Melitta Filter Coffee Machine with Insulated Jug, Timer Feature, Aroma Selector, Look Therm Timer Model, Black/Brushed Steel, 1011-16

Aroma Selector

With Melitta’s patented flavour selector, you can adjust the intensity of your coffee at the touch of a button: for a mild or strong coffee. You can, for example, enjoy a pick-me-up coffee at breakfast, and a gentle feel-good coffee after lunch. The Aroma Selector function ensures you constantly get the best taste, in a practical way without having to change the amount of water or coffee.

Practical timer feature

The timer feature with LED display gives you seductive coffee enjoyment when you want it. Programme a time for your coffee machine to start brewing and allow yourself (for example) to be woken up with the smell of fresh coffee. The appliance switches on automatically at the time you set.

Unbreakable insulated pot can be used with one hand

The Look Therm Timer comes with an insulated pot made of double-walled, stainless steel and is unbreakable and shockproof. Thanks to the brew-through lid, the coffee flows into the insulated jug ready to serve. It can be used with one hand, which makes it really easy to pour your coffee.

3-in-1 limescale protection

Only with regular descaling can you ensure that your coffee machine works perfectly. So the Melitta Look Deluxe gives you 3-in-1 limescale protection with programmable water hardness level, a calcification display and a convenient descaling programme.

Excellent machine, simple to use, easy to clean extremely satisfied with the machine.
I read a few reviews saying the flavour of the coffee wasn’t great as the machine made “weak” coffee but I find this isn’t the case.. but good coffee and you’ll be fine .. the thermos jug keeps the coffee hot for a good 10 hrs and that’s with my family using it throughout the day.. an excellent choice for a good filter coffee machine .

Simply makes great tasting filter coffee, which never gets over-cooked because there is no hotplate. Rather, a vacuum jug which performs well. Slight niggle is the timer button is a bit to set, but once done, timer works perfectly. Would recommend.

I’ve owned this a couple of weeks now and it’s amazing! I literally couldn’t be happier with how useful and versatile this machine is!

    This ticks the boxes on:

    1) Can pour a cuppa whilst the machine is brewing – yes! And zero drips!
    2) Keeps drinks warm for 2+hrs – yes! The thermos is amazing and still steaming after 4hrs, or warm after 7hrs if you rinse hot water round the thermos before using!!!
    3) Glass is unbreakable – yes! The thermos is double-walled stainless steel so no scary glass explosions from overheating / too much pressure.
    4) Has a set once timer – Yes! Set the start brewing timer once and each time u turn the timer on it’ll start at that time (unless you change it or unplug the machine.)
    5) Adjustable calc warning – The calc warning can be manually adjusted and set for the hardness of your water.
    6) Can brew flower, herbal and loose leaf black/white teas – Yes! On the strong aroma setting the water showers through slowly into the filter giving the tea 10mins of a near-boiling soaking. Tastes as strong as steeped tea, but keeps it steaming and never stews. Yum yum!
    7) Can evenly cover the filter contents – Yes! The filter has a shower head roof, like an overhead shower, not one of the rod sprayers found in most other machines. It very evenly douses your coffee, tea, herbs, flowers etc.

    Semi ticks the boxes:

    1) Can easily be cleaned – Kind of. The jug lid, jug and filter holder will go in the washing machine, but the water tank cannot be removed for easy cleaning because it is fixed and wrapped around the outside of the unit, I imagine, it’s not going to be much fun to wash out at calc time. Also, the jug, as with most thermos type containers, has a difficult to clean area at the top inside the unit.

    Design Flaw:

    1) Position of the flow opener on jug – where this is means when one is pouring it’s very easy to get scalded by the steam, so beware!
    2) Cable tidy – has a small area of push in cable tidy under the base. But the cable comes out to the right side so if reducing the length it has to then come out to the left side and be externally looped to the right. Also, the amount of space for looping the cable only half reduces its length.
    3) Reusable filter – there are dips into the filter area to allow a finger to easily remove the filter holder. This dip will not allow a generic handled reuseable filter to fit it. There is a review which says the mesh only filters, which look like a steel mesh pocket, fit well. I haven’t got one of these and have lots of paper filters to work my way through before trying.
    4) Resetting the timer – when adjusting it takes two hands and a bit of dexterity: one to hold the unit, one to press and hold the timer button whilst also adjusting the time buttons.

    Coffee:

I like my coffee quite strong and thick. I found on the strong aroma setting the coffee was quite burnt and thus bitter. Adjusting this to medium brewed a lovely flask of coffee. Yum!

