It is working really well for us. I’m gradually using all the cooking methods but the fan oven does work very well.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our Users.Nice oven, as I live on my own I was using the main oven just to cook 1 fish fillet, 1 bread roll etc.so thought I would give a mini oven a go. I am so pleased I did, looks good although the outside does get very hot, but cooks perfectly just adding a couple minutes extra to cooking time. The instructions could have been clearer showing just icons, I did figure out these but it is trial and error until you get used to it. I would recommend this oven for single people, no bending down and looks good on worktop. Yet to see if it saves on electricity.

    Convenient, easy to use

Very pleased with this. One problem so far is it is difficult to set for short periods of say 6 or 8 minutes as calibration of timer unclear. Also if anything seeeps through glass of door it is impossible to access for cleaning. But overall thrilled with it and thoroughly recommend.

Instructions were not helpful. Did not explain what the different pictures represented – i.e. fan, grill or oven etc.
Temperature seems to be about 10 degrees too lower than settings state.
Cleaning causes scratching, even with non stick scourers.
On the plus side, much more economical than using a full sized oven.

The grill is a bit slow.
Oven heats quickly, uses little electricity.
Took it camping and used it most days.

Really lightweight and easy to move.
Now being used in main kitchen because my partner can’t work our new gas oven!
A pizza doesn’t fit, but microwave defrost and cut it in half and it’s fine!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersTo start with, this is for the single person, it’s too small for family duties. That said it will cook most things, is has several different modes of cooking, convection, rotisserie, grill, combination of modes.
It does get very hot, and needs plenty of air space, not for caravan duties. The drop down door is not for supporting anything, least of all hot dishes.
It probably over heats by about 10 degree’s, so knock 10 off your temperature, its temperature range is upto 240. The cooking timer is upto 2 hours.
I’m very happy with it so far.

This is just a great oven that comes with so many accessories.
There are 3 mesh trays – 2 of them are almost flat and the 3rd one is deep.
They are great for air frying chips or like in my case the deep mesh tray for chicken drumsticks.
The drumsticks are done on the chicken setting for about 40-45 minutes and they are perfectly done.
If you want to roast a whole chicken , the oven comes with chicken fork and fetch rack.
There is a drip tray that is important to use as it will keep the oven clean.
There is a double sided grill / bake plate ,which can be used one side for pizza and on the other side for grilling.
It is a pretty thick plate covered with non stick coating.
The plate also has a removable handle.
The parts of the oven are dishwasher safe ,which is great.
For easier cleaning you can remove the door of the oven and clean it.
Also removing the door gives better access inside the oven for cleaning.
The oven comes with really good instructions and also a nice chart with different food and weight of the food that you can cook and the corresponding time ,temperature of the oven and cooking function that you need to use.
Also it shows if you need to turn the food during cooking.
Overall it is a great air frying oven that comes on a price of 199.99.
The price looks high ,but I think it is just the right one as you get a great quality oven with many functions that doesn’t need oil to cook.

Hopefully my review was Helpful for you.

    Great quality air frying oven.

This Tefal EasyFry 9in1 Oven is fantastic. Because the machine is quite large, it will require some space. The capacity is ample and comes in handy when entertaining family and friends. It’s best for two people, but it cooks quickly, so you can make multiple batches. It can air fry, grill, roast, and bake, a versatile all at in one machine. It has an easy-to-use touch screen panel with pre-sets for Chips, Meat, Chicken, Fish, Pizza, Desert, and Grill, as well as a Dehydration mode for making dried snacks. With a simple touch of the up or down arrows, you can change the temperature and cooking time. The machine has an interior light, so you can see how the food is cooking through the door. I’ve used it numerous times and cooked a variety of meals that have always turned out perfectly. Meats are tender and succulent, chips are delicious and crispy, and muffins, cookies bake perfectly. I’m sure I’ll be experimenting and making more nutritious meals as well as more cheeky treats. The machine cooks quickly and efficiently, saving me a significant amount of time. It includes a variety of accessories, including an oil tray, chicken fork, two dehydrating racks, a fetch rack, a fries basket, and a die-cast grid grill. Overall, a good multi-purpose machine. To get the most out of it, I had to experiment with it. The machine, as well as the accessories, are relatively simple to clean. Overall, a good all-arounder that heats up quickly and delivers nutritious foods.

    Good all-rounde

This air fryer is very complete and versatile, as you can use it as an air fryer or mini oven, it is very easy to use, very straight forward, and very easy to clean, except the trays, this is something that if you don’t wash properly it will get stained by the oil and won’t come out, unless you keep it clean from the start. I loved the door and the fact that you can remove it to clean it, just be careful to get water inside other wise it’s gonna look watery from the outside. The grill base is also easy to use and works perfectly. I haven’t try all the modes but the ones I have used are perfect! Chips come out nice and crispy. What I have found is that it can be small, I can’t fit the same amount of potatoes chip as I did in my last air fryer. Apart from that it’s brilliant! I’ll definitely recommend.

