I don’t do any mowing my wife is the lawn lady. She said she wished we’d bought one years ago.

It’s very easy to put together and it’s lightweight and very easy to use. The batteries are easy to charge and are efficient My only complaint is that the mower doesn’t cut as low as the Bosch it replaced and there are no visible stripes when I’ve finished cutting the lawn which I liked. I contacted the manufacturers who were quick to reply but the lowest cut is above 25cm.

Assembled without reference to instructions in minutes. I thought it was so intuitive.
It is light, flexible and easy to use. Probably the best mower I have ever owned.

This replaces a mains Bosch 430 Ergoflex. I have 140m2 over three terraced lawns and finally gave up on cables snagging on dividing walls. Battery seems a risk (life expectancy and power) but V favourable out of the box. No spill of trimmings when mowing, no awkward corners in the bag to resist emptying, 3/4 full bag came off with minimal spill, no outer or underneath crevices to fill with trimmings. Yes! These are all criticisms I have of my Bosch. Cuts to 15cm end-on to my walls and 2.5-3.0cm along the wall. I also use a 47cm petrol self-drive Honda on bigger lawns and this Murray’s collection is tidier. No complaints. Feels sturdy with a rigid handle. It felt heavier carrying it than I’d expected from the published weight, not helped by poor balance with the handle in mowing position but it feels easier to push when mowing! I think I’ll need to use the quick release levers to fold that forward for carrying (down the terraces). Despite weight there’s very little wheel denting (big wheels?) and it cuts over my lawn edges without my worrying that it will drop off. Main crit is the sharp-edged bale handle and the need to keep the safety key securely but those are small, solvable niggles. Mowing time is just a fraction of what it was. Fingers crossed for battery life span. So far delighted.

Stunningly quiet. Exceeded the range on the battery. I have a lawn the size of two tennis courts albeit in an odd shape yet st the end of the mow the battery still had 67% left. One warning if buying from Warehouse…. given the batteries are so expensive I received the item “very good condition” without batteries (150). I think someone is buying them new, taking batteries out and returning them, then selling batteries privately.

Forget the impenetrable set up guide, and watch the on – line video instead. One picture is worth a thousand words. I had it out of the box, batteries fully charged, and on the lawn within half an hour.
I’m tall, yet the handles seem quite high. Of average stature, the lowest setting may be advisable. Either way, it’s easy to adjust.
The batteries arrived almost fully charged, which was helpful. They do need a firm push, in the charger, and in the mower to connect.
The mower feels light and is easily manoeuvrable, and I can’t wait to put it through it’s paces during Spring and Summer.
I love the idea of being able to use the batteries on different tools. How long before I order the hedge trimmer!

I have always had Flymo hover mowers before this purchase. I wanted a cordless mower and wanted the best I could get at the most competitive price. I decided to give the Amazon warehouse a try. This mower was down from 299 to 168 and was classed as just acceptable. When I received it I was expecting large dents and some damage but apart from perhaps a slight graze on the plastic battery compartment cover I couldn’t find any marks. Only the instruction booklet and box were a bit tatty. I tried the lawnmower to check it functioned as it should and it was excellent even if it was just a quick trial in December just to see if I needed to send it back. I cut first at grade 7 and it was too high so I lowered it to grade 4 and it cut very well. There are mower settings for cutting but it will be well into teh summer before I can get to use them – can’t wait. It is such an efficient machine and cuts the grass in super quick time. Half the grass was cut in just a few minutes and the batteries still have 98% charge. I’ll be buying from the warehouse special deals again. If this was supposed to be just ‘acceptable’ the ‘very good’ buys in the warehouse must be amazing. I’m very pleased to have saved 130 on a lawnmower that is no different to a 300 Murray mower after a couple of outings. Thanks Amazon and thanks Murray – what an excellent lawnmower. So, powerful and great build quality. Bring on the Spring!

    An absolute bargain!

Initially I was very sceptical at buying an electric lawn mower and I am so pleased I choose this one. With its dual batteries it easily cuts my quite large garden. Lots of adjustable cutting height and a good size collection box. Its also not very heavy. Comes with the dual charger and the batteries don’t take long to charge. So pleased with this one I also bought the hedge trimme

Great bit of kit…the wife loves it. We have three separate lawns, which I used to do with a motor mower, and was hard work. The batteries on this last long enough to complete one, sometimes one and a half lawns, depending how damp the grass is, and with the quick charging, can complete the rest the same day. Much lighter to use, and quite easy to clean.

