Why do we make iPad Cases?

“Back in 2010 I was very excited to get an iPad. But I realized I was going to be faced with the same frustration I had with the iPhone because it was so difficult to prop up. I looked to see what iPad Cases were already out there and they completely lacked functionality. As an inventor/entrepreneur & perfectionist I decided I would do whatever it took to create the best & most innovative case in the world. My passion for inventing and technology was even more fuelled by the doubters that laughed and said we couldn’t do it. Now 7 years later we have left the competition in the dust and are still on the pursuit of improving and creating a case with the perfect balance of esthetics and functionality to be the King of iPad Case Innovation.” – Founder Tim Angel

**Update: a couple weeks later** Docked one star because my only complaint is that the sides of the case aren’t super secure. If I pick ip up near the edges, the edges of the case kind of pop off. Other than that, I still love the sleep feel of the case.**

My Logitech case with keyboard was understandably a bit bulkier due to the keyboard. Recently a corner snapped off, which required me to look for a new case. I never used the keyboard so I decided to go for a keyboard-free case. I tried a couple that were in the $20-30 range and they were really awful quality (flimsy materials, the holes weren’t cut to line up right, etc) with toxic chemical smells that wouldn’t go away. This case is 100% worth the price. It feels so high quality, the magnets are strong and it securely holds the ipad in place, and the magnets work to make sure when you use the stand, it keeps the ipad held up. I am so glad I took the plunge and got this case!

I bought my iPad Pro 12.9″ v2 when it first came out, along with a case which I ordered from Apple (although not an Apple case). After 4 years, the case no longer allowed me to stand my iPad upright, something which I often do, so I needed a replacement. It seems that good quality options for this model are no longer easy to find, so I was pleased to eventually track down this case.

I wish I’d found this case when I first bought my iPad, as it’s so much better than the case I’ve used for the past 4 years (which in itself, wasn’t that bad). This one though, feels much sturdier than any other I’ve used, plus the stand is way more adjustable. One of the photos attached shows how I’m able to tilt it to make typing this review so much easier.

For me, the only thing that lets this case down (and the reason for losing 1 star) is that the pencil stores in a slot on the rear. This means that with the pencil in the holder, the iPad no longer sits flat on the desk, and if you open the case, it doesn’t open 100% because of the pencil (see my other 2 photos). This wouldn’t stop me from buying another one of these cases, but it does detract from what is otherwise a perfect case, in my opinion.

In summary, you might pay a little more for this case than some others on the market, but I believe it’s money well spent.

This has to be the best case currently on the market for the iPad Pro 2

This is so worth the money. I have hung it off my range hood in the kitchen (not what they describe as a function but magnet is so strong it works great!) also stuck to fridge!
My main use was to have it stand almost entirely upright on a table and it does this with ease and complete stability.

    BEST INVESTMENT FOR IPAD PRO!

The wide range of stand positions is convenient and the strength of the magnets supported the IPad Pro 12 indeed on the refrigerator door. The pen pouch at the back though needs to be cared. Can be easily punctured if you jam the pen in there too far. The hole diameter for the headphone jack needs to be increased a bit for some jacks to be fully inserted.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI ordered this case based on the reviews, it was expensive and I did not want to spend that kind of money on a case however I ordered it based on the other reviews and I was not disappointed I really do like it and I would order it again so if you’re on the fence trying to decide between this and another case spend a little bit more you’ll be very happy with it it makes it way more comfortable for those hours of playing with your iPad

Bought this primarily to facilitate a comfortable angle for drawing, but lately have used it a lot as a set up in the kitchen to watch videos (not on my fridge, even though it’s advertised. I’m scared lol). Way sturdier sitting upright than one of those faux leather folio cases we have for an earlier iPad. Material shows some finger smudges, but I’m not concerned. I’m really happy with the functionality.

I was between this one and the UAG military grade case. After reading some reviews, I decided to take a chance on this one, even though it was double the price *crying* but overall, I feel it was worth it. Both cases seem to be rated well, and I guess it depends on which specs you care about the most. One detail that stuck out to me was the ease of putting the case on and removing it. I have had industrial cases on my phone that have been the cause of much frustration if I ever wanted to remove it to clean. This one is a breeze.

Edit: The adjustable angles on this case have been awesome for drawing wherever I am – couch or desk.

The rubber frame that holds the 12.9″ iPad is much better than the hard plastic that my previous cases used. After a few drops, no breaks whatsoever (I went through 2 other cases that constantly cracked and broke). I also like the magnets to hold the stand up rather than the Velcro of my previous case. The built-in elastic Apple Pencil holder is good, too, though it does tend to stretch a bit over time (still holds the pencil in though).

    Two complaints:
    1) the way the case unfolds, if you set the case down on any non-clean surfaces, that dirty surface touches your screen when you close it back up. My previous case did not do this.
    2) the flexible band between the two halves of the case make the screen fall back when trying to use this on a surface that tilts down and away from you (like, say, a stomach or lap). Extremely annoying.

So: overall: more durable and magnets are good, but some annoyances in design as well.

After purchasing a 2019, 7th gen iPad ZUGUcase for my wife’s iPad 7th gen, I found myself really impressed with the overall design and quality of this case so much, that I decided to order/purchase one of these for my 2015/2016 iPad Pro, to replace my Ztotop case which has some problematic design and material issues.
The materials of the ZUGUcase seem very tough and very “grippy”.
I do not feel like my hands would slip away from the case when holding it, either with one or two hands.
I found the proper ZUGUcase on Amazon only selling for $30, instead of the normal $65-$70 price range.
It only came in the black color, but the price was right.
I really do not like black for some things, but,
I have a gold iPad Pro with gold stylus, so the places in the case where the gold iPad color will show should coordinate well with the black iPad case.

