    Excellent Audio
I bough these to shoot Yoga videos as the camera’s mic was picking up too much stray noise. The difference that using the Wireless Go makes is night and day. No external noise and really great clear audio from the instructor. A must for anyone who is serious about shooting video (especially YouTubers). I use them without an additional Lavellier Mic as the inbuilt mic is more than good enough quality.

Every videographer, vlogger and podcaster should have one!
Wow, wow and wow! Did I say wow?

A pretty much essential item for any videographer, filmmaker, blogger, podcaster etc.

Incredibly easy to deploy, great sound from the built-in microphone or even better with a decent TRS connection Lavalier microphone.

Excellent battery life, easy to recharge and can be used for all sorts of audio applications.

Don’t bother with cheaper alternatives, this works out of the box and will likely delight you.

The new supplier redesigned wind socks fit very well and reduce gentle wind noise very successfully.

Should you wish to use this with a mixer or recorder with XLR input, also purchase a RODE VXLR+ adapter. The PLUS adapter model is important, as it reduces the recorder or mixer’s Phantom power down to a low voltage. The receiver will otherwise be damaged if Phantom power is accidentally used with an adapter without voltage reduction.

    Superb range and sound quality
I had purchased a low cost wireless lavalier system but returned it immediately because the sound quality was dreadful. I went ahed and paid more for the Rode system and it is truly superb. The sound quality and range between the transmitter and receiver are great. Just don’t forget to mute sound if you need to visit the bathroom during a zoom meeting !!!

    Excelle
Super light. I would like the battery life to be a little longer than the 6 hours or to be able to get refill so that it can cover a full day of say 9 h-10 hours.

The Rode SmartLav+ mic connects perfectly, but the built in mic is very good, too.

Remember, that you need to connect the receiver to some storage device.
The package comes with a TRS to TRS cable. This may be sufficient to connect to a camera.

I bought additionally the the package the Rode SC7 TRS to TRRS Patch Cable to connect the wireless mic to your laptop or mobile phone. That works perfectly.

Good for yoga teaching on Zoom
I am a yoga teacher, teaching on Zoom at the moment and bought this to improve sound quality, The sound quality is great, and it’s easy to use. It clips on firmly and I forget it is there. There is one little block that plugs into the computer, and one that clips onto my T-Shirt. The computer immediately detected it so I didn’t need to do anything to pair them up. The instructions that come with it are a bit poor, and I found I need to buy two additional cables in order to use it with my laptop for Zoom – they are the USB to 3.5mm Jack Audio Adapter, and the REYTID Colled SC7 Cable (grey to black ends). The cable that is supplied is no good for my purposes (I am not sure what it would be good for). Luckily I found a good you tube video that explained the cables, shared by another lovely yoga teacher. Once you have the right cables, it is super easy to use. You just need to remember to charge both ends up every now and again (charging cables not supplied, but any standard charger will do).

    Best Wireless Microphone Ever had
I had cheap wireless microphone , which was taking so much battery and sound quality was awful . After doing the search ordered this microphone which is very good indeed . battery life is very good up to 7 hours , my case it last around 6 hours . Recording quality is very good , however if you are placing the mic very close to your face like on neck then you have to speak little loud otherwise it will make a distortion . Rod claims the distance is 70 m I tested this up to 80 m with no obescticlas and there was no drop of sound . Setup is very easy and it fits very well on most scenarios . Overall I am happy with the purchase it worth each penny .

Great quality - heed signal warnings!
Product is great. Lovely, small compact modules. Currently own two of them for two hosts of weekly video content, batteries have never come close to running out on a full day’s shooting.

Only room for improvement is the signal – please pay attention to other people’s warnings, the distance is totally fine but a thick coat can be enough to block the signal between the RX & TX. We currently host and film our videos as a two person job due to covid restrictions, so a few minutes spent prior to filming doing some sound checks often eliminates any issues with signal. Can often find a suitable place on person or out of shot to have the transmitters where they have a solid signal, and if you have dedicated camera operator or someone who can monitor audio it will be no problem at all. Just make sure you don’t waste a whole day’s shooting by not double checking your audio using these bad boys!