    Versatile and easy to use

It’s quick to heat up and you can cook something more quickly than in a traditional oven. The various cooking methods are good but the instructions are terrible and don’t help you to understand them, or how to use them properly, at all. So it takes a bit of experimentation both in terms of the best cooking method to use and the cooking times which seem to vary significantly from a traditional oven.

If you persevere with it you can definitely get some good results. We’ve mostly been using it for relatively simple things so far like for example a tray of oven chips, for which it’s great. It’s quite loud when it’s running though, so you have to bear that in mind if it’ll be somewhere where that’s an issue.

I find it a bit fiddly to clean with lots of parts, trays and nooks and crannies for grease to find its way in to.

It might be good for a student or a couple. I don’t think it’s going to be so much use for a larger family though because of its limited size.

Part air fryer, part grill, part rotisserie and part mini oven this really is a do everything appliance.

It does a very good job in pretty much every area too. The food cooks quickly and evenly and due to the small size of the unit I suspect that it uses less power than a standard oven. The three racks mean that you can get a surprising amount of food inside, and with careful management you can cook a whole meal for a small or not very hungry family in one go. Easily cooking a full meal for two people in one go. So far I have done chips, a rotisserie chicken, sweet potato fries, cup cakes, omelette, potato rosti, onion bhaji, dehydrated apples, grilled cheese sandwich, roasted vegetables and much much more. I love it!

The touch panel is easy to use and responsive. Once you get used to the functions it is very intuitive. There are loads of videos and recipes online to try. It is also easy enough to clean with a removable non stick pan in the bottom to catch the fats, crumbs and oils.

The only problem I have is with the instructions. They consist of a series of pictures that take a lot of working out and an online PDF file with some recipes which I tried but more often than not do not turn out very well at all. For the money I would have expected a proper instruction manual and at least a physical recipe booklet.

The poor instructions is not going to stop me giving this 5 stars though. In the few weeks I have been using it this has become my most used kitchen gadget ever. The lower power consumption and healthier food are also very important factors for me. Recommended.

The first thing you notice on unpacking is the size of it, it’s not going to be easy to store! Too big for most kitchen cupboards and it will take up quite a bit of worktop space. In the box is 2 dehydrating racks, oil tray, chicken fork, fetch rack, fries basket, and a die-cast aluminum grid grill with removable handle. Some of these items are a little flimsy, for the price this is disappointing. You also get a quick start guide and recipes online. Despite the total size of the unit the actual cooking space is not that large, I think this is ideal for meals for one or two but I question if it would suit families. There are 8 pre-set programs for cooking the following at the press of button — Fries, Chicken, Meat, Fish, Pizza, Dessert, Grill and dehydration mode. The unit has quite a loud fan when it is in operation, so this is something to bear in mind if you have an open plan kitchen (like I do!) Also the meat or whatever you are cooking requires regular turning, so I wonder how well pizza would could on the bottom as you cannot turn them over! I think if I had the choice of what to buy I would not choose this option, I would simply get an air fryer as this is the most useful cooking method. I have only cooked chips and wedges from frozen so far and they turned out lovely but I could I only cook a small amount at a time which was annoying!

My kitchen cupboards are full of devices that I thought would be useful and time saving, but turned out not to be. This isn’t one of them, it’s a genuinely useful addition to any kitchen. In fact, in a small home it could just about replace a traditional oven (although you would be limited in terms of any larger food (pizza, turkey etc). Nevertheless, it’s a great little oven with a variety of uses – I particularly like the rotisserie (but make sure your chicken isn’t too big!).

Food cooked in the oven tastes good, and it cooks a lot more quickly than my standard oven. The fact that it uses less (or even no) oil makes it healthier too. The oven is simple to use and the instructions easy to understand.

The black colour of the oven is inoffensive and it will fit in with the decor in just about any kitchen. The touch screen is clear and easy to use. Cleaning is fairly straightforward. Overall, then, I am very pleased with this and would have no hesitation in recommending. It will get used.

I have ordered this for our daughter as she is starting university so she will be moving away and this air fryer will help her a lot not just for cooking faster but also much healthier food without oil and grease.
We have been using this air fryer for the last couple of weeks, mostly trying different recipes of grilled wings and roasted chicken, the results are amazing. Our daughter loves the lemon and herb chicken wings cooked in this air fryer.

