Really surprised with this product as i have always used Dyson. it is a great product cleans up difficult messes and the fact my dog sheds all the time this does the job of cleaning in a jiffy! highly recommend even for Dyson lovers like me.
Great vacuum cleaner. Smooth and quiet when running. A little heavy but the features well make up for this. I love not having to clean hairs off the roller, and how easy it is to clean and put back together. Suction is better than my old Dyson!
So, I’ve had a few Dysons. I’ll never have another after discovering the power of the Shark! A-mazing. Listen, this might not be the most powerful vacuum out there, and, yes, some hair might still get tangled, but this is so many miles ahead of any Dyson or Vax I’ve ever used. I’m very pleased with it – great suction, incredibly easy to use, easy to empty, easy to untangle. I love that it’s super easy to use the ‘wand’ and the attachments. All of the catches are really smooth, and everything clicks back into place effortlessly.
My last Dyson (DC40) couldn’t pick up anything larger than a grain of sugar, so the fact that this Shark picks up anything I ask it to without jamming is brilliant for me. I have a dog and a cat too – no problem, suck up that hair!
Oh, also, I must applaud the packaging – not a single bit of plastic. That’s how it’s done! Every piece of the vacuum was wrapped in strong brown paper, so the whole lot can be recycled. Excellent.
In short, an excellent vacuum cleaner that I love using – and that’s saying something because I’m really lazy and hate cleaning!
Brilliant product when you have a couple of hairy dogs who decided to molt for Christmas. It picks up hair and gives the carpets a thorough brushing. Great for going under furniture and beds. Absolutely brilliant on the stairs only downside is that the waste container is only small so needs frequent emptying.
Always used Dyson until I brought there cordless hoover and was really disappointed,
Decided to Change over to a shark and it’s great, dog hair no problem, I really like the lift away action and light at the front!
Great product highly recommend by a busy mum!
I hate doing housework. Our old hoover died and husband bought me a very cheap, handheld replacement – I was tearing my hair out.
Sharkie (yes, he even earned his own name) was a good choice. I hesitated because he was pricey, but man, he was wwll worth the money…
The suction power is so big, I often have to reduce it.
This rotating blade head is amazing, it does really pick up hair, and doesn’t get clogged. Having said that, I had to take his head apart to remove a stuck lego, and it was quite easy btw.
He is not useful for rugs, because he tries to eat them. I can’t find a suitably low suction yet to be able to hoover a small/medium rug with Sharky.
A little downside is that this hoover is very heavy. Not clumsy though, easy to pick up/hold/maneuver, but heavy. So if you have painful joints or you are very weak, this hoover is not for you.
But for carpets, hard floors – I don’t think there is a better hoover then this.
If he breaks , ever, I will buy another one of tbe same, he is so good. This is the best hoover I ever had.
This cleaner works really well, is superbly designed and engineered. A lot of thought has gone into this design. It is also just about the quietest cleaner around and I think it must be using brushless motors, well at least the motor driving the floor head rollers definately is. People who have given this bad feedback must be using it incorrectly or having an unrealistic expectation, it is not going to be able to deal with extremely long animal hair, even with the best will in the world!
The first time we used it, we were surprised at the amount of muck it removed from our carpets! we had been using a passive cleaner with no carpet head before and now the cat’s fine hairs get removed. The lift-away feature is really useful when you want to be more mobile with the tube and attachments, you have much more freedom without the fairly heavy floor head. The suction driven stair carpet attachment is excellent, if a little noisy. The only criticism I might have is that the bristles on the nozzle attachment are rather weak and that is something that could be easily remedied.
Good suction, and so far anti hair wrap works, but I do find it a bit unsteady and topples over when using the hose.
Detachable so easy to use on stairs. The suction power is amazing, so if you have really thick carpets you may struggle to move it if your not particularly fit, but you can release the suction power by releasing some air…all in all a fantastic hoover, hair be gone
I have had my new Shark NZ801UK for about a month now and I love it. Disappointed I never had a Shark before and surprised I’m this excited about a vacuum! I have carpet, hard floors and rugs which the Shark tackles with equal ease. It steers well, twisting and turning into any tight areas.
The lift away comes off in one movement and makes stairs and tricky corners really easy. It’s a nice change to be able to clean all of an area at once without having to use two vacuums or do all the floors then go around again with the wand like I had to with my previous Hoover. The wand quickly clicks off whether full wand or just short handle end for small places.
Suction is fantastic with an easy to use slider to increase or decrease. I’m shocked at the dirt and dust that came out of my carpets on first use.
There is a great attention to detail such as the ‘carpet’ and ‘hard floor’ setting being written upside down near the top of the handle so it’s easy to read when you bend your head down to look, as well as one hand emptying.
The vacuum is definitely heavier than the stick type at 6.5kg so do keep this in mind. I found the ease with which it moves across the floor negated the weight for me but when my Mum in her 70’s had a go she wasn’t so sure.
I paid 193 and feel like a got a bargain. Absolutely fab vacuum even at the full price.
I love this machine, for the price it is absolutely amazing. I have a large dog who sheds and this has been a lifesaver in my price range. I love the modes, the light at the bottom, how easy it is to control and get into corners, the suction, and the flexibility of the handheld machine. If I could have one complaint, it’s that the “bag” where everything collects is deceptively small, it’s quite thin and runs along the front of the machine so it looks larger when viewing it face-on but honestly this isn’t a problem. I can hoover a 2 person flat in one go.
Works great ,I wish it had a bigger head as I have a large area of carpet to vacuum
Absolutely amazing, when I asked on social media which hoover I should get 99% said shark and it was between this one and the pet one. We opted for this one as our dog doesn’t really malt. So glad we got its brilliant, its disgusting how much it collects even though you hoover ever day but satisfying at the same time. Comes apart so easy to do stairs and around the corners of the room etc. So glad we purchased one would highly recommend.
Quite amazing I have to say, I was sceptical, but I’m convinced that this is one of the bast vacuum cleaners out there now. The hair wrap technology sets it apart form some of the other bigger names in the market and the lift away option is outstanding, a wonderful feature, as it allows you a lot more functionality. It’s also very quiet and my only criticism would be that in its upright state, it’s quite heavy. Overall, I’m impressed.
