Melitta Filter Coffee Machine with Insulated Jug, Timer Feature, Aroma Selector, Look Therm Timer Model, Black/Brushed Steel, 1011-16

Aroma Selector

With Melitta’s patented flavour selector, you can adjust the intensity of your coffee at the touch of a button: for a mild or strong coffee. You can, for example, enjoy a pick-me-up coffee at breakfast, and a gentle feel-good coffee after lunch. The Aroma Selector function ensures you constantly get the best taste, in a practical way without having to change the amount of water or coffee.

Practical timer feature

The timer feature with LED display gives you seductive coffee enjoyment when you want it. Programme a time for your coffee machine to start brewing and allow yourself (for example) to be woken up with the smell of fresh coffee. The appliance switches on automatically at the time you set.

Unbreakable insulated pot can be used with one hand

The Look Therm Timer comes with an insulated pot made of double-walled, stainless steel and is unbreakable and shockproof. Thanks to the brew-through lid, the coffee flows into the insulated jug ready to serve. It can be used with one hand, which makes it really easy to pour your coffee.

3-in-1 limescale protection

Only with regular descaling can you ensure that your coffee machine works perfectly. So the Melitta Look Deluxe gives you 3-in-1 limescale protection with programmable water hardness level, a calcification display and a convenient descaling programme.

Having used an Aeropress syringe to make my coffee for the past ten years, I finally thought I’d treat myself to something that’s a little more automatic. Plus my wife absolutely hates Aeropress and refuses to make me coffee using it, so I thought I’d pick up a filter machine as I had good memories of the coffee I made in a filter machine I bought from Makro some twenty years ago.

This machine has, so far at least, been fantastic. The machine is so simple to use: you simply add the paper and coffee grounds, fill it up with water and hit start. Then you end up with a jug of coffee that seems to stay warm for several hours without the need for a hotplate. The lack of a hotplate is fantastic: there’s no risk of boilding dry an empty glass jug and it’s cheaper to run too.

Cleaning it out is pretty simple too: the holder for the coffee paper is removable. The whole door that holds that part is also easily removable and washable too. The only downside is having to run it through with citric acid cleaning product every few weeks when the reminder light pops on but it’s really not that hard — I remove the inner plastic coffee holder and clean into a clear glass jug so that I, nor anyone else, doesn’t drink the cleaning fluid.

All told it’s a fantastic, unassuming product that does the one thing it’s here for well.

Edit: it’s still working well some two years later but the some black lining has started chipping off the inside of the jug. Now I’m not sure if this is some plastic layer or simply coffee reside that’s hardened. But it sometimes appears at the bottom of my mugs when I’ve finished my coffee, which is a bit disturbing. I can sometimes chip it off the jug too with a chopstick but I’m not able to remove it all.

We were looking to replace our leaking (and worktop-staining) Russell Hobbs machine which was less than 4 years old. We had a gift card so rather than just going for the cheapest one on here (which is often the case) we though we should spend a little more hopefully in exchange for better durability.

We settled on this machine because of the insulated jug which keeps coffee hot for ages, and doesn’t produce that burnt taste you get with a hot plate- plus it uses less electricity which must be a good thing, eh?

We also liked that the coffee holder and water tank lid are separate, making it easier to add water halfway through (admittedly not a frequent event) but it also meant it’s easier to fill in its position under our kitchen cabinets.

The only thing about the insulated jug is that the mouth is a little narrower than I’m used to on coffee pots which does make it harder to clean.

We haven’t used the timer function, the coffee tastes great – and is often hot (or at lest drinkably nice and warm) for up to 2 hours – much better than the standard filter machines.

Came with some free filters, which was a nice touch. We use No. 4s, and bought a shedload so we’re good for the next year I think.

I’ll report back once we’ve used the machine for a bit longer!

