Melitta: Pioneers of Coffee Industry Since 1908
Melitta has led the coffee industry since 1908, when founder Melitta Bentz made the world’s first paper filter bags. Now 20 billion filter bags are used world-wide on a yearly basis, and this conscientious German organisation continues to lead the way in coffee-related innovation.
From the best filter makers and fully automatic bean-to-cup machines to useful accessories for the pour-over hand-filtration method, the Melitta brand continues to design and retail coffee products of the utmost quality.
At a glance:
- Measuring system on water tank for making up to 10 large cups (125ml) or 15 small cups (85 ml)
- Adjustable coffee intensity thanks to Aroma Selector
- Coffee stays hot for 2 hours thanks to thickness and strength of pot
- Brew ready at the right time thanks to the Timer Feature
- Easy to pour with one hand
- Cable-storage compartment
- Tested for safety with VDE certification
Aroma Selector
With Melitta’s patented flavour selector, you can adjust the intensity of your coffee at the touch of a button: for a mild or strong coffee. You can, for example, enjoy a pick-me-up coffee at breakfast, and a gentle feel-good coffee after lunch. The Aroma Selector function ensures you constantly get the best taste, in a practical way without having to change the amount of water or coffee.
Practical timer feature
The timer feature with LED display gives you seductive coffee enjoyment when you want it. Programme a time for your coffee machine to start brewing and allow yourself (for example) to be woken up with the smell of fresh coffee. The appliance switches on automatically at the time you set.
Unbreakable insulated pot can be used with one hand
The Look Therm Timer comes with an insulated pot made of double-walled, stainless steel and is unbreakable and shockproof. Thanks to the brew-through lid, the coffee flows into the insulated jug ready to serve. It can be used with one hand, which makes it really easy to pour your coffee.
3-in-1 limescale protection
Only with regular descaling can you ensure that your coffee machine works perfectly. So the Melitta Look Deluxe gives you 3-in-1 limescale protection with programmable water hardness level, a calcification display and a convenient descaling programme.

Entry level that simply works grea
I was after a coffee machine as I dip my toes in to the world of coffee beans, roasting and filtering.
This is made by a quality brand and I say done extremely well.
There’s no getting away from this being a Melitta entry level model.
And my calling it a coffee machine is possibly an exaggeration.
Bulk of the cost has clearly gone in design and the metal flask,as its wholly made of plastic and is very lightweight.
In a nutshell it is either timed to come on or instantly filter coffee, which will suit many for its ease of use.
Timer function only has one option, input a time and it simply turns on at that time and stays on until all the water has left the reservoir in to the flask.
So with that in mind you have to fill the reservoir to the amount of cups you desire.
Its not a case of you fill the reservoir to the top and select an option to deliver your desired amount of cups.
So you have to make sure the amount off water in the reservoir matches the cups desired and coffee added.
Timer is accurate, filtering is quick, you get a little coffee aroma and flask will keep you ticking over with coffee for a couple of hours which is nice.
The strength slider simply increases or decreases water flow pressure so find that a bit gimmicky. I simply keep it about full as I don’t want to lose flavour and waste expensive coffee. And to be fair it appears it needs to be on full to get a decent strength without using excessive amounts of coffee.
To clean I simply swill the flask and filter holder straight after use ready to go again.
If you want an all singing and dancing expresso/frothy coffee machine then this isn’t for you.
If you want to wake up to a simple, nicely filtered flask of black coffee ready to pour that looks decent on your worktop then it is.

Love this coffee machine, perfect coffee every time!
Absolutely love this coffee machine. Coffee comes out lovely and smooth no sludge in bottom of cup like the previous machine. Coffee stays hot in the thermos jug without changing the taste of the coffee. Since the start of lockdown hubby working from home and using coffee machine alot more, this one will be alot more cost effective as we dont throw the cold coffee away, just wish id bought it sooner. Had the ninja coffee bar before this which was almost twice the price and I would not recommend at all, but the Mellita is a great machine for a great price too.
Fantastic machine
I love this machine. I have had Nespresso, Tassimo, and other filter machines and this one is the best. The stainless jug keeps my coffee warm for over 3 hours and the timer function is great for walking up to a nicely brewed coffee in the morning. It’s a great machine, cannot recommend highly enough.

Great value
I never heard of this brand before but this is a nice piece of kit.
Pros:
– Makes around 5 full regular size mugs of coffee.
– Brews and percolates fast, around eight mins at the most.
– Not too loud.
– Thermos jug keeps the coffee drinkably hot for at least 4 hours.
– Comes with 6 filter papers to get you started.
Cons:
– Doesn’t come with a permanent filter, but you can buy a size 4 mesh filter cheaply and they work fine.
– You can’t remove the base if you need to deep clean it because, erm, you spilled coffee all over it when you forgot to put the filter holder back in it before brewing….
So yeah, just remember to always put it back together properly after cleaning 😀
Heartily recommended.
Great machine
This produces good coffee and is very easy to use and clean. The timer has worked perfectly and I can now get up to freshly brewed coffee. The only drawback for me is that the pot is awkward to clean but that is outweighed by everything else.

