an issue with the compressor by doing a bathroom test.

I later got a replacement and it has been on pretty much 24/7.

Based on my current electricity plan, I’m paying about 3p per hour. There are two fan mode settings. When I’m cooking I keep it on the high fan mode to extract the moisture quicker. Overnight, I leave it on the low fan mode.

I should note here that both fan modes are quite noisy.

Overall an excellent product with great after sales service.

After considering a number of dehumidifiers, I went for the Meaco based on very good reviews, and I am not disappointed at all. This has really brought very high damp levels under control quickly and is proving to be a real workhorse. Having said that, a couple of things to bear in mind. First, the weight – this is a heavy machine, not one for frequent moving from room to room, but find a good spot to leave it and it’s good enough to dehumidify an average house. Second – the Hepa filters would be quite costly to replace regularly so I am using this without one at the moment; I just wonder if the basic filter is fine enough to not let too much dust through to accumulate inside the machine. Nevertheless, this machine is doing a very good job at the moment and seems robust enough to last for a few years (hopefully).

This dehumidifier replaced an Ebac 6000 which had had to be returned at manufacturer twice so decided to go for a different a,e when it finally gave up the ghost after 4 or5 years. I am delighted with the Meal, it comes fitted with castors and a handle as standard which makes it much easier to move about. The air outlet is at the top of the machine with a moving airflow direction flap, which is ideal if you have to dry washing indoors, obviously on an airer near it not on the dehumidifier. It does produce some noise, as any machine with a fan will, but I don’t find it obtrusive. After a couple of months use I am delighted with the Meac, it is doing all I would want and definitely controls the condensation.

Having researched the options available, we ordered the MEACO 20litre dehumidifier. It’s a “Best Buy” from a highly reputable, well-known test and research entity, and a reputable UK newspaper also spoke to industry insiders who rated it as the best.

Now we’ve used it, we concur. This has MASSIVELY transformed the dampness in our home, and is the right size for our house (a standard 1930s 2 bed and a box room). We do occasionally move it to concentrate on problem rooms to target them more efficiently, and it is a heavy unit to carry so the wheels underneath are helpful.

The buttons are easy to follow, and it genuinely does help dry damp clothing hung on the airer.

Two settings (one is slightly quieter).

Ive already recommended to others, and we’d buy it again if needed.

    Well worth the money

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have had the Meaco 20L LE Low Energy Dehumidifier for a couple of weeks now and run it 12 hours a day in a 2 up 2 down terrace house in Somerset. On the high fan setting, with the Hepa filter connected it seems to remove about 3 litres of water from the air each day. Prior to this purchase I did have some mould here and there and have washed it away but it is too early to see whether or not it will return. I will report back after the bad weather is over.
I’d love to run it overnight in the children’s bedroom but it is simply too noisy even on the low fan setting.

I must say this does its job well, I fitted a ‘Nest’ thermostat to our new boiler, it registered a rather high end humidity level, since Covid, this has been on my radar and it seems lots of bacteria like a higher humidity. So I started to research the various options and the MEACO fitted all my criteria. Since fitting it, our humidity has come down to an acceptable level, the noise is low enough to ignore and emptying is easy. Moving it about is not a problem, though having found a good spot, it doesn’t need that much moving. Very pleased with this purchase

My only regret is that I didn’t buy one of these sooner.
We were constantly having issues with condensation on windows in winter. Tried leaving the windows open regularly, but then of course the house was freezing, and the windows still had condensation on them. Started having issues with mould growing in corners of rooms. One room smelled of damp, this was our own fault as we regularly hung up washing in there.
All these issues are now gone thanks to this dehumidifier. It’s brilliant for drying washing indoors as well. It’s pricey but worth every penny. The amount of water it collects is unbelievable. It’s a decent sized tank. We run ours during the day. After 2 days it’s full. Very easy to empty.

Remember to clean your filter every couple of weeks. I find taking the hand held dyson with the soft brush attachment cleans it well.

    Would definitely recommend.

