Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersPretty good for the 13 months it lasted . I’ve had a few of these Sharp basic microwaves , they’re good . Guess I was just unlucky with this one . The front opening is a bit narrow for a decent dinner plate . The quick start function is 30 seconds rather than a minute on previous models .

Good product for daily use. Easy to move since it is also pretty light.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis one has it is a metal no grill one, and it is really easy to clean it properly without any resistance/corner that stop you to clean it up. It is going to have almost two years already!!. The power (800W) looks more like 900W or 1.000W.
It is big enough to put a usual big plate inside and tall enough to get a full chicken (but a bit tight to put also a microwave cover on the big ones).
The time control a bit weird at first, but you get the trick very soon.

We are really impressed with this compact microwave. It is very powerful & heats food very evenly. Easy to clean & easy to use. Definitely very happy to recommend.

I like the white interior and the internal light. Seems more powerful than the previous Sharp I had that was 3 years old and went off with a bang last week. But I like this new one. And it also does plate warming which is good. Only had it for 2 days so lot to learn about it yet, that is why I only gave it a four.

I’m a pensioner and I have stopped cooking for myself. I only use it to heat up my frozen meals . I like the simplicity of it but the writing on the timer knob is quite difficult to read and understand. I think a touch pad would suit my tricky eyesight better .
It is easy to keep clean and serves it’s purpose.

I wanted a small microwave as only really use for heating food up in single portions. So for me this is perfect and looks really good. Very easy to use even without looking at the instructions!

Super smart and easy to use, wanted a straightforward microwave (without digital design) and it was hard to find! This microwave is perfect,
    Feels sturdy..looks great!

Cheapest 800w I could find fir my mum. The dial seemed a little complex, but once explained is easy enough to understand.

Need to press the microwave button on every use which is a bit annoying. Otherwise good value for the price.

    Works as expected. Would recommend.
(Bought to replace an inferior Cookworks one which actually caught fire in use.)

The timing knob is not very easyto read as unlike my old micro the time intervals are not consistent with the actual time but get narrower in space as they elapse.

The one issue with this is the load ding. Despite considerable research I’ve not been able to find out to reduce loudness or switch sound off unlike with earlier models

Very well packaged. Good value for money and being white is easy to clean as you can easily see if you have missed anywhere. It was slightly noisy but this was rectified by putting a sweety jar on the top. First rate at cooking/heating and defrosting food.

    Liked the compact size.
Outer shell is covered in plastic which has quickly become snagged on regular use buttons – already looking slightly dowdy!
Instruction leaflet not very comprehensive – have had to guess how some operations work!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersHigh-powered and a good size. Big enough to steam a large bowl of vegetables.

Simple controls — you just turn one dial for the power setting and another for the cooking time. You can set it going, then adjust the power level or cooking time with no need to stop and restart.

What I like best about this microwave oven is its absence of annoying features:
    * No beeping digital touchpad
    * No pointless pictures of chicken legs, pizza slices or potatoes
    * No clock to reset every time there’s a power blip

Best of all, it emits a single ‘ping’ when the cooking time has ended. My previous microwave oven would beep three times, then repeat at regular intervals, until I did something with it.

Whilst this is exactly what I was looking for, if you want to time your cooking to the precise second, this is probably not for you.

Good price but i’m not keen on the buttons. There is no feel to them and they are quite small. The main button (start +30 seconds) is already marked when it is pressed with your fingernail. Overall it is okay for the price but I would not buy this brand again.

It works and is easy to use. I personally don’t like that the metal case can move out of position when carrying this product. Also it makes a terrible slam sound closing the door. When running it’s quite noisy.

We wanted a no fuss microwave with straight forward dials, not fancy keypads etc. This fits the bill nicely. Several sizes to choose from including the one we wanted, works a treat, so simple. We showed it to our elderly parents, who bought one too, then my brother also bought one & all parties are happy. If you want a straight forward, no fuss microwave from a name you can trust, this one has got to be worth a try.

This was a replacement for an earlier model Sharp microwave which cooked quickly and evenly. Unfortunately a heavy window mesh and inadequate light made it impossible to monitor food being cooked so one couldn’t see whether milk was boiling over. It also had a clock which ran slow and couldn’t be read in bright light. This model solves these problems with a much brighter light (now LED) and an accurate and visible in all lighting clock/timer in a nice shade of blue. Cooking performance can’t be faulted.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExcellent product the only thing is the clock illuminates but the rest of the panel doesn’t so hard to see otherwise I would’ve gave it 5 out of five.

