Likes: lighter, more agilenn with great suction. Smaller footprint. Innovative design.

    Dislikes: nothig to report.

Other comments:. Unless you have a really dirty home or prefer not to empty frequently, the size of the output bin isn’t a problem.

As a long time Dyson fan I would have gone for a new Dyson but wanted a corded and they don’t do them anymore. So after a lot of reading reviews I bought this to see how it compares.
I tested this against my trusty Dyson DC07 by doing half the carpet with the Dyson and half with the Shark, then switching and seeing if either pulled out more dirt (after emptying the bins of course).
Result was neither pulled out more dirt so I would say they both perform equally.
Weight wise the DC07 is heavier to lift but lighter to push !
The Shark is easier to negotiate being steerable
The light on the Shark is certainly useful to see the dirt in the darker places.
The shark gets under furniture better
The Dyson has a slightly wider collector at the front but I cant say a noticed it take longer to cover the same area with the Shark
The Shark is MUCH quieter (it doesn’t scare our cat!)
The Shark cleans hard floors better than the Dyson.
The “lift away” complemented with the extra purchase of the stair turbo tool makes stairs much easier
The cord grip is annoying on the Shark. It doesn’t hold it well and I find myself forever bending to pick the cable from the floor.
Overall I think this is a good replacement for the Dyson and will be keeping it.

Because it’s so strong the small head attachment wears out quite quickly

Only started using, so based on a month. Very well put together with clear instructions as to how to set up. I like the settings for hard floors, thin pile and thick pile carpets. It is easy to take apart and clean as necessary. A reasonable dust bucket which is very easy to empty. The suction is fantastic and my carpets and floors looked visibly cleaner afterwards. I have dogs and have not had any trouble with pet hair. It picks that up without difficulty. It comes with a brushing tool, a bayonet and a pet-cleaning tool. The last is fantastic for the stairs. It is corded, so no loss of power and need for re-charging. While not being cordless might be seen as a disadvantage, the “lift away” more than makes up for this and makes cleaning the stairs easy. I am impressed with how adaptable this machine is. It comes apart nicely to allow for different lengths of wands etc. I do think that all the annoying things that happen have been thought about and put into the design to make is easier. I get the impression it is built to last, but in our current commercial climate of not building things to last and compromising on quality for cheapness, I will not hold my breath. I would recommend.

This is my third vacuum in fours years so certainly had my fingers crossed for this one. My previous vacuum was a Vax Pet but the roller broke, despite cleaning it after each use.
The first thing that ticked my box for the Shark was it’s ability to be free from hair tangle on the roller. This has so far proved to be an absolute winner.
All the buttons are clearly labelled and it’s a doddle to switch from hard floor to carpet. The ‘headlights’ are actually more useful than I’d thought. The bin compartment isn’t too bad, I usually only have to empty it twice for a three bedroomed house, upstairs and down.
The ability to vacuum the downstairs carpet is exceptional on pet hair (6 cats and 1 dog). The carpet is spotless and on hard floors everything is sucked up completely.
The stairs proved no issue. The cord length is reasonable and I have plug sockets just in the right place. It’s not particularly heavy or cumbersome in use.
The vacuum manoeuvres very well and is gentle on the wrist and back.
If I was to be critical I’d say that I wished manufactures would ditch ‘glossy’ plastic that is highly static and turns the product into a dust magnetic. Your new vacuum won’t look sparkly and new for long.
Overall, excellent buy. This one gives me the confidence of longevity.

    Very impressed

First new upright cleaner for 30 years (been wasting time with Bosch & Hoover cylinders) and first ever bagless. Wonderful suction (mostly carpet, with very little hard surfaces). Easy to empty and all filters easy to get at, and 2 of 3 washable (useful to have spare filters to swap in while others dry – available on amazon). Delayed this review until 15 months from purchase to see how it stood up in use as there is a plethora of plastic components: so far, so very good. Good features include light to see into dark corners and ‘liftaway’ for use in lighter form in hand. One dodgy design element is the ball clip to hold the loop of the flexible suction pipe close to the rigid upright: it doesn’t hold, altho can be improved by moving the clip further up/down the suction pipe, but not a significant inconveneince. One of the rollers in the carpet head includes a soft velour fabric which has surprised by not showing any signs of wear yet. The little springs and plastic clips to hold the removable rollers in the head look very fragile, but again, no problems yet. As a bonus for any engineer user, the styling and construction are a hoot and provide hours of amusement contemplating the value engineering of the product: the extra operations (cost) that has gone into styling elements that are reminiscent of 1950s US cars or 1970s Japanese cars and the huge number of loose components for final assembly point to a relatively low labour cost vs tooling cost in manufacture (despite this potential for supplying low cost small item spares, some comment that spares are only sold in larger – therefore more expensive – assemblies). It also scores well in Which reviews, both generally and against other bagless cleaners for reliability.