Having always struggled in my kitchen/breakfast room with very high condensation due to single brick walls and a previously failed damp course injection I decided as last resort to purchase this item. Some 6 weeks after purchase the mould on my walls and skirting board has disappeared and even the water discolouration on my wooden floors has vastly improved. When purchased the moisture reading was over 80%. Within a short space of time the reading has dropped to between 45/50%. I noticed during the last week that humidity reading had slightly risen to 54% and checked the HEPA filter which was very brown. I changed this the other day and the reading has notably dropped. If you use a HEPA filter make sure to check and replace as necessary as it will have some affect on the machines performance. I am generally emptying the full 6 litre tank every 36 hours. It is very satisfying to know that the 6 litres is poured down my sink instead of all over my walls, skirting and floor ! I cannot recommend this machine highly enough – it has been nothing short of miraculous and whilst it is definitely NOT silent it is a small price to pay for a drier and considerably healthier house !

Replaced an Ecoair dessicator with this, mainly for its larger capacity of basin and good reviews – and hoped it would handle the larger 2 floor property we had moved to. Awfully loud and a larger than our old one, but it pulls an awful lot of water out of the air. Within a few hours of first running in december, most condensation on windows had disappeared on both floors – and we havent had more then the odd condensation around the edge since (compare this to nonstop dripping last winter). Still have to empty the basin once a day but the sheer amount of water coming out of the air constantly amazes. When we hung some clothes they dried very rapidly. House feels warmer. I think that the smaller model would probably have done the job, as this feels a bit overkill, but if this doesnt do the job for you, good luck finding something that does.

This has in a few days already proved very effective at reducing the humidity in our large 4 bedroom house in wettest Wales. The previous owners had stupidly blocked up fireplaces without properly venting them which resulted in damp and condensation problems. The dehumidifier has rectified this thankfully. When we moved in the bedroom windows were absolutely covered with condensation in the morning’s but after running this for just one night that never happened again. It’s filling the tank once or twice a day. That’s the good bit….

The bad bit is the noise. It’s certainly not quiet. It’s obtrusively loud and sounds like you’re on an aeroplane. It has two fan speeds but there’s really not much difference between them. It remains on almost constantly. But as I say, it’s doing a fantastic job so we live with the noise.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe moved into our house about 18 months ago and despite all my efforts to improve the heating efficiency and installation the house always felt cold. After further investigation I found that the humidity levels in the house were extremely high (70%) which had been caused by the house barely being lived in and poor heating for 10 years before we bought it. I tried everything to bring the humidity down, but could barely keep it below 60%.

After a lot of research I settled on this unit and have not been disappointed. It has now been up and running for almost 2 months and the house feels much warmer. Humidity levels have now dropped below 50%. I use the unit instead of an extractor fan on the bathroom meaning the heat is retained without the damp. I have found that moving it around the house brings the best results. It will drop room humidity well, but it’s also effective on the whole house (I live in a 3 bed semi).
The unit has been on constantly since purchasing without any issues. Remember to clean the filter regularly to keep it working at its best. It’s also worth mentioning that the displayed humidity is out by between 5% & 10% on the rooms humidity as it measures the internal humidity of the unit not the room humidity. The power usage is noticeable, but not excessive

Oh my god what a difference this machine has made to our lives.
Last year we moved into a new house with a terrible heating system and as a consequence we suffered really badly with black mould literally covering the walls in two rooms due to condensation.
We bought this machine and ran it constantly for a few weeks which reduced our humidity levels from 87% to around 50%.
Not only has it completely stopped our condensation but we have no mould and the house is generally warmer by around 3-4 degrees.
We were totally miserable in our new house last year and now it’s a completely different place.
Our heating bills have reduced by 25% so this will have paid for itself within 5-6 months.
I cannot thank Meaco enough. You have literally changed our lives.

I love this machine and am very happy that I bought it! I had so much condensation in my house on the windows that every morning in winter I had to mop it up with lots of kitchen roll! I had tried lots different ways to prevent it and nothing seemed to work! I’ve now been using my dehumidifier for about a week and I have NO condensation! Its amazing! The machine is easy to move because it has a handle and wheels although it is a bit heavy to carry upstairs. When its on it sounds like a fan. On full it is slightly noisy but its like background noise and my kids like the sound when they go to sleep! I cant comment yet on energy efficiency because I’ve not had it long! But it is called a Low Energy machine! Although initially its quite expensive- i really think its worth the money especially for a 3-5 bedroom house!

