Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe old “broken” meter I was replacing had 2 prongs, which were a bit awkward to use in Pots that had decorative chippings on top. This single pronged one is soo much easier to use.
My old one was easy to switch off by accident – this one does not have on/off, so issue gone.

Note – this is a single function item – which works better for me. But some alternatives you can buy also have a PH tester functionality in the same device.

I love this device- finally I am watering my plants correctly. I realized that I have been watering them too much and this product helped me realize that. Now I check humidity level each week and water the plants accordingly. Great value for the money.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersMy garden is mainly containers of which I have about 40 and I have always watered them all at once whenever they seemed dry. Imagine my surprise when I used this to find that some of them were really wet underneath, some slightly moist and some really dry. This means less time spent watering plants that don’t need it. I’m really loving this moisture meter. I’m like a kid with a new toy

I recently added the XLUX Soil Moisture Meter to my gardening toolkit, and it’s been a game-changer for my household plants! This hygrometer sensor is incredibly user-friendly and provides accurate readings, ensuring my plants get the right amount of water. No more guessing or overwatering! It’s become an essential tool for my indoor gardening routine, and I can’t emphasize enough how useful it has been. Every plant enthusiast should consider having one. Highly recommended for anyone looking to optimize their plant care!

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersTell me I need to get a life but I’m over the moon with this purchase, no I’m ecstatic!
I have lost a couple of outdoor potted plants already this year after bringing them home from the garden centre, one in less than a week. I also tried sewing some seeds – out of a whole packet, only one survives (just). I also plan to take cuttings but fear them all dying on me. The reason? I believe I over watered them.
My extra long moisture meter (it’s really not that long) arrived the next day and I put it to work immediately, that one surviving plant is on the low side of wet yet on the top it looks like it needs watering.
Outside I currently have nearly 30 pots and hanging baskets, I’ve tested them all and only 4 need water.
This meter is going to save my plants dying from over watering, save money on my water bill and make watering my outdoor pots less of a chore because I won’t be out there watering every one thoroughly every other day or two. Only the ones that need it will be watered.
Also I feel more confident in growing seeds and taking cuttings, so it’ll save me money on plants as hopefully I won’t need to buy more at the garden centre.
What’s not to like ? I’m going to purchase the smaller moisture meter to keep indoors (and I don’t even have shares in the company).
If you love plants, you need this.
    Don’t delay, buy one today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Buy EVER !

I received this soil water monitor 2 days ago so have yet to put it to the test long term.
So far I’ve found it very user friendly and am hopeful that it’s as accurate as it seems to be.
It appears to be “the real deal” as it’s given different, but believable, readings for the moisture content in the soil of each one of my 5 houseplants.
At last there’s no more guess work when it comes to knowing whether or not my houseplant needs watering .

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis was recommended by the Youtube channel ‘Sheffield Made Plants’, as a much more accurate way to gauge when your plants need watering. I was loosing a. few plants I believed through ‘over watering’ and this has proved that they don’t all need watering weekly, as I was previously doing. Hopefully over time this will make a huge difference.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI wasn’t sure what to expect, but am pleasantly surprised to find this is very easy to use. Just stick the metal prong into the soil and it gives an instant reading. No batteries needed, no complicated technology, easy reading and lightweight. Using this awesome bit of kit takes out the guess work on how much water your larger house plants need, the spike goes a long way into large pots and tests the moisture at greater depth, It is surprising how damp the base of your large pots can remain even when you think the soil is dry, for very little money you completely remove the damage that can be caused by under/over watering. Just insert the probe a few inches in small pots or about 5/6 inches in very large pots for an immediate result saving on loosing expensive plants due to incorrect care, feeding and watering, Its a winne

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI definitely do not have green fingers. Indoors or out. I have even been known to kill a buddleia!!!
So when my son and fiancee bought me a houseplant I was determined not to kill it. Did a bit of research and ended up buying this. I can honestly say that I have now been able to beat my all time record thanks to this little device. I use it once a week to check on my plant.
It is so easy to use and so far has been accurate. If it says dry – I water. If it says moist – I leave it alone. If it says wet – I panic!! No seriously I just take the plant pot out of the decorative holder and let it drain off for a day or two. But thinking about it, that only happened at the very beginning before I got to trust this little gadget.
And now my plant is 2 years old. Might not seem a big deal to you but as I say that is a record for me. They usually die within weeks. Sorry.