I spent days researching battery operated lawnmowers. My special daughter was moving into her new home requiring a decent lawn mower. Thankfully I made a great choice as she is thrilled to bits with the handling of the machine and the different cut levels. Having listened to her feedback I have no hesitation in recommending. Not to heavy but sturdy.. Decent battery life but two batteries required for two average size lawns on new properties these days..

We had just bought a new house and the lawn was ridiculously long. I had looked into a lot a lawnmowers and all the cheaper ones had complaints of running out of battery quickly or not cutting grass properly. I decided to spend a bit more and ended up with this one.

    First bit, assembly:
Super easy, it comes 90% assembled already.

    Starting it:
Stick the two batteries in, the battery key, and you’re good to go.

    Mowing:
As said, VERY long grass, and it was wet as well, it really ploughed through these patches of thick grass so I was very impressed. I have about 70m2 of lawn, and at 3/4 the batteries had to recharge, but this was solely because of the state of my grass, it will easily cover my lawn on 1 charge with normal length grass.

    Conclusion:
Look no further, this it the cordless lawnmower you’re looking for.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a brilliant machine and I wish I had bought it years ago. I’ve struggled with a wired electric mower on our relatively small lawn (100 square metres or so) for years so switching to a battery-powered mower was a revelation. It took me less than ten minutes to mow our lawn – half the time it used to take – and the batteries were still indicating a full charge afterwards. I am seriously impressed!

However, (sorry about this Murray, you must hate the ‘howevers’) I did struggle more than I should have done with the assembly, and note from the questions above and other reviews that I’m not alone in this respect. Being nearly 70 years old and doubtless with slightly less than perfect eyesight, the diagrams in the manual were too small to be useful and the associated figure text was so small as to be virtually illegible. Figures 2, 3 and 4 were basically useless for me although I guess those with younger eyes probably struggled less!

The text refers several times to the Safety Key but never once mentions where it is located. I only realized after I had completed the build that Figure 6 shows it; since I struggled with the diagrams I was relying on the text. It really wouldn’t hurt to write its location in the manual (it is inside the battery compartment). This caused a delay of 10 minutes as I hunted through all the boxes several times believing I had somehow missed it in the unpacking and I was on the point of giving up when I finally located it.

Also unclear in the manual is that the upper and lower handle cam locks are different, and again Figures 2 and 3 are so miniscule as to be useless to me. The lower cam locks have no nut attached and are the longest of the two pairs. These simply screw into the holes provided which are suitably threaded for the purpose. The upper cam locks come with the nuts attached and these have to be removed, as do the washers. The bolts are then threaded through from the inside of the handle to the outside where the washer and the nut are attached. Figuring all this out caused a further 10 minute delay. Maybe for some folks this was all obvious, but it wasn’t to me.

I could not find any mention of the two cable clips, so wasn’t really sure quite where to locate these on the handle. They were not even shown in the ‘Features and Supplied Items’ list. So I just put these where they seemed to be the most effective but have no idea if that was what the manufacturer intended.

If I were to assemble another one now it would take no more than 10 minutes, as it was it took about half an hour with a not inconsiderable amount of frustration. It was a good job that once assembled and used, the mower was so brilliant that it made it worth the bother.

My advice to Murray – do more engineering like this, but improve your manual! Great product.

Lightweight, highly effective, a joy to use. The manual could be improved.

I bought this to replace a Briggs and Stratton petrol mower which was always reliable. This mower has a Briggs and Stratton electric motor so i thought I would give it a go. I couldn’t be more pleased. It was fiddly to assemble from the box and the grass box need some extra adjustment to fit properly but once all that was completed the machine does a great job on my x 2 lawns. It is quiet and light to manoeouvre and the batteries last for at least x 2 cuts of x2 lawns. I highly recommend this mowe

The mower is easy to put together and works very well. I am just curious though as to why they bother to include the manuals (mower and charger) – running to many many pages in many many languages. They are useless and omit much useful information – and having read the English, French and German variants I can only assume that the whole thing is a waste of the paper it is p[rinted on.