Being that this is a ZUGU case design from 3 years, ago, there are some design differences/missing design elements in this earlier 2015/2017 iPad Pro case version that I liked in my wife’s 2019, 7th gen iPad case.
For starters, the side rails ( in landscape orientation ) of my ZUGUcase are much softer material than the sides of my wife’s ZUGUcase.
So, the softer material pulls away from the sides of the iPad much too easily when grabbing the iPad with one hand from those sides!
The corners and top and bottom rails ( again in landscape orientation ) hold very well, but the other two adjacent sides just pull away too easily.
I feel this is not a good design feature, but because of the generally great design and build quality of this case, I am going to try and live with material/design flaw and see how I “deal” with this flaw.
    Next.
Only cutouts for all of the side control buttons instead of built-in, raised buttons that my wife’s ZUGUcase has.
No ventilation holes/slots in the back of my iPad Pro case.
My wife’s ZUGUcase has ventilation slots to allow heat dissipation and cooling.
Do not know how the lack of ventilation openings in the back of my my iPad Pro case will affect my iPad Pro, long term.
Also, her iPad has protective microfibre padding on the inside of the backcase and the inside of the top lid/cover.
My ZUGUcase only has protective microfibre padding in the inside of the top lid/cover. No protective padding inside of the back cover.
The opening for the headphone jack is too small for my more expensive, higher quality Audio Technica audio closed cans with a mini jack adapter to fit through. So, I will not be able to use these headphones with this iPad Pro case.
I will need to look at/purchase better sounding wired headphones/earbuds, with the mini jack, that will connect through this case.
I really like how the case top lid/cover sits inside the rim/sides of this case and keeps it from moving about while you are carrying/holding your iPad.
Still, a great iPad case for a great discounted price!

First off, this is the best slim case I have owned. The folding magnetic cover design is genius. All all else good except tweaks are needed in one area: The inside edge surrounding the screen.

    1. The lip around the display should be made a mm or 2 taller so when carrying it the cover does not slip back or side to side when it is being carried. Currently when you pick it up the cover slides around a bit. Does not feel secure. Alternatively a strong magnet embedded in the lip of the cover and a small steel plate in the case cover notch would work to secure it. I may retrofit that myself.

    2. The margin around the screen should be wider so it overlaps a bit more. Almost impossible to carry with the case open or pick it up without folding the edge outward. More overlap onto the screen is needed, even a mm or 2 more would help. Alternatively use slightly stiffer material for the case so the edge is not so flimsy around the display.

Despite the minor shortcomings, this case is phenomenal. Glad I took a chance on it.

What I love the most about this case is that it stands up without having to hold it to keep it from falling down. You can keep it on your lap and use the touch pad on your tablet without it constantly tipping over. I like that it can be set at multiple levels. I use it horizontally most of the time. I think it is sturdiest when set up horizontally, but it also stays put in position when set vertically too. The openings for the buttons are right where they should be. When the cover is closed it puts the iPad to sleep like most quality cases do. I have the 12 inch iPad Pro and there were not a lot of companies that had a sturdy case in that size anymore. This case fits perfectly. It snapped in securely around my iPad. I have had it for two months and it still seems sturdy and shows no wear and tear so far. My only complaint is I wish it came in more colors.

This case has been well designed for the iPad Pro 12.9 1st gen tablet. It’s sturdy, holds the tablet securely and is aesthetically very pleasing. It does allow for lots of different angles for viewing plus those positions are very secure because of the design of the case. Just be mindful the case with the tablet is reasonably heavy due to its internal magnets but, this does not really bother me. The advantage of the magnets is that you can hang the tablet on any metal surface, such as a refrigerator, for viewing hands free.
I have noted that the case sit very securely on a table cloth because the part that rests on such a surface is also of a fabric material. As a result if I wish to move the tablet I cannot slide it around but, must first lift it and then move it.
I use my ipad as my defacto computer and therefore use an external keyboard. The combination works very well.
Overall, I am very happy with this purchase.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is the second case I have purchased for my iPad Pro, and this Zugu case is clearly the better of the two. The inexpensive case it has replaced looked tired and worn after just a year of use – whereas the Zugu case appears to be far more durable. The Zugu case was easy to install and has a perfect fit. Its thick soft edge should do an excellent job at protecting the iPad. Its built-in stand works well, and allows the iPad to be placed at a wide range of viewing angles. The pen holding pocket makes it difficult for the pen to drop out accidentally – a problem with many other case designs.
This case has only one (small) downside as a consequence of its design – the soft fuzzy surface that rests on the face of the iPad (when the case is closed) is also the same surface the case sits on when the case is opened and used as a stand. Any dust and dirt picked up by the fuzzy surface (from whatever it is sitting on) eventually ends up on the face of the iPad when the case is closed.

ZUGU has made a solid iPad case that I prefer over the last 3 cases I’ve owned. It is more lightweight and more durable than the Targus cases (my last case). The Apple Pencil elastic holder is perfect. It fits in my laptop bag, together with my laptop computer, without being too bulky or too heavy. And the magnet stand is fantastic for viewing.

I agree with other posters about the following drawbacks:
    (1) The lid-cover tends to accumulate dust on the inside surface, because when it folds over the inside surface faces your table or bed or whatever surface you are placing it on. This could theoretically transfer debris to your iPad screen, although that hasn’t personally happened to me. This problem is easy enough to address, with a lint-roller.
    (2) The edge of the case tends to give a little when you pick it up. It fits slightly loose, I think by design, for easy clipping and unclipping of the case.

I view both of the above to be minor drawbacks. I think the case is great for my needs.

I liked it enough that I bought my wife a ZUGU case (different color!) for her iPad.

