I do little electrical projects every now and again, I did use normal wire cutters etc but then a friend at work had a pair similar to these, my electrical projects that previously took me a few hours with a lot of swearing now is an enjoyable hobby and I have reduced the time it takes me just by using these

Just get it and you’ll use it. I’m a heating engineer so I don’t use it as much as a sparky but it’s fantastic quality. Worth the cost. Good Stanley product.

Needed to repair my hedge cutter as I had cut the cable. Watched youtube and practised first on an old cable, and it took me literally a minute to strip the cable. So easy to use. Amazing.

Used when rewiring a house. Excellent bit of kit. Made stripping cables effortless. Definitely one of the best purchases for the job. Very impressed
No problem for 1.5/2.5/6 t&e but struggled with the 6mm sheathing.

his is a brilliant set of wire strippers but the plastic guide near the teeth of the strippers broke after one use, I would expect more from Stanley. but as I am still using them now which is a long time after buying them I cant make it down lower than 4 stars as it still works without the plastic thing

Easily strips insulation from a single wire or the outer covering from multicore cable. Very easy to adjust. Does in seconds what it used to take ages to do with a blade. No more cut conductors and having to start agai

Who knew wire stripping could be so therapeutic?

This has handled everything from 1.5mm flex, up to strands of 6mm with absolute ease.

Even used it crimp an earth terminal for some SWA (armoured cable) into a Wiska box.

I bought this as I have a few sockets, light switches and light fittings to replace and it’s made life so much easier. It strips the wire perfectly everytime.

It doesn’t appear to be made to accept larger diameter cable but I managed to shorten the lead on an extention lead without any issues.

I buy this product for my job and I am very happy with it. If you are looking for a multi-purpose cable stripper this is ideal for it.
It is a great and well done product.
The quality is seen at a glance and just by touching it you realise that it will last a long time.
It looks like in the product photos and it complies with all the functions described in the advertisement.

I’ll review this product in 3 simple sentences:
    * Whoever invented these deserves are frickin’ Knighthood and a reach around from the Queen.
    * My life before these was a lie.
    * If you have a lot of wiring to do but you’re short on cash and therefore it’s a choice between feeding your family or buying these… remember humans can survive without food for over a week

    – One of the best tools I’ve ever bought.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersAs a fervent amateur DIY fanatic, anything to make my life easier will amaze me – this tool made my life easier when fitting surround sound speakers….

The tool is thought through but isn’t immediately obvious in usage for stripping the plastic coating from wires – essentially the top is closed and you place the wire between the yellow pincher and the top of the tool, then squeeze and it hold the wire and strips off the end of plastic – it does this VERY neatly and swiftly and works extremely reliably time and time again!!!! I was away for ages stripping bits of wire lol!!!

It is clearly designed for use by amateur and professional people and can imagine this saved many many hours of time over the years for an electrician as it works so much better than a traditional pair of pliers at stripping wires….

I would 100% recommend for any electrical work as it is such a time saver and stress saver as it only strips the plastic – with speaker wires etc you can find thin strands of wire get missed or ripped in error but this never did that in a full 10-speaker install!!!

It has different size holes for different wire gauges to be stripped but we used these for clamping ends on to the wires to connect wires together as they perfectly clamped them!!! It also does have a traditional plier-type stripping edge but its too easy doing it the intended way with this tool!

Haven’t tested these fully but felt confident to state they work well once you’ve learned how to adjust them (minimal/non existent instructions with the package)

I have a fair bit of cabling to do (mixed type/size) and will report back post completion of that work!

Ok for home use but would never stand up to all day every day use, Not great if trying to use on wire that only has a couple of inches to work with but if you have the wire with a good length then it is fine, still a little fiddly but gets the job done, could I live without it? Yes and just use the old method of side cutters or pliers.

This tool makes all the difference to wire stripping. No more wrecked and painful fingers. I actually own a competitors version of this, but bought this one for my dad. He’s really pleased with it and wishes he’d had one a long time ago. This was cheaper than the competitors version when I bought it, but with rubber grip is also more comfortable than my solid metal version. Takes a bit of trial and error to get the hang of the where to cut for the required length, worth a quick review of videos on youtube.

A remarkably useful wire stripper which does more than I had realised – removing the cover and then stripping the conductors – all without having to select sizes or settings. This tool is a great boon to those like me that previously struggled with pliers and kitchen knives! Also, it cuts and crimps.

