    Levigatrice fantastica

Ottimo prodotto, funziona veramente bene. Molto solida, funzione 45 gradi molto comodo. Soddisfatto.

Good machine. easy to setup. The only thing is that it only comes with 80grit paper for all sleeves and belt. Furthermore worth the money.

As a hobby woodworker I’ve been meaning to buy a belt and bobbin sander for the last couple of years and finally went for it. Great bit of kit and wish i had bought this tspst450 ages ago. Fast material removal with supplied belts. Nice quality finish with the extra 150 grit belt i bought separately. Good dust collection using my old hoover with a dust deputy cyclone and a 32mm pipe – using the bobbins i get nearly 100% dust collection, belt sander does leave a small quantity of dust behind but it still catches probably 90-95% of the dust. Seems well built but as i only bought it a few weeks ago (march 2023) i cant comment on longevity but seems well made.

    Cons
    – It would be helpful to have the ability to adjust the sanding speed for some fiddly small jobs eg reduce the speed for finer work.
    – Bobbins would be better if they were tight to the top of the spindle for sanding deep into holes that have a bottom (basically the nut sits about 10mm down from the top of the thread so the threaded rod bottoms out way before the sanding bobbin. Top of bobbin sits about 15mm below the top of the threaded spindle.
Overall very pleased with my purchase.

This is really helpful at tidying up saw cut marks before joining and finishing, really handy after bandsaw work. Changing out the belt sander part it’s been said by many that the top nut over tightens itself and it’s true for me also but just keep a spanner handy to remove it easily otherwise a great useful tool.

If you have a limited amount of space this sander may be your best option. It is light weight so it is easy to move about. The cabinet has slots for all of the accessories but it would have been nice to have an accessory case instead. I couldn’t find the duty cycle rating for the sander but I would assume that it is 20%. I don’t think it will bare up to heavy sanding for extended periods. Overall, I think it’s a fantastic tool for hobbyist and smaller workshops.

In hnlichen Gefilden.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersSolid little unit that performs way above it’s price.

There are some very good reviews here and there is little I can add. Make sure you buy some finer grit papers to use with it, though, the 80 grit is very coarse for a sander like this.

One thing to mention is the unit is pretty high and I made mini table to stand it on. The table I made is 50cm square and a height of 70cm. It didn’t have to be that wide but a few experiments showed it was wise for added stability. The table was made out of some cheap stud-work timber, so it only cost a few pounds, but built like a tank so it was nice and heavy and stable. I also screwed the Triton down with four 12ga screws. The 70cm height puts the works surface of the sander at 103cm, which I found just about right.

I eventually added a small draw under the table to keep all the extras in. Although the storage on the sander works well, it’s a bit of a nightmare vacuuming the sander without all the extras ending up on the floor or the inside of the vacuum cleaner!

The hose you see attached is just a Karcher.

The main switch failed about six months in, but one email to Triton and I just bought a new switch from an independent supplier. The switch arrived the next day. It was easier to do this than to return the sander to Triton.

I didn’t find dust a problem with the sander. Checking this out, it seems the taller the wood you sand, the less the vacuum collects, so its all about height of the workpiece. I usually sand wood that is at most a few inches thick so dust isn’t a problem.

My only minor complaint is that there is some vibration a the small diameter end of the belt sanding attachment.

All in all a very useful sander. The performance is great for the money.

Have only had this sander a few days so can’t speak for longevity but I am absolutely thrilled with it. I spent most of yesterday effortlessly shaping small components for a toy I’m building, and I shudder to think how long it would have taken without.

If you’ve already had a belt or spindle sander this won’t be news to you, but I’ve had neither (other than a cheap handheld one which I never use), but it really is the bees knees for effortlessly sanding profiles, sanding down to a line, sanding angles onto the edge of small pieces etc. – if you want to make little wooden objects, you need this tool!

Best things about it: Changing modality is really easy. Sometimes multifunction machines take a long time to change round, but it is really simple and easy.
Which brings me to the next point – there is moulded storage for every spindle, nut, bolt, washer etc! This is such a good design – no need to set aside a tub of “bits and bobs” which requires more storage space or gets misplaced. It is entirely self-contained; everything you need is stored on the body of the sander.

Finally, it is both light enough to move around a small workshop, but sturdy enough not to feel flimsy or flex in use.

Downsides? The manual is atrocious, so look it up on YouTube, plenty of good reviews that demonstrate the use.
The simple piece of spring steel that gives the table angle its positive stop makes selecting a custom angle close to a positive stop quite tricky (I.e. I wanted 12 but it kept clicking into 15 – just left it at that in the end!) but this could easily be removed if you were regularly going to want to sand at unusual angles.
The storage slots mentioned above are great, but I feel some recesses for some of the smallest components are not quite deep/tight enough. I nearly lost the smallest washer which had dropped out onto the floor when moving the sander, so I now put a strip of masking tape over the smaller pieces to keep them secure.

