Had a very speedy delivery from Amazon, the impact driver is a tremendous piece of kit for any DIYer or tradesman like myself, a must I would say, Ryobi is a quality brand rivaling the top end brands at a much lower price range, super prices for super quality tools….
I wish I’d bought one before great tool saves lots of time, no carpel tunnel In the arms lightning quick at screwing into hard wood, well worth the money and the ryobi special screwdriver attachments definitely worth buying too, thank you ryobi and thank you once again amazo
Used to have a cheap driver, which was not very good, after reading reviews bought this one. It is an excellent addition works really well and I use it with a 4ah battery that seems to never run down (occasional diyer). I marked it down a star on value as after I bought it appeared on Amazon a tenner cheaper . Would defo recommend
Love this tool I use it for everything first tool I reach for battery last well I have 2 battery’s I made 2driveway gates needed second battery for last 6-8 screws
Yup, when it hammers you’ll hear it over the entire house, but shove screws in, it does – no bother. Main thing to watch out for is that if you don’t keep the pressure on then your screwdriver bits will shatter! So, be nice to yourself, buy good bits and “hold the line”. Don’t use this for ALL driving, but it gets a fair amount of use.
I had my one for over 5 years i drop it left in -25 over night with battry still on warmed both up still working i can not brack it i put this tool thow hell and keep going worth buying i even told ryobi rep wat it dun this tool the best I ever had
Great product from Ryobi. Does exactly what it says on the ti
As usual from Ryobi a brilliant product strong and easy to use just done a house re-furb used daily would definitely recommend
An impact driver was a new discovery for me, and they way this tool drives and removes screws is a revelation compared to my standard Ryobi one driver, and I had no complaints there.
It’s very compact and very controllable. This is not the brushless model, but you have to ask yourself how much you are really going to use something to justify the extra?
It comes with a wrench adapter which I cannot yet report on.
I use Ryobi tools daily as a tradesman, everything from their saws to their drills. I’ve been using this just over a year now, and it’s been used and abused like mad. It’s been left in the rain, dropped off a ladder, and despite that, it keeps going. Good amount of power, light enough that I can wear it on my hip all day, and very comfortable grip. If you need to drive a lot of screws, then I can wholeheartedly recommend this tool, you won’t be disappointed
Lovely powerful tool , Has a range of power settings and made making my raised beds a breeze. I didn’t think I needed one as I already have a drill /driver but I was so wrong.
Once again another excellent product
Find all ryobi stuff very well priced and good quality.
I have a drill, saw, wheel pump, vacuum cleaners etc
All work well and still going strong
Firstly apologies for the pun.
This is the first impact driver I have ever bought and am very impressed by the torque and the fact that it doesnt shear the head on screwnails when driving in or out. I have the 4.0Ah battery and it provides plenty of power and life.
There is a good youtube video on when to use an impact driver and when a cordless drill will do your job which is worth a watch. This is all about power – whereas the cordless drill has more finesse.
Very impressed with this impact driver , did not know they were this good.
Already had battery , got an extra 5ah for this gem.
Yeah I thought that too. If this tool broke I’d order another one tomorrow (might even go for the brushless and pay the premium). Yes, it’s so much better for putting in screws than a drill – but more importantly it’s AMAZING for extracting stubborn, age-welded in screws which no drill will touch. You know the sort, the ones where you have to use a proper screwdriver, put loads of pressure on to avoid slipping off, or sheering the screw head off, or slipping with the bit and mangling up the work surface you were trying to protect…
Only (minor) gripe is that the little stubby impact heads you get in the tic tac boxes don’t seem to work well in the quick release chuck. But putting those in a longer adaptor solves that issue.
Drills are for drilling, impact drivers are for everything else. Once you get one, you’ll not look back. And at 55 on offer, which this one comes up at regularly, it’s a no brainer.
This is the fourth one+ product I’ve bought, and even though I already had a cheap brand driver I decided to add this to my collection having been so impressed with the other Ryobi products.
