This is my first night vision device purchase. Works pretty damn well and is surprisingly clear for being less than $150. Image is clear on the view screen. Images come up low resolution when sharing to a laptop or phone. But on the device I can see what I need to in the field. Already used it to spot hogs on my ranch property. Just wish I could mount it to a helmet rig, but hey it’s pretty damn useful already. Will probably buy another or the upgraded version whenever they decide to make one.

Extremely good value and work very well as IR NV instrument. But a major issue is the lack of an adjustable eyepiece diopter which can result in seemingly poor performance due to the inability to focus on the image screen. I have overcome this by buying a pair of cheap, off the shelf, reading glasses (+3.5 in my case which will vary from person to person) for use with the monocular. This results in a crisp very useable image thus eliminating the monoculars biggest drawback for me and justifies the units cost. Younger users with perfect eyesight may have no issues. Build quality adequate but won’t stand any really rough treatment. Very small, easily pocketable and comfortable to use. The firmware can be a bit flakey when turning on/off, adjustment menu selections etc. but not a show stopper. For the price this unit is a good and very useable piece of kit but with the caveat of lack of diopter. Given the price I have reservations in recommending this NV (IR) monocular.

Fantastic night vision scope. Great definition. Clear, crisp images. Rugged and extremely versatile. Takes great images. Worth every penny.

I was slightly disappointed in the optics. Can’t seem to get sharp focus. Instead, sort of “least blurry” focus is best it will do. But in fairness, what did I expect for $150? Hence the 4 stars.

This is an absolutely brilliant piece of kit for the money and the best out there for the price bracket this is absolutely perfect for me for spotting rats and rabbits
    Thanks

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersDoing a spot of research for adding Night Vision to my ‘Predator’ Helmet. I came across ‘Digital’ NV over the traditional Phosphor/Intensifier tubes. Thinking it was a gimmick I tried to find more info eventually finding a British company of all things called Nightfox. Unfortunately they don’t have x1 magnification monoculars only x3, try walking with zoomed in vision…
Reviews were all over the place, however if a strong feeling the users didn’t understand the basic instruction and blamed the product for their own lack of ability ie. ‘Did you focus it’ when complaining you couldn’t recognise anything through it, or appreciating it’s just a spotting scope not a high end camera for a nature document. But this unit was actually really cheap so thought, well I need to see for myself.
I like it, feels proper prem. in the hand, Its crisp when I focus it properly, got a good feeling focusing ring weighs less than my IPhone. Takes pics and videos. quick to start up. Can be used day and night. So i’ve not actually seen any cons to traditional Night Vison. Maybe the range is less, not that i noticed. And there is a slight red glow from the IR illuminator so its not stealthy and you will stick out to anyone/thing with NV (I included a phone pic of the Illuminator, hopefully you can see how much the camera enhanced the light as it was dark, its really not that bright to the eye).
    Nightfox Cub.
Pictures show low light settings in the different modes. Normal, IR0 and IR1, increasing the IR level just makes the light brighter helping with range.
Also tried to show it in action and how dark it was. This works and at slightly over 100 it’s well worth it. The image quality is better than my gen1+ nvgs.
Field of vision ain’t great, think more like a rifle sight and the battery management system seems unpredictable, ie not full, full, without any change.
Also battery can be readily changed to a 9600mah one I think nearly tripling the running time meaning I no longer care about the battery indicator.
    Enjoy.

A decent, high quality feeling bit of NV equipment.

A simple night vision monocular. It only has a few buttons which makes it easy to use. If there is some ambient light you don’t need the IR function. When the IR is on use you can see a faint glow up close when looking directly at the unit. The biggest downside is that the field of view is very small. Overall it provides good value for money and a good option when compared to no night vision at all.

If you are looking for a night vision for hunting this is great if your looking for airsoft which is why I bought it the red light is very visible

Item as advertised…pleasantly surprised, wasn’t expecting a great deal of night vision capability however it definitely works well…it is not Military grade but could be useful in a pinch for observing about the property…definitely recommend.

This thing doesn’t just let you see 165 yds; it flat out lights up the whole distance there. You get 3 modes: Color, IR, and IR illuminated. When I can be in IR and see nothing to prove it’s pitch black and turn on the illuminator and see all the way to the end of my 400 ft driveway I’m impressed. The body is made of an almost rubber feeling plastic and feels sturdy enough that I wouldn’t be surprised if it could handle being driven over. It’s reasonably light and without the battery almost feels like an empty shell. The buttons could use some form of raised bits to give you a hint of where you are on them because in the dark there’s no way to know which one you’re pressing. The focus knob is big and rubbery so if you need to adjust in gloves it wont be a problem. Bonus points for not only using a modern USB-C plug for charging but making the 18650 battery removable so you can just carry spares. Just including an SD card is a nice touch too. You may find yourself wondering why the backlight can get brighter when the screen is plenty bright out in the dark but what it allows you to do is go fully passive and turn off the illuminator. The IR light source can be seen so if there’s enough ambient light you can essentially boost it by turning the backlight up. You’re not getting a massively detailed image either in the viewfinder or recorded but you do get plenty of detail to see what you’re looking at. My biggest complaint is that the widest angle you can get is still about a 2.5x zoom. I’d like to be able to be a little less zoomed in to start with though I recognize if you don’t have optical zoom it’s reasonable to start farther in. I think this is a pretty well made little device that can take a bit of a beating and keep giving you a view way into the dark. Nice to have around.

