This tool is a game changer for electric cabling. Fast and accurate.
Be aware that the maximum thickness of cable it can handle is less than triple 2.5mm cable. This is about 10mm and that will not fit.
I was looking for a pair that weren’t Stan’s. But I folded in the end and did what everyone always does and bought them because of the name. They don’t disappoint.
This made repairing my motorcycle’s wiring harness (with 27 damaged wires) an absolute breeze. It reliably and effectively stripped, cut and crimped the wires and connectors when needed, whilst having a wide range of fine tuning and functionality. Highly recommended, this saved my bike from an expensive trip to the mechanics!
I came across these when watching a diy video and had some electrical wiring work I wanted to do around the house, so thought I would give them a go.
They are game changers when coming to wire stripping. They make things so easy so I would happily recommend them to anyone.
Need to adjust settings for correct lengths and sometimes screw coming loose. Stripped wires get stuck in tool at times. Would expect this from a cheaper tool but I would suggest that this tool is not in the budget category! Frustrating tool when on second fix of a wiring job!
There are a number of similar items like this but I like the Stanley Fatmax brand so didn’t mind paying a bit more. These worked straight out of the box and I can’t think why I waited so long before purchasing after years of struggling with pliers etc. Recommended.
There are a number of these types of wire strippers on the market. I went with Stanley because, you know, it’s Stanley. I have wasn’t disappointed. Excellent build quality, does the job very well, easy to use. I’d I have one gripe it’s that the wire cutters in the handle are not the best. I’m good with that as I have decent wire cutters anyway. But as wire strippers, these are excellent.
Good grief these are really easy to use I should have bought them years ago,so much better than pliers or a Stanley knife I wasn’t disappointed and I would recommend them for anyone who wires houses sheds cars motorcycles etc
Makes preparing electrical cables for connection very easy. A few seconds and you have the cable ready, with plastic stripped and no damage to copper cores. Don’t know why I struggled for years with knives and side cutters.
Doesn’t handle smaller cables well. In a typical twin & earth – even with the wheel turned to max – it rips the insulation off (slowly) rather than cleanly remove it.
I should of bought this years ago instead of hacking away at wire with a Stanley knife
Great Produc
I’m a snips stripper out of pure laziness. Bought these so my daughter could mess about with a small electronics set she got. Naturally she’s gotten bored of the set so I have these in my tool case now, I should have bought them years ago, they are slick for doing stranded cables where my snips occasionally pull off a few of the strands when I’m not concentrating lol
I should have purchased one of these years ago. It speeds up the process of wire stripping so much. It’s very easy to use.
Saves loads of time preparing cables. Slightly fiddly for thinner wires but that’s to be expected for smaller gauges. It’s has tension adjustment which is good. Definitely would recommend
Does exactly what it says on the box. Having been tasked with some DIY around the house for the weekend, I thought I would make my life a bit easier with the cabling as from past experiencing splicing cables can be a bit of a time sync.
This works flawlessly. Initially I struggled to get it to strip cables however after reading the instruction and folding the yellow plastic thing 180 degrees I was in business! This thing does not care about the thickness of cable you present to it, just position and off it goes! Absolutely effortless! 100% recommend!
This tool is quick and easy to use as a diy use
This was just a purchase for a diy dad after I went through the lawn mower cable. Wire stripped and rewired with no probs. Great bit of ki
Don’t waste your time or money buying anything else – this is so easy to use and we’ll just works brilliantly.
This wire stripper is even better than I dared to hope.
Had to return the first set as it was grinding and quite stiff. The second one is better but feels clunky still so mayhe its just the design of this? It strips cables very quickly and accurately. Definitely makes life easier if you have to strip wires a lot.
Worth the money, very easy to use and very fas
Like all Stanley fatmax tools, decent quality, strong, well built. Do the job easily.

A good bit of kit. very prisis. Very easy to use
Brought these to replace some snap on’s that finally gave up, used a LOT and seem sturdy, don’t use the crimp parts as I use proper crimp tools, stripper has a plastic end stop that’s useful to me, could imagine it being annoying to some but it is removable, only had one very slight issue with it not stripping some silicone covered cables, think this was more a bad quality cable than tool tho! Feel sturdy and like there gonna last, minor gripe is the exposed metal in the bottom of the handles, this should be covered over, all sparks make mistakes and not everything is dead when switched off, borrowed negatives etc or working live could be a real issue(yes I know working live is a no no but its not just me that does it).
These make stripping wires a doddle – gone are the days of using pliers or Stanley knives and getting the size wrong. Only held a star back as they are limited in the thickness of cable they can be used o
There isn’t much to say, except that this cuts and strips cables easily and efficiently.
It feels like a quality product, is a nice bright colour so you don’t lose it. Most importantly, it works.
Removes outer cable easily which was the reason for getting it. Not great at cutting.
for the cost they are worth investing.and Im in the republic of Ireland
Wish I had got this years ago saved so much time. Works perfectly
These are brilliant, will easily strip the cover off T&E cable and then strip the individual wires without having to adjust anything.
There is a plastic clip which you can engage if youre stripping very thin wires but in my experience, you wont need this very often.
Wish i had bought them years ago.
Bought these after borrowing my mate’s to do a small rewiring job. Very impressed so far, but still early days.
A well built robust tool, that functions extremely well – automatically adjusting to cleanly strip any size of cable – recommended .
It’s a perfect product. If it only worked for a week it would still be worth the cost, but I’ve been stripping cables like made for weeks now. Its simple, easy and almost impossible to misuse. Buy it now and thank me later, or don’t thank me, but do buy it.
Great piece of kit, works every time and very accurate
I’ve been using these to strip the outer cover off 3 core wire, and then strip the 3 cores for use with ceiling uplighters. They are easy to use and have saved loads of time.
If you are thinking about buying this but you’re unsure because you still do it the old fashioned way forget about that and buy it quickly! You can thank me later!
Not only was this a useful tool for wire stripping and cutting, it was pretty fascinating to watch all the moving parts and try to understand how it works. Kept me entertained for a while. Perhaps I need to get out more 🙂
I found this Stanley automatic wire stripper a brilliant piece of kit. Made stripping my speaker cables so much more easy and less time consuming and fidgety. Would definitely recommend to anyone thinking on getting some.
Poor function unless you move the mearsurement bar; otherwise it is actually really good
When you first use these you question why you haven’t bought these before. No messing around with plyers or knives, 2 clicks and done, your wire is ready. Absolute must for the tool case, should last a lifetime.

Excellent – reliable and easy to use so good it keeps getting “borrowed”
Perfect tool to have around the house for the odd wiring job
Easy to use wasted my money on the others. Buy the best once and for all.
What a great little wire stripper, so easy to use . Does single and multiple cables. Well happy with it…..
The tool works great for the job, bought for. There’s nothin to dislike. Great tool.
Why did I not buy one of these years ago? Absolutely life-changing.
I used these to strip the outer casing and the plastic insulation on individual wires. Much easier, more accurate and safer than using a Stanley knife!!
