My sisters addicted to this game she previously had it on the xbox like a decade ago and sunk so so many hours into it so when it came out for the switch she had to have it. Still glitchy as hell considering all the releases it has. But she’s enjoying it and is enjoying recording all the glitches

    Great po
Excellent port, i am a huge fan of Skyrim, i played the entire game and dlc’s on my xbox many moons ago and so i was ready to dip into it again this time on the switch.

this port is great and i have not noticed any lag issues and i only had one crash in my 140+ hours.

Ive noticed some reviews talking about pop-in when docked and while this does happen i haven’t found it to ruin the game play experience at all and i don’t think its nearly as bad as people say.

I mainly play in portable mode and i have noticed no pop in or texture glitches at all, the system handles it extremely well, i sat happily for 9 hour plane journey in a tight cramped economy seat (im 6ft) (i also had a portable charger IT IS A MUST).

A great version of Skrim that you can play on the go, amiibo support that gives you zelda themed items is a great bonus.

Needs no introduction. Plenty of depth and scope as a game and works just as well in handheld mode, although if with a tv it’s better.

What more is there to say, if you were a Nintendo Fan and happened to miss the initial Skyrim release, then you certainly have the opportunity to catch-up now, without having to also fork out for the DLC (Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn) which is handily included.
Bethesda certainly continue to prove they know what they’re doing, improving upon many aspects of prior Elder Scrolls games, and although many might argue it “dumbed down too much” it hasn’t dumbed it down enough to make it seem unnecessarily pointless, tedious, or unfun, where you can happily bound up mountains on foot or on your horse (which occasionally seems to define physics – a trait present in first release), engage in combat at hand-to-hand, using medieval weapons, or mystical magic, or – as everyone will say is inevitable, as a stealth archer up in the hills beneath the shadows of a tree several hundred metres away from your target.

Yes, Skyrim for the Switch brings just as much joy as any previous release to other consoles, and the switch controls work wonderfully, being able to use the motion controls (if you so desire) to aim is excellent.

The only thing missing for those that are super interested, would be the ability to access console (a trait reserved for PC due its far higher power levels) which can cause a variety of mischief.

So, if you missed the boat for Skyrim in 2011, or simply a new player wanting to become the worlds Greatest War Lord, Dragon Slayer, Stealth Archer, Thief Guild and Assassin Member, and all-around powerful ‘Dragonborn’, then what are you waiting for – click ‘add to cart’ and be done with it!

Great gameplay but a little lacking graphically
This is a really great game for the switch and is a refreshing change of pace from the normal titles you find on a Nintendo system. The game is not so great graphically and virtually unplayable in some lights due to the dark setting and the screen glare that you experience sometimes. Despite that it is still a great game and a welcome addition to the system.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAmazing portable experience
I originally bought Skyrim years ago on the x360 and whilst I enjoyed it I never got any real way into it. Other games called me and I lost the desire to resume my 10hrs gameplay or whatever it was.

Roll forward to 2017 and as soon as I saw that it was coming to the switch I was interested. My gaming time is limited to portable or late evenings after the family have gone to bed and I couldn’t resist getting it on Switch.

Some 3 months later and over 100hrs of gameplay to date I have to say this has been well worth it. It plays well, looks good (who cares if it isnt full HD or 4k as it looks fine in portable mode or when I dock it on my 65″ 4k TV).

The controls are great whether using in desktop with motion controls and the joycons used separately, or when attached yo the screen in portable or when using thhe Pro controller when docked.

I’m nowhere yet finished and am looking forward to the next 50/100 hrs or whatever it’ll take.

If you’re looking for a huge world full of awesome landscapes, hidden dungeons, wizardry, one/two handed attacks with swords, maces, axes or stealthily creeping around and shooting arrows from afar, then Skyrim is the game for you.

    Just get i

Considering Skyrim is quite old the graphical difference is not that big.
It is much closer to enhanced definition rather the original one.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersBack to Skyrim
I’ve been a gamer for nearly 30 years and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is in my top 3 games of all time (along with Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Silent Hill 2). I’d played this for over 350 hours back in 2011/2012 when I had it on the PS3 so am very familiar with the incredible world that you get drawn into and completely immersed with. But with so many other great new games out at the moment on the Nintendo Switch I was a bit unsure if I wanted to commit that sort of time to a 6 year old game that I’d played a lot of before, but being Skyrim (on a handheld none the less!) I decided to give it a go and I am so glad I did!

