Reliable and effective
I like the way this product stays active once the ‘on’ button is pressed – I don’t have to keep pressing like on some other brands – I find everything good – no complaints
New hoove
I love this hoover ! It’s light ,and it has two other settings which are for tougher jobs , the tools for the stairs and furniture which are good , for dog hair . Love it .
I’ve owned the predecessor to this for around 7-years and was very pleased by its performance, however it had a built in battery that couldn’t be replaced except by a qualified (and expensive) engineer and when the battery started to fail I looked for a replacement. After much deliberation I returned to the (British based) Vax brand and bought this upgraded version of what I already had, and am extremely pleased that I did. The Vax is very powerful – it actually lifts my rugs off the floor in its highest setting. It’s comes with an array of additional tools – the mini powered head is very useful for cleaning the stairs and tighter spots that the main head can’t get into. There is no loss of suction as it fills up and its really easy to empty too. If you have pets and/or children I recommend that you buy the version with two batteries as the single battery doesn’t quite have enough ooomph to do a 3-bedroom semi on maximum boost, but probably will do if you use a lower power setting. You could pay two or three times the price buying a (Singapore based) Dyson but why waste your money.
VAXTASTIC
Have used the Vax for years, it’s quite weighty at the handle end because of the battery, so might suit people with weak wrists. For the price it’s a really good machine
Suction with this is really good.
We bought this after seeing the TV adds. Works well on carpets and hard floors alike. Like the simplicity of ‘click in’ attachments. ie cobweb brush/crevice tools, and ease of emptying. Good value. One minor niggle? No small brush head to do stair carpet (dissapointing) but otherwise, good.
Really good and quiet which is exactly what I wanted
Picks up really well surprised how well this picked up is their ment to be lights on this because mine didn’t come on but I don’t want to send it back because its really good machine and it dosnt matter theirs no lights on it still does what it’s supposed to its so lightweight too I love how quite it is really easy yo use and put togethe
Generally it’s pretty good, but needs the boost enabled to really pick up stubborn dust and particles, especially in the car. However for ease of use and the ability so clean cobwebs in high corners, it’s very good. I’ve been using an old brush attachment from another hoover, which is better for scrubbing the carpet on the stairs – the brush included has very soft bristles and is a bit useless.
Excellent cordless vacuum cleane
Our previous cordless hoover was very poor, so I spent a lot of time researching what to replace it with. This model kept being recommended, and I can now see why. Excellent section, easy to empty and clean, and charge lasts a long time. Very well designed and built.
Perfection!
I have a little dog and I love him dearly, but am also an OCD clean freak.
I use this every night as a quick whizz over my hard floors and thin rugs (it can’t cope with any of my thicker fluffy rugs) just keep the dust and dog debris at bay.
I have a Henry that comes out once a week for a thorough clean though.
Very lightweight, I love the booster speed (which I always use) has enough juice to do my downstairs, which is what I wanted it for.
Battery charges quickly and holds it power well over the weekend and holidays when not used.
Overall I’m pleased with it as a top-up hoover. I don’t think it’s powerful enough as a main household one, and saves me from having to haul Henry round (he is wonderful but cumbersome to say the least).
Excellent cordless hoove
I purchased this to use at my Mothers and have been very pleased with the results. Light and easy to use, picks up most things for all different types of surfaces. Excellent.
Excellent suction!!!
I was sceptical but extremely surprised at how good this is.
Well worth buying, but do shop around as there’s such a big difference in pricing for the same product.
With such a mind boggling array of choices for cordless vacuum cleaners this one seemed to stand out from the crowd,WHICH? & Good housekeeping guide recommended
Easy to assemble from the box very easy to use ,the attachments are great for doing stairs plus my carpets have never looked so clean outstripping even the mains operated hoovers I’ve owned and worn out over the years
I also own two cats which at this time of the year are shedding their winter coats like there’s no tomorrow !!
But It picks up all of the ingrained fur without any problems
I like the fact it’s got a light on the front so you can see the dirt better especially on my carpets which are all dark coloured
I live in a small 3 bedroom semi so one battery is more than enough but if you are going to use it more intensely or you have a bigger house I’d definitely go for the option that has the two batteries and cheaper than buying one separately
The extra suction button is very powerful and the hoover stick to the floor literally it picks up even stray cat litter
But it gobbles up the power quite quickly
All in all I’m over the moon with this vacuum cleaner its made hoovering much more of a joy than a chore for sure
Hoove
Great little hoover for picking up bits that have been dropped by the grandchildren, but it does get a lot of hair tangled round the brush so you have to remove it every time you use it to empty ou
Great vacumn shame let down by registration of 3 year warrantee.I failed gave up a complicated procedure.
Completed form online for to register but it wants a photo of receipt I now have to use laptop to print a receipt and then use tablet to take picture ,then upload to vax a pain so have not bothered. Also a prize should be given for serial number in very small text and a super long number gigantic etc Iam 64 years and do have computer literacy of a 25 year old who would have studied computer science at school. END OF STORY
Legacy have since registered successfully
The blade is really good to use has plenty of power and if on the boost takes so much more up and my carpets look different now . The only drawback is the 45 mins runtime just no chance of achieving that. Full charge with boost 5 mins max but with just brush 10.15 mins max totally disgusted .their claim for 45 min . Would be 5 stars plus if they were honest about the battery.
Initial impressions – seems powerful and easy to use. Not an amazing mounting mechanism but works fine… Would be better with a place to hang the slinky hose and possibly a screw keyhole hanger on the back of the battery charger – I used a couple strips of double sided foam with good adhesive to adhere to the fridge.
Turbo mode seems to be so powerful that it holds onto hard flooring like it’s life depends on it… Which is good because I’d prefer to use less battery and stay away from turbo mode.
Carpet with turbo and the powered roller feels like it is about to take piles out of the carpet. My old Gtech AirRam K9 obviously didn’t touch the depths of the carpet that the Blade 4 Pet and Car does as I had vacuumed one room and ended up with a satisfyingly gross amount of dust and hair (see pic). As embarrassed as I am to show the photo, I think it needed to be shown just to let it speak for the blade 4.
Too early to tell with the battery life but as with all battery powered vacuums… You will never get what you want (it to last forever). Maybe only what you expect from Li-Ion.
Would recommend. Not a bad price for what it picked up…
Does the job well.
The only criticism is that it is rather heavy compared with my Dyson.
It is a good machine & good value for money.
Best Cordless portable vacuum.
Arrived as promised. All the pieces fit well. Suction us strong and it really is the best carpet vacuum. The dust catcher fills up with one house vacuum. Battery lasts long enough to vacuum 3 bedrooms, lounge, dining room, kitchen and bathroom Including entrance hall and stairs. The dust doesn’t fall out of the catcher. You have to pull it out which is a messy exercise. I find it easier to pull it to pieces and clean out after every vacuum. 1 month and still going strong. Very impressed.
Great value vac.
I originally bought a much cheaper cordless vac that turned out to be junk. I then did the right thing and bought a good one and this Vax model is very good and lightweight. It’s that good my wife lets me use i
Perfect produc
like the picture and video. Solid , efficient … I’m happy with Brand
Lightweight but powerful
Lightweight but powerful suction. Good price. Excellent suction for pet hairs
Wow I mean wow
When I turn it on all the other cordless vacuums, no good at all
But then I realised speed setting and carpet brush i I’m amazed how good it is, thanks vax
Superb product. Easy to use and very powerful – needs to be supplied with 2 batteries, that would earn the extra star!
A Good alternative
I had a Dyson for a number of years. When it was time to replace I decided to go with a VAX. I was not disappointed, good suction, good quality and Battary. Also comes with a good range of tools.
I would recommend this product.
