I have took a star off as yet unknown, what the battery life will be and whether it is waterproof, the only thing I would say is that it was fiddly was putting in the tiny screws in to clamp for spikes ,this was way to fiddly, this part of the device would have been better molded on and part of device,
this would of then held spike in place .without any screws .
On a plus note my cats have not been on the garden since putting these in ,so result.

This little product is quite amazing. It was a bit of a fiddle to assemble, several small screws are needed to close the battery cover and attach the ground spike.
All fitted together with batteries installed it was time to deploy the new weapon in my anti cat arsenal.
I feel should explain the situation that was prevailing in my garden, we had cats from every house in the street; one house rehomed cats for the cat protection league, very often housing 12 cats. There was cat poo in the flower beds and on the gravel drive, but not just an odd pile or two, my garden was the local cat toilet. We could not move in garden without encountering cat poo!!
Choosing carefully I turned the sensitivity and frequency up to half way, placed one deterrent in the garden and one on the drive. the effect was amazing…. overnight things changed, not one cat has entered my garden since the two units were installed. I have even noticed a cat turning sharp left to avoid it’s habitual route through my garden. I am so pleased with the results of the Cat-o-cuter I would recommend it to anyone suffering from cat invasion. It is a most excellent product.

Very effective against cats. I was somewhat of a sceptic until I discovered how good they are. We have not been bothered with cats since the scares were activated. However they do not seem to have any effect against squirrels. I now intend to purchase a pair of a later model, and will review them at a later date. The batteries are still working, after three months.

Have only seen one cat in the garden since these were strategically placed some weeks back. As they regularly used the garden before it seems to be an improvement. Hoping it is not just the bad weather keeping them away but I don’t think so as it doesn’t change during warmer, dryer spells. Doesn’t seem to have much effect on bird life which is good. It also doesn’t seem to have much effect on our garden mouse which we don’t mind, but a visiting rat didn’t stay long – we have wildlife cameras so see these things.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have just received my order of these. On opening the box’s, I took out the instructions. These provided no information at all, apart from how to mount the units etc. There was more of an instruction sheet here on the Amazon site. I think that the company selling these items should definitely upgrade their instruction sheets.

    What Instructions

Put the cat ‘scarer’ in the garden as instructed. There were 3 lots of cat ‘pooh’ on the grass at the time. I removed the piles of pooh and waited to see what happened after the installation of ‘scarer’. I had another pile of cat pooh within 3 days which was deposited some distance from the site of the ‘scarer’ so I moved the ‘scarer’ to a different place in the garden as it suggests the motion sensor is at least 6″ above the level of the ground and my garden has a slight slope. Since this time which, which is approximately now 2 weeks I have not had any little deposits on the grass. I bought 2 repellent machines so am now going to install the other one in the front garden as I still get visits from cats with occasional deposits. I hope I have the same successful results. I can recommend this device as it appears to be working on my unwelcome garden visitors!

Being the owner of a couple of furry moggys I’ve never had any issues with them leaving any brown nuggets in our garden. This however recently changed when we gave our garden an overhaul and decided to lay some artificial grass for the kids to play on. Did some of the work myself and it looked mint. Shortly after, one of the little furbags must have also decided that she liked the feel of the grass on her @rse and decided to start leaving her Mr Whippys on it. As you can imagine I wasn’t happy about this and didn’t enjoy getting home from work and having to scoop her brown parcels up from the grass before the kids could play on it. So first thing I tried was the trusty hosepipe on her, although funny it did not do the trick, then tried some cat spray stuff and again nearly melted my eyes whilst spraying it but didn’t keep her at bay so finally saw this product on Amazon.
Was very dubious as didn’t think they would work but I was wrong. From the 1st day of setting these bad boys up there has not been a single log laid. BOOYA. Now into the 2nd week and still nothing. I’m not sure if they have found another place to drop anchor in poo bay or if they are just storing it up and will explode all over my front room at some point but these gadgets do defo work. 5 Stars. Happy days. #logfreegarden.

These have made a big improvement to my mental health.
A neighbourhood cat was depositing its mess every day on the new lawns of our new house, and these have broken that habit. I needed to shift the position slightly, adjust the frequency and power, but now a disgusting problem has discontinued completely. Worth every penny.
Note to cat owners: please check where your cat is dumping its poo, especially as they don’t seem to bury it anymore for some reason.

We.moved into a house after renovation. We were plagued by cats using the garden as their toilet choice. I read the reviews and was very skeptical
We bought 4 (yes it was that bad) and after 4 weeks since installation there has been no sign of any cats, nor their residue.
So we are very happy with them, you occasionally see the lights and hear a slight ticking noise, when in the garden, to it is really a small price to pay.
Great value, easy to set up and install, we worth trying

These are great, neighbours cat obviously doesnt like them, score!! Initially we put them in the, at present, empty veg patch where it always poos, after a couple of days it outrageously decided to pooh on the
Lawn instead. I was fuming. It was no doubt jumping up and down with glee!! So we then put one in the veg patch and one on the lawn.
That seems, so far to have done the job!!
Haha, bad luck you smelly beast.
Keep out of our garden, and leave my wild birds alone too.

Do they work. Well we have not seen any new foxes. Are there any foxes about? Normally always with new ones setting up new routes and digging holes in the lawn each spring What are they for? To keep foxes away so that they don’t catch our happy but deaf 20year old cat who used to live in fear of them having been chased in through his cat flap. Then he could out run them now he has a limp. Very sad!

Very pleased with the cat repeller. It is certainly cheaper than some simular products but surprising effective. We have been annoyed for several months by daily visits from cats leaving deposits, even covering flower beds with chicken wire
they still leave their deposits on top of this . Since setting up the deterent, only once in the last 6 weeks has there been any soiling. Maybe that cat is deaf! Would recommend this product, fast delivery a bonus.

