I had quite a bit of wiring to do for a home project so invested in one of these. I’m so glad I did as it cut the stripping time down considerably. Thoroughly recommended.
Life saver!
As someone who regularly works on guitars these were an essential. They’ve been a life and teeth saver! No more trying to strip the wire with pliers or even my teeth!

Very well made(Stanley products usually are) these seem like they will last a lifetime, feel really robust and sturdy.

All the video’s and demonstrations I could find online for this tool showed it being used professionally with a variety of mains cables.
Whilst I do re-wire the odd plug, my wire stripping needs are usually around stripping 22AWG wires and despite these being rather chunky, they strip the 22AWG wires perfectly and predictably.
When I’m building kits up, I tend to have to make up a lot of connecting cables and although I’m well practiced at stripping wires, sometimes you can still make a mistake. With this tool, there are no more mistakes. Every wire is stripped perfectly every time. This saves so much time for me it’ll pay for itself in time saved within a month.

So, I initially bought the Yato YT-2313, but had to return it because it was pretty much useless (couldn’t strip a standard 3-core wire). So, I decided to go Stanley Fatmax done the same wire and was day and night in comparison! This tool is way more superior than the Yato wire stripper! The Stanley Fatmax was consistent in how it strips, had a strong grip and the material used was a lot better! So, as the titled says – think twice before buying cheap.

The cutter element can’t handle think wires though.

I’ve used quite a few wire strippers in my time and often by the time you’ve found them and set them up it’s easier to use side cutters unless you’ve got loads to do … not these! they just work brilliantly! I love them.

This tool makes the job much easier without slicing your fingers or trimming the cable in the wrong spot. Strips heavy cooker cable down to quite thin cables. I already had a pair of stripping pliers where there is a finger screw to control the depth of cutting, but after rewiring a pair of speakers where I managed to keep on shortening the cable, unable to easily to determine the depth of cut I decided to get an automatic wire stripper. So far it is tremendous. Virtually any size of cable which will fit in its jaws will be neatly stripped of its outer layer and with multi core cable then with another pass the group of individual cores can then be neatly stepped of their insulation. It is a joy to use.Absolutley easy to use – needs no instructions. I am unable to compare it to any other automatic stripper but this one for me is the bees knees!

Not a bad price. Comfy to hold. Have used on fine cable and 2.5 mm electric. Strips then all with ease. The addition of a gauge tg ed measure how much you want to strip off is a nice addition too.

Great for CAT5E
Brought these to help me install my CCTV system needed something which would strip CAT5E cable both of outer and inner cables, this worked perfectly and increased the speed at which I could sort the cables out. Great little bit of kit.

It strips wire!
It was just what I was looking for, wish I had seen it earlier when I was wiring up my garden solar lights to one solar panel. This would have saved me lots of time and frustration. But, make sure it can handle the cable sizes you want to strip.

Good piece of kit.
Once you get the hang of it combined with the jaw grip adjuster this works really well cutting the time to strip cable dramatically. The wire cutters are not great but suffice. Really does make using 3 or 4 different tools redundant.

Works as intended but it can be a little fiddly to get it to work properly every time. I suppose with more practice this will get easier / be more reliable.
Easy and accurate to use.
I have tried several different wire strippers, most work but are awkward. This one is a doddle to use, easy to set the length of the stripped section, the wire cutter included is very useful, no need for separate cutters.

I have a solar panel and wind turbine and it deals with wires of various gauges. Also takes the outer sheath of mains cables and then deals with the individual wires. As I seem to be working in the cold and wet most of the time, a multi-wire solution is just great. Wish I had bought one ages ago.

Evert thing was great but The blades are little bit worn so its not that sharp which gets annoying some times when you have to strip cables smaller than 1mm be really careful.

Got to replace my old and now broken pair i used hard for the last 15 years. Couldnt get the same brand but have plenty of Stanley tools that are well aged so expected good things and wasnt disapointed. Very sturdy and were put to work on some heavy car audio power cable, worked a dream.

I’ve used automatic wire strippers for many years, those ones that kinda look like a dinosaur head. Unfortunately my old ones got damaged, so when I needed to fit an in line switch on table lamp I looked for a replacement.
I had intended to get same as old ones, however many of these appeared to be cheap and cheerful, not very robust. This had good reviews, and although I have not seen this design before, I thought I’d take a chance. I’m very glad I did! These are sturdy, appear well made and designed, and very easy to use (even better than my old ones), despite being disabled (don’t require much strength or good grip).
I definitely recommend these, and would give them 6 stars!