This is going to sound like a paid review but I swear it isn’t. In every aspect of what you would want from a cover of this type, this scores 10/10 across the board. It’s sturdy and solid but not off-puttingly heavy. It’s sleek and doesn’t protrude anywhere. It looks and feels premium. But the absolute killer thing is the magnetised, multi-position stand element. This really really really works. You can use it on your lap with 0% chance of slippage or displacement, and when you pick it up to say put it on the table the magnets keep the stand flap in place, so you don’t have it collapsing and making you have to use two hands to fiddle about like with normal covers. This is worth the money all on its own. It would be 11/10 if they could find a way to preserve access to the smart connector – I was using the Logitech Smart Keyboard case which is heavier and clunky, great as a keyboard, not so good as a case. I’ve seen glowing video reviews on youtube which suggest a little foldaway Bluetooth keyboard for use with this case, might give that a go. Anyway, don’t hesitate, this cover is about my eighth iPad cover over the years and none have ever got above 6/10. This is a soaraway 10. Genius.

I was reluctant to buy this case because of its high Price point at least in comparison to what can be found here on Amazon. But once I got it, It changed my iPad experience completely. Having so many angles at which place the tablet is fantastic and allows the iPad and makes me want to use my iPad more instead of my laptop. The quality is superb, and it’s so thin it barely affects the footprint of the iPad, This is literally the only case you should get for the iPad without a keyboard

I have had this case for a couple of months now and use it everyday. It is light and durable. It supports the larger 12.9 inch iPad very well. It still stays wrapped around the iPad tightly even after daily use. The supports in the back contain strong magnets that hold well to the top of the case when it’s folded back over. I am able to easily carry the case in the support position around the house without the supports becoming detached. When closed, the top part has a smooth felt like surface that comes in contact with the screen. This is still in good shape even though it comes in contact with the resting surface when the case is in the support position. The case hasn’t gotten too dirty yet either with smudges, dust, dirt, etc. I have traveled with this case on many different sized airplanes across the US. I am able to adjust the viewing angle depending on how close the airplane seat fold down table is in front of me or if I have to put it in my lap. It also rests on most bed side tables securely if I watch iPad in bed. Overall, I am very happy with this case and would buy from this company in the future.

I love this case. I have a 12.9″ iPad Pro. While the case alone is heavier that what you would normally want, it’s protecting an almost $1000 device. At least I feel that it is protected! The magnetic cover is great, and stays closed when not in use. I love that when it’s open and used as a stand, you have many angle options. The feet that fit into the indentations are magnetic as well so there’s no worry about it collapsing on you when used. Overall a great case that I would definitely buy again.
    Now, for my issues:
The very top corner of the case accommodates spaces for the Power button and volume button. (pic 2). As a result, that corner is kind of flimsy and often pops out/off.(pic 2) Yes, it simply pops back in, but I worry that with my luck, it will pop off, I’ll drop the ipad and it will obviously hit that corner while it’s unprotected.
I love the fact that consideration was given for a place for the Apple Pencil. It’s made of a spandex material, but I’m concerned it will poke through the bottom. I would also LOVE if the top of the pencil sleeve had some cover/flap to protect the pencil from falling out, but especially moreso, for accidentally losing the pencil cap (charger end).
Either way, I’d definitely buy this case again when it’s to. Or the newer improved option.

    I actually love this

Kinda wish i had bought this purple case before it got remodeled because i kinda prefer how case looked when i bought black one 2+ years ago, that one was thiner around ipad making it not as bulky looking, not that this one is too bulky but, since i have a white ipad, the extra black bulkiness around ipad with this current version is making my eyes notice it too much (kinda like when hubby watches wide screen movies, i can’t stand them cause my eyes always see the black part above and below movie as part of movie picture). if i had a black or space gray ipad pro, this case would be perfect for it is actually a better case than first one since corners are 3 times thicker and the other areas about twice thicker and there is actually rubber part on bottom of case now which is the same thickness as what was around three sides/corners on older case version (first version did not have ipad protection on bottom when case was open)..

Am a little disappointed to see there is still the hair & fur loving fabric on cover, i get why fabric is used but, this felt like fabric is so not friendly for those of us with pets!! Also disappointed that there is no longer the strap on back of case on this current version, it was very useful for holding case cover snug to back of ipad when you had it opened to walk around with it, now cover just flops down and that can get irritating.. Everything else is fine, purple color is nice looking in person and like old case, magnets in case are fantastic as always.

These zugu cases really do last a long time, my first one still works like day one with just rubber part on top starting to get a little loose recently but, ipad still stays in case and the only reason i even bought this purple case this week was because my two younger cats decided the mouse on their mouse app was hiding under my ipad when it disappeared and well as tough as this case material is, it is no match for two overly playful young cats trying to find & kill a mouse from under both sides of my ipad with their claws so my black case is not looking so pretty these days because of them..suprisingly however, with all the claw holes they have put on the case, the material has not shredded/ripped because of it, pretty tough material indeed.

my hubby is picky about his cases, i upgraded his ipad air (which he had a zugu case on it) to current 12.9 ipad pro for our anniversary and bought him a nice looking blue case and hmm a couple days after getting it, he asked if i would be upset if he returns it for a zugu case

I got mixed thoughts about this case. I doubted to buy it because its so expensive. I’d bought it because it has a lot of differents viewing angles and not every ipad case have so many, thats like the greatest thing about this case. I got so many options doesn’t matter if im drawing or watching a movie i can have a perfect viewing angle. Holding it feels good, really thin compared to common cases and it looks great too. I didnt gave it 5 stars for two reasons one because im not sure how durable this would be. I only use my ipad at home so im pretty sure it will last me forever but for people who would take it to work or college or simple those who doesn’t take care of their stuff i feel like the borders may not last since they’re too thin and the secong reason and the bothersome is that the microfiber (?) that it has on the inside picks so much particles and cat’s hair and its so annoying, i know is soft for the screen but it may pick something harmful to the screen and im worried about that. That is the only thing i actually hate about this case.

