Great controller with great percs – includes Serato Pro free and 3 free months of BPM supreme. Perfect features for any DJ. the card with the Serato Pro activation code did not come inside the box, but I just emailed Serato and they replied the very next day and sent me an activation code.

Ich mchte klarstellen, dass ich genaustens wusste worauf ich mich mit diesen “Serato” Controller einlasse und die Nachteile bewusst in Kauf genommen habe. Ich bin einfach mal gnadenlos ehrlich: Ich mag Serato nicht, nicht mal geschenkt und mit 100% Kompatibilitt fr mein neues Gert. Es ist sogar so schlimm das es mich fast vom Kauf abgehalten htte……Kein Scherz. In meinen Kopf wertet ein Serato Branding generell das Gert herab. Das ich dennoch, trotz aller genannten Aversionen, den Kauf gettigt habe, ist die Qualitt die man von Roland erwartet. In dieser Hinsicht wurde ich keineswegs enttuscht.
Die Audioqualitt ist einwandfrei und es gibt gengend Output Optionen
Die Jogwheels sind Top! Gutes Gewicht, leichter Spin und hohe Abtastung.
Der Crossfader ist sehr leichtgngig und tastet astrein ab. Die Channelfader sind etwas schwergngiger jedoch genauso przise. Oft sind die Speedfader eine Schwachstelle an USB-Controllern, diese reagieren allerdings so gut wie man es sonst nur von CD Playern gewohnt ist. Bei den Knpfen und Drehreglern habe ich nur einen Kritikpunkt. Es gibt keine Killswitches fr die EQ Regler, was zwar nicht dramatisch ist aber 6 Knpchen mehr htten auch nicht wehgetan. Ich mchte jetzt auch nicht jedes Teil einzeln bewerten. Alles in allen, fhlt sich die Bedienung sehr authentisch an, das Design ist simpel aber gut durchdacht und die Preis-Leistung ist praktisch unschlagbar………….AAAAAAAAAAAber…. japp, das musste kommen. Ich verstehe das der Controller das Zeichen des Teufels trgt (Serato Aufdruck) aber wre es echt zu viel verlangt wenn man wenigstens, von Werk aus, angepasste Mappings fr die gngigsten Programme anbietet? Ich mchte gerne selbst entscheiden welche Software ich mit dem Gert benutze, ohne zur Strafe dafr Funktionalitt einzuben….Was bei custom Mappings leider hufig (Leider auch mit diesen Controller) der Fall ist. Das ist mit Abstand der grte und einzig strende Kritikpunkt. Der Roland rockt auch mit Traktor halbwegs anstndig, dank der TSI die ein User erstellt und geteilt hat.

Es una buena marca que viene con un buen programa de mezcla de audio para DJ, aunque yo prefiero usar Traktor buscando un mapeo por internet, o hacindolo yo desde 0.
Viene con muchas funciones, tiene una artesana impecable, bonita y cmoda, da la sensacin de ser profesional a pesar de tener solo 2 platos nicamente, todo esto para el precio que tiene.
La puedes utilizar de forma profesional tranquilamente.

It is a pretty good controller but my main issues is I have big hands and I constantly nudge the decks because it is quite compact. Sucks that I’ve gone past the date for returning since I haven’t really started playing on it as of late. Also I had to wait a week to actually get the Pro Licence from Roland.

I bought this to replace a numark platinum FX which worked for all of 30 minutes. This controller actually works, is easier to use and has far better build quality. I am so glad I went for this one, highly recommended.
UPDATE: Upon registering the product with Roland I opened a tech support ticket and once I provided proof of purchase and my serial number they provided with with the Serato DJ Pro upgrade for free. Must be USA controller only though. All is well now.
The controller is amazing and has a lot to offer though will have more of a learning curve for beginners. However one of my main reasons buying this was thee free upgrade to Serato DJ Pro only to find no registration card and further research shows that this offer is no long available. Kind of felt burned on that and the seller needs to remove that feature. The jog wheels are nice and smooth, but if you’re looking to spin the jog wheels this isn’t the controller. The jog wheels will just stop. But this can be worked around.

