Veramente un grande acquisto
I’m a 5’7″ woman with a long back and I bought the M/L (48-56cm); it’s a good fit on my back, and has all the normal adjustments of shoulder strap length and chest strap position and length. Zips and zip pulls seem sturdy but time will tell. The mesh on the hip straps is a bit more substantial than I was expecting from other reviews, which is a good thing. It’s very light but the materials seem strong enough, and the whole thing can be cinched in quite flat if you’re not needing to carry much. It’s marketed as a cycling bag but I bought it for walking as it seemed to be one of the best 18L bags out there. Overall, I really like it, and will try to update this after it’s been tested a bit!
Viele Staumglichkeiten. Bequemer Sitz.
Wrde ihn jederzeit wieder kaufe
Excellent bag. Comfortable and holds a heap of stuff considering the size. Very well made. Your back will get sweaty but what bag doesn’t.
Great back pack but one thing lets it down the pocket on the shoulder strap says it holds a phone it dosent the i phones and latest samsung wont fit in dissapointing .
Well i bought this backpack for road biking, since i usualy drive enough to need some stuff with me, and i was impressed immediately. Its not heavy, breathes nicely and has practical pockets with lots of space. It is also very ergonomic.
It is great bag for day to day use. And with the hydraulics water tank, can’t feel it weight at all.
This is an awesome and very comfy backpack when not overloaded. It works well for day hikes. The back vents work very well
Osprey bags are always top quality and this no exception. It’s perfect for my commute to work by bicycle – that high vis rain cover is more than handy too!!
Looks smart around the office and has plenty of storage spaces too.
Fantastic bit of kit! Swallows everything I need for a day in the saddle!
Had it for a while now and it’s very versatile and tough
Fit perfectly. Just big enough to hold enough gear for the day
Small is very small but it is big enough to carry what you need for a day long hike. Snacks, first aid kit, etc.
Just big enough for a change of clothes, a pack towel and some lunch. Perfect for the cycle commute.
I also recently used it as a handy holiday bag.
Great pack! Held fours days worth of clothing and traveling needs and then was loaded with additional books on the return trip. Can put a hydration bladder in it, and the waist and chest straps are helpful. I can’t speak to hiking, but as a travel pack it is surprising in what it holds and loads up quite a lot.
I am 171cm tall, ~70kg and i ordered the ML size.
The size perfectly fits and this bag is amazing!!! The size, the features… just a great day bag.
The only things i wish were different:
1. The small pocket attached on the shoulder strap isn’t very useful since within time the smartphone just because bigger. I wish they changed it to the pocket just like in the old version of Escapist 30 which is smaller and i used it for holdign keys.
2. Even though this bag is relatively small, i wish it had the Lower Compartment Zip which splits the main compartment.
All in all, this is an awesome bag.
Almost perfect. I love almost everything about this bag pack – the size, how light and comfortable and good looking it is.
The only less good thing about it are the zipless pockets which stretch out but do not go back and just stay hanging which makes it look shabby…
I use it all the time on day hikes. Travel with it for short weekend trips too – good carry on bag. Perfect size, excellent quality
Came as described. Will work very well for day hikes and travel bag. Could have found it at a better price in a couple of outdoor stores which really surprised me so be ware it is not always cheaper on line.
Sehr hochwertiger Rucksack.
This bag is awesome. Quality construction. Lightweight. If there’s any drawback its that there’s no way you could fill this bag with enough stuff to warrant the hip straps. I just cut them away. Great day bag.
exactly the size I was looking for. It’s my day to day bag and also done the occasional day hike. No issues with it.
Super Rucksack. Bietet genug Platz. Sitzt sehr bequem.
Love this osprey bag. It’s a prefect size for a day pack. I’m 5’2 female and it fits great. My go to pack.
I’m using this bag to go travelling with and so far everything is perfect, it’s being used as a day bag and not only is it extremely easy to secure everything but the compartment for your camel pack is the right size! 10/10
Extremely well built and the design speaks for itself. Made with hikers in mind. I highly recommend this produc
Truly the best bag you can get for the money. This thing does it all, super comfortable, sleek, lightweight, versatile, tons of pockets. The material is built extremely well and looks really sleek and smart no matter what the environment. Get one and see for yourself.
great backpack, light and is able to carry a lot of stuff. only drawback is I wish the pocket on the strap was a little larger to be able to hold an iphone.
This backpack is exactly what I needed for day hiking. I wanted something small and comfortable, which this is and I can easily reach my water bottles while hiking (I don’t use water pouches because they always leak!). I have used several different backpacks and this one is the best and most comfortable.