Appearance: This monocular is really nice!

Assembly: Install the batteries and follow the instructions for use.

Thoughts: I like this monocular a lot. It’s one of my favorite night-vision products. You’re not going to find military-grade, or movie grade performance, but a really good value for what you get. I was pleasantly surprised by this item. 5/5

    Overall: Great Monocula

This night vision monocular works well! The controls are simple once you get used to them. You can get a good clear image using the built in infra red lamp. The focus can be a little hit & miss sometimes, but with care a good focus can be obtained. As an entry level night vision monocular these are pretty good!

This works well for spotting the coyotes in the wetlands behind our home at night. They come closer into town the deeper into winter we get, looking for small animals. With this we’ve been able to see them and how close they get, and where they appear to be hunting at as well as bedding down at some nights. The image is clear and it’s easy to use.

I bought a cheap night vision scope in the 70’s. Things have improved greatly. Gone is the bulky, heavy scope with a blurry green screen. This device is modern technology. Digital, USB-C connector. Video capture. Amazing features for such a reasonable price. Having a removable rechargeable battery is a great feature. You can bring a spare battery and swap in the field. If the battery wears out, unlike a mobile phone, you don’t need to destroy the device to replace it. The lack of vision adjustment on the viewer may be an issue for some. If you need reading glasses to see close up, you may need them to view with this device. Night vision viewing is exactly what it should be for a gen 1 device. I like that you can spot all the IR scopes and cameras in the area as well even without giving away your position by leaving your IR off. I would recommend highly.

I’m pretty impressed with this monocular. I’ve tested maybe half a dozen night vision binoculars and found them mostly excellent, but when I head out to the countryside I usually leave them behind because they’re just a little too bulky to carry on a hike. I ordered the Nightfox Cub monocular with my expectations low, hoping for the best but not expecting much, and I’m pleasantly surprised.

First, this monocular performs just as well as a much larger pair of binoculars. Sure, it’s a little less comfortable to use as the screen is quite small, and for the clearest view you have to get up close and close one eye, but it’s a fair tradeoff for the pocket sized design and the image is just as clear and bright as you’ll get in a larger consumer grade pair of goggles.

Best of all, though, is the rechargeable battery. You’ll get a good few hours of use between charges and it’s easily recharged from a power bank. I find that most larger goggles run on AAs (unless you spend a little more), so it’s a nice change to avoid the hassle of carrying spare batteries out to the middle of nowhere.

All in all I’m quite pleased. If I had someone else to carry my kit I’d go for a large pair of goggles, but this pocket sized gadget is a great option.

During the Winter months I like to go out at night and play night disc golf. We set up lights on the baskets and use glow-in-the-dark discs. I picked up this Nightfox monoscope for a couple of reasons. One, for safety. I like to scope out the park to make sure there aren’t any dangerous animals or people on the course. Two, for recording all the fun. I liked this monoscope as it’s small, lightweight, fits comfortably in the hand and works as advertised.

BOX: This kit comes with the monoscope, 18650 rechargeable battery, 32 GB memory card, charging cable, lanyard, protective case and instruction manual.

MONOSCOPE: Using the scope is easy and you can even use it during the day. It is digital so make sure your battery is charged. The battery life seems to be pretty good so far. It feels well built and is easy to operate with one hand. The buttons on the top are easy to reach. The two IR buttons help you get the monoscope orientation right and navigate the buttons in the dark. The viewfinder is large and easily covered my eye. On the bottom of the monoscope is a standard 1/4″ screw tripod mount. This was great for video taping my disc throwing technique at night. There’s also a ring on the monoscope that helps bring images into focus. Recharging the battery is easy to do by plugging in the standard C-type end into the monoscope and the other end into a standard USB port. My battery fully recharged in about 2 hours.

This monoscope worked as I expected it to, and overall I would recommend it. There are a few things to be aware of that some people may not like. The field of view is on the narrower side. Also, the zoom feature jumps incrementally – so it’s not a smooth zoom in and out. However, if you’re looking for a compact monoscope to see and record things at night, this Nightfox monoscope might work for you.