    Tea:

This machine makes tea making so simple: pour the filtered water in, fold and insert the unbleached filter paper, sprinkle your finer herbs/flowers into the filter followed by your others, press the on button, 12mins later pour. No faffing with kettles, teapots, strainers, or tea cosies. AND, with the timer, waking up to homemade brews is simply heavenly <3

Reading the reviews helped me make a decion to buy this product, and I am really glad a did. Really good piece of equipment. Very solid and looks good too. I tested how long it would stay warm for 2 hrs and 10 mind and water was still hot. So easy to use the timer too, very pleased with this and would highly recommend this to anyone.

    Quality product.

Bought this to replace similar machine. Was greatly surprised by how hot the coffee is after brewing! By far the hottest filter coffee I’ve experienced from these machines! Timer is a breeze to set up and use and the insulated jug keeps coffee hot for six hours!
    Will certainly recommend.

Love the look of this coffee maker as it matches my kettle. Like the fact the jug is not glass and is more like a thermos flask. Really like the timer option so
Coffee is ready when you go downstairs in the morning. Would recommend.

Looks good and does the job

Really smart filter coffee machine, that also makes a really good cup of coffee!
No pods, so no waste. Machine is only in use whilst brewing the coffee, then keeps warm for a few hours in the insulated jug, so better for the electric bill.
Jug doesn’t spill when pouring, like previous models we’ve had. Stainless steel jug also means it can’t be shattered as has happened in the past.
Swing out coffee granule bin, so not risk of coffee ending up in the water reservoir.
Water can be poured in from both sides of the machine, in a decent side space, so again, not spillages like previous makes of machine.

I usually don’t take the time to write a review but I kind of felt obligated to write this one since there’s quite a bit of fake information of this product.
So on a beautiful Saturday morning my old coffee machine (Russell Hobbs Buckingham) broke after 18 months of daily use so I started looking for another one quickly since coffee is very much needed on a daily basis 🙂 I was a bit skeptic to order this once since I read a review here saying that the flavor is not so good and bla bla bla and that guy bought a Russell Hobbs Buckingham, the one that I had before, and tadaaa problem solved. Anyway, since you can always return an unwanted product I ordered it anyway since this coffee machine has 1 thing that makes it a winner imo, the thermal jar.
Now after testing it I can tell for sure that this one is far superior to the one that I had before.
    1. Flavor is fantastic. Using the same amount of water(measured with the old coffee machine jar) and coffee the favor is far superior, next day I had to cut the amount of coffee by 1 spoon to make it drinkable since the first day was a bit too strong.
    2. Thermal jar makes the best of it. I wake up every morning at 4 and my wife at 6.30, this time difference is an inconvenience since every morning she needs to reheat the coffee and we all know that reheated coffee doesn’t really taste the same as the fresh one. Tested 2 mornings in a row, when she woke up the coffee is still hot. So win again.
There are other nice features to mention, ofc, but these 2 for me makes the perfect coffee machine. So if you can afford the amazing 15 extra pounds … go for it 🙂

Fantastic, for normal strength “3” coffee set the strength to midway on lid. It’s ready for you in morning using the timer and I have found the coffee stays very warm for at least 5 hours

Esspresso machines have never appealed to me for home use. After over 10 years of using a french press, a friend was spouting the virtues of his new, 250 drip coffee machine – namely consistency and ease of cleaning. After a bit of research I was sold on the idea of getting a drip machine, but couldn’t bring myself to shell out that much. This Melitta was on sale for 50 so I thought I would give it a shot.

Very happy with the results, after messing around with water/coffee rations and grind-size I am now getting consistent coffee every morning.

I like the fact the thermal jug keeps the coffee warm (hot!) for 2hrs+, so one brew will do 2 cups of coffee each, for my wife and I. I also like that i’s a breeze to clean, the filer and coffee can be lifted out and go straight into the compost bin – much easier than cleaning out a french press.

On the down-side, I’ve found that the taste of the coffee is not as good as “the better” french press brews, however it’s a damn sight better than the ones that were inexplicably weak (or left to brew too long and cold!) – consistency and convenience really are the key words here.

Finally, this machine is paired with a Kitchen Aid Burr Grinder. I use 60g of coffee to “8 large cups” of water (it yields 4 cups, and I consider my mugs to be of average size :). I fill up the reservoir using filtered water to avoid scale issues and have the intensity dial set on “full”. At first I found the coffee to be quite bitter, however making the grind coarser quickly solved this.