Have used the mower for a few months now. Overall a good lawn mower. Battery, attachment method and charger best features, grass collection great. Niggling features, bottom bar on grass collection box keeps coming detached, so have to refit it constantly, front wheels flimsy, but does job, grip on handle showing signs of damage, but not obvious what caused the damage. Overall pleased with purchasing a battery lawn mower instead of the petrol mowers always used, with the expensive servicing charges.

After looking at various review sites etc, I decided to go for this mower…I didn’t like the idea of buying an actual petrol mower. Brought this from amazon warehouse but machine is in perfect order so even more happy that I bagged a bargain…

Took me a little while to fit the handles…I’ve very weak hands and arms so getting the clamps to clamp was a bit difficult..but I didn’t start swearing doing it so not a major annoyance.

Brilliant alternative to a petrol mower, the technology has definately improved since I last looked into cordless…

I really didn’t expect to be quite as impressed as I was. I’ve used assorted mowers – petrol, tractor, electric, unpowered – for some 50 years and this is by far the easiest and lightest. Asking it to cut damp grass was possibly unfair but it didn’t grumble. Waiting for dry grass here means it needs a scythe (literally), not a mower! The motor speeds up if the grass is long or challenging. I was very pleased with the time it lasted before the batteries needed charging – a good 30 minutes, despite having to work hard. Cutting round the numerous shrubs was easy due to the lightness of the mower and it deals with uneven ground just fine. Just as well as our garden’s pretty lumpy! Very good range of cutting heights – something I researched very thoroughly among various brands before buying. Grass catcher is a good size, stays on just fine if you’ve put it together properly (so ignore the comments from the person who didn’t!) and has a handhold underneath to make tipping it easier for emptying. Nice touch! Handle can be adjusted for comfortable use, even by shorties like me. Assembly requires common sense in addition to the not exactly brilliant instructions but was pretty logical. Bought this model because it had the 2 x 5ah batteries rather than 2.5ah on the slightly smaller model. This was to provide extra power both for the mower and for the strimmer and hedge trimmer I also bought. Charger is nicely designed and visually appealing so I feel if they’ve gone to so much trouble over that, the machinery it powers has also had some thought put into it. Will the plastic last 5 years as per guarantee? Time will tell!

We thought two batteries was to use one and have a spare but both batteries have to be used in order for the mower to work. On the plus side, definitely a cleaner cut and after using it a couple of times, our grass looks healthier.

I read the reviews for this and was a little worried over some of the comments, but to be honest it’s brilliant. Easy to set up – I had minor trouble trying to screw the handle to the frame but purely because I was doing it myself – once the screws were in I was set up in less than 10 minutes.

Batteries were charged to 90% already so thought I’d go out and test it. Managed to do the front and back gardens with a little over 45% remaining so I’m confident this would do 2 runs before charging is needed. Literally flies over the grass now and is easy to maneuver.

One minor issue was the grass catcher bag kept falling off as I walked – the trick to fix this is to stretch the frame of the bag slightly to get a tighter fit/better tolerance level. Once I’d done this, it stays in place without issue. I used Facebook messenger to contact the company and can say they are extremely helpful in my experience.

All in all I’m really happy with the quality and performance to be honest – so I’m glad I ditched the old, corded mower!

I have a lawn that takes around 30 to 40 minutes to cut and this lawn mower easily cuts all the lawn closely and picks up all the grass. It’s basket holds more than I thought out would so I empty it less than when I used a petrol mower.
I use the batteries to power the strimmer immediately after cutting the lawn .
I love using this mower and my wife who was unable to use the petrol mower because it was too heavy can easily use this mower.
It’s easily cleanened and the batteries are reasonably quickly charged.

  44. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

Easy enough to put together, with decent instructions. Batteries charge fairly quickly and you’ll be up and running in no time. I don’t have a huge garden so I can get 2 cuts front and back, out of a single charge. I also use the batteries with the strimmer to edge the lawn so there’s plenty of charge. I haven’t tried it with really long grass, but the height is adjustable and there’s plenty of power in the motor.
This gives the freedom of a petrol mower, but without the maintenance overhead. It’s not feather light, but for the size it’s not too bad.