I’ve been looking for a coffee machine for quite some time. I wanted it to be just right. This machine is amazing! It’s all you could ever want: it makes great coffee (it obviously helps if you buy good coffee to start with lol), it’s easy to fill up with water, there’s a timer function which is a Godsend and most importantly it’s really easy to clean:-) There is a function that will tell you when you need to descale it (hasn’t happened yet). Makes the coffee real quick too, a full tank of water (supposedly 10 large cups) is done in less than 10 mins. I’ve found that when making ‘normal’ cup sized cups you need to estimate 1,5 cups on the machine to your 1 cup. the feature to be able to choose the strength of your coffee is great.

Makes a good coffee. Worth noting it doesn’t have a heating element to keep coffee hot, the Jug is Insulated so doesn’t need it. You might not get the morning coffee smell though that the norm heat plate gives.

As ever, Melitta makes excellent coffee machines. An especially good feature is the descaling function. The thermos type jug works well. The main gripe is the filter holder is a bit fiddly to get in place, but this is OK with practice. Overall very pleased and would buy another.

i use it everyday and tested all possible coffee strength to suit our mood. The timer function allows you to start the day with this wonderful coffee aroma, i love it ! it is very easy to use and to clean. The coffee stays warm for a long time. It is the perfect coffee machine. Oh, and it looks good in my kitche

If you have used the Melitta funnels and filter this is a coffee maker with thermos flask effectively. Good coffee, well filtered and kept warm for long periods, as with any thermos type system, if you remove coffee (and replace it with room temperature air) it cools down quicker. The maker has a timer for a coffee when you walk through the door.

We are delighted with this coffee maker which keeps coffee wonderfully hot for over an hour and DOESN’T LEAK! Previous units from other makers either leaked over the jug or worktop or were hard to pour without spilling. This unit has a small footprint so it fits into a corner, heats up quickly and then keeps the coffee hot in the insulated jug which is great. The only drawback is that you have to tilt the jug up a long way to pour out the last few drops which people with arthritic hands might find difficult.

Love this machine, especially love that it’s insulated, no stewed coffee on a hot plate with this machine. We use it every morning for breakfast, amazing how long it stays hot too, not that it lasts that long lol

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis machine is brilliant! Easy to use and produces consistently excellent quality drinking coffee. Is this the machine? Or the coffee? We use Melitta filter papers (size 4) with Waitrose Intense Dark & Distinctive Italian blend ground coffee (strength 5). The machine has an adjustable strength button, ours is set to strong. I’m assuming that this adjusts the volume/flow of water it allows to drip through the ground coffee to maximise the intensity of the flavour. A big advantage is the timer facility, perfect to wake up to freshly brewed coffee. We have never been let down by the flavour of coffee produced and in fact now prefer to have our coffee at home rather than visiting high street chain coffee outlets. Bingo! Money saving bonus, another plus on this economy front is the thermal insulated jug which is great for keeping coffee hot for at least 1 hour and still drinkable warm at 2 hours. So no hotplate to keep powered up, no stewed coffee taste and no breakable glass jug to replace. I love it, it is the best coffee machine for a real coffee addict!

It is a really good coffee maker. Very easy to use , you just put a couple of spoons of ground coffee in a paper filter and fill up the water reservoir to the level you want and press the button and the coffee starts to be prepared. One of the best things that I’ve bought this year.

I have had several filter coffee makers over the decades (they don’t last forever). Previously my husband and I had to by more than one to find one that made coffee at the right temperature without needing a hot plate to keep it warm (several had to be taken back). This is the best so far and the Timer function is so useful for having the coffee ready for you in the morning. The decalc function is also useful, for monitoring when required and for automatically slowly filtering through it.. The ability to alter the strength may be useful, but I have it set to the strongest so I haven’t tried it.out any other setting.