I would definitely recommend this case. Take a look at the pictures i took and make your decision!

    Best ipad 12.9 case?

The only one that I have bought that stays up as it has magnetic groves to hold it up at different heights. Well made, and it has a place for my stylus on the back to help me not lose it when not being used. Wish they made it for my iPad mini.

I purchased this case after researching for several days about the best case for my needs. I am a musician so I really appreciate the strong magnets that can help prevent the iPad from falling off of music stands. The magnets are strong and keeps the iPad in a good position for watching, writing, and drawing even at the bottom levels. The case seems well made, all corners are covered, the cover rises above the edge of the iPad screen providing protection. The case is sleek and thin and the cover closes flush and is held in place by the magnets. The size makes it easy to put into briefcases or gig bags and still leave room for other equipment. I cannot comment on durability since I have only had this case a week.

    Cons:
I do notice slight slippage from the case when I grab the very edge of the iPad, but I have used that to reinforce the behavior of getting a more solid grip on my expensive equipment rather than just holding the very edge. The slippage on the side of the case has never left me to feel like my iPad would pop out when holding the case like that or that it would pop out during a fall. But I do have concerns that the case may loosen over time.

The inside cover is also a dust and debri magnet. I make sure that whatever surface I put it on is clean and clean the inside cover with a lint brush.

There is no way to rotate the iPad so I can utilize the stand vertically unless I am attaching the iPad to a magnetized surface.

I’ve had a minimalist cover for my big iPad for about a year, and I’ve never really been too pleased with it. There just wasn’t much there. I’m a lot like George Costanza – I’m very “careful” with money (ok, I’m cheap, what can I say?). I immediately dismissed this case as an option based on the price. However, after looking a several options that were essentially closes of each other, and not too different than the one I was replacing, I re-examined this one, read some of the reviews, and decided to give it a chance. Good move.

There’s nothing too cosmic here – pull it out of the box, remove the shipping foam, insert the iPad. Done.

This offers full edge-to-edge protection, and is significantly more sturdy than the light weight case I had. That’s not to say it’s bulky, just that there’s more material covering the iPad, which is more material to absorb any unfortunate accidents. It also makes it easier to hold. The enclosure includes magnets in the cover for smart on/off, and they give a very positive feedback when you close the cover. And one thing I really like is the slight recess on the right side to facilitate opening – my old cover was visually indistinguishable as to which side was the hinge, and which side actually opened. On this one, the cover has a slight tab that fits into a small recess. This case perfectly aligns the screen cover over the screen, locks it in place, and subsequently makes it easier to open when you’re re ready to get back to your gam…eh, I mean your “work”.

There’s a kickstand on the back of the case that is held in place by magnets when not in use – nice. There are 10 grooves on the lid that provide lots of viewing angle options. They also magnetically hold the kickstand in place – also REALLY nice. Lastly, there’s a small sleeve to hold the Apple Pencil, which I really appreciate.

If you’re on a tight budget, or just don’t see the sense in paying this much for a cover, then by all means, get one of the thinner covers. There nothing wrong with them, and they likely provide adequate protection for most day-to-day use. My second choice was the MOKO Premium Lightweight Shockproof Case. I liked the extra ventilation it provides.

Ultimately, I opted for the $60 case, and thus far, I’m convinced it was the right decision.

My only nit is, as another reviewer stated, when using the kickstand, the material that covers your screen is face down on your work surface. Potentially, it could pick up dirt and grime, and then deposit that on your screen when you close the cover. Just be careful about where you set this up, and you’re like going to be ok.

I did not receive any form compensation for this review. This a a true and accurate description of my experience with, and opinion of, this product. Overall, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this case.

Once I decided I didn’t need a keyboard case I ordered the ZULUICASE for my 12.9 iPad. It has been three months since I received it and I am nothing but happy with it. Yes it adds a bit of weight but, come on, no more weight then the burger you will jam down your throat at lunch. It has flipped forward while lying in bed like I read, but it is silly to say it would break your nose or give you a black eye. What??

I got this case mainly because I needed something that would protect my iPad in a motorcycle saddlebag and hold my Apple Pencil too.
The whole look of the thing is somewhat deceptive to my eyes, but in a good way. I didn’t expect it to be quite as strong as it is. From the pictures it has just a normal, kind of tech vibe to it, and I was surprised by the both the weight and strength of the case when it arrived. It felt like I was getting my money’s worth.

    1) the case is pretty rugged. I dropped my iPad (by accident) from about 3-4 feet and there is no damage to the case or the iPad. The cover never opened and the rubber corners are dense enough to protect the corners of the iPad without being bulky. You really don’t notice them.

    2) IT IS MAGNETIC! The case is full of strong magnets that keep the folding stand firmly in place. This is really important to me. I draw on my ipad a lot and like top have a slight tilt when I draw. Other cases would not always hold the little folding stand in place resulting in an errant paint stroke when the stand would slip and collapse. That does not happen at all with this. This was a huge thing for me and I didn’t fully appreciate this kind of thoughtful, ergonomic design until I actually experienced it. It is very much a case of not knowing what you’re missing and it makes almost everything you do on the iPad that much more comfortable. Word of caution, it will really stick to those metal folding chairs they have at design conferences, etc…
BTW, when the case is closed it automatically puts the iPad to sleep and then wakes it up when it’s opened. This is not a standard thing in all cases, most but not all. Also, since it’s magnetic, you can place the pencil on the case and it will hang out right there. I wouldn’t travel with it that way, but it’s very nice for around the house or office as long as you remember to put it into the special sleeve on the back.