Lightweight and easy to use and move about the house. Excellent on stairs. Only problem I find is that the battery does not last very long
Hoover it’s self is great unfortunately the battery doesn’t last longer than 10 minutes when using extra suction which is pain
But great hoover especially with 2 dogs and 3 kids, definitely recommend and out does my Dyso
Good on stairs, small motorised head is good for chairs, settee etc. Would have liked second battery or chance to buy at reasonable price. Price of 80 is stuipid.
Was dubious about this product , however having a malting Labrador I gave it ago! Very easy to put together, small compact box! First use with the light on was shocking! I had only vacuumed the evening before yet the light highlighted the amount of dog hair all over the floor. Suction power is incredible, and that’s only on the first setting! Would def recommend
Easy to use
Not the most powerful vacuum and struggles a bit with thick dog hair but at the same time I love it, it’s light weight and hassle free, I use it way more then I used to use my Henry hoover.
I am kind of vacuum obsessed. I have several robot vacuums and owned a dyson animal for years. After extensive research to find the balance between, battery, good for pets and dust, attachments, weight etc i settled on this. To make it easy i will break it down, i am comparing it against my dyson as that’s what it was replacing;
Pros;
Battery life- Much longer then dyson, it does a 5 bed house and not even half battery is done.
Suction power – Way more powerful than my dyson, it really doesnt leave anything behind.
Has LED lights on main floor attachments, makes it very easy to see dirty spots.
Cost – Way better value for money.
Good capacity, slightly larger than my dyson.
Diffrent power settings, easy to use.
Multple attachments.
Great for pet haair (i have a dog)
Cons;
Slightly heavier than dyson (battery size has part to play)
Not as easy to empty as other cordless.
Not a fan of the smaller brush with motor, they have made it bend so not easy for stairs.
Other than that, very happy.
Bought this a week ago and am pleased with it. Has more suction than any one I have had before including a DYSON even on the default power setting and the motorised roller really works on carpets. Only use it for short periods and the battery lasts a reasonable time before you have to recharge. Once used to it the detachable dustbin is easy to use and better than having to hold the whole machine over the refuse bin. Drawbacks – the battery has to be removed to charge and cannot just be left on and the machine is much heavier than other comparable ones and thus a bit cumbersome.
Great for small homes
Great little light weight hoover. Im a cat owner in a small flat. The hoover does great for what I need it for but on full power (which you need with animal hair), the battery usage is about 10-15 mins only. Lasts a bit longer on basic hoover mode and it’s easy to clean out. If you have a bigger home I’d advise you that you’d only be able to do a few rooms at a time between having to charge it up again.
Great for a quick clea
I bought tis as my wife is struggling with the old heavy upright we have – even though I do most of the vacuuming. Great for any little accident such as an ashtray being dropped on the floor. Quite good for a thorough cleaning job. Very handy without any cords. Efficient. A little heavy/clumsy on stairs as it is quite heavy even though it is described as a light weight.
Brilliant!!
Not one to usually write reviews but I am so impressed with this vacuum I felt it’s worth writing one. After purchasing several models of similar dyson models at a much more expensive price I decided to give this a chance. Glad I did, not only have I saved money but the vacuum does a much better job than the dyson. Would highly recommend
Brilliant vacuum
Little bit tricky to put together, but once the battery was fully charged, my god!! I never realised that my previous hoover (which was also a Vax) never picked up everything. I have a long haired cat, and the power brush mode, picked up every single hair. My rug looks brand new now. Very happy
Brilliant!!!!
It is fantastic! Sucks up even the deepest and tiniest particles of dust, rotating brush or the dirt container doesn’t clog with hair ( we have Persian cats so this machine is a life saviour as all other vacuums clog and break!). It is a bit heavy for my arm ( I have had shoulder rotator injury few weeks ago) but I really don’t mind a bit of a workout :)))
I love the light at the end of the main brush which helps cleaning under the furniture etc, also all little attachments it comes with are super handy!!! It sucks up so brilliantly thst dirt has no chances in the smallest of crevices, beautifully cleans skirting boards etc

A 'must have' for the home
This Vax Pet Blade is excellent. Having three medium sized dogs, you can imagine the amount of hair that is distributed around the home. With the brush-less motor and great suction, it does a great job of cleaning up. Being cordless too, it’s so handy to just lift from it’s cloakroom storage station when required. It actually works so well, that you need to empty and clean the machine quite often, which is not a complaint. I can see now why it received a ‘best buy’ award. Highly recommended to anyone considering a purchase. You won’t be disappointed.
Very good cleane
I have been using a Shark cordless vacuum cleaner for some time but, whilst it is a very well made machine, it hasn’t been cleaning my carpets well. I have 2 cats and the fur they shed was not coming up reliably. The Shark was moving it around and leaving it in lines. Some fur would adamantly remain on my carpet and rug.
Happily this Vax machine is one of the best cleaners of carpets I have ever used. It leaves my carpets (which are short pile) completely free of pet hairs and does not leave lines of fur when lifted. My carpets have not looked cleaner for a long time. This is appropriate considering the Vax is described as a pet vacuum cleaner. The main powered attachment does not have anti hair wrap technology or other rollers, being quite basic, but it is very effective and its smaller size makes it easily manoeuvrable. The transparent lid enables you to see if anything is caught round the rollers and the LEDs lighting up what you’re cleaning are a bonus.
The machine comes with all the tools you’d expect, including a powered pet hair brush which is gentle enough to use on upholstery.
To use the machine, there’s a button to start the motor then another one to start the brush spinning. This is all much more intuitive than it sounds and you’ll know you’re in the right mode when the LEDs light up the carpet. There is also a ‘high power’ button if you need it, which can be used with powered or unpowered attachments.
Battery level is shown on the handle of the machine so you can easily see how you are getting on.
Delighted as I am with its cleaning ability, I can only recommend this machine subject to the following negative points (which are made by reference to my Shark as an example of a well-made machine):
1. The weight of the motor unit with battery is about 2.8kg. By comparison, my Shark is about 1.8kg. This makes a big difference for using the machine and is unfortunate. Do bear this in mind if you have difficulty moving heavy objects.
2. The noise made is significantly greater than that made by the Shark.
3. The dust collector cylinder (which is mounted sideways for reasons unknown) has a narrow gap between the air outlet holes and the casing. This makes it difficult to dislodge the dust and hair that inevitably gets stuck; I am in search of a suitable tool for doing this. The Shark has a much narrower air outlet which is a breeze (no pun intended) to clear off with your hand.
4. The connectors on the hoses are the wrong way round. This is hard to explain but I find the release mechanisms hard to operate as they are configured. You seem to need to release with one hand and remove with the other. I don’t have this problem with the Shark.
5. Whilst the Shark can be stood upright when not in use by folding the pipe in half, the Vax needs to be held upright in a wall bracket, or laid on the floor. It will not stand up on its own. This might be an issue for people in rented property, for example.
Overall, whilst there are some minor drawbacks, if you want to shift pet hairs, I don’t think you’ll find a better machine.
This version comes with one battery. There is a version with 2, suitable for larger houses.
Love this Vaccum cleaner. Shame about the battery time
Always wanted a Dyson but as they are very expensive, I thought I’d try some cheaper versions.
I bought a Prosenic which was ok but the battery only lasted 10mns. I returned it and researched a new one.
I purchased this one and I am very, very happy. Seeing the amount of dust it picks up everytime I use it and how clean my carpet afterwards. I am pleased.
The suction is powerful and the motorised brush is making a huge difference so I have it on when I use it on the carpet.
The only issue is the battery.. It doesn’t last 45mns for me. I would say 20mns top which isn’t enough to hoover the entire fla
Brilliant for Pet Hair etc
Great little hoover for small jobs. I have four cats and it made short work of hairs caught in rugs and also for my hard floors.
Drum is small and requires a few trips to empty BUT well worth it for the great results.
It is light and easy to handle.
Great cleane
Was a little unsure how this would perform after having used Dyson uprights for a number of years. Have to say i’ve not been disappointed by this Vax. It is so much lighter and easier to use than a normal upright, with virtually the same level of suction, it cleans perfectly.