This air fryer is super easy to use and has an easy to navigate menu, you can choose from 8 pre-programed cooking settings as well as adjusting their time and temperature. The display is touch sensitive and fairly large. It comes with different tray attachments which are easy to maintain and keep clean.
We’ve checked the instructions and watched some videos to find more recipes and learn what this can do but after using it for a few times and playing around with it, we’ve got used to it and now know exactly how to use the settings and many minutes to set it for depending on the type of food, if it’s frozen or not.

I am sure this will be a massive kitchen aid for my daughter after she moves away, it’s super easy and convenient to use, saves time, the food tastes better and it’s definitely healthier.

Very convenient - healthier food and time saving

WOW! I LOVE this machine. It uses less electric than our standard cooker, does more and works like a dream! I’ve cooked everything from shop bought pies to bacon, to a spit roast chicken in this! It is incredible!

I’ve included photos of the medium sized spit roast chicken. I wasn’t sure how to turn the temperature down from 200 degrees for this. I’m not sure you can. I usually cook chicken at a lower temp. I also wasn’t sure how to increase the time from 60 minutes, however no biggy.. i just turned the machine back on after 60 minutes was up. However we did overcook our chicken like we always do with chicken, just to be sure and on safe side. We used a bit of tinfoil as didn’t have any string to hand to keep the wings and legs together whilst it spun around being spit roasted. When it came to trying the chicken i was totally overjoyed. OMG juicy juicy … i tell you this now. Never has chicken tasted so good!!!!The bottom which would usually be soggy was also very nice. Because the chicken’s in constant rotation i think this ensures the juices don’t seep out and instead remain in the chicken. Usually chicken breasts are too dry. Not these ones. Delectable!!!!!

This Tefal 9 in 1 oven is stylish in looks and great for a worktop. Doesn’t take up as much room as you’d imagine. It’s easy to clean and even the door can be unclipped for easier cleaning. It comes with lots of accessories too. I love the light! I can turn it on whenever i want to view my food properly. It cooks evenly, the pies we’ve cooked didn’t have an overdone top side like they get in our oven. Great machine and one i’ve found myself using more than my regular oven.

    Oh my! Legendary machine!!!!

I have purchased several air fryers over the years from the original Actifry to the Ninja Duo cook, so I have a pretty good idea of how good they are and how versatile. Therefore I was looking forward to trying this Tefal EasyFry 9in1 FW501827 Oven with its 9 functions and large 11L capacity. In addition I was able to try the 3 in 1 version. Starting with the Tefal EasyFry 9in1 FW501827. Out of the box it looks good and has a small footprint on the work top. This looks great I thought as I went to read the instructions to get it going. That is where I met the first problem. I like instructions which are in a simple numerical order of what you have to do. I searched through all of the literature which came with the item and thought that perhaps the instructions were missing. Eventually I realised that the only instructions come in a sort of pictorial fold out sheet, but there is no real explanation of the functions. I looked online but could not find anything there so I just had to guess really and use the pictures as a guide best I could. Now do not get me wrong, I think that modern airfryers are one of the most useful kitchen items of recent times and I use my Ninja almost daily. The problem in my view with this one is that there are no proper baskets, the set up is much as you would expect in a mini oven with different types of shelves. I find that to get the best results from air frying, every now and again you need to shake the basket to ensure an even cook and crispness. I just cannot see how you can do this easily with this one. I found myself having to use an oven glove for quickness to pull the shelf out and then I needed a pair of tongs to move the items around before returning them to the oven which by then had lost a lot of its heat. I also found that it did not cook as quickly as my Ninja which I can only put down to the large cavity and the loss of heat each time I had to adjust the food. So far as air frying goes, for me this particular machine is a non starter. However, for other cooking methods it does do a good job. It works very well as a small oven to save me having to heat up the main one and I can cook things such as lasagnes and small cakes in it and save money on electricity. I also had a go at drying out orange slices which I found worked well. I am not going to try the rotisserie function as quite frankly that just seems more trouble than its worth to me and not worth all of the cleaning afterwards. So in summary, if you really want an Tefal airfryer most of the time, then choose another Tefal model with a basket. Tefal do an excellent range. One of which is reviewed below. If you want an oven for occasional airfrying, but predominantly to act as a small oven, then this definitely is the model you need.
I then went on to test the Tefal FW201827 3 in 1 machine which will airfry, grill and steam. This is much more similar to other airfryers I have owned over the years and on test turned out to be excellent. It has a large size basket which is large enough to get a whole chicken into which cooked perfectly in less time than in a conventional oven. Chips and boneless chicken thighs came out brilliantly crispy whilst not dry and it is easy to give the basket a quick shake mid way if necessary. To be honest though, the good size of the basket makes this less necessary than when using a machine with smaller baskets. I tried the grill function with bacon and also halved tomatoes. Performance was excellent. The machine also has a steam function which I have not tried as I have a steamer which I use independently for that, but I would imagine it would be useful if you had not got one or wanted to save on space.