No
This is a nice coffee machine I had a Mellita coffee machine years ago so stuck with the same make the only thing I don’t like is that you have to hold down the sealing lever on top of jug but I have Arthritis it might not bother any one else
WOW just WOW
After using many coffee machines over the years Aeropress at the moment.excellent machine but it has a drawback like many of these appliances ,they only make one mug full. this little beauty makes five mug fulls {10 cups on the water gauge} the timer is a great add on ,woke up this morning to coffee .a great machine ,great flavour i use Taylors of harrowgate Hot java Lava strength 6 .the thermal jug keeps it hot for a long time .just buy i
Just what I needed in the morning, if you're lazy but buy this
I’ve been getting more info my coffees over the last few years and I was content with my French press up until recently where it started becoming a chore.
Looked into filter machines and this would seemed to fit the bill.
The timer setting is perfect as I just set it for 9am after I put in a new filter paper each night + grounded coffee.
Great coffee machine
This is my third coffee pot this year. The light of my life and all round good guy, my hubby, is also a clumsy oaf. He’s managed to bounce two glass jugs round the kitchen. It goes against my nature to throw things away so try as I might to get replacement jugs I’ve ended up getting a new device.
This coffee pot comes with two excellent features in one. The metal jug! It not only claims to be indestructible but it keeps the coffee hot. It really does keep it hot too.
It means there is no keep warm feature, because it is not required. So, robust and a more eco friendly.
I am genuinely delighted with this product.

…Braw!!!…Lovely cup of coffee from a cracking coffee machine. My last Tesco’s-cheap-as-chips coffee machine gave up the ghost on Sunday morning …so I bought this beauty, it makes a braw cuppa Java and the thermal jug keeps the freshly brewed coffee hot for at least an’ hour after making it. I haven’t tried the timer system yet, but if the initial results are anything to go by I’m sure I won’t be disappointed!
Very pleased
Combined with the reusable filter we bought, this machine produces a lovely cup of coffee, quickly! The filter that is offered by Amazon is not the best fit but it works.
The feature we really like is the thermos jug. 2 hours after making a jug of coffee it is still warm and it is not bitter from sitting on the hotplate. leave the intensity knob at full, great flavour. We use Aldi French coffee and have used Tesco and Asda. The intensity knob seems to be the key to a lovely cup.
Great coffee make
I wanted a coffee maker that could make at least 10 cup volume, but also keep the coffee hot for a while. This one fitted the bill, and at the offer price of 50 I was willing to have a punt. Its great! Easy to fill both for water and coffee. I use just normal paper filters that I had in anyway and they are fine. I could squeeze in my universal plastic cone but it was a squeeze as the holder isn’t quite round all the way round. But it would probably work ok. The coffee tastes great, it looked pretty pale when I poured it out but was actually full of flavour. The vacuum jug keeps it hot for hours, and it tastes just as good at the end as the start as it hasn’t been left stewing on a hot plate. Ive made coffee in the morning, and 6 hours later the leftovers are still warm enough to drink (although not piping hot). Would recommend to anyone looking for a simple coffee maker.

Overall excellent!
Pros:
* Sturdy build and feels premium. Parts feel quality.
* Timer and clock really easy to set. Light is subtle.
* The thermal jug – this thing stays warm for hours!
Makes a good coffee. Taken a day or so for the taste to really come out.
* Easy to keep clean. Easy to fill.
Cons:
* Water drip system isn’t as good as shower head models. Grounds end up with a hole in the middle. Takes a lot of coffee for best brew.
*Doesn’t make the hottest coffee, so if you like it milky this probably isn’t the machine for you.
* As with all other filter machines- the non-drip system drips!
* Steel attracts fingerprints.
* Should come with a permanent filter.