Battery has just enough power to run on full suction through a large 3 bed house. Will look at getting a 2nd battery sometime, but at nearly 80, will wait until the price hopefully drops.
Easy to use and hold. Great suction.
This is a great vacuum. Purchased for upstairs and it’s lightweight, easy to empty and the suction rivals my corded uprights of a well known brand. I actually prefer to use this one over my downstairs one.
Best vacuum cleaner we've ever had
We bought this Vax to keep upstairs so as not to have to carry our Dyson up and down the stairs.
When it arrived we vacuumed the downstairs first with our Dyson, then to see if it was any better immediately went over the same area with the Vax. We were amazed how much it picked up. Since then the Dyson has been confined to the cupboard and only the Vax gets used.
Game change
The suction power on this is amazing and the attachment for the stairs make it easier to clean. Having a separate battery charging port makes it so much easier to store it.
The only downside is the noise it make apart from that a very happy custome
Superb suction better than other makes.
The suction and cleaning of floors is excellent. There are a couple of things to note. Most people move a vacuum cleaner backwards and forwards. It’s important to note that with cordless models if the brush bar is rotating you cannot do this without lifting the head off the carpet slightly. The reason being the protection device will trip out as it thinks the bar has jammed. This isn’t a fault, but it’s not something I was used to and is something to be aware of . Also, because it is so good at sucking up the dust and hairs the collection bin has to be emptied regularly and initially very quickly.
Run time isn’t huge, but then it’s so easy to use a quick regular run over is all that’s needed. I have to admit I am pleasantly surprised by the quality and effectiveness of this little vacuum and have no reservations in recommending it, in my opinion in preference to the Dyson or any of the others.
Brilliant vacuum for pets
So glad we finally decided to buy a ‘proper’ vacuum. The fact that it’s cordless is great but what’s amazing about this vacuum is the turbo and brush roll settings – the amount of hairs and dust that came up from our carpets was quite shocking! Great to move about and easily gets under hard to reach places. We enjoy doing the hoovering now!
Love it!
Having purchased and used several cordless vacuum cleaners this is by far the best. Much better than the Air ram, lighter and cheaper than the dyson, and there are others that I have tried. I am absolutely delighted with it!
Great produc
I am extremely pleased with this purchase. The suction power is excellent, the battery lasts long enough the maneuverability is great and I highly recommend it. The only downsize (though not for me) could be the weight which is I presume is with any cordless vacuum cleaner on the same range of prices (Few grams less or more won’t make any difference, I guess).
Basically, the shortlist was Vax blad4, Dyson v7/v8 and Shark IZ300uk.
Based on research Vax is more powerful than Shark, and more suitable for my needs.
I didn’t choose Dyson because the model v7/v8 wasn’t on sale on Black Friday and the charging is via docking which means the vacuum cleaner has to stay where the docking/socket is located. With Vax, I can have the battery detached and charging on the kitchen counter while the vacuum is stored away.
Overall I am super happy and I highly recommend it.
Very powerful
This Vax ONEPWR Blade 4 Pet replaces my original Vax Blade from about four years ago – it still works but is minus one wheel and will now be used for DIY projects. The general and look design, usage and handling of the Blade4 hasn’t changed but the increase in power certainly has made an amazing difference! The separate battery charger is also a great idea as is the addition of the ‘powered’ pet hair head tool. I am pleased that the tools (brush and nozzle accessories) also have exactly the same fitting as the original model and are therefore interchangeable, this, I believe, is a generous design feature by the people at Vax.
Affordable with a decent performance
This is an affordable vacuum cleaner which does give a decent performance. It comes with 3 attachments and has some good features such as a 45 minute battery life; LED floor head so you can light up where you are cleaning; wall mount attachment; removable battery for charging and of course bagless.
It has 2 power modes. I find the booster mode is a bit too strong for my carpets so I tend to keep it on regular. I have 2 dogs and it is good for picking up dog hairs and smaller debris.
It should be remembered that this is a mid range vacuum and so for the money I think it’s quite good.

Great cordless cleane
I’ve been using the Dyson cleaner for as long as I can remember. Right now I have the V6 animal which, whilst lightweight & versatile has given me a series of problems ever since I’ve had it, so I was delighted to have the opportunity to try this VAX cordless vacuum cleaner.
Straight out of the box you do seem to get a lot for your money with the various attachments tools and of course the vacuum itself. It took a little while for me to get used to it; the cylinder feels slightly strange as it is at right angles to my current model, and it is a lot heavier so it feels slightly top-heavy as the main bulk of the cleaner is at the top near your hand, but I must stress that these aren’t issues it is just different to what I’m currently used to.
Once assembled it handles pretty much it expects a vacuum cleaner to handle with a few subtle differences. First of all the battery rather than the Dyson when you hang the entire unit on the wall you take the battery out and charge it independently. at first I wasn’t sure if I liked this, but it does give you the option to to have a second battery on charge whilst using the vacuum itself. What I do like is the battery has a power indicator (4 little lights) so you have a good idea when it’s nearly depleted. Then rather have a trigger you have a button with three settings: setting 1 is on, setting 2 switchs the brush head on (because if you’re cleaning say laminate flooring, you don’t always want the brushes on) and level 3 is the boost or max power. I must admit I tend to leave mine on level 3 all the time, after all, why would you want a vacuum on anything other than the strongest setting? My kids keep telling me this is daft and no wonder I don’t get more than 20 minutes out of it, but I can’t get my head around having a vacuum and turning the suction level down? But I have to admit that on this performance is still impressive on the standard setting.
I find the little dust chamber does fill up quite quickly, however it does seem a little easier to empty than my Dyson. (It’s still a dusty, mucky procedure however)
It’s worth noting that this version is the one for the car, which includes a long nozzle. I do like this feature because compared to my Dyson which involved having to put the crevice tool on the end of the long stick (or removing the long stick and putting the crevice tool directly into the Cleaner) this is basically a long hose which goes into the main unit which you can then leave sat on one of your car seats while you go around the car with the hose. A LOT easier than the Dyson.
I realise a lot of comparisons in this review between the banks and the Dyson and I make no apologies for that, after all. Dyson is a well established brand and a market leader and I would go so far as to say the majority of households have a Dyson. So the main question has to be; s this better than the Dyson? yes!
Not quite replacing my conventional vacuum cleaner.
This is great for a quick whip round and for less used rooms. It handles dog hairs pretty well, but I still prefer to go round with my conventional vacuum cleaner on heavily used areas each week (mainly the living room).
Absolutely love the convenience of not being tied to an electric socket, and not having dust bags to dispose of.
Normal use on floors is fine but I do find it a bit heavy on the wrist when cleaning the stairs or my car (which also fills up with dog hairs surprisingly quickly).
Light weight, powerful and easy to clean. I have finished my home in 15 to 20 mins. mins.
I had a corded cylinder hoover from Argos which had bad suction on carpets. Vax is Light weight, powerful suction and easy to clean. I have finished my home in 15 to 20 mins. mins.
Great value
This is my first cordless vacuum that I’ve bought. Choosing one with just reviews to go by is hard. But I’m so pleased with this one.
It has two settings one that auto turns the brushes and a power boost. I find the auto good for my carpet and hard floors and I use the normal setting for my rugs and lino.
I’ve used the boost a couple of times which I use for tougher areas.
I hoover once a week and when I first went round the flat with this, I filled the container twice!
I find the suction really good for a cordless, it is annoying that it doesn’t stand up right on its own but I’ve got the wall mount for storage and I just rest it on something when I’m moving things around mind clean.
All in all I’m happy with my purchase and I would reccomend
Good little vacuum
Took a bit of getting used to first time using it as it’s so light and swings in every direction ,but Good suction and cleans well and easy to clean could do with two batteries though as to me doesn’t seem to last long.
