Understanding Household Fleas
| | | |
|---|---|---|
Signs of FleasIrregular scratching and irritation is usually the first sign that a pet has fleas. Closer inspection will usually reveal the 2mm long insects, as well as black droppings, in their coat and bedding. As fleas can cause more serious health problems than just the initial itch, it’s vital to treat both the pet and their home environment to prevent further infestations. | Causes of FleasDogs and cats often get infested with fleas through contact with other animals or from fleas in the environment. Although fleas lay their eggs in the fur of animals, these can easily fall off pets and become embedded in bedding, carpets and rugs where they may lay dormant for a number of weeks, especially in colder weather, which can lead to repeat infestation further down the line. | Treatment & PreventionFlea eggs are almost impossible to see, but using Zero In Flea Killer trap is an ideal way to detect fleas as they hatch in and around living areas. Apply Zero In Flea Control products to pet bedding and household furniture, as well as surrounding areas, for effective control of adult fleas and their eggs, and also to prevent repeat infestations. To treat pets directly use the Zero In Flea Killer Comb. Vacuum and wash pet bedding regularly. |

Easy to out togethe
Easy to put together only used a few times and other than a couple of bugs it offered us the reassurance that our dogs visitor had hopped a ride from the vets and all other precautions were working including his monthly treatment. Only used a few times so I can’t comment on the life span of the light bulb.
Does the job
Purchased 2 fora bad infestation, both work brilliantly capturing new hatches before they can feed on any pets.
Only thing stopping me give 5 stars, is that the bulbs do not last very long and have to purchase replacements frequently.
Good item once sorted ou
At first when I plugged it in the unit went out and I wasn’t impressed thought it was the bulb. I bought the zero in pack with 2 bulbs and 3 sticky pads to give it a chance and it still didn’t work… however the upshot is it turned out the fuse had blown in the plug and I replaced that and now it works fine and is catching fleas
Definitely works!!
As other reviews have said quite a flimsy construction but easy to assemble however, it definitely works – I bought two and put them in different places and they had fleas on the sticky pad within a hour!
Great for monitoring where the fleas are in the house.
Only had for 24 hours so far but still working fine with around 15 fleas caught so far (plus two moths unfortunately) so I would recommend as a monitoring tool.
You still need the spray to manage the eggs and larvae of course.
Really works Brillia
Can’t believe how well it works don’t know where they came from just pleased to catch them. Easy to set up and change paper. Wish I saw it sooner spent fortune on spray etc. Cat not scratching so much
Great service, good product, easy to setup, on information sheet bulb is supposed to last 1000hrs, bulbs failed after 3 days, I’m not happy about this, on this basis I would not recommend this product.
bye bye fleas
i brought this as my daughter got a kitten who came to us full of flees. after treatment to the kitten that didn’t work for a couple of weeks i was in a panic we would get invested so i brought this placed it in my daughters room where cat mostly was at the time, within a day it had caught multiple flees was very impressed. now having sorted the kitten and our carpets out we have no issue but still leave the lamp on as a back up incase one may jump on cat why out. very impressed with product and great for catching other things two like spiders fruit flys ect.
Only had it for a day and it caught something overnight, may or may not be fleas.
I’m not sure how long the bulb or sticky pad will last but they’re not expensive to replace.
Simple construction, and if it’s not handled or moved frequently there’s no reason why it needs to be any sturdier.
The bulb holder did not over heat as I thought it might after a whole day being left on and remained cool to the touch.
Things to watch out for. The sticky pad is a pain to place in the tray because it’s so sticky on the open side, a small tab of plastic on the edge to hold it in place while the backing film is being peeled off would have helped a great deal.
By the way, there’s no on/off switch on this model so to turn it off you have to unplug or switch off at the socket. Not the end of the world.
It catches them
Ok, basically it’s doing the job, picture is after the 2nd night usage. Half were caught the night before. The quality of item isn’t the best but it works, people talk about lamps popping, bear in mind don’t m9ve it about while plugged in, don’t fit lamp in while it’s switched on. Like any lamp they could just pop. I’ve had this on continious for two days and going to leave it for another 2 weeks to make sure I get them all, got smoke bombs as back up anyway.
So yes basically it’s working!