We were fed up with a neighbor’s cat fouling in our driveway garden and near the compost bin at the rear but once we position the ultrasonic cat scarer at each area in the summer the fouling stopped, which proves this pest deterrent does what it says on the tin. I haven’t seen the cat wandering onto our property for months now. It’s a definite yes from me.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersI bought these to deter neighbouring cats from scaring the birds in my aviary. After a couple of weeks use, I can definitely say that the cats visit far less often, and don’t stick around long when they do. One particular cat has walked/sat right in front of them, but I still say THEY WORK and are worth at least 4 stars. I’ll explain…

I understand the bad reviews – if you’re buying these, then you have a problem you want to eradicate, but remember what they actually do: They emit a loud, annoying, uncomfortable noise. This does not cause animals pain, of course not!, so if they can tolerate it, they will stay. However if you have it set to the frequency that the animal finds sufficiently loud, annoying and uncomfortable enough to leave, then they will leave. This might take some trial and error.

    Other variables include:
    – Just like people, some animals’ hearing is better than others / some animals are more nervous than others (my cat disappeared from the room whilst I was fitting the batteries and the frequency was only set to 1).
    – The reach is impressive, but the further away the animal is, the quieter the noise will be – positioning additional units at entry points may help.
    – If the animal stops moving, the noise stops until they move again. It might take some time for them to catch on that being in this area is just not worth the awful racket.

In my case, getting the positioning right took a few days and I still don’t think I’ve found the perfect frequency to completely deter the cat I most want to, but nevertheless I have noticed a big difference.

    Other pros:
    – Turning the sensitivity right down (until it won’t go any further) pretty much turns it ‘off’.
    – Can be mounted to a fence/wall/tree.
    – Waterproof, frost proof.
    – AA batteries can be picked up cheaply (and are certainly more reliable than solar power oop ere in Yorksher).
    – The blue light upon activation lets you know it’s working even if you cannot hear it yourself.
    – Doesn’t seem to bother birds at all – this was a big concern for me. I also found a hedgehog shuffling in front of it one evening (although that’s not proof they are not at all deterred by them, as above)
    – Great value.

    Cons:
    – The suggested frequencies for deterring different species are NOT included – refer back to the listing and write them down on the leaflet for future reference.
    – When I mounted this on a tree (one cat enters my garden from my garage roof), branches blowing in the wind set it off, so I had to move it to avoid draining the batteries.
    – As some other reviewers found, the battery plate screws did not go all the way, despite the plate being completely flush with the unit, so may rust in time.
    – May upset dogs/children very close by.

    Possible cons:
    – The screws for the stake are very fiddly (but once it’s on, it’s on).
    – Battery life as yet unknown. I have the sensitivity set quite high so I’m expecting it to be a little poor.

In summary, these do exactly what they say they do, but be aware they aren’t ‘plug & play’, you need to set them up just right to get the best results.

If you have a large area to cover or REALLY want to make an area unattractive to a problem animal, buy a bunch of them and create a total no-go zone! Get the frequency right and it will work.

Cats and foxes seem to under the impression that our garden is a public toilet so bought these. To be honest i wasnt expecting them to work but at 25 for 2 i figured it was worth a go.

It took 2 nights for the foxes to get the hint but they havent been back since and the cats that passed through our garden started to take the scenic route along the wall at the back but didnt stop however it took 2 weeks for the really stubborn cats who were using the garden as a giant litter tray to decide they prefered the neighbours garden. Still get the occasionally pile left from the cat next door but on the whole im really happy with my purchase and have recommended them to neighbours.

My new neighbours brought two cats with them and the cats quickly chose my front garden as a toilet. (There is a large contingent of cats in the neighbourhood, and at times its like living in Longleat, but thankfully they never gave me a problem. However, things had changed and I was determined to end the problem).
I purchased a pair of Pestbye Cat Repellants and almost immediately the problem went away. I was “Gobsmacked” how effective the Cat Repellants had been. From my experience, I would certainly recommend this product.

Works a treat, scared off night visiting cats.
    + easy to set up
+ love the size and design
+ seen a difference instantly as cats run off once they walk into the sonic zone
I’ve seen all the night visitors do a swift U-turn and leave garden quickly.

    – my only criticism is the controls have no notes or tips on what volume and frequency settings are best etc.
Can manufacturer advise or create a pdf on a web page advising.

Otherwise I’m very happy with it.

So my last 1 of something similar has lasted ages, but even with new batteries isn’t responding well. So have bought this set which seemed reasonable value. Weatherproof, providing you fit the rubber and screw the plastic down well. Battery life depends on how much it is activated. (So best turn down if you are in front of it a lot!).

Received the item which is well packaged in two boxes. Small instruction sheet but it is adequate.
Assembly Is a bit fiddly with tiny screws that are quite difficult to put in place.
I only assembled the units yesterday and have one unit on the grass which is the preferred toilet location of local cat.
I have hung the other from the fence. At this point I have no clue as to their efficiency but the sensor is working as a blue light comes on whenever I pass it by.
Since I have tried various sprays, powders etc that are on the market this was a somewhat more expensive last resort.
I do have high hopes of the product though based on other reviews

Bought this and was very sceptical, however they do actually work. I no longer have cats fouling on my lawn and they go around the area that is covered by these sensors. I have realised that the cats are no longer fouling in the area covered but are now doing it in an area that is not covered – so they are persistent fouler and the issue has just been moved to another area which I will manage accordingly.

The only negative I have is that they take 4 batteries and since having them I have replaced them twice so it can get expensive with batteries replacement. also the screw to open the battery compartment is very bad quality and will round the screw heads after a few more battery changes.

However they do actually work for cats

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersBought two and installed one in the front lawn (this is the cat poo problem area) and one in the back garden. It’s been 1 week and no poo on the front lawn Yay! I’ve seen the cats in the back garden but they tend to walk at the perimeter or just outside of the sensor area. Not sure how long the batteries are going to last, bought Duracell Industrial. Also, hoping the sensor in the front lawn doesn’t get pinched. It’s placed discretely so not so noticeable during the day, but the blue sensor light is very bright at night. Happy for now and I’ll do an up date in a few months.