Great cup of coffee , you can adjust the drip and intensity so you may need to tinker to your taste. Most important though the stainless steel flask keeps coffee hot for ages – brewed a pot at 8:30am and it was still drinkably hot at lunchtime , even at 4pm when i emptied the pot to clean it was still warm and drinkable. No hot plate so coffee isn’t stewed and re-heated

I use this coffe machine in my desk. During these COVID times, having a big jug of coffee (that keeps warm for over 3 hours) this has been my fuel. As my home-office is also my room, setting it 5 minutes before the alarm sounds, allows me to just get up and pour a nice mug of coffee -and waking up to the smell of fresh coffe is unbeatable.
The only thing that could improve is the strenght. I bought the intense filters and set it in the full intensity, but I think I need a little extra -but that’s a personal opinion.
Really good machine, absolutely recommended for everyone.

This is a very good product. Coffee makers with hot plates can only stay warm for 40 minutes. This one has no hot plate, just a very well insulated jug. It keeps the coffee hot for at least two hours. I like plenty of strong coffee, ready for me when I wake up. The timer function works very well, and the coffee tastes great. No plastic taste, and a good strength. I use a permanent filter in it which works well but you can use paper ones if you wish. Looks smart too.

My parents have the black version, it’s fantastic, so naturally I bought one too, got the white one, and the spout difference as mentioned in another review with photos has been resolved.

Otherwise, the product is fantastic, and uses size 4 filters. Comes with a few in the box too in case you forget to buy some.

White version now has same spout as black versio

Looking to replace our 10+ year old coffee machine, only to realise there’s no longer a hotplate that keeps your coffee warm for longer than 30 minutes. However this is an amazing alternative. Gone are the days when we have to pop downstairs to fill up our cup for our next coffee. We just take the thermal coffee pot and a milk jug and enjoy a relaxing morning in bed. The coffee stays piping hot for at least 2 hours. The taste is perfect and the timer is set every weekend. Couldn’t live without it. Great when guests are round too. Can’t fault it. Make this your next purchase.

This machine makes nice coffee and looks very smart. The best feature is the insulated jug. This is much better the hot plate and glass jug on my previous coffee maker. That made the coffee stew after about 30 minutes. This jug it tastes fresh and stays hot for a good hour.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersUsually would of used instant coffee in the past, but I decided to take the plunge and buy this machine as I wanted a jug that would hold fresh hot coffee, for a very long while. I decided to buy this as the reviews was constantly over 5* and right so! The Machine is very easy to set up and follow, even for a first-timer in the coffee machine world like me, three standard buttons: power, timer and limescale cleaner, two additional buttons for the display which allows you to set the time, water hardness and timer- (which doesn’t need to be set, as you can just power it when you feel like it). The Jug is VERY sturdy, and a nice little latch control allows you to pour controlled coffee at a steady pace, the insulation is great- no hot plate needed, I set a full brew off at 10AM and by 8PM it was still very hot to drink from! Very pleased with this, it DOES come with 4 filters, but I bought additional as I will be using it a lot more, also comes with no measuring cup, which isn’t a bad thing as most ground coffee bags tell you the rough guide by teaspoon. My only gripe was understanding the water hardness scale, as the machines instructions are measured in dH, so I had to look up my local water supplier in the UK; find the calcium measurement by mg/l and then convert that from English Clark Degrees to dH so I could find it’s optimal water level when filling from the tap.

Surprisingly good for a first-timer Coffee Machine! Water Hardness was tedious.

We absolutely love this coffee machine. I didn’t realise that it didn’t have a heated plate, but actually the insulated thermos-style pot keeps the coffee hot for a good few hours without it getting that burnt taste (as happens with my mum’s hot plate style machine).
The timer function works perfectly which is great for my partner who sometimes gets up at 4am for work.
Less faff than a caffetiere. We use the melitta filter papers which make it super easy to get rid of the grounds.
    Best buy of 2020!

I have been drinking coffee from a peculator for many decades. This one is the best i have ever had. So many have hot plates that stew the coffee, so that the first cup is great and the rest become bitter the longer they stay on the hot plate. NOT THIS MACHINE. It does not have a hot plate! The coffee pot is built like a thermos flask with two layers, so that the coffee stays hot, like in a thermos flask, for a couple of hours WITHOUT stewing the coffee. To have the great flavour of the coffee from all the coffee in the pot, as hot as the first cup is fantastic. I cannot recommend this coffee machine highly enough, and with NEVER go back to lesser models.

This is more expensive than a lot of machines, but having had one of the cheaper ones previously, this one is definitely superior.
It looks stylish and makes a lot of coffee, which stays warm due to the thermos-style coffee pot. Our old machine was terrible for leaking when pouring but this one is perfect. No leaks and pours well. I’m really happy with it as it has both good looks and functionality.

