If you do any – I repeat any – electrical work, it will likely include removing the insulation from cable and/or flex. You will utterly bless the day you acquired one of these automatic wires strippers. No, really, you will…

So far, this Stanley item has worked, and indeed worked well, so cannot fault it. Recommended

I love this tool. I seriously wish I would have discovered it earlier, because now I feel like I’ve been needlessly working in hard-mode before it coming into my life. I’ve tried it on a variety of cable and wire sizes without any issue and without it cutting too deep or shallow. It’s right on the money every time.

Generally I like this tool, however it doesnt always strip the inner wires and often needs two or three goes. The cutter is good and has not failed yet even on 1.5 m flex cable.
    Generally its good

The stripper works great, but after a short amount of use I’d say the wire cutter is average at best.

Bought one of these to try as I have a load of lights, lights witches, sockets, fused connection units and a consumer unit to install for a outdoor building project. Perfect for 1.5 and 2.5mm twin and earth as it simply ‘bites and strips’ automatically. I really don’t know why I didn’t buy one of these ages ago. It’s not like I hadn’t heard of them…

Have been struggling with wire stripping for years as an avid DIYer. Had some cheap plier type ones but they were not very effective. You have to pull the relaxant insulation but the rubber covers on the handles just pulled off before the insulation did. Usually resorted to a Stanley knife but doing that makes it very easy to damage the copper wire or knick other bits of insulation.
Also my arthritic hands are getting worse and make it difficult to grip many of the tools I have used for years.
This piece of kit is very good, once you get the hang of it.
Very accurate and neat. Handles are long enough to give me enough leverage with the hand problem I have.

My trusty CK strippers of about 20 years finally died when one of the springs snapped and it all went ping over the garage. So I searched for a replacement and decided to take a chance on these.

They seem to be well made of decent materials and are slightly chunkier than my old ones. Other than that, they seem identical apart from the colour.

The strip is a little ragged, but ease of use and speed trump that little issue. They are an essential part of my tool kit that I missed when the old ones broke.

Absolutely amazing product, spent all weekend stripping random wires, felt like a professional electrician! Not sure the wife was that impressed though

Honestly, I quite happily sit on the sofa stripping wire all day long. It’s that much fun.

Oh, and it’s really good at what it does. There’s a limit obviously to the thickness of the wire you can fit in there but for me with some force I was able to get all the wires I needed to be stripped, stripped.

I’ve no idea about the crimping options it provides because there are many and I don’t do any crimping but I’m sure it’s good for people who know about these things.

The wire cutter section could do with being a little bigger though frankly but that’s a minor thing and nice that there even is one at all.

Cut my hedge trimmer wire being clumsy in the heat after a workout in the gym. Was gutted but knew I could repair the wire.

Seen people strip wires with pliars and all sorts and it looks shoddy, and then they go and wrap electrical tape around it. Wasn’t going to happen with me. Never stripped a wire before so I bought this and it’s perfect.

Bought an IP68 junction box, stripped the wires, fixed it all up and used the trimmer today.

I`ve used them on a job 9 lights 10 sockets. Stripping conduit cable was easy. Up a ladder cutting the length for a Wago. The only down side was after a while the cutters started to clog up and slip. Bit of clean and were good to go.
People hate them but all around strippers flex, then the cores in one easy action. I use them ALL the time now.

These are great for reasonably thick gauge cables, I found on thinner ones it struggles to grip the outer sheath enough to get a good clean strip.

Very easy to use, just pop the cable into the jaws horizontally and squeeze the handles together – it strips the outer sheath off easily. There is also a small adjustable plastic bit that you can use to get every cable to the same length strip.

Handy tool and would highly recommend over manually stripping cables.

I had a cheaper cable trimmer that worked 1 out of 4 attempts, it also never worked as a cutter on anything thicker than a human hair. This bad boy works 100% of the time on any thickness of cable I have had need to use in a domestic setting. You can cut with one section then stick the cut end in the top bit, press it together and the outer layer is stripped with no damage to the inner layer. Awesome and such a time saver even if you dont often do DIY.