Love this coffee make
Love this coffee maker. Coffee stays hot longer than the 2 hours. I saw a review where someone who purchased the white make didn’t have the ridges for pouring but the one I got does.
I am so happy with this purchase and would buy it again!
Perfect Coffee/hot for hours
I was really sceptical about buying a coffee machine without a hotplate. Needn’t have worried. The stainless steel jug on the Melitta coffee machine keeps coffee hot for up to 3 hours (easily) without the ‘stewed’ taste that can occur with hotplate machines. Love my purchase. Great delivery without issues. Very happy to recommend.
Easy, hot and delicious coffee
Easy to use with simple instructions and great features. The coffee stays hot for ages. Comes with 5 free size 4 filters but we’ll probably invest in a reusable one. Set the timer function for this morning and true to its word delivered a pot of piping coffee in a few minutes. Highly recommended.
his is a fantastic produc
we use this everyday it keeps the coffee hot and you can take the pot to the table and not have to keep returning to the machine to keep it hot
best coffee maker we have every had
I must admit I don’t normally bother writing reviews and Im no coffee expert. I chose this one because I was used to just going to the office coffee jug and pouring a cup all day long. With the stupid EU rules hot plates can no longer stay on all day keeping the coffee warm so they all shut off after 30-40 mins 🙁 no good if I make a full pot. So I found this one.
I didn’t really believe the people saying the insulated jug stayed hot for hours but thought it was worth a try. Well, I made a pot last night at 6pm and it was hot all evening. I came to throw the remaining coffee out at 1pm today and was amazed to find that it was still warm! ok, not “hot” but warm enough to drink in a pinch. Unbelievable really!

Great value coffee make
Replaced a Kenwood model with this and so far am very impressed. The jug keeps the coffee warm for a good couple of hours, but to be honest it’s normally drunk before then! How we lived without a timer function for so many years is beyond me!
Great machine, great coffee
This is just brilliant. I’ve had pod style machines before but with now working from home decided I’d like something that made a few coffees in one go. The timer is easy to use and I set it up each night so that I get up to a pot of coffee. The jug is very good, keeps coffee warm for several hours. And it makes really good coffee. I did a bit of research before I bought and worked out Melitta was the one I wanted and this is a really good value model.

If you love coffee buy this machine
Forget the 1000 fancy coffee machines but this one. Brews very tasty coffee very easily, timer use is great in the morning to wake up to freshly brewed coffee. Intensity of the coffee can be adjusted, if you like it strong fill in another spoon full of coffee. Coffee stays hot in the thermos can. Best decision I made after our 500 Gaggia broke.
Great filter machine for coffee lovers
I love coffee and wanted a filter machine after using a pod machine and it’s great and easy to clea
Keeps coffee ho
Good coffee maker. The whole reservoir is clear so you can see how much water is going in and the pot really does keep the coffee hot for hours with no hot plate. Only downside is that you can’t see how much coffee is left in the pot.
Would definitely recommend
This is the 2nd one we have purchased. We now have two side by side for decaffeinated & caffeinated so neither of us have to go without a decent coffee. This 2nd one has had its pouring function improved & doesn’t have a “drippy” spout like our original one. Very pleased & would definitely recommend.
Very good coffeemake
Fantastic machine. Lovely flavour, provided you move the dial to strong coffee. Timer works well and can come in handy. The jug doesn’t really need pre heating although for really hot coffee you might want to do it.

Absolutely love this machine, has a very solid look and feel about it. I bought this purely for the timer setting, as nothing gets me out of bed better than having a coffee first thing, so this is actually in my room with a cup next to it, and the room FILLS with the amazing smell of quality coffee
Setup as any coffee machine is the same: get a paper filter, load it with approx 2 heaped tablespoons per cup (I use a bit more as i like my coffee strong), put water into the required level on resevoir, then you have 2 options:
Either press the on button to have your coffee brewing immediately, or hold the timer button while setting up what time you want it to start pouring, then when you release the button after setting the time, just press timer once and it will come on at the desired time.
There are a couple of cons to this, but nothing major: firstly, when you set it to come on for a desired time the light on the timer stays on to say it’s set, that would normally be fine but I have it in my pitch black bedroom so have to find a way of covering the light. Secondly, the reservoir is way off what we consider a standard cup size. I like to have 2 cups in the space of a few hours, and have found that I need to fill it to the 4 cup mark to achieve this.
However, the best thing about this is the thermal jug, which eliminates the old glass on a warming plate method. When you pour your first coffee after it is done, it’s a very nice, very hot cup of coffee. I have one about 3 hours later, and its still hot enough to drink black, and as it hasn’t been on a warming plate, it doesn’t taste “stewed” like ones I’ve had before. Just remember to put good quality coffee in!
The strength selector is a nice feature, as it dictates the strength of your coffee, so have a play around until you find your desired cup of coffee. I would definitely recommend this machine, it’s worth paying the extra for such good quality, now if they could only invent an espresso machine on a timer and I’d be in heaven
Pros:
Timer feature
Insulated jug keeps drink hot for hours
Looks and feels like good quality
Strength selector
Doesn’t drip
Machine switches off when drink has poured and reservoir is empty, so no need to panic about hazards
Has a calcium warning light, and decalium function, plus water hardness selector
Makes you never want to drink disgusting instant coffee again
Cons:
Timer switch stays lit up
Reservoir inaccurate
Yes, yes, yes!!!
This baby is amazing. We have had the sturdy DeLonghi for years and it served us well until the hot plate started to fail. My husband had his eye on the Cusinart but having read the reviews, particularly with the grinder function that tends to break, wanted something that was reliable and well built all round. This has not disappointed. It’s amazing. We are only on day three so I can’t speak to reliability. Coffee is always hot and fresh. Taste is great. Well designed and thought out. Makes a nice sound when it makes the coffee. And the timer function means hot fresh coffee when you stumble out of bed. My husband —who runs on coffee—said it was “life changing”. We take our coffee to go out of the house in travel mugs and are very happy with it.

