Bosch has always been my first choose when it comes to hand tools. Bought this to do a lamination flooring and it was a perfect choose once again.

Did research. Happy with this, seems sturdy, used it a fair bit..perhaps not on ideal wood situations either..and copes..a blade did break..bought some others. Yes, seems ok..a nice quality feel..happy with this purchase for the price but havent tried others to really compare..but yep, would recommend.

I’ve used my Bosch PST 700 E Compact Jigsaw for months now, and am so glad I bought it. Forget about Laser guided jigsaws, this compact saw cuts accurately without any fuss. More than pleased with my purchase.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis Jigsaw is first class and I would Highly recommend. I have been using Jigsaws of many different makes and price over fifty years in a professional compacity. From very expensive to battery operated.
Cuts a clear straight line easily manoeuvres for intricate shapes and clears the dust on your line.
I do however believe that more blades should be supplied with the unit even if it needs a small price increase.
I have discarded three Jigsaws in the past two years all of supposed high quality and price.
This Jigsaw has already helped lay two real wood floors and build two large bedroom wardrobe complexes without a single problem the cuts were so accurate that the units which were built to a specification needed no adjustment what so ever saving me hours of work. (Not flat pack but custom built Of expensive and high quality materials). Well done Bosch.

Well Bosch, you’ve gone and build the god of affordable jigsaws. The low vibration is great. You can also control the speed really well so you’re not just maxed out all the time meaning a better cut.
Only issue is that the lead could be slightly longer.

I needed to cut quite a few panels of 11mm OSB3. My 30 year old jigsaw was on its last legs so I treated myself to a new one. This one does all I need, seems to be well made and is easy to use. Definitely recommend.

Looks much the same as other saws, has a few handy features quick release blade and so on. the real difference is when you cut. i have used a few cheaper saws but fitted with a proper blade, the saw is just a motor to move the blade after all. How foolish i was, how smooth the cut is, the low vibration, the actual feel while using. I’m trying to think of projects to start just to use it.

my old one hadnt broken, but was blowing sawdust upwards making it a pain to use. Really glad i bought this one as it has a feature to blow the dust away. Also the clear plastic guide is superb for getting accurate cuts.

wasnt sure i was going to like the adjustable speed by pressure, but its very useful.
minimal amount of vibration when using it too.

This is a great piece of equipment without being too expensive. I wanted a simple basic jigsaw for general cutting therefore I did not require a guide fence guide or speed control. This one did the job for me.

This saw was as expected. Good tool with speed that can be varied by pressure on the trigger. The dust collector works OK, remember to empty it often. There are 3 fixed positions for shoe angling the blade 0, 22.5 and 45 degrees. You will need a cross cut screw driver to adjust the shoe. My only gripe is that it has proved quite difficult at times to remove the blade. The unit I have requires a lot of jiggling to get the blade out. I would pay a little more for a better blade carrier. I would buy this model again.

Excelllent bit of kit. Bought to sort out a decking frame and decking boards. Completed the job in double quick time with the aid of this power tool. Only criticism is that it comes with one blade for cutting wood – investing in more blades is sensible if you have a large project to complete!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThe Bosch PST 700 E arrived on time despite Amazon suggesting it might not. It comes in a handy green box that should protect the tool over time.

In the box you get the jigsaw itself, plus one blade (fast cut for wood) and a user manual. There’s space in the box for more blades that you have to purchase separately.

The tool fits both T shank and universal fitment blades, according to the manual, but of course if you buy Bosch or “Bosch compatible” then you should be okay.

Fitting the blade in is simple, although I found it slightly odd that in lifting the red movable mechanism, with the blade in place it didn’t return all the way down. I tried it with a few different blades that I had and the same thing, but in use it holds it fine and no blade has ever fallen out.

A word of caution before making your first cut: make sure the foot plate is centered and tight. Mine wasn’t and that would have resulted in a non-straight cut if you follow the marker arrow and don’t look at the blade that follows it.

I personally chose a corded jigsaw over a cordless one, because I considered that it won’t be in regular use and having a battery out of use for any extended periods of time is not good for its longevity. So, a cord was a requirement of mine. I think Bosch have been a bit stingy though and could have provided a longer power cable as this would avoid the need for extension cables in many scenarios.

The tool itself is simple to operate with the trigger being pressure sensitive so you don’t have to use it at maximum speed all the time. There’s a lock that holds it at maximum speed though, but not at slower speeds. The only other feature is the air blower, which I personally find useful. There is a vacuum attachment on the back of the tool, but despite owning a standard ‘outdoor builder’ type Nilfisk vacuum cleaner, it does not fit and so has so far proven useless to me.