Why I did not get one of these earlier is beyond me! Trying to use a stanley knife and the perils of cutting into the wrong cables or pliers and not getting the correct length disappear with the cable cutting abilities of this tool. Tip – You have to make sure that you remove the plastic stripped ends off the cables from the cutter though otherwise the next strip is not good! Really easy to use and very good quality.

All the video’s and demonstrations I could find online for this tool showed it being used professionally with a variety of mains cables.

Whilst I do re-wire the odd plug, my wire stripping needs are usually around stripping 22AWG wires and despite these being rather chunky, they strip the 22AWG wires perfectly and predictably.

When I’m building kits up, I tend to have to make up a lot of connecting cables and although I’m well practiced at stripping wires, sometimes you can still make a mistake. With this tool, there are no more mistakes. Every wire is stripped perfectly every time. This saves so much time for me it’ll pay for itself in time saved within a month.

Work great even with smaller gauge wire

So, I initially bought the Yato YT-2313, but had to return it because it was pretty much useless (couldn’t strip a standard 3-core wire). So, I decided to go Stanley Fatmax done the same wire and was day and night in comparison! This tool is way more superior than the Yato wire stripper! The Stanley Fatmax was consistent in how it strips, had a strong grip and the material used was a lot better! So, as the titled says – think twice before buying cheap.

Was tempted by cheaper offerings on the website however the Stanley fatmax range has never let me down so far so I decided to pay the extra and get these.
Very happy with the purchase! Previously I’ve used a knife of some kind to strip wires and never really saw the news for a tool to carry out the same job, however I am currently rewiring a number of rooms in my house and this has made things so much easier and cool proof. Cable wastage is minimal as I makes the cuts perfectly every time.

Obviously when wiring any fixed appliances / outlets in the home make sure you are safe and turn off power at the distribution board. Also ensure you are qualified to carry out the work or that you are aware of the sign off procedures in place to approve your work (Part P for U.K. residents).

I rarely rave about a product. For me if it does what it says on the can then it is good. The Fatmax wire stripper is exceptional. I already had a pair of stripping pliers where there is a finger screw to control the depth of cutting, but after rewiring a pair of speakers where I managed to keep on shortening the cable, unable to easily to determine the depth of cut I decided to get an automatic wire stripper. So far it is tremendous. Virtually any size of cable which will fit in its jaws will be neatly stripped of its outer layer and with multi core cable then with another pass the group of individual cores can then be neatly stepped of their insulation. It is a joy to use.Absolutley easy to use – needs no instructions. I am unable to compare it to any other automatic stripper but this one for me is the bees knees!

I had intended to get same as old ones, however many of these appeared to be cheap and cheerful, not very robust. This had good reviews, and although I have not seen this design before, I thought I’d take a chance. I’m very glad I did! The cable cutter is not partcialry sharp, but the main purpose is to strip cable. I have not used the crimper part of the tool yet, so I cannot comment on its effectivness. Overall, a good buy and great value – wish I had discovered them earlier!

Bought this to use to rewire a house as a home DIY enthusiast and I can safely say it make the job much quicker. Stripping cables takes seconds and leaves a good finish. There are lots of functions of these strippers and it doesn’t come with instructions meaning I probably wasn’t using it to the best of its ability. However it was easy to use with no instructions. I used this for 2.5mm T&E and speaker cable with no problems.

    Bought these on a whim
I’m so used to using my snips but I thought I’d give these a try
    Absolutely love these
They save me lots of time and can be used for all sorts of wire stripping
I still need to use my original snips now and again for small fiddly jobs where these are to big to get in but I always pick these up for most jobs now

I’ve recently taken up amateur radio and this Stanley device is perfect for antenna coax and all other types of wiring. I use it for all my wiring repairs and projects around my home. Gone are the years of trying to use an inferior stripper or a knife and the work looks so professional.