After 8 months of daily use I wouldn’t change it for the world! Provided you use Melitta filters, (test the different variants first to find the type which better suits your taste), a coffee measuring spoon to ensure you don’t waste coffee and you make it as strong as you like, and good quality ground coffee beans (I suggest single origin and I suggest asking for it to be ground at the setting suitable for paper filter coffee makers) you’ll end up with the best filter coffee you’ve ever had!
    Timer function works perfectly.
The steel jug holds the coffee warm for an hour at least (in cold weather and for longer in hot weather) and therefore a much better solution than getting the variant with the hot plate which gradually burns the coffee and consumes electricity for no good reason.
Lastly, after using it day in day out for 8 months, I’ve only had to descale it once last week!

Have recently converted back to filter from nespresso pods. Love this machine timer is easy to use, jug keeps the coffee hot for hours. The only problem I have had is finding which filter coffee I like, but that’s nothing to do with the machine, just personal preference. Comes with a few filter papers so you can get started, but took advice from a previous reviewer and ordered some on prime at the same time as they were a lot cheaper than the high street.

Easy to use! You do not need to use the timer. Filters after coffee can go straight into recycle food bin. Happy with this machine! Thermal flask is better for me than glass one as I am less likely to break it. The coffee seems hotter too

There are hundreds of fancy machines on the market, with capsules, pods and the like – however, if you just like a good cup of coffee I’d really recommend this. I’ll be honest, I’d not heard of the Melitta brand for years, having not bought coffee filters and I remember my Mum having a Melitta machine when I was a kid – nearly 40 years ago. However, I wanted a straightforward machine, with a timer and preferably one without those useless ‘hot plates’ that are supposed to keep them warm. So I narrowed the search to those with thermal jugs. This machine was one of them.

After procrastinating for ages on all the brands available, some incredibly cheap! I decided that it was ridiculous to spend so much time on something that was less than 100 and made a decision, largely based on the fact that Melitta has been around for years, and the pretty much specialise in all things ‘coffee’. The machine arrive promptly and was a doddle to unbox and set up. It looks neat, well made and feels solid.

In terms of coffee making (obviously) it’s great, easy, makes great coffee, it’s quick and quiet. The biggest plus to this machine has to be the thermal jug – not only does it feel solid unlike those standard, flimsy and fragile jugs, but it keep coffee, hot, not just warm, hot, for hours on end!! And not hot but ‘stewed’ – it’s as fresh 6 hours later as when it went in, meaning little wasted coffee. Typical filter machines keep the glass jug ‘warm’ for 45 mins or so, meaning you either have to drink it all then or throw it out.

To close, if you want a filter machine – buy this one!

This machine is easy to set up. Instructions are simple to follow and the coffee tastes great. The pot is a thermos pot. This means there is no hot plate that automatically turns off. I was amazed that how long the pot kept the coffee hot. After 5 hours it was still steaming in the mug once poured. Amazing. A purchase I will not regret.

I really love this coffee machine. After having a grind and brew by Cuisinart, I was a little worried this wouldn’t be able to compete. However, I got it at a great price and not oly does it make great tasting coffee (I drink mine black), it’s simple to use and clean.

An excellent piece of equipment. Previous had a filter coffee maker that used a glass jug and incorporated a hot-plate. This is far more efficient. It uses electricity for about 15 minutes and then keeps the coffee hot for a number of hours due to the insulated jug. Additionally, once the coffee has been made the jug can be removed a placed in any convenient location.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersArrived on the Saturday, easy to set up, rinse items under cold water before first use. I Set the timer for 07:30 on Sunday morning, I filled the reservoir just above 4 mugs (which is really 2 full mugs). I placed 2 scoops (coffee spoon/clip) of Tim Hortons coffee in the melitta1:4 filter for medium strength. I wanted to witness the timer, so at 07:28 I was waiting eagerly! Sure enough, 07:30, the timer clicked on and for the next 5 mins you could here the machine working away (a dull kettle sound, fairly quiet) and the faint aroma of fresh coffee! The machine stopped, I pulled the jug out, no drips and poured a large mug full, again no drips and a steaming HOT mug of coffee which tasted perfect. I poured another mug at 08:30 and it was still steaming HOT. Coffee all gone. Very easy to clean down, rinse the pot out, emptied the filter and wiped down, no mess anyway. Highly recommend, love it.

