So glad I bought this when I moved into my new home – a few weeks before these record -breaking heatwaves! – don’t know how I’d have survived those temperatures without it.
It is very easy to put together – even for a crippled DIY-phobe like me – and works well.

It’s not noisy enough to need to turn the TV up; it has a wide angle of oscillation so the whole room benefits; and the three speeds are well-calibrated – the lowest speed is a pleasant light breeze, medium is noticeably stronger, and full speed is strong enough to blow your hair back and very cooling indeed!

The ion function makes the air feel cooler and cleaner somehow – it is noticeable, but not dramatic.

I haven’t used the timer because the remote control is so handy, I haven’t needed to. It’s easy enough to turn it down to the lowest setting before going to sleep.

There’s also a “natural breeze” function – it blows sort of at random, now slow, then fast for a bit, then off, then medium at short intervals – just like the various changes of wind on a sunny summer day. That’s quite useful for when you’re warm but not hot enough to need constant cooling – a nice little innovation.

Glad I bought it on offer for 75!, but I’d be happy to pay full price too. Highly recommended.

I have read the reviews on this fan I have to say so far I,ve had no problems at all. It was well packaged and it arrived a week early as promised. I feel the sleep mode is fine. Can you use the ioniser without adding any fragrances to it?

At first I had a delayed delivery date but customer service dealt with this immediately. I now have my fan which look very smart and is quiet. Yes. there is a noise, as some have reported, but I would expect some noise from a piece of equipment that has a fan. This product has a more than acceptable noise level.
The remote control is small and works when the receptor is facing it but this only takes seconds.
It has a blue display which shows room temperature and can be turned off if need be.
It has an ioniser and a section where you can add room fragrance, which I haven’t tried yet but am looking forward to doing so.
I am now prepared for the heatwave.

We ordered one of these for our bedroom and two days later have ordered two more. It is a great fan. Not as noisy as I expected and if you turn the lights off when you are going to sleep it doesn’t light up the room at all. Remote control is easy to use, sleep timer function is good and even on high speed it doesn’t keep us awake.

    Great fan and thoroughly recommend

Lovely fan keeps our room cool even at the lowest setting you can feel it across a 14ft room. However, it is noisy so not tried it in the bedroom as yet. And the TV remote changes it, either it will change settings or turnit on/off depending on what it is already doing. All that said i would definitely recommend it if you dont mind the background noise as it is s fan and it keeps you cool

This the best fan I’ve had by far. I have it in my bedroom which, with it being tall is the best thing ever as my bed is quite high. It is worth every penny as it a
cools the room and doesn’t just move hot air about. The remote is a great feature which means you can set it up from the comfort of the bed. It’s a lot quieter than I thought it would be and I’m a light sleeper. Love the fact that you can switch off the display so the fan is completely dark at night. Great piece of equipment I don’t regret buying this at all.

I needed a powerful but quiet fan for my apartment, which gets really hot in the summer, and I struggle in the heat. I felt straight away as I unpacked this fan that it would be good and it is. I’m so pleased with it. It’s really easy to assemble and the power is amazing. It’s like standing in a fridge and that is not even the highest setting. It’s very slimline so fits in any corner really well, which is fab as I don’t have much space. Noise-wise, I have an open plan living space where even the washing machine can be noisy but this fan is much quieter and I can still hear the tv and have conversations without my brain jangling with all the competing noise. I’m so impressed that I’ve consigned my old, noisy, blowy table top fan, to the skip. I’m never going back! Highly recommended and have already told my family how good it is.

… there are a couple of things I don’t like. First is the cheap n cheerful plastic base: there’s no foam padding on the base, just the naked plastic, which of course means the unit can easily be slid around on hard floor surfaces and potentially scratch the floor while doing so. Considering the cost of this item, you’d expect Puremate to have put a bit more thought into making the base better quality. The other slight niggle is my LG TV remote interacts with the unit, so that when I turn the TV on with the TV remote the fan’s Swing function activates.