I bought this cleaner to replace a Dyson Animal, which, despite regular filter cleaning and replacement just wasn’t hacking it. To be honest, I’ve become rather disillusioned with Dyson cleaners of late… expensive and heavy.

The Shark is a delight. Others have commented that the cleaner is flimsy, but in my experience everything fits together nicely and easily. It’s very light too – perhaps this is what people mistake for flimsiness?

The Shark navigates the nooks and crannies of a room with ease, and the LED lights help to get right into dark corners.

So, how does it clean? Our house has three dogs and three cats, so the loading from pet hair and dander is significant. I ran the Shark over a carpet that had been recently cleaned by the Dyson and was left with a swath of what looked like brand new carpet. Amazing.

Any downsides? Just one – the collection bin is rather small and fills quickly, necessitating frequent trips to empty it, but to be honest it’s a small price to pay for clean carpets again.

    Strongly recommended.

Been using Dyson most of my adult life, always swoke by them, but given the problematic nature of Dyson the comapny I decided not to give them any more money and went for this, and honestly never had such a good vacuum in my life. It beats them on suction, easy of use, it has a light on the front that helps highlight what you are vacuuming up. It has various configurations and power settings for carpet and wooden floors. I got this in a sale with 175 so I feel like I got an even better bargain. Won’t ever get a Dyson again and thanks to comapnies like this I’ll never have to.

We’ve named him Bruce, the shark from Nemo.

    Does what it should.

Picks up the dirt, gets in the corners.
The lift away is fab, emptying is easy, cleaning it every few months is easy too, just put everything in the airing cupboard to dry, once washed and reassemble.

Best vacum cleaner we’ve had and we’ve had a few, including a Henry and a Kirby.

Having bought this product in Jan 2021, it developed an issue in November when the brush head casing cracked and eventually the hoover became unusable. I contacted Amazon who put me through to a Shark representative. After several minutes on the phone and then sending pictures of the damage on i was told the part wouldnt be available until 18th Dec 2021 and would then be distributed out. I was also told this was a wear and tear issue and not covered under the 12 month warranty but as it shouldnt have happened, it would be replaced as a gesture of good will. I’m hopeful the part will arrive soon.

Absolutely thrilled with this vacuum and I should know as I am the proud owner of no less than 7 vacuum cleaners! Whilst I have a Shark cordless (pretty good but 2 battery packs are essential) it does not compare to the suction power of this. I also have 2 Miele cylinders (one bagless and one bagged) and the Shark wipes the floor with them both! This machine is just amazing. Everything at your finger tips and the whole cleaner is solid and study and clunk’s together easily. The powered lift away is fantastic for the stairs and the attachments are perfect for the vast majority of household requirements and the suction power is A1. My house is cleaned every day with a eufy robovac and also a cordless Shark. On the first clean with this vac, I had half a dustbin full of dust and cat hair. The suction pulls up the carpet pile and cleans the surface better than any other cleaner I’ve owned.
A couple of points to note, it’s is considerably heavier than a cylinder or cordless vac. And the suction power is so good, it can be difficult to push on carpeted surfaces (if so just adjust the floorhead setting and it will become easier)
The only downside is the cable length, at 8m it is still too short for open plan living and larger properties and I find it frustrating to have to frequently unplug and replug. If Shark could make a version with a longer cable I’m sure it would be popular. Apart from that, it is my go to Vacuum. And whilst the Eufy is still in daily use (they are fantastic auto vacs) The Miele’s are resigned to the garage and the Shark takes centre stage. It’s just brilliant!

Suction is so strong it makes the hoover feel twice as heavy! Okay for me at 26 but my grandmother cannot use it for example as it’s not easily moved on full suction power BUT suction power can be reduced.

Purchased in September 2021, it’s now November 2021. The hoover itself feels of good quality, has a great design for coming apart and getting used before going back together again. I like the light function on the hoover. Makes it easier to see dirt on the floor. Only issue with the light is I have no idea what to do or how to replace or sort it if it breaks or no longer works. The hoover is a bit inconvenient to use on stairs. When using the hose like any other hoover it wobbles and can fall over which is frustrating. The hoover moves well and isn’t too heavy. Overall so far I’m happy and I’m happy that shark products come with manufacturer warranty

Have used dysons for years and the last one packed up.
Had seen the sharks and a few family members have one, so thought surely cant be that good,
First time i used it, set to carpet mode, blimey – i thought it was going to rip up the carpet, the suction is incredible.
I hoovered the carpet first with the dyson, then went over again with this, i couldn’t believe the amount that it pulled up.
Cord is huge so not needing to re-plug in every room.
Doing the stairs is easy with the release of the top section.
Will not be rushing back to another brand any time soo