I’ve not tried the footplate angle cutting yet, but have no reason to believe it won’t work. I would say that it would be better if it had two screws holding it in, rather than the single screw. Notches and indents aim to make sure the foot plate is aligned though, but as mentioned, out the box mine wasn’t.

All in all, for my light use so far, it’s a nice lightweight tool that’s easy to use. I like that it isn’t complicated and isn’t covered in buttons or settings or adjustable pendulum action, unlike other brands that — I think — overcomplicate matters. That said, is it worth twice the price of a generic branded jigsaw? Probably not, but I’d like to think that being a Bosch tool its quality and therefore longevity is superior.

fine for standard house jobs. Battery isn’t great at 1.5aH, however, it’ll suffice for simple home cutting.

  20. Ruth V. says:

     United Kingdom

It’s a Bosch. You don’t need to say much more. It isn’t lightweight but that is an advantage. Very little vibration and the smooth start-up makes accurate starts very easy. The forward and back blade oscillation makes for a fast and smooth cutting action. The blade guard can be a bit fiddly because it has to be removed to change blades. The blade change itself is very easy. I wish I had replaced my old jigsaw a long time ago.

I bought this as i have a very heavy wardrobe that i need to get rid of. It did the job perfectly cutting it up in to easy to lift pieces, granted what I am using it for is not exactly heavy work but I cant fault it, especially for the price, the variable speed gives you total control, i would certainly recommend it.

This item sits on my shelf and when needed is ready for action in seconds. Corded devices take a little longer, especially if needed to be used away from a power socket.

As a first time user of my own jigsaw I didn’t want anything too complicated. I had to trim and rip some wood for window boards and architrave so had a specific use for it straight away.

It took a short while to get used to the handling. It is however very manoeuvrable so I imagine it will be great fun using for more creative cutting but I needed this jigsaw to cut fairly straight as my track saw wasn’t long enough to rip the battens I had. In the end I was very impressed. I was able to follow my guideline pretty accurately. Considering this edge wasn’t facing out it didn’t matter too much but I loved the fact that it remained fairly true.

A worth while purchase for sure!

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI have a number of Bosch tools and household appliances and in general find their design and quality very good. This unit is in many respects very good but let down by poor design. The so called “CutControl” feature comprises a plastic clip on unit that is of poor design and becomes easily detached from the saw. Basically it’s crap. I have modified the base so that I don’t need this feature in order to accurately follow a pencil line. Bosch could have done this and dispensed with this useless bit of plastic! Other features are up to standard and very good hence four stars.

    What a great tool!
Had to buy another saw to replace one which self-destructed after many years but I’m so glad to get my hands on this; light and with vibration control it cuts a straight line with accuracy every time. Usual advice stands about only using quality blades, cheapies just bend and wobble, and great to have its own plastic case to safely hold the saw and a pack of blades all in one place.
Now have almost a full set of Bosch tools, would not buy another brand, VERY happy with this

Only used this jigsaw once so far due to having a hip replacement operation. I used it to cut a bit of the bottom of a door which wouldn’t close due to a new carpet on the floor. It handled that job easily with no problems. As it was just a straight cut I can’t comment on its manoeuvrability. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because I had some difficulty removing the blade from the saw after finishing the cut, and ended up nicking my thumb a bit, causing it to bleed. That could’ve been down to my own clumsiness rather than anything to do with the saw though?

Like the power this product has, reasonable length cord , easy blade installation, accuracy is dependant on the user these type of cutters rely on the users steady hand they are not designed for total accuracy but certainly does what is was designed for .

Excellent little jigsaw for use round the house. Well, until your wife finds wood dust everywhere and banishes you back to the shed!

I added a set of saw blades and it does everything I need. The downside is that there is no laser to follow so it’s down to your steady hand for straight edges (let’s face it, by the time you’re doing dad jobs with this, your gin-hungry nature means you’ve lost that hand-steadiness). And the vacuum attachment doesn’t fit all brands tightly so you can end up with a bit of a mess.

For the occasional job this is the perfect jigsaw. If you are going to use it on a very regular basis you might want to consider a slightly more expensive model. I have used this jigsaw on mini DIY jobs at home now. Obviously the accuracy when cutting depends on the individual, but it is very accurate and the movability when cutting is very easy. I have cut different materials with different blades and it was very easy. The overall weight of the jigsaw is quite light and lead length it’s not too bad. I took it apart as soon as I got it to check out the quality of the parts inside and see if there were any factory flaws to remove them before usage. There were no flaws, all parts are well greased up and I didn’t find any critical weaknesses in the casing that that would require additional strengthening. This is really worth the money.