Impressive flavour remarkable coffee machine coffee stays hot 4 hours
I’m so thrilled with this coffee machine it pulls out so much flavour and the option to have so many different strengths is wonderful with that intensity adjuster and it works really well as for keeping the coffee warm it really keeps it hot all day, I come to my pot 6 hours later and I can still have a nice cup of coffee it keeps it hot for about 4 hours and it’s still warm 8 hours later, it’s got a handy clean function and the tray is completely removable so it’s so much easier to rinse and keep clean and the timer is great just remember to set it up the night before and your coffee is ready for you when you wake up in the morning but don’t worry if you forget it only takes about 10 minutes to brew an entire pot I put 3 scoops in mine as I like strong coffee and it pulls all the flavour out without burning the coffee, there is no plastic or metallic chemical taste with this coffee machine like you you can get with so many others, I’m extremely happy with my purchase as I’m quite fussy when it comes to coffee and I have Fallen in love with how much flavour this machine gives without destroying or changing the coffee flavou

Easy to set up, makes fab coffee quickly, keeps it hot!
Glad I read the reviews! You won’t be disappointed! Easy to use, keeps coffee warm in thermo jug for over The 2 hours stated. So fab to wake up to delicious coffee already made!
Brillia
This is the best coffee maker of this type that I have ever experienced.
Not using a heating element but an insulated flask is genius. The coffee stays hot for hours (!) without any deterioration in flavour.
I love this. The timer function is great and very easy, too.
I love this.
I have had a number of coffee machines over the years but this is without doubt my favourite. The proof of this is that I use it most days whereas others have sat gathering dust after initial use. I love this because it is simple, it keeps my coffee hot without it stewing on a hot plate and very importantly it is very easy and quick to clean. It keeps the coffee hot for a good three hours and very warm probably a little longer. You can make as much or as little as you like. I use paper coffee filters but you can buy a gold permanent filter if you prefer. Love it.

Brillant!
This is the best coffee machine we have had, so far! I read many reviews before buying this product and ordered it with some trepidation…..one never knows what is fact or fiction these days with reviews. Although I have only had it for a few days I am very impressed. It actually does what it says it will do and has delivered me the best cups of coffee. It somehow manages to get the best out flavour out of the filtered coffee, I have been using for years.
Keep warm jug is fantastic
I bought this for my office. I am hugely impressed by it as are all the staff. Another office have now bought one as a result. Keeps the coffee warm for hours in the pot (4hrs at least) and doesn’t turn the taste bitter.
Makes a lovely coffee (to my taste and I’m a bit of a coffee snob). No it’s not a high end brand bean to cup but for the money, I think it’s great.
Need a great coffee machine with no leak or breaking down? Perfect taste? Then buy this
Wasted so much money on coffee machines b4 finally giving in and buying a melitta! What can I say….I wish I had done so before! From the first cup you will know what real coffee tastes like. Even though it doesn’t have a keep warm button the thermal mug does that for you. I had my timer set for 6am snd I over slept for work today and the coffee was still steaming hot like it had just been ran. Love love love it! My next purchase is gunna be the melitta with the ground beans but this melitta is going nowhere. I’m s coffee addict so I know my coffee. Trust me you NEED THIS

Great design details
Spent ages researching, almost bought a coffee maker with an integrated grinder, but so glad I didn’t! This device works perfectly:
* If you’re setting it up the night before, there’s no point grinding the beans yourself. Just get the cafe to do it when you buy them!
* The bottom of the dripper & the top of the carafe have valves that open when you’re setting it up to make coffee. By pulling the carafe out the valves close, so there’s no drips, and your coffee stays airtight.
* The coffee stays hot a LONG time. I’ve been making one batch at 7am and drinking a cup after lunch, it tastes fine.
* The coffee stays fresh too, since the carafe is really well-sealed.
* The intensity setting changes how much water is delivered in the centre of the basket vs the surroundings. I set mine to 80% and it works v well.
* The “number of cups” is nonsense. It works out to 2 “large cups” on the water adder for each good-sized mug of brew.
* I recommend 54g coffee, fairly coarse grind, 6 “large cups” of water. Set it for 7am and you’re golden.
As good as my old moccamaster & grinder setup was, this is way more practical.