Best suction of any vacuum we’ve ever had. Actually embarrassing to see how filthy the carpets were. We had a new carpet laid months ago and the amount of the small fibres you get in new carpets that it sucked up was unreal. (after months of doing with the old machine). Convenient to be able to dismount motor and carry it with you, makes stairs a doddle. Wife has long hair and always clogged up the old one; the no-hair clog feature on this really works! Some might find it a bit heavy but do we not spend a lot of time nowadays belittling the fact that most things we buy feel like “cheap plasticky crap” so theres no way I’ll mark this down for having a bit of weight about it. Coming from a using a cylinder machine you have to get used to the cable being a bit in the way again but you just have to adapt your technique to sort this. The handle/wand part is a wee bit more cumbersome than the simple long handle on our old cylinder machine but you get used to it and the on/off button just at your thumb is very convenient to use. The handle has 3 settings for different surfaces and this does work slightly as a power control but I think what is missing is the ability to reduce the power even further for more delicate jobs; it wants to eat rugs its so powerful. Again how could I mark it down for being too powerful?? Just adapt your technique and for lightweight rugs use the wand with the brush attachment and not the powerhead.

I got this to replace an old cordless gtech that was on its last legs. I expected better suction with this being a wired model, but after assembling (which was mercifully straightforward) I switched it on and went over the rug that the gtech had been pushing dirt around for years, and before I knew it, the shark was already a quarter full of ground in dust and grime. It’s a powerful beast.
I then tried the pet attachment on the furniture, and after a few brushed over it looked visibly cleaner.
I then pushed out around the front room and kitchen, and it picked up all the small particles that were visible, and it managed larger bits that would just get pushed around by the gtech.
The big selling point for this model for me was the anti hair wrap roller. Living in a house with 3 long haired people and a cat (I don’t add to the problem by keeping my hair little more than stubble). So far so good on that point, no sign of any hair left on the roller.
Is easy to use, although the suction on it does take a little bit of effort to push,
    particularly on deep piles.
You can disconnect the main unit from the stick, letting you get low and in to harder to reach places. The end can also be detached to reach high up, it’s easy to get to the ceiling with it.
Noise wise, it’s a lot quieter than the gtech, and has an almost pleasant jet engine sound. The pet brush is a bit noisier, but still quieter than the gtech mk2 it replaces.
The 8 metre cable makes up for the reduced portability, it’ll easily reach from the living room, down the hall and in to the kitchen.
All in all, I’m impressed with my first impressions.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have a Hetty Hoover, she’s fantastic at most things but….she’s bloomin cumbersome. So, I bought a Shark! Why didn’t I think to buy one before I don’t know.
It arrived in a box. Open it up to find the Shark box, which has no plastic packaging inside (love this idea). Really simple instructions to put together. Now, I had already Hoovered our rug. I have long hair and the cat, well she’s a dirt bag so there’s fluff everywhere! So I thought it was all clean, how wrong was I. Three settings take you from hard floor to thick carpet/rug. Turned it on and ran it over the rug, so much easier to use than the Hetty, it glided over. Some say it’s heavy, well, it’s not light but I didn’t have any trouble with it all and I literally have no upper body strength haha After finishing the rug, I looked at the “dirt holder”, oh my days, I was revolted and amazed at the same time. It was half full, which begs the question, what on earth has Hetty been doing all this time (lazy mare)? At that point I felt the need to do the rest of the house. Suction is fantastic, and my hair doesn’t get tangled up. Using it on the stairs is simple too. I absolutely love this. Just to be clear, I haven’t been paid to write this..I just really like i

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAfter the disappointment of our last Dyson, I thought I’d try a Shark as everyone seems to favour them these days. First off, I probably made a mistake in going for the higher power version. If you’ve got moderately thick pile rugs or carpets, you’ll have forearms like Popeye pushing this thing around. Really hard work, such that my partner simply can’t use it. Much better on hard floors, where it’s easier to push and quite maneuverable. I particularly like the lights that help you see into corners and under items. My biggest bugbear is when you are using the wand. As the motor and hose connection are quite highly placed on the unit, the high centre of gravity means that if you stretch the hose even a small distance away, the unit falls over. In practice you have to hold the unit with one hand and the wand with another. Not ideal, and again it’s pretty hard work.

Overall, I’m a bit disappointed. I expected a better experience. I’m not sure I’d go so far as to say avoid it, but don’t be tempted into the higher power version unless you’ve hard floors throughout.

I live in a flat- but it’s versatile to use for high or difficult to reach places
The wand and motor disconnect easily from the main shaft- I bought with monthly payments! Great way to spread the cost- I have a cleaner so wanted a reputable and versatile hoover. Only down side is the corrugated tube has a ring attached that then slots into something on the wand to stop the tubing waving about BUT the attachment keeps coming away- nuisance but doesn’t effect it as a hoover needs that “anchoring device” re-evaluating! As doesn’t donuts job. Very easy to empty- and opens bottom and top of collection cyclinder- Great and would recommend

I had to buy a new vacuum because I killed my old Miele. I thought the Miele was great until I bought this Shark. The Shark sucked so much dust and dirt out of my carpet that I think the Miele must have just been pressing it into the carpet for the past few years rather than sucking it out.