This baby is a pleasure to use. Thanks to the orbital action it cuts effortlessly and is relatively quiet. I like the soft start too which adds to your control. Like most people I did away with all those pesky guards and maybe this is why the blower function isn’t that effective, such that I find I have to continually blow away the dust. Not a major issue though. Pleased with my purchase and a significant improvement on my old jigsaw.

I haven’t had any of the reported problems with changing the angle of the cut. Control is excellent and I had no problem cutting through a 40cm oak worktop. I suspect that it is well worth spending money on really good blades. The blades I purchased tended to get a bit wonky as they heated up. This could be user error. Great piece of machinery which far exceeds the quality of the high street DIY branded rubbish it replaced. Great price too from Amazon, 10 cheaper than afore said high street DIY store. Blades are easily changed thanks to the SDS system which saves loosening and tightening fiddly screws. The blade fits snugly against the “saddle” which prevents wobble. I was fed up wth cheap jigsaws that just don’t cut it, so decided to spend a bit more and this one is just great. The first job I did was to cut through a length of worktop with a reinforcing strip underneath the total thickness was almost the depth of the blade, and I expected it to be a struggle. It was so easy it took all the fun out of it. Also putting the blades in is easy, and they dont work loose. Getting a good straight cut is easier than the cheap ones I’m used to. I would recommend this, and consider it good value. The sturdy case is a nice bonus too.

Bought this specifically for the purpose of cutting a worktop to size and making a sink cut-out in it for use in the utility room at home. Even for one job it would work out cheaper that getting someone in to do it. Did the job just fine but the instructions could have been clearer, and there are pictures of various not-included accessories shown in the instructions too, which was a bit confusing (there’s no “what’s in the box” type document). One general purpose blade is supplied with the jigsaw.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI needed to cut some worktop and knew that my old Black and Decker would not be up to the job . I considered hiring a professional jigsaw but at 25 a day I decided to buy one . It’s not a tool I use a lot and I have a skill saw and mitre saw for general cutting needs. I didn’t want to pay a lot and this Bosch model seemed to fit the bill . It performed quite well , although on one cut the blade ran at an angle , fortunately I had enough material to square up the end with the skill saw . After that I only used the jig saw for small cut out jobs . Pay more for good quality blades , it makes the cut easier and cleaner and cutting laminate worktop from underneath there was no chipping.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI love this! My son loves this! It does what it is supposed to do and does it excellently. It only comes with one blade! COME ON BOSCH! Don’t be stingy! If you want to keep your customers happy, in this ‘less is more culture’ then, think! We have spent MORE and we DON’T want LESS! No matter how d*** fashionable it is to say so!!! Manufacturers and corporations and their blasted greed!
However, I digress…………………………sorry…………………………… This is a good, sturdy machine, with a guide to help. Comes in good sturdy case. If you need a jigsaw, I’d definitely give this little baby a go.

Finally got round to replacing my old B&D jigsaw, and now wish I have done so much earlier.

The cable is a sensible length. Very little vibration when cutting, thus making it a lot easier to use. Plus it is nice to have a box to keep the jigsaw in good condition.

I now have several Bosch electric tools (from DIY models to semi-professional models) and am pleased with all of them. So this item is also well recommended.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersFantastic bit of kit, really responsive variable speed, bought this as I was putting in an Oak staircase and Oak is a really solid wood to cut (hence the Mary Rose still with us) but this saw made it light work, also has an excellent guide that allows you to follow the straight line marks on the wood, really put this through its paces over the last couple of weeks and it has come up trumps

Bosch are highly considered in the building trade and this is a Great power tool. Relatively easy to use [given I’d never used one before]. I bought it to cut a cat flap but then discovered the door was plated with aluminium both sides! Gave up on that idea but I needed to cut some uPVC for window sills. Did the job perfectly. Next job: a wooden unit for the built-in balcony. I know it will be dead easy using this great piece of kit.

Comes complete with a tough box and a single blade. Would recommend you buy a box of assorted blades as you buy this.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGreat piece of kit! Sadly, my old Bosch Jigsaw finally gave up the ghost after 25 years of faithful service!

Its refreshing to know that the current model is just as easy to use, with the introduction of the ‘quick change’ blade system.

The jigsaw is easy to handle, light and precise and the ‘air jet’ system to clear away dust and sawdust from the cutting line is a boon (saves puffing away at the dust and getting an eyeful of dust!).