Decent vacuum cleane
The big plus is portability. It does the job on hard floors and carpets. It’s good at approaching walls and cupboards from an angle. I have to spend too much time cleaning out the brush head and untangling things in it.
Absolutely LOVE this
This could not have come at a better time as our previous vacuum cleaner packed up and I have been brushing the carpets for weeks. So being offered this to review was very welcome!
So to specifics….this is a wonderful vacuum cleaner which does exactly as it promises.
The cleaner came well packed, and all the components click in to place for easy assembly.
The battery was virtually fully charged but we did top it up prior to first use. Battery life is fabulous, I just top it up around twice a week.
The suction is fabulous and you can adjust it for your particular carpet or flooring, the brush rolling action can be switched on or off depending upon whether you are vacuuming a carpet or a hard floor.
The dust container lifts off for connection to the turbo brush for stairs of car, like the whole vacuum cleaner itself this is very light.
The dust container does fill quickly and I empty it after virtually every use but this is a simple job, just pull the lever and the bottom opens up so that it can be emptied out.
Be5ween uses I store this under my stairs and there is an included part which can be secured to the wall do the vacuum cleaner can be spotted in with any extra parts between use.
All in all absolutely excellent , can see this getting lots of use and hopefully for more years than my shark vacuum cleaner gave me.
Definitely 5/5
Shocked at how dirty my carpet was
I have to say I actually love this Vax I knew my old vacuum wasn’t working that well but when I vacuumed my bedroom I was so shocked and disgusted with what I got up off the carpet that wasn’t visible to the naked eye I realised just how well this Vax was working. We have a dog who shed loads of fur and a bird who is constantly chucking seeds out and this deals with it all so easily. The stairs I used the smaller attachment but this wasn’t as easy as I expected it could be just where I wasn’t used to using a mini roller to do them so I’m going to keep trying but over all I have to say I’m very impressed with this price wise it’s good value for money definitely, it does a really good job and it’s small enough to hide in a corner out of the way if you don’t have much space.
Vax Blade 4 Pet & Car Cordless Vacuum Cleaner with Motorised Pet Tool
This is a well packed item, with all the usual tool attachments, a Pet Tool (Mini motorised head), Crevice tool and a dusting brush. I found this vax to be heavy and unbalanced. There is a bracket to attach to the wall for holding the vac. I don’t want to make holes in my wall and therefore the vax is difficult to store, being very top heavy. The collection box for the dust and hair is tiny, it’s no time till your running out to the bucket to empty it again. I don’t consider my house to be unusually dusty either. The pet hair motorised tool is great and cleans my car and stairs with ease and picks up all my granddaughters dog hair once they have travelled in my car.. The battery holds a good charge around 45 minutes runtime. A second battery would make life easier if your doing house and car. There is a battery charge indicator on the vax ,which allows you to see how much charge is left. The Vax has three buttons on the handle, an on/off switch, a button to start the brush rotating and the last button is to boost the suction power. I have found the boost button has great suction. All in all this is a great little Vax. It does what it’s built for and looks good, therefore it’s 4 stars from me folks.
Love the produc
I purchased this as I had problems with my other vacuum which I purchased from another manufacturer. Apart from needing a new vacuum, I was wanting something that dealt with pet hairs (in my case my cat)
I have three short haired rugs in my front room which I thought were somewhat clean. I only used this vacuum for the first time & was so shocked at the amount of cat hair that was hidden in my front room rugs.
I have to be honest & say the Vax One Blade 4 Pet vacuum is the most impressive system I have purchased. It is amazing. I cannot say what the stair attachment is like, as don’t have any stairs, but can’t wait to use this attachment on my car upholstery.
Another highlight of this vacuum is being able to wash the filter unit, rather than having to shop around for replacement filters. The hand held unit is easy to use, but I found the battery slightly heavier than expected; having said that, I would recommend this vacuum to anybody that has pets in their home (or just messy children) Highly impressive.
Powerful suction, option for spare battery to increase running time
The Vax Blade 4 Pet & Car Cordless Vacuum Cleaner looks smart and feels like a solid bit of equipment.
The package includes a ONEPWR charger, 4.0Ah detachable battery, wall mount, different attachments, including a mini motorised pet tool, flexible powered hose, onboard crevice tool with caddy, soft bristle dusting brush and a user-friendly manual.
I found the cordless vacuum relatively easy to manoeuvre around my home and car. It’s a bit heavier than my Dyson V8 absolute however still easy to whip out to do a quick vacuum.
All the function buttons are placed on top of the machine and are also very easy to see. There is an on/off switch, start brush head rotating and boosting suction power. The battery display, which has four countdown markers, is handy, showing the remaining power left.
The vacuum does a good job of picking up all sorts of dirt and debris from different types of flooring. It does a great job in furnished rooms are areas in my home that are tricky spots to get to. Switching between the various attachments is simple and easy to do. It is easy to alter to a handheld, and I like the flexible powered hose, it comes in handy when cleaning my car.
I use the standard power mode to clean upstairs, three bedrooms and landing area all carpet the vacuum just about lasts. I use the higher setting on our hard floors downstairs kitchen, living room, and the dining room can do all if I’m quick. Our three toilets/bathrooms I do on a separate cleaning cycle. If I need to do a more thorough clean, the hoover on the highest power usually covers a couple of rooms. I love the light on the front, which allows you to see what you are picking up clearly in poorly lit areas.
It has a clear dirt drum to see how full it is. The drum fills up quickly and often needs emptying, especially when it’s on the highest setting and cleaning the carpet. I found it very easy to detach the dirt drum.
The battery life is good, it charges very quickly with a runtime of up to 42 mins, which I found on low suction. Higher suction up to 20mins. As the battery is quick releasing, I will most definitely buy another spare battery to increase the runtime further.
Overall it is a neat cordless vacuum. The highest setting has fantastic suction the fact that I can buy another battery and have as back means I can make the most out of this setting. There is also a car cleaning accessory kit sold separately, which I will be looking to buy.
Light, makes doing the vacuuming less faff, consider buying 2nd battery for larger floor spaces.
This cordless vacuum cleaner replaces our upright so I was somewhat sceptical that the cleaning power would be as strong. Performance however is very good, not quite the suction of the upright but it is still good, and the lightness and nimbleness of the Vax makes it much better overall.
The build quality does feel a bit cheap as it’s so light, but nothing has gone wrong yet, so hopefully, we will continue to have no issues, plus it comes with a warranty.
The light on the front of the vacuum is actually very useful for seeing what you are doing in dark corners.
The battery pack is easy to clip off and charge, on full power however it only lasts 25 mins or so, if you have a lot of floor to clean I would buy a second battery pack to get double the cleaning time. On lower power, it lasts much longer but is only useful for a quicker clean rather than a full deep clean.
The canister where the dirt is stored fills up quite quickly, however, it’s very simple and quick to click off and empty.
This version came with the pet and car attachments, they are quick to clip on. The pet attachment is handy if like me you are living with someone with long hair that gets everywhere! It also works for vacuuming the car and stairs as well.
Overall we are really pleased, it does everything required, was easy to assemble, light and useable which makes doing the vacuuming less of a faff.
Amazing Hoove
For the size I wasn’t expecting much. I was so wrong it works brilliantly and being disabled a light hoover that works this well is a gods send. I was amazed at how light it is. I put the suction on max which is what I have had to do with other hoovers on my carpet, however it was too powerful so I had to reduce it down. Its absolutely brilliant and worth every penny. I can now hoover pain free (mostly) wish I’d got one sooner.

Very good quality and suction .