    3) all access points and speakers are unobstructed. I can plug the iPad in to charge without removing the case. I can plug headphones in without removing the case. I can hear out of each speaker clearly. I will have no need to remove the case, unless I need to replace it for some reason. That’s not to say it’s difficult to remove or install–it’s dead easy.

I really like this case and strongly recommend it to anyone looking for something that’s tough but not too bulky. Some may find it expensive but It really is one of the few things I have bought lately that was totally worth the money.

If I had any criticisms on the product, it is a minor one regarding the pencil holder which is basically some sort of stretchy fabric sleeve. It does not look like it’s failing in any way and I doubt it will for some time, but I have a feeling the case will long outlive the fabric.

I had seen this case for sale, and thought it was a bit expensive so purchased a generic one. However, after knocking my iPad off of the arm of my chair on three separate occasions I knew I had made a mistake. I then re-visited this item, and read a large number of reviews, which made me take the decision to take the plunge. I am so glad that I did. This case looks very smart, and does not add that much extra weight, which to me is not an issue. I appreciate all of the viewing angles and know that when I lock it in place, it will stay in place. I have not yet tried to put it on the fridge, using the very strong magnet, but I will do so soon. The only ‘improvement’ I would suggest is where you pull the flap away from the case, to use as a stand, I can see that the edges will/may wear away. Saying that, this is without a doubt the best case that I have ever bought and 100% recommend spending the extra for what is a quality product. It was also a nice touch to let your customer know the backstory of how this case came about, and can only wish Tim more success for the future.

God bless the genius who made this dream into a reality. Now, I wouldn’t suggest this for the exceptionally clumsy or outdoor adventurer because it isn’t a rugged case marketed for bomb tests or whatever. But for just using the crap out of your iPad? Yes. Especially artists and people who like to watch things while frequently shifting positions.

Does it do what it says it will? Yes. Oh yes. These little magnets don’t seem much more than something on a fridge but their hold plus the slight notches and friction of the fabric makes these dudes HOLD. It hasn’t fallen down once with my 12″ screen no matter the angle it’s set on. Plus, it’s such a smooth transition between angles. It really feels intuitive after a day. I’m switching back and forth like a crazy person just because I can. (At first I didn’t like the fabric connection between the two ‘sides’ but now I see how important that flexibility is for rapid position shifting.)

Once you have the options of so many positions you’ll be spoiled forever. Don’t buy this because you want a Fort Knox for your Apple Pencil or because you want to test a sand blaster on the surface of your iPad. Get it to watch tv in bed lying down or to have the perfect angle while reading or to find the perfect wrist support while drawing. Man, I love this thing.

I never do reviews. Ever. Am moved to write one now though as this is soooooo much better than anything else on the market. I’ve had a few cases now, and this is slimmer, softer, tougher and much much more intelligently designed than the others!

I like it so much It’s a tough choice whether I like this or my own children more in fact. This has no downsides – not one. My kids can’t claim that, so it really is a dilemma. Actually that’s not true. I have client meetings every day, and instead of talking about the actual work they want me to do, we end up discussing the iPad case instead. This is time inefficient, but I don’t really feel this is a fair criticism of the Zugu case, so please don’t let that put you off.
The American chap that invented it also tells a compelling story of his journey when it arrives, which is a nice touch. 50odd seems like a lot, but it really isn’t. If you can afford an iPad, you should absolutely be able to afford this. Buy it. Enjoy. Reconsider the kids – they cost more and have some downsides amongst all the obvious good points…

I cannot say enough great and wonderful things about this case! I have searched for over 5 years for a high-quality case that would protect my iPad, give me a solid stand with a variety of viewing angles, that had a strong magnet (to stay closed or in the stand position), and that keeps my screen clean while not in use. Until this case, I had NEVER found what I was looking for.

This is an amazing case! It is durable, the front flap sits flush against the entire screen (keeping dust out while not in use), the magnet is stronger than any other case I’ve ever seen (I can finally not accidentally knock my iPad out of the stand position), the materials are very high quality (look, feel, and smell), the craftsmanship is top notch! This is by far THE BEST iPad case – and I have used ALL the big name brands and most of the high-cost cases. Zugu, you have made a customer for life out of me.

Now, one disclosure – for those looking for a light case – this is not what you want. Durable and strong magnetism means the need for a heavier case, and this case is heavier. For me, this is a fine trade-off though. I’d much rather have a solid, reliable case protecting my expensive iPad Pro.

I have a ZooGue case from a few years ago, still going strong on my iPad Mini4. With the ability to set the viewing angle to anywhere I want, and the material making the bottom non-slip I love it and would never change it on that device.
I searched for the brand when I bought my 12.9″ Pro ane couldn’t find it – but fret not, they’ve just revamped their branding, shortening the name to ZuGu.

I can’t describe how amazing this case is, other than it is worth absolutely every penny of its slightly pricey tag.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI bought this case for a new large ipad. It obviously needed a case (particularly as I want to travel with it), but I didn’t want to spoil it with something unsightly or so cumbersome that it defeats the object. This case is not cheap, but I ordered on the basis of past reviews – even then, I did wonder whether I’d over paid for something that I could have got much cheaper but just as good equivalent of. I’m glad to say I was wrong – this is a brilliant case and well worth the money.

