These are excellent lapel mics for use with a wireless system. I’ve bought two for my Comica wireless set, but they work also with other brands. The sound quality is outstanding – a full range with good base and no hiss. Not really possible to tell the difference between these and Sennheiser lapel mics. You can’t however say the same for Rode shotgun mics – the Sennheiser options are noticeably more sensitive.

The connectors are TRS, so they won’t work with a smartphone without a TRS-TRSS adapter (TRSS jacks have an extra ring). So don’t buy the later Rode mic if you need a TRS connection for your mixer or camera!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’m no RODE fanboy but I needed an affordable lav mic and wasn’t sure whether to go for this or the new version. Because of how I would be using it (taped to clothing) I was reluctant to go for the new version with the flat design and forward facing capsule and I am pleased I was because this go us the recording we wanted without being visible and without any sound of rubbing on clothing. I’m using it with a wireless system (not RODE) and am happy with it. I will very likely by another one.

I have used different lav mics inside my helmet for capturing the voice while recording. All other mic needed massive post production to remove noise. This is the first mic I’m absolutely happy with and is perfect for what I need it!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersDoesn’t sound quite as good as the more expensive sennheiser lav mics that I have but it does the job and sounds good enough, especially for the cheaper price point.

Would definitely recommend for beginners and filmmakers on a budget. Pairs nicely with the RodeGo II’s

This is a fairly cheap Lavalier but it works brilliantly with teh Wireless Go II transmitters.

being white it helps when miking up brides or those wearing anything other than black.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI love using these mics – brilliant quality and professional build. I heard a few rumours online saying these didn’t work with the DJI mic set, reports of a high pitched whining noise. I can say from trying these with my DJI mics I’ve had no problems at all so far.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersReally good but for the price could be better.
    – Difficult to get the clip on the mic by the way it is designed and I have two of these – one fits perfectly the other not so and the lav mic is slightly loose on the clip which is actually annoying. Functions perfectly well, is fine once worn in place but still annoying, for the price.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’m not an expert on microphones, but I have a Rode Wireless Go system and teach a yoga class. The Wireless Go works very well but having the transmitter hanging from the top of your t-shirt is a bit clumsy, gets in the way and you can get sound distortion, or lose the sound when you turn your head. Using a multi-directional lapel mic and attaching the transmitter to your shorts works so much better. You can turn your head or bring your head down and it doesn’t distort or lose the sound. It’s relatively expensive and there may be a cheaper ones out there but this works well with the Rode Wireless Go and I am very happy with it.

Initially it did not worked when connected directly with lightening Jack 3.5 mm. did a lot of research, called Amazon helpline but not useful, they suggested a return. I ordered TRS to TRRS cable—and Bingooo ,, it worked.
For use with I phone 8 and above you need TRS to TRRS cable. I have i phone 13 pro max and you need this Trs to TRRS and lightening jack as well.
    sound very good.

Very good quality mic, alot of people have said they enjoy the sound of the mic, even people who pop in when I am streaming vr games, and can sound even better once a bit of eq is added, if you want a sample of what it can sound like, rdatomica is the channel ttv (dunno if this is allowed) but all in all, the mic is great, easy to set up, it’s litterally just and aux, straight into my pc, that’s it, would highly recommend anything by rode, they are a company that knows what they are doing!

Had a generic one before plugged into wireless go and go 2. Needed a second one and decided to try the Rode one as the generic one was picking up everything and was distorting. With this, audio is crisp and no distortion on louder sounds. It is expensive but worth i

Very happy with the sound quality this offers. Also being a TRS adapter rather than the TRRS, it doesn’t need the converter to plug into a GoPro media mod. Truly amazing the difference in sound levels when you go from a built in mic to this Rode lavallier go.

Fantastic sound quality. I use mine with the Rode Wireless Go and cannot recommend it enough. Very discrete, easy to use and produces a professional sound. Does exactly what I need it to with very little effort. Great purchase and a great product.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersDon’t know why people moan about Rode, they make high quality stuff at affordable prices. People must just really abuse their gear. The audio is generally quite flat and papery but gives you a really good grounding to then process the audio in post. I’ve used this in the highest professional capacity with impressive results.

A nice small Lavalier TRS microphone that plugs directly into a RODE Wireless Go transmitter, without requiring an adapter. Reinforced cable provides better longevity compared with cheaper alternatives.

Very worthwhile adding a pack of three RODE miniature wind socks to your order, which work nicely with this microphone.