Well my old fan had a mind of its own, so I felt it is time to invest in a fan, that would do me justice for my bedroom. I love the height the fan has as it’s perfect for bigger mattresses and I liked to know what temperature my room was, which was a great display feature added on the fan. Also the 3 speed modes were just enough for me as I like to sleep between speed 1 and 2 were the other 3 modes were great too. Along with that it had an Air purifer feature which I truly felt was a bonus. You could have the fan to what ever setting you like and still have the air purifier on all at the same time. If your scared on a night the temperature display feature has a soft blue night light that you can leave on or take off. I’m so pleased with my purchase…..!

Looks good in the room. Has several modes for the breeze for which you can also alter the fan speed.
Displays the room temperature. The display can be turned off if the light disturbs you.
Greatest feature for me is the remote. No more getting out of bed to turn on/off or alter the fan speed.
Does generate some noise which is to be expected but not overly so.
I had the fan in black which looks very stylish

It is quite a size so becomes a “feature” in the room. Effective on lowest power setting in the 22 x 14 foot room we used it in. Definitely capable of working in larger areas. It is also quiet when working and oscillating but not silent. The issue we had is a weird one. Our Amazon Fire Stick controller is able to switch the Oscillation on and off! More amusing than annoying but worth mentioning.
Overall I like it, the better half thinks it is a big black eyesore! But it works.

Absolutely love this fan. It makes a big difference to a hot, or stuffy, room and the sleep mode and different settings really do help. Given its size it is relatively easy to move. The only real con I’ve found is that it can turn on/off or change settings when a couple of the buttons on the TV & PVR remotes are used – of course, a solution to that would be to move it away from the TV.
I did have an issue initially with the stand, but having contacted Puremate this was swiftly resolved and I was very happy with the service from them.

Golden Review Award: 137 From Our UsersFor the avoidance of doubt.
I bought a couple these for the office at work to add to the current selection we have which are varied in size and quality.
I have no affinity to any manufacturer and these are my opinions based on real world experience of goods I purchased for my company.

Straight off I have to say I will do the main comparison against the Dimplex Mont Blanc tower fans as we also bought 2 of them (Argos) and they are broadly similar in price (at time of purchase) and design.

Unboxing and setting up the Puremate was painless enough with the base being 2 parts that locked together and then just screwed into the base of the fan. Honestly, 5 minutes and you are done.

The Dimplex was hard work just getting it out of the box with parts taped to the inside of the box!
Then came the same process of fitting the base to the fan. Suffice to say it was much more fiddly and frustrating.

When done the difference in perceived quality was quite noticeable.

The Puremate felt far better built and had more substance to it.
In comparison the Dimplex felt flimsy and I was still cross with how awkward the base construction had been.

Now the real test, how they actually work in moving air and making an office environment less like a Turkish bath!

Both have displays with signs for the various functions, which look impressive but most of the time you want simplicity on switching it on and changing fan speed.

For ease of use it is the Puremate that wins out again. It is simple to see what you want to do.
The Dimplex uses symbols that are not immediately obvious, but once you figure them out it is OK.
Oh and the Puremate has a temperature display, which is not really useful, but I like it.

One area in which the Dimplex does win is the brightness of the display.
Others have commented on just how bright the Puremate display is and they are quite right!
The display is bright in a well lit office, in a bedroom it would almost negate the need for other lights! Someone really needs to add in a dimmer function or order lower rated LED’s for the next product run.
In comparison the Dimplex is bright enough to be seen, but not distracting.

The performance is where you really notice things.
The Puremate is simply streets ahead when it comes to shifting air and it does it quietly too (relatively speaking).

    As an aside:
The key thing to remember here is that a tower fan won’t shift the same volume of air as a pedestal fan. That is simply down to the design.
What it will do though is it will be more discreet (no blasting your face here) in the way it moves the air and is easier to place.

The Puremate just has more surface area than the Mont Blanc and a more powerful motor (60w compared to 40w in the Dimplex). The 2 combine to deliver a noticeable difference.

Both are very quiet in operation and do not give that annoying creak as they oscillate that some fans can!

The remote controls on each are simple and effective although both would benefit from having the ability to turn off the damn beep every time you change something.