Lovely to try this cordless vacuum cleaner as I had the previous model and was very pleased with him the only thing is that with the previous one the end with the brush get broke so be carefull when hovering if u have any fluffy carpets or wires on the floor or corners from the rugs the brush will get stuck and spin off and this is how are old one stop working , however more than happy to have a new one a new improved version . Comes in a big and heavy enough cardboard box and requires assembly but nothing to hard just need to clip the pieces together. The battery charging very quick but unfortunately not long life when hovering especially when using full power and light on not enough for the entire house ( and I have a small house ):) Lots of accessories for different purposes , very good for around the corners and stairs as it’s easy to maneuver around the edges. Very god suction with the hair ( don’t have a pet but have a wife and daughter with long and curly hair ) 🙂 and that says everything:) Just make sure the battery is fully charged before starting hovering and also always remember to clean it after and empty the dust container as gets full really quick .Really please with this vacuum cleaner.
Powerful Suction, Sturdy Construction and Easy to Assemble and Use - Slightly Heavy
We purchased this to replace a tiring Dyson V6 animal that we have had for 4-5 years and is showing signs of age and not picking up as well as it used to.
We have a corded Vax cleaner which is excellent so the cordless Vax models were top of the list. We did consider another Dyson but we felt they were overpriced when comparing to the Vax models we’re also planning to get a dog in the new year so the pet version was a good option too.
So, the Blade4, we went for the single battery model on offer at 179.99, we purchased it from Argos as we wanted to be able to collect it rather than have a delivery and with my Argos card I can pay it off over 6 months interest free.
The cleaner comes in a well packaged bundle, easy to open and assemble without the need for any instructions.
The wall mount bracket is handy and stores all but the stair brush attachment.
The battery charged in a little over 2 hours but it is a weighty item and does add to the weight of the cleaner.
Performance is very good, it is powerful and not too noisy, the LED light on the motorised brush is very handy for those darker corners and the onboard power indicator and on/off switch is easy to read and access.
I found that using it to clean floors is comfortable and easy, the brush is easy to move around objects and furniture and it cleans very efficiently moving between carpeted and hard floors with ease.
Using the cleaner with the crevice tool or brush attachment is still easy enough but it does expose the weight of the cleaner itself, not enough to make it difficult to use but certainly enough to make your wrist feel the weight.
The dust collection bin holds a decent amount but will need frequent emptying. The process to empty it is very straight forward with a lid at one end with a quick release catch and if you get any dust or fluff trapped around the filter end you can removed the entire filter section from the top to get it thoroughly cleaned and empty.
The battery holds a good charge and it lasted long enough to do the entire house twice and clean the sofas and even then it still had 2 bars on the battery level display.
The Blade 4 is an excellent choice for us and will suit our needs perfectly, thinking back to when our Dyson was new I’d say the Blade 4 is superior in design, looks and performance and price.
The dual model option Vax offer is just the same model and spec with an extra battery so consider if you want to spend another 50 just to get a second battery.
Also consider ordering direct from Vax to take advantage of their free tools offer, something I wish I’d done now.
I’d say it isn’t suitable for anyone with conditions that make handling such items difficult. We’d considered buying one for my mother in law who has arthritis in her hand and wrist but it would be too heavy for her to hold it.
All in all I’d recommend this cleaner, it offers great value for money and is very good. We’re happy with it and glad we chose to buy one.
Excellent cordless vacuum cleane
We have had this vacuum cleaner for a short time but have given the whole house a good clean, top to bottom (Floors, stairs, under the furniture, in the cupboards, the corners where the spider-like to live etc.) so it had a fair trial on most types of surfaces.
The vacuum cleaner feels as strong as a corded vacuum cleaner and picks up debris well especially dust, dirt and hair. It’s been brilliant on carpets but not so great on hard floors as it seems to push a lot of the bigger bits of debris around.
It is lightweight and does not strain the arms when vacuuming for a reasonable length of time, it is a bit top-heavy though so might not be suitable for everyone to use. It’s easy to store away with the handy little wall bracket, it is also easy to remove from the bracket and use. The LED lights on the front pedal are brilliant to brighten up dark places so you can make sure every nook and cranny is cleaned.
This vacuum cleaner comes with 1 battery, this last around 45 minutes of use. To fully charge each battery takes approx 2 hours but you can charge it for less time if you need it quickly. This model comes with only one battery you can get an extra battery
One battery is fully charged, seems to last an everyday light vacuum around the whole house. This is using the brush bar switched on as well as the vacuum. The battery does not last as long as quoted possibly because of the use of the brush bar but does charge in a shorter time than stated. So far we have not had to use the vacuum on its full power setting (Turbo mode) for a considerable length of time. The turbo mode does drain the battery a lot but thankfully it is rarely used, mainly just for short bursts on stubborn dirt.
The battery life is very good compared to some other cordless vacuums, Just press the button and the charge level is displayed via LED lights.
A good range of attachments are included, we especially like the motorised pet tool as it does help pick up hair and stubborn dirt especially in corners of carpets or on the edge of tiled floors.
This vacuum has a removable chamber as most vacuums have these days, it mainly sees through which is useful to see what has been collected (a must if you have kids that leave tiny toys on the floor) and also to check when the chamber is full and needs emptying. The chamber is large enough for a few days of light cleaning but anything more and it will probably need cleaning every day.
Not had any issues so far however detaching the main pipe is a bit tricky sometimes as it doesn’t always click out easily, might just be something we need to get used to.
Efficient, light weight and powerful
This is a game changer. I have wanted a more portable cordless vacuum for ages. Cleaning the car used to require 2 extension cables and a whole lot of body contorting to do a proper job. Not anymore! This is cordless, has a battery pack which is removed easily for recharging and comes with a whole host of different attachments. The battery lasts at least the 45 minutes it claims too and it’s light weight enough to quickly whizz over the floor as your guests are walking up the driveway. What’s really impressive is its power — we have a lot of hair in our family — pets and humans, though you wouldn’t know it after the Vax Blade 4 has done a once over! Considering the price I think this is a fantastic product and gives many of the far more expensive options on the market a good run for their money.
A few steps up from my old handheld, quite amazing
Not long ago I reviewed a carpet washing vacuum from Vax – it is a very useful machine. Now the time has come for a handheld wire-free standard vacuum version – and here I have an advantage. I already own that type of vacuum, from one of the leading brands. I even recorded a little comparison video of both.
The biggest issue and prejudice with those vacuums is their power. Some people even tend to think it’s only good enough for doing the inside of a car. But let’s start from the beginning.
The looks.
It’s always subjective but I think this vacuum looks amazing. I love the shape and the blue colour. There’s even functionality in the shape. The dust container is mounted at a 90 degree angle to the base, which makes the whole thing a bit shorter. The turbo-brush again is the nicest one I’ve seen so far, far nicer than in my old vacuum.
When you switch the vacuum on, the buttons light up in white. There’s even light turning on in the brushPretty cool.
Overall it beats my old vacuum senseless in terms of attractiveness (it’s brand shiny new which has an additional effect I’m sure).
Functionality and design.
This model is really well made. Everything fits perfectly – there are no ‘slide on’ parts, instead they are all ‘click and connect’ and there’s always a release button. The plastic parts are really high quality – thick and sturdy. The blue metal pipe is matte so you don’t have to worry about scratches etc.
This vacuum comes with a wide array of accessories. There are two turbo-brushes – the main one and a narrower one for cleaning pet hair and staircases etc. You have a regular brush end, the thin end for narrow places, the holder for the vacuum, a small holder for the thin end that you can attach to the pipe, the battery and the battery charger unit. There is also a super thick and solid rubber hose, which works well in connection with the brush and thin end. When I say thick – it’s the thickest I’ve ever seen. Very flexible at the same time though.
When you turn the vacuum on, it only turns the suction engine on but not the brush. There’s a separate button for this. The brush is quite hard so apparently on some hard floors it may cause scratches. That’s probably one thing I don’t necessarily like about this vacuum.
A few advantages over my old vacuum…
I love the fact I can completely detach the dust container in a matter of seconds. Makes it so much easier to clean it over the bin (and wash it later!). My old vacuum can’t do that.