As good as my old moccamaster & grinder setup was, this is way more practical.
good buy
Have had this for a few months now and am still pleased with my purchase. It’s smaller than I had thought so fits nicely on the worktop, looks good but, most importantly, reliably makes good coffee. The jug doesn’t really keep the coffee hot but it is warm for a couple of hours.
Does what it says and makes coffee
Works well so far. Cut out time of 15 mins is a bit of a bind but will get use to that. Thermos type jug is a real bonus since no heat is lost as was the case with a glass jug and coffee is hotter than the old Krupp’s machine. Once all the stickers are removed certainly looks the part.
Love it!!
Bought a coffee filter on amazon but it never kept the coffee hot enough (half hour on plate) so bought this and was impressed as it looks expensive and when made a jug of coffee, can stay hot for at least 3/4 hours!!! Ordinary filter machine have a glass jug, where this one is stainless steel and almost like a flask so making coffee stay hotter for longer. Use this every day and wouldn’t be without it now.
Excellent in all respects.
I bought this as a gift but the recipients say it’s an excellent product and much better than thier two previous coffee machines.
Good quality machine
Looks good. Compact. Easy to use. You can’t choose cup size. If I’m only having a cup, I fill that cup with water and make the coffee with that. It keeps making the coffee with what water is in the tank. At first my coffee was weak (too much water) the jug is good at keeping the coffee hot though.
Easy to use, environmentally friendly too
Fed up with our old coffee machines which kept breaking so though I would try this instead. So far very impressed, good tasting coffee. Having been used to a hot plate on our old machine which kept the coffee warm for 40 mins before shutting off I was a little apprehensive about not having a hot plate on this model which uses an insulated jug but actually its better for the environment because it use less electric and the jug keeps the coffee hot for over 2 hours so in fact I prefer this method.

Best Coffee Make
I find this a perfect brewing machine. The strength of the coffee can be tuned with the switch at the top and it keeps the coffee warm for a whole day! I was surprised to find the coffee still warm in the late evening. Plus it doesn’t need any coaster for the table. Top marks!
Solid made good value easy cleaning
Seems good value for money different concept with a thermal flask nice design solid made still trying to get to grips with the flavour not sure.
Exactly what is needed from a coffee machine
Was looking for a decent coffee machine with a Thermos, not one to drink that luke warm stuff that comes out of those pods, plus the unnecessary waste they produce. Love this machine, looks tidy, easy to fill and program, coffee is fresh, hot and ready at 6am, and the Thermos keeps it hot a few hours. Tip: don’t fill completely, than top
up with hot milk, stays hot till the afternoon. Oh, and didn’t cost an arm and a leg, either. Highly recommend
Stylish and Great Coffee
Love this coffee machine. It looks great and is very sleek and stylish.
The intensity feature is a massive bonus and allows me to have a strong intense coffee on a morning and then a milder coffee later in the day.
The timer function is fantastic and means I wake up and the coffee is ready within minutes, so brilliant from a time saving perspective.
The water level guide has two different numbers, one being for espresso measures and the other for full coffee. This is a massive plus in my eyes as so many machines only show the quantities for espresso cups!
The machine itself is slightly bigger than I had originally presumed it to be which did mean I had to do some re-arranging in the kitchen in order to fit it.
Also in the instructions it said the jug lid was machine safe which when I first read it I thought meant the jug and lid were machine safe. They aren’t! It hasn’t broke the jug or anything but it did retain excess water and take nearly two days to dry out properly. The instructions could do with being updated to specifically say that the jug is NOT washing machine safe!

I originally bought this coffee maker a few years back. It started to develop a leak which meant each morning I was greeted with a puddle on the work surface after I’d filled the container overnight.
However, as I thought this made a good cup and it kept the coffee hot in the pot, I ordered the same one again as a replacement.
They have redesigned this since my original purchase. The fill indicators on the front are now in white, instead of black, as shown in the main image at the top of the page.
The bigger change, though, is in adding grooves to the spout of the pot – this improves the pouring so much. The earlier design certainly had a tendency to splash if you were not careful. The new design, however, means the liquid comes out in a controlled, steady stream. So much better.
So in summary – they have fixed the wayward spout in this new design – so there’s no reason not to make that purchase now!
Superb filter machine
After having several espresso machines costing upwards of 350 that are a pain to use i went back to a good old filter machine. This one is amazing. So easy to use makes a pot full of perfect temperature coffee in under 10 minutes and the thermo pot keeps it hot for a good couple of hours. So much cheaper to buy bags of ground coffee rather than the overpriced pods I’ve been buying for years. I’d forgotten how good filter coffee is. The machine also looks really modern and stylish on the counter top.