In short: great to use and I would readily recommend this product to anyone.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA good tool with useful attachments to allow one to easily follow a marked line. I bought the tool to help fit a worktop. To do this I wanted to use a special blade which protrudes forward so that one can cut the worktop until it abuts the wall. To do this I had to cut away a small piece of the foot in front of the blade – doesn-t seem to have affected use of the blade or the attachments, but seems an unnecessary design flaw.

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersThis is a nice tool and cuts veneered chipboard well with the speed wood saw (I am working on my kitchen units). However one major drawback is the saw does not come with a parallel cutting guide as standard. You have to buy this separately. When you have obtained the cutting guide — the case is so compact that it will not go in the case. Without the parallel cutting guide attached, I could not cut a straight line over any length to save my life! This is why I can only award 4 stars. My last jig-saw Black & Decker included a cutting guide.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersThere are lots of great reviews about this and I can only agree. So this is just a quick review to confirm my findings that its a great little jigsaw and I have owned a few in the past. I am not a professional but a keen DIY’er and quality tools are worth every penny in my opinion. The only downside is the lack of light. Biggest plus is lack of vibration which can have you aching if you have been cutting for a while, also I find your hand cramps up as you only grip harder for the vibration. If you find the blade wandering then I would say you are pushing too hard or applying too much force – let the saw do the work and have a bit of patience. Oh and do it justice and get decent blades – don’t be one of them who blames his tools when the piece is not up to the job.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWorks well and for the money is good value its not the fastest jig saw but have used it on wood up to 50mm thick and 18mm ply wood (long cuts) and steel 3-4mm thick with no problems just give it time and dont expect it to slice through as if it was butter. The cut is good and clean (suggest practice on a few off cuts first to get the hang of it) dont rush and you will be rewarded with a good cut. its a lot less energy and time consuming than using a handsaw and the cut is clean but concentrate on keeping to the line when cutting and support the work well. It may seem a little underpowered but fast when compared with hand sawing as a diy tool its great value

Amazing product. Cuts through wood cleanly and evenly and has a great battery life. I bought some long blades and cut through 50mm wood posts. Because it uses a battery that is interchangeable with other tools in the range I can take a spare and get through all the work before I need a recharge. The batteries can also be used on drills, sander, lights, hedge trimmers and a strimmer. The batteries charge pretty quickly too. It seems also to me much safer than a trailing flex whilst cutting.

Cordless tools have come a long way. Don’t buy the bare tool (without battery) if you haven’t got the batteries and charger already. It works out cheaper to buy a full tool initially.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersNeeded to do some DIY for a house we just moved into and this was perfect for all the work that needs to be done. Havent used it to redo the boxing in the downstairs bathroom but had a test run. Does exactly what you expect. Great price and a build that would make you think it was more expensive. It comes with one speed blade but I ordered some extra but the first blade is still holding up really well. The low vibration is pretty spot on, used a cheap alternative and it really sucked. Would have happily paid more for this.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have not use it yet but just set it up. I can’t fit the anti splinter accessory. It is thin plastic and will end up in the bin. There are some other plastic ‘ideas’ that will also fall of and be lost or thrown away. The machine sounds nice and I am confident it will cut straight cuts well. I would not try mitreing with it. The plastic carry case is a bit of joke- I can’t even get the jigsaw back into the case! Well I never had a case for my old one so I will keep it for a while until I know I won’t be returning it. I have a bosch drill that has lasted 25 years so I do rate them.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this tool for a specific task, trimming the length of an interior door–a difficult piece of wood on which to use a plane! It arrived very quickly as usual with Amazon and was put straight to work. The instructions were clear and everything went together easily. Taking it steadily, I found it cut without difficulty despite the aged hardness of the wood and made a neat job, cutting a quarter of an inch strip off the bottom of the door. I look forward to using it again and am pleased with this addition to my tools.

The saw comes in a neat box that stows everything well. There is only one small blade supplied with the box and it was worth buying the recommended set of additional saw blades if you don’t have them already. Overall, a worthwhile buy.

I am pleased with this product. Easily controllably and the tendency all these jig saws have to wander off the line is controllable with less speed and less forward motion pressure. A great advance on my first B & D jig saw although to have made it even better I would have liked to see the ability to swivel the blade that my last B&D Pro had (and my son borrowed, never to be seen again). It made easy light work of cutting a metal ducting, in spite of the awkward shape and my inability to devise a holding system for the work piece. I can see myself using this tool quite a lot.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe tool is reasonably priced.
    It is easy to use.
I have used it to cut laminate flooring and it makes an accurate cut.
There is a target site to help you guide your cut. This is slightly mis-aligned. I think I can adjust this with a screwdriver but have not bothered. This is a minor problem, as I just aim slightly to one side to get a straight cut.
It is very easy to change blades with the quick release mechanism.
I would recommend this tool for cutting laminate flooring.