I have used about 4 battery operated cleaners in the past few years which although good did not have the power to do the work efficiently and usually I buy a spare battery because one battery only gets the job half done in our house. I decided to go back to a plug in and this one is one of the best I have used. The only thing I would say that it is quite heavy to use. If they could only make a really, really light weight vacuum that you could plug in it would be perfect.

This is a very good vacuum cleaner indeed. I like the accessories that come with it very much. The handle detaches for easy cleaning of stairs, for getting behind furniture and for reaching up to get cobwebs. It’s so powerful that, without the vent open, you almost feel like it’s pulling up the carpet. The dust collector is easy to remove and to empty. The lead is a very reasonable length too. My only gripe (and the reason I’ve given it 4 stars instead of 5) is that it is quite heavy.

Clearly I’ve never owned a hoover with suction as the Shark proved, I hovered before it arrived, went over the carpets with a squeagy used for the shower (I have 3 cats) this pulled loads more hair up so I hovered again on receiving the Shark I hoovered again and the dust and hair it pulled put of the carpet was disgusting, honestly, my carpet looks new again.

Amazed by this vacuum, coming from a handheld dyson, I was already expecting a decent hoover, but honestly, I couldn’t believe how much dust it picked up. My carpet looks 100x better even feels better; It worked everywhere kitchen, stairs, living room, genuinely spectacular results and much easier to empty and clean.

I would recommend it to anyone who needs a vacuum with decent suction.

Generally speaking this is a fantastic vacuum cleaner. I only marked it down to 4 stars because A: The dust cup is really small and surprisingly fiddly to empty and B: the hose clip absolutely refuses to stay put. If Shark actually address these issues it would easily be 5 stars. However in terms of cleaning power I cannot fault it and thr staircase was a total breeze compared to my old Dyson thanks to the lift away unit.

    Fantastic vacuum cleane

Amazing suction, it actually cleans my carpets rather than just running over the same thing again and again. And with it being upright it doesn’t hurt my back. Definitely a keeper (though I’ve only had it a few days….)

For the past 10 years I have used the vacuum that most know. I am glad I changed. I did not expect to be impressed but I am. I have no stairs and no dog. The suction is far better than any vacuum I have ever owned. It is reasonably quiet. Easy to use. Easy to assemble. Compact with regard to storing accessories on the back. It lifts off to use the separate piece. Great. Good looking too. I would be happy to recommend. One downside, it did seem to have as much packaging as vacuum cleaner.

I have had every kind of vacuum available over the years from the soft bag Hoover to the giant American Kirby that cost a fortune to the cordless Dysonand this Shark is THE best! My carpets looked flat and not as clean as I would’ve liked with my last cordless effort which had cost a lot, and I was on the brink of getting new carpets when I decided to investigate vacuums and because of the reviews on the Shark I decided to give it a go. That was in May and my carpets now look like new. The machine is a pleasure to usejust the right weight, soooo easy to empty, unbelievable power and suction that can be altered to suit hard floors, normal carpet and shaggy rugs. The anti hair wrap technology I’d brill as I’ve wasted too much time in the past cutting and prising hair from rollersno more you would actually think my husband, me and the dog were bald. lOL. Everything you need is easily accessible and stored perfectly and because the Shark is so compact it is easy to store. Okay the wee holder thing for the hose is worse than useless, but it does not impact on the effectiveness of the vacuum in any way. The best 229 I’ve ever spent.

    The best vacuum EVER

Well . . . Whilst she’s not too sure on this adulting lark she’s really loving the vacuum when she does do adulthing. It was easy to put together and easy to use, easy to empty and does exactly what it claims.

I’ve always been faithful to a different brand of vacuum but wasn’t happy with their latest model so after reading all the comments on this Shark, I thought I’d give it a go. Yes it’s heavy but the lift away makes it so much easier for stairs, the sofa etc, absolutely fab idea. I read a few comments saying it leaves hair on the roller brush but compared to all my previous vacuum cleaners, the sharks no hair function actually works. We all have long hair and it’s always been a nightmare having to constantly remove hair from the roller but the shark is amazing. Yes there’s a few stragglers but by the time you’ve hoovered all over, it’s minimal. Don’t think I’ll ever buy another brand after this, LOVE it. 5 stars all the way despite it being quite heavy.

The suction power is one of a kind. It’s not as heavy as people say it’s just perfect. Only thing is, it’s awkward for stairs and the price is on the high side.

Good that it reduces down to a lightweight system for stair, the dust seen after just one use on what was a recently vacuumed carpet was amazing. Seems decent quality for a ‘mid-range’ cost of 160. I like the 5-yr Warranty too.

I thought Dyson is the best until I got this. I have long hair and god it was a nightmare to get them out from our previous Dyson. We also have a collie cross and she sheds so heavily that my other half would spend 2h cleaning the carpets first with the rubber to get the hair out and then with a hover. NO MORE!

We got Shark based on opinions from different forums and backed up by reviews. One of the best purchases. Cleaning the carpet takes max 20 min and no dogs or mine hair is rolled on the hover or left on the carpet.