I thought I would buy one of these to see if they worked, as it’s not a big investment. These little units are amazing! Our cat gets a spot-on treatment every month which she hates, but is much better than us getting fleas! We have had a couple of breakouts even although we give her that. I seem to have quite a severe reaction to the bites and also get a lot more bites than my husband. So I bought one of these after the last breakout, and Wow, they attract a lot of fleas. My vet friend told me, they are almost impossible to eradicate, because they get down behind your skirting boards and multiply etc.. So I went back and bought another 3 units with extra bulbs and sticky pads, to put in all the rooms she goes in to. The only downside is, that they are quite fragile. It doesn’t take much for the bulb to stop working, which seems to be from a rather slack connection my husband says. So he has been able to sort that connection on each of our units, which is good for us, but not great for anyone else who is not as handy as he is.. I have written to the company with this information and hopefully they will fix the problem for good! Unfortunately some other bugs also are attracted to it, usually moths (which like to destroy my clothes) so I am okay with that at the moment.
Really good produc
Really good product, used as I did not want to use harsh chemicals in my grandmothers house and left out for a month changes the pads a few times as they did get fleas on them! I just changed the pads again and we have zero fleas around the house now so really good product! I would recommend one for each main room of the house to make it work perfectly!
Excelle
After waging war on fleas all summer, I bought these lamp traps, I am so glad I did. With 3 dogs and 3 cats in my household, the fleas were winning until I got these lamps. I have two in the lounge and one in the bedroom, and my god do they work. I spent hundreds on flea treatments and sprays and in the end it was these lamps that finally gave me the upper hand. Here’s to a flea free winte
Catches fleas within the hou
I was a little sceptical of the success of this product but having put it in the bedroom within an hour there were a couple of fleas, and now a few hours later it’s caught lots more, and it does seem to attract fleas jumping towards it.
It seems to be doing a better job than the sprays that I’ve purchased previously.
Fantastic produc
This is an amazing product that actually works cant believe how many fleas it has caught already and that was after several sprays on the carpet with so called industrial killer , won’t be using any of the harmful pungent sprays anymore, this is far more successful and easy to use this is a must have product for anyone with pets that go outdoors whether you use flea treatment on them or no
I placed these down after treating the house with room sprays and foggers. Obviously they didn’t work or there wouldn’t have been fleas for this to catch, this seems to have worked well. The only issue is how many of these you need, one in every room and don’t forget hallways..
Be careful when assembling the light bulb, I’m sure it can break easily. I literally caught only one flea but I haven’t seen any more since then, so maybe I got it when they were mostly gone. I think it works. I would’ve liked a longer cable so I could plug it closer to the bathroom, where I don’t have a plug, but other than that, it worked for me.
I got this device with not much hope of it working but I read the reviews and thought I’d give it ago as it wasn’t too expensive. Plugged it and it started working immediately! Unfortunately having pets does bring in little critters from time to time but this product was surprisingly very good and would get another for another area of the house.
5.0 out of 5 stars Zero In works
I ordered the product several times and I can say the following: this trap works. Sticky pad is really sticky and caught about 30 fleas in one room in 3 days. It doesn’t solve the problem completely but it does help.
However last time when I ordered 3 traps at once I got a completely different product. Be careful! Zero In has a proper box (as on photo) with instructions etc. But last time I got 3 plain white boxes with different looking traps and useless pads – fleas were jumping out of the traps! I did some research and found that last traps in white boxes looked like Aspectek product. Now I have to look for Zero In somewhere else.
5.0 out of 5 stars Does the trick! Used with other products
I flea bombed the house first and then used this. I have trapped a few critters so it’s good to see whether you’re on top of an infestation. This works well in attracting any left behind!
5.0 out of 5 stars it works
Really easy to put together – even I managed it! Fleas are dead or dying on the sticky sheets – not had single one jump on me since I plugged it in on Thursday 🙂 Definitely recommend this produc
5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly effective
Where sprays and bombs have failed, this trap has proven to be very effective.
After only one week the tide has now turned.
I would recommend this product to anyone having flea problems in their home.
5.0 out of 5 stars Wow definitely worth i
can’t believe how many where caught in it even after treating the cats and house. Forgot to take a pic of the last one but changed to the second disk so hoping this one stays empty. Definitely works though i leave on all day and night. Going to invest in a few more when on offer.
5.0 out of 5 stars Tried everything else…
I have two cats and I’ve had a flea problem for a few weeks. I’m literally being eaten alive! And it’s driving me mad. Had this plugged in for a few hours and already seeing great results. Hopefully using this with regular vacuuming, flea spray etc will do the trick. I bought two and have also plugged one in upstairs. Fingers crossed this is the answer to my nightmare. Well worth the money!