Overall I am impressed enough in the Puremate that I will be buying a couple for my home even though the price makes the wife question my sanity (although her choice of words was maybe a little more direct).

The Dimplex overall was disappointing when compared to the Puremate.
However, had I just bought the Dimplex I would have been satisfied I suspect. It is good enough at what it does, it just does not do them as well as the Puremate.

    Finally.
I, like many people, rely on the (genuine!) reviews when I make purchases
I am putting quite a bit of time into reviewing the things I buy on Amazon to assist people in making informed decisions.
That “Helpful” button below this (and all) reviews.
Could you please click it if this review has helped you?
That way I know I am doing this right and the time is not wasted :).
    Thanks

I recently purchased 2 of these tower units. Very easy to assemble the base onto the unit, took about 5 minutes each. They are extremely effective at all settings – not sure whether the “ioniser” does anything, but it’s a nice idea if it does! They were an absolute life-saver in the recent hot spell – I would highly recommend these units for aerating an average-sized room. Great product.

Easy to assemble with good looking black finish this fan works well with 3 speeds and quiet even on the max setting . This is as efficient as my Dyson at a fraction of the cost. The only thing that stops this getting a maximum rating is the remote which can only be described as cheap and nasty but as the controls on the unit are easy to use it’s not an important consideration for me

  41. Anonymous says:

When I received the fan, it was easy to assemble and very quiet, but the remote control didn’t work unless I held it very close to the sensor. I contacted the company and they immediately sent me a new remote. This didn’t solve the issue, so they then arranged for a replacement fan to be delivered. As I’d already recycled the packaging, they arranged for the courier to wait while I put the old fan into the new box.

The replacement fan works perfectly, very quiet and tall enough for the breeze to reach me when I’m in bed. The three speeds are perfect for getting the temperature just right in the room. It oscillates at just the right speed and doesn’t cause any additional squeaking or rattling like my old fan. My only minor quibble is that the lights can be turned off when the fan is running, but come back on when you turn it off. I sleep with the lights off, and if I wake up in the night feeling cold and turn the fan off, my bedroom is filled with bright blue light. I have covered the lights with black duct tape to fix this issue, so it’s not a huge problem, but the design would be better if the lights remain off until switched back on again, regardless of whether the fan is running or not.

Just to add, the customer service and communications from this company have been excellent. They responded really quickly and made getting a replacement so easy. Thank you!

Very easy to put it together this last two days we had a heat wave but this fan made a quick work of it just like an air conditioning so strong you have to stop it spinning and point it away from you or your family it can easy freeze you even on a hot day no wind perfect choice.

Also the noise some people are complaining I can’t ear on my device is quiet then all the Dyson my friends and family have by far Dyson are much louder, air this can push is insane you have to experience for your self . If you don’t like this fan then your only choice is an air conditioning system enough said

Golden Review Award: 42 From Our UsersThere are loads of in depth reviews here so i thought id keep this simple.

Pros. It is more powerful and quieter than the original Dyson bladeless tower fan. I have compared them side by side and this fan is 1/4 the price with more functionality. I was so impressed i purchased 4, and still had some money left over compared to 1 Dyson purchase. Easy to assemble, up and running in less than 5 mins, you just need a medium size Philips screwdriver to screw 4 screws into the bottom of the unit to attach the foot. Remote battery included.

Cons. Remote control operates on the same frequency as Apple TV boxes. Be prepared for remotes from both devices to interfere with each others operation. Selecting a film on itunes just turned my fan display off for example. Annoying but nothing that a slight room rearrangement wouldnt resolve. My fan currently sits a few feet from my Apple TV, hence why im having this problem. The “natural” wind simulator is a pointless gimmick. The stop start of the fan is annoying and distracting. Whirr. Stop. Whirr. Stop. Whirr. Stop..you get the idea. However this isnt a huge problem, i just keep the fan on “normal” mode and select the speed i want.