It’s straightforward to use although the touch pad controls can be temperamental. Also it doesn’t feel as solid as our previous microwave (a 900 watt DeLonghi) on which the door closed quietly but with a reassuring ‘clunk’, whereas the Sharp door closes with a very loud metallic ‘slam’ sound and the turntable is noisier. (I suspect both these issues are due to the metallic construction). Having said that, it cooks quickly and evenly and has a much larger interior enabling it’s use for larger quantities and bigger cookware.
It still represents excellent value for money and would be ideal for the larger household.

Smaller than my previous one which was 900 watt, I opted for this as many of the microwave food my son likes is down on the box to cook at 800 watt, so this is ideal. Saves having to work out the wattage on an older model. Slowly getting used to using it, slightly more complicated compared to my previous one. But I’m sure I will beat it before long. This model does popcorn which I have’nt tried yet, jacket potatoes done to perfection, hot drinks and even a plate warming setting. Looking forward to seeing what else it can do.

Needed new one looked through Amazon and this caught my eye.
It’s a great microwave that’s simple to use with turning nobs, not confusing digital flight deck technology touch screen panel.
    Easy to clean too.
It’s perfect for what I need it for, the basics like defrosting, heating and re-heating food etc.
It is a micro micro lol as it is smaller than most. This for me is ideal as have limited space in my kitchen. Just be aware of the measurements given before buying.
I do think its a bit pricey for a basic microwave but it is a well known brand so I guess you pay for the brand name in this case.

    Yes!! I would recommend!

There was an uncovered pointy bit (I think it was the end of a screw) underneath mine. I discovered this when it scratched my new kitchen worktop when I put it down, so I was not impressed by the quality. Other than that, the dial seems a bit inexact for short times and once or twice has cut out early on these (which tend to be what I use my microwave for most days – pretty much anything under a minute seems ropey).

That being said, my last microwave at a similar (cheap) price point was a Daewoo and while that one had nifty controls and a digital timer it also pretty quickly started cutting out due to overheating whenever I tried to cook something from frozen or half cook baked potatoes and wouldn’t restart till it cooled down – it didn’t last long before this started either! I would take a bit of imprecision over that any day (hopefully this one will last better – although it has just been a month so far). It has worked pretty well otherwise, and looks nice sitting in the corner of my (scratched :,() kitchen counter.

Does the job, easy to use. I’m just a bit mystified as to why the time display is so bright. It illuminates the kitchen. There is an eco setting that switches it off, but it’s a bit of a palaver because you have to open and then close the door, then press the button within so many seconds. Not sure how much electricity it saves when you use the setting at night, but it could be made a lot simpler with a single button press.

I like how unobtrusive it is and that there are no superfluous controls. Easy to use and clean.
Minor drawbacks- the button to open the door is a bit difficult sometimes. Reading the timing button not so easy.
The drawbacks are largely because I am 75 and have arthritis. Younger folk will not find them a problem

I’m really pleased with this microwave so far so all fingers crossed that I feel the same way in six months time. At present I’m delighted at how precise it is and how easy it is to moderate the power. I purchased my previous microwave a couple of years ago and at that time the range for small size on offer was extremely limited and what I purchased proved to be a poor choice. Much more on offer now and I am much happier with this oven.

An identical updated replacement for my decade old purchase that finally went BANG last Saturday. Only difference being a new black panel and silver dials, as opposed to white. Arthritic hands means keeping things familiarly easy to use, and this one is. Moderately different settings that forget to say the watts. So l wrote them down and stuck them on the wall. They’re listed in the manual. Oh yes, it does 800, 620, and 440. I’ve used it once yesterday on arrival, does what it says on the box, that’s good enough for me.

Works perfectly well and easy to use, push button controls and easy to clean. The controls appear to time out and cannot be used until the door is opened, this happened after overnight. Must be a safety feature but did make us think it was broken as we needed to adjust the clock and couldn’t, no buttons worked until eventually we opened and closed the door.success.must see if it mentions this in the manual,,,,,but hey blokes never read the manual until something is wrong do they, well I don’t!

Suggest that after every use the inside of the microwave is dried with kitchen towel as condensation is the worst enemy and it will cause trouble with flaking paint in the future, if you don’t do this step. Takes a couple of minutes but worth it!

I wanted a simple microwave as I only use it for defrosting rice or heating up soup occasionally.
The only issue is if you want it for a short time like 30 sec you’ll have to set the timer over 1,2 min and you open the door to stop.
It’s quite small inside so I can’t fit a dinner plate but I knew before buying it and I don’t need to do it so that’s not issue (just for your reference).
    I’m happy with the purchase.

