After years of suffering cold feet year in year out wearing cheap wellies and numerous amounts of so called thermal socks. I finally bit the bullet and forked out the extra money on some Muckmaster wellies. They were recommended to me by a fellow dog walker I bumped into over Cannock Chase. As the old saying goes “you only get what you pay for” and this could not be more true with these wellies. I paid 84.99 off Amazon and they are worth every penny. Like most wellies they seem to come up half a size larger than your normal shoes and this is exaggerated by the fact you only need to wear thin socks even on the coldest of days. The sole is so thick that you feel no sharp objects as you walk along, I walked 5 miles in them the other day and I swear they’re more comfy than my walking boots. My only regret is I didn’t buy some sooner, if you suffer from cold feet then I really recommend these superb wellies
Very comfortable, warm and waterproof. Have done some long muddy walks in these and they were comfortable from the start. These aren’t cheap boots but they are in my opinion the best and you get what you pay for.
Having wasted money on cheap wellies
Thought it time to invest
Bought these muck boots a two weeks ago
Have to say very impressed
PROS warm comfortable and secure footing
CONS I am a size 10 UK (44/45) they are bigger so need good quality thick socks and for some people they may seem a bit heavy.
So now to check out longevity
Will up date next year, but as of now seriously recommend.
I was a little concerned about the fit when I ordered them, as I’ve experienced wellies can vary in their sizing. These however are really good. They are comfortable and well made. I don’t think that I would go on a long walk as they are quite heavy as they are made with quality material, which adds to the weight. But for keeping you feet warm and dry they’re great, just what I wanted!
Initially, these boots feel a bit strange to walk in as they are quite upright but you quickly get used to them. They are warm and comfortable and my only hope is that they last a long time as I tend to wear them a lot in the yard and the garden and have found that other makes have split on the foot after 4-6 months.
Thank goodness I bought these before the really wintry weather kicked in. They are so comfortable to wear, very warm, feet are toasty and they really keep the wet out too. Buying another pair for my wife as she keeps nicking mine!
Muck Boots are amazing…so comfortable for wellingtons. I have a short pair and bought these for my daughter for Christmas, I’m sure she will find them the best wellies she’s ever had. Expensive but well worth the money.
Amazing boots:) i have only ever purchased std wellingtons in the past and now I know why i never really liked wearing them!
These Muckmaster Boots are amazingly warm and very comfortable. I purchased size 8 and wear thicker socks as the boots are quite roomy.
Very pleased with this purchase. I wear them at every opportunity.
I bought these for my husband who always complains his feet are cold in other wellies. He is delighted with them, no more cold feet and finds them very comfortable. It’s still early on to know how they will wear but they seem very strong.
COMFORT
So, I’ve just received this pair of Edgewater II’s. First impressions are very good. The first thing I noticed is that where both of my Derwent boots had a steel reinforced ankle area (or something like steel) which used to hurt until it was worn in (it was too high and rubbed) the material around the heel and Achilles tendon is flexible … time will tell if this is good or bad.
Overall the insole comfort is exceptional, soles are flexible and I wasn’t feeling the prods of rocks or stones through the sole. They are also light, very light in fact, and I felt Iike I could power walk in them. The upper part of the boot is not too loose and not too tight so shouldn’t have any problem getting trousers in there. Size wise they fit better than expected with my previous experience with MBCo
GRIP
I took them for a walk over the following surfaces and found the grip to be:
Wet Cobbles on the flat – quite slippy laterally (side to side)
Wet Cobbles covered in leaves on severe incline and Decline – to be honest they held up ok
Wet tarmac – quite slippy laterally
Wet Moss over Tarmac – OK
Grass – Excellent
Flat Mud – OK
Mud on a severe camber – OK, some slipping laterally but actually better than expected
One thing I have noticed is the grip is ok in the direction of travel but its the side to side grip that feels loose.
Also the sole cleans itself well! really well, got them muddy and a few minutes walking on grass and they were all cleaned up. Mud didnt seem to clog up which is a total bonus!
All that said these are a pair of wellies, not hiking boots or running shoes. You want a sole that performs on the surface it will be used for the purpose most people will need it these will most likely do. These are marketed by MBCo as “Edgewater II are the multi-purpose boots that will look after your feet in the garden, on your muddy dog walk or as you head into town on a rainy day”. I’d say they are better on soft terrain than hard.