The shark is HEAVIER than I expected, you sure need to be agile and strong to use it, certainly not for elderly frail people . It’s is difficult to push due to the weight and not so agile as an upright.
However positive facts, pics up and cleans really well, especially close to skirting boards. Small dust capacity so have to empty regularly.
But makes carpets look great, good suction .
I would recommend especially if your fit and need a work out when cleaning .
Good suction, first time I used it it completely filled up so obviously my old hoover wasn’t a patch on this one!
One really annoying thing I’ve noticed though is when you unclip the hose to hoover corners/skirting boards etc, the tube is nowhere near long enough. You have to carry the hoover round with you in one hand while using the hose with the other, otherwise the hoover just gets dragged along and falls over. It needs to be a lot longer and this is incredibly annoying when using the hose.
The hair wrap function works to a degree, definitely works better than previous hoovers but still wraps hair round the brush.
One other criticism is it’s very heavy and hard to move from left to right when hoovering. Wouldn’t suit someone with mobility issues.
It’s the best hoover I’ve owned so far for performance but I’ve only ever had cheap hoovers.
I had a vacuum for 10 years before this one, it was a pretty stable relationship, then, I decided it was time to move on with my life. Let me tell you, it was not an easy decision to make. My old vacuum was reliable and really good… but something was missing, especially when it was about picking up hair from the floor.
This vacuum was pricey but I decided it was time to treat myself. Since this shark arrived I filled so many bags with a lot of dirt that I have never imagined it was accumulated under the carpet, it made me aware that what’s on top of the carpet is not everything.
It is a heavy machine, but it helps the suction power, so I don’t mind. It is really easy to manoeuvre, and also I like that I can keep the extra bits on the main body, so it is easy to interchange tools when I need to.
I have really long hair and 3 cats, a kid, and my house was never this clean, also my hair does not tangle on the cleaning brushes, which makes me think there’s some kind of sorcery going on there, because it was a problem with my old vacuum and I had to stop all the time to clean the brush.
I feel like I spent all this money on something that is helpful and always ready to use.
I’ve had the shark cordless for over 5 years and it’s a brilliant vacuum to whip out and lift the surface but my upstairs carpets are very deep pile and were starting to flatten. I got this model last week and I have to say it’s incredible!! It’s completely lifted the pile and they look brand new!! You can actually see the carpet lifting up like it’s stuck to the shark. It’s very powerful which is probably why it’s quite heavy so if you’re elderly or have weak arms/shoulders I wouldn’t recommend. I now use the cordless for the hard floor and keep this one upstairs. So I pre hoovered first then used it and it got all that dust out!! And it’s been used every day for a week and no hair wrapped and we all have long hair in our family. Get it it’s amazing.
Having always bought Dyson I felt like a change and wonder why I didn’t do this sooner, this sharkis absolutely fab does exactly what it says on the box, I’ve read many reviews saying the anti hair wrap is useless all I can say they must have been using it wrong or trying to hoover up to much at once, I have a dog and the shark copes extremely well better than any ,Dyson I have owned, would I go back go a Dyson? No. Yes I would recommend the shark over Dyson every time.
Tried to register the 5 year warranty on the website, filled out all the details. However I get ‘General Error’ Page not found. Been trying for a week now. Other then that the vacuum is very good.
This is a brilliant vacuum cleaner and if I was younger and in perfect health, would give it 10/10. But as I am 77 years with a back condition, I wished I had bought the cordless and lighter one. I do find it a little heavy and the dirt container is a lot smaller than my last vacuum cleaner. It is very Saturday and has several good features. Certainly cleans the floors very well, which is what it is for.
Overall would recommend. Our first Shark after two Dysons.
Better suction. The “lift away” is helpful for stairs but the attachments could be better.
Was surprised at how bulky it is but it was wasted to put together, picks up loads, has good swivel action and is easy to empty. The anti-hair wrap is a myth but was not the reason we went for this so not a huge issue for us.
Did not see the point in the headlights on it but actually they are quite helpful for hoovering later in the day!!
My Shark liftaway arrived today. Very easy to put together even for a pensioner like me. Centred the suction measure and hoovered a large rug. I was amazed at how much dust was in the cylinder. Very pleased going to try it on hair and hard floors tomorrow. Yes my only concern is it is heavy and I have to take it upstairs but I am sure I will cope
Really surprised by this vacuum, having had a dyson for 15yrs I was dubious but it is amazing, considering I vac everyday I was amazed to see how much fluff & dust was in the cylinder . Very easy to fit hoses and bits together and easy to empty.
The only down side is it’s not lite and quite hard to push and maybe not suitable for weaker/older persons.
This is not as light as I imagined but that was quickly forgotten about when I started to use it.Really happy doing the stairs with it as well.
Good points are it manoeuvres well and is easy to handle. Great suction power and detachable collection bin is useful when doing stairs or hard to get to places. Bad bits are that it doesn’t live up to its no hair tangle advertising. Had to strip down the head unit after a week as my wife and daughter both have long hair and it jammed the roller. Collection bin is small so needs regular emptying and the ball connection on the hose keeps coming out of the clasp mechanism which gets annoying. It’s good but not as good as the advertising makes out.
What a hoover! Treated myself to a shark, with 4 children and a very busy household I needed something to grab quickly and suck everything up..
This does exactly that. Great for stairs and awkward edges and the front lights handy too!
I also use it in my car and it’s brilliant.
Definitley recommend x
It is quite heavy but as I live in a bungalw that’s not a problem. It’s so easy to empty and the suction is good. The lights at the front are really helpful and the fact that it can vary between hard floor and carpet is most useful.
Surprisingly quiet be. My previous Dyson. What impresses me the most is it’s transition from hard floor to carpet to rug. No crazy, high pitched whining or juddering (which I’d become accustomed to.
Headlamps ideal for highlighting dust / debris.
Detachable tank surprisingly light and agile for ceiling cobwebs and getting under the sofa / behind radiators.
Decent. Let’s hope it lasts as well as my Dyson did… and copes longer term with their hair… which my Dyson choked with.
Very efficient, easy to assemble, not too big, but a little heavy & less manoeuvrable than my old vacuum cleaner. I’m now getting used to it.
It’s heavy, but has a very high quality feel to it.
