Perfect. Very happy with it. And the dogs love it.
I have two miniature schnauzers and one jack Russell. I bought a medium size flap and it is perfect for them. Thank you!

Solid metal frame, soft rubber flap.
Unlike other cat flaps I have purchased, this one has a sturdy metal frame. However, I chose this because of the rubbery flap as our cats have experienced difficulties with solid hard plastic flaps and paws getting caught up in the past. The flap is lovely soft opaque rubber that most cats would be strong enough to push and bend. I guess it’s why the manufacturers chose this material. The flap is held vertical by a magnet, similar to a fridge door. Our cat has taken a bit of time learning she needs a bit a initial head weight to push it open but she got there in the end. In my experience, cat flaps are never as easy to fit as the videos would have you believe, so allow a good couple of hours just in case. Like most DIY, it’s down to your experience and no doubt if I was fitting one of these each day I could well have it done in under half an hour. We know somebody who paid 60 to have one fitted and to be honest, if you don’t own a jig-saw, drill and some knee protection that’s not a bad price versus exhaustion. I saw it’s possible to renew rubber flap if it gets worn so let’s see how long this lasts.

When I first came to fit the flap in the door I did have a bit of a problem as the door wasn’t as thick as the smallest fit of the flap mounting. In the end I bought a wooden photo frame and fitted the wood around the flap on the inside of the door . It fits fine and looks good.

Golden Review Award: 40 From Our UsersWorks fine, with a wee bit of tinkering...
Bought the medium for our 15kg beagle and her arse makes it through with no problems.
Only issue I had was the crossbar on the upvc door as it got in the way of the sliding cover.
All I had to do was to hold the panel flush against the door – under the crossbar – and mark the place where I’d need to remove part of the sliding edge.
You can see where I managed to trim a few cm from the bottom of the panel and now i can put it flush against the door and it slides in. Otherwise it was putting pressure on the plastic bolts and might have ruined them.

Good Value and Quality Cat Flap
We needed a cat flap in our back garage door to allow our cats access to shelter if we were away from the house. It was relatively easy to fit and is of quite good quality. I initially thought it might be too small for the biggest of our cats but so far they all seem to be able to use it. I recommend this cat flap.

The system (with the two flaps) works wonderfully
We bought two for a nine-inch outside wall. Our builder made a little tunnel for the dogs (a beagle and a terrier, for which ‘medium’ is the right size) to go through. We weren’t sure that we were doing right but they got used to it in seconds and the system (with the two flaps) works wonderfully. I might add that the flaps are very well-made.

    Decent dog/cat flap
Bought this for our Border Terrier and Tabby to use. Was easy to put into the aluminium door and so far has withstood the dog hitting it at speed. It did struggle with the recent wind storms and let a draught in but we just inserted the barrier door.

    Would recommend.

The flap arrived with a ‘kink’ in the middle which meant it wasn’t connecting to the magnet at the bottom. Also, the kink meant it wasn’t flush and let the cold air/rain in. However, after writing to the seller, they were kind enough to replace the flap and now it works perfectly. No more problems. Highly recommend this company and the pet door.

Very good but take care with size of sliding door in regards to your door!
Make sure you will be able to take the sliding door out since our PVC door has got a window in the upper half and it prevents us from sliding it out (it gets stuck). We’ve bend the top bits of the metal rails it slides through a bit so it comes out more easily but best solution has proven to just not open it all the way (dog still gets through perfectly).

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersBrilliant - saves me keep having to open the door to let the dog ou
This is actually the second one we’ve bought of these. The reason being that our back door locking mechanism has finally given up the ghost and we had to get a new backdoor. With the dogs going in and out of these flaps all day, even with cleaning, the do get a bit scratched up and dirty over time so we thought that if we’re forking out for a new door we might as well get a new flap to go with it.

It’s very easy to fit – at least that’s what the door installers told me 🙂

The size I have is the MEDIUM one and its perfectly adequate for my dogs which are miniature schnauzers. The black one that you see in the picture, Ben, he’s quite large for a miniature schnauzer and still fits through it perfectly well. Maybe the small might be ok for other Miniature Schnauzers.

You’ll notice we’ve installed the flap very low on the door. This is because the cover that slides into it to secure the flap requires as much space above it as possible. The old one we installed too high and it was difficult to get the security cover out and in because we had to bend it a little because the recessed panel in the door. Where it is now is perfect.

The security cover has a little metal spring loaded lock on it. I do have to pull this out when I’m pushing it down into the flap to get over the edges, but once its in, its impossible to open from the outside as far as we can tell.