Absolutely great. I had a Ninja coffee bar but there were so many issues with it i.e. clean light on two or 3 times a week despite being cleaned many times. Company told us light was faulty but as it was out of warranty they could do nothing. The coffee in the Ninja was good but the price is around 150 so after some research we settled on this little beauty. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised at the quality of the Melitta. It is sturdy and makes wonderful coffee. I dont like weak coffee and this really ticks all the boxes. It does not drip as my more expensive Ninja did and the flavour is superb. So got a perfect machine thst makes great coffee for 100 less than the Ninja. Total win -win situation and we couldn’t be more pleased.

I ordered this coffee machine while in lockdown and working from home, I must say I was so excited when it arrived. Easy to set up and use. The timer feature is just the best, waking up to the smell of fresh coffee is certainly something to get out of bed for! The thermos jug is much better than a glass one too. This is a great little coffee maker. We’ve had it a few months and set the timer every evening for fresh coffee when we wake up. The thermos flask is great for keeping the coffee hot and doesn’t burn it like heated pots. A full pot makes about 4 and a half mugs for us.

Love love love this coffee machine, so glad I bought it…

I bought this because of the timer function, hubby can have his coffee at 5 when he is going to work and i have mine at 6.

if you are buying this machine the only cons I could find are:

The maximum amount of water you can put into this machine says 10 cups BUT that is not for a standard 250ml uk mug size. We fill the water up onto this setting and get about 5 mugs of coffee out of it which is OK for our household in the morning on our way off to work and of course you don’t have to have that much coffee of you dont want to.

I am happy to have the paper filters (Non bleached of course! ) as we don’t have a garden compost so its really easy to discard in our council recycling bin too. but some prefer re usablenplastic filters (not me I find them a real pain!

and just to be really really picky…. the bit that you pour the water into is slim, it is curved to fit the machine. Its really easy, i don’t find it a problem but others may do.

A MASSIVE bonus of course is the pot, not just because of keeping the coffee hot, IT REALLY DOES and for over 2 hours! but its NOT GLASS! yey!
On my days off work I take the pot full of coffee into the garden and drink it at my leisure. BLISS!
I’m converted, i will never buy a coffee machine with a glass coffee pot ever again!

Quick at making coffee, and the insulated jug keeps the coffee hot for a good hour without using any electricity. The decals reminder is helpful too, though it’s purely elapsed time-based.

This machine looks great and makes great coffee. Not tried the timer yet. Not had to clean it yet. The flask jug keeps the coffee nice and hot for a couple of hours and I even heat it up first with boiling water to keep it hot for longer, as I do a flask. Very simple to use. We bought a melitta coffee scoop and for a full jug 5 to 6 level scoops makes perfect coffee. It gives off a good aroma when making the coffee and is pretty quiet. The only downside is you can’t see how much coffee is in the jug and when you pick it up, as it is heavyish as it is insulted you can pour out a small amount. Never mind though as it is easy to make more! The heavy jug does give a real feel of quality and looks great too. Highly recommended coffee machine.

I have to say, it’s brilliant, the coffee pot is akin to industrial grade and will keep the coffee scalding hot even after an hour since brew.
I absolutely love it – setting the timer and wake up to the smell of coffee

I bought this for our morning coffee; one cup in bed, and another with breakfast. With our old machine, the second cup had to be microwaved hot; this bad boy does away with that, as the second cup is piping hot!
The stainless steel thermos jug keeps it very hot for at least an hour. It may well do so for longer, but I haven’t tried yet. As the power turns off after 15 minutes, the coffee doesn’t stew, and retains full flavour. Very stylish design, well priced item; very very happy with purchase!

I used to have a coffee maker a few years back with a hotplate and had hot coffee all day long, after it broke I used a caffetierre for the last couple of years, finally decided to get a new machine and found out hotplates are no longer a thing, after looking at a few I plumped for this one because reviewers said it kept coffee warm for at least the 2 hours it said it did. This is wrong, I make a pot at 9am on a timer, finish the same pot at 4pm in the afternoon with the last hot cup, I was happily amazed it stayed hot this long.
Hot, all day long, flavourful, and variable strength, coffee, exactly what I wanted.