    Update 10/11/2019

The one placed in the front garden has been stolen by a THIEVING B*****D but up to yesterday it was working great. No cat poo on the front lawn from the day I installed it. I still have the one in the rear garden which wasn’t a poo area and the cats still came in but they tended to stay at the perimeter. So the dilemma I have, is whether to move the one in the back to the front and risk it being stolen again by the ROTTEN STINKING THIEVING B******S . I’ll monitor the front for now just to see if the cats start using it again as their toilet. A CURSE ON ALL THIEVES

Phenomenal device! It scared away the cats who were pooing in my garden, it’s super sensitive, it can be tuned & attenuated, the battery seems to just keep on going, and yes it’s absolutely weatherproof. One tiny downside is that fitting new batteries will be a bit of a faff with several tiny screws to remove but that’s a small price to pay for such a great piece of equipment. Recommended completely.

Used in my garden for cats and fox pests which was a daily occurrence. Did not think I would ever get rid of them, this was my last hope especially for the cats. Had an immediate effect it appeared so left it a bit longer before writing this review. Been about 4 weeks at least and now seen the cats walk on top of buildings in other people’s garden or on top of my fence but never come into my garden so far. Not seen the fox either. Have to keep an eye on the batteries, worth getting very good batteries. Easy to use I have one on the fence and one placed in the soil kind of diagonally to each other as I have quite a large space garden. Gave 4 stars due to length of time of having them but so far so good.

I bought two of these items hoping to prevent neighbors cats using my front garden as a toilet. The effect was immediate, they moved to next doors, but heyho.
My new neighbors arrived with two cats which sorted out my mice problems but quess what. I purchased a second pair and they are working. When the plants in my rockery retreat for the winter I will buy another two.
I would recommend using good quality batteries, they each use 4 lr6 and vary in the life span.

Firstly I was sceptical these would work, but after setting up we have had NO more cats straying onto the lawn to defecate, previously this was a daily occurrence so I’m impressed.

We have a young daughter that likes to play in the garden so this was becoming a real issue. Since installing we have noticed cats sitting on the wall directly behind the sensor, but not in front.

As for the noise , I started off hearing it when walking past but now it’s barely noticeable and a small price to pay to keep evil cats off the lawn. (Google what pathogens exist in cat s****.)

I read the reviews and some of them put me off. but I took a gamble, and it paid off. From the Day I put these in my garden , they worked. I was surprised because the instructions said they will take 3 weeks to start working, to train the cats. Before using these, my garden was the toilet for the neighbourhood cats. Since the first day using these, no cat poo at all not even one. My instructions did not say what setting to put these on? I’ve put both switches to Maximum and they keep cats away . I’m puzzled by the negative reviews but they definately work for me.

Wouldn’t live without these now !!

The main reason why I purchased these ultrasonic repellers, was to try and keep a few cats out of my garden. They love sitting quietly under a bird feeding cage – hence no birds that dare approach it – and they like to mark my garden with some bad smelling spraying.

There’s also my neighbour’s playful Staffordshire bull terrier, who likes to bark and bump its head against the garden fence, jump up and push against it, whenever I’m sitting there, trying to relax with a book. The Stafford was the first object of my experiment with the Pestbye repeller. I simply put one reppeler close to me, stuck between the pavement. Whenever the dog approached the fence, I gently waved my hand in front of the sensor – because the dog couldn’t trigger it through the ivy-covered fence. It backed away each time, tried to come closer, backed away, remained silent and even went indoors after a while.
I repeated this a few times whenever the dog returned. The dog keeps its distance.

A neighbourhood cat who loves coming into the apartment building with anyone who lets it enter, was my second object. I took one reppeler, opened the front door, invited the cat to come in, which it happily did, and then the sensor went off. The cat instantly backed away, with a clear grimace of dislike, as if it smelled something bad.
I invited the cat back in, which took some effort. The cat absolutely loves to come in, and carefully tried to enter. But the moment the sensor went off, it backed away and gladly kept its distance. It did not want to come in again.

Since I have the two repellers placed strategically in different corners of my garden, the other cats have not been seen, nor have I smelled any territorial spraying. I’m very happy with this product, because it works gently but very clearly. Cats and dogs really want to avoid coming near the sound it produces.

Both repellers are set at 4, and the sensitivity button set very high.
I can only hear a ticking sound when it is activated, a very soft clicking, which reminds me of an electronic insect killer.

The only thing I have not been able to establish as of yet, is battery life. When I’m working in my garden, I turn both repellents away from the pathways, so they will not be activated during that time.

I used one of these in my garden on the flowerbed where the local cats were doing their business. The main issue was that my dog was digging up the poo and eating it and I was worried it would make him ill. I set the frequency to bother cats and dogs and I got the result I wanted instantly as my dog wouldn’t go near it or the flowerbed, so he stopped eating the poo from day 1! I don’t see any poo in the bed when I’m weeding it so I think it worked on the cats too. I removed the device a month ago and the cats still avoid it. I will put it back if they start toileting there again.

Bought to keep squirrels off the raspberries. It took a little work to get them in just the right position but once in place they worked very well. The birds still steal them but at least they don’t damage the raspberry canes like the squirrels do. They have been in place for a couple of months and are still going on the original set of rechargeable batteries. I bought these as recently I’ve had cat faeces on the grass every morning. I have a lawn roughly 25x30ft. After a few times I tried citrus peel around the area the cat was using and they started using a different part. It was also spraying up the fence.

It’s been a week now after installing these and no more mess at all. I like cats but I like to use my garden without having to constantly clean up someone else’s pets mess. I just wanted to make it uncomfortable for the cat to use my lawn as it’s toilet and stop it marking it as it’s territory.