I love these little wireless mics
This is my second set of Rode Wireless Mics and for the price, are hard to argue with. The onboard mics are not the most amazing sound quality wise but adding in a lavelier mic improves it ten-fold.
Versus a more expensive option which may come with added costs such as radio wave licensing; these are great value and Id reccommed to any small or mid-sized YouTube

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA great solution for wireless recording
Ordered the Rode wireless GO and the accompanying Rode lavalier mic to go with it. The first one wouldn’t charge and was unusable. However a replacement unit was sent immediately and a courier sent to collect the faulty unit to be returned. No quibbles, no problems.
The wireless GO works brilliantly, you can use the on board mic, or use a lavalier mic, and use the transmitter as exactly that – a transmitter. On the receiving end, there is a 3.5 mm jack output, and the unit ships with a TRS lead to connect to your camera or other recording device. If using with an iPhone as I am, you need to get a TRS-TTRS lead from Rode (SC7) and use it with the iPhone jack-lightning adapter as the shipped lead does not work. I opted for a 3.5mm jack-lightning adapter from Saramonic which works fabulously and is much less cumbersome to carry and use.
I have had no issues (not that weren’t my own fault at least!) with any recording levels.
My use is mainly for video live-streaming and recording audio for a radio show that I have a slot on, and I can’t fault it. With a phono-3.5mm jack adapter I am also confident that I will be able to use it with my PA system.
It matches my Shure MV88+ for sound quality.

    Ideal for What I Wa
A great idea and so easy to use – charge them up and make sure they’re paired then off you go. Okay, it has problems if you want to walk a long way from the camera with the mic on your chest and your back to the camera but for me, why would I do that? I once used it for a Zoom meeting in one room and went to the kitchen to make a coffee and it still worked because everyone heard the kettle boiling so it seems fine to me. It’s a great design with the receiver fitting a camera hot shoe or clipping to a strap etc and the mic can be clipped to your shirt/blouse, still working under a jumper etc so people can’t see it. Battery life seems good but if you use it with Zoom I’d make sure it’s fully charged if you have long meetings. It’s a bit expensive for a Zoom microphone to be honest, but if you have other uses for it then it’s great not to have to mess around with leads and wires. If you’re a budding YouTube creator this is a great accessory in my opinion.

Good quality sound, sensitive pick up on internal microphone
I use this when videoing myself giving talks to small groups. I use an iPhone 11 with ProMovie app for camera control (recording can be started from Apple Watch, not possible with built in camera app and possible to lock focus as well). I needed a TRSS cable as the TRS one supplied is not suitable for iPhone’s 3.5mm jack adapter. Sound level is high but I edit this down in iMovie when editing the result. The RODE receiver shows battery state of transmitter as well so easy to see when charging needed.
Pity sound couldn’t pass through the USB port (like Zoom recorder) as audio jack leads and lightning adapter wouldn’t have been needed.

    Fantastic neat little things
    Highly recommended.

Within my working range 5-20 meters from receiver, absolutely clear and interference free reception/quality recording.

Another upside: As opposed to wireless UHF mic systems (which may require registration in certain countries or worse, operating uhf bandwidth may be jammed/blocked in certain countries) whereas the RDE Wireless Go operates globally on 2,4 GHZ bandwidth).

For MacBook Pro and Air recording: Please observe: you will need an additional TRS to TRRS Adapter (3.5 Audio jack) like the RDE SC4 which worked fine with MacBook Pro. With a MacBook Air this simply didn’t worked while both the MB-Pro and MB-Air have exactly same configurations (OS, Midi, Sound-in etc etc). For the MB-Air a different cable i.e. a “3.5mm Y Splitter Cable (Headphone- Mic Splitter Adapter) was required.

    Awesome audio set up
Video recording generally needs a separate microphone as the camera mic is often rubbish or not in the right place. A wired mic is an option but at some point the wire will be found to be not long enough or so long it gets knotted up on everything in its way.
This is a very very small, neat and reliable method of getting your sound direct to your camera or indeed anywhere else that has a 3.5mm mic input socket ie laptop, PA system, external recorder you don’t want to carry or be seen.
    It’s a great system, recommended.