This is a must have for capturing great audio either outdoors or for when you are too far from a fixed microphone. Pair this u as I have done, with the Rode Wireless Go, and you have a perfect audio capture solution. Lots of cord, easy to mount and just works. Audio quality is great and the little deadbeat makes for good use when working outdoors.

Not a bad little microphone for the price, but be warned: it’s not waterproof. I was trying to vlog in the rain (I record video and audio separately and match them up on the computer), and came home with a bunch of silent files.

I have bought this product to do Moto Vlogging on a motorbike. I am using gopro hero 5 to do the vlog.
I found this product absolutely dream. Never misses a beat and sound quality is crystal clear. I would like to give this product 5 star.

We used these to replace the ones that came with our wireless mic kit. The difference in quality was immense, not got the depth of a studio mic but very acceptable.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersOn a one to one it is very good with very clear, sharp and good sound I relay would not expert nothing less from Rode very good build and top materials the cable is very robust and it takes a lot of beating with no issues at all, it works very well inside or outside, I use a different mic for out doors or if there are two or more of use it is very good for a one on one but for groups not very good.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersI have both this Rodelink Lav mic and the more expensive Rode Lavalier Microphone (that comes as a “kit”). If you’re looking to use Rode’s Lav mic’s with XLR or the lockable TRS connector, then either Lav microphone will do the job. Yes you will need to purchase Rode’s VXLR+ connector if you want to use this microphone with a XLR connection. The VXLR+ connection mates with the screw terminal of the Rodelink Lav mic and if that’s what you want, you could simply leave it connected permanently (suggest attaching by turning the VXLR+ adapter onto the TRS connector, permitting the screw to lock without needing to twist the wire unnecessarily).

The Rode Lavalier mic kit requires you to purchase the connector of choice as an additional purchase – regardless of which connection you want. It isn’t usable out of the box until you do. This is fine if you DON’T want to use XLR or a TRS connection and need a special connection (hence the range of 4 additional connection options). But if you do want TRS or XLR, then you’re left wondering what is the benefit of the Rode Lav mic kit that costs almost twice as much. Yes you get a pretty plastic shell instead of a PVC bag, and a few generally pointless extras. The XLR plug (Micon-5) doesn’t fit in the kit case unless you remove/modify the shelf – a stupid design choice in my opinion.

So you’re probably wondering, is there any real difference between them. Looking at the lavalier mic end, there’s barely any physical difference. They both have the same metal microphone tip and the foam windscreen is identical. The clip-on is basically the same design, the wires are both reinforced with kevlar. I’d wager that the Micon connector of the more expensive mic is more likely prone to damage than the lockable TRS connector here.

Recording wise, having both connected to my Zoom H6 simultaneously (one L, one R), there is a very slight difference in sensitivity – this one being very slightly less sensitive. Posted specifications state this microphone has a signal to noise Ratio of 67 dB, vs 69 db for the Rode Lavalier Mic kit. This microphone has a frequency range of 20Hz — 20kHz, vs 60Hz – 18kHz on the Rode Lavalier Mic kit. Honestly for recording human voices, there’s little in it, especially when using a good sound recorder. Incidentally the specifications for Rode’s GO lav mic’s are identical to this one (but simply missing the locking screw on the TRS connector).

Microphones registered through Rode’s website get an extended warranty- 2 years for this mic vs 5 years for the more expensive lav mic kit.

Numerous users of the Rode Lavalier Mic kit report permanently damaging the microphone cord by trapping it in the case. That won’t happen with the bag supplied here. This microphone was meant to provide a replacement for the one supplied with the Rode Videomaker kit, but you certainly don’t need the kit. You simply need any sound recording device that can supply power (between 12V and 48V phantom power through a VXLR+, or plug-in power, all will work).

Unless you’re using a connection other than TRS or XLR, then this is IMHO a much better choice – and you can often pick up two of these for the price of one lav kit. If you don’t need a specialised connection, you might as well save yourself the money.

A last note of caution: the locking screw can come off, so be careful not to lose it.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersA little pricey, but you get quality. Sounds great connected to my GoPro 8 Hero black via the media mod . I am using under my crash helmet for both road and trails bikes helmets. The sound is great with a dead cat attached.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rode lapel microphone

Bought this to use with the wireless go and it works a treat. Great sound quality and high quality product. A bit on the pricey side but I use it a lot and have not been disappointed