The battery is also separate and super easy to attach/detach. It’s great you only charge the battery and can store the vacuum – such a space saver.
The brushes can pivot left and right a little bit, making maneuvering so much smoother.
And finally something that made me really struggle working with my old vacuum. You weren’t able to put it down with the pipe attached. The pipe ended up hanging in the air, with a fairly heavy brush attached at the other end, and would eventually break the plastic connector. This was a huge design flaw, which made me curse the vacuum every time I had to put it down to move something out of the way etc. The Vax vacuum – you can guess it has no such problem.
Power.
This is the heart of this review. How good is it in getting rid of stuff on the floor that we don’t want? My old vacuum does the job quite well. I don’t make a massive mess, but once I had my hair cut at home (yes in those difficult times without hairdressers) and it took less than 5 mins to clean up the hair.
What I noticed is that with smaller and lighter objects like bits of polyurethane, the Vax vacuum sucks them up from in front of the brush. I don’t even have to go over them. But I tried to be tough so I went with some leaves (size) and small stones (weight). Leaves were no issue for both although my old vacuum spitted some out to the back. With stones, both vacuums again sucked them up but most got stuck in the brush and some in the pipe. I did find a few in the dust container though. It went a lot better when I used the regular brush.
The fundamental idea is to not try and compare big corded vacuums with handheld wire-free ones. Of course the ones on battery will be less powerful. Size also matters. But there are pros and cons. I’d say if you have a large house that tends to get messy quite often, you should definitely get a full size vacuum. If you look after your place more often than once a week, you will do fine with a wire-free. It’s such a relief to not have to drag a heavy vacuum behind you and occasionally get the power cable stuck somewhere, or have to re-plug. I’m very used to handheld vacuums now.
Battery.
This was an issue with some previous models of this vacuum (I did my homework and read a few reviews). The actual battery time was apparently falling very far behind the advertised one.
Based on my experience I can say I haven’t got this issue with the new model. I managed to get just over 45 mins of continuous usage. I don’t have many carpets in my place though. And this is an ‘up to’ valueBut the positive is you can get another battery (some models even get sold with two) and replacing takes seconds.
You also have a boost button. I had it with the old vacuum too but never used it, as it would eat the battery in 5 mins. Here it’s better and lasts about 10 mins. The suction power increases dramatically to a point where it’s difficult to maneuver the brush.
Maintenance.
As mentioned before – you can completely dismount the dust container to clean it. From inside you can remove everything as well, which leaves you with an empty plastic box to clean. The brushes also can be taken apart quite easily.
Inside the dust container you’ll find a filter. It’s a typical round spongy filter with a net at the top. Best to squeeze it a few times under cold water and leave to dry completely. You need to replace them every 6 months or so. The cost is quite minimal. That’s it really…
My summary is always about the value for money. Does this vacuum deserve the price? I’ll say a definite ‘yes’ here. It’s really elegant, very functional and powerful – for a wire-free handheld vacuum. It is much better in almost everything than my old vacuum (with very similar cost). And it comes with an impressive number of accessories. I’m quite positive you won’t regret spending 300 on it. I need to think about what I’ll do with my old vacuum. Perhaps I could keep it to clean my car?
Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it helpful.
Good suction powe
With there been so many cordless hoovers on the market at the moment it’s very confusing which one best suits you but I can honestly highly recommend this hoover.
The hoover is very easy to put together, the battery has a handy button on that you press and it tells you how much charge is in the battery. The battery doesn’t take long to charge at all and it’s very easy to pop in and out of the charging stand. Also the battery is very easy to pop on the hoover and take off with very minimal effort.
The hoover itself isn’t massively heavy and takes minimal effort to hoover up, I found if you use the hoover on max power the battery doesn’t last long but on a lower suction power the hoover lasts for ages.
The accessories are very handy for hoovering stairs and cars and it take minimal effort to change the accessories. Came with a wall clip so the hoover can clip in and stay stood up right.
Perfect for family’s and highly recommend if you have pets as it picks up brilliantly
Separate rechargeable battery
The main difference between this and its previous incarnation is that, where you used to simply plug the charger into the blade, this has an independent battery you need to charge up and thenfit to the top. The instructions state that you must charge the battery completely before first use or it may affect the life of the battery. The lights on the battery charger aren’t that intuitive. A flashing white light means it’s charging and no light at all means it’s charged. The off board battery makes it more powerful but it does make the top heavier. The rest of the vacuum, the stick and the the head, are pretty light. The sweeper head is very flexible. It does a good job of cleaning. It picks up dust as well as fluff, although, you’re not going to get quite the suction of a big cylinder out of this.
The filter is washable. It is easy to empty. You can get to the beater bar to clean off threads. It comes with a wall mounting and 3 attachments, a crevice tool, a dusting brush and a pet pair head. It also comes with a hose.
You can’t fit the dusting or crevice tool to the hose. It only fits onto the beater brush head or the pet hair head. I guess this is intended for use in the car, although you do have to hold up the heavy top half while you guide the smaller head. It’s a little more cumbersome then using a floor-standing dust collector with a hose.
However, I’m impressed with the suction power on this, considering it’s relatively small and fairly lightweight. This is a good option for a senior, a small flat or apartment, provided that you don’t mind it’s a little heavier the last model because of the external battery.
Rivals the major brands, excellent suction, brilliant design & user friendliness, great battery life
I am so pleased with this vacuum cleaner from Vax. Clearly a lot of thought has been put into how user friendly the design is.
I’ve recently had a cordless Shark anti hair wrap and before that I had a Dyson V6 animal. This Vax is surprisingly better than both of these. In fact is is outstanding and nothing short of excellent.
Firstly it has very powerful suction. We have a dog, live near the sea and countryside, mum with long blonde hair, three messy kids and we are all very outdoorsy. So we need a vacuum that can cope with all that. We have wood and tiled flooring all downstairs and carpet upstairs. This vacuum lifts dirt, dust and hair with pure ease from any surface. Way better than any of my vacuum cleaners before.
The ease of use makes it a very convenient vacuum. I find it lightweight and well balanced which means I can manoeuver and drive the vacuum smoothly and it is responsive turning.
The battery life is impressive, I live in a 4 double bedroom home, about 1800 Square foot of living space. This vacuum I can achieve a whole household clean on one full battery. That’s with using the hard flooring setting downstairs, the carpet setting upstairs and the occasion maximum setting for those areas that require a bit extra.so the advertised 45 minute run time is completely accurate.
I love how the battery just slides on and off to be charged. I don’t have to fiddle about with an power cord plugging it into the machine. And it also means that I could get a second battery if required, say for instance I was feeling particularly busy I could do the whole house and then my two cars with that. But the two hour charge time is fine for me. Although I would like to have seen that the charging base could also have been wall mounted.
The attachments are pretty good. I love how it converts the vacuum my replacing the hard tube with a bendy one. It makes it perfect for vehicle cleaning. The three separate heads are great. The mini normal head is perfect size for effective stair or mat cleaning and is just as good as the full sized one. You can cycle between the hard floor and carpet setting on that too. The brush tool is perfect for skirting boards and in between balustrades. Also ideal for car dashboards. The plastic tube tool is great for crevices between the fridge and wall, in the edges of the stairs and up high removing cobwebs.
The dust cylinder has a very good capacity. And as it fills I don’t notice any loss of power or suction. Vax have made it very easy and convenient to remove to empty and in such away that avoids any mess. I could easily empty this into the kitchen bin if I wanted an be sure I won’t create more mess to vacuum up.
Both he main and smaller head have very effective brush bars in that is brilliant for dog hairs. It excels at lifting them from carpet. Both the long pile carpets in the house nad the weird fuzzy carpet in the boot of my car where the dog sits. However, my wifes lo g blode hair does get wrapped around it but it is very easy to slide it out and remove the hair. It’s made rather easy to do so. I haven’t yet found a vacuum where her hair does wrap around the brush.