Did some reserch and found out about this one.what a difference, easier to use, quieter, more economical, great coffee ,easy to clean out with the paper filters and really hot coffee!!
No more turning the machine on again to keep the the coffee hot as with the russell hobbs, because the thermos jug really keeps it hot easily for a couple of hours, just right for a lazy sunday morning.

I used to use 7 scoops of coffee in my old coffee filter machine which held less water, but I only need to use 5 to get the same strength and it holds more water.

It’s very easy to use and the timer works fabulously so we have good, fresh coffee to wake up to.

The thermos jug keeps the coffee hot for a lot longer than 2 hours.

    I’m really happy with it.

After several months of daily use, I can confirm that this goober makes fantastic coffee and keeps it warm four hours! The only slight disappointment is that the jug has started to rust – it appears to collect water on the external seams.

Bought this to replace an old coffee machine and I’m so pleased I did. Using the filter papers makes for a smoother coffee and the thermal insulated jug keeps coffee warmer for longer without using more electricity on a “keep warm” function like some other brands.
Like the design and look, plus it’s easy to set up and program. Would recommend to friends and family.

A nicely styled, compact coffee maker. The drip coffee is hot enough (which is not always the case with other makers) Very easy to clean.
the CALC function reminds one to de-calcify frequently (you can adjust to the hardness of your local water) which seems to work well.
The metal (not glass) thermos flask into which the coffee drips keeps it hot for circa 1 hour and warm for several. Works well.
Very little mess if you use the standard filter paper cones.
NB if you want stronger coffee, just put in more coffee

This is probably our 5th or 6th coffee maker over ca 45 years. Coffee stays hot for a good 2 hours – long enough for late breakfasters at the weekend. Makes enough for 4 x 400ml mugs, so probably best for small households. Descaling easy – and no need to mark the calendar! Need smallish hands or a bottle brush to scrub the jug. I shall add this glowing review to the growing list of users who think this is the beez kneez. I’ve had it for about a month now and it’s just flashed up that it needs a ‘de-calc’ due to the super hard water we have here. Easy to do and great to know when to run the programme (a little light comes on). Great machine , very quick , keeps coffee hot for ages . Only negative is that when cleaning the jug water gets trapped between the plastic and metal leading to lots of dribbling . Once you know that it does this after cleaning just have to let it drain upside down and upright until dribbling stops . This would not stop me recommending this product to friends and family .

This is nice looking, easy to clean and produces tasty coffee – with none of those nasty grounds at the bottom of your cup. I have been using a cafetire for years but then read an article saying the best way to drink coffee is with an old school coffee maker. My parents had similar in the 80s but modern improvements include a base which isn’t heated and is therefore safer – as the jug is metal and insulated (and therefore also not hot to the touch). Love this and use nearly every day.

I’ve used the Melitta coffee maker several times each day since purchasing it and so far I’m very pleased with it. It’s easy to use and easy to clean. I chose a machine with an insulated jug rather than a hotplate as I find a hotplate can sometimes ‘cook’ the coffee and spoil it. Keeps your coffee hot for a couple of hours without making the coffee go bitter and using unnecessary electricity. Adjustable setting helps make a cracking coffee, and the militia gourmet filters get rid of any bits that you get with a cafetire or permanent mesh filter, best filter coffee machine I have ever used.

Fantastic machine; arguably the best filter coffee machine on the market. Great design, easy to use and makes amazing coffee. The Aroma selector allows you to adjust strength to taste, and is a feature I’ve only seen on selected Melitta models. The unbreakable jug is a genius bit of design. Keeps the coffee hot for a couple of hours without the traditional hot plate design (which can actually burn and impair the flavour of the coffee). Saves electricity this way, and keeps warm a lot longer than other machines that power off the hot plate after 30 minutes. Removeable filter cone for easy cleaning too. No to mention a generous 24 month guarantee from the manufacturer.