It’s got a really nice look and feel – it’s remarkably thin, but rugged and I won’t have any concerns about transporting it in my laptop backpack. It’s got a slightly rubberised feel to the actual case, with various grooves and cut outs that really fit the sockets, but also give you a bit of grip. The magnetic kick stand is great – really firm and actually magnetically held in place in the grooves of the cover when it’s standing. It feels surprisingly stable, even when it’s almost upright. It’s even got an elastic slot in the back for the pencil. Haven’t got a bad thing to say about it – it’s perfect and I’m really glad I took the plunge.

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersThank you so much for such an amazing case. I get compliments on it all the time. It still looks new after a whole semester of following me everywhere I go night and day. I’ve dropped my 12.9 iPad Pro a few times with this case on it, and neither my iPad nor the case has a visible scratch on it. I just dust off the dust from the concrete, and I’m good to go. I use my iPad Pro instead of a phone, and this case makes that so easy because it just looks like I’m carrying a leather business folder. When I use my iPad in line at the store, this case makes a perfect holder around my carrying arm. When I’m pushing the grocery cart, this case lets the iPad sit in the child slot up top and view the screen perfectly and keeps the iPad snug and sturdy.

As an aside, like I said, I use my iPad instead of a phone, and my T-Mobile SIM card for unlimited high-speed data, and the T-Mobile Digits app for phone calls and Android texting over data instead of a cellular signal, and iMessage and Facetime voice or video for better call quality than a cell phone anyway with my friends that have iPhones, Macs, and iPads. I have the Digits and iMessage apps on my desktop also to continue my texts seamlessly when I’m at home or at the office. A real keyboard for texting is even better than the iPad, but the iPad Pro 12.9″ is still amazing. LOL.

Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersI have had my Zugu case for about a month now, and have been extremely impressed with it. It truly just works. The things I like most are the all-around protection it offers the iPad, as well as the sleek design, built-in Pencil holder, and the magnetic stand. This will keep your iPad nice and safe and yes, you can even stick it on your fridge if you want (handy when you’re cooking and need to review a recipe, kind of useless otherwise). The only minor gripe I have is that the “flap” that faces the screen is covered in an almost velvety material; unfortunately, it also forms the base when the iPad is setting on a table. Thus, it tends to pick up debris, crumbs, etc pretty easily. Not a huge deal at all, but I wish there was a way around it. Nevertheless, I think this is absolutely the best iPad Pro case on the market and would highly recommended it. Although it’s probably not as heavy duty as some others, it is a very good value for the money versus more expensive cases from Otterbox or Lifeproof. Also, if you’re that worried about it, you probably need to get a big, beefy case anyway. This one feels like it will travel in an airplane overhead bin very well and that is all I care about. Recommended!

Golden Review Award: 27 From Our UsersPurchased this for my IPAD Pro 12.9 in. Ordered and received the same day. Item very well packaged. As for the case, I argued with myself as there was another much less expensive and had a protective shield for the front of the IPAD. However, my final choice of the Zugu was based on protection and functionability of the case. First, after unwrapping the package (which was nicely done), I noted there were no instructions as to how to set the IPAD in place. As I am notorious for NOT reading instructions anyway, I played with the case for about a minute and then figured out how to place the IPAD. Placement was simple, easy, and took about 30 seconds. Noted is that the edges of the case protect the edges of the IPAD quite well which will go a long way in protecting from accidental run-ins with objects that could damage the screen or unit. Also noted, openings for the off switches, speakers (2 openings), charging port and USB connector were well protected but large enough for even my large fingers. Finally, I tried the adjustable stand. The description of the unit shows 10 positions that the IPAD can be placed. My initial thought was “this is a bit of overkill”. However, after several hours of use, I noted that this so called overkill was actually a blessing as it allowed me to adjust the screen to my viewing angle based on the surface the IPAD was on. The stand is magnetic and holds in place surprisingly well. Finally, as for the cover, when I first used it, it didn’t seem to want to completely cover the screen. The problem? Dummy here did not have the IPAD completely in place as one corner stuck out a bit and was not completely seated in place. Once solved, the cover went completely over the screen and magnetically (nice touch!) held in place. The cover itself is NOT made of leather and instead of a material that, as its description states, is Mercedes like material. I take this to mean almost indestructible rubberized something-or-other. The case supposedly will withstand a drop of 5 feet and still protect the IPAD. I DO NOT intend on trying this as if I drop my IPAD my accident I will certainly be trying to catch it before it hits the ground and thus take at least some of the impact away. But just dropping to test it out? NOT in this LIFETIME especially after what I paid for the IPAD and knowing that if I did try it, the hospital bill for my heart stoppage would be quite high. As for the price of the Zugu, once I saw the price as compared to the other unit I looked at, I thought it to be too high for what I needed. But then I thought; what did I want most from a case. I wanted screen protection, protection from accidental bumps or drops, some protection from the weather, and most of all, nothing covering the screen that would impede my screen use. The Zugu has it all and I must admit that it took me about half a day to realize I made the best choice to protect my IPAD Thus if you can afford an IPAD, then spend the extra $$ for a case that will protect your investment. This is a definite 5 star item and a RECOMMENDED BUY.

Overall, I really like this case. I spent many days and many hours poring over hundreds of iPad cases. None that suited me perfectly. So, I ended up buying two. This one, the ZUGU, without attached keyboard, and a SNUGG with attached keyboard and 360 swivel. The ZUGU feels great in your hands. It’s light, but feels sturdy when everything is closed up. One of the features I love the most, besides the protection it provides, is the incredible number of ways I can angle my iPad. I hate glare on the screen. The screen can be placed almost at 90 degree which eliminates glare.

It feels pretty sturdy when sitting on a tabletop or on my lap. When my 8 yr old son uses my iPad, I feel more at ease knowing this rubbery case is surrounding it. However, carrying it in its open position is a bit precarious. I have a few negative things I want to point out.