Overall, I could not be happier with this machine which I think is a perfect addition to a small workshop. I wish I’d bought one sooner, and even if it cops out the day after its generous 3 year guarantee, I will have had my money’s worth.

Golden Review Award: 52 From Our UsersI like this machine, a lot. I’m really glad that I decided to buy it. It isn’t perfect, but it is a great addition to my workshop.

The manual is bloody awful. Triton have saved money by printing it as an A5 booklet – which results in the type being so small that you need a magnifying glass to read it! Fortunately, the machine is pretty much intuitive.

I was able to read the bit that suggest that the machine should be bolted to the workbench. Absolute nonsense! This machine does not vibrate – I have it sat on a cutting mat on my bench and it doesn’t move. It is also relatively quiet – I think that my shop-vac makes more noise than this sander.

The first job that I gave it was removing the bandsaw marks from a bunch of toy cars that I am making for my grandchildren. It accomplished that very quickly – very much quicker than I could have done using sanding drums and flap-wheels on my pillar drill. It absolutely saved me hours of boring sanding and for that reason alone, I love it to bits! For the first time in my life, I actually enjoyed sanding!

I really liked being able to transition flat surfaces into smooth curves using the belt sander. I thought that I would be using the spindles more often than the belt but that wasn’t the case. The spindles are great for internal curves, but for external curves, the belt is the way to go.

When you look at the photo of the wooden toys (work in progress) you can’t help noticing that my bench is covered in dust. Dust extraction by vacuum when using the spindles is surprisingly good . But when using the belt, it isn’t. Which is why my bench is covered in dust. I have since fixed this problem by constructing a hood – by cutting a plastic storage box in half. The difference that the hood makes is remarkable, because most of the dust is thrown toward the back of the machine. The hood catches it, preventing it from being sprayed all around the workshop.

The next problem was that the fixed portion of the table and the moveable part wasn’t smooth. The two parts didn’t line up – there was a step.

This was easy to adjust. I simply loosened the hinge-bolts and nudged the table into its correct position. On inspection it was clear that my machine had been assembled by an apprentice – look at the brutality that has been inflicted on the poor hinge-bolt! That apprentice was clearly unaware that the two parts of the table need to be inline! But, hey-ho, this is a budget machine. If I had expected precision, I’d have paid a lot more money.

The machine is supplied with a set of 80-grit spindle tubes and one 80-grit band. These produce a surprisingly good finish for a coarse grit. But I knew that I would need more, and finer, abrasives than were supplied with the machine, so I ordered Triton bands and tubes in 150-grit.

The 150-grit tubes are fine and work as they should. The 150-grit bands, however, are terrible! Truly awful! How can Triton put their name to such an appalling product?

OK. I know that Triton don’t make abrasives, they buy abrasives. But their incoming quality control people need a succession of well-aimed kicks up the bum for accepting products as bad as this.

The seam that joins the band is lumpy and sets up a distressing knocking vibration that cannot be good for the machine and makes working unpleasant and difficult. I’ll be returning those Triton 150-grit bands as unfit for purpose. I have already ordered alternative (and finer grit) non-Triton belts from a specialist abrasives supplier.

    In conclusion:
    1. It works well and makes sanding (almost) a pleasure.
    2. Dust extraction (with a vacuum) is very good when using spindles, but not so good when using the belt-sander.
    3. A simply-constructed hood makes a big, really big, improvement to dust collection when using the belt-sander.
    4. Some minor adjustments may be required if your machine was, like mine, assembled by an apprentice.
    5. Don’t buy Triton-branded replacement sanding-belts.

Despite my whinges, I’m really pleased that I bought it this machine. Delighted, actually. And I would (whilst mentioning the above reservations) recommend it to anyone. Used carefully, precision sanding is easy to achieve – and that is a Very Good Thing.

I just wish that it wasn’t such a ghastly colour.

A very useful addition to the workshop.

Golden Review Award: 34 From Our UsersI like this machine, a lot.

You can purchase a separate 3” drum for this sander (when you buy packs of sleeves a 3” is usually included). Quick changeover between drums and belt sander. Excellent value.

Golden Review Award: 122 From Our UsersI have been working on a number of small projects in the garage lately. I have made a few Christmas decorations, some shelves and other larger projects such as a bird table. We recently had a fence replaced and I made use of the 4″ x 4″ posts that were removed, along with reclaimed wood that I had stored previously and off cuts from the new fencing to make it all. I had to cut the wood into strips on my table saw and bandsaw, so it needed a lot of sanding after being processed.