I love this! We drink a lot of coffee and get through a lot of machines. This is undoubtedly the best I have bought. It’s easy to use, the jug pours well and doesn’t drip. It makes great tasting coffee and because it is made by the company that makes the filter papers they fit perfectly and never fold over like I have experienced with other machines. Like many on here, I have had my own pre-conceives ideas of what makes great coffee and I had relegated the filter machine back to the 80s/90s. What I should have remembered is that I loved coffee then too.
This machine is of a good quality build and makes superb coffee. I use it mostly at work and it has been used a lot in a small space of time. The timer is simple and although not too heavy, the thermal jug feels solid and definitely does keep the coffee warm without that burnt taste associated with filter machines.
My one small gripe is that the jug is not the easiest to clean even with my small hands. Nothing a good soak wouldn’t fix though.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersMy favourite Coffee Maker so far. After having a second leaky reservoir from a pod type machine for which I struggled to get black coffee pods for in the shops, I decided to go back to filter and don’t regret it one bit. It’s cheaper to run as the paper filters not too costly and can buy lovely great priced coffee from a certain German supermarket. I love having the timer function on our particular model too. I set it each night for 6am and coffee still at drinking temperature by 9am (and beyond) due to the brilliant thermal jug. It’s quiet, reliable and makes a gorgeous cup of coffee (well several) all at once. Love it!

Ok so my husband NEEDS coffee in the morning. Since we moved, he was trying to make it with one of those single cup filter things… and every morning there was coffee all over the kitchen. We needed desperately a solution, and we got this one. It is easy enough for a sleepy man to get it going! no spillages since, and the coffee is pretty good, and stays warm all morning. Now everyone is happy in the mornings.

Bought this to stop the family discarding Tassimo pods. Works well, easy to set up and the timer means I have coffee ready before I get out of bed. The insulated pot keeps the coffee hot, so much better and safer than those with hot plates. Buy a 6g spoon. I bought the recommend spoon, 8g, which means a bit of mental arithmetic is needed (or a ready reckoner ). And the coffee tastes good.

Amazing item. The timer works perfectly and it makes seriously fantastic coffee that stays warm for most of a day!
I often start work at 7 so have it set for 5AM The coffee is quick to make and stays hot – not warm – for hours. Excellent machine about which I have no complaints at all.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersUsed this for a month now and am very pleased with this coffee maker. The thermal carafe sports a no-spill spout and keeps coffee warm for 4 hours. As the coffee is sealed in the carafe and there is no heating element the coffee retains its fresh taste much longer than other makers. The water tank is clearly marked on both sides. It uses Melitta paper filters that are widely available. The timer works great and as there is no heating element it turns itself off after about 10 minutes. The look of the maker itself is very nice in my opinion and the LCD screen is backlit. The aroma selector doesn’t make a bit of difference from what I can tell. Much more straight-forward to adjust the amount of water or grounds to make your coffee weaker or stronger. I can’t think of anything else to say about this except I suppose for cleaning you’d have to have delicate small hands to fit inside the carafe. Probably will use a sponge on a stick but so far a daily rinse has been enough.

Great machine. Just used this machine for the first time and it’s very easy to use and clean. It brews coffee in about 3 minutes. The measurements however are a bit off as it states 125ml is a large cup. I would advise 2 large cups per person. Other than that I would easily recommend this product.

We’re very pleased with this machine. The coffee it brews tastes good; and we like the idea of a vacuum jug. The only reason I’ve marked it down to four stars is that it isn’t always easy to get the last drops out of the jug: considerable tilting is required.

By the way, we’ve found that the universal size 4 coffee filter we bought works well with it.