In short, buy it. You wont be disappointed.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWe’ve had this for nearly a month and are quite happy with the fan. It arrived in less than 24 hours on a Sunday during the very hot weather and we were keen to get it working as two of our old fans had stopped working,

It was well packed with the minimum of padding and needed only very simple steps to fix to the base. All the plastic mouldings were accurate an the two halves of the base clipped together easily without needing and presuading. Fixing the base to the body of the fan was straightforward and only needed 4 screws.

As soon as it wss switched on it worked as efficiently as we had hoped. Still not sure that we can really notice much effect from the ‘ionised’ option.

The swing option works fine though it can be a bit creaky – but it is quieter than our other oscillating fan.

The display is quite bright but can be switched off when the fan is working, but switches back on when the fan is stopped displaying the temperature – this could be annoying if used in a bedroom and you don’t want any lights showing at night. Of course it can be simply unplugged. Bear in mind that if you want to use the remote control the fan has to be powered sothe display will show when it’s not blowing.

The remote is a useful addition and gives easy control. We wonder if the remote control receiving electronics are made by Samsung as we soon found out that when changing channels using te number pad on our Samsung TV remote it also changes the fan settings – if we change to the Dave channel (157) on the TV the fan also changes speed and turns the display on the fan off. We now just (try to remember to) use the channel guide on the TV remote rather than the number pad.

Overall we are very happy with the fan.

They seemed like a company that listens to its customers and makes changes accordingly. It was easy to set up if a little unsteady on its base. The fastest speed is still very slow and barely moved the air round. However you can turn the light off which is a very necessary feature. Moving it into the bed room for night time, I duly set it to the sleep mode and it did say in the instructions that it would cycle through the various speeds . This is super annoying and sounds like a car constantly revving. I immediately changed it to natural mode and set it on medium speed and turned it off. The timer will only allow you 8 hours. Maybe this is a safety feature, but imagine my surprise when at just before 5 am the whole unit lit up and turned off. It was still dark outside and woke me up! not the noise of the fan but the light!!! This needs to be fixed A longer time and it not coming on when it has turned off would be great features to add. In this extreme heat I have been going to bed early and waking up early but I would like it to be a natural wake up, not a massive blue light in your face. Fix these little niggles and you would have 5 stars from me.

Delivered within 24 hours I was able to assemble the fan quite easily. Just what I needed for the current weather. Not too noisy. Didn’t need to turn the tv sound up, even on full blast. Great idea that the lights can be turned off in sleep mode. Love the idea that the warranty can be increased if you register with the company. Definitely value for money.

    Does the job

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWorks perfectly we purchased two of them last year and run them almost constantly with no problems. I’ve seen a few reviews that say that a problem at night is the brightness of the light coming off of it these reviews are mostly false as the controller quite literally has a button to turn the light off without turning off the fan.

The only downfall I’d say is the supposed aroma filter thing doesn’t really do anything tried it the first week and honestly didn’t smell a thing but that won’t make me change my star rating from a 5.

Amazon also seems to have put a category in the star ratings for warmth? Not to sure why so ignore that as these fans aren’t really used to push any type of warmth hello? A fan is used to help fight warmth.

An average product. The fragrance tray doesn’t work to be honest and it’s a bit pricey but the customer service is amazing and it does the job

Great fan with multiple settings. So much quieter than a blade fan and some great functions including ioniser and timer. Also like the drawer to put essential oils, I use lavender and camomile at bedtime. Love the fact that I can operate it without having to get out of bed via the remote control. Have had it two years and never lets me down in the hot weather. Also very good service from Puremate.

Great fan. Chucks out a really good breeze when on full blast. We normally have it on the second setting which is plenty. The light off feature is great but it’s a shame it only works when the fan is in operation. The only issue we have had is some buttons on our tv remote have an effect on the fan pressing 1 makes the fan speed change and 7 turns the rotate on and off.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersAfter reading reviews on many other fans I decided to go for this one. It was from a company I’ve never heard of, and they were fairly new. So it’s always a bit of a risk. However, I’m delighted to say that the product came exactly as described, was very easy to set up, and only the assembly of the base is required. Screws are provided, and it is all self-explanatory although instructions are included.