Great quality and value
We’ve had this machine a couple of weeks now. It replaces a DeLonghi that had done well for several years. This however appears to be a much better filter coffee machine. The quality is great and it looks very good. The coffee it produces has very good flavour (we have the aroma setting quite high). The thermal jug keeps the coffee at a very good temperature for hours and the timer means that we can wake up with great tasting coffee first thing in the morning…. and it’s much quieter and much quicker than our previous machine. Probably a bit more expensive but definitely worth the money. We haven’t yet needed to descale so can’t comment on the accuracy of the descale ‘alert’ feature at this time. Would definitely recommend this Melitta machine.

Fantastic coffee maker that's well designed and doesn't cost the earth
Having used an Aeropress syringe to make my coffee for the past ten years, I finally thought I’d treat myself to something that’s a little more automatic. Plus my wife absolutely hates Aeropress and refuses to make me coffee using it, so I thought I’d pick up a filter machine as I had good memories of the coffee I made in a filter machine I bought from Makro some twenty years ago.
This machine has, so far at least, been fantastic. The machine is so simple to use: you simply add the paper and coffee grounds, fill it up with water and hit start. Then you end up with a jug of coffee that seems to stay warm for several hours without the need for a hotplate. The lack of a hotplate is fantastic: there’s no risk of boilding dry an empty glass jug and it’s cheaper to run too.
Cleaning it out is pretty simple too: the holder for the coffee paper is removable. The whole door that holds that part is also easily removable and washable too. The only downside is having to run it through with citric acid cleaning product every few weeks when the reminder light pops on but it’s really not that hard — I remove the inner plastic coffee holder and clean into a clear glass jug so that I, nor anyone else, doesn’t drink the cleaning fluid.
All told it’s a fantastic, unassuming product that does the one thing it’s here for well.
Edit: it’s still working well some two years later but the some black lining has started chipping off the inside of the jug. Now I’m not sure if this is some plastic layer or simply coffee reside that’s hardened. But it sometimes appears at the bottom of my mugs when I’ve finished my coffee, which is a bit disturbing. I can sometimes chip it off the jug too with a chopstick but I’m not able to remove it all.

Great filter machine
We were looking to replace our leaking (and worktop-staining) Russell Hobbs machine which was less than 4 years old. We had a gift card so rather than just going for the cheapest one on here (which is often the case) we though we should spend a little more hopefully in exchange for better durability.
We settled on this machine because of the insulated jug which keeps coffee hot for ages, and doesn’t produce that burnt taste you get with a hot plate- plus it uses less electricity which must be a good thing, eh?
We also liked that the coffee holder and water tank lid are separate, making it easier to add water halfway through (admittedly not a frequent event) but it also meant it’s easier to fill in its position under our kitchen cabinets.
The only thing about the insulated jug is that the mouth is a little narrower than I’m used to on coffee pots which does make it harder to clean.
We haven’t used the timer function, the coffee tastes great – and is often hot (or at lest drinkably nice and warm) for up to 2 hours – much better than the standard filter machines.
Came with some free filters, which was a nice touch. We use No. 4s, and bought a shedload so we’re good for the next year I think.
I’ll report back once we’ve used the machine for a bit longer!

Best coffee machine eve
I’ve been looking for a coffee machine for quite some time. I wanted it to be just right. This machine is amazing! It’s all you could ever want: it makes great coffee (it obviously helps if you buy good coffee to start with lol), it’s easy to fill up with water, there’s a timer function which is a Godsend and most importantly it’s really easy to clean:-) There is a function that will tell you when you need to descale it (hasn’t happened yet). Makes the coffee real quick too, a full tank of water (supposedly 10 large cups) is done in less than 10 mins. I’ve found that when making ‘normal’ cup sized cups you need to estimate 1,5 cups on the machine to your 1 cup. the feature to be able to choose the strength of your coffee is great.

Grea
Makes a good coffee. Worth noting it doesn’t have a heating element to keep coffee hot, the Jug is Insulated so doesn’t need it. You might not get the morning coffee smell though that the norm heat plate gives.
Excellent machine with a few small design flaws.
As ever, Melitta makes excellent coffee machines. An especially good feature is the descaling function. The thermos type jug works well. The main gripe is the filter holder is a bit fiddly to get in place, but this is OK with practice. Overall very pleased and would buy another.
Fantastic coffee machine !
i use it everyday and tested all possible coffee strength to suit our mood. The timer function allows you to start the day with this wonderful coffee aroma, i love it ! it is very easy to use and to clean. The coffee stays warm for a long time. It is the perfect coffee machine. Oh, and it looks good in my kitche
Not just a Coffee Maker!!!
Simply FANTASTIC!!! Wish I’dpurchased this years ago. It certainly makes life a lot easier in every single aspect of ‘coffee life’!!!
main coffee maker at work
If you have used the Melitta funnels and filter this is a coffee maker with thermos flask effectively. Good coffee, well filtered and kept warm for long periods, as with any thermos type system, if you remove coffee (and replace it with room temperature air) it cools down quicker. The maker has a timer for a coffee when you walk through the door.

