Unmatched Reliability: Philips Hue White Ambiance Smart Bulb 4 Pack
After experimenting with various cheaper alternatives to Philips Hue, I’ve learned that nothing quite matches the reliability and quality of these smart bulbs. The Philips Hue White Ambiance 4 Pack is a standout, providing exceptional value. These 60W, 800-lumen bulbs, equipped with E27 Edison screw fittings, seamlessly integrate into my home setup. Their Bluetooth functionality is a breeze to use, and the compatibility with Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Homekit offers versatile control options. The difference in stability and responsiveness compared to less expensive brands is night and day. Investing in this pack was a smart decision for a reliable and efficient smart lighting solution.
Easy to install, seconds to connect, work like magic...
Far easier to use than other products advertising similar technology. Straight forward installation and a 5 year old cold connect them. Took less than 5 minutes from arrival of the delivery to illuminating the living room.
Handy
Very useful to be able to add a remote controlled bulb somewhere it would otherwise be hard to run wiring for a switch too. Using this with the Philips remote and it was very easy to install and works well. Haven’t tried it with the app after initial setup
Took ages to connect the second bulb!
These are not as bright as I had hoped, I had no problem connecting with Alexa on the first bulb , but several issues with the second.
It took absolutely ages!
Love being able to say ‘ light on ‘ and it happens, it’s like magic.
However I really wish they were brighter, no need to dim these at all !!
Surprisingly inefficient lamps
I got two Philips smart bulbs as part of an Echo bundle at a hefty discount. They work fine, but are energy rated ‘F’ out of a scale from A to G. So, I have installed them in occasional lamps to save energy.
It just works. Mostly...
They work. And work well with alexa.
But they will occasionally frag out and overheat, they will need unplugging to cool down. Even if they haven’t been lit up.
But that’s only every couple of months at wors
I’m disappointed with these bulbs. I have another exactly the same looking (only E27 type) white Philips bulb where I can change to different shades of white (temperature) too, not just brightness. These bulbs can only do soft white in different brightness and because they’re soft white, they do not look very bright even at 100%.
My other Hue bulb can change themes and when I put i.e. concentrate on, it looks A LOT brighter.
Secondo me ne vale la pena !
Compatible with Virgin hub5!
If you’ve got the Virgin hub5 you’ll understand the problem of getting your other smart bulbs to work with the wifi. The only bulb that would work was the Phillips Hue in my son’s bedroom (which he wanted because it was compatible and interacts with his Razr keyboard and speakers with his gaming PC). These bulbs join via Bluetooth to the Hue hub which is plugged in to my hub by ethernet so no wifi is needed. They’re perfect!
The lights are bright. I just ask alexa for white or warm white and they’re a bright white like a 100watt bulb or as low as probably 10watt equivalent. I’ve now got Phillip Hue bulbs in every room. Quite expensive but worth it in my opinion. The colours (in my other Hue bulb purchases) and the whites are much better, brighter and quicker to react to alexa commands. Very highly recommend.
A dimmable solution for a non-dimmable lamp
We found that most of the bulbs we tried were simply too bright for our new lamp so needed a solution for dimming.
The Philips Hue NEW White Ambiance Smart Light Bulb solved this perfectly and now we have app controlled brightness to suit our needs , with power off or power cuts remembering the last or saved brightness setting.
The new Candle effect on the Hue App is just the cherry on the top.
I love i
I love the colour possibilities and integration. Also I don’t need a bridge to link to phone and AI, as I use only 1 bulb. Very practical.
Lights on lights off - simple
These make life so easy. Take literally seconds to set up, the whole process is automated and works first time. All lights now linked to each selectable and re-namable zones so you can turn all the lounge, bedroom or whatever lights off with a simple Alexa command or via the app. The 800 lumen 60w lamps are ideal for table lamps and background lighting. Suggest 1100 lumen 75w for main ceiling pendant lighting. Warm light is just that, warm not cold white. Ignore reports they emit a yellowish light – it’s impossible to notice unless you place one next to another. Chances are you’ll want all the same or it defeats the object. Expensive, but intelligent and genuinely useful in the real world – no more spilling coffee trying to reach for a light switch with hands full. Also good for confusing the dog 🙂
Greatest thing ever invented!!