  45. IrmaMaclean says:

Had this a few months now. Quality mower with out wires. Get the job done with great efficiency. One gripe is the grass collection basket not being a perfect fit required some re shaping to stop it detaching mid cut.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersMy first impression of this machine was putting it together. Instructions and images are dreadful. It’s actually quite simple, but you don’t realise this. But two of the screws you need to unscrew the nuts first. (PS large ones down the bottom. They don’t even tell you that!). I was looking for the nuts and an aborted call to Amazon later then I figured it out. As I say the small images and spare instructions are absolutely dreadful. Sort it out. How can you build a machine like this, so much R&D etc and get some idiot to draw up the instructions. Literally so bad. It really beggars belief. I could do it myself in 10 minutes for you now having spent an hour on it. What is SO difficult! Half a star off for this and think yourselves lucky.

OK so got it up and working. Fairly light. About the same as our previous 10 year old electric Bosch which was a 34 inch. But of course no cables. Great news. I reckon I got as much as 40 minutes from the first run. Fairly heavy grass and I probably cut too low. But that reached maybe 300m2 of the 450m2 or so I needed. They say “up to” 640m2 but I’m guessing that’s on a high cut and a lawn that’s 1m by 640m with one simple straight run. Not many of those around. So it stays about the same for 36 minutes as promised but half a star off for the 640m2. By the way I ran out of battery, recharged for 25 minutes and that gave another 150m2 or so. But quite frankly if I have to cut the lawn for an hour I want it out of the way so bollocks to tea breaks etc while it’s done. I’ve decided I’ll keep it but I’m going to have to buy another 2 batteries. Here’s the problem. The batteries cost 79 each, that’s 158 for two. That’s more than half the cost of the original mower. Another half star off which makes 3.5 but I’ll generously round up to 4 stars. That’s for the colour and design, neighbours are blown away!

By the way a few posts about the grass holder but it’s fine. My lawn’s pretty flat. no issues, it didn’t come off when I put it on properly. Somebody mentioned the chrome bar, make sure it’s underneath and outside, maybe that was the isuue. If you’re running over all sorts of bumps and rough terrain then maybe it’s an issue? I don’t know.

But, now it’s built, I like it. 4 stars overall. Meanwhile I’ll overlook the over selling of the pointless USB feature which quite frankly, come’ on! Who the hell needs that?! Except the guy with the 635m long garden whose got 5m of charge left to charge his phone and call back to the house to come and pick him up.

Had this for 4 weeks now, 2 full grass cuts of a 230m2 lawn and overall very happy with it (particularly since it was 25% less expensive than advertised today). Wanted to go cordless for a while but was sceptical of battery performance. Decided to try this based on allegedly independent expert reviews elsewhere.

A little annoying to assemble. It’s not difficult but the instructions are picture only, but not clear. Very easy to mix up brackets and have to start again. The grass basket seems flimsy. I hope it will last. Overall build quality seems fair. Most parts are plastic but that does make it very light.

Cutting grass is a joy for someone previously used to moving an electric cord every few seconds. The cordless element saves loads of time. And yes, I can cut that lawn size in less than the promised battery time. Will that hold as batteries age? I hope I have enough margin to keep it so. Full recharge of batteries seems to only be around 1h if required.

Would have liked a shorter cut length. I’m on the lowest and it’s not exactly bowling green but that’s true for many electric mowers in my experience.

Love being cordless, the light weight, and ease to move around. A good buy!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have 160m2 of grass with 4 small tress plonked in the way and have used 33cm bladed Flymo hover mowers for the last 32 years – it usually takes me about 45 minutes to do the lot.
Fed up with whipping the power cable out of the way all the time and with my latest hover not hovering very well due to the plastic skirt being worn through, I thought I’d get down with the kids and go cordless with this 44cm Murray.
First the good points – it now takes me half the time that it used to with the Flymo and the batteries show 66% left after one mow on blade height 2 from fully charged. The cuttings it produces are very small and the grass box large so I can complete the whole cut before emptying.
The minor gripes – I wish there was a height setting between 1 & 2. Setting 2 doesn’t cut quite as close as the hover did, and 1 causes the blade to drag and cut too close where the mower wheels bridge any humps/bumps in the grass giving an uneven finish. If you have a perfectly flat lawn then worry not.