I bought 2 as I read they need a clear line of sight and I have a black current bush that would be in the way with just one. I set them at 5 and 5.

I am used to cats coming into the garden and I try to deter them as kindly as I can. I am 70 years old and I like cats but unfortunately they love leaving unpleasant parcels on my lawn and garden. Until now the best repellant I ever had was a water spray/motion detector. The downside with that was that I had to turn it off every time I went to the garden
(I sometimes forgot and got soaked). I’ve had ultrasonic systems before and they were never as good as this system!
These one worked from day one. I watch as the neighbour’s cats came into the garden as usual, instead of hanging around they looked briefly bewidered and then ran off. The next day they did it again. After that they have not returned. Money well spent. I hope they are as weatherproof as they say!
Oh yes it is a bit tricky to change batteries as the screws are fiddly for my poor eyesight and ageing fingers but to be honest its a small price to pay for a brilliant device. I highly recommend these…..well worth the pric

A local cat was using the alleyway to the rear of the house as a toilet which meant I was having to walk through an increasing amount of cat poo to get my cycle in/out and get rubbish to skip. I have tried various products to harmlessly move cat to a new spot without success and this device was my last resort. I didn’t have much faith in its success but I must admit to being very impressed at the results so far. The unit has been in place for about two weeks and no sign of cat or poo since then.

Very portable to use without wires etc. a neat size and seems to work. I have attached one to a fence post with the spike provided, to keep pigeons off our fence, so far so good, not a pigeon in sight. The only down side is the fiddly screws that screw into the back which holds the batteries. Don’t know how long the batteries last yet as only had it up for just over a week but use rechargeable batteries anyway so should not be an issue. Overall am delighted, so far the best pigeon deterrent I have come across.

Golden Review Award: 144 From Our UsersDespite all the positive reviews I knew these ultrasonic gadgets wouldn’t work so kept the packaging as I’d be sending them back under the 45 days money back guarantee. Also, you get what you pay for and at 24.99 for two they were clearly going to be pretty bad especially when the similar RSPB approved Catwatch Ultrasonic gadgets are four times the price. Worth a go though as all other efforts to stop cats pooping under our Cedar Tree had failed and the last straw was a Tom who decided he needed to mark our Courgette plants on his garden patrols.

All poop under the Cedar cleared away and grass around the Courgettes mown short I installed the PestBye units, did a walk test in front of them to ensure they covered the main cat entry routes and set the Sens. to one from max and the Freq. to the 5th dot (as per picture)then waited. A couple of days later I watched Tom wondering towards our Courgettes but oddly he was approaching very cautiously then paused, turned around and pottered off in a different direction. A coincidence or a result? Next up was cat on route to Cedar pooping grounds, again approaching very cautiously then quietly skirting around the PestBye sensor zone and disappearing through the hedge. Hmm, maybe these gadgets do do something.

Its now almost three weeks since I put the PestBye gadgets out and to my astonishment and delight our Courgettes appear to have been avoided and there are no poops under our Cedar Tree which has long been a favourite and busy spot for our local cats. Also, the cats don’t seem to be in any way distressed by the units which is important too, they just quietly avoid the areas, and the birds and other wildlife that used to visit our garden still seem to visit as usual so no other detrimental side effects which is great. I’m sort of expecting the cats to get used to the gadgets so I’m going to move them every couple of weeks just to mix things up a little.

Now the dilemma. My neighbour mentioned that cats have started pooping in her flower beds. Do I tell her about the PestBye gadgets I’ve installed hence a possible/probable reason why they’re now using her flower beds? If she buys some will the cats then find a new pooping spot in my garden. Hmm, will keep a low profile for now.

ONE MONTH LATER – Update. Hmm, two cat poops under the tree. A huge improvement for sure but are the cats getting used to the PestBye? I’ve moved the unit to a new position so lets see if that resolves the issue. Even though I can hear it working and see the blue sensor light coming on, I think I’ll stick some new batteries in as well. Time will tell.

    EIGHT MONTHS LATER
After an excellent start, eight months on the cats have become totally used to the PestBye and happily walk right in front of the units and relieve themselves. Moving the units around, changing the settings a bit and making sure batteries were always fresh extended the effectiveness for a while longer but I’ve now exhausted all permutations and PestBye now has zero effect as a cat deterrent. A good short term solution though.

Worked brilliantly for a few months then cats ignore

We have three cats and I did not want to scare them off from home, but our front garden has a flower border around t,he edges with gravel in the centre, which the cats seemed delighted to use as their toilet grrr .
Queue the PestBye Ultrasonic Battery Operated Motion Activated Cat Repellent, we have it directed away from the path and entrance, but over ours and our neighbours gardens.. sceptical of it working, but my partner was outside having a cigarette as one of our cats strolled across – it go about two steps onto the gravel and the unit activated.. the cat looks immediately behind it and then dashed off around the side of the house… (no pooh … three days later … clean gravel.. mission accomplished ) Really recommend… (not yet sure of the battery life or how waterproof it is, but as it has a rubber /silicon gasket on the battery compartment – I am hopeful)

I was literally at the end of my tether.

I have over the past 25 years had 12 cats, The majority abandoned ones and one that was pregnant, I couldn’t part her 4 babies from her hence the 12 at one point. I’m now sadly down to two. However I have such great memories and the love they all gave was immense I would never have changed a thing.

I wanted to share that with you, to let customers know I am a cat lover. All my cats are and where indoor cats.
all neutered and spayed. My life and house has been lived round my cats.

I have a beatiful garden and lawn, I get the odd cat poop nothing major. Until recently, A few new neighbours have moved in and 4 new cats have appeared and all seemed to have taken a liking to my lawn and each use it daily so yes 4 poops a day, I first tried the powder stuff that smelt like oranges, no effect. At the end of my tether has I have a grandson whose 3 and loves the outdoors. I tried the pestbye ultrasonic, I was sceptical but saw it had great reviews. It has been a week since popping them in the garden and not one poop. I do my daily poop check sad I know, and still can’t believe there is nothing there.