Excellent day pack in general and is perfect for hiking and biking. I also take this when traveling to use as a day pack. I got the Osprey 2L hydration bladder for it and it fits perfectly and the pack feels pretty much empty when carrying around 1L of water.
Great pack. Very useful and perfect as an extra carry on. After cutting off the waist straps, its perfect. Holds more than you would think.
Great everyday pack. I ended up cutting off the part that attached around your waist. The included rain cover is nice as well.
Awesome comfy Osprey backpack! Straps are excellent, the waterproof cover works nicely (as expected) and there areh loads of pockets for everything! The real bonus of this backpack is the included waterproof cover which are around 15-20 pounds.
I’ve used the pack on a few hikes, with 2L water bladder, and it works great! I also use it as a bike commuting pack daily and the helmet clip is wonderful. Lightweight, back breaths nicely (but I’m also not a very sweaty guy), but after a hilly Seattle bike commute, my back is wet as expected though. Chest pocket is useless for a phone, but does just barely fit my sunglasses in it.
Pros: -Detachable rain cover (also it’s neon yellow/green which is nice for visibility purposes)
– Helmet clip
– Protected sunglass/phone pocket
– Main compartment fits everything I need ( 32oz water bottle, which also fits in the side mesh pockets, bike pump, extra layers, lunch for work)
– Secondary pocket is nice for smaller things, organizer for keys/wallet/hex wrench and more.
Cons: – Would have liked the back support to be a little more sturdy (I was torn between buying this pack and the comparable sized Manta AG, but got this pack for half of the price and it is definitely worth getting a little hotter for half the price)
– Chest pocket functionality is minimal
Bought this as a replacement for one of the cheap copies you can buy here on Amazon which only lasted a year so only time can tell if this is better in that way. From the construction and the way it is put together and the little touches I think so. A lot more comortable than any backpack I have used before. Three seperate compartments for various things and I like the little touches such as the holder for keys. The top compartment is good for sunglasses and I love the little pocket on the left strap so I can store my phone (it is a little snug and its a Samsung Galaxy S7). The lidlock is so easy to use and does the job perfectly. There are lots more attachments, pockets etc which I havent tried yet but Im sure they will all be of the same standard. The best backpack I have bought to date.
Just the right size for day hike in country or city.
Just spent two weeks in Africa using this as a :day pack for camera gear and other small items (e.g. ponch, first aid kit, snacks). Worked perfectly. I much prefer the Escapist packs (I also have the 25L) over similar REI packs.
My favorite hiking/cycling/everyday Osprey pack. I have tried a few Osprey packs and returned them (mostly from REI). Great organization, I love the helmet clip, I put my headphones in the chest pocket. It’s a small pack but it works great for my needs, for day use, short bike rides, or even hikes around 8 hours.
My first Osprey pack and I’m liking it so far. I love the the bike packing features (helmet holder etc…) and weight of the pack. Almost got the Escapist 32, but I figured if I got a bigger pack I’d take more gear. Great pack for the price and highly recommend this pack.
his day pack is awesome, fits more than you would think, ultra light weight and very easy to use.
I have the day lite pack and was looking for a similar with just a tab bit more space, this fits the bill. I have only used it a couple of times, but I’m happy. My only issue is that I did not use the hip belt and was trying to find a way to hide the straps and was unsuccessful. Other than that, it’s just right for me.
Great backpack. I have quite a few and this is the best for day walks. If you want some this a bit bigger there is a 25l version
Update – 2 years later
Still going strong. Used it many times. Ideal size as a day pack. The waterproof cover has proved very useful (built in).
Best day bag yet. The back suspension system is made very well. Of course, I sweat while I ride my bike, but my shirt does not get soaked! The price is for both the bladder and the bag. The bladder alone is worth $30. So the price is worth it! I live in chicago and I commute everyday. This bag has good deep pockets. The main pocket can fit a rain jacket, rain pants, sweater sweat pants extra shirt. Yes, I packed all that to a work out class. It was raining too. The middle pockets has 2 mini pockets and a main pocket. So sweet! There are two water bottle side pockets in each side of the bag. They hold water bottles very well! I rode 3 miles home and they didn’t fall out! I really enjoy the extensions on the zippers.
Love this backpack. Well made and very light. Beautiful design. I have 4 Ospreys and would recomend them 100%
Was everything I needed for cycling or running top bag
Love this backpack for my commute to work. I bike around 10 miles each way and it is comfortable and breathable on my back. I carry a change of clothes, charging cord carriers, occasional notepad, and everyday electronics with ease. The top pocket it nice to hold your phone where headphones can come out the top zipper if left undone slightly. I do not have a hydration pack so I cannot comment on that but the rain pouch looks to work well (doesn’t rain much in California so I haven’t been able to test other than wrapping it around the pack). The pockets separate items so they are easy to grab.