The aroma drawer was a little tough to get out, and when I pulled on the drawer to open it, a small section of the front fascia cracked. So I would urge caution when pulling this little drawer out and perhaps support the lower part of the fascia when you do. I contacted customer support to ask them about this because I don’t feel I was heavy-handed, and I don’t feel it should’ve cracked.
I can’t praise the customer service highly enough, and in particular Steph who took my call in the first instance, referred me back to the right channel online to contact them and upload images of the problem, through to organising an entirely new replacement unit, shipped the very next day to me.

It comes with a 12 month warranty, and you need to go online and register it within a week in order to qualify for a second years warranty, which I would highly recommend doing, but with this first interaction with the customer service, I have great peace of mind that if anything should go wrong, it will be addressed very quickly, efficiently and professionally. A lot of larger and older companies who are perhaps more established could learn a few things from the customer service of this company.

Overall the fan is quiet when running in its lowest setting, and ability to turn off the bright LED screen at night is a welcome addition. The rotation is more than adequate to cover an entire room, and its design means that it fits in well in the corner of any room.
I highly recommend it, and I think that the features are excellent.

    Great all-round fa

I like the design and this fan includes all features that some other brands lack but the display lights stay on unless you have the fan switched on to blow air, then you can switch the lights off otherwise they are on all the time. I bought this for the bedroom and it is very annoying, I have to cover the top with a woolly hat to be able to blank out the light if I want to sleep. I regret buying it just for this reason unfortunately but if you can put up with lights during the night then it is indeed a nice fan.

When the fan arrived it was very well packaged but not overly so. It was the work of minutes to get it out and start the assembly. The assembly comprises of two halves of a base that simply clip together and then fits onto the base of the fan unit. The clips on the two halves lined up perfectly and I also found that the holes for the screws were in the right place too. Often you have to jiggle and fiddle to get things together, but not in this case. Once I had the parts in my hand it took me no more than three or four minutes to have the fan plugged in and up and running.
The tower is a sleek and well designed black, with nice little accents of highly reflective metal like inserts. The control panel on the fan is well laid out, easy to understand and a really nice blue colour. The operation of the fan is accomplished with a small remote control . There are six buttons and an on/off button. All well marked and with easy to understand icon for each.
I tried all of the settings and found that the low speed is perfectly adequate so that leaves lots of extra fan power for the hot summer days to come.
I particularly liked two extra features, not often present on fans. The first is the ability of the fan to ionise the air as it blows through. That didn’t mean a lot to me so I did a bit of research.
Ionising the flow of air causes any small particles in the air to become charged up, they clump together and are then attracted to the nearest electrically earthed object, for instance a radiator. This is great if you suffer from breathing problems. The more rubbish you can get out of the air that you breath, the better.
The frequency of nosocomial infections in hospitals prompted the NHS to research the effectiveness of anions for air purification, finding that repeated airborne acinetobacter infections in a ward were eliminated by the installation of a negative air ioniser—the infection rate fell to zero, an unexpected result. Positive and negative ions produced by air conditioning systems have also been found by a manufacturer to inactivate viruses including influenza. That last statement certainly makes you think , especially during the period we are in now.
There is also a small tray with a sponge in it near to the bottom of the tower. I put a few drops of scented oil in this and the fan also makes everything smell nice. I can now use the aromatherapy oil that I got to put into an oil burner. I had been unable to use this before because the burner set off my smoke alarms after just a few minutes.
So, all in all I am more than pleased with my purchase. An issue that I had with the delivery was dealt with incredibly quickly by the manufacturer, in fact it took a day to get the missing part sent to me by one day delivery by DPD, so I am happy that the after sales service is good as well as the product. I liked the Tower so much that I bought a second one to give to my son. I hope he likes it as much as I do.

Stylish fan that can fit in between small spaces for storage. Great fan settings and keeps the room cool. Not too loud. Blue light is kept on when fan is still plugged in and not in motion. We tend to cover it with a small towel. Otherwise light setting can be easily turned off with remote from a distance.