The microwave is easy to use and has a nice design. It has enough internal space for what I use it for which is basically cooking vegetables, heating tinned beans, peas, soup etc., and the occassional micro meal.

The negatives are that the unside gets very wet so you have to wipe and dry it straight away as the instructions advise not to leave the door open.

The front of the microwave (the door and displays) seem to be made of plastic so feel a bit cheap, however it doesn’t spoil the look or functionality.

I wanted a microwave oven with two intuitive control knobs and adequate power. Simply, What power? and How Long? I did not want a grill and I did not want a complex membrane pad where I would need to put my glasses on and have to press it multiple times. Given these main requirements this oven is perfect. Given this basic specification I consider it to be excellent value for money.
When it comes to minor niggles, although 21L appears to be a popular size for microwaves it feels a little on the small side. Also the inside is painted dark grey which makes it pretty gloomy other than when it is active when the light comes on. Door opening spring is very effective but a little on the “robust” side. All in all though, it’s fine.

Great value microwave which I got through Amazon warehouse. As such it was considerably cheaper than the main site.

I can’t see any issues with it. It works well and is perfect fit me as a single person. Large plates are a bit of a squeeze to fit into it though as the microwave is not big, but it slotted nicely into the limited space I have in my counter.

The power button and function buttons are basic and straightforward to use.

The power level at 900 heats the food quickly.

It’s perfect for me and I think it was a good buy

This microwave was purchased to replace one that had to be discarded due to the level of rusting. I was keen to find one that had no enamel and this one is all stainless steel.
So far it appears to be very good. It is quite powerful at 900 w and the settings are very simple to use, also easy to clean.
My only criticism is that it would have been useful to have a cookery book and better instructions on use.

This does its job as a basic microwave well, ideal if you don’t want the many options offered by others that you’d never use, and easy to use twist knobs. One problem – the timer setting twist knob is low down, so the markers are hard to line up. Being close together it’s difficult to set an exact time. At normal kitchen side level you have to bend sideways to see them..Also the timing starts as soon as you start twisting the knob rather than letting you set the time then press ‘go’, so actual accuracy is almost impossible.
Does it matter? Well, many ready meals specify an exact time e.g. 2.5 minutes, but the best you can do is 3. With higher settings, this does not matter, but with only a couple of minutes it could be important.
So, generally fine but avoid if you are short sighted or arthritic!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGot this last year when my old microwave decided to suddenly not heat.
It’s very easy to use, and the tea option is handy for warming up a cup that’s gone cold.
It loses a star though, due to the sides getting warm and the settings panel bubbling. The weird thing is that the panel practically did this overnight. If it was a few years old, fair enough, but it suddenly did this after about 10 months. That wouldn’t stop me recommending this though, as the pros outweigh the cons.

I got this microwave as a replacement for an old one that was wearing out and I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on something that doesn’t get used very often. And this Sharp microwave fits the bill very well it’s basic it doesn’t have a display just a nob but if you want to defrost anything it does the job very well,it’s also well made and unlike some of the none brand stuff out there you can tell it’s a quality bit of kit.So if you are looking for a small cheap microwave (it would be perfect for students) you can’t go far wrong with this.

Arrived as promised, in good condition and is a basic microwave as expected. Down sides are s no display so you cant select accuracy how long it will be on for i.e. lots of items require 50 seconds or 1 minute 20 seconds, you cant tell as no display.
It is on the small side, OK to heat up a cereal bowl sized dish or a smaller dinner plate but would not be big enough for larger dishes or plates.

This Microwave was purchased as a general cooking device; it replaced a Panasonic digital microwave. I chose a manual microwave this time due to its ease of operation; no more dabbing through endless options. The power level is set to High mostly, and it remains set; with digital you have set the power level every time. Most often it is simply one twist of the timer knob to the proper cooking time and thats it! It could not be simpler.
I also like it that the interior light only comes on while the food is cooking, otherwise it is off. This is good because you can leave the oven door open to let steam and condensation disperse without burning the interior bulb pointlessly. The previous microwave came to grief through rusting due to condensation.
DEFROST: the scale is graduated by weight, which is not always helpful when you are defrosting foods you have frozen yourself; you may not know what the weight actually is. Proceed by short times and see how the food is defrosting bit by bit; there are kitchen scales of course!

I initially ordered a 20 L microwave and realised I did not read the reviews. Within 10 minutes I cancelled the order and reordered a 25 L (as the 23 L) was not in the correct colour. Oh boy. Poor Amazon deliverer who had to come down 10 concrete steps to the house. It was sooo big and heavy. Bless, he was brilliant.