I was expecting this, being a handheld game (if you choose) to have been cut down, either content-wise or graphically, but no – Bethesda have done an incredble job here and nothing (as far as I can tell) has been removed (in fact, all of the DLCs are included off the cartridge – no downloading required) and visually this game looks as amazing as ever (if not even better than it did on the PS3). To have such a rich, massive game on a handheld is simply mindblowing – playing Skyrim in my car or my lunchbreak at work is something dreams are made of for a big fan of the game as I am!

The new motion controls are a good novelty, not something I would play the whole game through with but when sitting on the sofa with the Switch docked then it is a fun new way of playing it – especially when using the bow and arrows or lockpicking.

Load times are cut down by a lot too which is so good (if you ever played this on other systems, you know how frustrating it was to be in the middle of a quest – open a dungeon door then have to wait 2 minutes for it to load).

So all my other games and ones I want are going to have to wait for a few months now as Skyrim has pulled me in again and I am having a great time. If you’ve never played this game before then I can’t recommend this highly enough. If you have played it before and loved it and fancy playing it again, this is definitely the best way and system to play it on.

This is now my third time buying this game, was on the fence really but thought I’d give it a go, and once again it’s became my go to time killer and I’m just loving it all over again. It looks brilliant on the Switch and I have no real faults to say about it.
It’s Skyrim on a console, with the upgraded graphics, and you can take it with you anywhere, really does sum it up as I’m sure most have already played it somewhere.

This is Skyrim on the Switch… how they didn’t I don’t know but that in itself is an accomplishment. You can now take one of the biggest RPGs on the go with you in one of the best looking games available on the console. The game does look
Watered down though meaning the visuals are nothing up to the Xbox and PS4 standard BUT! If you want the game for portability or you’ve never played it before then look no further this will be a great purchase for you.

Wow! What a game. I’d never played any of the Elder Scrolls games so was not completely sure what to expect from Skyrim other than seeing video clips of the game running & reviews I’d read. This is a huge RPG with a story so vast you can get lost in it. There is so much to do it can feel a bit daunting at first. You are given choices & options all the way through the game from the initial set-up of your character (The Dragonborn) to different warring sides you encounter in the villages & towns you visit. Your decisions & actions really do affect the game & how it plays out. You can certainly see where Zelda BOTW borrows a few of it’s ideas…….better still….you can borrow back by discovering Links Zelda BOTW gear! If you’re even slightly interested in RPG’s/Adventure games then you need to buy this. It’s crazy, ridiculous, addictive.

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersJust When I Thought I Was Out ...
In 2016 I put another hundred hours into Skyrim; that time the Special Edition on a capable PC. So the thought of going all the way back to Helgen again so soon only this time with inferior graphics made me apprehensive. Maybe I was finished with this game.

First impressions were mixed. Buildings look boxy at a distance, some textures look they’re painted onto simple polygons. The game is darker overall with no brightness slider, although you could argue that this forces you to use light sources as intended. Moreover (and this is a blessing in disguise) some objects, such as chest traps, are a lot more visible than usual due to the mismatch in the textures used. Yet it’s still a game that’s capable of breathtaking vistas and gorgeous graphics, even on a television, and because it’s been comprehensively matched to the Switch’s screen there are some moments that actually look improved. I found myself wandering more in the landscapes than ever before, become a sightseer once again in a game where the temptation of fast travel had become almost insurmountable.

The motion controls feel awkward: I didn’t even try with the melee/shield controls after a first try, but even the bow doesn’t have the smooth sensitivity of Breath Of The Wild. I quite like the additional challenge of use motion aiming on the bow, but it’s admittedly clumsy. On the other hand, the motion lockpicking is great fun and refreshes a mechanic that became very stale in the original game. It’s a great use of HD Rumble, which adds to the experience overall.

All the usual bugs seem to be present & correct and I’ve even had one crash bug. I’ve also experienced bugs on the sound but they are very fleeting and nothing to worry about. Frankly, there’s never been a version of Skyrim with no problems, so the Switch is probably as good as any version from that point of view.

So, with no real problems and what with the fact that it’s a port of a classic game, it would be easy to give Skyrim five stars right there. But when you add in a stable frame rate and acceptable loading times, I think that this port does more than just give us “Skyrim on a portable” … it actually gives us a very decent version of the game for the living room TV. Rather than just “ticking boxes” the port is a feature-complete version of the game capable of working its magic all over again. Certainly one of the top games for the system at the moment.

I have owned Skyrim on every consol since its release but always craved for a mobile version. The Switch version is simply amazing both through the Dock and via the handheld. I cannot complement this game enough. To be fair I bought the Switch just to play Skyrim on the move but I am now really hoping that the Switch will continue down the path of having AAA games available as this is simply amazing.