WARMTH
Ok, 5mm Neoprene, insulated sole = a warm boot. Exceptional for Use around
I’m going to guess with what these are made of eg rubber and neoprene. These are insulated waterproof boots. Not a pair of crocs. They’re not for a summers day and I don’t care for it when manufacturers use the word breathable on boots, that lets face it, really wont end up being. I’ll be working them hard over the next two late autumn days and I can guarantee I’ll have sweaty feet by the end of it.
But when you need a warm boot to stop freezing toes – these tick the box
WATERPROOFING
Excellent. I jumped in a stream 1″ from the top of the boot with no leakage, right foot only though I wouldnt have been able to get out if I’d stuck the other one in!
LONGEVITY
Well this is the big question isnt it. I’d say I got 2 years each out of my last two pairs. According to my estimate earlier on I used my Derwent boots approx 120 times each. TBH that sounds pretty bad and if I got this out of these 75 boots that would be 62p per wear. Hmmm. So, you pay more for a boot that is comfy and warm and performs well but how long will it last for before something goes wrong. One of the reasons I chose this pair is because the sole design is TOTALLY different to the Derwent boot, I’m hoping that that wrap around lip of the sole clings on tight with lots of walking and work in the garden.
OVERALL
A great boot with thermal retention and waterproofing but sadly that little bit of slip in the grip drops it from 5 stars 4 but then pops it back up to 5 stars because of how well the sole cleaned itself meaning – I love it.
Looks and feels good. Comfortable but sturdy built compared to hunters. Fits very well as well. The weight is about right for long hours of wearing …. Snug fit around calf’s. Looking forward to the winter …
2nd pair got the higher rubber ones this time as last ones split around the join around the angle area ! it was after two years and I probably wore them every day for over a year of that.
These are excellent boots which do come up a little large. They can be described as clumpy, but there’s no way that the sole will become detached from the upper and they are completely waterproof, even if you submerge them in two feet of water after a years wearing.
Make sure you get a pair with a grippy sole, as the smooth ones make it like you’re walking on ice if there is some mud.
Welllingtons only seem to last me a year before they leak, so hoping these will last much longer. They fit nice, feel very comfy and seem well made. Time will tell. Happy so far.
Although I had to send these back as I needed safety wellingtons, I have ordered previously. If you take 1/2 size, I would go down rather than up as they are a quite generous fit. Excellent wellingtons though. Comfy and warm!
Great boots but bought a size smaller than usual as large made
Nice boots but these were too large – bought the same size from a shop and they fitted perfectly. think these ones must have been sized incorrectly!
These are my 6th pair of Muck Boots and 3rd pair of Muckmaster’s and they are without a doubt the most comfortable boot of this type I have ever owned and it is for that reason I buy them. Other boots have better grip in mud etc. (in fact that is something that lets the Muck Boots down, despite the name…) but as an all round wellie I still recommend them.
I had hunters before but they cracked across the top toe area and leaked. Got these and wear them every day to walk the dog. Warm in winter, No cracks and look and feel good when walking. Great buy and well recomended!
A bit big, but will be fine in the winter with some thick socks.
Items as described. Packaging excellent and delivered sooner than expected.
I always find the sizing moderately small. I’m normally a size 44. This brand has a 44/45 combination size. Length is okay, with thin socks, but width is too narrow. I have now ordered a 46 and this fits perfectly. Even with the thinner socks, but room enough for the thicker woolly ones.
Love these wellies and have lasted the longest the so far 19 months which beat Aigle and Hunters but would still like a pair that last for a number years for this price
Awesome wellies, top qualityand the grip in all conditions is second to none. I took mine to the Scottish festival T in the Park which is notorious for it’s mucky wet conditions!!! No problem with these on! My feet were dry all weekend and they didn’t take much cleaning when bk home to bring them bk up like new! I now use them for walking the mutt!
Without doubt, the best wellies I have ever had! These knock spots off of Hunters in every department. They are extremely comfortable, offer really good insulation without making your feet sweaty, and the robust construction is far superior to anything I’ve owned in the past.
Well worth the money!
Lighter than expected, but cosy and comfortable. Sole is easy to clear of mud.
Bought these as a present for my dad, after being impressed with muck boots myself. he has always used more expensive boots for shooting days etc and was very impressed however these came with a different design sole to the ones that I have and I’m told whilst being excellent on wet grass they are useless on wet rocks/unstable ground.
Great boot, nice and comfortable and so far watertight, I walk a lot and found them light on the feet and very warm in cold weather. Occasionally they can be slippery underfoot depending on the surface but for tracking over muddy ground they are perfect.