It’s handled everything I’ve used it for so far (5″ screws in to thick CLS timber was a breeze) and it really puts the old combi drills to shame.
Quick change chuck (are they still called that on these?) means I can swap between the driver bit and countersink tool in literally two seconds, and back again with next to no effort.
There’s a clip to hold spare bits, and a handy little magnet “bed” to sit screws in when not being used.
One of the biggest benefits is that these impact drivers don’t wear screw heads down, even with the amount of power they offer.
If you already have a Ryobi battery and a charger, these things really are a no brainer for the DIYer at this price (and if you don’t have them, this is a good product to start your collection with). I only have the 2.0a battery, and that’s been enough to comfortably power this, the nail gun, reciprocating saw and multi tool.
Great impact driver. but it’s my first time to have one.but very fast and powerful. like it a lot.
It came in good condition, on time, and I’ve used it several times since I got it and it’s in excellent working order. It’s a bargain.
Love my Ryobi ONE+ toys. (TOOLS, I mean Tools dear)
Works really well as I use it on my boat. Needs to be cordless as out on a mooring.
I have several Ryobi One+ tools and this one does the job very well. Saves hours of time and arduous hand screwing. I was putting up a lot of fence panels and this gadget saved me hours of hard work. Very easy to use.
Impact drivers are amazing! They make driving large amounts of screws so much easier than using a drill. There are a ton of great youtube videos out there talking about the benefits of impact drivers over drills so I won’t go into it here, but if you have a lot of screws to deal with this is worth every penny.
I had to re-board a loft space and had about 1000 screws to deal with and this tool made it easy to do with every screw perfectly driven.
The Ryobi One + systems means I can save money by having interchangeable batteries between tools, so like this impact driver I bought the basic unit without a battery or changer and used the ones I already have.
My latest purchase to add to me growing ryobi collection. The impact driver is so quick even with the toughest if materuals
At the moment I’m doing a lot of D.I.Y around the house and garden (being this weather is nice for now). I had to fix a small wooden fence for the front since the local kids destroyed it when they decided to run around, jump and kick it all over my front garden as the football rolls into my garden or flies over the fence.
I started fixing the little border fencing with a ratchet screwdriver (yeah my wrist was screaming) and I just wished I had one something better to help. I’ve owned a plethora of those portable battery powered screwdrivers, some were cheap battery screwdrivers/drills and they do the job perfectly if you have a small job at hand. But I find that the batteries lose charge, they run out at the wrong moment, they end up not being powerful enough, plug wire breaks or I lose them and one burnt out in my hand and I gave up on them entirely.
So I sat in the garden and mulled over the thought of a new but more improved tool, I’ve watched a few people use Makita, Bosch, Ryobi and some more brands, they do simple to hardy D.I.Y jobs and they praise them to high tool heaven. So I sat down and got to looking and it was a choice between a drill or impact driver. I decided to go with Ryobi Impact driver since I was a sucker for the colour and pop it has when you hold it in your hand and the reviews on here and YouTube really swayed me to the green side of the force. Also the price drove the drill is slowly dropping and I will eventually pick one up in a heavier sale in the the year.
As it sits I spent around 22 for the charger (3rd party), 62 (was 72) for the 5ah battery (10 off with prime now order) and 63 for the impact driver itself (body only) so in all it cost me 147 it’s a lot but a worthy investment. Now I know you can get away with a lower powered battery and some 3rd party batteries are okay and will do just fine, but a higher tier battery will make it shine and give you that extra oomph and longevity.
I received it all next day with prime delivery and my first job was fixing something that plagued me for years adding some extra screws to the rear and front gates as they have started to drop, mainly from the guy not putting the right amount of screws in the hinges. I propped the gate up and removed the old screws as they have rusted away, this tool with a Dewalt Hex bit kit removed them like nothing, usually with a ratchet screw driver my wrist punishes me later with throbbing pain, this was a dream to work with. The screws just went into the wood without any problems and something my dad in his youth would have loved… hell how easy and smooth it felt I believe even he would up and about using it from time to time.
