I needed to replace my old microwave and went for this one, the price was extremely good, having tried out various options I have found it produces perfectly cooked food. Having the option to use various preprogrammed makes it very versatile and perform perfectly. It produces perfectly hot food on various powers. The stainless steel finish means it fits into the kitchen decor easily.
Nice looking little microwave, easy to use ,needs to be up against the wall as when you push door open button the microwave slides on worktop.
Quite and fits normal dinner plate inside.

SHARP YC-MS01U-B Compact 20 Litre 800W Manual control Microwave, 5 power levels, defrost function, LED cavity light – Black
Pros -1) Easy to use – just set the power and timer knobs. Theses are manual controls, not electronic so hopefully will prove reliable in the long term. If you like “uncomplicated” then this is for you.
2) Compact size so ideal in a smaller environment.
3) Appears well made and looks good.
4) Value for money.
Cons – 1) Internal light only comes on when cooking. All other times it is off.
2) Supplied with a Quick Start Guide leaflet which is very basic. You have to download a more comprehensive leaflet on-line.
3) No warranty details apart from ” Take unit to a dealer with proof of purchase”.
Wanted a similar microwave to the one I was replacing and found this as the same make only slightly smaller. It holds a large dinner plate so perfect for us. Controls are very easy to use and clear. We wanted one with seconds as some things we warm up only need 20 seconds and some microwaves only do minutes and that’s to long. We have now used it for four weeks and have no complaints as working well.
The delivery was fine; it is a good product, however it is let down by the inside plate which barely slots into place and does come off regularly, unless I was given the wrong one for the product, hence less than 5 stars.
This replaced a more expensive Panasonic which eventually failed after 20 years. It is unfair to compare the two but I cannot help it. The Panasonic was larger and pretty well all stainless steel whereas the Sharp is not . The inside is painted in a dark blue – a lighter colour would have been better.
It looks smart and certainly does the job so I would recommend i
Bought for my mother who is in her 70s, she loves it, finds it simple to use and easy to clean.
No added features you never use, just straightforward, stylish and easy to use!
I am still getting used to it at the moment because it seems to be more powerful than my old one, it seems to be a good easy to use microwave, I use it for cooking vegetables, reheating and starting food off prior to the oven or air fryer. It does what I want and at reasonable price, no complaints off me.
Good size and ideal for small family. More powerful than I thought and heats up food far more quickly than my old microwave. Taken 1 point from review as the start button can sometimes be a bit fussy to operate if you don’t press it dead centre.
Smaller in size and slightly lighter in weight. Quiet and not so load ping. Light only comes on when in use so you can leave the door open to dry out the inside. Its very dark so cant see any splashes on the inside. Always cover food to avoid moisture build up.
I think it had been dropped as it doesn’t stand flat. It’s working and I have already waited 5 weeks for it. Nothing fancy basic microwave.
Quite small, definitely no good for large family unless only heating drinks, soup etc. No large dinner plate fits. Okay just me. Instructions on microwave small writing, but all in all suits me fine. Price and delivery was good
The black one lasted me around about 3 years due too leaving the door open after cooking and the back window opened a tad. I add too put it out for scrap yesterday minus the plug. As it was extremely dangerous too use and was turning into a rust bucket inside. A few weeks before I noticed brown specks. I guessed it was Rust on the newspaper it was standing on, on the kitchen table. I was still cooking food it upto a week before. It looked ok inside. I didn’t notice any signs of rust appearing. Tuesday it didn’t. Cook my microwave oven readymade macaroni cheese dish. It seemed too be cold. Hot underneath the plastic dish. And I don’t know about the small fly that fled in beforehand. Source me leave the door open a tad after cooking too let the steam dissipate. It saves you keep buying a new microwave oven every 12 months, or less. Found this method out by accident. Nothings ever mentioned in the microwave instructions books about this old method of mine. I Even posted it on Facebook.
I love that the inside is a beautiful grey and not white. It has lots of useful functions but doesn’t fit dinner plates bigger than 10 inches or 25 cm. 5 more centimetres inside would have made all the difference.
It does make a lot of condensation, so needs wiping out after each use to prevent rust, but other than that a great addition to the kitchen and we’re fairly happy with it.
Missing one star as it doesn’t fit a standard dinner plate and has the option to heat a dinner plate.
Not a bad size but to be honest I’m a microwave reheater not cooker
This isca very straight forward microwave with turn dials so no complicated
Programing and the 900w means your not hanging around and it handles
The task early
No fuss or frills. It could benefit from a 30 second function but otherwise a good value microwave
delivered on time and have found the product meets my requirements
Sturdy, doesn’t slip around on the worktop and is compact but can fit in normal plates etc. Controls are simple, xo overall a good buy.
Very easy to use and a big improvement on my 30+ year old Sanyo that finally gave up the ghost. Only criticism is that the light doesn’t go out at the end of cooking and the door left open. I always preferred to leave the door open so condensation dried away but with the light on I’m forced to close the door otherwise the 25watt bulb is a drain on my electric bill.
It does everything it should, properly. Looks good, works well and it’s a Sharp. Oh, and great value! Rob 🙂
I purchased this for my dad as he is not technical in any way. This is so easy to use just 2 knows to turn to get the temp & time needed.
He loves it.
Well made, easy to clean. Difficult to time accurately, (not a digital clock) so best to use for basic cooking and reheating.
Fab microwave and looks very sleek. Take time to read the instructions as it’s weird how different microwaves are when you just want a simple 2min rehea
Innocuous build and design, so it’s unobtrusive, and same size as the one it replaces. However, unlike its predecessor it’s rather over-engineered, and the display is very poor – it really should be back-lit. However, for the present it’s good value for money.
Reviewing after 2 months use. This is quite a basic model but doing its job fine. One annoying aspect is that the rotating plate is loose and often comes off and need to be put back to the correct position. Overall recommended if you want something cheap with low to medium usage needs.
Pretty good for the 13 months it lasted . I’ve had a few of these Sharp basic microwaves , they’re good . Guess I was just unlucky with this one . The front opening is a bit narrow for a decent dinner plate . The quick start function is 30 seconds rather than a minute on previous models .