The flap is also magnetic so it stays shut even in the wind – this was a definite requirement of mine as I didn’t want it flapping open in the wind and letting the cold air in.

In summary, I’m very happy – I wouldn’t have bought one again if I wasn’t.

It is well worth paying more for the aluminium dog flap. It is much more robust and seals well. I also think it looks a lot nicer. If you do have a dog that is particularly energetic and damages the flap, even outside the warranty, it can be replaced very easily.

It took my Border Terrier a little while to get comfortable with his own personal door. After 2 days he’d sussed it out and loves it. I did not have any problems with the plastic bolts on installation. They’re actually better than metal ones as they have a security nut that prevents anyone removing the door from the outside and being plastic they’re simple to trim flush. The cover won’t fit if you have a centre bar across the door but just trim an inch or two of the edge sliders and it will fit without fuss.

The magnetic door closes well and is quite quiet. There is a very slight draft but until winter it remains to be seen how bad this will be. Overall I’m extremely happy with the product and my dog is even happier.

Personally I’d like to give this cat flap 5 stars, as it seems very well made and was a doddle to fit. The metal frame should last, and the flap itself is replaceable should it wear out. However, I’ve deducted one star because our 3 cats really aren’t keen! I chose it because it has a deep (tall) and flexible flap. It works on the first point, but it’s not very ‘flexible’. Hopefully it will soften up with use, but if anything I expect it will probable harden! Time will tell. Perhaps I need to get stronger/braver cats!

The aluminium frame is far superior to the standard frame. Instead of using the included plastic screws I replaced them with 50mm stainless steel screws providing a very solid fitment. We are just coming into winter and I will be interest in the thermal aspect of the plastic door and its ability to stay closed on a windy and cold day. Perhaps a thicker insulated flap with this frame would be the ideal combination but so far very good and our dog just loves it … took him just 30 minutes to work it all out. Very good flap….except those stupid plastic screws that hold it together through the door. Why oh why make something so strong that operates so well and then use silly plastic M4 screws to pull it together? The heads shear off or the shafts snap, useless. If you do buy one of these get a handful of M4 stainless steel bolts from an auction site (length dependant on your door thickness plus 20mm) and some M4 stainless washers and locknuts. To be honest I think the plastic bolts are a security issue too as it doesn’t take much to break them prying the flap from the door and then removing the whole assembly.
Other than that a good strong cat flap. This medium size one is perfect for out Shih Tzu.

Golden Review Award: 23 From Our UsersThe construction is very good and when the shutter is in place on the ...
I read most of the negative reviews on this product and still decided to go ahead and purchase one. Most of the reviews seemed to be about the wind blowing the flap open. Mine is still new but seems firm enough and a strong wind hasn’t managed to blow it open yet. The construction is very good and when the shutter is in place on the back our cat who I believe could be a distant relative of Houdini can’t manage to get out. You can buy replacement flaps. The plastic screws which are provided broke when I was using my power screw driver. I replaced them with metal screws. The cat flap width was slightly too large for our door so I had to fit a type of plastic beeding around the flap to take up the slack which has worked out fine. Whilst I was reading all the reviews on various cat flaps there didn’t seem to be a perfect one, but this I feel is probably one of the best out there. It would have been nice if it had a locking device which would locked by itself when the cat was in. Most of the other cat flaps in the past that I have fitted seemed very flimsy, this one feels it will last for ages. I am pleased with my purchase.

    Very pleased
This is a solid pet door better than the plastic versions which my dog used to break quite regularly. It also has a good seal on the flap which keeps the cold out. I would definitely recommend this pet door over the plastic version for excitable dogs!

    Hopefully cat proof
Good product, easy to fit & much more robust than the usual catflaps with the rigid plastic door.
The sliding lockable door is a much better idea, the old style when locked are very flimsy & the cat demolishes it every time.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat product - pooch loves it.
My dog loves it. We purchased this one to replace and old one that had the hard flap – my dog hated using it as she did not like the feeling on her face, she is much more comfortable with this one as it is a softer touch. Some people comment that a breeze blows it open – well duh. The flap is only held in place by magnets an they cannot be too strong or your dog would not be able to push it open. If you install any dog door, you will get a draft around it as it is not air tight. If you want an airtight door, then be prepared to stand there and open your UPVC door each time your dog wants to go in or out.

Better than the hard plastic ones.
Bought a medium one for a border Colley and a Westie survived long than the and plastic ones that stay quiet frequently. Only thing is the plastic screws keep snapping. I used the old bolts and metal Screws from the hard plastic one I replaced. So don’t over tighten them.