It makes great coffee, but the thermal jug is the best feature. The coffee stays hot (and I mean HOT) for at least an hour. I’ve never tested it beyond that time frame, but I suspect it would stay hot for a lot longer. The only minor drawback is that the filter is designed for paper filters and won’t fit a standard basket filter (the company that makes this machine are famous for selling the filter papers – basket filters are their sworn enemy, evidently). However, if you’re not a paper filter fan, all is not lost. For under 10 you can grab a stainless steel mesh coffee filter (size 4). I got the AIEVE one and it fits perfectly. Happy slurping!

What with us all at home all the time, we took the plunge and bought a coffee maker. Having shopped around I knew I wanted one with a thermal jug as EU regulations for electricity saving mean hot plates have to turn off automatically after 40 mins, and that means the coffee would go cold fairly quickly. But that meant the options were limited, and more expensive than those with glass jugs. We also wanted a timer, although we haven’t used this function yet.
There were two machines that met our criteria that were cheaper and initially we tried one that was 10 cheaper. The coffee was fine but the jug leaked everywhere due to bad design and the steam went into the digital display. Returned it and went for this one.
It is really very, very good. If you live in a hard water area you’ll like the anti scale features. If you like to adjust the strength of your coffee you’ll like the strength feature (and you can buy different kinds of melitta filters that will also adjust the strength of your brew). It was sometimes almost too strong (and I like strong coffee!) so I was able to use a little less coffee – kerching! Ha ha.
It is very easy to fill, easy to remove the used filter and having made the coffee at 10am I just had a perfectly warm cup at 5pm, so rest assured the thermal jug works very well.
Since I like a bargain, I have been trying various coffees: Lidl are much better than Aldi for pre-ground coffees. The Lidl Large pack of Columbia’s is very nice for everyday, and the Guatemalan special one is absolutely lovely.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe got this model to replace a coffee machine when the carafe on the previous one broke and it would take 2-3 weeks to get a proper replacement.

Positives – the coffee flavour is the same as our previous model and we’re happy with that. We haven’t really noticed a difference using the different strength dial, but then we’re not coffee experts, so it might just be us. The timer function on this machine is actually easier to use – it’s clearer when the timer is set as the timer button lights up. The carafe on this model is insulated like a thermos – so we set the machine to come on at 6:15, It’ll be ‘as brewed’ when we get to it between 6:45 and 7:15, and the coffee is still hot at 10am when I’m going for the final top up.

The major bonus is power consumption – It does this using very little power in comparison to the old model which had a keep warm function. In order to keep the other pot warm – the old machine had to consume 1500w for the entire time to run a warm plate underneath. So if you wanted an hour of hot coffee – it took 1.5kwh to make it do that. And for us – given we drink our coffee spread over the morning – that’s a lot of power used. This machine will run at around the same usage – but only for the time it takes to make the coffee (so 10-15 minutes at most) – then it can switch off.

The one negative is that the ‘drip stop’ function doesn’t seem to work as well. The one time I’ve removed the pot while brewing – I had to clean up a mess. So I’ve resolved not to do that again. AND while the old machine might have dripped too – the keep warm plate underneath would have evaporated the drips quickly, which this machine won’t do due to using the thermos style jug.

Given that is the only negative so far – I’d happily re-purchase this again as and when this gives up the ghost.

Love love love the insulated jug! Had a normal Malita timer coffee machine and was always frustrated because the coffee would cool so quickly. Not any more! The coffee is still hot 4-5 hours after it has turned off. Excellent!

    Good quality coffee machine.

Makes my coffee for me in the morning so it’s ready by the time I get out of bed.

Great entry bit of kit for those like me who look to become more interested in making good coffee at home.

Very pleased with this coffee machine. Just to contrast with a few reviews which put me off from buying this at first:
    1. I havr no issue with spilling coffee when pouring, however there is a small amount of coffee which cannot be poured out without tipping the fkask upside down which inevitably spills.
    2. I read this coffee machine is just a single drip nozzle which isn’t the case, it has an intensity dial to select between single and multi drip.
Great purchase and looks smart too.

A rare review from me, but you need to know that if you want your place to smell of brewing coffee, this is not the machine for you.

The vacuum flask keeps the coffee hot for hours without a hot plate, making it ecofriendly. But the flask is sealed, with a valve allowing coffee to drip through. This means hardly any coffee aroma comes from the machine.

That said, the coffee it makes is great. I found Lavazza 5 is the best. Coarser ground coffees did not work well.

I do love it. But I wanted my place to fill with the smell of brewing coffee.

Feeling of good quality and having a metal jug instead of glass is positive for no worry about breakage. Coffee tastes good and keeps warm for a reasonable time as the jug is double skinned. (No hot plate.) A full jug is produced in about 10 minutes. The timer setting procedure is a bit fiddly and could be improved.