After using a Dyson for years I bought this. On opening I ran it over a carpet which had just been cleaned by the Dyson, and the amount of dirt it picked up, which the Dyson had missed, was unreal. It’s worth pointing out the Dyson was several years old and cordless.
It excels on carpets, really cleaning deep, and is much quieter than our old vacuum.
Probably too heavy for an elderly person to use, but otherwise highly recommended…
This vacuum cleaner is designed very cleverly. At a press of a button you can switch between carpet and hard floor, unclip the waste section, empty the waste and remove the engine to turn it into a hand-held. (good for stairs). In upright mode it is easy to manoeuvre and has very good suction. I’m glad I bought it.
I’m impressed with how much this picks up. Granted, it makes me feel like my house is filthy as I’m vacuuming every 2 days and it’s still picking up dust! Love the lights on the front and nice and easy to move in different directions. The only disadvantage is it is heavy so no good if you have problems like arthritis in your hands. I would recommend.
I used to be a Dyson fan, but I’m now converted to Shark! I used it the day after vacuuming with my old vacuum cleaner and the Shark took up so much more dust and hair. It comes with loads of attachments, converts to handheld easily and is easy to clean. The head rotates, making it easy to move around corners. The lights are also a good feature.
Super impressed so far with this Hoover , love the lift away hovering the stairs is so easy now , I had been using a dyson over the years very bulky and heavy in comparison and I got fed up with it in the end. This Hoover is strong and study and doesn’t break from simply being picked up , means the kids can help! Love that the light indicates blockages and also how easy it is to take everything apart for cleaning most things just click out and back in. No regrets ! If I have any problems down the line I will come back and revise my review though.
Bought this to replace our Dyson, and thought that the suction may not be as good. But we are very impressed, and it is less money than buying another Dyson. All of the extras are easy to get off and use, and using it to go up the stairs is excellent. Our first Shark buy – but not our last!!
Amazing suction. Smart, flexible, intuitive vacuum which will save our household countless hours. Well worth the investment.
We’d been using a Goodmans Vacuum for some time but it was only until we got our Shark Vaccum we realised how much wasn’t being picked up. The only downside is the drum need emptying more frequently.
I have waited a few week’s to review this product to give a good assessment of how it performs.
I live in a 3 storey townhiouse with lots of carpet so needed something robust to cope with the usuage. Ill start with the cons…
Its heavy, and is a work out when using it. I got a sweat on the first time i used it, and the cord is a pain (i know it comes with a cord!) The suction tube that should attach to the vacuum is flimsy and comes off.
The pros…
This thing is an absolute beast! I thought it was going to suck my carpet up at one point. I did loads of research in to a Hoover and this beast doesnt dissapoint. If your happy to get a sweat on like me hoovering your house, this doesnt dissapoint. Excellent hoove
The shark is an incredible vacuum cleaner, the lift off facility makes cleaning stairs very easy, it has amazing suction power, I have to open the vent when doing the mats in front of the doors as the power is so fierce it lifts the mat, cleaning hair of the brush bar is easy but I do it every time as we have three cats and two dogs. Have always bought a Dyson in the past and still have one which I use upstairs, would definitely buy another shark. Love it.
This is a good vacuum cleaner it is easy to set up easy to use and maintain, my only concern is it is quite heavy and it doesn’t glide around corners a wide bend yes but not a corner you will have to lift it, the lift off section is good I’m getting on and I live in a bungalow. I still rate this for the vacuum suction a 10 out of 10 dog hairs are gone.
The suction is excellent. It isn’t 100% successful at cutting up my wife’s long blonde hair, but does a decent job. The detachable body makes it useful for cleaning the car and stairs, although it’s one of the heavier vacuums I’ve used. At the discounted price very good value for money.
Very good suction means frequent emptying of the dust container, but that’s no bad thing! You really need to also purchase the pet roller which makes vacuuming the stairs very much easier. It’s a good product once you get your head round all the permutations!
Previously had and loved a pet dyson. However, i am now sold on this. This is good value, lower head fits under furniture far easier, suction is almost too much (its a work out on full but can be turned down). Lift away is ingenious, tools right for the job, carpet / hard floor settings great, hair not evident after an awful lot of hoovering.
Its a small collection tub but its a satisfying hoover. Highly recommend! Can’t believe i’m getting excited about a hoover 🙂
We bought this as it was recommended on a german shepherd site… so far its amazing it gives a real deep clean . On your first use get ready to empty it a lot as it really does do a good job. Its easy to part to use on stairs plus its a pretty quiet motor.
We bought this for our new flat which seemed to be really clean when we moved in, but the hoover took out a good amount of extra dust out of bedroom carpet and other rugs. 10/10 for any kind of fabric surface it makes a huge, visible difference.
It’s very easy and comfortable to use, all parts are detachable and come off smoothly – super handy when needing the hand attachment for corners, edges or other less accessible parts. Looking forward to using this on the car as well.
One note for future users – be careful around cables when on the carpet setting, as the suction is so powerful cables can get a little damaged, nothing too serious just a heads up!
Really happy with this vacuum cleaner. I have had a Shark cordless in the past, and was really happy with that so was happy to buy another Shark. Decided to go for the corded one as we have 3 dogs who lose a huge amount of hair. It is extremely powerful, and easy to use.
The cord is very long so no need to keep unplugging. I bought the motorised brush attachment in addition to this, which is excellent for stairs and the sofa. It is much quieter than I thought it would be. Overall I couldn’t be happier with this.
Exactly what I expected but tge anti hair works a treat I was fed up buying vacuum cleaners every year.
I think this feels like it is built to last.
Got this at a great price and so glad I did, my cordless Dyson has been dying for the past few months and my carpets were clearly not clean… this shark hoover picks up so much dirt every time! It is not really ideal for stairs, you will need to buy an additional head but we have managed with what you get for now. I have had a small amount of hair on the roller but it is nothing like what we used to get with other hoovers.
It’s only been 5 days, but there’s no competition between my previous upright VAX or the cordless VAX I purchased 5-months ago. The suction power is really good – there’s (so far) no tangled hair stuck in the broom head. The suction control is good for certain materials and high carpetted rug also. The pet hair attachment works WONDERFULLY. I bought the car attachments also but yet to use them. The cord is long enough also that you don’t have to change powerpoints so often.