    Regards, lim

Very easy to use. You simply slot the wire between the jaws and squeeze the handles. You don’t even have to adjust it for the wire size as it does all that. There is a little screw that allows you to adjust the grip that the tool applies to the cable but I find that leaving it in the middle of the adjustment range is just fine.

There is a stop that you can use to set the amount of insulation that is removed (the little yellow thing in the pictures) but you can rotate it out of the way and judge it by eye if you want.

There is a also basic crimping feature that will crimp both insulated and non-insulated terminals. The single slot marked with 3 coloured dots does the 3 most commonly used colour coded insulated terminals and the remaining slots are for non-insulated terminals.

  26. Anonymous says:

Really impressed with these. They work by holding the wire and then tearing off the end to be stripped by gripping with the teeth, therefore do not need adjustment. This also stops you damaging layers of insulation underneath the layer being stripped since it doesn’t cut through. I’ve stripped electrical wire for lighting (first the outer insulation, then the inner in two steps) and speaker wire. I’ve not done Ethernet or phone wire so not sure how well it deals with very fine wire but very satisfied with them.

Golden Review Award: 474 From Our UsersWow what a fantastic product and I wish I’d bought them years ago. I’ve always made do with the old type of wire cutters. These arrived just a short while ago and I was keen to try them straight away. I’ve done a short video as I was so impressed at how quick and easy it is to cut different types of wire using these cutters. So I’ve cut ring main cable, a normal extension lead type cable 13 amp and finally just to test the limits I tried an old phone cable. Absolutely no adjustments required on any of the cables, just place the cable between the jaws squeeze the handles and hey presto, the wire is stripped.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersIf you are looking for a multi-purpose cable stripper this is ideal. It’ll do up to 6mm twin and earth and all the way down to headphone audio cables. It’ll strip the outer jackets of cable insulation as well as the individual cable’s insulation. It saves nicking the copper with a Stanley knife (and risking ampuitating your thumb!). It’ll also let you cut cables cleanly to cut down on wastage. I haven’t used it for any crimping so I can’t comment.

It feels sturdy and durable. It’s perfect for professional and DIY use. Every electrician needs this as it’s a timesaver as well as something that cuts and strips neatly.

Very sturdy and solid build. The wire stripping function works but is not that great. It pulls the plastic around the cable rather than cut it so, it often leaves some behind that needs manual tidying. Wire cutting function works but could be sharper as you do need some force to get through a thicker cable. All in all, it just about does the jobs it claims to do for a reasonable price.

Robust, quick and easy to use tool that strips regular wires perfectly, without any skill required at all. No idea what the the ‘finger moveable’ adjustment dial with plus and minus signs does, and no instructions enclosed so I have left it alone. Wire cutting bevel edge has worn somewhat and does not always cut fully through. However, overall well worth the money to achieve safe and properly cut wires.

Spent a good few minutes looking at this device to try to figure out how it works and then realised that the idea of these wire strippers is to rip the shielding off the cables and whilst it does it well, the ripping doesn’t leave a clean end for doing things like adding an RJ45 clip.

You can add a clip but it’s not as clean as something like the CSTOM Cable Stripper.

You can adjust the severity of the grip and thus how deep it will grip and rip the cable sheath and so it can make stripping fast for jobs like punching down into patch panels but I still prefer the CSTOM stripper as mentioned above

Effective wire stripper, works well on all sizes tried so far. Smaller calbes are harder to strip than bigger ones and it can be a little tricky to get into position due to the size of the tool.

I had previously bought a cheaper brand wire stripper which had failed after a short period and when this item came up on special offer i couldn’t resist. Soft rubber grips ensure that you won’t slip and the precision action of the jaws self adjusts to your chosen cable diameter without any user adjustment necessary. The jaws also have a helpful scale on the side and a small plastic adjustable stop to help get the same length of exposed conductor every time. I have used them for a couple of months now and they are just brilliant. They also come with a cable cutter and crimp sections within the inside edge of the handle but i would only recommend cutting small diameter cable with this. I haven’t used the crimper section yet but its handy to have it there and not have to carry an additional tool.

Really good quality item which I bought to strip wire in the middle of a run in order to splice in a soldered joint.
The pliers are a joy to use, very well made and have a quality feel about them with lots of adjustments available to carry out a clean splice without damage to the wire.
They incorporate a crimping function too but I would recommend a plier specifically for this purpose as it is easy to incorrectly crimp connectors leading to failure. However with care they will produce a reasonable crimp.
They do the job I wanted, and often perform, safely and without damage to the wire. Would have no hesitation in recommending.