Wish I'd bought this years ago
I’ve recently taken up amateur radio and this Stanley device is perfect for antenna coax and all other types of wiring. I use it for all my wiring repairs and projects around my home. Gone are the years of trying to use an inferior stripper or a knife and the work looks so professional.

A must have tool
I do little electrical projects every now and again, I did use normal wire cutters etc but then a friend at work had a pair similar to these, my electrical projects that previously took me a few hours with a lot of swearing now is an enjoyable hobby and I have reduced the time it takes me just by using these

Just get it and you’ll use it. I’m a heating engineer so I don’t use it as much as a sparky but it’s fantastic quality. Worth the cost. Good Stanley product.

Needed to repair my hedge cutter as I had cut the cable. Watched youtube and practised first on an old cable, and it took me literally a minute to strip the cable. So easy to use. Amazing.

plastic guide broken after 1 use but great wire clippers
his is a brilliant set of wire strippers but the plastic guide near the teeth of the strippers broke after one use, I would expect more from Stanley. but as I am still using them now which is a long time after buying them I cant make it down lower than 4 stars as it still works without the plastic thing

Easily strips insulation from a single wire or the outer covering from multicore cable. Very easy to adjust. Does in seconds what it used to take ages to do with a blade. No more cut conductors and having to start agai

This has handled everything from 1.5mm flex, up to strands of 6mm with absolute ease.
Even used it crimp an earth terminal for some SWA (armoured cable) into a Wiska box.

Works a treat. Easy to use and even works on the tiniest of wires. Would definitely recommend this wire stripper. You will save some much time and wiring as it strips away the wire coating with ease.

I bought this as I have a few sockets, light switches and light fittings to replace and it’s made life so much easier. It strips the wire perfectly everytime.
It doesn’t appear to be made to accept larger diameter cable but I managed to shorten the lead on an extention lead without any issues.

I'll never use another stripper again (of the wire type)

After years of using a cheap pair of manual pull hard style wire strippers I brought these and I don’t know why I didn’t get these sooner.
These save me so much time and are just easy to use. It’s a shame I don’t need to use them very often as these are worth the money.
As a fervent amateur DIY fanatic, anything to make my life easier will amaze me – this tool made my life easier when fitting surround sound speakers….
The tool is thought through but isn’t immediately obvious in usage for stripping the plastic coating from wires – essentially the top is closed and you place the wire between the yellow pincher and the top of the tool, then squeeze and it hold the wire and strips off the end of plastic – it does this VERY neatly and swiftly and works extremely reliably time and time again!!!! I was away for ages stripping bits of wire lol!!!
It is clearly designed for use by amateur and professional people and can imagine this saved many many hours of time over the years for an electrician as it works so much better than a traditional pair of pliers at stripping wires….
I would 100% recommend for any electrical work as it is such a time saver and stress saver as it only strips the plastic – with speaker wires etc you can find thin strands of wire get missed or ripped in error but this never did that in a full 10-speaker install!!!
It has different size holes for different wire gauges to be stripped but we used these for clamping ends on to the wires to connect wires together as they perfectly clamped them!!! It also does have a traditional plier-type stripping edge but its too easy doing it the intended way with this tool!

As a fervent amateur DIY fanatic, anything to make my life easier will amaze me – this tool made my life easier when fitting surround sound speakers….
The tool is thought through but isn’t immediately obvious in usage for stripping the plastic coating from wires – essentially the top is closed and you place the wire between the yellow pincher and the top of the tool, then squeeze and it hold the wire and strips off the end of plastic – it does this VERY neatly and swiftly and works extremely reliably time and time again!!!! I was away for ages stripping bits of wire lol!!!

Haven’t tested these fully but felt confident to state they work well once you’ve learned how to adjust them (minimal/non existent instructions with the package)
I have a fair bit of cabling to do (mixed type/size) and will report back post completion of that work!

Good but not perfec
Ok for home use but would never stand up to all day every day use, Not great if trying to use on wire that only has a couple of inches to work with but if you have the wire with a good length then it is fine, still a little fiddly but gets the job done, could I live without it? Yes and just use the old method of side cutters or pliers.

Great tool
This tool makes all the difference to wire stripping. No more wrecked and painful fingers. I actually own a competitors version of this, but bought this one for my dad. He’s really pleased with it and wishes he’d had one a long time ago. This was cheaper than the competitors version when I bought it, but with rubber grip is also more comfortable than my solid metal version. Takes a bit of trial and error to get the hang of the where to cut for the required length, worth a quick review of videos on youtube.