A few points struck me right away with this Tefal EasyFry 9in1 Oven.

    – It is quite a large appliance to sit on your work surface so consider where it is going to live once you have made the purchase. As the advert says it has an XXL capacity.

    – Easy to use, all the controls on a single touchscreen panel. Once you have mastered the use of this panel it’s childsplay to use.

    – It cooks much quicker than conventional appliances. The advert says 30% faster and I can believe that. Great if you want something quick.

I would say that you need to experiment with it a little to find the right balance of time, temperature and quantity of food. Sometimes the presets seem a little off so try things out and vary the recommended times to find what works best.

I could see this suiting any number of people and as it is so quick and versatile you get food cooked in a number of different ways and as it uses very little oil it is healthier too. Makes a great addition to the kitchen and I would have no hesitation in recommending it.

I’ve always had a basket air fryer! but have always wanted one of these.
its quite chunky! and takes up a fair amount of space on the work surface!
BUT ITS WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD!
it comes with a grill tray which is great for steaks and chicken!
if you turn over this tray it can be used as a pizza tray!

it also comes with 3 netted trays, one of which is designed specifically to cook chips as it has more depth.
i have found that if you use all the trays at once you do find whatever sauces/fats/oils that are on the higher trays transfer over to the lower trays, fortunately there is also a drip tray to collect this!

i found that lining each tray and using it as a miniature oven a easier way to use. this also stops the higher foods contaminating the bottom.
but do be warned that once at full capacity it does take longer for food to cook if you’re using all shelves.
It does come with attachment to cook a whole chicken almost in a “rotisserie” style. note this does not rotate! i also would advice it would only fit a small chicken!

the instructions were near enough non-existent! they were included in the box but i found there was matter of 4 sentences throughout the entire book in English.
luckily the air fryer is very self explanatory to use and i was well on my way within a matter of minutes with help from the photos on the front of the air fryer.
this is a brilliant appliance and i would be entirely lost without it, I’ve barely used my oven since having this!

really happy with it, its easy to use easy to clean all the trays are dishwasher safe!!
absolutely blown away would highly recommend

Best thing I've ever invested in!

My oven takes about 3 hours to break down cheap cuts of meat into delicious oven baked brisket, But this easy fry does it in less than half the time with less mess. The oven is quite powerful and goes up to a nice high heat, Which means it can crust up pizza bases a lot better than my conventional oven.

It has a useful timer, So as forgetful as i am, It will loudly let me know when i need to leave the living room and get back into the kitchen to finish off cooking dinner. Since i’m on a low calorie diet, This helps me cut down on fats, Keeping my carbs and fat count on the lower side.

Due to its large capacity, It can also cope with my larger family meals, With multiple items cooked at once. I really can’t find any negatives, As it is convenient to use, And cooks my meals quickly.

This item is going to be more ideal for some then others really. To start with, the EasyFry is no massive, rather the dimensions should give it away with it being just over 37 along the longest length. This is a compact device simply put.

Now this makes it ideal for me in a flat with limited counter space, or anyone who does not have a massive kitchen really with space and purpose built appliances. Also works great if your like our house, pizza, chips and veg, something this device excels in!.

To start with the easyfry comes well packaged as expected with all the bits inside already. You get a plethora of trays and easy to follow instructions which makes life easy. Using the device is simple, but as a tip in use if you fill it up, do move the trays around. For example couple of trays of chips move them around to let them cook evenly. Without that, it does seem some trays do cook slightly quicker.

Other food can be reheated and leave a much nicer taste then microwave and more convenient then heating up a large over, basically in our house, pizza! I did not test any single large item or the rotisserie aspect so cannot comment on that.

For us this is a nice device. It has multiple functions in one, looks smart and is compact. The compact size to us is a plus, appropriate for others not as much. Price wise, its reasonable for what it does so no complaints there.

Its design is sleek and modern, with a nice touchscreen and overall design. Touch screen control, easy to operate.
Various accessories and functions. Heating evenly, evenly heating up and down. The 360-degree rotisserie chicken function allows each side to be heated evenly, and the difference between it and the oven is that it is more able to lock in moisture.
Easy to use, easy to adjust time and temperature. It is recommended to use a black roasting pan as the bottom of the air fryer, which is used to receive food that may have oil stains and fall, so that the oven will be easier to clean.
A lot of air fryers are one-pot with just one basket, and I also like the design that just shakes hard enough to change the position of the food. But this multi-layer type, it increases the amount of food at the same time, but the capacity of the air fryer is limited, and the distance between each layer is also limited.
The air fryer is easy to use. You can also bake fries and pizza in the oven, but you have to set the time yourself to remind you. The air fryer omits the reminder of the time. The air fryer is more precise about the temperature. For example, my oven is old, and no matter what the temperature is, it is the highest temperature, so my food is prone to burnt on the surface and undercooked in the middle. The air fryer uses high-speed circulating air to accelerate heating, so it can avoid scorching on the surface to the greatest extent.