Bought for my daughters room
She like to sleep in the dark so perfect for her to ask Alexa to put the light on when she gets up in the night for the toilet!
So far so good
bought this with an echo show deal. Not configured on show yet but the phone app is great lovely to manage light in bedroom.
Cool product, love the dimming!
It was a bit confusing to setup at first as it said not to turn the light on.
But when it wasn’t turned on I couldn’t find it on the app on my phone.
I then turned it on and was able to set everything up very easily.
Overall cool product.
Climaxe
I love this!
Where have I been? I’d heard about these bulbs, but wasn’t interested in any more gadgets. On a whim I ordered along with a new Echo Dot 4th generation on a Black Friday deal. Because I was purchasing the Echo Dot, the bulb was only 2, if bought together. I thought why not, it’s only 2, I got nothing to lose if I don’t like it. Well, I love it, it’s brilliant. My kids are jealous. I use it in my bedroom. You can still use the wall switch as normal aswell. The only thing is the energy rating is an F. But that aside, I would recommend it. It’s very easy to set up once you download the Phillip Hue app. I’d love to have more around the house in different colours but as these bulbs are not cheap I’ll think about it. Also you need to have a bridge, which I’ll have to get my head around first. The bulb is white and when set at 100% is a bright soft light. Likewise when used at 50%, 25% etc, and it’s just a lovely glow. I have a bedside touch lamp, but this is so much better especially on a lower %. Would definitely recommend, especially for those who are disabled, older aged adults, hands full of shopping or just being lazy. Let Alexa do the work for you.
Philips Hue White Smart Bulb - good lighting for lamps at 9w LED
Update to my first review, below…
I bought a second Philips smart bulb, this time a bayonet fitting rated at 15.5 LED (100w equivalent) for my main living room ceiling light. This is a room that does not receive much quality daylight and so a bulb is required for most days.
I have to say that I was overwhelmed by the quality of this Philips 15.5 LED bulb. The light it gives off is whiter and clearer, and it is far more powerful than the original 100w equivalent LED that it has replaced. After checking, this Philips bulb has a higher lumen value which, naturally, affects the light output. Indeed, it is so much brighter that I have it set dimmed by 10% and it is still much brighter than my old LED in that position.
Obviously, the bulb linked to Alexa seamlessly and, whilst I still feel these Philips smart bulbs are over-priced, given the huge improvement to my room’s lighting I am glad I invested in this bulb.
Original review follows…
A Philips smart bulb rated at 9w LED (equivalent to 75w).
This is a neatly designed bulb that fits a lamp perfectly. The light itself is very bright when on full, but it is a warm light, rather than a cold one, which is ideal for living rooms and bedrooms.
Setting up with my Alexa Echo was simple. First download the Philips app as per the instructions and then link the bulb to the Alexa app. Job done, and only took a few minutes. Alexa controls the lamp now with no issues at all, on or off, increase or decrease brightness as required.
My only real issue with this product is the price, it is far too expensive for what it does, especially when the market is now flood with much cheaper smart bulbs that do the same (and more). They might be a little more complex to set up as smart bulbs with Alexa but the results are the same. If the Philips bulbs were more competitively priced I would certainly buy a lot more but, at the moment, I would be wary of continually spending so much money on a 9w LED smart bulb.
A configuração é mal explicada
-Ligar a lmpada e esperar 1 minuto

Prese insieme a Echo dot ( 49€)
Easy to set up with the app, not so flawless with Alexa
These are expensive compared with unbranded alternatives, but I’d have connection issues regularly with the cheaper versions, so I though I’d try Phillips.
Given these are 5x the price, I’d hoped they’d take some pain away. Connecting with the Phillips Hue app was easy.
Then getting them assigned to a particular Alexa device was as easy as saying “Alexa, find discoverable devices.”.
Well, it was if I only needed to do this once. Twice it lost the connection after a few hours.
Third time was the charm and since then, everything has been fine.