I am blown away by how good these are and more importantly they do work. Thank you.

The battery panel is held in place by four tiny screws. They are so small that you require a mini Phillips screwdriver. After initial use I fear that the screws will become worn and unusable. I recommend that the manufacturer supply/design larger screws in future models. Rather than using four AA batteries it would be preferable if the manufacturer designed the unit for larger, more powerful and longer lasting batteries.

Have a new roll down lawn and cats have had me tormented for the last few weeks, morning and night. I have tried pepper, vinegar, orange peel, and they’re only the natural remedies, I have spent a fortune on gels/crystals etc. I got these on Friday evening and have not had a single visit since (it’s now Monday, so I would have expected a MINIMUM of 6 visits by now, by several cats). These seem to be the job. They are not expensive at 25 when crystals for example cost me 7 a bottle. Long may these little miracle machines continue! I am actually online ordering some for my elderly neighbours who have enquired about mine!

We were fed up by a particular cat coming into our garden and killing the birds as they fed at the feeder. Purchased this device, installed it and haven’t seen the cat since. It is still early days so I hope my positive experience doesn’t change. To balance this review, the instructions were useless and gave no explanation on how to adjust the settings; a quick Google search sorted this out. Sadly, it has not deterred the squirrels that raid my bird feeders: perhaps that’s a different setting, but without instructions…

This ultrasonic cat repellent really works. Shortly after putting them in my front garden I saw the marauding cat from across the road approach my garden, stop and sit down in the road. It had obviously triggered the device and didn’t like it. After a short while the device switched off and the cat resumed its approach to my garden. It re-triggered the device, stopped and turned away in disgust – to the cheers of the birds feeding in my garden. It hasn’t been back!

I’ve just purchased a replacement unit as one of the two I bought 2 years ago had gone rusty and couldn’t be fixed. The second unit is still in working order. These work well and keep our neighboors cats away from catching birds in our flower borders. However, several children who have visited comment on the high pitched sound and have even complained that the noise hurt their ears. Nevertheless they are highly effective and in the time we’ve had them, the batteries have only once been changed. At the price, this is a very good buy.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI purchased a pack of 2 censors and monitord the grass for a few weeks with 100% success, no more cats and foxes leaving a mess on my lawn. After a good 6 to 8 weeks the grass was clean and only after this time l saw mess appear then realised one of the censors was not working, after removing the back, it was evident that water had got into the battery area with corrosion across the terminals, having used wire wool to clean the area, the censor worked well again keeping the cats and foxes away, best to lean them back slightly to keep rain from the rear, very good product.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI bought two of these for my front garden to deal with a cat problem but the identical two in the back garden have been there a long, long time. The first went in to action on 9Apr2011 followed by the other on 1May2012 and both are still working well. They are very effective but not instantaneous. “Curiosity killed the cat”. No matter how annoying something is to cats curiosity about a new experience will get the better of them and initially they will not be put off. Another problem is that cats are clever animals and they will soon discover a path in your garden to avoid the PestBye and therefore you need to move them about to keep the cats guessing. You will soon see cats on top of your fences as they learn how to avoid the devices. At one time I had to attach one of my PestBye to a tree so that it was about a metre off the ground as one cat had found a route to the top of the compost bin where it would wait for the birds. The other issue is the batteries. I get about six weeks out of a fully charged set of NiMH (but that depends on the number of cats) but once the batteries are flat the cats will soon be back so you need to check them regularly. It’s a simple matter of walking in front of the device and noticing if the blue LED comes on. It’s big and bright so it is easy to see. Modern battery chargers are also a problem. These PestBye are old school and completely drain the batteries which means that when they are placed in a modern charger the LEDs flash red to indicate the batteries are faulty and need replacing. This happens with my Maplin charger and my Energiser charger. Fortunately I also have an old type charger and putting the batteries in it for three minutes solves the problem. When placed in the Maplin charger after the three minute charge the LEDs are green indicating the batteries are fully charged but after a few seconds change to indicate a refresh cycle has begun and then move on to the ordinary charging cycle after about half an hour after which they are good for another six weeks in the garden.
PestBye is not perfect. If the batteries go flat while you are on holiday you can come home to dead birds in your garden and if you have a large garden I would imagine it could be difficult to find places were PestBye would cover the whole thing but they very definitely work well in my garden.

Great product! However… one worked and the other doesn’t. Slightly annoying. The good news is that the one that does work has stopped the cats p****** on my shed. Just wish the other worked to get coverage over my garden, to stop them s******* in the middle of my garden. Doesn’t seem to affect the birds either which is great. I would recommend trying another product which may cost a bit more but should be a bit more reliable. These high pitch products do work though. Added bonus of not being harmful either.

My neighbour got 2 cats last year. Unfortunately they liked to use my garden as a toilet! I had tried everything from garlic, coffee grains, vinegar etc and nothing worked. I wanted something that wasnt harmful to the cats so gave these repellents a go. The first day they went to toilet directly in front of repellent… however, after a week as soon as they set the repellent off they run out of garden immediately! They are hardly venturing into my garden at all now. It really is working very well and I am really happy with this product!

I’ve only had these a week now, but the fox problem I bought them to fix seems to have subsided. The foxes clearly didn’t like them – the first night they dug them up (as well as the garden)! But the next night I surrounded them with wooden spikes (snapped cane) to make them hard to get at and since then, fingers crossed, there has been no more digging and pooping. Will up to 5* if this carries on for a sustained period.

We had a major issue with cats using our grass as a litter tray. What seemed like every cat in the street would use our front garden to do their business. Not only was it unsightly, but it also affected the condition of the grass and meant we didn’t like letting our son out to play at the front of the house. Since installing these we haven’t had a single cat visit our garden! The grass is recovering and we can now let our son play without worrying. The only drawback is that I can hear the noise emitted from them, however my husband can’t and none of our friends or family can so I must just have very sensitive hearing!