Easy to adjust time and temperature, even heating

Unlike many air fryers which have a basket/container type drawer to place food in, this model has a more conventional oven like drop down door. The external size is; 36cm depth including the cable connection that protrudes from the back, 32cm width and 36.5cm height. It’s not that heavy due to the mainly plastic construction. Internally the useable oven is 23cm depth, 17cm height and 25cm width. It’s not very big inside so unless you cooked items separately it would be small portions feeding a small family.

It comes with a grill plate, drip tray and 3 basket shelves, one being slightly deeper. The main chip basket has an internal size of 22cm x 18cm, the shallow wire trays 23.5cm X 20cm and finally the 24cm x 20cm grill plate. You also get a metal rod and skewer forks for the rotisserie, for this it will fit around a maximum 21cm long tied up chicken, as some of the space on the with is used by the fork attachment and bracket the rod sits into, to rotate. I’ve yet to test this feature as the chicken I bought was too big.

The instructions with this are poor, having never used an air fryer before I wasn’t sure what tray to use if I needed to place the drip tray in and the best location to place as in shelf height. I started with chips, cut some 8mm depth potato, washed, soaked, dried, and then put half a tablespoon of oil over in a bowl, mixed up and put in the basket. Turned the machine on and picked the chips icon and start, it immediately started up cooking. The instructions seem to show, 40mins for fresh made chips, but the program for chips was just 200 degrees for 20mins. Well after around 12minutes I noticed they started to get burnt on the edges and potato wasn’t cooked fully. Looking online it suggested cooking at 160 degrees and raising the temperature to 200 at the end. I tried that and the finished results shown in the photo. So I wouldn’t rely on the programs and just set own temperature and time. It did cook them in 25mins, a lot quicker than the 40mins stated in the instructions. I tried some frozen french fries and they cooked in around 14mins and came out lovely and crispy. No soggy bottoms for either home made or frozen, I guess the wire basket helps.

So what’s good? It cooks quickly, will be a big saving over using a main oven especially for smaller portions due to both time saved and heating a smaller space. It’s 2050w according to the label. The door clips off for cleaning but you need to manually wipe the inside. So far the results have been good. You can override any program option and change temperature and time, oven stops when door is opened, separate button for light and rotisserie. Non LED light but can be accessed and replaced.

What’s not to like? Instructions are poor but simple to pick up. Programs or ones tried are for guide only and trial and error seems to work better. Some of the cooking options are not realistic, clearly can’t fit a pizza in unless very small, but fine for home made (made to fit), grill plate but doesn’t get the heat like a pan can for searing a steak. Cleaning the wire racks can be a pain, they can go in the dishwasher but food can get trapped in the holes and needs some brushing to get out, it’s not as convenient as wiping a non stick surface but then does provide a way for air to circulate and cook evenly.

Overall if you can work with the size limitations , and need something that cooks quickly then this works well, it’s more convenient than the container air fryers as it’s like using a standard oven. A little expensive and so better suited if you are going to use its rotisserie function over just getting an air fryer only.

Cooks quickly, programs can’t be relied on and non-existent instructions

This 9 function multi cooker replaces so much of my kitchen equipment and does a really good job to boot.

It small enough to sit on my kitchen worktop, so is readily available, uses less power and is quicker than my regular oven and hob making it more economical to use and uses barely any oil making it healthier too.
I can honestly see this getting much more use than my full size oven.

It is easy to get up, easy to follow the instructions and the results have been really good. I especially like cooking my chicken in here as it cooks much quicker, more evenly and tastes delicious. The skin is crisp and the meat juicy.

It is big enough to cope with family sized portions, even for a family with hungry teenagers.

As for cleaning I am simply hand washing the parts after use and they clean up well without needing any major scrubbing.

a lot of reviews state the thermostat is wrong , well I find thermostats like people they don’t always tell the truth . the booklet shows a chicken will cook in 35 mins so don’t take the book as gospel use common sense I cooked a 1.5kg chicken in the oven @200c for 75 mins and it cooked really good . please read the receipe and adjust the timing and temp to the food . we have cooked different things in this oven as a family and it all turned out good . I have tried many ovens in 40+ years and this is one of the good ones for size ,price and economy . the top oven was twice the price but didn’t have all the functions so if space a factor or there are just 2 it is a great machine . and no I wasn’t paid for. this or do I work for anyone involved with this item The poll was on google that what peaked my interes

I had originally purchased a cookworks toaster oven that took forever to cook anything and had smoke coming out the door. After returning it I purchased this one and couldn’t be happier. It cooked a lasagna an hour quicker than the other oven and chips were cooked evenly instead of half burned half under baked. I also love the light feature as i haven’t had that before in a toaster oven.