Awesome bulbs, easy to control via app or Alexa
These bulbs are fantastic. I’ll admit it, they’re really pricey and the market is flooded with similar types but I needed another one to complete the lamp pairing in my living room. I had bought one to try out initially so I can obtain some dim light without needing to change my floor lamps and I was impressed, so I needed to bless the other identical lamp in the living room.
Really easy to control via the BT app, a cinch to add to Alexa and really helps me voice control the main lights. Great quality lights I am sure will serve me for a while, and be a great addition to any feature lighting in the home. Amazon Warehouse deals were also excellent too, so if you’re looking to reduce costs this is a sensible option.
These bulbs are also a bit more flexible in that they allow tuneable shades of white which is perfect if you want to use the lights during the day – warm white for a cosy night and bright daylight for working from home. Once you buy one, you might get carried away with changing others too!
Advertises Bluetooth and HomeKit, but they can’t be combined
The bulb advertised HomeKit compatibility and Bluetooth, which I thought meant the bulb could be controlled by HomeKit without a Philips Hue Bridge using the HomeKit hub of an Apple TV with its Bluetooth.
However, this is not the case. The Bluetooth functionality is only for a proprietary app and can’t even be used with Homebridge, requiring the Philips Hue Bridge for HomeKit, another 30-40.
Given a Hue Bridge, it works well with HomeKit. I can control the light with Siri and HomeKit automations, as well as using HomeKit adaptive lighting to automatically change the tint over time.
Brightness is not what a normal light of the same ‘equivalent’ wattage produces, but it’s sufficient. In the evening I drop it to 80% brightness and also use it as a night light in the bedroom at a few percent brightness — for that it works very well.
Phillips Hue bulbs are grea
Good quality and colour of light, brightness is excellent, not overstated. They dim well when using the app, don’t put them on a dimmer switch. Bluetooth connects well and in my house I can connect with a light on the ground floor whilst sitting in the 3rd floor loft room. They connect well to WiFi and integrate with Alexa, so they can be voice controlled and on a schedule without a specialist hub. I got mine when they were on sale, as they are an expensive bulb.
I think they have changed the listing of what I purchased. Mine were 9W and 806 lumen. Definitely giving out that level of brightness and as bright as many bulbs that “claim” 1100 lumen.
In terms of the bulb itself, these are typical high quality smart bulbs. Very natural warm white (if a little dim) and low power draw. The shape is very conventional so will fit in any socket, and Alexa integration works as expected, with voice commands to dim and toggle the light operating correctly.
With the addition of Bluetooth to Hue, you don’t necessarily need a hub to drive the lights anymore if you’re using Alexa. However, the reliability when using Bluetooth mode is frankly awful. They want to lose connection and then will never reconnect even after a power cycle. Worse yet, the firmware some bulbs ship with require a hub to reset the bulb so if your Bluetooth is causing major issues and you don’t have a hub, you’re screwed. So first thing you have to do is download the Hue Bluetooth app on your phone and update the bulbs. After that, they’ll work perfectly and be very reliable with the benefit of being resettable without a hub.
It’s difficult to show off the variation of colours that Philips Hue can achieve, but I’ve added a few pics to show how vibrant it is.
If you just wanted one bulb, you can control this from the Philips Hue Bluetooth app and even one bulb makes a big difference to the atmosphere of your room. I have a few bulbs in my room and with the click of a button my white walls can be come cream or even whiter with the energise setting.
If you’re just dipping you toe into Philips Hue this would be a good start, but when you see how good it is, you will soon want to expand your collection.
If you have (or get the home hub) you can set your light to come on at random intervals, mimic a sunrise and sunset, or follow a pattern, you can even add the dimmer / button to your light which is magnetic and attaches to a metal bed frame (excellent when you cannot be bothered to get out of bed to turn the light/s off.
Overall a great smart bulb that is energy efficient and bright enough to use in a desk or floor lamp as well as wall and ceiling lights.
If you happen to have found this review helpful, I would really appreciate you giving it a thumbs up – it’s a great motivation to keep on reviewing. Thank you.