Overall, I love it and mowing the lawn is no longer a chore.

Unpacked our new lawnmower this morning , easy to put together and set up impressed that the two batteries that were in the box came fully charged and ready to go , a good looking machine about the same weight as my old ryobi machine which gave up last week after 9 years service , plenty of power at hand and made short work of the grass it even increases and decreases the revs of the blade as needed with the density of the grass being cut and did not even need a recharge after finishing , not cheap but worth the money for the 5ah , 36v power and the excellent quality of the mower as a whole
    Update
Still giving excellent service , I regularly get 4 cuts per charge depending on the length of the grass and I do not have a small garden so I think that is impressive , it has never let me down and always does a great job it just makes the mowing so easy

Very pleased with this lawn mover, following its maiden run this week (having purchased it in late autumn last year. Cuts really close, in fact lowest setting is probably too lower for summer cutting if its dry (liable to brown lawn quickly), but great to be able to get that low. Very easy to use and only a small adjustment in how you might use this vs a petrol lawn mower (ie. you can’t go in hard on long grass and expect it to manage it). Very happy with battery life too.

Was a little apprehensive as I had never heard of the manufacturer, but the Briggs and Stratton power unit helped make my mind up. On arrival it was easy to assemble, batteries had some charge but fully charged them and waited till grass dried – which did not happen. Decided to cut grass despite it being wet and found the mower dealt with it efficiently leaving a good cut and it had no difficulty inthroning the into the bag. Cut front and rear lawns and used less than 50% charge despite the grass overdue a cut. Impressed with purchase and loving the fact I no longer have to look after the electric cable on old mower.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersEl aparato es ligero y de apariencia algo frgil.

    * INTRO:

    * Motor

    * Bateras y cargador

    * Experiencia de uso.

    * Conclusin final

Having a lawn mower which makes life easier to complete the task is a massive bonus and my personal
search for a machine to do this is now over. Let me first give you the scope of the task. I have one large lawn
measuring 12.25 metres by 5.50 metres.

So, out of the box it is easy to assemble all the component parts. It took about twenty minutes following
the guidance in the brochure. It is the usual diagrammatic instruction.
After assembly, ensure that the batteries are fully charged . They arrive with an amount of charge -mine
was about 75% so it doesn’t take long to top it up. In placing the batteries underneath the cover on the
mower, ensure they are firmly pressed in and you will hear a distinctive ‘click.’ The final bit is to insert the
red safety key and you are ready to go. It is a relatively simple process.

After using both petrol and electric mowers previously I was surprised and pleased of the ease in
operating the machine. There are a number of options ranging from a high to a closer cut. There are
seven positions which can be selected by a single lever. They move easy between the inserts.
Needless to say they all went well. The 18v 2.5 Ah batteries power the machine very well. It was smooth, the noise as is
claimed by the manufacturer is relatively low and the soft grip handles make it a comfortable experience.
There are of course no wires to be concerned about or constantly rearranged whilst mowing the lawn.

I have now used it on four different occasions and it is hard to fault or find any shortcomings. The run time
is cited as 32 minutes but mine last just on 12 minutes more than that.

I note that it comes with a 5 year guarantee -which indicates confidence by the manufacturer.

Overall, this is an effective, easy to manoeuvre lawn mower which takes all the drudge out of the task.
    Recommended.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve been using an orange hover-mower for years and didn’t realise how much it needed to be replaced. It was a bit cracked and broken — you know when you want to throw something out but decide to hang onto it for a while? Well that’s me and the mower for the last three years.

I was asked to test the Murray battery powered mower by Amazon and that’s the day the orange hover-mower went to the local dump. At first I found it odd to be using something without a power lead but the degree of freedom was excellent. The batteries were almost charged when I unboxed the mower. One was above 90% and the other at about 85% so I just went ahead and used them. There’s a readout on each battery (percentage charged) and when they’re installed a button to press on the top handle which shows a three light system to indicate how they’re doing. When the batteries are installed there’s a safety key that fits between them and a good cover that keeps them clean.