Excellent product – insulated jug is very efficient and keeps coffee hot for hours without stewing it. Being stainless steel, rather than glass, it won’t explode, showering the kitchen with tiny fragments of glass, like the Bosch one we had before. It is easy to see the level of water in the tank, very important when you have just got up in the morning!

Great quality product. Nothing flimsy so feels like it’s going to last a very long time. I like the idea of keeping the coffee warm in an insulating pot rather than keeping the coffee warm with a hot plate and it works really well, in practice. I’ve had it a few weeks now so I’ve had chance to see how easy it is to clean; the only awkward bit is getting into the insulating pot but that can be done fairly easily with a bottle brush.

This makes excellent tasting coffee and is so easy to use. Timer function is brilliant to wake up to hot pot of coffee in the mornings.
After using a cafetiere for many years, the taste is different but noticeably there is very little residue in our cups when you have finished your cup of coffee – it must filter out more than a cafetiere. Great machine!

Just a little update ,, had this machine 2 years now always descaled when “asked to” and its still serving me well . I would purchase another in a heartbeat if this one failed . I have had more expensive ones before and they have not lasted this long ..

It’s quick at brewing the coffee and love the metal flask instead of the common china type. We set it up the night before switch on before a shower and it’s ready. We don’t know how we managed without it.

Compared to makers I have used previously, the brew, with a given quantity of beans, comes out stronger, thereby saving on coffee. The insulated jug maintains the brew at hot for at least 4 hours, thereby saving on reheating costs (or heat-maintaining hotplates). Size 4 permanent cone filters fit the holder so that disposable paper filters are not necessary.

  72. MiloLEstrange says:

Makes coffee at decent temperature. Easy to setup and use. Couple if minor things: if there is any liquid in the coffee compartment it will run through when you remove the jug. I believe it shouldn’t do that. Also the filter holder can be easily dislodged with slight upward contact, but is easy to replace. Tip: instructions recommend you use the large filter but I find the smaller ones work fine. Favourite part is the thermal jug which keeps the coffee warm for quite a while and can be placed on any surface as the base does not heat up

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersCoffee is my blood, over the years I have tried a lot of different machines and devices.
Melitta is delivering the best performance by far for my steady stream of lifeblood coffee.
I love the timer, my coffee is ready when I need it. Water is easy to pour in, cleaning is easy, adding filter and coffee is easy.
I love the heat maintained in the jug, four hours later – I still have hot coffee waiting for me.
It pours well, much better than all the glass jugs I have used. No hotplate needed as it is so heat efficient.
Just make sure you properly engage the jug before you switch on.
    Superb product.

Coffee is excellent. No need to microwave it like I did with my previous coffee maker. I see what some people say about the jug, it is a bit tricky to pour without spilling some coffee, but you get used to it.
Some people complain about the decalification warnings, but that’s just a set up parameter. So far, pretty happy with it. Just the jug could use a small design modification.

Like all machines you need good coffee and I find setting to a high intensity and useing just over 1 spoon (8g) just right. I tend to fill the water for 7 large cups and use 4 spoons of coffee. The timer function is awesome, I use it everyday. The best thing of all it’s so easy to clean.
I was a lover of Tassimo but I’ve been converted.

Use this coffee machine everyday! The timer function is great for brewing in time for breakfast. Easy to wipe down and descale using Melitta Descaler in Tablets, For Coffee Makers with Filters and Kettles, 4 x 20 g , in 30mins. Jug is good at keeping the coffee hot though it largely depends on how much liquid is used in the brewing process. Usually it’s just one big mug for myself and that will be good for at least 20mins. Problem with brewing so little is that the jug will often not pour freely and it feels like your’re over tilting for that last drop, leaving drips on the worktop.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAs a lifelong coffee lover, I have been through my share of coffee makers, from drip to percolator of every size and price. I can honestly say my dream coffee machine has arrived. The best and most flavorful cup of coffee I’ve ever had. The brewing is perfect the machine is pure simplicity and the best part, there is no sediment or grounds at the bottom of the thermo jug. I’m using a permanent filter which makes coffee preparation a snap. Hoping this machine lasts through the years, but if it doesn’t, another Melita will be taking its place. If you love your coffee as much as I do, this machine is a no brainer. Just buy one.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersSo pleased I got this. It took a little while to calculate the coffee/water ratio as 3 cups of water makes less than 3 cups of coffee (prob about 2.5) but it’s very simple to operate and a joy to wake to fresh coffee. I bought a “permanent” plastic filter separately from Amazon as i kept forgetting to buy paper ones and it fits perfectly.
The calcium reminder takes a bit of working out but it is a sensible idea and easy once you’ve done it once.
Much, much better than coffee being heated on electric plate and getting that burnt flavour.