    A fantastic piece of kit.

Comes supplied in the usual plastic display packaging (which is a pain to remove in my opinion),

Strips outer casing of twin and earth cable, and the individual live and neutral cables with ease. No more using a knife or wire cutters for me!

Allows measurement of length to be stripped and a ‘stop’ to be set to allow repeat lengths to be stripped.

Allows a centre section of wire to be exposed to allow a wire tap to be soldered in to extend or create a new circuit – very useful for automotive use!

Wire cutters seem good and cut 2.5mm twin and earth with ease.

Only possible downside is that very thin cables cannot be stripped as it cannot be gripped (unless someone knows how to adjust the wire grips?)

Can’t see me using crimping section, but useful to have it there.

Wow is this thing well made ! I’m a bloke who appreciates a well made piece of kit and this most certainly doesn’t disappoint. Nice and weighty, easy to adjust and has stripped everything i’ve put in it 1st time. Very impressed ! Would recommend

Fed up of using my old basic cable stripper I thought I’d give this a go, as the reviews were pretty positive on the whole. It literally takes seconds to strip the outer sheath and then do the inner wires either separately or in one hit. The plastic yellow length limiter is the only potential weak point, as it could easily be lost or damaged amongst other tools in my bag but it’s really not a deal-breaker.
I only wish I could give this tool ten stars, it’s that good.

Nice tool. It failed to strip lengths of 10mm RGBW cable until i separated the five cores, which was a bit tedious, but other than that it’s been good.

If you need to strip Wires, these are what you need. Very reliable and does the job well, even with really thin wires.

Every electrician needs a set of these!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought these to replace an old pair of Rolson wire strippers – what a revelation – I’ve been using these for several months now and they’re superb. They’re at their limit with standard mains flex, but that covers most cable sizes anyway.

Durable but fiddly when insulation clogs mechanism. I don’t think these will last forever but they’ll survive long enough for me to get good value out of them.

These are a must for my son who is starting his electricians appreticeship. He is double chuffed with them.
He showed me how to use them, stripping the outer cover on a 3 core cable, then stripping the individual cores to just the length he neeeded.
The handle also incorporates a cutter and crimping notches to attach the copper tails. Very impressed.

Awesome product and works extremely well at stripping wires. I bought this without doing much research and although the product works perfectly it seems this product are made in a factory somewhere with different brand names slapped on them. If you look you can find the exact same product for less than half the price………..

POSSIBLY THE EASIEST STRIPPERS IVE USED. NO HASSLE AND NO WASTE. ONLY DOWN SIDE WAS THAT THEY CANT TRIM VERY THIN CABLE LIKE ALARM CABLE, IT JUST TENDERED TO SNAP IT, I WOULD MARK THEM DOWN FOR THAT AS THEY EXCEL IN EVERY OTHER WAY

I wish I’d known such a device existed before it is really useful. It makes awkward wire stripping much easier especially outer insulation. This particular seller provided a very reasonably priced model within a very quick delivery time

Great, quality wire strippers from a trusted brand.

These are brilliantly made strippers that look and feel like they’re going to last a long time.

They work effortlessly – once you’ve realised how to work them!

    Great bit of kit.

Very good results. Very happy. Had several different types of strippers in the past, but so far this is the best type of stripper I ever used. Copes with thinner and thicker wires. Not the thinnest and not the thickest. But is strips electrical wires for home use extremely well (extension leads, telephone wires, etc.)

I’m very much an amateur so far as things electrical are concerned. Until I discovered this tool the little wires inside a cable were never too much of a problem. I always had trouble though with the outer covering. A fraction too much pressure and I had cut into one of the smaller jobs inside. This dedicated tool has been a great joy to me. It cuts through the outer cable covering – albeit sometimes with more than one squeeze of the handles – and it will deal with the inner wires either one at a time or individually if you want differing lengths. The instructions aren’t as clear as they might be for people like me but you will discover by trial and error, for example, that the small yellow spacer can be moved out of the way entirely when necessary. Nonetheless it is very good value for money.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI had seen one of these products being used by an engineer doing some wiring work. When stripping wires of any size within the spec., the tool does the job much easier than a standard stripper. Next day, free delivery (I am a Prime member) helped make this an all round excellent purchase.