Setting the machine up was relatively simple — just attach the two sets of handles and install the batteries. The handles are held in place by locking handles which allow you to quickly fold the handles down for storage. The grass collector box is large and easy to attach and detach. I also noticed that that grass is chopped a lot finer than the Flymo did it.
There are two manuals that come with the mower, one on the mower itself and the other on the Lithium Batteries. The mower manual is 322 pages long and the battery one 204. However, don’t panic — they’re in many different languages so the English bits are 19 and 13 pages respectively. My only gripe is that the diagrams for mower assembly (of the handles, grass-box, batteries etc.) are very small and you need a magnifying glass to view them. It would have been better to have had full page size diagrams that fold out.

The mower has seven cutter height settings, adjusted by a lever on the side. I started off at number 4 but it was too high, tried number 1 (too low) and ended up at number 2. It’s so easy. The orange hover-mower had spacers to adjust the blade height and you had to use a spanner to remove the blade and move the spacers each time. Not any more! I can see that the first cut of the year will be on a high setting and other cut heights will be dependent on the weather or time between cuts.

The only other thing I had to get used to was using a wheeled mower instead of a hover version. However, it wasn’t that bad. Getting to grips with 180 degree turns was a minor challenge but I soon mastered it and I quite enjoyed the new experience.

The Murray is a well designed and robust mower. It’s easy to stow away, easy to maintain and use, and is my new favourite toy. Highly recommended.

    Goodbye hover mower!

Golden Review Award: 146 From Our UsersMurray 44cm Dual 18v Battery Cordless Mower With 50L Grass Collection Box

I managed around 60 square metres on mowing level 4, in 7 minutes 10 seconds. I have varying levels of mowing difficulty on the lawns. Afterwards there was 95 and 96% charge remaining in the batteries.

1.5 week interval. Batteries untouched. Second mow on level 3, in 6 minutes 43 seconds. 75 and 76% charge remaining.

2 week interval. Batteries untouched. Third mow on level 3. 56 and 57% charge remaining.

I actually achieved 5 mows of 60 square metres, out of one battery charge over a 10 week period. Leaving 8 and 9% charge remaining after mow number 5.

    I’m impressed.

    Why the Murray?
*Cutting width 44cm = less runs up and down.
*Weight 14kg = pressure off my knees and back.
*Run time 36 minutes = enough for all my lawns, multiple mows on one battery charge.
*No power cables and petrol required.
*Guarantee 5 years and 3 years battery = peace of mind.

What Came Out Of The Box?

First Out Of The Box = Manuals
Large due to translations into many languages. The English instructions are short and simple enough to follow. There is also a quick start tag on the mower showing operating advice.

Next Out = Batteries and Dual Charger
Simple to slot into the charger and view the charging light indicators. Flashes green whilst charging. Solid green when charged.
The charging unit has a useful additional USB charger for an additional device. Each battery also has a USB output and can act as a power bank. All 3 items have 5.0V 1.0A USB output.
Each Briggs and Stratton battery has a digital display indicating percentage charge remaining. The 18v 5Ah batteries arrived with 96 and 97% charge respectively. Topped up to 100% in no time.

    Last Out = Mower
14kg with a central handle to lift the mower. Additional grass box, handles and screw fittings.

    Assembling The Mower
Short instructions because there are only a handful of things to do.
1.Put the 2-part handle together and screw in the quick release levers, pull the levers to lock.
2.Place the cables in snap on cable holders.
3.Clip the grass collector to its metal outer and insert.
    Done.

    Grass Collection Box
50 litres. Ample for my 60 square metres or so.

    Weight
15kg in the box. Feels light as a feather at the handle when assembled. Compared to my outgoing, trusty, petrol, 46cm, rear roller beast of 15 years this is like cutting the grass with a yard brush! It is light and manoeuvrable. What a breeze.

    Visual Appeal
What a cracker. Love the silver, black and green. See my pictures assembled in the kitchen. I actually stood with my arms folded in satisfaction and admired the mower for quite a while.