So I fixed the hinges, bolts, latches, front fences and some other jobs in no time at all, it was smooth, weight is there but I’m using a 5ah battery so it’s something you will get used to. It’s helping me add new shelves to shed and start my little wood projects around the garden, I can use it on my old bikes to loosen up bolts that were a nightmare to do by hand. It perfectly fine to do some drilling work with hex drill bits and so far I’m hooked. I recently order two wodden trellises and this had the screws in no time and the hex quick swap is a nice addition.
I’d say the price is a turn off for most people as I know a lot of people that won’t spend a lot on tools and hand tools will get you so far, but this was so much easier on my wrists and the time it took was nothing at all, battery lasts a long time and with the 3rd party charger it’s charges in no time at all.
Bought this Impact Driver along with 5A Battery for fixing down ‘Sleepers’ with Timbascrew’s ( 150mm Screws ) , made it all the way through a box of 50 and also cut through 3 Sleepers ( 6″ x 4″) with 150mm Circular Saw before dying out. Very impressed with ease of use and the quality feel of Ryobi products. Gives me that feeling of wanting to do more as they make DIY jobs a breeze. This wont be my last Ryobi product for sure
New replacement for myself for Site work, can’t fault it as I always use Ryobi
I wish I had bought one of these before now. They are so much more efficient if you have a lot of screw work to do.
So I love the ryobi one+ range and this is the addition I never knew I needed. You see I’ve always used a drill for jobs when I have few screws that need putting in. This time though i was doing a very large project and decided to treat myself – what can I say?!?!? It its so much better and makes light work of putting hundreds of screws into 2″ x 4″ timber joists! and perfect because I already have batteries and chargers.
Good product, Ryobi but supplied broke almost straight away which was disappointing as don’t expect that from Ryobi. The driver itself is grea
Good value used these for years it outlasted my expensive other brand so have most of this set now. Quick delivery powerful unit works grea
bought this back in 2015 and immediately wondered where an impact driver had been my whole life!
It is powerful and makes easy work of driving into large timbers. When faced with a day of solid sleeper timber tek 30cm work it got skin burningly hot across the front metal section and although it made it thru the day I feel this was it’s limit. for everything else its basically laughed at the work!
if it broke would i buy it again? yes, definitely.
Had this item for some time now. My favourite tool.
Good adition to my ryobi collection. Its powerfull enough. Good price as well.
This is my first impact driver so I can’t compare to others but what I can say is that this is amazing for driving in screws. I had over one thousand screws to drive when building a fence and this made all the difference. Compared to a standard drill driver this is so fast and effortless. I would recommend this to anyone who has a project with a lot of screws to drive.
This product is excellent, but I got mine too late!! Having just built a timber barn using a Ryobi cordless screwdriver, I developed ‘carpel tunnel’ in my wrists due to the twisting torque action of the cordless action. Now after buying and using this Impact driver, the strain on my wrists is vastly reduced, when working in the hardwood barn construction. Using the correct screws, this unit flies through 19mm hardwood. Battery usage is long and construction, typically Ryobi – excellent. With a small light to aid dark places, magnetic drive holder built in, this tool is excellent for your growing Ryobi One toolbox. I’m glad I found this tool, a bit too late to avoid the carpel tunnel!!
First class item and service, Many thanks, Mr T Ford
I had a brushless Ryobi drill for a while and when I got this it was a big change in time when putting In screws. Easy to use. Does all the work for you
Great drill goes well with other ryobi tools and a great price
So a friend said I should get an impact driver based on the fact I kept swapping the hand held electric screwdriver for a cordless drill and I have to say I’m not going back.
Never shredded a screw or screw head since. The only feedback which is worth sharing is the impact element kicks in really quickly so if you are trying to quickly crew something in quietly, then this will not do that. I had a simple screw to drive in some soft wood and was surprised how the impact elements kicked in on such soft wood.
That said, once I got used to this I just use nothing else now. Love it.