Only been using lowest setting as air lovely and cold. Tried out all settings and was impressed with how quietly this fan operates. Had no problem gearing my TV or going to sleep. Certain that l won’t be buttered with indoor heat when the weather warms up.
    Recommend without hesitation

    5 star item
And The customer service was brilliant as I lost the remote and they sent me a new one for free! Quick response and the replacement was received quickly! Thank you Steph for your help and sorting me out the remote!

Indicates 21.5Cm it is actually 31.2Cm which means it did not fit in the alcove I had planned .I did not like the fact that the very bright temp. Light could not be turned off when fan was not in use.For these reasons I am returning this fan.

The remote is easy to use, and basically idiot proof. So far very impressed with the service, the quality of the fan and ease of setting it up.

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersThis fan is great! It is good value for money, has decent power and is nice & quiet.
The Aroma function is a nice touch too.
The temperature display is a little annoying but I guess that personal opinion – You can switch this off when the fan is operating but frustratingly not when it’s in standby mode, so simple fix is to switch it off at the wall 🙂
Overall, I’d recommend and it looks good too.

    Great Fan, Good Value

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersThe first fan I received was with no light feature remote, so I contact The the seller as the light was too bright so I asked if there was away of turning it off, they said they had a new version which they were happy to swap for me, the seller has been very helpful and top customer service!

I have been using the fan for a week now and are happy with the product 🙂

I recieved the new fan in no time.
    Which Is brilliant, quiet powerful
There is only one thing that is a little annoying on the fan, so the light feature. From the remote I can turn it off is great! But if the fan is not on, you cannot turn the light of the temperature off, which is still very bright. There are 2 blue lights on the fan which you cannot turn off when the fans not in use. When the fan is on you can turn all the lights off. I have found that I can cover those lights with black tape and the remote still works, so if you are a light sleeper from lights, this fan is great once you cover the lights up.
But everything else on the fan is great, quiet on low settings but still fairly powerful. I haven’t yet used the aroma feature so I cannot comment on this.

Golden Review Award: 34 From Our UsersI purchased in May 2018. Delivery from the seller was A1.

I do not use the swing or timer, as my need is for instant on/off on-demand, due to severe internal heat problems. I do switch on the ioniser when switching on the fan but it’s not usually on long enough to tell if it does anything. It’s a pity it can only be used when the fan is operating.

The most disappointing thing about this fan is that it is programmed to switch on to the Medium setting, which is too strong (for me) even at a distance of 10 feet. 3 button presses are required to get it to the lowest setting, as it goes from Medium to High then down to Low.

My personal experience, suffering from moderate arthritis in finger/thumb joints, is that the remote control buttons could be more reactive, and having to press them so many times is quite “uncomfortable”. This seemed to get worse over the months and eventually, operating it half asleep, it flipped out of my fingers and disappeared who-knows-where? Not very hopeful about the availability of spares, I asked the seller if I could buy another and to my surprise I got a very prompt reply and they sent me one free of charge, absolutely no quibble. I am very grateful to Puremate customer service staff, and to the Company itself for its policy.

Bigger than expected but works well and although not wisper quiet I couldn’t suggest that it is noisy. Might be handy for some that temperature is displayed but that is on all the time it is plugged in and is quite bright. As this is for my cinema room I may have to put a bit of black tape over it. Fragrance function is basic but works well with the right strength of fragrance. Swing arc is adequate and moves the air around in an average size room sufficiently even on the slowest speed. If there was anything negative I could say it would have to be that some parts, particularly the base, are plasticy

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersReally good fan not too noisy and taller than expected one problem though is at night the the light is really bright and I can’t see a way to turn the light off when the fan is off…. The only way the light goes off is when the fan is actually unplugged from the wall which is a hassle at night.

I am yet to try out the aroma function so cannot comment on that, I would buy again if needed

    Taller than expected

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersThe product is great. Really easy to install, with just a couple of screws that must be put in to bring the base and body of the product together. On the bright side, it’s also really easy to use and understand all the features it has. On the other hand, whilst it is more silent than other ventilators, you can still hear it and so that might make tough falling asleep while you keep it on. But overall, great value for money 🙂