This came with an SD card, as well as everything else you need. The case is sturdy and will protect the device well.

The device is easy to use, and pretty self explanatory. I was able to figure it out very quickly without the instructions.

The image this produces is pretty clear and very easy to distinguish. The viewing screen is easy to view, and doesn’t require your eye be to the viewer.

The display information is easy to understand and clearly displays the condition of the device.

This is a great product and I can truly say that I recommend this for anyone that wants a good night vision device.

This is a decent little monocular and works pretty well for our needs. We like to go coyote hunting and they are a lot easier to find if you can do it in the dark. Everything is very easy to use and understand and its size is very easy to transport. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a night vision monocular for hunting our whatever night time activities you may be a part of.

This Nightfox cub is a compact and lightweight monocular. It provides clear night vision and a rechargeable USB slot. This product provides video coverage of anything you see with a 32GB memory card.
The Cub is perfect for watching wildlife on the go and for personal security. Uniquely portable and convenient, and weighing just 230g, you can take it anywhere. Take it camping or hiking! It is all around great monocular that. I would highly recommend this product!

This is a neat little infrared scope. It’s solidly built and simple in operation, and it’s a pocketable size. The manual is written in actual clear and correct English, which I find a tremendous relief from the mangled Chinglish so often seen in product manuals these days. The scope is powered by a rechargeable and removable 18650 battery, so you can use the scope’s built-in charger, and also bring along some replacement batteries if you’ll be using it for a long time.
As you may know, this isn’t a starlight night vision scope, AKA image intensifier device. Those devices work by amplifying whatever ambient light there is, so you can see even in dim starlight. This device uses an infrared LED light combined with an infrared-sensitive digital camera and view screen. The major difference is that with an infrared device, you can only see as far as your infrared light shines, while with image intensifier devices there’s no range limit. IR scopes like this one also have a narrow range of view, again because you can only see what the built-in IR flashlight illuminates. If this were a wide-beam light, it would require a lot more power.
One slightly annoying shortcoming of this scope is that the video resolution is only 640×480, and this fact isn’t mentioned anywhere in the manual; I had to get that information from a Q&A on the Amazon page.
But still it’s a good IR scope for the price.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersIn a way, this is more an infrared (IR) detector than a night vision scope. It works by projecting an IR beam. The reflections are displayed on a screen from a detector that is sensitive to both visible and IR light. This does not magnify light the way night vision scopes do in the movies, military or for hunting.

Note: the video that is part of this review was taken on a cloudy, moonless night. It was pitch black.

That still makes this terrifically useful. For example, if you hear a worrisome sound in your house or on your property at night, this scope will give you a clear view of what caused the noise — human or animal — without alerting either that it’s been spotted. I have to admit it was thrilling to go out back on a dark night where, since live in a rural area with no artificial lights at night, it was dark as a coal mine. I put the scope up to my eye, turned on the IR and suddenly I could see for at least 100 yards. I immediately saw a rampaging raccoon.

While the IR isn’t visible to humans or most animals, it is visible to others using IR sensitive equipment so this works well for normal civilian life but isn’t the kind of paramilitary equipment that many may automatically think when they hear night vision. I think it’s enjoyable to use and it does enhance personal as well as household safety by being able to see what’s there without them knowing you’ve got them located.

It beats randomly shining a flashlight around while shouting, “Who’s out there? Hello?” and then finding out the hard way what it was. It’s also a great non-threat situation tool to walk about seeing the many animals that come out at night.

My only issue is with the controls. They are small and closely arranged in a line. Even after hours of use, I kept hitting the wrong button. I mostly missed the On Video so I didn’t get images of the raccoons or opossums I wanted to get. Possums look particularly spooky under IR. Staggering these buttons would make for a much better control system at least to those who, like me, have overly large clumsy fingers.

Definitely a good purchase for campers, householders seeking greater safety and nature enthusiasts everywhere.

This Night’s vision device feels decently rugged. A micro sd card and a battery came with the package. It did not come fully charged when I got it. The charging time took about 2 hours and 30 minutes from 0 to 100 percent. I thought this would be like a monocular where you can see through both sides, but it is a digital screen. It has seven levels of brightness and a zoom level from 1 to 2 power. I would say that the max range this can properly perform would be around 150 yards depending on if you have a few obstacles in the way like brush or tree limbs that would get in the way of the IR light. I haven’t run the battery down to zero percent yet, but I think the battery life maybe a few hours or more. You can see the red light that is emitting from the IR night vision, but it probably doesn’t matter if you are using this to go hunting. The only problem I found with the IR night vision was a dead pixel on my screen. Other than that, this is an excellent product.

his is perfect. I got night vision glasses previously to use at night when my dog is running around like a dufus because he can’t sleep until he has had exercise. This is easier for me to use than the glasses and I can spot him easily.