A great coffee maker. Bought as a replacement for a more expensive model which also ground the beans but which was always temperamental – the old one periodically failed to turn on the timer or leaked coffee all over the work surface, and then died completely. This, by contrast, just works – makes great coffee (we dug out the old coffee grinder), is reasonably compact and is quiet in operation. Coffee is drunk in the house between the timer starting it up at 5.30am and 8.30am with no complaints about the temperature of the coffee.

I am so pleased with this coffee machine . I chose it having read other reviews. Mine had just passed away , so I was looking for a new one one but wanted a better one than my previous one . I had not had one which needed filters ,so was not certain about that , but I needn’t have worried, they are so much easier to use and the cost is minimal, even for a coffee fantatic like me . SO if your in the market for a machine look no further piping hot coffee with ease of use and the metal jug is a gift, it keeps the coffee hot without burning it to a crisp . Would recommend it with ease .

This is by far the best Filter Coffee Maker I have ever had. AND I have had many over the years. It is fast quiet and easy to clean. The thermal jug does keep coffee hot for several hours, not as some reports state that it does not. IT DOES WORK. The footprint is good and design fits in well with any kitchen. A truly excellent Coffee Maker. Using the genuine filter papers is best, and so easy and cheap to obtain from Amazon.

I had to experiment with amount of coffee and strength setting, but now that’s sorted I am really pleased with this product. Keeps coffee hot for over 2 hours and pours well. I am using Melitta filters as our old permanent filter does not allow the head to close properly; this is actually much more convenient for disposal but obviously has a cost. I have de-scaled once using distilled vinegar 50/50: the de-calc indicator came on after 6 weeks.

It’s robust and looks fab. The thermal jug is a joy and does keep coffee hot for an hour or so.
I’ve had the machine a few months and I’m still happy with it, the only one winge is the lingering smell you get from the thermal jug despite cleaning immediately after each use. It might just be me being fussy but I hate lingering smells you get from thermal flasks. I tried fresh lemon yesterday but still can’t eliminate. It dosnt effect coffee at all.
One of the best coffee filters I’ve ever owned and I’ve owned many! I’ve been buying since 1970’s

Very solid build and looks good on the kitchen worktop. Easy to work and the thermos type jug keeps the coffee good and hot without the need for a hotplate. With the machine turning itself off as soon as the last of the water has gone through I assume it is more economical than my last filter coffee maker which left the hotplate on for about 30 minutes after the coffee had finished brewing. The opening at the top is quite small so you cannot get your hand in to clean it but I rinse it straight after use and it seems to clean quite easily. Pleased with the purchase.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is a great coffee maker that produces really good, fresh coffee. Much better than all the other machines I’ve tried. Easy to set up and use, and with fairly decent ground coffee makes lovely hot coffee much better than most of the coffee shops you’ll ever go to….

Beware though, as other reviews have said, the “Cup” amount indicator is totally wrong, and I mean about 3x wrong!! We use just normal, smallish mugs and the number of cups we get is about 1/3 of what is says we’ll get – for BIG cups!! I’d hate to see how little the small cups are where they make these… thimble sized maybe?