    The only negatives are below:
Wire shelf is a bit stiff to get in on the bottom level.
The door handle and knobs get quite hot when oven is on so need to use gloves to open the door.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’ve had this a little while now. Bought it to use in my motorhome. Always use campsites, so paying for electric, but then cooking with gas. No more! I’ve cooked everything I would normally cook in my home oven in it, and everything has been fine. Also used it to grill bacon and steak. All good. I put an oven thermometer in it to check the temperatures. All accurate. Reaches temperature quickly. Would recommend this little oven to anyone with a camper/ motorhome, or a small kitchen with limited space. I think the spitroaster might be a bit messy, so not sure if I’ll use that yet. Microwaves may be quick, but you can’t cook everything in them!

So far has worked perectly, when used in oven mode heat seems even and cooking times have been correct. In grill mode not so good as the two elements are set quite far apart and the middle doesn’t cook/brown so well, so you need to keep moving the food around.

Pleased that it has a light, as our last one didn’t, and it makes keeping an eye on food much easier.

The main downsides (outside of the grill problem) is no handle for the pan, so you need oven gloves. Luckily our old one had a hook on handle that works with the provided tray. The other problem is there is no cover at the bottom of the oven to protect the lower elements from any splashes.

It doesn’t cool very quickly as a conventional oven but it still does the job and is handy when preparing multiple things if your main oven is occupied.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersI love this oven. I live alone and have a bad back so I can’t reach down anymore. This is amazing for one person. I don’t think i’ll use the rotisserie device because I prefer roast chicken in a bag as it comes ready prepared from the supermarket (where I live small chickens are 3 for 10). That was the first thing I cooked in it and it was lovely juicy evenly cooked to perfection. It’s a fan assisted oven which surprised me for something so compact and of course TEFAL is a name you can trust. It’s extremely well designed, I keep noticing little thoughtful features that show how much thought went into this item. For instance it has very small ‘legs’ with some sort of clever rubber feet that stop it sliding all over the place, this oven was designed to sit on a worktop and it won’t scorch the surface it sits on, yet the door opens and rests on it’s own handle at precisely the correct height to slide out the bottom tray directly onto the door – which is very helpful to slide out my chicken during cooking to test the temperature. This feature stops the whole oven tipping forward onto you which is a common problem with lesser models. Just buy it, you will be telling your friends about this oven I guarantee it.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis oven is roughly the size and weight of a microwave oven. Out of the box, it is pretty much ready to use. The three large dials on the front panel control its six cooking modes, temperature, and timer. They are functional and very easy to use, but they are a bit old-school, something you would never see on even the cheapest microwave oven these days. That said, for reasons we’ve never fathomed, you do of course see exactly these kind of dials on today’s full-sized cookers at all prices.
You get a metal wire tray and a shallow roasting tin, which slot neatly into the oven. This enables you to cook two lots of food at once, such as meat at the top and vegetables at the bottom. You won’t get a massive pizza in there, but we found cutting the uncooked pizza in half solved that problem. We’ve got a typical kitchen, with a full-sized cooker, so we found the rotisserie feature the big plus for us, as our cooker doesn’t do that. Skewer a small chicken on the rack and set it cooking, with that oven tray underneath it to catch the drips.

We’ve encountered these kinds of ovens in Italy, where student flats are often just bedsits carved up from apartments, and the “kitchen” turns out to be a trestle table with a plug-in oven plonked on it. This oven cooks better than any other we’ve tried, but as you’d expect it’s still not close to a full-sized cooker oven. It will cook most of the basics quite happily, but we’ve learned to not bother trying souffls or anything else fancy. We found this oven worked well and was easy to use, though the quality does lack in places. The trays do not slide nicely on the ledges, and its poor insulation means it gets very hot on the outside (though that does make the top of the oven a handy plate-warmer!)

Overall, this is not something we are likely to see in anyone’s dream kitchen any time soon, but it is a very good performer set against competing offerings out there. In terms of price, this is a heated (tee hee) and competitive market, so there are a couple of comparable offerings from people like Tower, but if we were handed this one to use, we’d would be quite happy with it, not least because of its rather nice rotisserie feature.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis small counter top oven really does do everything that a standard oven would but with the added bonus of being able to store it away and just plug it in when required. More people would have a use for this kind of oven than you think, I know my nan used to have one and I had one pretty similar at uni, it may even have been Tefal branded.