Brilliant bulbs. Have them in every room. Work great with alexa. Fully adjustable brightness via app and voice command (alexa). I did once buy an off brand bulb and after 2 hours of unsuccessful setting up and the terrible urge to launch it out the window I sent it back… Only to get another apparently decent brand but unfortunately every time some idiot in my house flicked the light switch instead of using their voice, the bulb had a total fit and refused to work for around 5 minutes… So I forked out a bit more cash and bought one of the Hue bulbs.. Haven’t looked back since… I now have them in every room. They are brilliant. Work every time without issue.. So if you also have an idiot within your home that can’t get their head around not touching a switch, then these are for you, because they work straight after the idiot has left the switch alone.. No having to wait for it to reconnect… If you lose Internet connection within your home then obviously go get your idiot switch toucher back out their cupboard and let them flick away.. Also.. Side note… Only works with voice command of everyone in the house knows the name you’ve given to the bulb… Like our ‘living room light’… Which hubby still says ‘sitting room light’ and seems to think the bulbs or alexa is broken… When in fact he’s just an idiot… Who also flicks switches…
I have hue bulbs all over my house. They are a god send to me as I am disabled with severe mobility problems. I control the lights either from my tablet or Alexa. It means I can turn lights on and off more safely. I find it particularly good when I’m going to bed. I can keep the lights on downstairs and turn the bedroom light on before I get up there. I can get safely to the stair lift and into bed then ask Alexa to turn off the downstairs lights. You can adjust the brightness to your liking or use it as a little night light if you are up and down during the night (good for kids bedrooms too. I like the coloured ones the best though as I love changing the room scenes o suit my mood etc. These keep me safer at home and I wouldn’t be without them. They are expensive but I usually purchase these on prime day/Black Friday events when the deals are on which makes them more affordable. If I’m ever worried about intruders/noises in the night I can ask Alexa to turn all the lights on and the whole house is lit up like a Christmas tree, including the garden lights front and back.
Easy and convenie
These were very easy to set up with my Alexa, as soon as I installed the bulbs Alexa picked then straight up. Using the Alexa app I could quickly rename each bulb so I can control each individually as well as grouping them to control them collectively. As I have mobility issues just being able to switch on a lamp by voice which was previously hard to access for me is invaluable. Also two of my hall lights are on the same switch so now I can control each light separately as I often only need one on.
I’m not sure if I will replace all the bulbs in my home as some lights are just as easily turned on by the switch but for the three I have replaced it has certainly made life easier and addressed problems.
I had noticed with some other bulbs that you had to change the WiFi GHz in your home and also use other apps other than Alexa, this made set up rather complicated. This was unacceptable to me and just too hard. These bulbs may be more expensive but it was very much worth it to me to avoid this hassle.
Overall I’m very happy but of course would appreciate Phillips being a bit more competitive in price especially with the colour ones which are just a ridiculous price!
I’ve always wanted to get these & wasnt put off by some of the bad reviews I ordered the hub as well & soon as I got them they was so easy to setup & within minutes I was able to control the lights with my echo, hue app, through Siri & the home app on the iPhone , no need to get out of bed to search for the light just to get to the bathroom anymore lol, the only problem at the start was remembering to not touch the light switches to turn the light on but after a few oops moments the whole household has learned not to touch the switches lol & now using the lights with ease & ready to buy more & I would definitely recommend this especially when it has the options to automatically turn the lights on/off at certain times or after a certain number of time etc as part of routines through the hue app well worth the money
There are plenty of ‘smart lamp’ options around some of which work with the Philips Hue system and some that are more generic and I have a few. However, for ease of use, integration and reliability, no-one comes close to Philips Hue.
First off, this is a very well made bit of kit. It feels quality and it is quality – which, it should be given that it’s not the cheapest item out there.
Secondly, it just works. Out of the box, screw in and then add it to your Hue gateway hub. Takes seconds and is utterly reliable.
Now, the one thing that I didn’t notice at first is that you can use this without a hub and simply connect via Bluetooth from your phone. For me that’s not an issue as I already have the hub (well three to be honest) and use the full range of options. However, if you just want a couple of lamps to be operable from your phone then this works well.
The light quality is excellent and of course can be adjusted to suit easily either in real time or set up for a particular routine.