Ryobi one an excellent system, the driver is powerful but under control
I have no idea why I have never owned an Impact Driver before, but it has revolutionised my screwing! Screws drive in so quick, if they are not good quality screws it has a tendency to rip the screw head off! (Use only good quality screws kids!) So much torque from such a small device, it truly is a powerhouse in a small, affordable package
Good value for money and one of the best impact drill I ever own.
fantastic tool and price. this is the first impact driver i have owned and was surprised how noisy they are, i might have considered the quiet drive model if i had known.
This is one of the best tools I’ve ever bought.
Reliable, robust, comfortable to use, One+ battery system is a great idea, very effective +++
It’s a Xmas present, but I have one and it amazing
Love it and now don’t know how i lived without one before…. so much easier trying to screw in dozens of decking screws than using a drill driver, makes life so much easie
Fantastic tool, in fact my favourite power tool. Never knew I needed one, but now don’t know how I managed without it. Not only it it great for driving screws into timber, it’s brilliant at getting them out as well.
The bars unit doesn’t come with a battery, which is fine for me as I had already bought a drill from the one plus product line.
Handy clip on the handle to hold the bit. Alternative bits to allow sockets to be used are commonly available, make sure that you get one that is specifically for impact tools though.
A great piece of kit at the right price.Well made and easy to use.
Should’ve got one ages ago, no more wrist strain and effortless driving into wood without pilot holes. good battery life and handling
its mint. screws tgrough 6inches of timber no effort…brillisnt!
Superb bit of kit, needs decent battery though, have a 4AH/5AH battery and it’s a marvelous bit of kit.
Works well got plenty of torque make a perfect collection to my ryobi power tools and good for the price unlike the leading brands like Milwaukee and maketa
Have yet to use it in anger but like other Ryobi products, can’t fault the build quality or the power.
I’ve been wanting to buy myself an impact driver for a while and then seen this! Having already purchased the Ryobi Lawnmower, Strimmer and SDS Drill I thought I would add to my range having already purchased a 4.0Ah and a 5.0Ah battery.
I was using my Bosch combi drill to drive in screws and this is just so much better. I’ve been using it with the 4.0Ah battery so far and it’s been pretty much flawless. I would say the build quality is excellent and for the price you can’t really go wrong with it. I was contemplating buying the DeWalt impact driver from Screwfix but for the price difference I really couldn’t justify it.
I am using this for DIY so for me it’s pretty much perfect. I like the quick release holder and the magnetic base is a nice touch as I have a terrible habit of holding screws in my mouth when working.
Absolutely brilliant tool. Drives screws in much easier than a drill driver due to its impact mechanism. No more struggling or stripped screws!
Buy it, it will make you wonder why you ever used anything else to drive a screw in.
Not the best, but for most diy jobs its ok.
An excellent product to add to my Ryobi One+ range, recommended
I don’t use this, my husband does. Appears comfortable with this product, and indeed with the interchangeable battery, the little Ryobi comes out ahead.
Excellent as always from Ryobi, works a treat, wish I’d got one sooner. So much better than a drill driver for long screw jobs in to hard wood.
Very well made, as all ryobi tools are. What a differance. People should realise these are not like standard combi drills, they make life easier, and this model just packs a hell of a punch. It can Rev up to high rpms if needed, and saves a lot of effort. Combi drill stil needed on more delicate jobs, but for raw power and less effort, including cancelling the need for pilot holes in wood. No torque control, it will just keep going, so it will countersink as well. Great tool, should’ve had one years ago. Great prompt service from toolden too
Great, Ryobi quality and very torquey no trouble whacking in screws etc
Very handy to have around the house for DIY, having an impact driver makes any screwing job 10 times easier than using a combi drill.
The Ryobi is well built and easy to use the batteries from the other tools.
Have always used a cordless drill to put screws in, but having read a few reviews online I decided to give an impact driver a go. I wasn’t really expecting much difference but I am amazed at how much easier and quicker it drives the screws in. I’ll never use my drill for such things again.