HIghly recommend ! weve had plastic ones before with hard flap that our 2 hyper active cocker spaniels have broke – this one is amazing. fits nicely in the door and looks good and the soft plastic still closes well with the magnetic clasp – safe for 2 mental dogs flying through at high speed! Also the slide in locking flap is very good – the dogs can see its closed so dont try to barg through!!! and is also much more secure from a security aspect. Good buy!

Finally a door strong enough for our dig
We use our petdoor for our Parsons Jack Russell. He s managed to go through a door every 6 months but this one might finally be the one. The flap is strong but silent and because its flexible seems to absorb the force he crashes through it with. Sometimes the magnetic strip doesn t close securely but not a big issue. So far very happy and you can get spare parts.

Best Buy dog flap for dogs that don't do dog flaps
Brilliant dog flap. Is so much softer on the dog it’s not a hard plastic that they are running into to get out it’s a nice flexible flap and easy to fit. Probably really good if you have a pet that doesn’t like using a a dog flap , it’s so much less offensive and not as noisy either.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGood product but could do with stronger fixings
Great dog door, perfect size for the mixed breed pup with space to spare. She’s a confident little girl and was happily bounding through it within hours.
Now the less good bit, the manufacturers, in an attempt to make the door suitable for fitting into various thicknesses of doors etc, provide thin plastic fixings that you trim off any excess. Good idea in principle but they really need to be sturdier. The head of one snapped during installation despite being very careful not to over tighten. The door is currently attached with the remaining 3 fixings & t he friend who fitted the door is going to get some long 1/4″ bolts and swap them to make it more secure.
Overall happy with the product but fixings do need beefing up a bit.

Very pleased with this product. Far better than any other door flap I have used for cat and dogs. The others seemed flimsy and never lasted very long. Jack Russell’s are continually in and out and the cat did not like the others very much.

It's taller than the plastic one which works fine for me though slightly narrowe
Installed it today to replace the rigid medium plastic petsafe flap on a upvc door with a plain panel. That flap lasted about 2 years of abuse andcwas cracked badly on the hard plastic flap. It’s taller than the plastic one which works fine for me though slightly narrower. Being a flexible plastic, much like the rubber strips you see in cold storage areas, the door is pretty much unbreakable but there is a handy replacement part number on the door should the unthinkable happen.
My only criticism is the screws its held together with. I realise they must be multilength but the plastic screws into an aluminium nutsert are very poor. I re tapped them to m4 and used machine screws. If you are able to to do this or deal with the plastic screws (not recommended!) Then I would say I can’t fault this flap. 5 stars but for the screws

YOU WON'T GET IN A FLAP WITH THIS
This is a well made product unlike the one I replaced which never worked properly. One thing which I do not believe the instructions make clear is that the frame requires a panel thickness of not less than 25mm. My panel was 13mm so I added another panel in 12mm plywood inside with a thin layer of foil faced bubble insulation between the two to help reduce heat loss. The inner cover slides in channels in the frame and is a loose item. I found by fitting a small thin timber batten with a centre notch above the frame inside it is perfect to hold the panel up when the flap is open. Its simple now to drop the flap down when needed. Surprised the makers did not provide something to do this as its a bit of a no brainer really. I do recommend this item.

Really happy to finally have a pet flap for the dog and cat. They learned to use it quickly. It’s very quiet (as opposed to hard plastic doors that bang open and shut). On very windy days it does allow in some cold air but so far it’s not the end of the world.

Brilliant! We bought a new flat panel for the door rather than chop up the decorated panel. Was easy to fit and it works really well. Has blown in a few times whilst it has been windy but I just put the cover on and the kittens have to let me know if they need to go out.

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersGreat produc
Perfect for a medium sized dog – such as our 20 month old beagle.
Neighbour paid somebody 150 pounds to install a cat flap less than half the size of this product.
Thought I’d give it a go myself after watching a few videos online – after 30 minutes flap added to our UPVC kitchen door and 100 or so pound saved…!
The pack comes with good instructions and a template that you stick to your door to help you drill the holes on the corners. Then a simple case of jigsawing the rectangle area out.
Tip: add a bead of waterproof silicon to the frame (inside and outside) before you place it on the door. The flap itself isn’t the strongest but much better than the (noisy) plastic variety.
Like an earlier reviewer mentioned we placed a small step on the outside as the kitchen floor was higher on the inside and this helps the mutt get inside and out.

Took to it like a duck to water – without any issues…