As for looks? Well, this is perhaps the downside of the Philips lamps. Mostly they don’t have the kind of ‘designer’ look that is suitable for bare bulb implementation. Nope, these lamps need to be in a shade for sure.
Overall, there is no better smart lighting system on the market.
Simple to connect and a nice warm traditional colour temperature.
A very nice lamp.
I received mine technically free when I bought an Echo 4th Gen.
I’ve had Amazon Echos for 4 years now and have automated many things, including light bulbs.
Until now, they have all been WiFi, working from the 2.4Ghz signal, they’ve worked well, but after changing my router, I have had connection issues, with constant dropping out, throughout the day.
The new Echo has a built in ‘Hub’, and this is what this light bulb connects to.
I must say, I’ve been very impressed. It was immediately found by Alexa (you just say ‘Alexa, discover devices’, and she does.)
I then went into the Alexa app to change the name, and that’s it. It’s now ready to go.
The lamp itself is very nice, it’s a nice warm temperature, very similar to a traditional incandescent lamp.
The beauty of an automated light bulb as opposed to a plug, is that you also have the option to dim to a level of your choosing.
It works really well and I have it constantly set to a level of about 60%, giving good illumination, without being overpoweringly bright.
Overall, I’m really impressed with this Philips lamp. Simple to connect, very good connection reliability and the ability to dim have convinced me that this is definitely the way to go.
I will now be changing everything over to ‘Hub’ control.
I hope you found this review helpful.
It’s an A+ energy light bulb and it works. Would be nice if one were able to get white light, 6k, instead of warm light which tends to be a little too yellow for my taste but I can’t seem to track any down of the smart light variety. Is it easy to link? Yes, especially if you tick the little option box to link with your account, or does that not matter? Anyway it worked out of the box and it then took me way longer to figure out how to set it to come on at a specific time with the Alexa app! Very confusing, well for me anyway. Once I’d watched a very helpful Youtube video by some chap on how to do it I was up and running. I do like the ability to dim the light and not have to have a dedicated light switch to do so and I am enjoying the novelty of saying ‘Alexa, good night’ and the lights turning off. Little things please little minds and all that. Just remember that to make them work you need to have either a forth generation Echo a hub thing or a smart plug, which of course is the cheapest option. 25/01/2021 – Had to return this as the bluetooth side of it decided not to work anymore! The bulb itself continued to work but only if you got up and turned it on/off. Amazon replaced it so lets hope this one works way longer.
Useful and clever dimming LED lamps.
Good LED lamps with a lot of tech built in. I use 4 with an Alexa Echo Dot 3rd generation. Setting up isn’t too difficult although doing it in the Alexa app isn’t very intuitive. Because they can be set to any dimmed level they can replace any incandescent lamp eg 25/40/60/75W up to around 100w or 20W CFL.
Occasionally one lamp fails to respond to a command, I think it’s something to do with the Bluetooth. Note that if you get one of these into a state where it simply won’t respond to setting up it has to be factory reset using the Hue app, so really you need both the Alexa and the Hue apps for best results. The light colour quality is quite good without significant flattening of colours although as with any none incandescent lamp the lack of sympathetic colour shift shift towards red when dimmed is odd to start with.
These are fantastic bulbs. They make things so much easier, and no its not about being lazy not getting off the sofa or bed to turn light on/off. There is much more than that.
Using the hue app and adjusting settings my lights will all automatically turn off as i drive away from my property, and alternatively my hallway light will come on as I arrive close by to my property. They also slowly come on in the morning during dark mornings.
I can name them whatever I want, such as my bedroom being betty. They are nice and bright, and there’s even a night light setting for my daughters bedroom which is great.
I would definitely reccomend.
Super simple to install, functional, aesthetically pleasing and convenient.I have just the light bulb since I don’t need the whole kit. I’ve been able to get myself in bed and use my phone to turn off the light or dim it down depending on what I’m doing. I can set a “sunset” like an alarm clock to gradually wake me up at a given time in the morning as well as gradually dim to eventually cut the light out to help me sleep before bedtime whilst i’m reading or what not. Definetly worth investing in.