Very easy to use. This is my first time owning a filtered coffee maker and I have to say I’m converted! The timer function is great and waking up to the smell of freshly brewed coffee is just heavenly. The insulated jug is great and easily keeps the coffee hot for up to 3 hours, after 3 hours it’s still tepid. Very pleased with this coffee maker, would definitely recommend.

Works a treat and produces nice coffee.
Insulated jug keeps coffee warm for ages and the bottom of the jug stays cool so you can put straight onto the table.
Fast brew time – which is nice.
The one problem? — the Clock / Timer has not got a battery backup. That means that every time you unplug the machine the clock / timer is reset to 00.00 which makes it useless as you have to reset it every time you use the machine.
This doesn’t happen if you keep the machine plugged in but, never the less, it is, in my opinion, an avoidable fault in the design.

One of the best products I’ve ever got. Haven’t rated the timer because I’m just manual – brew when I’m ready!
Once you work out your favourite blend & strength it’s top notch. Aroma set to just off max, Taylors After Dark (other coffees are available) 7 spoon measures to 8 large cup measure…perfect brew!

I was after a coffee machine as I dip my toes in to the world of coffee beans, roasting and filtering.
This is made by a quality brand and I say done extremely well.
There’s no getting away from this being a Melitta entry level model.
And my calling it a coffee machine is possibly an exaggeration.
Bulk of the cost has clearly gone in design and the metal flask,as its wholly made of plastic and is very lightweight.

In a nutshell it is either timed to come on or instantly filter coffee, which will suit many for its ease of use.
Timer function only has one option, input a time and it simply turns on at that time and stays on until all the water has left the reservoir in to the flask.
So with that in mind you have to fill the reservoir to the amount of cups you desire.
Its not a case of you fill the reservoir to the top and select an option to deliver your desired amount of cups.
So you have to make sure the amount off water in the reservoir matches the cups desired and coffee added.
Timer is accurate, filtering is quick, you get a little coffee aroma and flask will keep you ticking over with coffee for a couple of hours which is nice.
The strength slider simply increases or decreases water flow pressure so find that a bit gimmicky. I simply keep it about full as I don’t want to lose flavour and waste expensive coffee. And to be fair it appears it needs to be on full to get a decent strength without using excessive amounts of coffee.
To clean I simply swill the flask and filter holder straight after use ready to go again.
If you want an all singing and dancing expresso/frothy coffee machine then this isn’t for you.
If you want to wake up to a simple, nicely filtered flask of black coffee ready to pour that looks decent on your worktop then it is.

I love this machine. I have had Nespresso, Tassimo, and other filter machines and this one is the best. The stainless jug keeps my coffee warm for over 3 hours and the timer function is great for walking up to a nicely brewed coffee in the morning. It’s a great machine, cannot recommend highly enough.

Absolutely love this coffee machine. Coffee comes out lovely and smooth no sludge in bottom of cup like the previous machine. Coffee stays hot in the thermos jug without changing the taste of the coffee. Since the start of lockdown hubby working from home and using coffee machine alot more, this one will be alot more cost effective as we dont throw the cold coffee away, just wish id bought it sooner. Had the ninja coffee bar before this which was almost twice the price and I would not recommend at all, but the Mellita is a great machine for a great price too.

I never heard of this brand before but this is a nice piece of kit.

    Pros:

    – Makes around 5 full regular size mugs of coffee.
    – Brews and percolates fast, around eight mins at the most.
    – Not too loud.
    – Thermos jug keeps the coffee drinkably hot for at least 4 hours.
    – Comes with 6 filter papers to get you started.

    Cons:

    – Doesn’t come with a permanent filter, but you can buy a size 4 mesh filter cheaply and they work fine.
    – You can’t remove the base if you need to deep clean it because, erm, you spilled coffee all over it when you forgot to put the filter holder back in it before brewing….

So yeah, just remember to always put it back together properly after cleaning 😀
    Heartily recommended.

This is my third coffee pot this year. The light of my life and all round good guy, my hubby, is also a clumsy oaf. He’s managed to bounce two glass jugs round the kitchen. It goes against my nature to throw things away so try as I might to get replacement jugs I’ve ended up getting a new device.
This coffee pot comes with two excellent features in one. The metal jug! It not only claims to be indestructible but it keeps the coffee hot. It really does keep it hot too.
It means there is no keep warm feature, because it is not required. So, robust and a more eco friendly.
I am genuinely delighted with this product.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Users…Braw!!!…Lovely cup of coffee from a cracking coffee machine. My last Tesco’s-cheap-as-chips coffee machine gave up the ghost on Sunday morning …so I bought this beauty, it makes a braw cuppa Java and the thermal jug keeps the freshly brewed coffee hot for at least an’ hour after making it. I haven’t tried the timer system yet, but if the initial results are anything to go by I’m sure I won’t be disappointed!