Golden Review Award: 77 From Our UsersTrying to use this mic for teaching dance on Zoom
This is a good little mic if you’re a dance teacher with a MacBook looking for a mic to teach online over Zoom in lockdown.

But it has been MEGA frustrating to set up.

First I tried to plug it direct into my MacBook. The mic comes with a cable to plug into a headphone jack and that had seemed perfect for me. I have a MacBook Air so only a USB-c input and a headphone jack. Given I needed to charge the laptop at the same time, plugging into the headphone jack had seemed useful.

Yeah, that doesn’t work. If you plan to plug into your MacBook it turns out you need a 4 pole headphone jack. Most headphone jacks are 3 pole. I contacted Rode and they responded quickly to let me know I need an S7 cable to connect to MacBook – 4 pole to 4 pole.

This should be made clear in the listing and there should be an option to add that cable, or get that cable instead of the standard cable, Rode! MacBooks are very common!!

    So I got that cable.

Now I could plug it in, but now new issues presented.

First up, my MacBook didn’t recognise the mic as a separate input via the headphone jack as it would do if using the USB connection.

That in turn meant that once the mic was plugged in I could no longer hear my students on zoom, nor my music. And I couldn’t select microphone as input and computer as output….because the MacBook didn’t recognise the mic as a separate device.

By this time I had also discovered that Zoom will not accept 2 inputs. So you can’t play both your music from your computer and a mic together at the same time and output both to zoom.

Initially I experimented with an app that allows you to put 2 inputs together and output to zoom as a single output. But turned out the levels cannot be adjusted, so the music was too loud and the mic too quiet.

At this stage I talked again to Rode and they quickly responded to advise me to get a splitter so I could run a stereo off the headphone jack too, to hear the music.

    Yep, that’s not the solution.

Because you need to input your mic and music to zoom. You need to be able to hear your music and your students. But you don’t want to hear your own voice. And you need the ability to adjust relative sound input levels of all these inputs and outputs to get the right mix.

And that means you’re going to need is a mixing desk.

Specifically a 2 bus mixing desk. I recommend an 8 input 2 bus mixing desk from Behringer.

Guess what this mic is not set up for?

    Mixing desks.

I plugged it into my new mixing desk and it just wouldn’t work.

I called my friend who’s an electronic engineer and used to do sound engineering when we were at student tv together at uni. He advised that the issue is that mic is designed to plug directly into a camera or phone. Mixing desks are expecting a very different type of input from a mic. It simply won’t recognise your Rode Go when plugged into a mic channel.

In the end we worked out a solution. And actually this solution is perfect.

Because there is a way to plug your Rode Go into the mixing desk and get the right set up. It uses the input/output channels that are normally used for the USB connector box. And that actually allows for a better set up than you’d have with a normal mic on a 2 mic channel mixing desk because I have been able to rig it up so I can hear my students too on zoom and I don’t know how you’d manage that with a normal mic taking up one of the mic channels. You’d probably need to buy a larger more expensive sound desk so you have more inputs.

Anyway it’s taken about 6 weeks and an extra outlay on top of this mic of about 150 for mixing desk, cables and USB connector box to sort what I wanted!!! But I am finally there.

This is a bit of a lengthy review but I hope it helps you avoid similar pain and frustration if you’re trying to do something similar.

I also hope it’s been helpful in describing the limitations and usages of this mic. If you’re connecting to a mixing desk for any purpose other than mine, you’re not going to want to use this particular mic. Again, this should be made more clear in the listing.

And finally I hope this help Rode. Their customer service help was responsive (via fb messenger) but they didn’t really seem to know what I wanted to do or how I wanted to do it. I guess before lockdown they probably weren’t dealing with lots of dance teachers using their product with zoom. So while their feedback was always prompt, in the end it simply wasn’t helpful and I had to work it out alone. Without an electronic engineer for a friend I’d have ended up returning this mic!