I am no expert, I have not used anything more expensive but I am reviewing this and not comparing. I think this jigsaw is nicely balanced, you don’t get any pain using it and it cuts straight if you don’t push it too hard. It cuts angles, but this takes some practice and you can attach it to a hoover which makes it a lot easier to use and keep clean. The splinter guard is a nice idea and the cut guide is quite effective too. There is a little case under the main part which holds some extra blades. I suppose with so many things it depends on what blades you buy for it. If anyone has some ideas about which blades are good for this or maybe good value for money please feel free to post below, I’d be interested to hear your thoughts.

I bought this on a deal for my Dad as well and I recommend it, hasn’t let me down yet, but I don’t use it everyday.

Good grief, I’ve been sawing wood for thirty years and never got around to buying a jigsaw. My wife bought me this Bosch jigsaw for Christmas and it’s now my favourite bit of kit.

All my power tools are Bosch and they have never let me down. This PST 700 model is so easy to use and changing the blades is done at the push of a button. Sawing starts slowly depending on how much you squeeze the trigger and then off you go! Effortless cutting and shaping of wood and thin steel. It’s such a pleasure to use that I’ve started inventing new jobs for it. Woke up this morning to a snowy day (Saturday 19 Jan 2013) and I’m going to make a toboggan. This jigsaw will make very light work of the cutting.

I bought this as I was preparing to fit laminate flooring to four rooms and wanted a suitable saw for this and other DIY projects. I’m half way through the project and I’m very impressed. The spring-loaded blade-holder is brilliant: laminate is very hard on blades (three to four per room) so changing them quickly and easily is a bonus. The roller-guide to support the blade is another great idea. The plate adjustment for 45 degree angles is easy and precise. The 500 watt motor seems ample for my needs, and the jigsaw is comfortable to hold and use. I also bought a selection box of Bosch blades and several packets of T101BR blades for the laminate. All together, this makes a very handy, versatile tool. I’m very pleased indeed.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersUsed this item to cut laminate floorings, did a good job of them with low vibration. Quite pleased but was not so pleased with the SDS as Bosch says “SDS ensures effortless and safe saw blade changes within seconds”. After a few cuts the saw bit was stuck and difficult to remove from SDS and took minutes instead of seconds, I believe it was because of saw dust from the laminate. Not so effortless after all. I would have preffered manual screw in ones would have saved me some time.

Integrated saw blade storage compartment was handy.

    Overall a good jigsaw.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’m currently boarding my loft, and had a cheap jigsaw from Tesco to cut the boards to size. It was painful, took ages, wouldn’t cut straight and went through blades like nothing else.

I decided to invest in a ‘proper’ jigsaw and settled on this after checking reviews. It’s a really good bit of kit, easy to change blades, good sturdy case to go with it, and cuts through my loft boards (apologies for the cliche) like a hot knife through butter!

I’ve only tried it in straight lines so far, and only with chipboard, but it’s a good solid well made jigsaw and I’m very happy with my purchase. Just need to find some more stuff to cut now…

Golden Review Award: 79 From Our UsersThe jigsaw is supplied in a case and is fitted with a generous 2.5 metres of cable; the jigsaw fits in the case with the blade attached. The saw is supplied with one blade, a speed blade for wood; the case has room for a plastic cased set of blades clipped in with the instruction manual and there is also room for 6 blades in the blade storage on the jigsaw, I’ve shown that in the video.
Although this is quite a big jigsaw, compared with my previous one, it is very comfortable to hold, the rubber coating means you have a solid grip. There is no vibration and the variable speed makes a huge difference; it also has plenty of power. Blade changing is easy (they do recommend you wear gloves though)
There is a blower at the front to keep the blade clear, this worked well although it is a pity there is no light, only the more expensive PST 900 has that. I used this jigsaw to cut shapes out of 18mm thick oak flooring and it had no problem with that. As these were primarily small irregularly shaped cuts I had no need for the Cut-Control device which clips onto the jigsaw to help you follow a line; there is also a splinter guard to prevent chipping when sawing laminate.
This jigsaw is aimed at the keen domestic DIY market and as such Bosch offer a 24 month warranty.