It is slightly heavy so I could not reccomend it to older people. You can split hover in 2 parts and cary it in your hand so that will distribute the weight evenly. I have seen other comments saying how much dirt came out of freshly hovered carpet and OMG I did the same. Tried Dyson and followed with Shark. Even after 2 days of not hovering the amount of dirt is unbelievable( hmm… time to clean everyday maybe ) . We have it for few months now and still so so impressed!!! With a new baby on the way this is a life saver!

    Absolute must have!

This has got to be the best upright vacuum cleaner ever!! The suction is amazing and the amount of dirt, fluff and hairs that it picks up after one use is astonishing! I found that it was easy to navigate around my carpet and my kitchen hard floor, I released a little bit of the suction because fully on I did find it a tad tough to push around, but having said that it was no hardship to do that, infact what a brilliant way to have a workout! I love it and the lights on the front add that something extra and really helps to see in the edges and corners. The fact you have lift away is excellent for doing sofas, corners of ceilings etc. I would highly recommend this vacum cleaner. Yes it’s a bit pricey, but hey, with this you get what you pay for, and then some!

The girls in our family have very long hair and I was forever untangling it from our Dyson, so I decided to trust the reviews and go for a Shark this time. I hoovered the house before it arrived to be able to do my own test by hoovering again the same day with the Shark. I know I was comparing new with 3 years old but the amount it managed to pick up was shocking! The collection chamber was about 50% full after the whole house was done. The suction is so good that my carpets looked like they might lift around the edges. I also found the hose very flexible. Being frank, the only downside of this product is that it is so ugly. I thought I had ordered the black/red version but an orange/white version arrived. Neither would have been attractive. It’s almost as if they have purposely made it as offensive to the eye as possible. It will be confined to the cupboard between cleans but I will live with it based on performance.

Manufacture of the vacuum is very good and very satisfied on the whole, but there are a few issues which could improve the usage. For me, the vacuum is rather heavy and I do find continually having to handle and control the cable a problem. A cable retractor would be more beneficial. As others have also commented, the hose clip could be tighter to prevent it continually popping out.

Seems to work well. Doesn’t have edge to edge cleaning which my Dyson did, and I miss that as I have to use the pipe to clean edges. Also dust container is very small and needs emptying more often. But everything else is very well thought out and seems to work well. Cable is long, I can do pretty much my whole 3 bed house without unplugging. Everything is very practically thought out and so easy to use, from the pipe coming apart in two places with a quick press of a bottom, the roller coming off without having to take anything apart, the dust container and pipe lift away to become portable at the press of a button, you can adjust suction if you find it too powerful or hard to push. All so straight forward to use

I’ve had this vacuum for a few weeks now and I must admit it’s the best I’ve ever had and I have owned Dysons as well. It’s quiet but has excellent suction power. It has some lovely features that make using it a pleasure. It isn’t perfect, there are a couple of flaws but overall it’s really good. I’d recoomend getting the Car detail kit with it if you think you may want to clean smaller spaces. I use it for the car, runners in bifold doors and lego which gets very dusty on shelves.
This is very easy to use in the four modes, the first just being an upright vacuum which works well on both carpet and hard floors (there is a setting for both). The second way is when you need to get under something low and you simply lift off the main suction unit and then you have a long slim upright cleaner which goes 100% flat to go under sofas etc. The third configuration is lifting off the hose with a short wand, on which attachments can be placed. Finally you can lift off the hose with a long wand – excellent for hard to reach ceilings or cobwebs. People have noted that the hair still gets wrapped around the brushes. I haven’t noticed this but do give it a quick clean out every now and again and it seems fine. Another thing I read in the reviews was that the dust container was small. It’s definately not huge but I think it’s absolutely fine, I have a four bed house and can clean it all without needing to change halfway. The dust collector actually opens very easily from both ends to allow you to get all the dirt out – very good. I find the main handle for carrying very well balanced and don’t find it heavy at all.
Ok the two flaws I have found. Firstly the tube brush attachement we got with it, the brush part can slide up and down to allow a hard end or a brushed end, I find the friction stop here is very loose and it often slides up without you wanting it to – not a big issue but slightly annoying. The other is that when you have it on the hose the upright unit can tip over, basically the hose doesn’t reach very far so you end up reaching to that next spot and the vacuum falls over behind you. Again not a big deal, if you bring the main unit along with you as you clean.
Finally, I would again recommend the car detail accessories to go with this, it has made it such a verstile unit for us.