Simple design, this moisture meter is easy to read and to use. You can simply wipe with a cloth between uses and store easily. My only gripe is it seems to give mixed readings. Tried on same plant in different parts of pot at different times and 25% of the readings were different to the average reading. It’s fit for purpose but as not 100% accurate will not be using it on my rarer plants

Used for checking soil moisture levels on our bowling green. Very important as a guide to irrigation required to prevent LDP.
This meter has a much stronger probe than 2 or 3 function meters allowing moisture levels to be assesses at 6ins depth rather than 2ins.
Bowling greens need to be firm and other probes were bending quite severely.

It is easy to over water container plants causing harm, so this is an essential bit of kit to maintain healthy

Anyone whose not sure when to water a plant, get one of these.

Some plants need more water than others, so you do need to know if the plant needs moist or dry soil.

Once you know this, this gadget is so easy to use. Follow the instructions….
Place in soil and read dial, simple.
IT WONT WORK IN A GLASS OF WATER, the instructions tell you this.

My only criticism is a tip protector would be handy.

What a useful gadget this is. I am prone to overwatering if in doubt and this gadget will save me gallons. The reading shows quickly and appears spot on. I tested this for accuracy on three houseplants which I already knew to be knew dry, damp and just watered (so therefore wet). The meter immediately moved to the correct section, so I can confirm it works. All you have to do is gently push the pointy bit into the soil until it is about half-way down and the meter results are immediate. The only reason I didn’t give it maximum stars is because there are no ‘how to use’ instructions on or in the box (the box simply has warnings of what not to do and a loonnnggg list of various plants). I had to refer to the blurb it has on Amazon to make sure I was using it correctly. But I am very pleased with my purchase.

This probe relies on the conductivity of wet soil.
The tip and stem of the probe are different metals, they behave like the two terminals of a battery and they will be at different potentials (giving a reading) when placed in a conductive solution. They rely on the conductivity of soil which depends on moisture level. Water, by itself, is a poor conductor so gives a low reading as the instructions suggest – reviews that say the probe doesn’t work with water are correct but irrelevant – the probe is not made to be used in water. The stem and tip must be wiped clean with rough paper or a very smooth nail polisher every time. Have used one of these for years without a problem.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBought this because im prone to overwatering. I had a few pots with no drainage and wanted to check the moisture level at the bottom to prevent root rot. This is easy to use straight out the box, and like i had suspected it was to wet at the bottom of the pots, a repotting confirmed that the reading was accurate as the soil was waterlogged. I couldnt recommend this enough to novices like me or someone more greenfingered. Included a photo of the box because read previous reviews about it not reading water correctly however instructions say not to dip it directly into water.

    Great for a over-waterer!

Got this for my indoor plants as I over/under water them a lot (theres no in between) and it’s been quite accurate for most of them. Some I’ve watered and tested later on and it still says dry so I’m either not watering enough or the meter is off a bit? Still reccomend anyway as it does change

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersI recently managed to kill a plant by overwatering as the top few inches of the soil in the pot were completely dry when I stuck my finger into it. I hadn’t realised the soil below was completely waterlogged. I decided it was time for a more scientific approach and, after much research, opted for this tool. It’s brilliant! It’s taken all the guesswork out of watering my plants and I’ve been surprised by how wet several of the pots were. I’ve adjusted my watering accordingly and the plants are already looking healthier, with several showing new shoots. I highly recommend this tool, although I suggest you check online for additional guidance as the instructions on the box are a bit brief.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersExcellent bit of kit, very easy to use and great value for money. I must mention that the 1* reviewer ‘Fuzzy Wuzzy’ clearly did not read the instructions on the box which specifically tell you not to put the probe in water and that you need to wipe the probe with a piece of rough paper after use to remove metal oxide build up on the surface, as eventually if not removed they will cause the probe to become inaccurate. Read the very clear instructions properly and then you can’t go wrong!

This is my second meter which i use for moisture- slightly annoyingly it gives a different reading from my other ‘2 prong’ one. Which is right?
It is easier to use for small plants, than the other one, with less root disturbance.
Definitely it is working and of course the results are a little relative. So really it doesn’t matter too much that the results are different. But it means that the moisture meters are not standardised, nor precise. This is less than reassuring.