Keeps coffee wonderfully hot.
We are delighted with this coffee maker which keeps coffee wonderfully hot for over an hour and DOESN’T LEAK! Previous units from other makers either leaked over the jug or worktop or were hard to pour without spilling. This unit has a small footprint so it fits into a corner, heats up quickly and then keeps the coffee hot in the insulated jug which is great. The only drawback is that you have to tilt the jug up a long way to pour out the last few drops which people with arthritic hands might find difficult.

Great coffee
Love this machine, especially love that it’s insulated, no stewed coffee on a hot plate with this machine. We use it every morning for breakfast, amazing how long it stays hot too, not that it lasts that long lol
This machine is brilliant! Easy to use and produces consistently excellent quality drinking coffee. Is this the machine? Or the coffee? We use Melitta filter papers (size 4) with Waitrose Intense Dark & Distinctive Italian blend ground coffee (strength 5). The machine has an adjustable strength button, ours is set to strong. I’m assuming that this adjusts the volume/flow of water it allows to drip through the ground coffee to maximise the intensity of the flavour. A big advantage is the timer facility, perfect to wake up to freshly brewed coffee. We have never been let down by the flavour of coffee produced and in fact now prefer to have our coffee at home rather than visiting high street chain coffee outlets. Bingo! Money saving bonus, another plus on this economy front is the thermal insulated jug which is great for keeping coffee hot for at least 1 hour and still drinkable warm at 2 hours. So no hotplate to keep powered up, no stewed coffee taste and no breakable glass jug to replace. I love it, it is the best coffee machine for a real coffee addict!

Best machine I've bought this year.
It is a really good coffee maker. Very easy to use , you just put a couple of spoons of ground coffee in a paper filter and fill up the water reservoir to the level you want and press the button and the coffee starts to be prepared. One of the best things that I’ve bought this year.
Brill
Excellent product and I highly recommend it. Love the timer function and very easy to clean this item.
Great not to have to worry about a hot plate.
Can’t fault it!!! So far so good!
Makes good coffee AT THE RIGHT TEMPERATURE that stays hot in the thermal flask
I have had several filter coffee makers over the decades (they don’t last forever). Previously my husband and I had to by more than one to find one that made coffee at the right temperature without needing a hot plate to keep it warm (several had to be taken back). This is the best so far and the Timer function is so useful for having the coffee ready for you in the morning. The decalc function is also useful, for monitoring when required and for automatically slowly filtering through it.. The ability to alter the strength may be useful, but I have it set to the strongest so I haven’t tried it.out any other setting.

No need to look at more expensive coffee makers! Top quality at an unbeatable price!
After 8 months of daily use I wouldn’t change it for the world! Provided you use Melitta filters, (test the different variants first to find the type which better suits your taste), a coffee measuring spoon to ensure you don’t waste coffee and you make it as strong as you like, and good quality ground coffee beans (I suggest single origin and I suggest asking for it to be ground at the setting suitable for paper filter coffee makers) you’ll end up with the best filter coffee you’ve ever had!
Timer function works perfectly.
The steel jug holds the coffee warm for an hour at least (in cold weather and for longer in hot weather) and therefore a much better solution than getting the variant with the hot plate which gradually burns the coffee and consumes electricity for no good reason.
Lastly, after using it day in day out for 8 months, I’ve only had to descale it once last week!

Great coffee machine
This is by far the best coffee machine to use . Keeps coffee hot and you can place the jug onto table without worrying it will stain or burn top .
highly recommended
Keeps coffee hot for a long time
Have recently converted back to filter from nespresso pods. Love this machine timer is easy to use, jug keeps the coffee hot for hours. The only problem I have had is finding which filter coffee I like, but that’s nothing to do with the machine, just personal preference. Comes with a few filter papers so you can get started, but took advice from a previous reviewer and ordered some on prime at the same time as they were a lot cheaper than the high street.
Lovely hot coffee!
Easy to use! You do not need to use the timer. Filters after coffee can go straight into recycle food bin. Happy with this machine! Thermal flask is better for me than glass one as I am less likely to break it. The coffee seems hotter too
Brilliant!
There are hundreds of fancy machines on the market, with capsules, pods and the like – however, if you just like a good cup of coffee I’d really recommend this. I’ll be honest, I’d not heard of the Melitta brand for years, having not bought coffee filters and I remember my Mum having a Melitta machine when I was a kid – nearly 40 years ago. However, I wanted a straightforward machine, with a timer and preferably one without those useless ‘hot plates’ that are supposed to keep them warm. So I narrowed the search to those with thermal jugs. This machine was one of them.
After procrastinating for ages on all the brands available, some incredibly cheap! I decided that it was ridiculous to spend so much time on something that was less than 100 and made a decision, largely based on the fact that Melitta has been around for years, and the pretty much specialise in all things ‘coffee’. The machine arrive promptly and was a doddle to unbox and set up. It looks neat, well made and feels solid.
In terms of coffee making (obviously) it’s great, easy, makes great coffee, it’s quick and quiet. The biggest plus to this machine has to be the thermal jug – not only does it feel solid unlike those standard, flimsy and fragile jugs, but it keep coffee, hot, not just warm, hot, for hours on end!! And not hot but ‘stewed’ – it’s as fresh 6 hours later as when it went in, meaning little wasted coffee. Typical filter machines keep the glass jug ‘warm’ for 45 mins or so, meaning you either have to drink it all then or throw it out.
To close, if you want a filter machine – buy this one!