Because of the current COVID-19 lock down, I now have time again after an absence of over a decade to properly indulge my passion for DJ’ing and electronic dance music. Having seen the potential for using MP3’s for DJ sets as far back as 1999 I have always found the weak link was always flaky hardware controllers — I have a Behringer BCD 3000 brought in Xmas 2007 which I hardly ever used due to problems with it and Traktor crashing during sets and its more recent lack of updated drivers and software support post XP. Before that, I had a Hercules controller which often distorted the music like a Dalek voice at random.
So, with much trepidation I finally took the plunge with the Roland DJ-202. I wanted a proper well-built semipro controller and not just a toy and I have not been disappointed. Installation (Windows 10) was a piece of cake, download the drivers from Roland and the Serato DJ Lite from Serato.com and you are on your away — more or less.
OK Serato Lite takes a bit of getting used to particularly to access one’s own extensive MP3 Library and getting used to the “Crates” previous DJ software I used just scanned a folder for music files on start up. Try to add music to Serato crates kept throwing up “you can’t do this too many windows open” style annoying errors presumably as a nudge to purchasing the Pro Upgrade and MP3 Streaming service. So initially I had to disconnect the Roland 202 to Add Music to my Serato crates and then restart the software with the controller connected. I still need to clean up and sort out and properly organise my “Crates” but it is getting there. Once I have added my Library and have got used to finding my tracks you can really appreciate the Roland DJ-202. The Serato DJ-Lite software just does the job and works very well with the Roland DJ-202. I have not yet upgraded to the Pro version but I probably will do.
Roland DJ-202 for regular DJ’ing is fantastic to use, it sounds great and looks the part and built quality is decent — the jog wheels are lovely. I do everything from the controller except for loops and selecting crates. I have not experienced any huge performance problems when playing – it does exactly what it says on the tin — although there is a slight latency issue when using the effects unit such as the flanger. So despite me being quite rusty at Dj’ing and having my MP3 music library all over the place due to years of neglect as a holding pen for my MP3 player– I have in a space of a few weeks my dj’ing almost got back into the swing of things – something I never did with the Behringer BCD 3000.
I have not yet got into the some of the advanced features of the Roland DJ-202 such as the TNS drums and the sequencer / sampler features other than a play around. The consensus from some of the online videos seems to be that those features which are hidden under the bonnet are a bit fiddly and impractical on the DJ-202 to use in live sets and that anyone who seriously needs them should opt for the Roland DJ-505 or Roland DJ-808 which have dedicated buttons rather than have to shift function keys. Despite this problem the additional features of the DJ-202 might come in handy when creating one’s own edits and mash ups.
All and all, this is a very impressive piece of kit suitable for most DJs from beginners, experienced amateurs and even some pros.
Wasn’t disappointed,great deck,fun to use and sound quality is very good.
Comes with basic Serato with a view to upgrade to pro,monthly instalments or a 1 off payment,think just under 100.
Questions and points noted.
When fader is middled there is slightly less sound and crossfader is a little slow at response if quick fadering (as someone stated above)
I hope this can be fixed with a software update.
All in all a great deck,lots of fun with minor fixable issues.

Apenas estoy iniciando como dj, pero he tenido la oportunidad de usar cdjs, tornamesas y otros controladores, este en especial lo compre porque tiene acceso directo a 4 decks, eso si conectarlo al sonido de la mac fue confuso.

Llevo ya meses con esta controladora y para mi, por el precio que tiene, es la mejor controladora de su rango de precios.
Hay otras marcas ms famosas pero por este precio ofrecen menos cosas.
Me parece que para iniciarse y aprender el comienzo de ser DJ es perfecta. Si luego quieres crecer ms pues puedes comprar otra ms cara.
Me gusta el tacto de los jogwheels y todas las funcionalidades que tiene.
La nica pega sera que los jogwheels no tienen regulador de dureza lo que limita por ejemplo al hacer un backspin.
Por otro lado los pasa son de pulsacin, no tctiles, pero es que por el precio no se puede pedir ms.

But the Serato DJ Pro program costs way too much money. I think I should be able to use all my products features out of the box, and considering you can’t use any other controller software with the DJ-202 I “borrowed a copy from a friend.” It comes with a free lite version but nah.
But if you actually get to use the software it’s great! For a first time mixerer this was a great purchase.

Ich werde diesen Controller zu Havarie-Zwecken oder fr Mini-Jobs einsetzen.Da muss dann auch nicht zwingend ein Mikrofonanschluss vorhanden sein, den den kann man bei diesem Controller absolut vergessen.

Bella consolle, valida come struttura, adatta ad un uso semiprofessionale. Programmata per Serato dj consiglio di acquistare la versione Pro per poterla usare con grande soddisfazione. Buona alternativa ad altri Marchi pi blasonati.

Best DJ controller I’ve used for small gigs. Easy to use
I’ve been DJing for years but never had the money for a pair of CDJ-1000s, which is what I always wanted. I recently bought the DJ-202 to upgrade from playing off a pair of CD decks with Serato Scratch. I was so pleased. It is a great bit of kit. Easy to use and premium feeling for the money. I couldn’t believe what 200 buys you these days (now I sound old). My only slight issue is that the platters don’t spin back quite as much as on the old CDJ-1000s. A minor issue and very happy that I bought this.

Roland hat da ein super Produkt auf den Markt gebracht. Das DJ-Deck kommt mit einer eigenen Soundkarte daher und verrichtet eine gute Arbeit. Die Bedienung ist gut und alle Bedienelemente fhlen sich wertig an. Fr eine mittlere Party sowie selbst kreierte Mixe vollkommen ausreichend.
Calidad/precio es lo mejor que hay en mesas, la Roland siempre fue una mejor marca para m, y el precio es fantstico. No tiene playlist es lo nico malo pero el resto est genial.