It’s biggest microwave I have ever had. I have tested it to make sure it works. Thank goodness it does, I would not want to have to return it. However, I love it and got in during the sale at 22 less so I cannot complain.

There isn’t much to say about the microwave apart from it represents good value and is basic and very easy to use.

It’s nice to have a device with all of the bells and whistles and a plethora of functions but I’ve had 4 devices in the last 6 years with prices ranging between 60.00 and 200.00 and they all stopped working or developed control pad/button faults.

I purchased this microwave oven to replace one that we have had for several years that was showing signs of wear. If all you want is a basic microwave then the Sharp YC-MS01U-W 20 L 800W version is perfect for the job. It is very easy to use, easy to keep clean and produces excellent results. Good quality item and great value for the money paid.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe protective film on the buttons hasn’t started to come off like for some of the reviewers, so I suspect that it only happens when the microwave is used quite intensively.

The microwave itself looks very stylish, maybe I would have picked a different colour of the enamel. I like that the timer can be set by 10s increments and the microwave can be stopped at any time. Most microwaves in this price range have 30s increments timer.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI know the Sharp arm in europe is not the real Japanese Sharp stuff (all about profits) – but this ‘Vestel’ microwave with a Sharp badge is nice. ITs retro looking like my parents Sharp 30 years ago, theres nothing I dont like about it – its not over fussy, it does what it should and its big so you can fit everything in it.

If it holds out, ill buy Vestel again in future, just a shame its not real japanese kit, but if you know that, proceed with Polands finest.

P.S> To those saying the buttons wear away -you didn’t remove the protective film! Once removed there is nothing to wear away as its not rubber 😀

I purchased this microwave because my old one packed up.
The one thing about this that I’m not so keen on is the buttons on the main display are not particularly tactile, quite often I think I’ve pressed the button but have “JUST” missed it, there’s nothing to actually let you know that you are pressing the right area (such as a raised dimple or brail type “text” or something like that), otherwise it’s great, easy to clean with it’s removable turntable, though the ring underneath is quite “cheap” feeling & from time to time bumps as the “wheel” sticks for some reason, even though it’s completely clean, so no idea what’s causing it, but at least it’s only “sometimes” and not “all the time”.
I would definitely recommend this microwave, especially for the price, very pleased.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe’ve been using this for 5 months, and it’s fine – a good simple microwave with easy controls. What’s not to like?
Well, one star off because the capacity is given as 20 litres but is actually only 17 litres (by physical measurement) – not a huge difference, I grant you – but if you choose this one over another one (of say 18 litres) because it had a greater capacity, then that’s dishonest advertising, isn’t it?

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis item was bought as a gift for my daughter, as a replacement for a another microwave oven that had seen better days. There is nothing too fancy about the microwave in either looks or functions but, from reports, it is acceptable on all accounts and, therefore, good value for money.
To add to the four star ratings for the above categories would be a 4 stars rating for the microwave’s appearance – it sits appropriately, comfortably but relatively unobtrusively in the corner of the kitchen bench. It is seemingly a most acceptable and satisfying gift and it obviously does the job. No complaints – no worries!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI have had this microwave for a month now, as a replacement for a short-lived Panasonic one. This Sharp microwave had all the features, size, colour and functions at the power range that I required to replace my previous microwave. More importantly, the price point was great for what you get. So far, it’s been functioning well, and does the job it was intended for as a microwave.

Two small annoying items to note in regards to this microwave:

    1) The LED display seems to have been fitted a bit lower than it should have been at the factory. This means that when you look at the clock or the timing in the LED display, the bottom of the numbers are cut off (truncated) in the field of view. It’s functional, but an annoyance and potentially a product defect. How this missed QC/QA at Sharp is surprising… especially for a Japanese company (but then the microwave was built in China)?!

    2) The ECO mode function of the microwave makes a sound, similar to the cooking completion sound, about a minute after the completion of a cooking/heating function. So basically, you get two sounds… one at the completion of cooking or heating something – followed by another one a minute or so later to let you know that it is in ECO mode. Also, you have to take the microwave out of ECO mode in order to use any of the digital buttons to start cooking or heating. I have not found a button to do this, nor is it mentioned in the manual, but I found opening and closing the door takes it out of ECO mode to start using the microwave. Again, it’s functional, but a slight annoyance.

In summary, the microwave is good value for money for the features, size, power, build and brand… and it’s not white or black in colour (although it’s stated as silver colour, it looks more metal in colour – great in my kitchen).