Incredible wireless quality at an affordable price.
I was looking for a wireless audio recording solution (I was using wired lapel mics into a Zoom H1 recorder up until now). I found these and watched a few YouTube reviews so took the plunge and ordered a pair. I was initially disappointed when pairing these up with the Zoom – the Receiver seemed to pick up a low buzzing/interference. I think it’s do to with the proximity of the unit with the recording device. Either way, after some further research I decided to ditch the Zoom recorder altogether and plug the Receiver directly into my Sony A7iii. The unit is tiny/lightweight and fits perfectly onto the camera hotshoe. Lo and behold, the interference was gone. I can only conclude that there’s an issue with using these devices with an external recorder, so it’s something to watch out for if this is how you run your audio set up. Either way, I’ve found using these to be simple, hassle free (the units auto tune into one another, so no more searching for free audio channels). The only other issue is that you must have the Transmitter and Receiver in a clear line of sight with one another – failure to do so breaks up the signal and you’ll get a break in your audio. I shoot talking heads so this is not a problem for me, but if you’re planning to mic up a subject from a distance or if your subject is turning away from camera, this may not be the best solution for you. Otherwise, for a wireless mic solution, at the price, it’s been perfect for me.

Great bit of kit - as a discreet wireless mic.
The transmitter is very small and has a microphone built-in so there doesn’t have to be any extra outlay on a lavalier microphone. However if you want it to be even more discreet – it works great with the Rde lavalier mic. They seem very well-made and appear to run for quite a few hours on a single charge. I haven’t tested the range but its more than adequate for a typical interview scenario. All the charging leads etc. are included.

he APPLE of Microphones (not specialist but everything works fantastically and easily)
A NO BRAINER ESSENTIAL PURCHASE – DO NOT LOOK FOR CHEAPER OPTIONS and DO NOT THINK TWICE –

I needed a mobile microphone system and this is what the doctor prescribed – With the COVID19 Pandemic and everything gone to Teams I needed something more decent than a laptop microphone, something which could help me to move around without drop in sound quality and also use with outdoor recordings with my dSLR. This also works fine with PC (literally any computer) and just now finished recording a podcast and hearing the results – its phenomenal particularly as was recorded at a new venue which had not sound shielding and somewhat noisy at times – literally no noise was recorded and great quality through and through (satisfactory to my ears) – unbelievable !!!

    So PROS

    1. Great audio quality (This is a relative term i very well know as i play music and am not an audio specialist but i do know when i hear a clear sound) –
    2. The smallest system in the world – two small squares – no wires no clutter – vvv light weight – has replaced my computer microphone too
    3. There are 3 or 4 levels of microphone level control (only just read in manual – havent tested) – but for me is not really needed as it automatically regulates and even has memory for usage on systems – (I usually like manual things but dont feel the need with this)
    4. The RODE screen monitor is brilliant for audio levels as well as battery charge
    5. Further xpansion ability but using MICROPHONE GO to covert into field microphone or use RODE LAV GO (or something its called)

    CON (small)
    Battery change requires a specialist

The APPLE of MICROPHONES – perhaps not highly specialised (aka studio condensor microphone in a sound treated room) but most adequate for the amateur, novices or even perhaps pros looking to be mobile (as they tell me on You tube)

    Excellent system for wireless transmissio
Very good piece of equipment, the wireless link works perfectly, no latency and a relatively long transmission distance – I would say up to 20m. The battery capacity is sufficient enough for my purposes, I usually film 1-2h a day. The only disadvantage is, that you can’t connect a second receiver – meaning capturing an interview with two people in front of the camera wouldn’t work if you wanted to use personal mics. In these cases you need to use a shotgun or a more professional wireless solution, anyway, I never experienced any transmission or connection problems, simply switched it on and it works.