The only downfall for me is that put together to use upright it a struggle because of no way to adjust the height, so as at 164cm tall it’s a bit awkward as weighs on the arm a lot and harder to navigate, but with the ability to lift off the main unit and just hold in my hand, the weight is no longer a problem so I can use it, just have to be little more careful with the cord. Defintely recommend!
op suction usage better than previous Dyson Dog Vacuum cleaner but is more difficult to manipulate than Dyson.
I would recommend this vac to anyone, the equivalent Dyson would have cost a lot more So all in all good value if it wasn’t so cumbersome would give it 10/10 instead of 8/10.
I got this today after having a Vax upright for the last 4 years and a Dyson before that.
Firstly, I always preferred the Vax over the Dyson, but the Shark feels sturdier and lighter than both.
This does not come with the stairs brush attachment but it does have a flat stairs attachment which was very effective anyway!
It is easy to put together, very easy to glide around, it is not mega loud, and it has these nifty bright lights on the nose of it so as you’re hoovering into the darker corners it brightens it all up so you don’t miss a thing!
The head is slightly narrower than the Vax so it now fits into spaces I couldn’t quite get into before so that is a nice bonus for me!
Ultimately, I never really felt the suction was so high (sometimes with the Vax I struggled to move it on Max suction power) but when I emptied the tank after the first use today, I was amazed at how much it had collected!! And it emptied way easier than the Vax ever did.
It is easy to take the unit off the stand and easy to take the tank off for emptying, and the cord length is certainly adequate.
Definitely good value, feels sturdy and lots of plus points over my last two! I recommend!
Bought for my new house after fancying a change from 30 years of using pull along cylinder vacuum cleaners. At first I was surprised at the weight as it’s heavier than I am used to, but now I don’t think about it at all. I love the way you can move around at angles with it and the light at the front helps to spot bits on the floor I might not otherwise notice. I did find it picked up a piece of thread which became tangled, but this was on first time use and perhaps I should have pressed the lift away button to prevent this.
My house is a new build and there is a lot of dust constantly settling on the floor, which is mostly noticeable on the hard floor areas. I have found there is still a film of dust after I’ve vacuumed over it; however, the detachable hose (which comes away very easily) picks up anything left behind. I bought this vacuum cleaner with 100 knocked off and feel what I paid was a fair price. I don’t think I would be as happy with it if I’d paid the full amount. Would recommend as a decent mid-priced cleaner, I wish I had stuck to a pull along cylinder vacuum cleaner for lightness and storage but that is just my personal preference and no reflection on the quality of this stand-up model.
After much deliberation, I bought this vacuum cleaner as a replacement for my 11+ year old Sebo Automatic Pet X4 which I knew would take some beating, despite some age related issues. The Shark is quite cute straight out of the box and only took a minute or so to assemble. I was expecting a heavy appliance given the reviews I read, but with two kids and a large dog, I figured it was probably a necessary evil. I have to say, I’m pleasantly surprised – it’s definitely a workhorse, but it feels slightly lighter and it’s definitely more manoeuvrable than my old vacuum. It’s also a little lower and reaches some previously inaccessible spots under furniture. (Retrieved a ‘lost’ iPad, so that was a bonus :-D).
There are three main bits that can be used in various ways (the handle/hose, the bin/container and the floor sweeping base part.) With one click, you can detach the handle from the bin/base in two places to provide either a long or short reaching hose; you can even remove the bin part in the middle and connect the short handle directly to the sweeper. I thought this was a bit gimmicky until I realised how useful having a 1ft mini-vac was for stairs, or doing a full carpet vac under furniture without the restrictions of the bulky bin. The upper part of the handle has switches for carpet / floor settings and airflow. My previous vacuum cleaner did this automatically, but I have to say it was great being able to vacuum upholstery without covers and cushions etc trying to disappear up the hose was a much-improved experience.
I was amazed by how much the vac picked up – and more significantly how much really fine dust it sucked out of the carpet. It works well on floor and carpet; it was better than my old vac in relation to hard floors in the sense that it didn’t have so much of a draught that had a tendency to simply blow dust and debris around. It doesn’t seem to have much, if any suction from the sides, which I do kind of miss. The tools work well – particularly the crevice/brush tool for skirting boards and corners. Might forgive my other half now for throwing my old ones away when we moved house 12 months into owning my old vac.
Features I’m slightly less impressed by include the bin. I’ve never used a bagless in anger before, but I was a bit shocked how small the dust collecting part of the box was (specially in this house?!) – I’ll certainly be emptying it more often – I imagine after every couple of uses. The bin detaches really easily, but I didn’t find it that easy to empty – the dust canister part is quite narrow, so it needed quite a few shakes to dislodge it into the bin. This is definitely an outside job – trying to empty it into a kitchen bin or even a bin bag inside the house was really awkward and messy.
I’ve only used it a few times, but I don’t find the buttons and release mechanisms instantly intuitive – the on off switch is on the midsection at about knee height; the two hose release buttons are in different places along the hose; maybe that’s just a consequence of having had the old vacuum cleaner for such a long time.
Overall I’m definitely impressed and pleased with it. It does an excellent job and is much more versatile than what I’ve been used to.
I have had my Miele 6210 pet vacuum cleaner for about 15 years, and always loved it. It’s nice and quiet and light (compared to the previous two vacuums I had which were Dyson). However, since getting a dog earlier this year, it has started to smell of dog when I use it (blowing out of the filter), so I changed all the filters and the bag and washed the pipes and cleaned what I could, and then decided that I would keep the Miele for upstairs (where the dog doesn’t go) and get a Shark (as it is bagless and will hopefully be easier to keep clean and non-smelly) for downstairs.
I ordered the Shark on Tuesday afternoon and it arrived yesterday evening and I assembled it straight away and vacuumed a small area of carpet. I was amazed at what it got up from the carpet, and all I can say is WOW! The Shark has sucked up dust from my carpet that I didn’t know existed, and even more scary is I washed the carpets not even a week ago so am stunned at what this Shark has sucked up. I showed my husband this morning, and with an empty collecting tank I vacuumed a small area of carpet (over what I did last night) and he couldn’t believe what went in to the collecting tank. I always thought I had a lovely clean house (I am a bit OCD – even with a dog and cat – and husband haha – and very house proud) but clearly not!