Some extra points that stand out to me is the clear tube where most blockages occur is very clever I love the rubber flap that is on the cylinder door to prevent debris from coming out when you lift it out to empty. I love the way the cylinder is very simple to empty. It’s completely mess free. I like how it came with a wall mount and that the wall mount accommodates two attachments whilst the vacuum stores one upon its tube.
Lastly, the overall quality is evident. It has a very high standard of finish. It operates like a 300 vacuum and it looks like a 300 vacuum. It has nice little touches to, like how it feels and the ergonomics which makes it feel high end. I’m extremely pleased I got this vacuum. Normally I’d only recommend a Dyson but I’d have no qualms recommending this first to a friend or family. Or in fact any one who’d ask.
Good vacuum cleane
The first thing that surprised me was the amount of parts in the box, but it is very easy to assemble. By putting 4 of them together, plus the battery, you can start using it. Although I had to charge the battery before using it because it was completely empty, it’s not a big problem.
It is also quite simple to use, with one button to turn on the vacuum cleaner, another to turn on the roller motor (only in carpet mode) and another to change the suction power. The bucket is easy to empty and clean.
It is not too heavy but it is not light either. Neither one extreme or the other are good, in terms of handling on the one hand and robustness and quality of materials on the other.
I had been cleaning with a stand-alone vacuum cleaner for a while, and was surprised at the amount of dust it vacuumed up in a single use and a small area. It has a very strong suction power, perhaps too much in some cases, I usually find it difficult to move it across carpets.
I have to say that the vacuum cleaner does make noise, a lot at full power and with the roller motor on.
As for the battery life, I don’t think I have reached 45 minutes. I don’t know what kind of use that time is calculated for. Although it should also be taken into account that the batteries are usually discharged when not in use. This model only includes a single battery, but it has the advantage that it is removable, so it can be charged separately, so you don’t need to have the vacuum cleaner near a socket. And in case it breaks down, you can buy another one without having to change vacuum cleaner.
Great suctio
The best thing about this vacuum cleaner is that fact that I’m not tethered to an electrical cable while I clean. Once the vacuum is charged I can compile it the way I need and get on with cleaning. For most tasks I tend to have the long attachment on. It lets me vacuum my carpets and hard floors. For getting into small spaces I found that the flexible attachment is excellent.
The suction is powerful and lifts everything. It’s exceptionally easy to empty too.
I can get all of my vacuuming done easily with a charge.
It’s quick to charge and easy to clip the battery back in again. Also it doesn’t take up a lot of space to store in between uses.

Wow
The best I’ve used, fantastic for the car great cleaning power and fantastic for a quick clean around the house so easy to use battery life ok
We bought a non-branded cordless hoover a few years ago and have always been looking to upgrade it, mainly because we quickly found that the suction wasn’t particularly great when compared to some of the brands that our friends have.It tends to get used two or three times a week to vacuum the stairs and on occasion the car.The Vax Blade 4 is markedly better than the vacuum we were using previously, the suction power is surprisingly strong considering that it is battery powered (more powerful that out upright to be honest), so on that front I am very impressed. It’s an awkward one to balance but it is so strong that it is difficult to vacuum the rug in the living room as it pushes and pulls it around (I am not sure the exact dimensions of the rug but it must be around 2m x 3m) – that is annoying to an extent, but in all honesty I would rather it had strong suction and the rug move than weak suction and dust etc left on the floor.
After using it on our carpeted stairs I was pretty impressed with the amount of dust it sucked up with a single use and adding the boost creates a pretty impressive pulling capability. It also has a decent reach so getting up to those cobwebs is pretty easy.I didn’t quite manage to achieve the 45 minute run time, more like 25 mins, which wasnt quite enough to do eveything i wanted to do, but i still got the majority of areas cleaned.
I do like that the battery can be separated from the body of the unit.It makes charging easy and also allows you to buy a new battery as this original one starts to fade or indeed buy additional batteries to extend your vacuum time.
Price wise, at the time of review this isn’t the cheapest model out there but for me it does a great job and if you are looking for a portable vacuum with bags of suction capability you won’t go far wrong with this.
An almost perfect hoover!
This Blade 4 by Vax was exciting, because it offered a number of things we’d been searching for in a hoover. It was wireless, it was designed to pick up pet hair, and it was also designed for use in the car. So, let me tell you about it and how we got on!
Weight: The hoover is incredibly light seeing as it is wireless. This means it is easy to pick up and carry around the home or to your car. Usually getting the hoover out is a bit of a pain and reserved for once a week, but this one comes out every time we need it. Doing the stairs is easy, carrying it to the car is a breeze, and lifting it up to hoover the sofa or whatever else is no problem at all.
Convenience: The wireless nature of this hoover is just awesome. Pretty much everything listed above is easier because it is wireless. Taking it to the car we no longer need an extension lead. Going up or down the stairs we don’t need to switch plugs or risk tripping over the wire. Hoovering around obstacles is made really simple due to there not being a wire to get caught. Oh, and of course, you can never hoover up the hoover wire either! 🙂
Battery-life: The battery life is good when using it in default mode, but just OK when you crank up the power. So, the battery is probably going to last you around 40 minutes if you’re using the default suction mode. Now, I think this would be fine on wooden floors or floors hoovered daily. However, on our cream carpet that we do once or twice a week this didn’t pick up everything visible – especially as we have long-haired dogs. Luckily, there is a ‘boost’ mode and a spinning brush that you can turn on. Using both of these settings leaves our carpet spick and span. However, this extra power takes the battery life down to around 20-30 minutes. For us this is perfectly fine as we can get our whole house done in this amount of time. However, those who have a larger house may find they need to do the upstairs, charge the battery, then do the downstairs – which could be annoying. The battery has four white lights with one going off as each quarter of the batter runs out; so you know when you’re down to the last one you’re going to need to charge it soon. Charging is very easy, you just place the battery in the included battery charger and it’ll be ready to use again in an hour or two (the lights light up as the charging progresses).
Cleaning: As I said above, with the hoover running at full power with the brush, it does a great job cleaning our cream carpet that quickly gets covered in black chihuahua fur. The brush detaches the fur from the carpet and the powerful suction hoovers it up. Emptying the hoover is quick and easy, with the top bucket detaching, so you just open it up and tip it into the bin: no bags or anything.
Extras: In addition to the standard hoover attachment, you get a pet attachment, a hose, and a nozzle. The get attachment makes hoovering pet beds a breeze, and the nozzle with the hose is our favourite combination for the car. Because it’s incredibly small (see pictures), it’ll easily sit on your seat whilst you hoover. The nozzle is also great for getting the bits of carpet by the skirting board that the standard attachment won’t quite reach.
So, overall, we think this hoover is amazing. It’s incredibly light, it’s so easy to maneuver around your home, the wireless convenience means we’ll never be able to go back to wired, it’s perfect for homes with pets as it picks up fur and the hoover design and build quality means it’s built to handle it all too. The only downside would be the battery life and price. The battery life is the cost for such a light hoover I guess and because it’s so quick and easy to charge it never felt like a chore to us (as a couple who own a three bedroom house). The price is going to be personal preference: are you willing to pay that bit extra for a wireless hoover specially made for portability and pet fur. For us it would be a yes! 🙂
This hoover is spot on! I have had a shark anti hair wrap cordless hoover, but returned it! It didn’t pick up the hair and kept getting clogged! I also have a Henry hoover for more thorough cleaning. BUT this has by far.. got to be the best hoover I have bought yet!
The suction power is brilliant! Even has a boost button! The amount of dust and dirt it picks up is just brilliant too. It’s as light as it can be really.. I mean.. you put a battery pack in the back of it.. so it’s going to have a little weight to it. But it’s by far the lightest cordless hover I have bought!