Waterproof (that’s the first requirement!) warm, and easy to get on and off, which many boots are not. Minus one star because they are slippy on a wet concrete surface. Just jump straight into your muddy field without crossing any pavements!!
I have yet to use my new boots, however I was very pleased with the fit, comfortable, roomy and with big calves was able to remove them without help! Ticked all the boxes for me so far. Quality product.
Comfortable and warm but very slippery on wet flag stones or any smooth surface when wet.
They are the best wellies out there. Have had hunters and other expensive efforts but i’l never buy another brand. Bought these for my partner. I’ve had a pair for about 4 years and they’ve been ragged through the borders countless times. Should be 10 stars really
Worn twice and my feet stayed warm. Nice fit and look good too.
So comfy and warm. Love the elastic top which fits snugly. Well worth the money
boots arrived on time.checked seams and all ok.size no issue order same as normal shoe size comfy and very light too wear.ample room to tuck jeans into boots.now all I’m weighting for is some good british winter weather too realy test them ,when I have I will re pos
Love ’em, love ’em. Work for Herons bonsai nursery and constantly in or under water(rain). These boots are the best ever and seeing as they rarely last a few weeks that is saying something. Ache free feet, warm feet, dry feet!
Great price and good quality, my husband loves these wellies they are warm and comfortable
This is my second pair of Muck Boots and (like the last pair) they are great; comfortable, warm and relatively light.
They are a little bigger than my last pair (even though they were both size 8) and are therefore more ‘roomy’ than I expected. They are fine with thick socks though.
I purchased these boots for my husband at Christmas in 2014 so he’s had them well over a year. He loves them.
While not a cheap welly, they are incredible value even at 60-80 I paid for them. My husband wears them most days for walking the dog which consists of lots of pavement walks and then into fields.
These boots are still going strong and they look great. He never complains of cold feet and even after 12 months there is still a huge amount of tread and life left in them. He often comments he comfortable they are and he frequently recommends them.
Up until now we had been going through welly boots every 12 months. Even our Hunters didn’t last that long so I am truly delighted with this purchase.
Purchased having read many good reviews. Predominantly want them for dog walking/dog training. Feet were like blocks of ice in “ordinary/cheap” wellies. Wanted something warm & these are great. Only had a pair of thin cotton socks on & my feet were boiling! I bought a size 5 (my usual shoe size) & they were fine. Quite roomy actually. The footbed is also wonderfully spongy & comfortable & the fit around the top of the leg is great (I have thin legs & wellies usually flapping about at the top). Would recommend.
Having previously worn Hunters I bought my first pair of Muck boots due to the declining quality of Hunter wellies. I must say I’m not disappointed the Muckmasters are a good fit, look good, durable and are very warm and comfortable. I would certainly recommend them……
Excellent boots – far better than my previous Hunters which only lasted a couple of years before splitting, and that not with excessive use, and not kept in shed/garage/car boot. These are firm, solid, warm, flexible for calf. NB quite heavy, naturally. Thoroughly recommend – but only had a few weeks.
Monster boots! They are quite big and not as snug on the leg as I thought, but they are really good. Nice and warm in the winter (don’t know about hotter temperatures) and incredibly comfy. You will find yourself a lot taller too;)
Bought as gift for someone who is hard on their foot wear and seem to be the best buy yet & doing exactly what was described by manufacturer so well worth the money. Comfortable to wear all day & keep feet warm & dry.
Well made boots but they come up too large. I am a size 7 but they are too big for me I would of returned them but I wore them outside. A size 6 with of been a better option!
Very good boot, previously had hunter wellie but thought I’d try something new as last hunters leaked. Very rugged boot, good grip and very comfy fit. Use for walking the dog, slightly more bulky than previous boots but this means they are a lot warmer and have more padding.
Superbly comfortable and above all warm on cold mornings even without socks! Highly recommended. Was a little worried about the size having seen other reviews. Shoes and boots I own range in size from 7 to 10 so it was always going to be a best guess. Went for 9 in the end, perhaps a tad larger than I would have liked but 8 might have been a bit more snug than I like. Wellie socks solve the problem. Will be interesting to see how they last given the potential punishment they will be getting.