Got the stairs the hose isn’t long enough to leave the vacuum at the bottom, but the detachable ‘lift away’ makes it easier to do the stairs.
The tools that come with it are standard, I think I’ll invest in the smaller rotating head for the stairs.
Suction power, it doesn’t sound like it’s got great suction, but I’m mortified how much it does pick up each day. The house feels so much cleaner after a good hoovering.
The anti wrap hair is great for us. Myself and my daughter drop hair in ridiculous amounts. Although we don’t have thick hair, I’m amazing how well the hoover copes with me he amount of hair. It’s not 100% as there has been a bit of hair round the roller, but it is minimal, almost not worth mentioning.
I have already recommended this hoover to many people. I love i

First, before using it, what a treat – packaging was all recyclable cardboard and paper bags. No plastic or disgusting polystyrene in sight! Brilliant!!!!! Then I used the Shark on the carpet in a room that I clean with my old vacuum cleaner twice a day – the dust was half way up the Dust pod! I have developed asthma over the last few years and bought this cleaner for it’s use with allergy sufferers. I think it might just help!!!!! I’m really pleased with the Shark and hope it continues to work as it does today.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersPros:
    * lightweight but no loss of cleaning power.
    * “Lift-away” mechanism makes getting the cleaning head into confined spaces a breeze.
    * Handle / boom detach / attach mechanisms solid and easy-to-use when cleaning, making switching to tools really easy.
    * Relatively smooth and easy steering.
    * Handles both short and long pile carpets with ease, and Duo Clean makes moving from carpet to hardwood to rug (and the reverse) really smooth and easy.
    * Really does lift, cut and clear pet hairs with ease (we have two medium-haired mogs who seem to be in a constant state of shedding fur), with anti-tangle doing precisely what it claims.
    * Bin emptying from either end makes getting rid of collected dirt / debris easy and FAR less dust generating than our Dyson & with no fiddly “push this, pull that, turn the other” games.
    * “Headlights” are a real boon (and in no way a gimmick).
    * Comparatively QUIET. Runs at around 1/3 the noise generation of our Dyson upright – quiet enough for the cats to say, “oh look, a vacuum clearer”, rather than hitting the ceiling as soon as it is switched on, and then clinging to the light fittings until it is put away.

    Cons:
    * The connection between the main cleaning head and body of the cleaner feels a little flimsy when pressing down on the head to release the cleaner’s body ready for use.
    * Cat hairs and lighter debris tends to collect around the top of the bin, giving a false impression of it being full when often it is not.
    * Accessory carry points only really fit the supplied crevice wand & stair / upholstery tool.
    * Upholstery / stair cleaning attachment weak – far better to get the “powered” head – although be aware this will substantially raise the noise level of the machine when in use & doesn’t comfortably fit the accessory carry points.

Having noted the cons, the first two can be dealt with through practice / keeping an eye on actual bin capacity.

The lack of real cleaning power with the supplied upholstery / stair cleaning is for us the only real negative. Certainly, it prompted the additional purchase of the “powered” accessory, which is excellent (the increased noise and the carrying issue noted above notwithstanding). At the time, this actually worked out cheaper than getting the 801UKT, which *includes* the powered accessory, which may not always be the case and so would advise checking the price of that unit against the 801UK + “powered” accessory head.

Overall, and with a month of regular use under its belt (twice weekly full house vacuuming + occasional additional use courtesy of the cats shedding on their preferred night-time sleeping spots), very pleased with the Shark and would recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI bought the Shark Upright Vacuum to replace a 25 year old Dyson cleaner. I didn’t know much about Shark, but the price was ok and reviews were good, and I made a bit of a rush purchase.

First impressions were that it’s tiny! I was surprised at how compact the Shark cleaner is, and it’s very light. This isn’t reflected in a lack of power though – it’s a very very effective vacuum cleaner that makes short work of cleaning. It’s compact size does of course mean the dust collection unit is quite small, and needs frequent emptying. This is quick and easy to do though and empties easily.

It’s lightweight and clever design makes it very manoeuvrable, it’s easy to change direction, and it’s compact enough to get into small spaces. I love this.

Oh, and it’s quiet! Much much quieter than my old Dyson.

It’s not all good however. It’s lightweight means it’s not very stable when you are using the attachments on the hose. The hose itself isn’t very stretchy, and a pull on it tends to pull over the cleaner – this is quite annoying!

The ‘Liftwaway’ feature is handy, and makes a good compact and portable cleaner to use on stairs and upholstery. But again the tight hose means it’s not easy to place the unit on the floor as it tends to get pulled over. But it works well as long as you hand holding it.

One minor irritation is that the power cord is attached quite low to the ground, which makes it easier to catch your feet on. There is a clip to hold it out of the way but it’s not that effective, and it would be nicer if the cord was higher up.

    The good:
    * Compact, manoeuvrable, and light
    * Very quiet
    * Powerful

    The bad:
    * Hose isn’t really stretchy enough
    * Power lead is annoying!

I love this vacuum cleaner even with it’s niggles., it’s powerful and quiet, and cleans great – almost perfect.