I am an Elder Scrolls fan, my favourite being Morrowind. Skyrim is a close second especially with dragons! Anyway, I bought Skyrim on PC when It was released and was given the special edition free as I had purchased the original game. Both are still heavily modded.

But to play Skyrim, vanilla, on the Switch. With all of its bugs…it’s divine! I hope that mod support will be added so I can download the bug fixes, but this game is superb. And on the Switch you can take it with you! My only issue is some things can be a tad small, as I play in handheld mode only, such as checking the claw pics in my inventory to replicate the pics on the wall. Still it’s Skyrim on the Switch! It’s fantastic! Come on Bethesda give us mod support (even if only limited) as we can squash the bugs that remain!

Finished Bleakfalls barrow quest last night (after several hours of restartitis) and getting used to the controls will take time. But I love it! Frame rate seems OK, but brightness in game cannot be changed and neither can I remove the grass! No ini file tweaking here. But I cannot have everything…I have never played Skyrim (or any ES game) with grass before as my PC ran smoother without it enabled. It really makes it beautiful!

I was sceptical that Skyrim would even play on a handheld but it does and quite well. The loading times are cut in half I have compared to my PS4 version. It looks awesome and comes complete with all DLC but no mods which personally I don’t care about. All we need now is a release of Oblivion and Fallout 3 maybe 4 but I think that maybe pushing it.

Just perfect having it on the Switch. I haven’t played skyrim for a few years now, and it’s just as much fun as it was went I first played it. The first scene when you leave the dungeon and exit into skyrim looks very rough graphics wise, but move past that scene and I have had no issues with it at all. It really looks great on the little screen. And hooked up to the TV does give it that boost in fidelity.

For a game of this scale to come to switch is incredible yes most of us have played Skyrim but it’s one of the best games of it’s generation for many good reasons . Hundreds of hours of epic rpg gameplay with all DLC. Graphics and frame rate are awesome. The ability to play handheld. Loadtimes are short. This is a game I have spent hours with and the switch version could be the best of all for handheld play alone . Incredible game must own for anyone with a switch . Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersFantastic Port of a fantastic game + Portable!
Although this is a 6 year old game that is available for all other consoles for much cheaper I beleive that this is the best version you can play. Although this is not advertised as the special edition for all comparitive purposes it may as well be. The graphics are much better than the Xbox 360 and the PS3 original and the load times are significantly improved. There is also the inclusion of all the DLC. In fact the only thing that is missing is the console mod support and who knows if that will come at some point. It also has a day one patch that unlocks the recently released ability to capture the last 30 seconds of gameplay. Although this is something available to other consoles it is a welcome start for the tiny Nintendo console. Due to how long this game has been out I won’t go much into the way it plays apart from to state that this is the full Skyrim experience from any other console. For me the main selling point here is that you can now, for the first time, play the console version of this stunning, immersive game anywhere you want. With a game like this being able to play anywhere truly is what makes it so great, whether you are on public transport or at a friends it doesn’t matter, you don’t have to even stop the game if your going to the toilet! If someone else is wanting to watch the TV again not a problem, pop it out into handheld mode with some headphones and you no longer have to listen to Coronation Street or Eastenders!

There is also added amiibo support to get the Link outfit from Zelda but I haven’t done this yet so can’t comment on this and there is added motion controls, which although fun and responsive are not for me so I use the traditional method although it is good that there are options.

Altogether I don’t see any negatives with this game at all other that it being the most expensive version, and I beleive that this is offset by the portability factor, also I think it will get a price drop reasonably soon into it’s lifetime. This is just another example of an excellent port to the Nintendo platform and proof that the Switch can handle 3rd party games with relative ease and little love from the developers.

I picked this up a day early from a local game retailer and spent a good 5 hours with it last night. I have played the original PS3 and own the PS4 version so bought this for one reason – portability.

Initial thoughts are really positive. It looks really great, sitting somewhere in between PS3 and PS4 versions in handheld. Framefate has been very solid and load times are a fraction of what they were on other versions.

For me Skyrim is one of if not the best Action RPG ever made. 6 years on from its release the scale, beauty and atmosphere that has gone into this world still amaze me. You have so much freedom to explore and I’ve lost entire evenings just wandering the landscape, discovering hidden caves and developing my character outside of the main quest. It remains one of the most open world experiences ever created and now it’s in your pocket.

Very impressive port of a legendary game.