Also worth noting that I have a few Ryobi One+ products and I think the system is a great idea and the tools are always very good quality for the money, so I tend to look at Ryobi first now when needing a new power tool. I have quite a few DeWalt products but I think their quality has dropped over the years and generally Ryobi are better quality and value for money.
Powerful and capable tool. Tends to wear the bits quickly unless you keep it very square to the screw.
Nice bit of kit for my collection. Surprised at the strong power output. very pleased with the driver.
amazing quality impact drive, it has been very reliable and proved much more durable than other more expensive brands
Great impact driver I wish I got one some time ago it put 1/2″ by 4″ coach bolts in really easy.
Been used many times while doing up our house. Easy to use.
Bought this after buying the Ryobi drill with 2 battery’s which has enough space to fit everything in it. The impack driver is very powerful and feels great in your hand. It’s weight is balanced well and not top heavy. The LED lights are bright and great for use in dark areas like cupboards. It’s also good to know you can make it 10% more powerful using a 1.5 amp battery or larger. Also the colouring makes it stand out so it’s easy to find.
first class product use it everyday in my job well worth the money
Powerful impact tool that turns out to be the best Ryobi tool purchased to date
My favourite piece of kit. This thing is a monster at so many jobs. Compared to my other normal drill this is a different class.
Been going strong for almost a year.
Used for fixing floorboards and fencing and is excellent, powerful and easy to use
As a site electrician use it regularly on first fixing no problems with impact driver its great and was a great price
I love the Ryobi systems – bought a couple of batteries and a load of their kit.
I bought this to go alongside the Ryobi drill – it works well and is simple to use.
A must have in any DIY or professional tool bag. Makes driving screws or bolts so much easier with no strain on the wrist. Very impressed with the quality of this product. The LED’s give great light and is no more heavy than a normal drill. Battery seems to last 30% longer, due to probably how the impact works to drive screws in rather than torque. Teemed it up with a box of Milwaukee 50mm PZ2, just the job!!
I always wanted an impact driver as I was getting sick of swapping from drill to driver bit on my drilldriver. I already had the One+ circular saw and drill, so thought that I’d maintain battery compatibility and buy the Ryobi impact driver.
Out of the box, this is purposeful feeling tool, and that feeling is matched by its power. As a test, I tried driving an unpiloted #12 x 2″ into some scrap pine off a pallet. No problem, but I didn’t react fast enough, it drove it full depth and split the wood! My fault, obviously, but shows the tool’s capability.
As for the reviews about it not being capable of vehicle maintenance, wellllll, it isn’t meant to be! My Torque wrenches have ben useless up to now for all of my cabinetry applications, but that, too, is to be expected….
I’ve also noticed some comments over the driving rate not being controllable. Not true. Trigger depression depth controls rate. Easy.
Basically, it’s a great tool that does what it’s designed to do and saves the time and effort of constantly changing drills to screwdriver bits. The only word of caution is that you will need some proper impact rated bits – the 220Nm torque makes a right mess of the supplied bit! I have dewalt pz2s, a milwaukee set and a ryobti set. All perform admirably.
Like all Ryobi tools it is superb. Nice touch is the bit holder is spring loaded so the bit shoots out when the knurled ring is pulled back.
Good tool and does the job well. no battery but it says that in the descriptio
a brilliant tool makes life easy when your are the older generatio
I was bought this impact driver to add to my Ryobi One + kit, I had only ever used standard drills previously and was pleasantly amazed at the extra power of this driver. It will easily drive in a four inch screw into timber and can even be used for removing wheel nuts (providing the torque has been set correctly)
Puts 200mm screws through solid timber like its going through butter. Couldn’t believe the difference between using my drill/driver and this. This is in a whole different league. Highly recommend, just bear in mind NO battery or charger with this.
Already had some batteries, so got this as a bare unit.
Wasn’t to sure that I would use it that much at first, but it just works so well, that I’m using it more and more each day.
I don’t know how I managed without one for so long.
If you’ve ever driven in long screws and experienced cam out (screwdriver bit slipping out of head of screw, damaging head of screw!) then you need one of these!