I have 2 young girls with very long hair.. and long hair myself. I also have a big Labrador and it literally picks up everything. I manage to do 4 rooms and 2 hallways on full boost with still a little power left (I live in a flat) so I can imagine on the light setting you could get much more out of it. Very handy light on the front of the hoover too. I just can’t fault it at all! You won’t be disappointed if you buy it.
Thought I would add to my review after using it every day for 2 months! Still going strong and no loss of suction. Picture to show how much it actually picks up!!
Great for pet hairs.
We’ve never had a ‘stick’ hoover so I was really happy to test one out. The Vax Blade Pet cordless vacuum has caused alot of discussion in our house. I have arthritis and found the vax really easy to hold and use, I felt it didn’t feel too weighty in the hand, however my husband thought it felt heavy and he has no mobility/dexterity issues. When switched on with the brush spinning the vacuum moves easily both on carpet and granite flooring, I switched the brush off on the hard floors. The suction is excellent when the brush is spinning and I found it good on the hard floor too. However, my husband thought the suction wasn’t as good with the hand tools and he found them quite awkward to use. I would question the 45 minute per battery runtime, ours was fully charged yet probably only lasted about 30 minutes. This model comes with only one battery you can get an extra battery with the Vax Blade 4 Dual Pet & Car Cordless Vacuum Cleaner with Motorised Pet Tool – CLSV-B4DC model priced at 369.99. The build is really solid and it is a nice design, the key question is….. is it worth 299.99. I think it’s quite pricey for what you get however the suction is good.
No lead but lots of power.
The vax blade has lost the lead but not the power.
The battery powered machine means that you can quickly zip around the house for a quick clean up before visitors as it is ready to go from picking it up and when you are done, you are done- no winding leads up , it simply goes away.
The pick up on the machine is really good, it gets even the smallest dust particles as well as larger crumbs and general debris.
The roller blade does a good job at flicking up the debris from all surfaces, I have smooth tiles, carpet and an uneven slate tile, it can cope well with all these floors, but I have found that my long hair does tie around it, so it needs cutting free every so often.
It doesn’t cope with edges where my carpet meets the wal particularly well, so needs the tool to get a thorough clean along these.
The tools are good and can turn a proper sized machine into a mini one for dealing with the car, the stairs or even or the mattress on the bed.
I have a 1930’s semi, a very average home in style and size and the battery can do my house from top to bottom and still have 2/3 bars of power on it the difference depends if I do a quick clean round or an everything out and vacuumed behind/under type of clean.
It is a good machine for anyone who struggles with heavy vacuums as it is pretty light for a vacuum cleaner and easy to carry and manoeuvre around the house.
I am impressed ( and ashamed!) by the pick up as it has made a noticeable difference to the carpet after each use and the bin has been filled with fluff and crumbs etc.
Emptying the bin is easy, the bottom just flips open and the contents fall out- easy.
All in all it’s a good vacuum cleaner, it does a great job and is easy to use.
I can now vacuum my home, myself, again!
I was pleased to try this ‘Vax Blade 4 Pet & Car Cordless Vacuum Cleaner with Motorised Pet Tool – CLSV-B4KC’. I have been looking to get one of these cordless cleaners for a while now but with the array of models and manufacturers, it is difficult to pick the right one. I have a long term spine and muscle condition and haven’t been able to use my current corded, heavy machine, for a couple of years – I have to leave it to my hard working husband to find time to vacuum. I need an appliance that glides, is effective and lightweight – I am hoping this will be the right one for me.
1. There is a little assembly needed but it is only fitting/clipping into position. No screwdriver is needed. You get the blue long ‘stick’, main unit, dust container, flexible tube, main brush bar, battery and charging unit, brush, nozzle and small brush bar. There is also two storage clips, one with fixings and room to store attachments and an instruction leaflet.
2. The instructions are easy to follow, with pictures and diagrams, along with some written instructions. I can’t fault how they have been structured.
3. Firstly put your battery pack in the charger and plug it in. White lights appear and will go off when charged. You have to charge the battery fully before first use or ‘it may result in poor battery performance’. It took mine about 2 hours to charge.
4. You clip the main brush bar onto the blue stick and the motor unit onto the other end. Then the dust container clips easily in place at the front of the motor unit, so that the two white arrows point at each other. When charged, the battery pack clips in the rear of the motor unit. All these items have an easy push release button to disassemble.
5. To turn on, you press the top ‘power’ button for a couple of seconds. The machine turns on but not the brush bar, until you press the 2nd button – the light on the brush bar then also illuminates the carpet in front of the bar. It will pick up without the brush bar activated on carpet but you do not get the freshly vacuumed look. You must not use the brush bar on hard floors. The 3rd button is the boost – it really does give the sucking power a big boost. When you have turned the machine off, you have to scroll through the buttons again when you restart – it does not remember that the brush bar or boost was on. I don’t think this is a flaw though, as you wouldn’t want to turn it on, on a hard floor and scratch it with the brush bar that you had forgotten was on from the last time.
6. There are two other variations you can use – a) the main brush bar attached directly to the motor unit. b) the hose attached to the motor unit and the small brush bar, nozzle or brush attached to the other end of the hose. The small brush bar has a hinged clear plastic plate that seems to be so you can vacuum the tread of the stairs and change position for the upright part of the stairs (or furniture of pet hairs, of course).
7. The weight of the main cordless vacuum is only 2.9kg (without battery pack).
8. The capacity of the dust container is 0.6L. It suggests that you empty each time you have vacuumed. With tapping the filter over a bin every 4-6 uses, washing every 3 months. You should replace the filter every 6 – 9 months depending on use.
9. Now, how I found using it – I love it! I can now vacuum my home again – admittedly one room in a session but that is just my condition, nothing to do with the effectiveness of the machine. It is lightweight and easy to manovre, the brush bar pivots so that you can change direction/angle with no effort. You can lower the wand to vacuum under furniture – it is reaching under things that I had had to move, in the past. The battery lasts 45 minutes from a full charge. There are light signals when there is a blockage and it seems simple to clear them, although I haven’t had to yet, also simple for when you need to get any wrapped hair off the brushes. I had only done one room and it certainly picked up a lot of carpet fluff/dust/debris – enough for me to have to empty the container. This is an easy action – unclip, open, empty, close, refit – all very quick. The way it can be changed to the handheld unit, so quickly is great and it is effective on the stairs and fantastic cleaning the car. The only extra thing I would have liked is a shoulder strap for when using it as a unit with the hose etc., – it would just make it easier for me. The only thing I, personally, can’t do with it is use it on boost, as it is too hard for me to push. My husband was fine using it, though and was fairly wizzing around while using it.
10. For the current price of 299 it is worth it for me. I would be happy to recommend it, especially for someone who needs a light, easy to manovre unit, like me.
So easy. Great cleaning
This vacuum cleaner was easy to set up. Once charged I found it really simple to use.
The smaller head than I’m used to made it effortless to get under the furniture.
I love the light, it is nice and bright and it enables you to see exactly where you are cleaning.
The bin is quick to empty which makes it a breeze to do.
I managed to clean all my downstairs carpets and hard floors on one charge with power left, I wouldn’t do any more than that in one go so I don’t know how long it would last.
It isn’t too heavy although it is definitely powerful enough to do all my cleaning.
I couldn’t ever go back to a corded vacuum and love this one for speed.
Highly recommended
Absolutely amazing
This is an absolutely amazing piece of kit, I vacuumed my home on Friday using my old vacuum cleaner and did it again today using the Vax Blade 4 pet, I couldn’t believe how much it picked up. I live alone, have no pets and still it picked up so much.
The carpets were new in June and I vacuum a couple of times a week, but this new one is astounding. It’s lightweight, has really good suction even on the lowest setting, the powered brush head works well.
Overall, I couldn’t be happier with my purchase.
Being disabled it's a perfect weight for me
I don’t have stairs so cannot make a comment but I have no reason to believe it wouldn’t be equally as good on stairs as the rest of my fla
