Great bin very smart but very sensitive you only have to go anywhere near the bin including pets the lid constantly opens and closes should have a button to reduce this only solution is to switch on and off

Purchased following a “best value” rating by Which. This bin is much cheaper than similar ones and I would say much better value. It’s a shame I couldn’t get it in the almond colour, but the alternative, silver, is smart and the size is exactly what I wanted. The touchless lid is a bonus and has kept my grandson & children entertained, never before have they been so keen to put rubbish in the bin. Long may it last!

Great, so you don’t have to touch the bin lid whenever you want to use it. Goes great in my kitchen. Will look even better when my kitchen has been fitted. White and copper like the bi

Easy good access. Lid stays open while sensor covered, so does not close early if scraping plates.
Only issue is sensor very sensitive and if near a walkway it kept opening when walking past. We just moved it elsewhere.
My daughter has had the same bin for quite some time now without issues, which is why I bought the same one.

I love it, wish I had bought it years ago! So much better than having one in the cupboard under the sink when people were in the way, and the noise of the bin lid clanking back on in the cupboard!! I highly recommend it.

We have that bin now for 2 years. Its a nightmare removing bin bags as they get stuck on the rough edges and most of the times your trash falls out. We tried all kind of bags. Size and wuality. Always the same. The concept is good. Works more or less good, but for that money you are allowed to have expectations. I dont recommend buying i

Excellent little trash can. Perfect for our small kitchen for 2 people.

Just don’t forget you own it and in the dark and n the middle of the night go to the kitchen and hear and weird noise and think there are ghosts…

Also there is a switch on the back and you can turn auto open off if you want to.

It’s a very easy to use device and would highly recommend for anyone who wants a independent bin that sits there.

There’s a few caveats blocking my 5 star rateability – it’s fractionally on the small side of a decent bin bag (so feel like I’m emptying it daily). The top of the bin gets dirty quite quickly and is a pain to clean

Overall its very sturdy, neat, reliable and would be a great addition to any kitchen though

Sturdy well made bin! Everyone comments on this bin! Not only is the copper & black beautiful, I love that I don’t have to touch it for it to open and close. Makes disposing rubbish much easier and cleaner, the inside is easy to keep clean as they added an internal removable ring for the rubbish bag to wrap round, keeping the bin bag hidden and improving hygiene standards, It’s a fabulous design. I absolutely loved it, worth every penny!

We are delighted with our bin. We’ve only had it a few months but honestly I had second thoughts about ordering this when I read all the bad reviews. I expect the sensor to go eventually but the bin seems to work normally without the sensor anyways so that won’t bother me so much. As a kitchen bin it serves its purpose and looks smart, for what it is though its a bit expensive and could cost a
fair amount in batteries esp if you have young children or like me, grandchildren who think its a real novelty!

Good hygiene though as if you keep it switched on, no need to touch lid with dirty hands

This bin worked for just over 6 months, then the lid started closing half way and stayed like that. The bin is difficult to keep clean because the sensor and lid is so fragile it could easily break. A shame really as it looks nice, but at 70 it is not worth it as it is too flimsy to last. Would not buy again. Beware it only has a one month return policy on it … I wonder why …

Love this product. Its big enough to fit a large bin bag and easy to clean. I have not changed the battery since buying it and still works fine. Its either it uses very low battery or the battery I bought is very good, whatever the case, it is still going strong.

The only downside I can say is it closes too quickly and u literally have to move your hand out of the way quickly. They should have had where the close speed can be adjusted to close a bit closer.

Have used this bin for over a year now and it is on its second set of batteries. I thought the bin was faulty after about 4 months but it just needed an new set of batteries. Two minor niggles, the sensor can activate when walking past. The metal bin container has been rolled inwards at the top, this can make emptying a little difficult if the bag is over filled. Easy to keep clean and as new and is a boon in a kitchen leaving hands free when using. Tips don’t be tempted to touch the lid and switch off when changing the bag.

Needing a larger kitchen bin we purchased this one. It looks very smart indeed with a metallic finish rose gold top. Powered by 4 AA batteries (not supplied) it works like a dream -opens as you pass your hand over it and closes itself after a few seconds. I particularly like the rubbish bag retention ring which ensures the bag is is hidden from view and prevents it from falling into the bin.
    Excellent value.

Very pleased with the bin. I do switch it off when not planning to use because each time I pass it the lid opens and the batteries ran out in less than a month. I have since bought rechargeable ones. Very hygienic particularly with small children as they can,t open it. It looks very tidy. I fold the edges of the bag back into the bin.

After reading the reviews for this I was a bit skeptical. But I ordered it anyway as I really wanted a rose gold bin to match with items in my kitchen. I have had it a month now and have no major issues with it. The sensor works perfectly although a little sensitive at times. The only fault I have with this bin is that, if the bin bag splits and leaks, the leakage comes out from the bottom of the bin so I’ve had to mop the floor a couple of times. 55 is a lot to spend on a bin in my opinion so you’d think it would be a bit more secure. But overall I’m happy with it. Think I just need to buy some better quality bin liners!