Especially when up on some steps, how many times have you had to hold onto something, so that when you start driving that screw in, it doesn’t slip and you can apply the force needed without falling off the steps..
The 3 LEDS are also very effective in darkly lit positions, and it’s nice to ‘shine’ a bit of light onto the area.
It’s very comfortable (for me) and a well balanced tool.
Until I used an impact driver I didn’t appreciate the ease of driving screws and bolts. Previously I used my power drill with a screw bit and you often end up with chewed screw heads not to mention going through screw bits like there is no tomorrow. Not now.
Very powerful tool, ideal for removing those screws that don’t seem to want to budge.
Sweet to look at and to handle light weight performing excellent Ryobi doing some great product. It’s up there with big brand which are 3x the price. I personally love it.
Very good driver. My work colleges have Makita and Dewalt impact drivers and this performs as well for a fraction of the price. 10/10
Thoroughly recommend this product. It’s been heavily used and works very well.
Fantastic tool, bought to speed up a decking project. Great value if you already have some of the one+ batteries. Very powerful too. Just a shame it doesn’t come with a case.
I already have Ryobi one plus items and have added this to my collection. I have been working with decking and garden timbers and the power is awesome. Drives 70mm screws like a hot knife through butter.
Absolutely brilliant piece of kit. Would never go back to an ordinary driver/drill. You can easily drive in large screws single handed if required. So quick and easy. Drives screws into difficult materials that an ordinary driver/drill would fail at. Also amazing at getting screws out.
Really powerful driver for most driver jobs but will not remove wheel-nuts.
Get a torque wrench if you want to do this.
Driver can be a bit too powerful for delicate jobs, the trigger is not easy to part press.
Brilliant product well balanced and powerful. It drives screws into oak as well as pine. It feels well made and robust I would not consider any other make as I have battery and chargers Ryobi + always delivers
4 stars for lightness and handling. Not used this long enough to rate comprehensively. The price was less than half that of the branded products and I already use some Ryobi tools and find them reliable. Definitely for DIY and some trades.
Excellent very useful little power tool with the added benefit that the batteries are interchangeable with all your other Ryobi One Plus power tools:)
ordered this after searching for a decent price and found it on amazon funny enough… came very quickly and should have had this ages ago as i love i
Well balanced and easy to use. The spring action of ejecting the drill bits caught me by surprise the first time, but makes for a much easier change of bits . Great mid range tool. having owned lots of Ryobi tools I personally rate them highly.
I’m getting a bit too old to use a hand tool for long jobs with multi screws, overcame my scepticism and am absolutely amazed at the power of a little tool to send large screws into wood, very impressed, my other batteries fit, so it is a very practical, cost effective way of having a good selection of power tools without spending a fortune on batteries, just a couple will ensure you are never completely stumped on a job, but three is ideal!
A fantastic tool very efficient. It is so much faster than an ordinary drill. For such a small tool it is very powerful
For a few years now i have been wanting a good quality impact driver and as i already have a few ryobi one 18v tools and 4 battery’s i decided to buy this one which comes [”NAKED” without battery’s or charger’]it states 170nm of torque on amazon but it is actually 220nm of torque which makes it far the most powerful of all 18v brands with de-walt’s new model 2nd with 170nm of torque,it is a very well made power tool with a rubber moulding making it comfortable to hold with 3 l.e.d. lights,i tried it yesterday for the 1st time and was well pleased when it screwed in large 6 inch screws into a fence post without slowing down, you must remember that you should use high quality bit’s with this tool or impact driver bit’s, [i bought a makita 30 piece impact driver bit set in a plastic case on ebay for 10 which i recommend],i am so pleased i chose this one as ryobi power tools are so well made. With the battery attached it is not light but as it is well made you would’nt get a light machine to do a job that this one does, if you want a light model get a different make 10.8v model which would have around 90 to 110nm of torque from 80 to 130 with battery’s.i can’t recommend this power tool highly enough, brilliant tool which deserve’s 6 stars not 5.