This is my second Melitta Look IV Therm. I’ve owned a white one and now this black one – there were differences which I will explain below.
PROS
1) Timer function is great – you fill the machine and set the timer for when you want it
2) Therm kettle is brilliant. I’m confused by those who say it doesn’t keep their coffee warm as I’ve not had a problem. It’ll keep it hot and drinkable for a good 2 to 3 hrs. The other benefit is that as it’s insulated you can fill the kettle and then take it with you to the lounge/outside/wherever, so you don’t need to keep popping back to the kitchen and the hot plate. The other great thing is the pouring/lid mechanism which means there is less likely to be any spills and also means you don’t have to worry too much having it knocked of a coffee table (though obviously it still is HOT coffee so use common sense!)
3) The strength selector. This does seem to make the coffee weaker or stronger depending upon it’s position however I leave it at the max as don’t see the point of weak coffee but that’s just me!
CONS
1) Having owned both the Black and White versions of this machine I surprisingly did find there was a difference. The White version kettle didn’t have the “no spill grooves” on the kettle spout whereas the black version does (see the photos). What that means is that I found the white version wasn’t as accurate with it’s pouring and would often spill the coffee as it poured.
2) My first machine failed as I got debris in the water reservoir which then found it’s way into the heating system and caused the ball valve to get blocked which meant that it took ages for the machine to make coffee as the water couldn’t flow to the heating element. Lesson learned and I now use a separate water jug to fill instead of the Therm kettle and ensure I never leave the reservoir flap up when adding coffee
3) Cleaning the kettle is a bit of a pain. Only the kettle lid and coffee filter holder are dishwasher safe. The kettle isn’t and after multiple uses you will find the lovely stainless steel inside becoming coffee stained. My tip is that when you feel it needs a thorough deep clean, fill with water and drop a dishwasher tablet inside, put the kettle lid on and give it a good shake. Now leave overnight. In the morning empty the contents and rinse thoroughly with fresh water. It should now be back to it’s shiny as new appearance.
Overall a great machine in both looks and functions. Get the Black version though for the better pouring action.
Coffee stays hot.
This machine is easy to set up. Instructions are simple to follow and the coffee tastes great. The pot is a thermos pot. This means there is no hot plate that automatically turns off. I was amazed that how long the pot kept the coffee hot. After 5 hours it was still steaming in the mug once poured. Amazing. A purchase I will not regret.
Excellent produc
Absolutely love this coffee maker, no leaks, keeps coffee warm for ages, at least a couple hours. High quality and looks good, does exactly what it should.
Great, great, great!
I really love this coffee machine. After having a grind and brew by Cuisinart, I was a little worried this wouldn’t be able to compete. However, I got it at a great price and not oly does it make great tasting coffee (I drink mine black), it’s simple to use and clean.
An excellent piece of equipment.
An excellent piece of equipment. Previous had a filter coffee maker that used a glass jug and incorporated a hot-plate. This is far more efficient. It uses electricity for about 15 minutes and then keeps the coffee hot for a number of hours due to the insulated jug. Additionally, once the coffee has been made the jug can be removed a placed in any convenient location.
Arrived on the Saturday, easy to set up, rinse items under cold water before first use. I Set the timer for 07:30 on Sunday morning, I filled the reservoir just above 4 mugs (which is really 2 full mugs). I placed 2 scoops (coffee spoon/clip) of Tim Hortons coffee in the melitta1:4 filter for medium strength. I wanted to witness the timer, so at 07:28 I was waiting eagerly! Sure enough, 07:30, the timer clicked on and for the next 5 mins you could here the machine working away (a dull kettle sound, fairly quiet) and the faint aroma of fresh coffee! The machine stopped, I pulled the jug out, no drips and poured a large mug full, again no drips and a steaming HOT mug of coffee which tasted perfect. I poured another mug at 08:30 and it was still steaming HOT. Coffee all gone. Very easy to clean down, rinse the pot out, emptied the filter and wiped down, no mess anyway. Highly recommend, love it.