I ordered a 5 and it is a perfect fit. I usually take a 5 to 6. I can wear normal or thick socks. They are comfortable , warm and have a good grip. The boot legs are soft and shaped so they do not rub. I have used them on muddy, hilly walks with slippy rocky paths. I have never liked wearing wellies. I have tried many types over the years and always regretted wearing them because I found them cold or rubbing on shins. I always went back to walking boots and gaiters. These Muck Boots are a pleasure to wear! They are expensive but worth it.
I got these for my husband and he loves them. He had a pair before but after about 6 years the grips had worn away on the soles. These are even better than the last ones and are definitely the best boots ever for walking the dogs every day. They are so much better than regular welly boots.
Good chunky soles and a solid feel. The neoprene upper is also great. I bought a size 10, but probably need a 10.5. That’s not a problem with the boot though. I have very wide feet, so the snug fit (although improving every day) was unfortunately to be expected.
These are my second pair of muck boots having had the last ones for 4 years. The only reason I replaced the old ones was because the tread was non existent. This was because I used these not only for walking the dog in the muddy forest but on my motorbike commuting to work. For that purpose they have been amazing. Riding at motorway speeds through two winters my feet never got cold and never got wet even when the temp was touching zero. I’ve bought the new pair for the same reason to double as a motorbike boot and will definitely continue to to keep me warm and dry in winter.
Thanks to all those who contacted me regarding the fit of these boots. They have arrived, earlier than expected and I have worn them already.Yes, very easy to put on and take off, warm very comfortable footbed, good tread. Good heavens! What have I been missing all these years? So I am very pleased with them on day one and we shall see how well they wear in due course . . .
The boots are extremely well made and really warm. I feel sure they will be long lasting but unfortunately my husband finds them very heavy to wear if walking far. I am disappointed as I bought them for him to use when dog walking. I own a similar pair of Muck boots and love mine.
Outstanding wellies as used by Gold Divers under the ice, if a size 8 get a 9 as the neoprene is extremely thick, but very warm will keep your feet super warm, warmer than any temps the UK can throw at them.
Big fan of muck boots! Warm & waterproof – what else do you need from a welly?! After trying virtually every leading make, I’m sticking with Muck Boots – they’re hard wearing, robust and comfortable. I wear my every day (horses in winter = a lot of mud) and they don’t let me down.
Great service from the seller, boots came very quickly. Fit as expected, boots like this are not meant to fit like a regular set of shoes so expect them to have a little more room for thick socks. Quality of the boots is excellent, very happy with them. Would recommend.
Fantastic pair of boots, amazing for walking in any terrain, warm, comfortable, stylish! Great pair of boots! One thing to be aware of is the sizes, if you are going by trainer size you really want to go a size smaller. I am a size 10 and rarely wear thick socks size 10 were huge on me. With super thick socks they were good fit. Depends on your use for them, if your going to wear thick socks with them size 10 would be peachy if you are just using them to bang on before work to quickly take the dogs out with your work socks then a size 9 would be spot on. Overall quality of the boots are FANTASTIC.
UPDATE: I’m getting wet feet 🙁 Both boots have split where your toes bend. They were very comfortable and I never had cold feet, so now the dilemma is do I buy again, knowing they will only last 2 years? I guess so, but they won’t get 5 stars!!
a normal wellie ,,,but warm and very comfy like walking on a good carpet,Still need a thick pair of socks to stop back of 1 leg rubbing but thats what wellies do and a bit high in the leg for driving ,Looking at other reviews ,hope they last years.
Muck boots best ever. Great in cold weather and comfortable. Grip not good on icy pavements but excellent on others. Would not buy anyother welly.
The boots were delivered in superfast time. Very impressed with the service and the price. They are generous on the size so I wouldn’t get bigger than normal shoe size. I have already walked them about 30 miles and they are very comfortable with plenty of grip. My partner has had a pair of Muck Boots for 2 years now and they must have walked hundreds of miles during that time and are still going strong.
Absolutely perfect!, keep my feet warm and dry, they fit well and are easy to put on and remove thanks to the flexible neoprene top section. They are expensive but they are great quality and I shouldn’t need to buy another pair for years making it cheap in the long run.
This is my second pair of these boots. They’re heavy-looking and ugly on but just about essential for muddy conditions. They are also warm and sturdy. I have walked miles every day through deep mud and streams and they last years. The only complaint I have about them is that they are a bit of a struggle to get into when you are wearing thick socks. This is because the boots are well shaped into the ankles, which stops you sliding about inside them. If they were any other shape they wouldn’t be half so comfortable to wear.
