This is a great tool with which to hone your knives, chisels etc. The 300 side cuts very fast, and most likely you’ll rarely need to use it. The 100 is perfect for sharpening my kitchen knives and Leather cutting tools.

You do need to break this tool in – grab an old chisel or knife to get this required bit done. Use the honing oil only that is made for this. It too will last a long time; you don’t need much.

    Fantastic. Highly recommend

I use this diamond plate to reset the bevel on my place irons and chisels but I mainly bought it to flatten my ceramic glass stones and it does a great job at it for about a third of the cost on the Shapton flattening plate.

This thing is heavy, but in return you’ll get a surface that’ll stay flat for a very long time. When used with the company’s approved oil, it took very little force or time to put a fine shaving edge on a tomahawk. Ideal for around the house sharpening, but a bit big and heavy for carrying out in the field. The 300 and 1,000 grit seems about ideal for all my sharpening needs.

Would recommend, never tried the cheap diamond plates on offer but I believe you cannot go far wrong with a Trend product.
I suppose at the end of the day you get what you pay for in most cases

Fantastic product! Monocrystaline diamond electroplated in nickel. The only type of diamond stone you should buy. Takes FAR fewer strokes to build or replace a razor edge than with a whetstone. Will not have the worn down cavity in the “sweet spot” that a whetstone gets. Simply superior in all aspects. *MUST* use diamond stone lapping fluid. Only takes a few drops, but the molecular size of the fluid particles allow the diamonds to do their work. If you use any other type of oil, the particles will be too large and will fill the valleys between the diamonds (on the the 1000 grit side) eliminating their ability to do their job correctly and efficiently. I have used whetstones by hand for four decades…and will never go back. This is the last stone I will ever need to buy.

Very flat fast cutting diamond stone, however, do not use a lot pressure, especially when sharpening surfaces with a small footprint. I mistakenly sharpened something with a small footprint using alot of pressure and it appears to have worn through the surface locally, newbie mistake.

This is a great stone for beginners to pros. Unlike water stones where you have to level the stone before each use, there is no need with this one. Solid steel plate with nickel plating is almost perfectly flat. Use with some kind of honing solution or even glass cleaner, just be sure to dry it off after use and store in the pouch. I also tossed in a desiccant pouch to keep it dry and rust free.
Use can use it free handed or use a honing guide for chisels and hand planer blades. Excellent quality !!

I did a lot of reading before buying a diamond stone. First, I wanted something that was absolutely flat, and unlikely to warp, so the material had to be thick to withstand temperature changes, etc. I wanted something that used the correct bonding process, instead of weak adhesives. That meant spending real money on the stone. Trend were the cited brand from several trusted reviewers, and so I finally ponied up so I could properly sharpen knives, chisels, and planes. This was well worth the investment, and my chisels and planes have never been sharper – significantly sharper than using whetstones alone, much flatter edge, and with a leather strop to finish you will get a terrifically sharp tool when you are done.

I had my doubts but this has been the best solution I have found as the initial stage of sharpening. After trying many different options mostly cheaper solutions and being disappointed.. I’m a big fa

This is a very nice item and is a good weight I have only used it twice and time will tell how good that it is and how many years that it will last but seems to be a great product but a bit pricey.

I love this stone. After struggling with cheap whetstones I decided to opt for this one. There are plenty of YouTube videos on this stone and how to use it properly. It is lightning fast to use and gives a great result. I managed to sharpen 3 chisels, 4 kitchen knives and a couple of pocket knives in under an hour. Just a brilliant bit of kit.

I love Trends diamond sharpening plates. Bought this one to complete my sharpening setup. Use it on chisels, plane irons, knives, scrappers, and anything else I can think of. Fast sharpening plate, of good durable quality, and cuts evenly.

Absolutely awesome stone. Have used this for roughly 6 years now and have sharpened everything from knives to plane blades to chisels to axe heads. It has really stood the test of time….especially with the abuse i have inflicted on it. Mine does look a little rough from the unappreciated life it has had but still does a great job sharpening my tools and also flattening my ceramic glass stone. It is a little pricey but you def get what you pay for. Highly recommended!

My husband, for whom I ordered this tool, absolutely loves it. He saw several videos on sharpening tools and decided to get his own sharpening tool. After a few tries, he was very excited about his results. He really loves it and is so glad he got it.

The diamond Cuts well to reach the null edge. I then use water stones to 10000 grit to get a very sharp edge

Bought this to take the “swayback” out of sharpening stones. Held the stone underwater and applied the 300 grit side of the diamond lap. Done in about 3 minutes per stone.

Great value for anyone that uses hand tools. Use a quality lubricant each sharpening session. Arrives in a pouch inside a light weight cardboard box wrapped in bubble wrap. If taken care of this will be a one time purchase for the small shop.