What can I add that other people haven't already said?
Nothing – these are legit, awesome, great sound quality (for what they are – c’mon, it’s not a 5 grand Neumann microphone so be realistic) set of highly dependable wireless mics with more features (3 step gain control) than most. A genuinely usable built in mic which can be purposed in a variety of ways with the jack to add your own choice of lapel mic. Charge via USB-C, onboard display showing levels, connectivity and remaining battery capacity. Absolute pair of bangers, if you need a wireless set up that’s affordable, dependable and of more than adequate quality for any online content and, to be fair probably broadcast quality (*would have to check if they are on the list of BBC approved hardware, but you know…) microphones then these are your guys.

    Wow
Wowser! Brilliant kit that needs no license! The mic works extremely well and will be used mainly in conjunction with my Canon kit and dji gimbal (when it arrives). The down side where I deducted a star is that it came with no user instructions so had to sit watching YouTube videos and experimenting with the buttons. One thing that evaded me was how to brighten up the Rx screen so I could see it in the sun. The ON/OFF switch does exactly that and hold for 3 seconds to toggle ON/OFF. However if you press once quickly it then toggles the default AUTO DIM/BRIGHT. However, the wind muff on the transmitter falls off when nudged and the clip connection needs to be better.

Excellent and I will be buying another set soon so I can conduct interviews without having to hold and share a mic.

Very simple to mount and use and gives great freedom of movement in front of the camera. The sound is a little thinner than I’d like. Having adjustable db is very useful. I used a mic/headphones splitter (trs x2 to trrs) to connect to my Mac (see photo). I’d previously used a 3.5mm to USB coonector but found this impacted the Rode’s performance.

    Now it's working, it's great!
I bought this a few weeks ago, and now I have it up and running correctly it’s an amazing little kit. I bought it for filming via a smartphone, but didn’t realise that the connector lead that comes with the kit doesn’t work with a phone (you need a SC7 cable for that, which you need to purchase separately). Now I have the SC7 cable it works perfectly with my pocophone (or any other smartphone I’m guessing) or ipad. It’s so easy to use and super light. I use it for filming yoga videos, so the fact that I can wear such a light pack is great. It didn’t work with my standard lavalier microphone, so I had to purchase a Rode one to ensure compatibility (bit annoying) but now I have it all working it’s fantastic. The sound quality is excellent and the range of the device is super. Battery life is also good.

Did a lot of research and weighed up budget/quality and I’d say this over indexes on quality. I use it in conjunction with a Rde shotgun mic for dual audio options. Great buy, easy to use.

Only down side is the mini dead cats fall off too easily.

Seems good but a couple of things to point out to potential buyers
VERY simple set up and seems to work well as long as you have line of sight (suppose that will rarely be a problem in most circumstances).

Was frustrated that it did not come with the cable/connector to allow it to connect to a phone. Had to buy this seperately which took another week.

Looks like it will be very good for video recordings and live broadcasts. Was hoping I might be able to use it for social chat and conferencing but because you plug into the earphone jack you get no sound. Tried a bluetooth speaker as a work around but it didn’t work very well.

It is a very funky little bit of kit.

💸Expensive but has quality audio & is very versatile❗
Great little wireless mic kit that connects instantly & automatically.
Love the convenience of it. It is small and you do not have to use an external lavalier microphone as it has one built in to the transmit unit.

Also I love that it charges via USB C, this makes my life easier, as most of my gear charges via the same cable.

I would highly recommend this product for recording pieces straight to camera.

Also if you want to you can use this product for making other devices wirelessly transmit audio. For example a great use case I have done is; making my wired headphones wireless for when monitoring the audio from my DSLR mirrorless camera.