Looking around amazon for my first controller this one stuck out the most not only does it look the most professional but the price was great too. Once I recieved it I was made up, looks great, sounds great and is fairly easy to use. Highly recommend.

Ein Stern Abzug in der Tonqualitt. Der Grund: ich nutze sonst einen Roland DJ 808. Der 202 is nur mein Ersatzcontroller. Wenn man einmal den Sound vom 808 kennt, merkt man die Unterschiede. Jedoch is das nicht berzubewerten. Das is Feststellen auf hohem Niveau.
Ich nutze den 202 gern, weil alles passt.

Honestly, I did not expect such a high quality controller for the money and I’m now considering using it in replace of my SX2.
Not only is it incredibly more mobile but frankly other than the extra channels and the 2 MASTER (XLR, RCA) outputs (which I will replace with a small mixer) I think the Roland feels just as proffesional but on a smaller board. And has everything I need to keep performing at my usual standard.

Roland est incontestablement l’une des plus grande marque de produits musicaux du monde et cette machine le prouve encore, la finition est impeccable et vraiment plaisant pour les yeux, les potards sont impec’ et les pads aussi.
Le seul petit trucs que je pourrait lui reproch c’est qu’elle n’est pas aliment par secteur, et qu’elle est lgre.
Mais au del de a, elle mrite plus que tout ces 5 toiles.
As an old school guy that learned to mix on vinyl i never made the digital transition. 20 years later I’m loving getting back into it and having so much fun with this controller! Wish we had this back in the day… taught my daughter to mix in about 10 minutes…. Free Serato pro was a bonus

I’m not one to write reviews for products mainly because of pure laziness but I have to do it this time. I purchased a Roland DJ 202 for multiple purposes. I am a latin dance teacher, choreographer, DJ, and compose original musical performance pieces. I needed some equipment that can help me accomplish every one of those things. I looked into the 202 because of all the research I did on DJ/Producing Equipment. As far as having a truly portable piece of equipment and having that Roland reputation the 202 is an incredible piece of equipment. I like all the feature that is has coming from factory and cannot recommend any other controller but this one to anyone who is looking for DJ equipment.
BUT that is not the reason I am writing this review.
I have to say that based on the couple of years that I have been doing what I do, Roland customer service is by far the best I have ever had. I like the Backstage community it has created for all Roland customers, the direct customer service and all the small little things it does to continue to maintain such a good reputation.
I do not only recommend the DJ 202 but I also just highly recommend Roland as a whole. Hope this helps.
With zero experience, I have had a great time with this controller. My future free time will determine where I go with it, but it was worth the money even just for random fun. There is definitely enough capabilities to grow with also. I feel like even though this is an entry level controller, it provides enough features to help someone advance their skills considerably before they need a new controller to go further.
I definitely recommend this package, and I want to assure everyone that if they do buy it they can persevere and actually get the full package that they are expecting to receive. If you are considering this as a gift for an absolute beginner you better act fast and try to sort out the software and memberships in advance so it can be enjoyed on Christmas instead of looked at.
The Serato Voucher was not in the box and Roland’s site has an email address for Serato, but it has been nearly a week and I haven’t had any response at all. The seller sent a courtesy email but when I replied with my issues and concerns I have not heard from the seller again. Originally my BPM Supreme code was invalid. I never received a response to an email regarding that, but later the same code worked…
I love the machine, but how can Roland promise and not deliver on Serato which was my deciding factor over pioneer’s entry level controller? This is a terrific value if I ever actually get what I paid for.
Two things to note:
1. The jog wheels are heavier than other controllers similar to this, great for scratching, but if you want to be able to make a decent backspin, you’ll have to change the backspin length in the firmware settings. After doing that I had no more backspin issues.
2. The pads are stiff, probably the stiffest out there on any controller. It was really noticeable at first, but surprisingly I got used to it, but if you need to have easily pressable pads, look elsewhere. If you intend to get this for finger drumming, trust me, the pads will be difficult.
Everything else is fine, the tempo adjust faders are as small as the rest in this price range so no complaint there. Really good looking controller with the black jog wheels and good knobs and faders. Would rate 5/5 if not for the pads.
Easy to work with, probably more suited for beginners like myself, Obviously you need mixing software, so Serato or Traktor are probably a good start. The cost of having all these nice things can mount up, so make sure you know what your in for before you purchase mixers. But all in all the Roland DJ-202 is a nice piece of kit, this will provide you all the fundamentals of Dj mixing
I was considering the Pioneer DDJ option before getting this which looked good and endorsed by Jazzy Jeff but I thought the Roland looked more modern and had more features with the built in drum machine. No regrets and can’t imagine the Pioneer being any better.
It can fully replace two turntables and a mixer and act as a high quality audio interface and works great with Serato. I’ve not even touched the surface of what this can do but am already completely satisfied with it being a very picky user having vast experience with 1200’s and Reloop decks but could happily use this instead of decks, its far more convenient.
I am in awe at how good this device is for the money, less than a decade ago a device like this would have cost a king’s ransom. Highly recommended.
