This will be my third Panasonic combination microwave oven since 2003 and they cook great and are very energy efficient. They have some really good cooking modes and easy to use. I have always found Panasonic ovens to be reliable and long lasting and I would recommend them to anyone.

This is my third panasonic combi, my first lasted a dozen years or so, was not slimline but had the oven element at the back and I did all my bread baking in it along with all the normal stuff. After the turntable failed I bought my first slimline. Sadly only has a roof element to make it slimline so could no longer bake bread as the top grilled black under convection. Lasted just over two years when it blew all my ground floor electrics as a result of a microwave meal producing too much steam. Bought this same model as a replacement (because it does brilliant bake potatoes) and just hope it lasts longer than the last!

I bought this to replace a 30yr old Belling Combi microwave in the hope the Panasonic will last as long!
It really is a very good replacement, simple to use, easy to clean, and comes with an excellent manual.
    Highly recommended.

This is 2nd convector/microwave by Panasonic ive owned. 1st lasted years, so good value. I have every faith this will do the same. Easy to view inside, easy to use controls and I’m a senior!

This is the third combi oven that I have had. It is the biggest and best designed. It easily takes a 4 pint casserole and has many combi programmes. I cook in this more than my main oven and use it daily.

Nice convection/microwave/grill oven but the mains cable is far too short if the mains socket is on the far side (and slightly forward of) where the cable is connected. I cannot place it where the old unit was but have had to place it at an angle. It copes like that but is less than ideal. Why such a short mains cable Panasonic?

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis Microwave can do it all, The Auto programmes i have used this far, have turned out perfectly, cooked a Jacket Potato and it was every bit as tasty as an oven cooked one, and done in only 12 minutes, with a crispy skin, Also a medium cooked roast beef joint, was just perfectly cooked, something i have never really managed in our gas cooker with regular success. With it being a 1000w microwave, food heats up a lot faster, and something like a pasty etc, the pastry is yes of course soggy but not as overcooked as when using our old 800w microwave. I would say if you can afford it, its a worthwhile investment, as you can Grill, Microwave, Convection or a combination of these methods. And for some things like a quick jacket potato will save you a lot of time, and some money on energy bills at the moment.

All in all a good product. I had a previous model the NN-CT756 that lasted 15 years. This model the
NN-CT54JW is very similar but nowhere as well built. It is more tinny and looks cheaper. But I guess that’s now the way of things. There is only one interior wire stand and tray the previous model had two of each at different heights.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought these ovens to replace the previous Panasonic Combination Microwave Ovens in my kitchen. They are very easy to use, I use them every day both for microwave, and combination cooking. I can cook a roast chicken depending on the size, with the oven/microwave setting in 35 to 40 minutes. Roast potatoes 15 minutes on microwave then 20 minutes at 220 perfect. I use them in preference to my main oven, as the oven size is smaller so gets to temperature quicker.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersThis replaces a Sharp which gave sterling service for 29 years but which the bulb has been tempermental during the past year. The Panasonic internal dimensions are almost the same in each 3 vertices to within half a cm of the Sharp, which was the main reason I chose this Panasonic. The external dimensions however are smaller due to different fan technology. The Panasonic heat output from the fan must somehow escape to underneath the over for it is far warmer at the worktop than our old microwave.

Good thing is Panasonic is 150W up on our old Sharp but other aspects not as convenient. The keyboard is difficult to Read in any light; the digital display is difficult to read during dayulight hours. The lime colour of this display appears significant dimmer than Sharp’s turquoise digit colouring and also fraction smaller.

When the Sharp it defaults to microwave if you do not choose the function which is how we prefer a microwave to be because we all use this function more than any other. But Panasonic you have to select the function first even if you are choosing microwave. Why ? Why couldn’t desinger put in microwave as default function.

So far between our members of the family we ahve tried microwave (of course), grill, oven, combination overn, ant not combination grill yet. We are happy to report it all works.

29 years on with cut backs, we don’t get any laminated card “cheat-sheet” to remind us how to use the functions. The instruction booklet is not much better as font is too small and is in A5. Why not A4 ? Without the reminder, the booklet is already being covered with oily finger marks.

The grill stand is flimzy. The revolving plate is made of glass. Must be due to cost that it is made of glass because when using oven and or grill whether woth combination, the booklet warns you should use the metal tray. I presume one of the function of the tray is to absorb the heat instead of the glass taking it all. This is why we have kept the ceramic revolving plate which is especially useful for cooking pizzas.

It is a small matter to most people but I especially like the microwave covered in white, which more matches out cream coloured kitchen. I particularly do not want a stainless stell coloured kitchen equipment as it reminds me too much of commercial galleys and kitchens I have to inspect on exploration crews.

Externally it is easy to clean but the internal faces are less so as by necessity there are plenty of holes for grilling and for oven. Therefore it is imperative to use covering when using microwave to prevent the splashes getting inside the holes.

It is decent value but if the rotating plate was made of ceremic material , then it would be good value.

Apart from the panel this looks identical to the one being replaced that died after 13years hard work. Works very well but is a bit complicated because there are a lot of ‘auto’ selections and can be a bit noisy compared with its predecesso

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis microwave is good value and easy to use. It is not as quick to cook as smaller microwaves of the same power output. Timer increments in 10 seconds. It would be nice to increment in 5 seconds.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersHave had this for 2 years. Only me here, used every couple of days.

First, glass turntable cracked right across when in use. Had not been dropped or chipped. Expensive to replace, as Panasonic has its own custom lock shape for turntable.

Second, prone to making groaning noises when turntable is moving. Has done this since new.

Thirdly, occasionally takes a very long while to hit temperature when using fan oven.