I would advise not using this mic for live events when sound needs to be projected i.e. via a PA system as the latecy is high, so there is a delay from when the subject is talking and to when their voice is heard from your speakers.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersReliable and easy to use
I already possess the Rode Filmakers Kit which I have owned for several years now and has worked flawlessly for interviews and other media projects, but I was after a true wireless system for making outdoors sports videos etc where lavalier mics can often get caught up or become disconnected. I have been using the Rode Wireless Go for several weeks now nearly ever day in a multitude of different scenarios and conditions, I have not been disappointed.
Line of sight is fairly critical with the Go compared to the filmmakers kit and once you have lost it you usually lose the sound completely but if you maintain the line of sight I have had no problem with it over distances in excess of 150 yards.
Fortunately most of my work takes place at usually less than 20 yards away from the camera and I have had no issues so far even when I have worn the mic under several layers of clothing.
Battery life is excellent and I have filmed with it for projects nearing the 7 hour supposed limit with no problems, I love the fact that the units are rechargeable and I have also charged up the units on site via a portable battery pack when I have been incombered with time constraints or have simply wished to film and record for longer.
The units come pre set and just require charging, small, discreet and light weight they are an excellent product.
If I hade one dislike it would be the dead cat microphone covers that come with the unit, they can have a tendency to easily come off but if you don’t film on windy days or prefer to fit the Rode Lavelier Go Professional grade wearable microphone to the unit this is not an issue.

Great product. Just be aware that if you use a lav mic it needs to be good quality. I’ve managed to create some pretty horrific interference using a cheap lav mic. This is likely due to the thin copper and lack of shielding in the lav cable.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersBest purchase Ive made for Youtube
I run a youtube channel (leon angus) and this thing is the best mic I’ve ever used. for the money, I don’t really think you’ll get anything better.

    here’s why

Other mics are great and have good sound too, but this is RODE (no 1) and 2 it’s so small that it can fit in your pocket.

No need for those big packs to clip onto you, and you can use this with a lavalier mic too.

With the lavalier, you just plug it into the box that usually acts as the mic on your body. That was you can clip it on your belt or in a pocket and have a lavalier setup too.

Even if you need for 2 people at once – on mic then just place box near the both of you can your done. Or you could hold it near a mouth and done. Best mic on Amazon by far!

Brilliant wireless mike for the money.
Super small, excellent sound, really easy to set up and use, and fantastic after sales service. I have two of these and after I bought the second one I realised that the first one I had bought a few months earlier was not working exactly as it should. They are supposed to pair automatically out of the box but the first one I bought did not. It worked fine sound-wise, but you had to press a button on them both to get it to pair. No big problem, but I contacted Rode anyway and they said send it back. They replaced it for free in 3 days! I have used the mics many dozens of times for interviews, often in really noisy environments, and they work incredibly well considering how much they cost. They don’t have any bells and whistles, but I like that – I just pin it to the interviewee, plug it into my camera or sound recorder and I’m ready to go. Fool proof. If you are making a big budget production for the BBC, get one that costs 10 times as much. Otherwise use this – you won’t know the difference! Only one caveat: as has been mentioned elsewhere, they record sound a little “hot”. Just take care with the input level on your device. Nearly everything I have recorded has been good “straight out of the box” and the ones that were a little too hot I have corrected in post without distortion.

Great reviews but you must be aware of the shortcomings of this unit.
Rode have a great reputation for microphones. This is both for construction and sound quality.
This is a simple and cost-effective way to get good quality audio for your video recordings. With the transmitter being so small it can be easily attached to the lapel of your talent’s clothing to partially conceal it. Alternatively, you can use a traditional lavalier mic and put the transmitter on the talents belt etc.
The transmitter and receiver come already paired to each other and setup are as simple as just switching on both units.
The gain can be adjusted to suit most camera inputs.
The only problem with these units is that the radio frequency band they use requires the transmitter/receiver to be clear line of site especially if the distance between them is over a few metres. If the talent turns to obscure the line of sight between the two units the audio is most likely to cut out. Overall the ease of use and sound quality go along way to earning the 4* review but they are not suited to the most demanding needs of high-end amateur/semi-professional work.

    Great new produc
I do a lo of interviews at certain events throughout the year, and I’ve always been a bit frustrated with the traditional wireless mics as they take so long to set up, asking people to thread the wires through their clothing feels inappropriate. Enter this new system which is so small with a built in moc that I no longer need to do this.
Also if you are carrying everything in your backpack then this product is much lighter than the traditional system.
Sound quality I was worried would not be as good but after t=using them in a recent video the audio was just as good as my traditional Rode wireless mics.