Only complaint would be the little pouch on the strap doesn’t really hold anything, but it stays pretty flat when nothing is inside of it.
Overall, the straps are comfortable, the pack is light and seems to be sturdy (nothing wrong after constant commute usage so far), and fits a large amount while being small enough to comfortably use on a bike. Highly recommend. The price is worth what you receive.
Used this for a trip to Europe as my personal carry on bag. While the bag isn’t large it carries a lot and is very versatile. I really liked it.
This has been my favorite travel bag for my everyday needs. From day hikes to walks through the city, it has everything I need.
Like everything from Osprey, this is great. Lots of reflectivity, lots of space, and the internal storage is helpful without being over the top. Wish the hip belt was detachable, but otherwise a perfect biking backpack.
This review is for the Osprey Escapist 18 backpack. I haven’t had a chance to put it through a lot of use yet, but since there’s no review for this particular one I figured I’d try and get my first impressions out there to hopefully help others looking at this one. Overall it seems like a really well constructed backpack. I haven’t found any quality control issues so far, and all zippers work smoothly. All white markings on the bag are reflective. Depending on how much weight you put in the bag I’m worried that the ventilation cut outs on the part that rests against your back will become compressed decreasing ventilation… but then again it’s not a big bag so I’m not so sure you will even want “heavy” loads.
I’ll structure this review by going over each compartment/feature and giving my impressions (if any).
First up is the hydration pouch.. It’s open on the top and located between the back panel and the main storage compartment. It has a clip at the top, and runs the entire width and height of the bag. As the top is always open you can run your hose out any part of it, but there’s no way to have it exit anywhere else.
Next is the shoulder straps. They’re made with mesh on both sides and foam with lots of holes cut into it so I’d image they will have good ventilation. On both sides there are elastic loops (presumably to attach gear/secure your hydration hose) and one less-elastic loop further down that has reflective material on it. On the left strap there’s a small pouch which can just BARELY fit my iPhone 6s (not Plus) without a case. I think would be useful for maybe a cliff bar or something similar or perhaps a small point and shoot camera. Underneath the pouch is the adjustment “rail” for the chest strap.
On the top there’s a smallish compartment located between the main compartment and the hydration pouch area. I assume this is for commonly accessed things so you don’t have to dig around in the “big” compartment for stuff. For my purposes I think it’d be a great spot to put another camera lens or snacks. It is zipper opening.
Not much to say on the main compartment… it’s bag like. No real features to speak of, just empty space. It may be worth mentioning that the two additional compartments (the previous one and the raincover compartment) use up main compartment space. The zipper opening on this compartment opens up about halfway down the length of the bag.
Between the bike helmet holder (which I can’t comment on as I own neither a bike or a bike helmet – though I will mention you can adjust how far from the bag the holder is (to an extent)) and the Osprey logo is the opening for an additional compartment which contains two mesh pockets about 5″ wide x 6″ tall on the right and left side, and in the middle there are two elastic bands (see picture). Additionally, there’s a plastic clip (probably for keys).
A little further down on the outside (the section that has the big Osprey logo and “ESCAPIST 18″) is a stretchy compartment that’s open at the top. Even further down is the raincover compartment. The raincover is removable if you need the space for something else.
On both sides are what I assume are water bottle holders. They’re made of the same stretchy fabric as the last paragraph. I don’t have a ton of water bottles to experiment with here, but it fits my 20oz Hydro Flask just fine. There’s also compression straps on both sides which can be run over these pouches or under them. Mine came one over and one under (which I assume is so that you know it’s an option… I probably wouldn’t have noticed otherwise).
Keep in mind this isn’t a very large backpack and you won’t be able to fit a ton of stuff in here. I wasn’t looking for a big backpack… I wanted something to go on day-hikes, hold an extra lens or two for my camera plus a first aid kit and some snacks. This will hold all that and then some more. I think it’ll be great for why I bought it, and as I get more use out of it I’ll update the review with any issues that may arise (or if it continues to be great I’ll update it reflecting that as well).
Update: So far so good, I’ve use it on a couple hikes and it worked really good. The ventilation along the back wasn’t the best but it was far better than my old Camelbak. Additionally, it was really stable during the hike and didn’t shift around much at all. I’ve also used it as a carry on while flying and it fit well under 737 coach seats fine. I put my 13” MacBook Pro in the hydration pouch area and it fit fine, but wasn’t very easy to insert and remove.