I know I’ve only had the Shark not even a day, but long may this continue. If you are debating whether to buy one or not, I’d say go for it. Its definitely worth the money. I have debated over this for a couple of months and when it came in to the Black Friday deal, I thought “why not” and right now, I’m so glad I did – it’s definitely worth every penny.
A bit heavy for an “eighty-year-old”” to carry upstairs and a bit complicated to read the instructions for someone with sight impairment
An excellent machine but a bit heavy to take upstairs for an eighty year old! Also – the instruction booklet is hard to read for someone slightly sight-impaired.
So after many recommendations and reading great reviews, I decided to treat myself to a new vaccum.
I’d used the vax air pet for ages and have always found that powerful and durable, but, after 5 years of daily use, the smell of old dog hair when using it was too much and just left the room smelly.
I went for this shark and have to say I’m thoroughly impressed with how powerful it is and how much hair it gets up – my carpets look like new! I thought the old vaccum did an excellent job, but this really has gone beyond. I go over the carpet with a carpet brush after vaccuming to get up any left over dog hair, as they really get lodged into the carpet, and the amount I’ve got up after each use of this is almost non existent.
Only a few slight issues: the dirt cylinder is very small – I’ll have vaccumed about 2m of carpet that contains labrador hairs and it needs emptying again, so I’d say owners of labs/heavily shedding dogs should be prepared to constantly empty it.
The anti hair wrap feature does absolutely nothing (see pictures)
The Other part is that I don’t quite understand why it has completely unnecessary ‘headlights’ on it – they’re too bright (for me), and make it hard to see what you’re cleaning (my house isn’t overly bright and I may as well be vaccuming in the dark), which I think is the opposite of what they’re supposed to do.
I am cleaner, and I have worked with many different brands of hoovers. And I can honestly say this is the best for suction power so far. I have always been a fan of rhe Dyson (but not the cordless as they are shocking) The bane of my job is dealing with a hoover that doesn’t do its job properly, it Makes my job a little more difficult and more time consuming.. this one ticks all the boxes for me. I dont take it to work but I have 3 daughters all with long hair, plus myself. And I have not found this to be a problem with hairs tangling around the brush head. It actually does as it says. There may be the odd few, but nothing in comparison to the other hoovers I have. I am a clean freak, and I currently have 4 hoovers ( ) but I love this one. It is a bit on the heavy side though, but I am early forties, so still really young , and fit, so i can handle it well. People say the dust bin is a little on the small side. Which it is, but who isn’t near a bin when cleaning. We don’t all live in mansions with only one bin on hand. Its not a problem. I live in a five bed house and not had to empty it yet while cleaning in one go, but i suppose its because I hoover regularly. Again not an issue. From one cleaner to another, I do recommend this hoover, however I did wait for it to come on sale. .
This is the best vac I’ve ever had, and as an honest review – here it goes
1. It’s sleek and stunning in appearance
2.its so powerful I was pretty sure it was going to suck up my whole thick shag pile rug and leave nothing behind, I’m serious
3.its easy to manoeuvre and also solid enough where you can feel the pure excellence and high quality of the vac.
4.it has a lovely bright light on the base so you can clearly see the section of ground you are cleaning and it highlights each bit of dirt or crumb
5.it cleans up dust you didn’t even know existed and cleaves a lovely clean scentless finish due to its allege dust seal which is fab for me as I suffer from severe allergies and asthma.
I have owned russel hobbs, vac, Dyson, dirt devil and morphy richards vacuum cleaners previously and this shark vacuum beats them all, hands down.
I genuinely can’t recommend this item enough
Don’t normally write reviews but this is a great product. Best suction hoover I’ve owed, I’m used to continually hoovering using cordless GTech, now it’s once a day at most and even then I’ve even had to reduce the suction. I went for the corded model as I was tired of battery life on cordless models decrease with age. Pet hair removal works really well, I’ve not had to cut hair out of the rollers like before (two hairy dogs and a cat) My light grey carpets have never looked so clean. Amazed on how much it collects every time. Some maybe put off with the heavier weight compared to cordless version but a worthwhile trade off if you have pets. Mine didn’t come with pet tool for stairs so I may buy that separately for the extra 20 online. Hard to fault, if you can live with a cord, and does require to be emptied more regularly but I see that as a positive on how well it picks up. I’m not one for spending out on “tech” but this came up on Black Friday deals and it’s been worth the spend. Would totally recommend.
This knocks socks off the Dyson. I have always had Dyson’s but am fed up of them being so over priced and not great value for money.
I wish I’d found out about Shark a long time ago.
I have two teenagers with the worlds longest, thickest hair but that isn’t a problem for the Shark at all. I love that it has lights and bumpers, way less marks and dents on the skirting boards when the children use it!
I would 100% recommend this and especially if you’re a Dyson user!
Happy hoovering!
So far so good. My 3rd Shark vac and this little beauty sucks like a demon. Not tried a full house vacuum but it was impressive in my main kitchen / diner making short work of sand, grit and dog hair.
Smaller head is good for getting under bits of furniture and the LED lights operate in both carpet and hard floor mode (unlike my previous Shark). Really hoping this one stands the test of time
Great performance. Bought as my old vacuum was not up to scratch. Got this and was shocked at the difference! It practically lifts the carpet! The results were amazing and I was embarrassed at the amount of filth in my carpets, with no help to my previous vacuum. Only downside is, it’s very heavy. I think someone not as able bodied would struggle to manoeuvre
I bought this anti wrap hair cleaner for my wife as she loves shark cleaners and we have 2 moulting dogs! However, my wife has just removed a big pile of dog hair (half a dog) from the roller tightly wrapped around it and it is continuing to get caught in the bristles. I bought her this cleaner so she wouldn’t have to resort to using scissors again on the roller to cut it all out. We might as well have saved the money and carried on using our existing Shark!
Great vacuum cleaner. Good suction on carpets and hard floors. Reduced hair clogging from the roller and brush combo. Also it can be used in various modes – standard upright, long tube, short tube or detach body to hold in one hand and just push the stick. Lost a star due to poor design of the clip to hold the tube in place.
Suction excellent, manoeuvrability easy and responsive, really lifts the carpet pile and responds instantly to tiled floors. Really does keep the air well filtered and not a hint of smell or a sign of dust particles, until you notice what is in the dust box!! Criticism is that use on stairs is okay, but the cleaner is a bit on the heavy side and awkward to manipulate on each tread; not its strongest asset! Great cleaner value for money, more than compensates for its weight!