I have an old cat, bought this to deter other cats in my garden who were visiting frequently at the windows and upsetting my cat (he is deaf so can’t hear it anyway). Doesn’t work with every cat but has reduced the numbers considerably, so very effective.

The screws to attach the mounting pole are very, very small, would have been so much easier if they could have been attached by hand instead of using tools, it requires a set of miniature screw drivers.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAt our old house, this cat used to relieve itself right outside our front door (really stinky and I don’t know what I did to the cat but it seems to have a grudge with me – it was like clock work, every morning we work out of the house, there’s the smell and sight to behold from that cat). After installing this product (just one, I kept the other one as spare) that cat and it’s droppings was no where to be seen. We are in a new house now and our street is littered with cats, I’am just waiting for that one cat to have a grudge and start depositing in my garden before I bring this top gun product out again (both are in storage in my garage). These work great! On the first day we put it in the garden we heard it start to do its beep sonic sound thing, then 2 seconds later we heard the cat squill and run away! As long as it was on it worked perfectly and the stinky problem we had was resolved.
2 of my neighbours have since bought these so would highly recommend them.
You can hear them, and how much seems to depend on age (the younger you are the more you hear it, it’s like a pulsey sound, a tad annoying but doesn’t do anything to make you uncomfortable), although if you’re going to be walking past them you can turn the sensor down so they don’t go off, just remember to turn it back on as one day we forgot and the cat left his calling card!

I installed these as like others have experienced, my garden was the communal cat dumping ground.
To my utter delight I have seen cats sprinting past to dump on next doors garden (yay for me, sorry neighbours!)
There is one cat who is a right prick who was sniffing about but the sensors seemed to be winding him up a bit and then he buggered off next door too.

It’s a shame that you have to buy these when people get cats as 25 could go towards more important stuff but when your front garden is literally covered in shi..erm stuff you have no option.

Thoroughly recommended, the batteries seem okay so far (been in just over a week but reading some reviews worried me a bit).

If they seem quick to drain batteries or are not working then adjust the settings.

For months we’ve a had big black cat using our garden as a toilet and after taking tips from various people who suggested coffee, citrus peel and various other options to stop the cat from taking dumps all across the garden. None worked.

I then researched other options and came across these ultrasonic cat repellant devices and read the reviews and thought I’ll give these a try for a month and see what happens. The result was immediate.

2 days after putting the sensors in the garden I investigated and found that the cat had kindly taken a poo right behind one of the sensors, so I moved the sensor against the wall and tried again. The cat did find a place that wasn’t covered by the sensors, so I relocated sensor and since then we’ve had a poo free garden!

Based on my experience over the last couple of weeks I have no hesitation in recommending these sensors as a quick and easy way to stop cats from using your garden as a toilet.

Product arrived a day early. Well packed, and just as described. Need quite a bit of self-assembly with no written instructions, although fairly obvious what to do. Be careful to fit the rectangular rubber grommet in the correct position before screwing the back plate into position AFTER you have inserted the batteries. Also, the securing clip for the metal stake has a right and wrong way up – align the bolt holes – a bit fiddly! The metal stake is a good idea – I have had plastic ones in the past, which broke quite easily! No sure of their effectiveness yet, but no cats in the area where the scarers are for the past two nights! Fingers crossed it lasts!!

After installing these cat deterrents about 6 weeks ago I have noticed the reduction of cats visiting the garden. We still occasionally get a cat around but you can see from their behaviour that they are not happy and don`t stay around very long. The secret seems to be in the correct placement of the devices and the sensitivity set. They are not perfect, but so far I am satisfied that they are relatively successful. I have not seen any cat litter around and we don`t get any foul scent from their spraying since the deterrents have been in place.

Bought this product in early June and placed out immediately. Noticed after one night, no more piles of soil hiding cat muck. But the cat(s) had moved to another part of the garden and started dropping there. I moved one of the sensors to that part of the garden and adjusted the other to cover the majority of the rest of the garden. All cat activity stopped immediately. To reinforce just how effective they are, my son, who is 21, and I had to do some hard landscaping in my garden and turned them off as my son was being irritated by the high pitch whine(…………..?) Of course, being a doddery old codger, I forgot to turn them back on. STILL no cat activity. I have switched them on and off at intervals to see the results and am happy to report that the cat(s) is/are littering someone else’s newly planted garden with little gifts. Highly recommended for cats and irritating yutes.

Golden Review Award: 207 From Our UsersI’ve been having so many issues with Cats in the garden. Not only fouling but also killing anything and everything that moves. They pretty much spend all night every night in the garden. It’s been a real pain.

    Until now.

These things actually seem to be working. Whereas there wasn’t a night where the cats weren’t in the garden for about 6 hours a time, they haven’t spent any time in the garden at all since these have been installed.

I’ve seen the cats approach the garden, the sensor has activated, the cat reacts to it and legs it out of the garden. These things have been a huge breakthrough.

Wasn’t sure how effective these would be but am very pleasantly surprised. Since having them in our small back garden we hardly see any cats and the odd ones we have seen don’t get more than a few feet in before they turn and run for the hills. Previously they would treat our lawn as a sunbathing place and regularly hunt for birds in the bushes. If our conservatory door was open they would even step inside as bold as brass. These devices do what it says on the tin. Would have given 5 stars except that, as others have said, the back plates are very fiddly with the tiny screws. Surely somebody could have come up with an easier design.