I use this gadget to measure the moisture of my compost pile. It does the job. My compost pile is Muy Bueno, as expert composter Grigorio Vieja de la Contorto is fond of saying. Senor Contorto has won the World Composting Championships eight out of the last nine years. He didn’t win in 2016 because of a dalliance with transvestism that caused him to lose focus on his first love, the world of compost and composting. But now he’s back to his winning ways. Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersWell, after overwatering my calathea and monsteras I needed some way of checking the soil that didn’t involve a finger. This gadget seems just fine, even at different depths the reading changes due to the soil dampness. This is a great gadget and one that I would recommend. Is it absolutely 100% accurate? Probably not, but it’s good enough to give a very close indication.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersThis is a great little gadget that will help aid me in watering my potted plants.

As I am growing chillies it is difficult to guage if they needed watering as they don’t like too much water. This little device takes away the guess work and simply displays how much moisture is in the soil.

Simple to use, you just push the prong into the soil and instantaneously the meter tells you how moist the soil is.

An added bonus is that it requires no batteries.

All in all an amazing little gadget, however I don’t know how accurate it is as I have nothing to compare it with.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersDidn’t have much expectations. I’m a new plant parent and with weather turning, I was not sure how much or how little i should water. Also, as i have a range of plants, from those who like being dry between watering to those who love moist soil, this is amazing. I dipped it into different pots and the needle moved pretty accurately. If you like me are learning better watering etiquette, just get it. Your plants will love you.

So now its just over a month I have had it and it has stopped working. All my plants are ‘Dry’ even minutes after watering them. Could not get through the seller, no idea if its a dud product, or i have broken it?

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI was a little sceptical about this when i saw it, but as i am new to growing veg i wanted to know when to water and when not to water, so this seemed to be the ideal option
There were many who said it doesn’t work, but all i can think is either they had a broken meter or they inserting the wrong end!
Now i can successfully test all the veg and plants and know when to water them and when not too, even when the soil looks dry, this tells me it’s moist or wet at the root level, and so far my veg is thanking me with good growth and great veg

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersSoil Moisture Sensor Meter – how have I managed without one of these for so long? Recommended to me by my brother, but I thought I knew best with decades of house plant growing experience! Having lost a few too many plants recently I got one of these & it seems I’ve been over watering!! The top couple of inches of soil in the pots was deceptively bone dry but the base of the pot was water logged – my poor plants! Easy to use & good value for money – wish I’d got one years ago! Definely recommend.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI have to admit, I was very sceptical about this, but it works really well. I bought it as I was having Difficulty with knowing how moist the soil was in my houseplants, I wasn’t sure whether they had enough water, the top but was dry but should I water it today? This tool eliminates all the guess work and makes it easy for me to know when to water. I stick it in the soul and the needle moves between dry, moist and wet so I know if it’s time to water or not. This has made life much easier so I would recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersProduct was very easy to use. Brought for my mum as she is a beginner gardener and needed help with not under/over watering plants. Very straight forward. Put the silver pointed end 3-5 inches into the soil. Test three different parts of the soil to be sure. Obviously not the outer parts. If it is moist it’s perfect. Dry it needs watering. Wet , then you leave it as it’s had to much water. Best to test early morning/late at night (same times you would water a plant/flower)

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersReally simple to use brill bit of kit that really has transformed my plant watering. Recently started to grow tomatoes in pots. No plastic pots available because of lock-down (looking skyward emoji) so used some ceramic pots that I had lying about. Problem they had no drainage holes. So I watered all the plants the same and think I initially over-watered my toms (sad face emoji). Thought I was going to lose the tom plants but Luckily XLUX T10 Soil Moisture Sensor Meter came to the rescue and saved the day (should have been wearing some knickers outside some tights!). Now I can water plants as required. Thoroughly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersExcellent item…though on the box it says Made in China and I do not want to buy ANTHING made in that country, for many reasons. Amazon needs to state the country of manufacture on ALL items so that customers have a choice whether to buy.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI’ve had this for a couple of weeks and its been great. Suprised me on the dry/dampness on a few plants which is why I think this is an excellant purchase. I bought it primaril as my areca palm was dying and It confirmed I was keeping it too dry. I feel more confident being able to check the soil deeper in the plant pot. Very happy I bought this. According to the instructions, you’re not meant to leave it in the plant pot and you’re not meant to put the tip directly into water. It doesnt require batteries. It works as soon as the tip goes into the soil making the process very quick. Five stars from me.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersAlmost killed my Calathea due to overwatering and could never quite tell when watering was required. To my surprise the soil retained moisture weeks after the last watering and the meter was able to give me a reading essentially stopping me from overwatering. As a result the plant came back to life. Extremely happy with this purchase.