Great on wooden floors – no scratching . Ok on rugs but heavy to push on carpet .
I gave mostly hard floors so great for me .
Having had a Henry for 7 years, this vacuum has revolutionised my cleaning routine! Absolutely love it and would definitely recommend. Not overly light but manageable, and it picks up all my long hair which has previously caused real problems with getting stuck round the motor! It does fall over at the wrong angle but I would definitely buy again.
Picked up things i couldn’t even see, love the anti hair wrap, just what i needed! The lights are fab and it’s so quiet. Quite heavy on your arms when hoovering and i find the nozzles don’t go on their holders easily, could do with more flex on the small head for the stairs as it’s hard to get the angle. But its all stuff you can work around for a great vacuum
Used in a bungalow so no rating for stairs . Excellent performance and the hair removal feature a real asset having a dog who’s long hair creates a feltlike layer which was not picked up by other good quality vac . Personally I find it a little heavy BUT am elderly and badly in need of forthcoming hip replacement . I am sure that after my surgery the weight will be acceptable .
For years I have had Henry Hoovers – however finally gave in and decided to get this mainly due to the anti hair wrap and a permanently moulting Greek Rescue dog. Oh my word – this far exceeds my expectations. I went over a previously hoovered spot and was amazed at what came up – suction power is amazing. Stairs are now a doddle and it is so easy when cleaning the car as the lift away is small enough to sit on the seat why you vacuum which makes the task easier & a lot quicker. Very happy that I decided to switch and will never go back.
I have long hair and spent so much time unwrapping it from the roller of my old vacuum cleaner. I was amazed at how well the Anti Hair Wrap comb worked!! So simple to convert to a hand held unit for cleaning the stairs and the long cord means I don’t have to keep changing plug sockets. A great vacuum cleaner that does all I need it to, lighter than many that I tried but still has plenty of suction.
It doesn’t even feel budget when using it, it outperforms expensive Dyson models and has incredible suction.
The first time I’ve used this vacuum cleaner on thick carpets, it sucks out a thick layer of and like particles that even Dysons don’t reach. It has 4 layers of removable filters that are easy to clean.
The powered lift away is albeit quite heavy but excellent for cleaning stairs, it’s waaaaay easier and faster than using the standard small head. This feature also makes cleaning under beds and other small areas a breeze without having to move furniture.
There are two downsides to this vacuum cleaner which I don’t think take away much from the fact that it’s the greatest budget vacuum cleaner of all time: the first cannister is a bit small, but you can overcome this simply by emptying it often (it does pick up TONS of dust though), and the wire is quite short at 8m, I think the average is about 10m for others.
But still the best.
This’s a very decent and sturdy product. The height of it is good, the cord is long, the power is fine. For very little paper on the hardfloor (I didn’t have a chance to try on stairs or carpet), you may need to go for the second time. I’d suggest using and going on the floor slowly, no rush. Cause the power is there but it takes some time. The only negativeness for me was the heaviness of the full product. It was heavy for my husband either so I don’t think it’s about man/woman power. On the other hand its colour is lovely, white & orange. I’d recommend this VC, however maybe I’d prefer to pay a bit more and buy a more light weight Dyson. Overall, it’s good.
The suction power is excellent compared with my Dyson cordless(rop of the range) However I expected that comparing a cordless to cable shark. The anti hair facility works very well with no clogging. On stairs I found it to be both lightweight and versatile. It is so easy moving from carpet to hard floor at a press of a button. I would have give it 5*except for one reason. On carpets it is manoeuvrable but I find it very heavy to use. This is no good for frail or elderly due to that. As such I classed it as 4star.
This hoover is amazing. It has suction like no other , is extremely versatile, converting to its lift away mode in a second. I’m shocked by how much dirt, dust and pet hair that it has lifted even though I regularly hoovered with my other reputable model. It’s even lifted the pile on the carpet so it looks like new. Easy to empty and so quick to convert from floors to stairs to ceiling cobwebs. Plus we have noticed a better air quality in our house since using it. It’s now named Sharkey and is my new pet.
ice looking powerful machine. Its classed as upright but design made it very versatile so basically you can do same jobs as classic shape vacuums.
Pros:
1. Great suction power
2. Double roller powered brush
3. Hard floor/ carpet switch on wand handle (not on brush)
4. Brush stars as soon as vacumm cleaner is tilted( no switch)
5. Upright designe/ weight prevents carpet from lifting (very useful on small carpets not attached to floor).
6.Wersitality- detacheable brush, and stick,- brush works with every part on power mode.
Cons:
1. Weight/suction, – power comes with the price, for women it might be little bit heavy to move around( suction makes it harder to move)
2. Power brush not very comfortable on stairs and no powered mini brush.
3. No internal power cable storage ( I personally don’t mind outside hooks, but my other half do…
4. flexible hose –
if you attache it to wand a bit twisted it will go off( not a real issue)
Love this lightweight vacuum
I have previously had Dyson cleaners which have become worse by the model and I wanted to try something else
Having read others reviews I thought I’d give shark a go and I’ve not been disappointed
The only thing is the dust container is not very big and does need more regular emptying compared to what I’ve had before, however that’s not a bad thing
Read the reviews and realised that with three dogs and two cats no technology would end up entirely pet hair free on the roller. However did the hoover-again dance with the new spacey Shark and got a huge amount of hair from the carpet cleaned only yesterday with a tiny amount wrapped around the roller.
it is very quiet and highly manoeuvrable. thought it was going to eat my curly piled rug but it politely let it fall back after creating a rug wave.
easy to empty but needs a gently hand to put the collection box back.
like the little clip on the cord near the plug
a good purchase – very happy
We love this machine, light yet sturdy, easy to assemble and dismantle to use it for its many purposes. We had a Shark Cleaner before this one and loved it. Sadly it had been used for cleaning it wasn’t designed to do and got ruined, which we were unhappy about (not misused by us I hasten to add).
Apart from the suction and cleaning, it’s light to carry, yet sturdy to use, and that its allergy free and deals with those long hairs. What especially impressed me was how much quieter is it compared to previous ones. Our wee dog it terrified of the previous vacuum but he’s less spooked. Thanks Shark.