I already have the larger sibling to this device, which is excellent and unobtrusive. My 12L machine works effectively to dry a loft room which had previously suffered from condensation. Alas, it is noisy: the case thrums whenever the compressor cuts in which is unpleasant to be in the same room with and can be distinctly heard in the rooms below if left running overnight. I don’t know if this is a general issue or just my particular machine.

I got it a month ago. Before that in the cold season, window frames, double-glazed windows, garden doors were covered with a dense layer of condensation. Humidity did not fall below 70%. At a house temperature of 22 and an initial humidity of 75%, the dehumidifier collected ~ 3-4 liters of water per not full day opearting, which approximately corresponds to the declared characteristics. Indoor humidity has dropped to 57%. The temperature outside is +5. Windows, doors, toilet cistern are dry now. In terms of noise: at an acceptable level. You can hear that the device is functioning, but not annoying. Especially considering the benefits it brings. Also liked the build quality and materials. I am only uncertain about humidity in built meter. It shows different figures from professional meter. But may be it is humidity inside of the machine.
It is not heavy and has handle to carry.

Like: very quiet for power involved: energy saving (switches off on reaching set humidity for a time delay, then tries again in case the humidity has risen:) portability (stout carrying handle and castor wheels.)
Not so good: emptying the reservoir: it doesn’t pour very neatly: start outside or bath/shower tray, with practice, kitchen sink or loo. (Tip: it is easier if you empty it before it is completely full.)
Achilles heel: the power lead. If you keep the unit in one place, you won’t have a problem but portability was a selling point for me. The lead is flexible but not the sort you would find on a corded vacuum cleaner or portable power tool and is not suitable for repeated flexing, made worse by lack of cable support where the lead exits the casing. One of the conductors broke within the insulation at this point – but I was moving it three times a day.

Woow! Very efficient, it removes most of the moisture from the room, from 90% to 60%, didn’t achieved lower than that, but temp of the room is around 20′ so it probably be better if was warmer. Anyway, 2liters of water in 3h, hepa filter handy, after a week of using it I see huge improvement. Very good quality of build, I hope it last for a while.
This option is better than bigger one, it does not take to much space, its reasonable quiet but you can forget about sleeping with it in the same room, simply turn it off before.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve had a few dehumidifiers over the years, but this is the best one yet. As per the instruction manual supplied, it takes a few weeks for the dehumidifier to stabilise the humidity levels. After that, it consistently takes in about 3 to 4 litres of water each day, and cuts out when the pre-set humidity level is reached (I set mine to humidity level 55). The tank holds 2.5 litres, so it is convenient to empty the machine just twice per day (say, first thing in the morning, then again early evening). The noise level of the dehumidifier is quite low and it seems to be relatively energy efficient. The water tank is at the back of the machine, so if the dehumidifier is located in the corner of a room, it will have to be turned each time in order to access the tank (no big deal). Very happy with this machine!

I’m gob smacked at how quickly this has pulled out the moisture from the upstairs rooms in my home in such a small space of time. Impressed with the indicator on the unit that shows the moisture / humidity levels and within in less than an hour it was reduced by 10%.

It’s nice and compact, with a solid carrying handle. This is the first Meaco I’ve purchased, and it’s far better than a different branded unit that I’ve had for a few years.

The delivery was very quick, you can find it slightly cheaper elsewhere is my only negative.

Superb product. Easy to use, well made and is a real workhorse. You won’t believe how much water this device pulls out of the atmosphere it’s put in. Well worth every penny!

Very damp room in an old house we are about to renovate. Ran this unit for a few days and dried the whole place. Would probably be useful if drying a property after a flood, but very good anywhere there’s damp.

My wife has COPD, anything that helps her is worth every penny spent, it has HEPA filters which on its own makes it beneficial, we live in a bungalow and this device improves the air quality/humidity pretty much throughout, keeping humidity at around 40 helps a great deal, for the first week it was going all out and filling up the water container every 20-24 hours, not a small amount, now i only have to use the dehumidifier function for a few hours a day, the rest of the time its in AP or air purification mode. Would not be without this!