In appearance this oven is pretty basic in its functionality and styling but that makes it so simple to use, just plug it in and away you go. Capacity wise you are limited but just by its nature you wouldn’t be using it to cook for a family, it’s more likely to be for 1 or 2 person meals. So far my use of it has been limited to cooking a chicken (small) and a pizza. The chicken came out really crisp and golden brown, just the way I like it, also trying it with my favourite brand of frozen pizza I was happy with the results.

I only have two gripes for which I’ve knocked off a star
    * The timer is difficult to use as it only in 15 min gaps. Things need to be a bit more accurate so you are left to guesswork
    * It gets really hot so you need to be careful around it.

Aside from the two small gripes it’s a great piece of kit for good price.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIf you want a conventional electric cooker for a tiny space, like a caravan, workshop / workplace, office kitchen or bedsit, then this is perfectly sized – smaller than some microwave ovens, it has a very modest footprint for quite a fully-featured oven (temp, cooking style and timer – everything you could ask for in terms of functionality). It’s been a handy addition to my dad’s garage / workshop / den to give him something to cook the odd pie / pizza in when he’s covered in oil and banished from the house.

Regarding function, it’s extremely simple – no fancy settings, but easy control over the necessities. What more do you need? Obviously, the size limits the amount that you can cook inside it, although the tray is removable for larger items such as chickens and one-pot / casserole cooking, or warming up pre-made / leftover food (which it’s actually *perfect* for). You can quite happy cook two small/medium-sized pizzas in it, although anything larger and you’ll have to get creative with chopping it up to size.

The unit looks attractive too, with a sleek black finish – not the foremost consideration when buying a mini oven, but it never hurts to look smart, too! Probably not much of an issue if it’s in a workshop, but it won’t look out of place in a tidy office kitchen, either.

Exceptionally handy for fully equipping a small-space kitchen area, you can’t really fault it.

Golden Review Award: 24 From Our UsersThis is the new version of a Tefal mini oven we bought over 15 years ago — in the intervening time the design and look has been refined quite a lot.

The first thing to say is that it is very compact, about the size of a small microwave, and the oven cavity is big enough to take a tray of 6 muffins or (as the pictures illustrate) 9 scones. My 12-cup muffin pan doesn’t fit, but the 6-cup pan fits perfectly in the middle of the oven with good space for air to circulate. There would be room for a small chicken to roast, and with the grill pan supplied you could certainly make four rounds of cheese on toast or grill sausages for four people.

The controls are simple with dials to set temperature, mode, and time. The oven only operates if on the timer, which is a useful safety feature — there is no way the oven could be left on indefinitely by accident. There are 8 modes including defrost and bain marie settings, all generated by the combination of a top and a bottom heating element and a circulaire fan.

The instructions are basic and (as is common for these appliances) use diagrams and tables rather than explanatory text. Fortunately the oven is simple enough to use that most people won’t need much help from these minimal instructions. Set up is very simple — take it out of the box, remove stickers and packaging, plug it in — but the oven does get hot all over in operation so care must be taken with placement. The oven could not be placed on top of another appliance, and needs air circulation behind it to avoid damage. It is very well worth following the instruction to operate the oven empty for 20 minutes the first time, to eliminate the slight chemical smell generated by heating up new components for the first time.

So how well does it cook? The test pan of scones I made certainly baked well on the “bake” recommended setting, which uses the bottom element plus the fan; but I found I needed to switch over for the last 5 minutes to the “traditional” setting (top and bottom elements, no fan) to get the tops browned as I wanted them. Heat distribution around the oven was very even, and the light makes it easy to see what’s going on as the cooking proceeds. I think a little experimentation with the different settings would be needed to get the maximum use out of the oven, but all the settings do work pretty much as you would expect. It’s not hugely powerful so be prepared for some dishes to take a bit longer than they would in a full-size oven or grill. I think you would struggle to make really crispy roast potatoes in here as the temperatures don’t get that high.

The oven comes with a rack that doubles as the shelf, grillpan tray, and rotisserie attachment. While the options to grill and roast are great to have, doing a lot of this would lead to a lot of cleaning — the small size of the oven and the fact that the top and bottom elements are boosted by reflecting heat from the floor and ceiling of the cavity mean that a lot of baked-on grease could become a problem both for the safety and the effectiveness of the oven.

I certainly don’t see this replacing the full-size oven for a large household, but of course that’s not what it is designed for. It is really best as a short-term solution when the full kitchen is out of action, for holiday use in a cottage or caravan, or to provide extra space alongside the main cooker. It should also be a more energy-efficient way to make cheese on toast or heat up a ready meal than using a full-sized oven (though I haven’t been able to test this by comparison). The build feels sturdy and Tefal is a reliable brand in my experience — though a bit battered from travelling, our old Tefal oven is still working and this model seems equally robust. For the right situation this would be a really useful and effective piece of equipment.