I’d happily write a review elsewhere, one a bit more articulate if Shark wanted to make contact.
The Shark Upright Vacuum is powerful at picking up dirt and dust on stairs, carpet and wooden floors. It has strong suction power and it has a light to guide you when you are hoovering in dark places. The only disadvantage would be the shortness of the length of the lead between two rooms, but it really is not a problem. I find this product excellent for the job it does.
We purchased this as a present for family members, but we have one almost identical. The liftaway is great, but the wand for stairs, curtains etc. is a little cumbersome and inflexible. It is difficult to clean car interiors and round a stairlift for example. It would be good to be able to just have a hose upon which to fix the attachments direct. The hose itself, like Dysons, is too rigid, and stretching it just ends up with the undesirable effect of knocking the body over. Despite these criticisms, the cleaner has great suction power, is easy to empty and maintain.
The Shark makes light work of my dog’s hair, relatively easy to move it around as well.
My only gripes are: The cable retaining clip keeps falling off, not strong enough to stay attached to the power cable, and the hose retaining clip fell out almost immediately, there doesn’t seem to be any way to fix it. Irritating , but not enough to downgrade the machine. Very happy with the performance. Easy to use on stairs too.
Modular nature of the machine is great in that you can take various bits of it apart to conduct different tasks (for example the suction hose & motor unit can be detached from the main body to make the cleaning the stairs easier.
Suction power great, tools good. much better than the last 2 dysons cleaners that we have had.
Good hard floors & Carpets (different settings), good for stairs (although not the lightest, being able to detach the motor unit a plus) and also good for the car (we bought the additional car tools). Overall Really happy.
Probably the best vacuum I have used. Great suction which is controllable with a slider, versatile with the lift away main body which let’s you get under low areas and the you have the wand section which let’s you reach high. The hose on is quite short and not much give on it but I assume that’s because the power cord is very long, up the stairs, landing and into bedroom. Not the lightest to manover when fully assembled if you struggle with your wrists etc. However it can move in wierd and wonderful directions. The light on the front is useful and it’s easy to empty. I have read in a previous review that it got hair tangled on the roller on first use and this also happened with me but if you read the instructions this is quite normal and on continuous use it gets stripped away this is also true, it was gone after another couple of times used. Be careful who you order from as the first one we ordered never arrived and still no refund a month on. I try and make sure now that I only order items that are sold by Amazon. Very disappointed by Amazon that this is taking so long. Hope this review is helpful.
Easy to assemble following the clear instructions. I’ve only tried it once to test it out -after if hoovered with my old vax -and I can’t believe how much more dirt it has picked up..! The suction is amazing..! It will be interesting to see how I get on manoeuvring the hoover as I’m not used to such a flexible product and it’s not all that light. So far so good though..! I’m looking forward to cleaning again haha..!
I chose this as it was no1 on the best hoovers list I found on the internet. Very pleasantly surprised how you can turn an upright into a hand held machine, by disconnecting the heavy bit – I usually buy uprights then they fall over when you use the cord bit. Really like the extra length of cable, means I can reach the other rooms in my house without replugging. The waste holder does need emptying more frequently than I am used to but I can get used to that . I cam see why this machine was on the top list and glad I made the change from the usual brand I buy!
My daughter and I have both got long hair and this has caused the death of every hoover I’ve had. Then, I bought this bad boy, wow! It is brilliant! The suction is amazing, it’s brought my rug up like new. It really does suck up hair no probs!!
Just press the button and it changes to hard floor. It’s so quiet!
I give it a big fat 10/10. Buy it, you will not regret it.
So far so good! I’ve been using a battery charged Dyson and that has been a big disappointment as only last for 15 mins charged. Today using the Shark it was great to hoover the whole house in one go. Very impressive suction. The only downside is it’s very heavy compared to Dyson.
I used to hate using a vacuum cleaner, then I got this one as a gift. I think that the only reason I never liked vacuum cleaners before is that they were sub-par, to say the least. This one is brilliant. A bit heavy, (at least compared to what I was used o) but you get used that quickly, and it cleans well. We live in the countryside with dust, dirt, animals, cleaning has never been so thorough!
Shark is a star! I’ve been looking for a vacuum cleaner for some years now. I used Dyson previously, and the early models were great, but then they started innovating… The ball upright vacuum is a big disappointment. I tired VAX. This was ok, but broke quite quickly. It also had serious design flaws. I tried cheap vacuums, but these were completely useless. Shark is excellent in pretty much every area. I have floors and thick long pile carpets, and finding the right vacuum was a huge challenge. This machine is just excellent. Picks up everything from any surface with ease! The anti hair wrap does work really well. We have three females with very long hair, and all the other hoovers were full of wrapped hair. Shark solved the problem, amazing! It is light, easy to push, in fact it pules itself. Hoovering a thick carpet is not a problem any more. The big head can be used for hoovering stairs as the whole thing can be easily clicked and unclicked in different configurations. Everything fits perfectly and works perfectly. And believe me, I haven’t been paid for this review. I’m an engineer, and I just appreciate good design and the thought that went into this machine. Good materials as well. Wheels are rubbery, so they won’t scratch your floor or bounce on it. Just great. However, I returned this particular model as it had a slightly too small dust compartment for my liking. We have a lot of floor surface, so I replaced with a bigger model. But, for a smaller house, absolutely not a problem, in fact it is lighter and easier to manoeuvre than the big one. 100% recommended. Don’t look elsewhere.
I bought this to replace a 6 year old dyson.
It works really well as expected on both carpet and hard floor with a simple slide of the button on the handle to change floor type.
It can be used in several different ways by removing various components to make it more manoeuvrable and usable which is very handy.
The dust container isn’t huge but who cares it only takes seconds to remove and empty.
The only negative is that the design of the hose enters the hoover at mid height so if you use the hose whilst still attached to the hoover 99% of the time it pulls the hoover over and it ends up laying on the floor.
I would definitely recommend this hoover.
Ten out of ten in every category, but it made me realise just how dirty my last vacuum left the carpets…
I’d *just* hoovered when this arrived, but managed to collect another two inches of dirt and dust by going straight over with this again. – It’s so damned easy to use and manoeuvrable too. – Locating switches had me stumped at first, the hard floor/carpet button being the trickiest, but now I know where everything is it’s as easy as pie.