We replaced our previous vacuum cleaner Miele Blizzard x1 only after 2,5 years with this one since parts suddenly started to break and been very expensive to replace. Been feeling sad at first as we spent over 200 for it only to last 2 years but it turned out we desperately needed a new vacuum cleaner. The suction power is really good and we were shocked to discover how dusty our flat was even though we were vacuuming it every day with our previous vacuum cleaner and we do not have any pets but it turned out the suction power for Miele was very poor comparing to Shark even though they claimed carpet cleaning rate was B the carpets didn’t feel as fresh and clean as they are now.
We vacuum our flat now every two days and it still collects a lot of dust from the carpet which might be due to our old vacuum cleaner not doing its job well. My carpets after every time they have been vacuumed now seem like they have been professionally cleaned.
Shark also vacuums up the hair from carpet which Miele didn’t, just kept rolling them on the carpet until eventually I picked them up and threw in the bin. With one long hair women and two long hair girls this is a very big advantage and makes my hubby happy that they are not all over the flat anymore.
Overall I am extremely satisfied with the product the only thing is the material from upholestry tool came off after couple of uses, seemed like it was glued on the tool but otherwise vacuum cleaner it self without the tools is great. The quality of tools not that great, don’t seem like they will last long.

We have a Vax (booo) it was use able, we thought it was a decent vacuum. I mean how often do you look at something you used for nearly a decade and question its use? Well maybe we should have sooner…
9 years, we used the Vax and after it finally gave up (pipe busted and it was time to move on) we decided to look into a new hoover. Well times have changed, you have SOOOSOO many out there now, but having seen maybe 30 videos and other review sites the top 5 were always different but always had Shark Apex (NZ801UK) somewhere in the top 5 over the last few years. So we checked on Amazon to find it for 199.
Bought it and apart from one issue (which is the review for the pet hair attachment DO NOT GET 801T btw not worth the price for them attachements), anyways apart from the Pet attachment we did a test. The Vax still running and hanging in there we vacuumed the living room 3 times with the Vax. Then once with the Shark, it sucked up 3 full (bin? the thing the dust, and stuff goes in I have no idea what it is called). Any case 3 of them, was sucked up, I dread to think the amount of crude we had underfoot for decade now, that the vax did not touch. The carpet looks newer, smells better, softer, and I will not say it makes carpets like new, but in our case it pretty much did it was that much better.

Bought this as I have had a cylindrical cleaner for the last 15 years which finally wore out and I wanted the convenience of an upright for the replacement. This is an excellent cleaner – I was amazed (and slightly alarmed) at the amount of dust lifted from my (supposedly) clean carpet. Very easy to use and unit unclips from the handle to allow reach under furniture. Comes with combi brush/slim nozzle and upholstery cleaner attachments.

Oh and I thought my cyclonic vacuum was good. One vacuum of my sitting room and I was shockedat how much was vacuumed out by this cleaner. Time will tell if this vacuum continues to perform well but today I’m very happy. Plus points are low noise, it doesn’t blast my feet with hot air, cord is long enough to do my house from one socket, oh so easy to empty it seems engineered well compared to my other two vacuums from prestige brands, powerful suction easy to adjust, corded huh I’m on my third cordless and my old fashioned granny carpet sweeper beats cordless.
I’ve lived a long time and I’ve had oodles of vacuum cleaners, all the shapes and all the sizes, one cleaner is never going to be everything to everyone but this excels so far.
It’s easy to lift away for stairs etc plus controls are easy. It tilts easily, I once had an upright which was a fight to get it to tilt but get anywhere near upright and it clicked back. It had fingernail breaking controls and buttons as well. This vacuum excels in only needing a light touch.
Looking back my first upright vacuum cost two weeks wages!!!

Yes I know do the job more regularly but the garden, the stone cutting, the brick wall rebuilding and moving on to relaying of the parking spaces with newly cut old stone, and cutting the foundations for dare I say it MY new workshop etc……… mean it deserves more regular attention than I provide.

I have never been so impressed with a vacuum cleaner, my Dyson fails in comparison, I was complaining how heavy it felt to use then we realised it was the power of the suction, great that you can release the unit for use on the stairs, copes brilliantly with dog hai

I have been really pleased with my purchase but I would add a few words of caution to anyone thinking of purchasing one – this model IS heavy compared to most hoovers I’ve used in recent years and the Swivel Steering takes some getting used to.
I like the convenience of being able to switch between carpet/hard flooring functionality and also vary the suction from the handle. I like being able to detach the ‘body’ of the hoover and walk it and the wand up/down stairs to clean. The ease of detaching where the debris is collected is excellent as is the ability to empty it both at the top and the bottom is a good feature so no issue if debris were to be packed solid and there is also plenty of cable. My only ‘would like’ would be the ability to switch the machine on/off from the handle.

Effective. Small base, so can be a little unstable, however not a big issue. Good value

I’m pleased I chose a Shark over other well named cleaners.
It’s very compact in build and stores neatly .
I like the ease of moving from carpet to wood and the Shark cleaner has great suction power .
As an older user I do find the weight a problem when cleaning the stair carpet.
But, I am very impressed by how much cleaner my carpet looks.
    The emptying system is great.