Was going to buy another banded bin (Brabantia) but found the prices too high, ultimately paying for the name. Ordered this one as it has an automatic contactless opening lid, appeared stylish and good value for money. Arrived well packaged, probably too well, however we’re delighted with it. Have been using it for over a week now and find the contactless opening sensor lid is really practical and hygienic which is great for reducing risks of cross contamination and means no greasy finger marks. Its easy to install the batteries for the auto lid, easy to put in a bin liner which you can tuck the top under the bag rim so no unsightly bag poking out and easy to empty and keep clean. Its stylish and modern (as far as a bin can be) and serves its purpose above expectation. We have it in our recently refurbished kitchen and it looks the part. Would recommend using the 60L Brabantia (or similar) type bin bags with it as they are easier to remove and be sure to register your purchase with Tower to extend the guarantee to 3 years. Would highly recommend!

great idea an electronic sensor lid just awave your hand over the lid and it raises , yes you could use a foot pedal type
which would be cheaper , but whats the fun in that , its just a neat design , and a great capacity , the lid opening is also almost 90 degrees which gives plenty of access to dispose of your rubbish , the only down side it does use batteries , i started using rechargeable ones as its easier , you will notice as the battery life deteriorates the lid will not fully open … also very nice design …The Aston Martin of bins

The sensor is brilliant. Best of all, the dog can not get into it (i can turn the sensor off if i need to) and there is no bulky pedal sticking out the bottom. I like it that much, i have ordered another one. Brilliant bin. Thank you very much.

I live with three autistic people who will not touch a bin or rubbish so having been sick of moving everyone’s rubbish all the time I decided to invest in this bin. It’s great the batteries that came with it are still working after two months . It drew their attention the minute it came and they used it loads . The novelty has worn off but they will still use it . I only gave four stars as it’s difficult to get the bin bags out when full . Suction and vacuum so strong bin bags required or they rip

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersA good bin, but far from perfect. We have three at home (trash, recycling, green recycling). We bought them during a huge promotion… but the regular price is way to high for what it is. Basically three pound’s worth of electronics added to a bin.

We also bought two at work (which is where I first saw them) and all five of them have been in operation for maybe a year now – so I think I’m in a good position to comment on the shortcomings of this particular design. Basically, I like these bins, but they do have some flaws:

    1) The lid does not fit very tightly on the bin. You would not think that this would be a big problem, however the underside of the lid has a big flat “shelf” around it which tends to be pressed upwards by the contents of the bag once it starts to get full. As many items will be partially crushed boxes or cartons yearning for their freedom there can easily be enough upwards force to pop off the lid (see No. 2)

    2) The lid flap is quite fragile. One of the bins at work has a lid flap that is now held together by duct tape as a result of No. 1. The opening gear (or, more accurately rack) on TWO of the bins at home have broken. Fortunately they were both within the warranty period and were replaced by the manufacturer.

    3) The battery compartment is prone to corrosion. In one of the units at work either moisture from the garbage or leakage from the batteries (I’m not sure which) has made the battery contacts unreliable .

So… you can make your own decision. I have no first-hand experience of other similar bins – so I don’t know whether they have similar drawbacks. Other manufacturers do make similar bins.

Tower customer service have, to be fair, been responsive and have replaced the broken bins.

Golden Review Award: 24 From Our UsersOk so it looks great… day 1 amazing!! Best bin in the world!! This was sadly short lived. Turns out it’s not very practical…. the lid isn’t open long enough to scrape a plate off so it closes onto your dirty plate, then you’ve got to wait for the sensor to reopen it… now with 4 sometimes 5 plates to scrape off plus pots etc you can imagine this gets a little frustrating. sometimes it’s fast to open sometimes not so fast it also within a day or so id say it started opening just half as wide as it should even with brand new batteries…. by day 5 It was far more frustrating to have the automatic lid than to not. so now it’s turned off and I open it myself by the corner of the lid. Quite easily. It’s quite a flimsy bin too it’s already got a big dent in the front and I have no idea how it’s happens just a few weeks old… changing the bag also seems like more hassle than with my previous bins. So if you have the patience of a saint and handle it with care perfect but for a family I’d say probably not.

Perfect for reducing the need to touch the lid to open but ultra sensitive to all movement nearby. Needs to be placed somewhere in the room where it is not likely to open unnecessarily. Not sure how long the batteries will last given that it opens and shuts at random on a frequent basis. Very heavy lid due to battery casing. Sometimes the lid has a tendency to dislodge if not replaced firmly.

I love this bin, it is easy to use, fits in the gap. The non-touch technology is great to prevent contamination whilst cooking. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the bin has a vertical line at the front where the metal comes together. This should have been at the back, as the picture suggests. However, it was half price, definitely worth it!

The lid mechanism I think is really good. Its smooth and quite.
The value for money tho isn’t really there tho. 60 was paid but looks and feels more towards the 40 mark.
Only real issue is that the bin lid is only just sitting on top of the bin. So you cant pick it up by the lid. Apart from that it’s a bin with a working electric lid, job done

Worth £40 not the £60, smooth and quite