Perfect All round bulb - excellent for security
These are the next gen Philips Hue bulbs which were released around Sept 2019. They now include Bluetooth which enables the bulbs to work without the Hue bridge which connects to your modem. I would recommend you have the bridge to allow you full control and add extra lights! Once you start buying into hue, you don’t stop!!
I went for the white bulb as I placed this in my hallway where I don’t need to control the colour temperature. The white ambience allows you to change shades of white. This bulb is a fixed warm white. You can still dim the bulb without buying a dimmer. The dimming is controlled via the app or Alexa/google.
As soon as I plugged them in, the Philips Hue app detected them immediately when I scanned for new devices. I have a hue bridge but these also work without a hue bridge and via the app. There are some limitations without the bridge such as software updates and the number of lights you can have.
These lights are bright, at 800 lumen.
I have set a timer – sunset to sunrise via the hue app so these come on automatically and turn off at sunrise. Helps with security.
I have a small bedroom but had no light to get to the bed without bumping into things but with my Philips hue I just ask Alexa to switch my light on, climb into bed and ask her to switch it off – no more bumping into cupboard handles or the wooden bed frame – would recommend as its very easy to set up I’m 73 and I did it!
As these bulbs were advertised with the bluetooth functionality, I had hoped that I would be able to use them without the hub. Unfortunately, the bluetooth does not work unless u are directly underneath the bulb! It became a unless feature. I ended up having to fork out for the hub.
In addition set up was painful.
Having said that with the hub, the bulbs are reliable. Fits well. I love the ability to dim. The colour selections are vast and beautiful. Works well with google and alexa
The bulb is excellent if you own a bridge. Not bad with over Bluetooth, but lacks many of convince features. With the Hue BT app I can control brightness and configure presets. I can also control the brightness for when I turn it on via the good old dumb switch. There no rooms, scenes or anything else. There is voice assistance integration, but I couldn’t configure it with Google Home. Kept saying device not found. All in all, great if you only have 1 or 2 rooms. The bulb is bright enough when you need it.
I bought it in bundle and I did not pay attention there is two different type of hue white.
AMBIANCE:
CONS
-cost 50% more
PRO
-you do not need to chose 2200K-2700K-3000K or 4000K bulb, you can set up later
-you can switch between nice soft or bright color as needed
-you can use as a night light because dimms down to 1% (with basically 0 energy usage)
-more efficient, only uses 8.5W instead of 9W for the 806lm
The light is warm, very good, like an old 75W bulb, but not as bright as a “modern” 72W (=100W) halogen, I also tried out an old 20W fluorescent, now I just call it “the boss” 🙂 (but that needs few minutes to warm up)
Connectivity is brilliant: does not need a bridge, just a modern echo dot (say:”Alexa, discover”) (but also works with a single phone thru bluetooth far from any internet connection). I deduct 1 star because only can dimmed between 20-100%.
I had some connection problem using bulb with different firmware, there is an update to install int “hue blutooth” app.
Bought this bulb to use with my Amazon Echo. Had previously used cheaper WiFi connected bulbs, but the light often tended to be quite sharp and uncomfortable; so I am glad these Phillips Hue bulbs no longer require you to buy the control bridge!
Connecting was seamless and couldn’t have been easier – simply installed the bulb, and Alexa straight away said that a new light was recognised – then just went on the Alexa app and named the lightbulb. That was it!
Light is nice and comfortable – I like the ability to dim the bulb, so can ask Alexa to “turn the light down to 50%” etc. Also able to add it to routines on the Alexa app; e.g. automatically turning the light off when you say “goodbye” etc.
Would recommend.
I have several smart bulbs and I have to say this one stands out. Out of the box it is mega simple to install (using Echo anyway). Soon as you put bulb in and switch on my Echo dot picked up a new device and installation was over in a minute or two.
Having these bulbs do not require a hub, they are dimmer bulbs so, in our case, we turned our main living room lights into dimable (words?!? Lol) without changing our light switches.
Works with the Philips app and/or Echo so Alexa can control your lights on voice command.
Phillips Hue command a high price, but for me you get what you pay for. I recommend this bulb but would recommend you keep an eye out for sale offers which seem to come up quite often. I managed to pick up half price offers so jump on them when they come up.