I have 2cats and a long haired German shepherd dog so have lots of hair.
This is the best hoover I’ve had to date but also the most expensive. I believe you do get what you pay for but i cant fault it. its light enough for me to use with a bad back. i need to open the suction up on my rug or i can’t push it without pain so even with the suction fully open it still picks up hair and other bits my old hover didn’t.
Taking it apart to empty it is really easy and so light, the attachments are all excellent. I cant fault it, I’ve not got any stairs to hoover but i do know using it away from the base is light and easy to hold.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve been using this for around 6 months and came from a Dyson Animal that was ancient & had lost it’s suck.

    First, things that I like:

    Lots of sucking power.
Great on carpet, laminate & tiles (It has two settings but I just use carpet setting as it’s more powerful).
Very customisable: can be used as a standard upright, you can also remove the main body & hold it in one hand while doing the sucking up with the other giving you the ability to get under really low gaps (sofas, beds etc). You can also use smaller attachments to do stairs, tops of doors, wardrobes etc. Also works well inside of your car.
I thought the headlights were a gimmick but they’re very useful for highlighting areas that you might otherwise miss.

    Things I don’t like:

The cool Orange finish on the main pipe was damaged after a few removals of the main body. Certainly not a deal breaker but it now looks older than six months.
The cable doesn’t retract into the body but wraps around 2 points on the bodywork. Again, not a deal breaker but I’ve been used to a Dyson where the cable disappears inside the body – you could look at this as a weight saving plus point though.
It’s light enough for me to use hand held, but if I were older I can see how this may get heavy when holding the main part in one hand & the wand in the other (you can only use the wand ‘one handed).
There’s nowhere to store the attachments on the unit, so you need somewhere to store them in your house, plus you have to stop what your doing to go & find the attachment when you want to swap it.

On the whole though I’m very happy with my purchase. It was priced well, and does the job well.

This is the best vacum cleaner I have had in years. I am so impressed I have recommended it to 4 other people who after trying mine have purchased one for themselves.
My last cleaner wasn’t picking up cat hair properly this one glides over and gets every bit. Also picks my daughters long hair up brilliantly.
It is very easy and light to use and the lift away section makes it easy to clean out of reach areas.
It has settings for hard floor and carpets and you can vary the suction power which is very useful.
Really can’t rate this product highly enough, wouldn’t be without it.

It made my carpet look like new and as it says removed hairs with no trouble and it’s lighter carrying it upstairs

I love the suction, power, headlights, anti wrap technology, lift away option for stairs and capacity of this upright.

I don’t like the fact that you don’t have the option to adjust the head of the hoover to ‘fixed’ position. As someone with bad arthritis when the head tilts the weight of the hoover body transfers to my wrists which is uncomfortable / painful.

Having an option to choose to fix the head in place would be good for people with arthritis.

In all other respects I love this hoover!

It’s a bit awkward and heavy to use. Also disappointed that attachment for stairs was not included

My Shark is amazing. I am so pleased with it. Very easy to assemble and I seemed to have a new carpet overnight. I have a little cat so her hairs are soon disposed of. Thank you Amazon again for delivering it to me.

Amazing quality and value. We got this one so our existing Shackek could replace a useless Dyson upstairs.

This is easy to use although the suction control is set quite strong.

The ability to to separate it to clean under tables or on stairs is great. We added the stair attachment too and it’s made cleaning the stair much easier.

    Can’t recommend this highly enough.

I bloody love this thing. So much better that my previous vacuum (a D***n).

The only thing about it is it’s quite bitty in terms of there’s lots of things that you can remove, take off, put together which is great for flexibility of cleaning but can get in the way (a bit)

This is the first bagless vacuum cleaner we have bought. (Shark NZ801UK). It has exceeded my expectations. It took a little time to work out how to “break it down” into its portable/individual operating modes, but once I had, it was a feeling of relief to have all my expectations met. It is a huge improvement on our old cleaner. I really like the ease with which you can manoeuvre into corners and round furniture with just a “twist” of your wrist. Remove the main unit and you can vacuum under the lowest bed or settee. I can’t compare it to other bagless models as we have never owned one. My wife hasn’t used it yet but she is amazed by the visible contents of the “dust collected housing”, as it rapidly fills up. Yes, I do most of the “hoovering” as my wife does most of the ironing.

Maybe lockdown fever but I love this vacuum cleaner, I’ve only had it a couple of days, but it’s without doubt the best cleaner I’ve ever bought (I’m in my 60’s so I’ve had quite a few). It has got so much fluff and dust off some of my carpets I’m wondering if I had my last vacuum plugged in. I love the ability to detach from the main body to do the stairs. It’s compact so easy to store.

    Best vacuum ever!

    …really well!
Very agile, very powerful suction, competitive with the leading uprights for half the price.
I fully recommend corded vacuum cleaners because there is absolutely no loss of power that you get with batter degradation on all cordless vacuums. Therefore it’ll last you much longer.