Then today, pressed button to retrieve meal. Button pressed, door refuses to open…

In summary, it works when it works, poor quality overall. I would not buy another, going to go back to Sharp – at least theirs last for more than a couple of years without issue.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersBought so I did not have to run my range cooker all summer & because now I am on my own I cook smaller portions. I spent a good deal of time looking at the different models. This one seemed to be the most liked by other customers and with the manual being there on the page to download I could have a look through to see how complicated it might be.
I am so glad I bought it. You do need the manual to help you especially with the combination cooking if you have not done it before. I have never had a manual so clear and thorough. The grill works really well and you have a bacon sandwich in minutes 🙂 I have made muffins using the convection oven, baked pies, fish etc just as you would in a big oven. The combination convection/microwave makes a difference to the time needed to cook items. A chicken curry from scratch with all fresh ingredients takes a lot less time & comes out very well cooked & tasty. Of course, baked potatoes are no problem.
I still refer to the manual and will for some time but am so happy with it and highly recommend.

Golden Review Award: 29 From Our UsersThis combination microwave oven is very good but in a slightly wham bam thank you ma’am way. I had an older Panasonic that was very genteel to use It was just a large standard microwave. This as a replacement by comparison was a loud buzzing wering whooshing monstrosity. But technically it is very proficient. It’s a strange hybrid in that it’s not really a proper oven but for day-to-day use it’s somewhat better. Basically it oven bakes smaller things wonderfully, having the heat mainly from the top is superb for crisping up smaller things, small cuts of meat smaller baked goods. I found the unit particularly good for roasting or grilling seeds and nuts which came out beautifully. I don’t think this is very much of a negative but because it is a convection oven, in order to stay cool it has many more and louder fans. Even when just using the microwave there is massive wooshing and and fan noise even after you finish cooking. Technically the oven was excellent the temperature was absolutely bang on for the convection oven, the clever reduction of microwave power is much better than the old fashioned way of low being just full power for a few seconds every minute. Mine did develop a potential fault basically the turntable seemed to be slightly jerky as it turned. I don’t know if there was some fault or it just was an effect of the friction of the rollers that would stick for a little bit and then jerk around a little faster. After consulting Panasonic and taking their advice, I returned the unit because if I’m investing in a major purchase I wish to get many years of long use out of it. Anyway I decided not to rebuy the item. I realised that I personally didn’t or don’t use the oven function very much. Secondly heating elements are behind a grill so they are impossible to clean, I had the same thing with an old Panasonic grill microwave I had years ago once you get oil splatters behind the grill, your microwave tends to stink forever more of burnt grease. But I think you can prevent this if you’re careful with splattering. Anyway I chose instead a standard conventional microwave only and to be honest I like the peace of it. The fans are much quieter and don’t go on forever. That said I have a lot of respect for the original combination microwave I tried. It all depends on the type of food that you eat. If you like breaded meats pies and other baked goods it’s absolutely fantastic. One reviewer said it’s a lonely man’s dream and that’s my position it is actually a pretty great device. Wishing everyone the very best.

Brilliant bit of kit. All functions work well and very user friendly. The reason for taking a star off is that mine makes some strange noises when using the oven which is a bit obtrusive. Cooks perfectly though!

Update: Noises have stopped so 5stars!

This microwave does EVERYTHING. I particularly like the CHAOS Defrost function, for the times I forget to take something from the freezer. You just input the type of food and it’s weight and this oven works out the defrost time.

Downsides? Sadly a couple. The oven is so lightweight, it slides across my work surface when either programming it, or closing the door. Also, as pointed out by others, the heating bars in the roof of this microwave are very fierce. I can no longer bake bread on the convection setting. It just burns the top of whatever I am baking.

footprint than a typical combination microwave oven.
    – bought as a replacement (and upgrade) from a blown lone microwave oven.
    – attracted to this by its smaller footprint.
    – Easy set up
    – Easy to follow manual (well written and in detail)
    – got it working (ie heating a cup of tea) within 10 minutes out of the box.
    – tested the convection oven, works a treat
    – definitely quieter than a typical microwave.
    – easy to clean
-downside: none of my ovenware fits so will need to buy a smaller set.

This oven is more than my needs as a single person. I wanted a cooker that did more than just heat up traditional microwave meals. This unit with its grill and convection plus microwave does all that and more. I did find that the pre-programed settings were more than I needed. Now that I have become used to it I can cook a meal quickly without having to use multiple appliances.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI had the previous version of this model for a few years and quite happy with it. I thought it had developed a fault with the convection oven. I bought a thermostat which confirmed the cooking temperatures were off beam. I decided to replace it with the newer model and offer the, still mainly working, machine to my student nephew.
The new Panasonic is essentially the same but with a few added tricks, however, I find there is still an issue with convection cooking, unless I am doing something wrong. When pre-heating with the old model, the “Ready” alarm would sound although my cooking themometer was well below the target, so I would wait until the themometer showed the desired level. When cooking, the temperature was not constant and kept rising, so a pie re-heating at 190F after 20 minute wasalmost at 250F.
The new machine is just the same except now, when pre-heating to 190F, the oven, according to my thermostat reached 220F before “Ready” and still continues to rise during cooking.
I have tested my thermmostat in a pan of boiling water and it’s spot on.
As a single “No-cook” male, I do rely heavily on the Cobination Microwave, Grilling and Microwaving are fine, but for anything more ambitious -like heating a pie – I’m not convinced it can be trusted.

Edit: Er, I think I have been comparing degrees F on the thermostat with degrees C on the oven. Perhaps explains why the food has been a “tad” undercooked/overcooked. Also means I have probably disposed of a perfectly good Microwave. Cooking, laundry are shopping are not my best skills.
