The Safetots Self Closing Pressure Fit gate is installed by simply twisting the handwheels to apply the pressure. No drilling of holes is required. After a few pain free minutes of installation, simply lift the handle to open the gate, walk through, and the gate will slowly close itself behind you. It really is that simple !!

Exactly what I needed
I read some other reviews and product Q&As before buying and was worried about things like self closing and the locking mechanism. Touch wood I have not experienced any issues and the gate is quite sturdy. This is a great gate and would recommend it.

We are SO pleased with this gate! The auto-close function is great. We love that you can swap which direction it opens and that the auto-close function is removable.

Have not yet assembled item as it is bought for when dog has an operation and it is needed to prevent him from going upstairs.
Have read through instructions and it looks straight forward particularly the extension bit.
Good value for money
Once installed the gate is sturdy and works well. When the gate is open, the gap between the uprights is quite narrow and this can be a little dangerous when stepping through to go down stairs.

Great really strong you have to lift it to open along with the catch so makes it harder for children to undo sturdy on it’s own but comes with parts to screw to the wall for extra sturdyness

Unfortunately the cups were missing the sticky backs so we had to screw them onto the door frame regardless. Other than that the gate should be perfect for our needs.

The first gate was dispatched but was taking a long time so I contacted the seller – Jayne from customer service Safetots picked up my query immediately, the gate seemed to be missing with the courier so she arranged a second gate to be sent and we had it within 24 hours. She was very responsive and efficient. All round a good experience.

It is ok brought to stop my grandson from going into the kitchen when the oven is on, and also going up the stairs.
It just takes a little bit of adjustme
I think with these gates you just have to find the right pressure to get this gate working and fitting perfectly. It took a bit of adjustment to get it where the gate closes perfectly with the magnet, but its worth it. We have three of them in our house and for the price they are perfect. They’re sturdy and so far have kept my 16 month old off the stairs and allows my four and a half year old to be able to get through with a bit of effort. I would recommend this gate.

After several days of pushing and pulling and being unable to work out what the seemingly useless little catch on top of the gate is for – I have now worked out that you slide the catch back, lift the gate right up until the magnet releases and then open…
The gate looks great, and it’s so far held off the advances of my overly zealous 1 year old. The advice is to tighten up the wall screws every few days or so as they will work loose, and that seems accurate so far. It swings itself shut behind you which is great, and it always catches and locks.
You do have to line it up just right when installing it, which takes a few attempts at tightening all the wall screws evenly. But it looks like once it’s in, it’s in. The space we had to fit was 102cm, so had to get the extenders and they were a doddle to fit together and look totally fine. So yeah, overall I’m happy and apart from the slightly fiddly opening mechanism, I’m happy.
Having spent a few days battling with the gate, I do totally understand the negative reviews on here about the catch coming loose etc – if you don’t open it just right (tricky when carrying a squirmy child) then it will take a beating. But once I cracked it, I haven’t had any issues since.

I bought the gates as pet gates, keeping the dog away from the cat’s food etc. and they work. I can see them be equally excellent as their designated use re small children. Very secure and great that you can buy different widths.

I purchased this gate for the kitchen to keep the dogs in and the Nephew. Super sturdy and has a great locking mechanism and to this date, the 18month has been unable to figure out how to unlock it.

A lot of the reviews say it’s worked loose. Mine haven’t and we have two! Bottom of the stairs and bedroom. Excellent gates, toddler is strong and they’ve been reliable and safe

Study, easy to open and close. This is self-closing, which we didn’t really need and isn’t always that handy (but may be to other people).
I got two of these for the top and bottom if my narrow staircase. I’m extremely satisfied with them. They were simple to fit and once on very secure, despite being pressure fit. I’ve tested their resilience to a forceful shaking from me and I am confident they will stand up to my toddlers and dog and protect them from falling down the stairs.
The knack for using them is simple enough to pick up as an adult. My mature five year old son has picked up the knack from our instruction and permission. However, it requires concentration from him and a bit of determination. Which is fine with me as it slows his actions down so he doesn’t go too fast.
The mechanism and pressure pads look really well made. Strong and long lasting.
No regrets buying these.

Arrived quickly (thanks Amazon) and quite easy to install. It is also quite robust.initially I couldn’t work out how to securely open and shut the gate. But as soon as I worked that out, it’s a very simple, easy and robust gate to use.

I instaled this gate as per the instructions and could not understand how it opened with just a 2mm gap. I then realised you have to lift the gate first before opening and it then opens easily. This is not mentioned anywhere in the instructions.
Cannot comment yet on its long term reliability but now using it properly i don’t see any reason for failure.

It’s a bit expensive for what it is as there are others on the market cheaper and of the same quality but not many that will fit a narrow opening.

We tried a couple of ‘narrow’ safety gates before this one but had to return them as they felt unsteady. This one is solid as a rock and a good 6 inches taller than our others. Well worth the money and would have bought these for our other doors if we’d have found this one first.

Good solid product which fits well once you know how to fit it! Instructions are too basic & don’t include the all-important detail that once fitted, you have to keep tightening the fixings in order for the door to close. It helps to squeeze the door & frame together as you tighten to get the ‘pressure fit’. If the instructions were better I’d give it 5

Both screw-fit and pressure-fit. Easy to set up by simply twisting the handlewheels. It’s a bit more expensive than the other ones we have, but worth it. We needed a narrow gate, and this one was among a handful of models that came in the right size. You can operate it using just one hand, but you need a good deal of spinach to be able to lift it up high enough.

This gate was exactly what I needed and good value for money. It was straightforward to fit and was extremely secure. My grandson has learned to undo the gate at home, but he was unable to open this Safetots gate.
My only negative comment would be that supplying only four sticky pads, means that you are unable to move the gate to another room in the house, or to another house. For the sake of a few pence, extra sticky pads would be extremely useful.

Good size for narrow Victorian stair case. Feel very sturdy when installed. I found turning the fixings to tighten the pressure a little trickier than other gates because of their shape and proximity to the floor. Otherwise excellent!