First Cut Of 60 Square Metres

    Lawn Conditions
My grass was long in summer. (Due to weeks of rain!) I waited for a dry day.
I waited a while. I chose to cut on a dry morning after overnight rain. I had a few hours window before the next showers. My grass was ranging from 4 to 6 inches in height by this time and the base was wet. It was like the first cut of spring and a good benchmark. I chose mowing level 4.
My lawns are split. A simple square cut, and tricky runs around lighting posts and swings. After the sad passing of my petrol mower. I borrowed a 36cm cabled mower. Cut, edging and tidy up took an hour or so on the cable.

    Mower Performance
The Murray decimated that one hour time. I finished both lawn cuts, the simple square lawn and the tricky one in only 7 minutes 10 seconds with 96 and 95% charge left in the batteries. I made only two trips to the wheelie bin with cuttings in the ample 50L grass box. The edging and clean up took the usual time. But the mowing was a doddle.

    Freedom To Mow
The mower was straight out of the shed and into action. No petrol required. No electric cables to set up (and avoid!). Light and easy — the blade felt powerful in action. I moved at a good pace and the grass was cut well, even in the wet(ish) conditions.

    Run Time & Battery Charging
Obviously I am going to get a number of mows out of 1 charging cycle. At the time of writing I do not know the charging duration of depleted batteries. The manual states the mower can accomplish 640 square metres of mowing in 36 minutes. I believe it. I managed around 60 square metres in 7 minutes 10 seconds with varying levels of mowing difficulty. There was 95 and 96% charge remaining in the batteries. The question is: will I get 5 more mows out of the batteries? watch this space!

    UPDATE
    MOW No.1: 96 and 95% charge remaining, level 4, 2 grass buckets

    1.5 week interval

    MOW No.2: 75 and 76% charge remaining, level 3, 2 grass buckets

    2 week interval

    MOW No.3: 56 and 57% charge remaining, level 3, 1 grass bucket

    Overall
    Very pleased with my purchase.
I have limited time. This mower offers me opportunist mowing at the drop of a hat in 7 minutes. It is an attractive mower. Light, manoeuvrable, powerful with good grass collection capacity. The 44cm cutting width means less runs up and down. Long battery life. Good run time and guarantee. I am happily leaving petrol and cables behind.

Got a Murray 44cm lawn mower for Father’s Day, I’ve had an electric mower with a lead that’s not quite long enough for years that meant I couldn’t do the back harden in one go. So I got a 44 as a present and it’s great. It’s light so no worries pushing it, big chunky wheels, huge grass box. There is a half second delay between engaging power and you getting power to the blade but I’m used to it now, all in all well impressed. The batteries have there own level indicators built in, I checked after one cut and the level dropped to 86% on both batteries ( my lawn is about 12m x 20m) so I’m happy with the performance. Decent cutter, good at collecting and the batteries seem to be not too bad.

Golden Review Award: 211 From Our UsersI have front and rear lawns and my front lawn is the largest in the street. It also has flower beds and trees which made mowing with a corded mower a bit of a challenge as the cable would weave around and catch, also the extension would need moved. It would take me around 90 minutes to mow the lawn but with the Murray 44cm Battery mower it’s down to 30 minutes!

I dislike petrol mowers because of the maintenance and lack of power so when I discovered battery mowers I researched them to death.

After an exhaustive search I found this Murray 44cm blade mower to be the best value. I took into account blade length, catcher size, run time and power source.

The wide blades make a real difference to the number of passes across the lawn so that was a must for me, I borrowed a friends 32cm blade mower and it was tortuous going back and forth endlessly. Wider blades (44cm) need more power to push them around and the duel 18v Samsung Batteries power this mower perfectly well at a total of 36v. It must have both batteries fitted to run. As a bonus, the batteries actually have a USB port on them for phone charging etc. and at 5 amp hours they are serious portable chargers for camping or garden days.

During use I can hear the mower adjusting its rotor speed to suit the resistance of the grass which saves power.

On my searches I discovered plenty of mowers around the 120 to 180 but they all had compromises, small blade size, weak battery (single 18v), small grass catcher, bad reviews and run time. This is the first mower on the market product price ladder which has no compromises and at a price of just under 250 I decided that it was worth the extra to get some of my weekends back.

I was concerned that the stated 36 minute run time would be too short to get around both lawns in time but the batteries display said I still had 39% after 30 minutes of run time… and I cut my grass a bit wet!

I’m looking forward to cutting my grass now,
I never thought I’d say that.