These wellies are the best wellies I’ve ever owned. Mind you, I’ve never paid 100 for a pair of wellies before, but I have to say, they do not disappoint. I bought a thick pair of socks to go with them which are surplus to requirements. It’s snowing here right now and I can go out in the snow and not feel a hint of the cold.
Pretty comfy too and don’t look quite as rubbish as your normal wellie boot.
I was introduced to Muck Boots by my daughter and was astounded by the idea of paying 80 for a pair of wellies. Now I’m converted! They are very comfortable (worn for a day of woodland work last Sat), warm (the temperature was sub zero) and slip on and off very easily. They are way above a standard welly in terms of comfort and warmth. The label recommends thick socks be worn with the boot and there is ample space inside for this.
I’ve tried Hunters, Dunlops and goodness knows how many others in the past but think I might finally have found a decent pair of wellis for walking the dogs in the mud and cold … these are shaping up very nicely, warm and comfortable even when we’re on a seven or eight-miler. Early impressions excellent.
These boots are excellent, I do a lot of walking in muddy farm fields with the dogs and nothing compares to them for grip and comfort. They feel like you have 4×4 on your feet but at the same time they are as comfortable as a pair of Nike Air. Also the tops of the boots hug your calves and do not rub or chafe.
The boots seem quite expensive but I have found them to be worth every penny.
Great quality wellingtons. Very comfy and warm. Size as expected. Bought these for our son for Christmas as his job involves walking and exercising dogs on a daily basis, whatever the weather. They are well worth the money and as comfy as wearing your slippers. Ordered these from the Internet Gardner and we were very impressed when they arrived two days later. Excellent service.
Good boot with good sole and liner nice soft top for pulling on
Would suggest though that you go up a size as width ok but length a bit tigh
I have, over the years, tried several brands of Wellie (I am a vet), which all left my feet tired at the end of the day – while the rest of me was perfectly fine. I found with the Muckboot that I did not rush to take them off straight after a job. They were still comfortable. It is this comfort that had engendered the loyalty. The only pity is this: I can use only one pair at any one time!
Boots arrived two days later than expected, however I’ve worn them a few times and I have to say they are very comfortable. Hopefully I’ll get a good bit of wear out of them. Early days yet bit hopefully worth the money. Pleaded so far!
Yesterday I was out on a farm and the farmer had a pair. He said they were the best wellies he had used in fifty years of farming.
Bought these for hubby and he swears by them…they are warm underfoot and obviously waterproof too but also comfortable to walk in. He raves about them. Many other boots – including more expensive boots – fail due to his walking miles every day, these seem to have embarrassed all other makes by being so durable and comfortable too.
great boots but the sizing is a bit off, they are smaller than expected and would recommend to go a size bigge
I was a bit reluctant to spend so much on willies that are only used for walking the dog, but I know lots of people who have bought cheaper willies that started leaking sooner than was acceptable. I have been wearing these for dog walking for about 6 months and they are definitely the most comfortable I have ever had, My only criticism is that the heel ledge could have been made slightly larger to make getting them off using the toe on the other foot easier. They are very sturdy and that is reflected in their weight. That doesn’t bother me as I wear them for an hour or an hour and half each time, but someone wearing them all day for work might have an issue.
I tested my new wellies, fishing, hill climbing, walking dog on beach, etc and they kept my feet dry and warm after many hours use.
Buy your normal shoe size and they should fit okay – I wore two pairs of socks, not too heavy so you may get away with one thick pair.
Really good grip and they look the part too.
Fingers crossed I get a few years out of them, don’t see why not..
I need a good pair of wellies for the daily walk of my two Dalmatians. In the past I have bought cheap to mid range boots, none of which have felt comfortable or have lasted long. These feel totally different. They feel more like a walking boot hugging the foot well and holding the heel down. The sole is thick enough that the ground can not be felt through it, There is adequate padding throughout to make the boot feel comfortable and warm, no doubt too warm for the summer. The grip is good from the wide tread which does not get blocked with mud.
My normal size is UK 9. I read that they come up big so I bought a 9 when I would usually have a 10 in wellies, these are fine and fit well.
Bought these for hubby to take our hounds for a walk twice a day. Since we have been deluged with rain for the last few weeks, this has been an increasingly muddy job. He has gone through three pairs of wellies in under three years so I am keeping my fingers crossed that ‘you get what you pay for’, we will see how long these last! He reports that they are the most comfortable wellies he has ever had so we are off to a good start.