    Wireless freedom
I love this item from Rode – it’s freed me from the camera, and delivers great sound quality when recording videos for youtube, etc. Both units are really small, light and the clips mean they are easy to handle – I leave the mic unit on the top of my shirt pocket when I am out and about.

The one minor downside is the brightness of the screen on the main unit – on sunny days, I’ve struggled to see the display, and consequently wasn’t entirely sure whether my mike system was on or off.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersGreat product but experienced static noise after one month
This is really a great product. Like really great.

It’s just a shame that after 1 month we experienced very loud static noise like there was a fault. No, it was not the Auto Gain within the camera. It was statis noise like there was interference. We tested this out in various locations, with all the same results. Eventually we declared it was faulty.

As an additional note, we did not expose it to the elements or use it much for it become faulty.

Amazon still issued us a replacement very quickly. We will see how this version fairs, I will update in a month.

To conclude: brilliant product IF it works and is not faulty.

Golden Review Award: 24 From Our UsersThis is an evolution in wireless mics
I’m totally gobsmacked by the quality and shear simplicity of this mic not only that but it’s mega tiny too, it lasts a full 7 hours on a single charge with constant use it didn’t even drop signal in my flat through very thick Victorian solid walls some 10 metres away, the inbuilt mic is really good too, I’m just about to order Rode’s SmartLav+ with an adaptor for use with my Panasonic GH5, the reason I bought this is I’m going to film a mates wedding at the end of June and this is so tiny he can just put it in his trouser pocket and I can attach the tiny lav mic to his tie and not worry about the audio quality from a few metres away. So I give this an award of 11 out of 10 😉 Highly recommended

I’m really impressed with this mic and I expect it to fly off the shelves. It’s great for YouTubers.

Although I have only owned this for a couple of days I have still been able to fully test it for my needs in different environments. The sound quality is very clear and competes well with my Rode VideoMic Pro and RODELink Filmaker Kit. It’s so small and versatile that I expect I will use this more than my other mics. It takes around 2 hours to fully charge and I have had approx 5 hours of use from it in 10-20 minute intervals and there is still plenty of power left. The battery indicator seems to only display empty, half full and full, but considering the unit and screen are so small, this is to be expected.

The transmitter, receiver, dead cat/wind muff and cable all fit into the pouch which is smaller than my hand. I can keep this in my camera bag and not even notice that it’s there until I need it. I will use this for both interviews and vlogging.

If you’re shopping for mic to improve your audio for online videos, this is the one! You won’t find a better quality mic at this price. Thanks Rode, great job!.

Golden Review Award: 54 From Our UsersExcelle
This is very well designed. The kit is small so perfect for run and gun shooting. The interface is simple and gives the perfect balance of information and simplicity. The sound quality is very good. The frequency response from the built in mike is good, especially if you place it well. If you should add a lavalier it does add to the flexibility to disguise the TX. Having tried two 3rd party lavaliers with the Rode Go I did pick up some low level RF interference – repositioning the cable eliminates this. I might put a ferric core on the cable to avoid issues.

Update: after two months of use I am loving this system. For normal interviews it is fine – and is much easier to rig on talent. But it comes into its own for documentary style shooting. I have the TX clasped to my camera ready to deploy in the middle of a location, stick on a table or near a group to pick up sound whilst I am roaming a room for shots. It is small enough not to be obvious if caught in shot – so I doubt I’d be using a traditional mike kit in such a flexible deployment mode. If I have a reservation is the need to keep an eye on battery levels. If you should let it deplete to 10% during a shoot you have to plan to recharge and that either means stopping or running from a USB power pack (which is fine as long as you plan to have one!)

Update 2: after 7 months of use this is a must have. The battery concerns are not a problem – I carry a powerpack and at lunchtime I just give both RX and TX a top up. If, in worse case scenario the battery level drops to 25% you can always run either whilst in use from a powerpack- which is no bigger than a normal TX belt pack. I have not had a single shot spoilt by transmission interference – which can’t be said of traditional UHF transmitters.
