Really surprised with how much I like this little flute. My 9 year old daughter feels more comfortable playing this than the beginner flute we have. It weighs lighter and not as tiring for her. It is short enough that it puts her in a more comfortable position as well. Plus I love that it can be left out of the case for easy access. Which makes it easier to have her get excited to play.
I’m an adult beginner and I love this flute it’s brilliant. For me personally it’s much better than the nuvo toot as this layout resembles a real flute, it is extremely light with keys that plays down to a D note, and has the same lip attachments that’s included on the nuvo toot (first note lip plate and the standard flute lip plate). If a very young infant is interested in playing the flute the progression order is right to start off with the nuvo toot then this the JFlute then the next one up the student flute 2.0. This is really a fantastic instrument, it’s fun to play learn and progress I am really pleased with it. My goal from this, is to play my 3011E flute perfectly.
Update ….. Would have preferred the cleaning rod with the cleaning cloth (like you use to provide with the older flute model) instead of the piece of string and chain link attached to the cloth, because the string has detached itself from the cloth. Luckily for me this is not my 1st flute, so I have a rod but for new beginners it would be better to also provide a cleaning rod as well.
I haven’t picked up a flute since I was in marching band over ten years ago and this was the perfect way to get back into playing. The quality is amazing for being a plastic instrument. It feels very sturdy but it’s lightweight enough that I can hold it comfortably for hours. Which is good because you won’t want to put it down! The case is very nice and the little accessories work very well. The extra lip plate works very well not just for when you’re too lazy to have good posture but it helps when you want to quickly practice some fingerings without trying to make too much sound.
The only con is they don’t explain how to remove the key cap extensions so be very careful. The A & G caps simply slide to the left and detach, DONT try to snap them off. And the G# extension has a little notch that locks it in place, simply lift the little arm on it and it’ll slide off. I tried to include a picture to show what I mean. Also it would be nice if they had included some extra black silicone caps because once you take off the extensions there’s nothing to cover the keys with.
Overall I’m in love with this flute and would recommend it to everyone.
P.S I also bought the upgrade kit which is why I showed the second lip plate on the straight head joint. Buying the kit saved me money vs buying the student flute upfront, so it’s like I got two instruments for less
This plays as well or better than any of the student flutes I have owned. For my skill level it’s perfect. I owned a nuvo dood before and was not impressed with its playability or musicality but this thing is a real instrument and if I was a beginner or had a kid interested in trying flute , I think this one would get a lot of mileage before they needed an upgrade . Spending of upgrades I got the longer neck and the extension for the low c. That’s a must if you are not just goofing off. The upgrades fit perfectly in the very cool case it comes with too!
This is perfect for practice and outdoor marching. I’ve been playing a Gemeinhardt model 3 student flute for about four years and wanted an instrument for practice that was light and could hold up to rainy weather. The Nuvo Jflute arrived today and I played it for a couple of hours. Really enjoyed it! No, it’s not a concert quality instrument, but the sound is decent, the range is almost the same as my Gemeinhardt, and I love the compact size and can’t wait to use it in a parade. The keys operate very well and the silicone caps are quite comfortable. The hard carrying case is also satisfactory. Excellent for what it is meant to be!
It is so cute and light, and is similar enough to the real flute. I teach flute, and absolutely adore this product for 1st and 2nd graders. The light weight really helps. And it is sturdy (as opposed to delicate mechanism), so perfect for little clumsy kids!
I cannot believe the sound quality from this. I bought two for my beginning band students and would buy another in a heartbeat.
I have played the flute for many, many years, but lately have only gotten out my Gemeinhardt flute at Christmas time. Then I got this jFlute. My Nuvo jFlute is so rugged, and has such a wonderful tone, that I leave it out all the time and pick it up to play little tunes all the time. LOVE IT! The only problem I’ve had is when I bought the kit to make it full flute size, the foot joint does not go on right. The angle is wrong. Otherwise I highly recommend this to any flute player. Also, I have another jFlute that I am using to teach my granddaughter. She loves the alternate mouthpiece, while she is learning to make a sound with the regular mouthpiece.
Daughter (10 yo) is learning while we stay-at-home. Great instrument for young beginner.