The bottom flap that helps support the iPad screen (and acts as the screen cover) is not as rigid or sturdy as led to believe as in the video where it is flung on the couch. You definitely need two hands to carry the 12.9 inch iPad pro in this case. Also, the edges that rest on the border of the iPad slip off relatively easily if you try to grab iPad with one hand. Not only that, the loose flap between front cover and rubbery case causes iPad to slip back and forth while carrying it. But, minor issue.

ZUGU case is the only case I trust to protect my iPad Pro whenever my son is using it. Thanks ZUGU.

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersI don’t spend much time writing reviews and only do so when I’m either very impressed or very disappointed with a product. This is a very-impressed review. There is a reason that this case has a solid, average five-star review with nearly 700 customers commenting. This is a fantastic case! It does add some weight because of the 12.9 size, but it is as compact as can be and very well constructed. Yes, it’s a bit expensive, but it’s well worth it. No, it doesn’t have a keyboard, but there are lightweight, compact, bluetooth keyboards you can buy that do the job. Besides, with the ten different, solid positions the onboard keyboard works well enough, and I don’t like onboard keyboards. The case protects the iPad very well, too. The case is convertible so you can fold the cover back flat, although if you’re storing the Apple Pencil on the back it won’t lay flat (so put the pencil in your pocket). And it sticks to metal surfaces solidly. Overall, this is a solid case for the 12.9 iPad with very few minor drawbacks and well worth the price. In fact, I’m so impressed with this case that I forgot that I paid a premium for it, although it definitely exudes class. You will not regret buying this case.

Awesome product! Using it for my day to day sale activities. It looks professional and offering good angles view when presenting products on iPad. The pen holder is very useful too.

I love this case. The magnetic parts make it hold any position easily. Even if you are drawing on it pressing hard. It’s very sturdy and doesn’t add a lot of bulk to the iPad. I’ve only had it a week or so but it seems very sturdy and well made. The only minor things I would change or add are: 1. The pen holder feels like it is going to weaken over time. I’d have liked it to be made out of something else maybe with a magnet opening to keep it closed and secure. Don’t get me wrong it works well now. I just worry about the future. 2. I miss the ability to rotate the ipad from landscape to portrait. Some apps only work in portrait and the tablet makes using them harder. I know it would add some bulk to add a swivel but I’d accept that extra bulk for the functionality. 3. A fastener when it’s closed. I know there is a magnet but I’ve grabbed the tablet and almost dropped it a few times because the flap released and opened up. All 3 are super minor and I have to say this is by far the nicest tablet case I have ever had for an ipad. Totally worth the price. So glad I got it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSTOP LOOKING AT OTHER CASES!!

This case is the best of the best for its class!!! ZUGUCASE really is the Rolls Royce and Bentley of the cases!!! And their customer service its among the best too!

The quality of this case is exceptional, well made from the package till the last part of the product! Te finished quality is really good, I have to say it, the best I have seen in any case product before.

Yes, I know $69 is a lot for a case, but you are really getting the best of the best, no questions ask about it! Read all the reviews and you can see what I mean, and to protect your ipad, an investment from $799 and up, you really need the best protection and stand that comes with this case. It is totally worth it, I don’t think for a chance that you will be disappointed, in fact, I think you like it so much that you will end up giving a review like I’m doing right now, they deserve a good review for the great customer service on their amazing quality products!!

The case fits perfectly on the ipad, and I can say that it looks like a good protection in case of a fall. If that happen I will not worry about it to much when its on the case. The stand is firm, well made, you can type on it and it is steady. I will add some pictures so you can see what I’m talking about when I say this is the best case for ipads, thats it!

GET IT!!! You wont regret it, in fact, you will be mesmerized by this case quality!!!

Golden Review Award: 44 From Our UsersIf you’re like me, you might have your doubts about the price due to the number of cheaper options out there. Stop what you’re doing and buy this case!
You get what you pay for when you purchase protective cases. Do you really want to trust your $1000 iPad (known for its susceptibility to screen cracks) with a $20 case? No, you don’t. Just bite the bullet and pay a little more for something that is so worth the money.

I’ve bought my fair share of cheap cases for previous versions of the iPad. They’re alright, and I’ve never really had many issues with them… but I always had to be careful not to drop them, because I knew the cases I had wouldn’t do that much to keep them from being damaged in a fall. I’m a clumsy person, that was a lot to ask for so many years.

When I got my iPad Pro I knew I needed something better. Like so many people out there, I’m on a budget (the iPad was a gift) and had a hard time biting the bullet and getting a case that’s 3x the price of most others out there. But I did it, and I am SO happy I did.

There are so many things I love about this case — how sturdy the construction is, the magnetic stand so it never slips and falls like all the other cases I battled with over the years, how many angles it offers… you can even use the magnets to stick your iPad to the fridge when you’re in the kitchen; although I haven’t tried it yet the magnets do seem strong. While it’s not a necessity for me, I do like the auto sleep/wake function when you open and close the case.

Bottom line: I trust this case. That’s the most important thing, right?

It’s for me the best iPad Protector / Stand I’ve ever had. Really.

I have looked for ages for something like this. I’m a freelance Illustrator, and I’m very frequently on the road.
I’m very used to draw on cars, planes, trains, – moving, shaking things. And this one stands firmly as hell.
I can put my whole hand weight almost up to the very last position (almost flat).
I like that it’s also not so heavy and it has a pocket for the pen, that way I don’t need to carry it around in some other bag,
just open and start using it.

    Pros:
    1) Lightweight
    2) Very good materials – inside on the screen is soft, around is sturdy, yet flexible plastic – magnets snaps very strongly.
    3) Can be used in many positions – can place it over my lap and draw at the same time – perfect on the go!
    4) Apple pencil holder

    Cons:
    1) It’s just a bit pricy for my taste.