Handy little oven with a range of uses

  96. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersI’ve used mini ovens since Tefal first introduced them in the mid 1980’s and my model from the 1989, with glass doors to the front and rear, is still going strong after 30 years and is testament to their longevity! This Tefal oven is a significant upgrade on its early model, larger, more powerful and with more features.

Measuring 45cm wide x 26cm deep (excl handle) x 28cm high externally and 32cm wide x 24cm deep x 16cm high internally (usable space, ie excluding upper and lower heating elements) it is ideal for any kitchen, particularly a smaller kitchen or for the smaller household. It’s also perfect for those who do not need a large full-size or double oven setting the electricity meter spinning or could be an additional cooker for preparing additional meals in a larger household. I wish these had existed in my student days because it would be ideal in a tiny student kitchen, just as it is in my mini campervan when it accompanies me on longer camping trips and runs off campsite electrical hook-ups.

This cooker will grill, bake, roast, bain-marie, defrost and has a rotisserie rod too thus catering for all styles of oven cooking. Cooking temperatures range from 100C to 240C with a rapid heat-up, taking about 6 minutes to reach 240C and the thermostat is accurate as checked by an independent Salter oven thermometer. 240C is hotter than most mini ovens which tend to reach 230C as their maximum temperature. An internal light gives a good view inside through the glass door so cooking progress can be monitored without having to open the door.

I tested the oven with frozen fish, burgers, oven chips, a loaf of bread, thick chicken pieces, a small chicken and lamb chops. Cooking is thorough, as tested with a food thermometer (I’m a trained food handler) and even. Bread and cakes should be kept away from the walls and a few of the oven chips were slightly unevenly cooked – but this is always the case with oven chips unless they are turned or rotated during cooking. Although the top of the chicken was crisp, the inside of the was correctly cooked and the overall texture was moist and tender, just as if it had been roasted in a full-size cooker.

Build quality is impressive although the three silver control knobs look rather plasticky. The top knob controls the temperature via 20C graduations, while the lower knob is the timer which can be set for between 15 minutes to 2 hours – a wider range than many other mini ovens which have a maximum 60 minute timer which makes this Tefal ideal for cooking meat joints, chickens and other dishes requiring a longer cooking time. The middle knob has 8 illustrations representing various combinations of the upper and lower heating element, fan and rotisserie spit. Once the user works out that the four/bottom top dots are the upper and lower heating elements respectively, the side-to-side arrows are the roasting spit, the circle of arrows represent the fan and the three ice-dots, similar to those on a freezer, plus drop of water are defrost mode, then it’s simple to use and the vast array of user illustrations then fall into place making it is intuitive to use. I’m used to mini ovens, having used nothing else for the last 30 years, but some of these illustrations had me baffled for a while.

Having used the oven several times daily for the last 3 weeks I am delighted with it and it has quickly become a favourite for its performance, economy, compact size and light weight. I haven’t used it for defrosting or as a roasting spit but every other function has been thoroughly tested and it’s in the Top Two of the best mini ovens I’ve used out of about 15. This is one I would definitely buy and recommend without hesitation. It also has a more compact build and lighter weight than others I’ve used which adds to its portability making it ideal for carrying in a campervan or motorhome, or taking into hotel accommodation to cook discretely in your room.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThis is unusually versatile for a plug-in oven, with a full range of functions. I can’t claim we’ve tested it in depth yet, because we do have a full-size double oven for the time being. We’re impressed although the capacity is perhaps lower than we imagined (which does have the benefit of making the oven itself very compact of course).

It works well with everything we’ve tried so far. Pizzas (small/medium — some of the bigger ones won’t fit) on near-maximum temperature are easily as good as those from our built-in Bosch oven. The grill does a good job with bacon, cheese on toast, and the like. A loaf cake came out well but a tray of scones baked a little unevenly — try and avoid placing things near the edges of the oven.

You can roast a small or medium chicken in there, whether or not with the rotisserie. You might struggle to get much else in at the same time though. There’s a heating element in the base (as well as the top), so anything you put on the floor of the oven such as vegetables you want to roast is likely to burn.

The controls are easy to use, it heats up pretty quickly and our oven thermometer confirms that the thermostat is accurate. It gets quite hot on the outside, so take care when using high temperatures. It’s fairly quiet and the timer is welcome.

This is great as a supplement to a single oven, for use in mobile homes, etc., or for anyone who has difficulty bending to access a low oven. It’s going to be very welcome when we have our kitchen refitted and the main oven is out of action.
