    Update 23/12/22
The seller provided me with an update for pin 5 to rescale the output and im happy to say it worked. I now have car play and expansion for the reverse and front camera all on the original screen

I have to thank the seller for their customer service it has been a journey.

One more thing to note if you take on this project is you will need either vcds or obd11 to activate the green menu in order to enable aux for audio, and no you don’t need an aux input it just needs to be enabled.

I have updated my review to 5 stars for the box because when it works it works.

Overall I give it 3 stars as it’s a pain to set up but once it’s working its good!

    Almost…..
Your reading this because you like me you want carplay and most likely a reverse camera but don’t want to change your original screen, so here we are.

I purchased this item originally about 3 weeks back , after messing with it for quite a while to no success i realized the unit was dead, sent it back to amazon and ordered a second.

Once the second arrived i noticed a little green light and thought we were in business but nope no good. after following the instructions to a T and sending emails over and back with Roadtop themselves trying all the toggle switch combinations still no luck.

THEN…..i got it , using the toggle combination 00001000, BUTT that only allowed me to switch the display to the unit which had a very enlarged picture, see images 1 and 2.

So with this stroke of motivation i ploughed on trying more combinations to no avail, so done things fast on off quick until i got the display to glitch to the correct resolution and was able to connect my iphone with ease (picture 3 +4)

HORAY i thought , until i turned off the iginition and realised it enlarges the picture again.

So from here i contacted roadtop and told them i could switch but the picture was enlarged , they gave me more combinations and advice but none worked,

Realizing i could glicth the resolution i contacted Roadtop again and asked then to send me an update to force the resolution.
I glitched it so i could see the menu and updated ->white screen -> success ->restart -> still enlarged.

So thats where i am fresh outta ways to get it going, unfourtunatly i still have not got it working and i imagine its something small , but after buying two different boxes and exhauting customer service i have to return the second one and admit defeat.

This is a thing that should be plug and play and not so difficult, but it is , for other models it may work but for mine it half works.

I hope this review is helpful, if it helped you make an informed decision then please rate it.

    1. If you know someone that has installed one of these boxes before, that’s the most difficult part out of the way.
    2. I thought that once all the wires were connected correctly, the box would be more or less ‘plug and play’. I was very wrong.
    3. These boxes are made to get Android Auto/ Apple CarPlay working in a number of different cars, so you have to select the right toggle switch to get it working in yours. Sounds simple enough, again I was wrong. Thankfully, the person that helped me install it also has the same Audi A6 (C6) that I have, so he advised me which toggle switch to use. Every toggle switch combination that the seller was telling me to use didn’t work, which was very frustrating.
    4. Even with the right toggle switch selected, the screen would be all black (without any display). This required the seller to provide a software update link, for me to download on to USB drive, then connect to the Android Auto USB to update the box. Again this was advice from my friend of what was needed, the seller didn’t seem to want to provide the essential update for me.
    5. Then after struggling for nearly 3 weeks, when the Android Auto screen finally appeared on my car screen, I thought I had finally made it. Guess what, I was wrong. It took me a few more days to pair/link my Android mobile wirelessly via the WireAuto app.
Somehow I managed to get over the ‘this is a pile of rubbish I might as well put it in the bin and ask for a refund’ stage and kept going.
This product requires a lot of knowledge and patience to get it working, so decide yourself if you have both of those. I can’t confidently say that the seller knew the product very well, however he was helpful (but also in China, so timezone differences created further communication delay problems).
Price was good for what it was I suppose. If you decide to buy, good luck.