Emptying and cleaning it is a doddle too. The modular design means everything opens/separates with the press of a button, and clicks back together readily.
Oh, and it’s far quieter than my last one too (a ten year old Dyson.)
Seriously the best vacuum I have ever owned. I think the lights are a waste of time but aside from that it works brilliantly. Was hesitant but my Dyson animal ball gave up the ghost and I hadn’t ever liked it anyway. Had a dyson before that and I had thought it was good but I thought I would take a chance with a shark. Best decision I could have made. I only wish I had given shark a look before. It all clips together and I clips so easily to make all the combinations you would wish for. Empties easily. I just love it. I have not been paid or even asked for a review but am so Impressed with it. I could write all day about it but don’t have time so just get one try it out….. I guarantee you will love it too. Thanks people at shark. I will never give Dyson another look.
For the last 15 years, we’ve been using another well-known brand of hoover, but then we got our Shetland Sheepdogs! They tend to leave hair everywhere and that meant that for every 10 minutes of hoovering, 10 minutes were spent removing hair from the vacuum’s brushes.
The Shark vacuum has made our lives much easier. As many reviewers have said, it is a heavy machine, but it moves easily and the suction is fantastic. A few hairs sometimes stick to the brushes but they can me removed in seconds.
Overall, a great vacuum which I’d recommend to any pet owners.
I purchased this item as my previous hoover was just not up to standard, and this product was available on sale.
I have heard lots of good reviews about Sharks, so decided to give them a try and now I would not be without one!
I have a cat and a dog, and my house has tiles, wooden, carpeted and lino flooring with multiple pieces of vet bed in the lounge.
I have always struggled with hoovering stairs due to chronic health conditions, and living in a 3 storey house, it was impossible to hoover in one go. However, for the first time I was able to. This Shark is super lightweight, and has a ‘lift away’ feature that is perfect for stairs, it also has a specific attachment that is extremely powerful and picks up lots of debris you don’t even see on the stairs!
It glides seemlessly between the different surfaces and picks up all different sizes of debris. I was previously having to empty the hoover at least 5 times per full house hoovering, but now I can do it in less than 2! Perfect! One of the best features is the anti hair! My partner has long hair that gets everywhere, and I was forever pulling it out of the old hoover, but now it’s like he’s not losing any hair at all! Magical!
The downside to the hoover is that is corded, but if I plug in the hallway, I can reach to the back door, and most of the way to the upstairs bedroom. It does also mean there’s no chance of running out of charge. It has a very bright light that helps you see those little bits you may have missed too.
I used to love hoovering, but my last hoover ruined the experience for me, to the point I dreaded it. Nowadays, I’m super happy to get Sharky out as it’s so powerful, lightweight and easy to use so it puts very little stress on my body.
I have recommended this product to people on multiple groups and in lots of conversations as I’m so pleased with how it has improved my life.
Absolutely love this machine. Never thought I would enjoy vacuuming so much. The anti hair wrap is a fantastic feature, having long hair myself and two dogs I was forever having to untangle hair wrapped around the brush of my previous Dyson, not any more! Compared to my previous vacuums its not as noisy and the dogs are not bothered by it at all (got a very scatty dog that is scared of everything, now he follows me about whilst vacuuming). The collection cylinder is small and does need emptying quite often. Its amazing how much dirt and dust accumulates in a few days. The lights on the front highlight any dirt and also makes the machine look futuristic (my partner thinks it resembles an alien). It can feel quite heavy but is actually lighter than my previous Dyson so this isn’t a problem for me. Doing the stairs is so easy with the lift away feature and with the powered pet brush the stair carpet hasn’t looked so good since the carpet was laid. I cannot praise the vacuum enough and wish I purchased this sooner.
After the vacuum cleaner arrived I thought I would give it a whirl, I had used my Dyson earlier so didn’t expect it to pick up much dirt, I was shocked, there was so much suction it felt like it was picking up the carpet, the amount of dirt it collected was stunning, I thought the carpet was clean before I used the Shark, I have twin daughters and have long hair myself and was really pleased how much hair was collected. This vacuum is great although a little heavier than I expected but worth it to know my carpets and floors are now really clea
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this machine, with a house full of girls with waist length hair and a long haired cat, this just cleans it up like its nothing, easy to empty, so powerful, really cleans deep down. As a person who goes through a lot of vacuum cleaners, i can honestly say that this is the best by far. Even the top of the range ones you can buy, i have had them all. This is my new favourite toy.
I absolutely love my new shark vacuum! I’m a notorious vacuum buyer, I’ve had loads of them and this shark is by far my fave to date!
I’ve managed to reach all the spider webs that accumulated on my weird shaped stairs which is great considering I’m 5’4 in height, I always seemed to be slightly to short to reach with any other hoover so the lift away feature is brilliant.
The anti wrap hair feature is fantastic I have literally not got anything stuck in the brushes on the hoover since using it for the last week. I also have 3 dogs and a cat no pet hair has got stuck so far, it also leaves no hair anywhere.
The little headlights on the front are super handy as you can see that you are not missing anything when vacuuming on hard floor or carpet.. Especially the hard floor if you have pets and the hair blends in with the wood floor you can often miss the hair when hoovering not anymore.
Suction is strong an dconsiderably strong on carpets.. I only have one room with carpet that’s my sons bedroom and it’s brought some bounce back to the carpet.
Easy to clean the stairs with the liftaway feature and the cord being nice and long.
On looks and appearance of the shark I love the shape and style of this vacumm it has a really stylish build.
Great Shark vacuum. This is the second that we have purchased. Bought this as an upgrade, some really good new features. The combinations to get under tables/chairs/furniture is great. Suction is of the chart, which actually makes the vacuum seem heavy when pushing. Adjust the suction power and you’ll see its not weighty at all.
There is a new switch on the handle which allows you to switch between carpet and hard floor seamlessly. Trademark Led lights remain at the front. There is now some form of rubber bumber, not noticeable to the eye really but now there are no loud bangs of you tap a wall etc while doing the carpets.
Then the colours. Really like the upgrades to the styling. A small thing that in the grand scheme of things doesn’t matter but it does make the vacuum look much more modern.