For years I have been using a bench mounted belt and disk sander, but I find it very difficult to sand smaller pieces on this and have managed to sand the end of my fingers a little on occasion! Not badly, but in the end I decided that I wanted to find a better solution that gave me more control. After a lot of research I decided to buy this Triton machine. The reason that I picked this one was because Triton have a good reputation, (If you look at reviews, their products are always well liked by the majority of buyers) and I also wanted a machine with a belt sander as well as spindle sander. With this set up you get the best of both worlds. A belt sander for straight edges and spindle sander for curves. The belt sander is great for smaller pieces and that is what I wanted it for. I have way more control with the belt vertical and the table horizontal. As for a spindle sander, I have wanted one of those for years! Please see the video for an in-depth look at it. Also, with a 3 year guarantee you can’t go wrong.

This machine feels well made; it comes with 5 spindle sanding sleeves, “, “, 1″, 1″ and 2″. There are only 4 rubber drums and this is because the ” sleeve fits directly onto the spindle without a rubber drum. The other Triton spindle sanders come with a 3″ drum. In fact, if you order Triton sanding sleeve sets you will get 6 because the 3″ is included. Now, the thicker end of the sanding belt is actually 3″ in diameter, so you can use that to some extent, but only on semi circles and a 3″ drum would be much more versatile on curves giving full 360 degree access. I decided to buy a Triton 3″ rubber drum assuming it would fit the spindle being a Triton spare. Sure enough it fits and I made my own insert to allow me to use the 2″ spindle safely. Making this was easy using the sander to fine tune the insert and make it fit. So now I have all of the available spindle sizes.

As far as sanding is concerned, it is great, very aggressive with the 80 grit sleeves and belt. Luckily the sander has a dust extraction port and my shop vac fits perfectly. Dust extraction is brilliant, you can see this on the video with hardly any dust being thrown out.

There is a space for everything on the sander base and if you are careful about replacing everything once you have finished with it, you will always have everything at hand. The motor is not too noisy, you can clearly hear the shop vac over the top of it in the video and the camera is much nearer the sander. I checked that everything was square to the table and it was spot on.

So, I love this machine. I notice that other manufacturers sell identical models and I do not know whether they are different in any way, but the three year guarantee clinched it for me. I am very happy with it and it is a brilliant addition to my workshop.

A spindle sander and a belt sander. The best of both worlds and it is safer to use - Brilliant!!

Golden Review Award: 28 From Our UsersWell I finally decided to pull the trigger on a bobbin (oscillating spindle) sander and with this model being a dual bobbin and belt sander it seemed to be the wise choice for both the money and also to save space in an already cramped workshop.

I hope that this machine has the same level of quality as Triton routers but given I have seen this identical machine shape for sale in various places or being used in Youtube videos in several colours and brand names I don’t know if it’s really a Triton product or just a generic machine with a Triton sticker but I suppose time will tell. On the plus side of this it comes with a three year warranty from Triton so that helps to give some peace of mind.

The machine arrived well packaged. Inside the box you of course get the machine but you also get one of each size sanding drums and one sanding belt…. to be honest given the price of the machine to only get one grit type of each smacked a little of penny pinching. There is also the various spindle holders (sorry don’t know the right word) and their insert plates to give zero clearance on the machine depending on what spindle size you would be using. Because of the penny pinching with the included belts / spindles and given this isn’t exactly a cheap machine I have deducted a star from what otherwise would have been a 5 star review.

The machine itself has a decent bit of weight to it to allow the machine to be used without jumping around the bench while not clamped or screwed down but not really what I would call heavy either so can easily be moved around the workshop as required. The machine is actually a really good design and has various holes and cut outs all around it for storage of all the parts so they don’t get lost…. although in my workshop it’s nearly guaranteed they will get lost in the first month! The table as you can see in the listing image is adjustable should you need to sand something at an angle. It’s very easy to change spindle sizes or to change to the belt mode and the change can easily be done in under a minute.

It runs very smoothly and given it’s only using 450w it has some considerable power to it and will easily throw a workpiece across the workshop if you are not paying attention but that was my fault and not the machines. It works very well and is easy to use immediately out of the box so no learning curve required for the novice. This is my third sanding machine after my 1″ belt and a large disc sander so I have brought them all together on their own workbench as a sanding station which is a real luxury to have as for years I had to make do with a cheap and nasty handheld belt sander turned upside down and held in a vice.

The sanding belts for this machine being 100mm x 610mm are the standard hand held sized belts so easily available to buy across the UK either on Amazon or from local hardware shops like Screwfix etc so you are not stuck having to buy a propitiatory sized belt at inflated prices. The spindle sanding drums also seem to be fairly standard across all types of these machines so like the belts they can easily be found online but probably not something you could get from the standard local hardware shop.

I take my reviews very seriously so once the honeymoon with this machine is over and I start to notice any problems I will most certainly edit this review to reflect that but so far so good and if you are reading this then everything is still good with the machine.