Golden Review Award: 124 From Our UsersThese work. Two neighbourhood cats were coming in every day, leaving many deposits and yellow patches on the lawn. Since putting these out ( six weeks ago) there has not been one visit from them. The PestBye only works from the front, where the lens and sensors are, so I bought the two pack, and have them angled to cover my small garden. If you have a bigger garden, I’d go for the three pack, to cover all angles. Mine are stuck in the ground ( they have a generous sized spike), so really easy to use, and I turn them to face a wall when gardening, to save the batteries. The birds still come, as do the bees, so no problem there. There are two dials on the front and I have them set at the halfway mark, and that seems enough to deter cats.
The only slight draw back is that the batteries have a screwed down cover, on the back. There are four tiny screws, very fiddly, but I have now bought the correct tiny X style screwdriver, which should help. I put in Poundland batteries and, six weeks on, they are still going strong. If the gadgets continue to be effective, I will invest in some good quality rechargeable ones.
Despite the tiny screws, I have given this 5 star rating because they deter cats without harming them, or any other wildlife.

I recently built a raised bed for growing herbs outdoors filled with fresh, clean soil. The local cats could not contain their excitement or appreciation and demonstrated this through persistent and volumous deposits of turd at every opportunity. Despite my best efforts to chase them off, it only made them more determined. In a moment of desperation I bought the PestBye Ultrasonic Battery Operated Repeller expecting little change to the daily feline barrage yet was amazed. This means that the screws are only part way home. No instructions on settings. It will be a while before judgement can be made as to their use.
So far, a cat recently went to the unit, probably attracted to the blue light, sniffed around it, and then sauntered off, not impressed.

Not sure it covers 7 metres as advised – maybe 5 would be more realistic. But they work – which is why I have re-ordered a second pair. (Shared the first 2 with next door neighbour & we both agree you need 2 to cover a fairly small to midsized garden.) But they do work – within 1 week you can see a crescent area where cats no longer visit & foul. Could be best used to target specific bedding areas. Not to bad on batteries so far – poundland 4xaa have lasted 3 weeks and counting.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFor reasons I’ll explain in a minute, this review is mainly about user-friendliness (or rather the lack of it), for the time being at least.

The battery compartment cover is held in place by 4 small screws, which take some time to unscrew. Then once you’ve done this and changed the batteries, you need to fiddle around with the rubber seal around the battery compartment to make sure it’s in place properly (it’s slightly oversized and not fixed in place at all) before spending more time reattaching the screws.

You can’t really do all this while the device is “in situ” so you have to take it out of the ground. That means that (unless you’ve hung them from a wall) you also have a muddy stake to contend with, because you won’t want to bother taking the stake off temporarily, as it’s held in place with a small, and even more fiddly, nut and bolt arrangement.

I’ve only got these recently and I saw one reviewer saying they have to change the batteries every few weeks, so it seems I may have to undergo this chore quite frequently. Especially as I need to use both of them, and they’re in my front garden where one or both will be activated whenever anyone comes or goes.

I can’t help thinking it would have been quite easy to design both a closure for the battery compartment and a method of attachment for the stake that would have been much more quick and convenient.

Then there is the skimpy leaflet that comes with them, which has a lot less information and instructions than the product information on the Amazon website. Sure, you can print that off or copy it to your PC or phone, but you really shouldn’t be required to.

OK, rant over. What you really want to know is “Do they work?”. Too early for me to say for sure, because my problem with fouling by cats (definitely) and dogs/foxes (possibly) has fortunately only been occasional. But the initial signs look promising – since I put them in, I’ve only once seen one of the neighbourhood moggies in my garden, and it didn’t seem keen to hang around. And no more fouling as yet.

So, for now, 2 stars. That’s 3 for slightly promising on effectiveness, minus 1 for lack of user-friendliness. Once I have more evidence of their effectiveness (or otherwise), I’ll revisit this review and bump the rating up or down as appropriate.

UPDATE – Yes, they do work, but you need to experiment with the frequency settings. In my case I have 2 separate patches of lawn and I was getting different types of “deposits” on each – smaller and harder on lawn 1, larger and softer on lawn 2. But I set both devices to frequency 4 to start with, as I knew cats were part of the problem – I’d seen one “in the act” a couple of times on lawn 1. The problem went away immediately on lawn 1, but not on lawn 2 until I lowered the frequency dial on lawn 2 to between 1 and 2. So presumably some other type of animal there.

Since this tweak I’ve had only 1 recurrence of the problem – but that was very recently, and was a “lawn 2 type” on lawn 1. So now I may have to to change the frequency on lawn 1.

Nevertheless, they’ve made a big difference, and each set of batteries lasts 4-5 months, so I’m increasing my rating from 2 stars to 4.

I still see cats in the garden from time to time, so I suspect that they’re not particularly bothered by the sound most of the time, but they don’t feel like they want to be under observation or uncomfortable while “doing their business” (like us humans!) – so they go somewhere else to do it.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI never write about anything, normally send more stuff back. I have had Cats problems for years read reviews on both Amazon and Ebay, both negative and positive, EBay being more negative, so you can imagine I was hesitant about the purchase a lot of money if it did not do what is says so kept the box just in case .I assembled it put it out side with both dials about half way and from day one it worked. I could not believe kept checking to see if there was any mess and nothing its been exactly 7 days now I am delighted. Most people did have success straight away and some stating it was longer, I did think most reviews could be written by the Company or Family members. So I purchased 2 and now have a spare or could use it else where. I really have no negative things to say about it honestly. Do not dither has I did, I was always annoyed that the cats did not use next doors Garden as a toilet, until only a couple of days ago I noticed in between her plants she has an older model.I will use the other one in the back to rid it of Squirrels. So good luck folks

For over a year after we’ve moved to a new house, I’ve had a problem with my neighbours cats using my brand new lawn as their toilet. I saw this product on Amazon and decided to give it a go, and it worked great. Cats are gone from my garden. On the first day after we’ve put it in place I could see how confused the cats are they were looking at my garden but wouldn’t come in. After few days they just looked elsewhere to do their business.
Only negative is that my sister is so sensitive to that she cannot sit in the garden when it’s on but it doesn’t bother anyone else including my 20 months old son. So we just take it of the hook when my sister is visiting.