Will test tonigh
I bought 5 of these products and out of the 5 that I had bought 1 didn’t work but the rest do. Bit dissapointing as these aren’t exactly cheap items.
They arrived fast with tracking.
I give 4 stars due to the fact one was broken.
Not really sure why the rating isn’t higher for this product. Can only assume it’s the assembling of the thing that throws people off as I definitely had to get my brother to help!
Been having a mild flea infestation in my apartment due to my two cats. Once we started washing them regularly, its as if the fleas wasn’t taking a liking to their shampoo and jumped off and made our bedrooms their home instead.
Was honestly going mad as I was waking up with new bites everyday. I booked a pest control for next week but with this trap, insecticide spray and frequent vacuuming, the fleas are definitely decreasing to the point where I may not need the pest control anymore!
Definitely helps more to put it on during night but for my sanity I’ve kept it on for 3 days straight and it’s still running 🙂
Have been treating a flea infestation that’s played merry hell with our 2 cats so been throwing spray bombs etc in the house to rid us of the little critters and as part of this have tried these traps and as you can see they are working a treat. Think, in conjunction with, sprays etc they are an added bonus to rid you of fleas but something else needed for the eggs but well impressed.
O.K. three cats rural location, Know your Enemy . Flea’s can lay dormant for upto and longer than 8 months, Sell a house , move out , someone moves in after 5 months. You have flea’s. No pets but you have flea’s. Flea’s live in the carpet not the furniture (yes they do-ish sometimes). Flea’s are woken up by vibration you walk across a room ! they wake up & off we go. Same for a Cat , Dog or whatever. To know if you have flea’s kneel down rub the palm of your hands over the carpet for 5 seconds then stay still with your hands on the floor , if you have flea’s on your arms in 8 seconds ! guess what ? yep you got flea’s.
Do not put these Flea traps under the bed or in the corner of a dark part of a room. Put where there is activity, on the landing by the bathroom at night time where people are walking past to use the bathroom , the bottom of the stairs if you have cats and dogs that have full use of the house,
I have purchased 2 , 10 Flea’s in under 3 hours where I sit by my PC with 1 cat who is in and out, 4 flea’s from the 1 at the top of the landing where i am up and down doing stuff .
Worth the money YES . Just place them correctly .
H.T.H.
Cheers .
We bought this ages ago and it has helped us keep numbers down. This does not fix the issue but it does get rid of the ones you can’t see. I found it works better at night. It easy to put together and easy to refill.
Have been using this for a few weeks now. Have had to buy extra pads and bulbs. Hoping to get a flea free pad very soon. Have also used flea drops on my 3 cats and household flea spray. This is my 3rd month of trying to eradicate the fleas.
I originally bought this in 2019 to just keep any strays at bay as half my cats go outside daytime this worked really well – that was until I accidentally stood on it! don’t do that!
Now it’s January 2023 and I’ve just purchased it again as we have a bit of a flea infestation and it’s driving me mad!!!!! Keep getting eaten alive by the things , I’ve never had it this bad .. ever! And I’ve had 11 cats for years. Other that ordering alot of frontline plus flea treatment and virbac indoor flea spray which I know works wonders I’m hoping all of it will get rid of the problem because it really is driving me potty
After reading the reviews I felt that I was well prepared to assemble and use this item.
Out of the box it soon became apparent at how gentle I would need to be assembling this product. It wasn’t difficult to put together as such, it just needed care and whilst mine is assembled in one piece, I can see how frustrating it could be, particularly as the instructions on the box do not mention that to insert the light fitting into the lid, you have to unscrew the cap. That done, it was time to insert the bulb..,.or was it?
The bulb is a bayonet type, the construction is not good and there was an ominous click as I gentle inserted it into the holder, pressed and turned. Phew, switched it on and it worked! I didn’t think it would. Why the manufacturer doesn’t use an Edison screw bulb defies me.
It is set up now in one of our rooms. Yes we have a flea problem, which seems common in January 2023. I will update my review if and when we catch any of the little devils.
3 days in and no fleas in the trap, however they are evident on the cat and in our bed room. Some people appear to have success with this item and yes, we have black things on the adhesive pad, however these are from the bulb housing!