I bought this to replace a previous Melitta Look coffee machine. This one is much nicer and user-friendly. The basket swings out for ease in filling the coffee (as opposed to lifting the lid where the coffee grinds sometimes got in the water reservoir). They kept the switch that allows you to make stronger or weaker coffee. The thermos pot pours coffee without dripping and keeps the coffee hot. I don’t use the timer for making coffee the following morning b/c I preheat the pot with hot water and this keep the coffee hot longer. Am very pleased with the purchase and the improvements from my previous one.

The only problem with this device is that I’m drinking too much coffee. The timer means that I can have coffee waiting when I get up in the morning, and the metal thermos jug means that it stays hot for hours without that slightly scorched hot plate taste. And its unbreakable, which is a plus. Downsides? There’s no way of seeing how much is left in the jug without taking the lid off.

It makes superb coffee (Using the correct paper filters) but the most wonderful thing about it it the thermos type jug. You can take it into the garden and it will stay hot for well over thirty minutes. No hot plate, just an amazingly insulated jug. It is easy to fill. It is simple to insert the coffee filter. Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThe best coffee maker you will ever buy!! This coffee machine does contain a thermal coffee pot which means your coffee will be hot for hours without burning it (meaning is not a hot plate and that the pot is made of stainless steel not glass or anything). The coffee machine is easy to use, put the coffee in the filter, add water, press the button for one minute and then turn it on(yes, sounds odd but it works or alternatively set a time) and presto you will have in a few minutes a really nice hot cup of coffee for you and your family!

It’s a bit bigger than it looks on the pictures. This machine can make 12 big cups of coffee or 15 small-medium cups of coffee. The delivery was fast and I love the coffee machine!

Best coffee machine ever, worth the extra money

The machine works well and is very quick with the brew cycle, I have read other reviews that complained about this type of caraf not keeping their coffee hot enough but I just pour in some boiled water from my kettle while I am grinding up some beans and that heats up the jug nicely. Just tip the water back into the kettle and brew away, coffee always steaming hot and will stay that way even an hour or more later and because the jug is a thermous and not kept heated by an electric base, the coffee is not bitter later on for a second cup. I am using the Melitta Gourmet filters and I can really taste the difference, superior to a conventional filter. The only negitive thing I can say is that I had to pay 2 seperate shipping charges due to the filters being back ordered and the shipping to Australia was a drag. Amazon was the cheapest with shipping of any other site to get this machine to OZ by 50GBP and since I ordered 5 boxes of filters I am fixed for the next year. Delivery was a day earlier than stated on the original email invoice so that was a plus+

I first saw this type of filter with the thermos jug in the US and was quite impressed. Previously we’ve always used the glass jug type which is a pain to keep clean looking. This feels much better made and seems nicer to use. It’s study, easy to clean and the clock / timer is easy to set. The water display levels are clearly visible on two sides and are easy to read. A wire basket from the old machine fits in nicely, saving the purchase of filter papers. The thermos jug also keeps the coffee warm for longer than the jug type, whilst saving you on electricity. So long as it remains reliable, I would definitely recommend. Why spend more on fancy machines if you like plain and simple, good quality coffee?

Within eight minutes he has, most importantly, a flask full of deliciously satisfying coffee – hot and full of flavour. He can start the day with two mugs of coffee then, after a leisurely breakfast,go out for over an hour’s walk with the dogs. Knowing that on his return a further two or three cups of the coffee will still be hot and taste as good as the first two! Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersA brilliant machine. Coffee is hot and stays so for several hours without stewing as its in an airtight thermal jug rather than being heated in a glass jug from the hotplate. Timer is a bonus and easy to use. Once set, it retains time and pressing “Timer’ button switches it on at that time – great for weekdays to shorten coffee ready time. Just using the manual on button is simple and it brews a full pot (for my large mugs = 5 mugs) quickly and without any annoying beeps or whistles. Fills easily. Have to use paper filters but I prefer these as they come cleanly out of the insert into compost or bin without having to deal with messy dregs. Good build quality.