Combined with the reusable filter we bought, this machine produces a lovely cup of coffee, quickly! The filter that is offered by Amazon is not the best fit but it works.

The feature we really like is the thermos jug. 2 hours after making a jug of coffee it is still warm and it is not bitter from sitting on the hotplate. leave the intensity knob at full, great flavour. We use Aldi French coffee and have used Tesco and Asda. The intensity knob seems to be the key to a lovely cup.

I wanted a coffee maker that could make at least 10 cup volume, but also keep the coffee hot for a while. This one fitted the bill, and at the offer price of 50 I was willing to have a punt. Its great! Easy to fill both for water and coffee. I use just normal paper filters that I had in anyway and they are fine. I could squeeze in my universal plastic cone but it was a squeeze as the holder isn’t quite round all the way round. But it would probably work ok. The coffee tastes great, it looked pretty pale when I poured it out but was actually full of flavour. The vacuum jug keeps it hot for hours, and it tastes just as good at the end as the start as it hasn’t been left stewing on a hot plate. Ive made coffee in the morning, and 6 hours later the leftovers are still warm enough to drink (although not piping hot). Would recommend to anyone looking for a simple coffee maker.

    Pros:
    * Sturdy build and feels premium. Parts feel quality.
    * Timer and clock really easy to set. Light is subtle.
    * The thermal jug – this thing stays warm for hours!
Makes a good coffee. Taken a day or so for the taste to really come out.
    * Easy to keep clean. Easy to fill.

    Cons:
    * Water drip system isn’t as good as shower head models. Grounds end up with a hole in the middle. Takes a lot of coffee for best brew.
*Doesn’t make the hottest coffee, so if you like it milky this probably isn’t the machine for you.
    * As with all other filter machines- the non-drip system drips!
    * Steel attracts fingerprints.
    * Should come with a permanent filter.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI must admit I don’t normally bother writing reviews and Im no coffee expert. I chose this one because I was used to just going to the office coffee jug and pouring a cup all day long. With the stupid EU rules hot plates can no longer stay on all day keeping the coffee warm so they all shut off after 30-40 mins 🙁 no good if I make a full pot. So I found this one.
I didn’t really believe the people saying the insulated jug stayed hot for hours but thought it was worth a try. Well, I made a pot last night at 6pm and it was hot all evening. I came to throw the remaining coffee out at 1pm today and was amazed to find that it was still warm! ok, not “hot” but warm enough to drink in a pinch. Unbelievable really!

This is just brilliant. I’ve had pod style machines before but with now working from home decided I’d like something that made a few coffees in one go. The timer is easy to use and I set it up each night so that I get up to a pot of coffee. The jug is very good, keeps coffee warm for several hours. And it makes really good coffee. I did a bit of research before I bought and worked out Melitta was the one I wanted and this is a really good value model.

This baby is amazing. We have had the sturdy DeLonghi for years and it served us well until the hot plate started to fail. My husband had his eye on the Cusinart but having read the reviews, particularly with the grinder function that tends to break, wanted something that was reliable and well built all round. This has not disappointed. It’s amazing. We are only on day three so I can’t speak to reliability. Coffee is always hot and fresh. Taste is great. Well designed and thought out. Makes a nice sound when it makes the coffee. And the timer function means hot fresh coffee when you stumble out of bed. My husband —who runs on coffee—said it was “life changing”. We take our coffee to go out of the house in travel mugs and are very happy with it.

    Yes, yes, yes!!!

I’m so thrilled with this coffee machine it pulls out so much flavour and the option to have so many different strengths is wonderful with that intensity adjuster and it works really well as for keeping the coffee warm it really keeps it hot all day, I come to my pot 6 hours later and I can still have a nice cup of coffee it keeps it hot for about 4 hours and it’s still warm 8 hours later, it’s got a handy clean function and the tray is completely removable so it’s so much easier to rinse and keep clean and the timer is great just remember to set it up the night before and your coffee is ready for you when you wake up in the morning but don’t worry if you forget it only takes about 10 minutes to brew an entire pot I put 3 scoops in mine as I like strong coffee and it pulls all the flavour out without burning the coffee, there is no plastic or metallic chemical taste with this coffee machine like you you can get with so many others, I’m extremely happy with my purchase as I’m quite fussy when it comes to coffee and I have Fallen in love with how much flavour this machine gives without destroying or changing the coffee flavou