But for all ti gives me, and the quality, it’s ok. – otherwise I’ll have to carry an extra stand everywhere, which I couldn’t place on my lap when needed. anyways.

This is not a cheap-Chinese iPad cover. It’s really well made. You cannot go wrong with this one. If you are looking for portability, flexibility, protection and functionality, this is it!

Look, I’m sure you probably felt skeptical like I did when I went through and saw all these positive reviews – it almost seemed too good to be true, doesn’t it? I almost pulled the trigger on a few other cases, and after receiving the case today – I am 1,000% grateful I bought this one over any of the other ones.

The pictures really don’t do it justice, and it’s hard to explain just how well made this case feels in your hands until you try it for yourself. I have had what feels like a bajillion ipad cases since I had the iPad 1, and none of them come close to how this case feels. The magnets are really well placed and thought out – especially the magnets in the ridges where the kickstand connects in the groove. I feel like I could type on the keyboard as if I was donkey kong and this thing would still stay sturdy.

If I had any gripe (and this is a big “if” because I have none so far), it might be related to two things (I’ll know more about this being a concern with time): the felt inside of the cover looks like it might collect stuff on it when you lay it on a table, and the pencil slot feels like a snug kinda spandexy material that might lose elasticity over time. But again, they’re not concerns now, and there’s a good chance they won’t ever be either.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThe number one factor when deciding between the purchase of either a MacBook or the iPad Pro was the iPad case. If I could not find a good quality functional case for the iPad, my preference, I would be forced to but the MacBook.
After much research I came across the Zugu case. I refer to it as the “Ferrari” of cases, nothing else comes close.
Thank you for this high quality case.

Golden Review Award: 79 From Our UsersUpdated after 12 months:
While I stand by my original comments below, I will say that this cover has really grown on me and have decided to upgrade from 2 to 5 stars. This case has held up with no signs of wear over several months of travel in a stuffed backpack across the country. I really would like for the manufacturer to still work on making a sturdier frame. You really need to use both hands with the 12.9 iPad case. But this is a beautiful case and I’ve recieved a ton of compliments on its looks, especially with the stylus in place. The multiple angles are a major advantage over other cases and I’ve now bought 2 other cases as gifts.

Updated after 2 days of using:
I’m not sure if the other reviews were solicited or not but I am a little surprised at the high ratings.
Full disclosure, I’ve had a competitor case for several years so I am used to heavy duty protection. But I wanted something thinner and lighter and after reading the reviews I bought this. I really wanted to love this Zugu case because it looks awesome.

    Pros:
    1. Much thinner that my old case and WAY easier to put the case on and off.
    2. The magnet is very strong and does indeed held my ipad confidently against the fridge (this is probably what got me to buy this case over others)
    3. The slots allow you to adjust to 10+ viewing angles and the ipad does not budge when you push your ipad. I used it for gaming with no problem at all.
    4. The case itself is stunningly beautiful inside and out.

    Cons:
The two big cons that took away 3 stars for me have to do with the functionality and feel. While these are flaws, you have to realize that the 12.9 Ipad is huge and heavy to begin with. So there are some design accommodations to be considered in creating a case for this size ipad. The below concerns I instantly noticed while doing 2 common things: Picking up my iPad with one hand. Holding/reading my ipad in one hand.

    1. When the cover is folded back so that I can read/use my tablet with one hand, the cover slides quite a bit against the back making it feel like the ipad could slide out of my hand. In addition, the inside of the cover is velvety in texture (looks beautiful btw) so that also makes the traction against my fingers feel like it could slip. Because of the heaviness of the 12.9 ipad, I would like to have much better traction and stability when holding this with one hand as a reader.

    2. Because the cover slides so much against the back you tend to grip the edge hard to stabilize it in your hand (see pics). However the edge of the case has a tendency to pull away from the ipad easily. This makes your thumb rest against the edge of the ipad but also allows the iPad to easily slip out of your hand. In fact, my ipad has now slipped out of my hand twice within 2 days of using this case. I also noticed crud collecting in that area after just a couple uses. Combined with #1 above I just don’t feel confident in this case holding my ipad unless I use two hands.

I recommend this as an excellent case for hands free and screen only use. But I don’t recommend this if you want to hold your tablet in one hand or a lot and I just didn’t feel comfortable holding my $1100 ipad in it.

    My suggestions to the maker:
Make the edges stiffer or even thicker.
Find a way to secure the cover to the back of the case when held so that it doesn’t slide around so much. Maybe a stronger magnet or use the grooves somehow.

    2nd Update:
I loved this case when I first got it, but it started to come apart at the tab within about a month. I updated the original review noting this. The seller saw this and asked me to send photos of the damage. I did, and within days, I had a new case.

It is not possible to avoid all problems, so any seller should be judged more on the way they respond when problems occur. In this case, it was stellar. I did cover the tab on the new one with heavy-duty shipping tape trimmed to fit. It is not unsightly, and it makes it much less likely to split.

    1rst Update:
I was so pleased with this in December that I gave it five stars. January is not yet over, and the plastics as completely separated at the tab, continuing to split apart along the seam. In retrospect, I should have expected that. Unlike other types of cases, you have to open it by the tab, not a corner, as the back cover forms a frame around the iPad, and the front cover is smaller and fits inside that frame. The center tab is is the only way to open it.

The design is still good, but for $70, it should last longer than five weeks.

    Original review:
This is a great case! It has most of what I wanted, and does it well. The kickstand in the back is held in place magnetically, and does not collapse. There is a wraparound frame that adds considerable safety. Furthermore, it is not slippery. The only thing I would change would be to add a pocket to hold receipts until I enter them. This very nicely made for the money.