If you have a large garden you are going to have to spend a proportionate amount of money on these to stop the local cats using your garden as a toilet. I bought these for my nan who has a huge garden and they really haven’t helped, but I think that’s because there is too much of her garden that the cats can get to without setting the sensors off. I’ve still rated this as four stars because in my small garden they appear to have done the trick. The only cat I’ve seen since was sat on top of our girls play house (which would be too high to set the sensors off) but more importantly (touch wood), no more cat presents.

I bought these 2 items in desperation and I can honestly say that I wish I had bought them sooner. I’ve had problems for years with cats using my small front lawn as a toilet and tried different products to stop them, non really worked except pepper powder and that was only any good if the weather was fine. I returned from a weeks holiday and had to clear up 5 lots of cat mess, that was the last straw so I bought these (doubting they would work). I placed one in my garden and the effect was instant NO CAT MESS at all for over a week, until one cat worked out there was a patch of grass that was not covered by the IR “beam” so I put the second device in and that did the trick. I have gone from cleaning up cat mess pretty much daily to not at all apart from the time the patch of grass was not covered by the device and once when I turned down the sensitivity of the IR. I have rated these as 5 stars because they have worked a treat for me.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGreat product!!! My lawn is now t**d free and cat free. Not sure why the 1 stars claim it doesn’t work, perhaps the cats were deaf, or the settings were wrong. That said I had the pleasure of seeing my cat deterrent in action just months after my purchase. I was sat admiring my lawn when a cat edged its way up the flower bed, as soon as it came into the area covered by this radar it was like it’d been scared by a very loud noise, milliseconds later, it had vacated my garden. Hurrah.

Brilliant kit! Keeps the cats from sh…..g in my garden! Have three of these. I recommend coating the inside seal with Vaseline and putting electrical tape around the outer casing seal to help keep the weather out. Avoid putting near ‘moving’ plants or anything that will trigger them unnecessarily and the batteries will last several months. I put a bucket over them if I am gardening to avoid needless triggering of the device. Love these !

    p.s.
    Kodak batteries are rubbish !!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI purchased this after rescuing yet another bird in my garden from a particularly irritating local cat. Having then watched the cat hovering outside a Great Tit next box waiting for the adults to return, I decided enough was enough. The high pressure water pistol had failed even after a direct hit. I bought these not expecting them to work particularly. They have done. I have placed two in the back garden with an ‘arc of fire’ so a very large chunk of the garden is covered. Since I put them in, the local cats (which were a real menace and daily visitors) have not returned to the garden once. I was having to chase them out every few hours as they stalked our local wildlife. The units are now protecting an area with three nests. I have also noticed the local grey squirrels don’t particularly like them although they have to be on the ground to be within the sensor. I am giving the units 4 stars simply because the instructions are very poor. The actual units are very effective. I can’t comment on battery life although mine are being prompted to come on constantly by all the birds who now feed on the ground in safety (you can tell it is operating as a blue light comes on as it emits the ‘silent’ deterrent noise). Now – a note of caution. I’m an adult and I can’t hear the noise being emitted. My children (aged 7 and 9) can, and claim it can hurt their ears if they get too close to the sensors. Birds are completely unaffected by the units (from pigeons to wrens).

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSo far so good. Bought a powder repellent as cats kept fauling our veggie patch and kids play area but found fresh cat poop on top of thick spray of powder so… for a week we haven’t had cats poo. It’s safe for kids and definitely works. I wish I ordered it before I wasted my money on “fully natural” cat repellent powder which u can’t disperse on veggies or near kids- not so natural then… and certainly not workin. So if you want cats out definitely get this product! No more rounds around the garden to clean cats poo before kids get to it and so easy to dismantle when kids are in the garden – just take it out of the ground and put back overnight.

Did not know what to expect.I have read reviews of other cat repellents, and was not impressed, but I bought these 2,I am very pleased with them.We came back from holliday to be greeted by over 40 sets of cat poo on our small front garden. That is why we had to do something,so that is the reason for the purchase.
When I first set them up I had 2 lots of poo,I reset the positions increased the frequency.GREAT,I have had no more poo .I see the cats walk past my garden, but they do not come in.
The repellers look well made and not too obtrusive. The only one small niggle ,the screws for the battery cover are very fiddly and the holes a little small making it difficult to find a screwdriver that fits (and I have dozens) without chewing the screw heads off.

Wow! I didn’t expect these to work so quickly! Within a couple of days of installing these the cats were no longer using my grass as a toilet! Result! I run them on rechargeable batteries (4 x 2,300mAh AA) and they work well, lasting a couple of months at a time. The children say that they can hear the noise it makes and I can also hear it but faintly. A small price to pay for a cat-poo free garden.

I hope that I am not tempting fate by writing this review but here goes. I’ve had these now for approximately 6 weeks, cut the grass a number of times in that time period and so far so good, no little presents from our feline friends! We have a number of cats around where we live and they are not even discrete about where they deposit, usually straight in the middle of the lawn, not even in the boarders with an attempt of a cover-up. However on arrival of the scarers I set about building them up, not too difficult a task but the screws are a little fiddly when you have sausages for fingers, anyway a descent screwdriver makes all the difference, got them set up in the gardens (I have mine in the corners so its gets the best spread). The instructions that come with them are sparse however tells you all you need to know. I know people have commented on hearing a noise when they activate them and this is the case with mine also, a low clicking noise which is barely noticeable until you get close to them, I’ve also only got mine set to approximately half of its settings (volume). I did use a technique from another reviewer for when I am working in the garden which is to use a plant pot to cover them up so I do not keep activating them, you just have to remember to remove it when you have finished. We still get cats coming in the garden but they are either walking along the fence line before jumping into the neighbours or when they walk directly through they tend to just keep on going these days. I suppose the only down side to these is the fact that my neighbours are now finding they have more deposits than they did for which I will apologise as I get on with my neighbours really well.