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have had a number of coffee machines over the years but this is without doubt my favourite. The proof of this is that I use it most days whereas others have sat gathering dust after initial use. I love this because it is simple, it keeps my coffee hot without it stewing on a hot plate and very importantly it is very easy and quick to clean. Spent ages researching, almost bought a coffee maker with an integrated grinder, but so glad I didn’t! This device works perfectly:

    * If you’re setting it up the night before, there’s no point grinding the beans yourself. Just get the cafe to do it when you buy them!
    * The bottom of the dripper & the top of the carafe have valves that open when you’re setting it up to make coffee. By pulling the carafe out the valves close, so there’s no drips, and your coffee stays airtight.
    * The coffee stays hot a LONG time. I’ve been making one batch at 7am and drinking a cup after lunch, it tastes fine.
    * The coffee stays fresh too, since the carafe is really well-sealed.
    * The intensity setting changes how much water is delivered in the centre of the basket vs the surroundings. I set mine to 80% and it works v well.
    * The “number of cups” is nonsense. It works out to 2 “large cups” on the water adder for each good-sized mug of brew.
    * I recommend 54g coffee, fairly coarse grind, 6 “large cups” of water. Set it for 7am and you’re golden.

As good as my old moccamaster & grinder setup was, this is way more practical.

Works well so far. Cut out time of 15 mins is a bit of a bind but will get use to that. Thermos type jug is a real bonus since no heat is lost as was the case with a glass jug and coffee is hotter than the old Krupp’s machine. Once all the stickers are removed certainly looks the part.

Having been used to a hot plate on our old machine which kept the coffee warm for 40 mins before shutting off I was a little apprehensive about not having a hot plate on this model which uses an insulated jug but actually its better for the environment because it use less electric and the jug keeps the coffee hot for over 2 hours so in fact I prefer this method.

Love this coffee machine. It looks great and is very sleek and stylish.
The intensity feature is a massive bonus and allows me to have a strong intense coffee on a morning and then a milder coffee later in the day.
The timer function is fantastic and means I wake up and the coffee is ready within minutes, so brilliant from a time saving perspective.
The water level guide has two different numbers, one being for espresso measures and the other for full coffee. This is a massive plus in my eyes as so many machines only show the quantities for espresso cups!
The machine itself is slightly bigger than I had originally presumed it to be which did mean I had to do some re-arranging in the kitchen in order to fit it.
Also in the instructions it said the jug lid was machine safe which when I first read it I thought meant the jug and lid were machine safe. They aren’t! It hasn’t broke the jug or anything but it did retain excess water and take nearly two days to dry out properly. The instructions could do with being updated to specifically say that the jug is NOT washing machine safe!

After having several espresso machines costing upwards of 350 that are a pain to use i went back to a good old filter machine. This one is amazing. So easy to use makes a pot full of perfect temperature coffee in under 10 minutes and the thermo pot keeps it hot for a good couple of hours. So much cheaper to buy bags of ground coffee rather than the overpriced pods I’ve been buying for years. I’d forgotten how good filter coffee is. The machine also looks really modern and stylish on the counter top.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI originally bought this coffee maker a few years back. It started to develop a leak which meant each morning I was greeted with a puddle on the work surface after I’d filled the container overnight.
However, as I thought this made a good cup and it kept the coffee hot in the pot, I ordered the same one again as a replacement.
They have redesigned this since my original purchase. The fill indicators on the front are now in white, instead of black, as shown in the main image at the top of the page.
The bigger change, though, is in adding grooves to the spout of the pot – this improves the pouring so much. The earlier design certainly had a tendency to splash if you were not careful. The new design, however, means the liquid comes out in a controlled, steady stream. So much better.

So in summary – they have fixed the wayward spout in this new design – so there’s no reason not to make that purchase now!

    New and Improved

We’ve had this machine a couple of weeks now. It replaces a DeLonghi that had done well for several years. This however appears to be a much better filter coffee machine. The quality is great and it looks very good. The coffee it produces has very good flavour (we have the aroma setting quite high). The thermal jug keeps the coffee at a very good temperature for hours and the timer means that we can wake up with great tasting coffee first thing in the morning…. and it’s much quieter and much quicker than our previous machine. Probably a bit more expensive but definitely worth the money. We haven’t yet needed to descale so can’t comment on the accuracy of the descale ‘alert’ feature at this time. Would definitely recommend this Melitta machine.