There is one con, if it is one, that’s having to train yourself not to switch the light switch off or the obvious outcome is you can’t control your bulbs using app or echo … this took a little mind training on our part and occasionally we forget. It’s not a big deal really, just means you are back to an old fashion manual switching on and off of your lights … the hardship!
But with extreme confidence.
This product is perfect!!
I was surprised to be honest about it.
I initially saw these were screw in bulbs then looked at the cost of changing my old bayonet ones… when I stumbled across this one.
It’s perfect and it makes life so much better in the bedroom.
I am no longer left to get out of bed when the mrs refuses to switch the light off 🙁
This was bought to go with an Alexa but she has it connected to the s8 by Bluetooth
Set up was simple and using it is simple.
It also works like a normal light ie from the light switch in case the app user is out the house and you think you will be stuck in the dark
We are intending on replacing every bulb in the house with these as it’s simple setting them up and once you have a smart light you won’t regret it .
It has three main settings bright dimmer and nightlight but you can set your own preference.
This one is only white but I have noticed you can buy for a bit more coloured ones.
I’d say go for the coloured ones as you will have more fun with them rather than the white.
These are excellent !! Buy one immediately
Update now connected to echo dot gen 3 and was simple to set up.
Great. Make sure you have a Gen3 dot or a gen2 echo and above and they will run out of the box on their own. Plug them in the socket, switch on the light switch. Pop over to your Alexa app, there they are. Less than 30 second set up. Its literally like changing a bulb. A nice warm yellow white light. Same as a normal bulb colour. Not a white white
You can name bulbs individually, I have Sharron and Keith. I can tell Alexa to turn on Sharron and Keith to turn down. Go well with my plug (Balthazar)
Happy days! My life is easier, and you should buy them too…
Have you bought them yet?
They are in your basket you say?
You should click buy now!
I was put off ordering by reviews saying buyers had received two bulbs about 5/6w. I asked a question about this but due to lack of answers in the first couple of days I went ahead and ordered anyway on the basis that I could send them back if not as described.
I received 2 bulbs each stamped 806 lumen, A60 9w, 80mA 2700k.
This is not the 10w claimed in the specification panel but these 9w bulbs are much brighter than the 11w bent tube eco bulbs they were replacing. The replaced bulbs were about 3/4 years old and I understand the older tube eco lights do deteriorate after time but I’ve always hated the miserable dull yellowish light they give off so replacing the bulbs was a priority when I bought the house a few weeks ago.
LUMENS
I have read articles saying we should be judging eco bulbs on the lumens and not the wattage. But even then it’s not that simple as you have to look at “useful lumens”. Lumens are a measure of all the light a bulb emits including to the sides and on to the ceiling. The shape of this bulb probably increases the useful lumens by directing the light down and less to the sides and above. They seem better than the older shape.
Regardless of technical complications these give an extremely good clear light to my rooms and I am more than happy with them.
If you are replacing older bent tube 11w bulbs you are going to be very pleased with them.

I have a Hue hub and have not tried controlling them direct from Alexa.
COLOUR TEMPERATURE
The 2700k is a measure on the kelvin scale of the warmth or coolness of the light emitted. You can find charts of various k ratings for light bulbs. Those older tube eco bulbs must have bern really low on the scale. I have always hated the miserable depressing yellow light they gave off. Perhaps they have improved over time but I still disliked the light of the ones in my new house which is only 3/4 years old.
I have previously tried bulbs with bright white cornrow LEDs but the harsh blue light they gave was just as awful in the opposite direction. These bulbs seem a good compromise.
I do prefer a clear white light in the kitchen and had LAP white spots in the kitchen of my last house. Replacing the kitchen lighting is my next task in my new house.
In the past I did try bright white spots in the guest bathroom and guests really hated them. Horses for courses!
Fantastic lights that work very well as described. They connect straight away to any Bluetooth phone.
Please note you don’t get any of the automation features unless you hook them up to a Hue Bridge.
Also they are simple bulbs. Even with a Hue Bridge you cannot change the “whiteness” of the bulb If that makes sense.
I’d suggest for anyone dipping their toe into smart bulbs to go for the hue bridge pack. The lights that come with it contain more features.
