Keep in mind that the K240 MKII is essentially a 35 pair headphones. It’s the same as the K240 Studio, but it comes with a change of ear pads and a coil cable replacement. I’d recommend this over the K240 Studio just for that coiled cable.
The only slight downside, I’d say they feel like cheap plastic, but it doesn’t matter, they’re great for long listening and sound fantastic.
Not going to compare the sound to more expensive headphones, because that would be a bit pointless. I will say if you get these and you make music, you won’t be disappointed, they’re very enjoyable.
As described. Comfortable fit.
Use only for TV …sound quality good
Great headphones perfect for making music with, great depth of tones.
Very comfortable. A little lacking in volume but otherwise great.
Perfect for producers as the sound profile are pretty flat. I like the design as well. It includes another earpad and cable. I dont recommend this for casual users though. It fits well in my ear and not too heavy. But your ears might hurt in an hour or two.
Very flat response, great for producing music, listening to music (if ur used to the flat sound of the headphones), maybe even mixing music, use these all day and only paid about 30 for them. Would 100% recommend around a similar price point. 100% would reccomend over the Samson sr850 which does not come with a detachable cable, and has very bright highs and a almost fake low end response (they are great for just gaming and listening to music though).
U might be put off by them if you’ve been using basic consumer headphones all your life (due to their flat response and lack of a thumping bass which is found on most headphones around this price point.)
I also am unsure where the criticism about the bass comes from. I like everything from dubstep and trance to jazz and metal and can’t complain. If you like your bass high enough to sound like it is being played through a duvet then you won’t be happy, but you also can bump them up with an equaliser (boo hiss heratic).
They aren’t without their faults they do leak a bit of sound, everyone thinks I have the volume up too high, its more like the sound you got from Walkman headphones if you are old enough to remember. I also found i need a big pocket for the cable which is pretty substantial. If you do wear them outside even a slight breeze sounds like a gale. However I would suggest if you are umming and ahhhhhing they will be worth your money and far better than some of the more well marketed brands. There is a reason why they have been around for as long as they have.
For the price I got them at, good grief. Girlfriend is loving them for her wee home studio.
The best budget studio headphones you can buy! Excellent for mixing! Cus they are open back, I’d get some closed back ones if you are looking to use them for recording but for mixing, they are amazing!!!
Great value for money….good sound quality for a closed headphone of this type. Very comfortable. Nothing negative to say at this price (or three times the price). Bought for the quiet hours when open headphones are a non starter; does the job very well. A bargain.
Bought these for bass practice. Excellent low range sharp mid and crunchy highs, fabulous. Also, open back so no damage to ears from pressure. I highly recommend. Slight sound leakage because of the open back design but better that than ultimate deafness. Family also approve, although still laugh as I bound through the house silently banging away to Deep Purple and the like. Terrific stuff.
great value for money.
wait, no.
more value than you would expect for that amount of money.
the most honest, clean sound, and i could (and do) wear them for hours in a row without the slightest discomfort.
not the best for travelling with, however you should expect that from studio headphones. AKG do, however, make equally good wireless headphones which would suit travelling more.
I have been using these for music production for several months and the sound, comfort, durability, and price are exceedingly good. Would be my first recommendation for anyone buying studio headphones on a budget.
I use these for mixing my tracks. The sound is nice and flat and would be perfect if it wren’t for the bass being a bit too quiet. Even from a music production perspective, the bass is slightly too quiet. But this shouldn’t be a big problem as a good producer has reference tracks and checks the sound on different systems. If it weren’t for the small bass issue you could get away with mixing and mastering a track only using these and these alone.
The pads aren’t the best so i’d advice buying beyerdynamic 990 pads to fit on.
These headphones have tremendous clarity and a wonderful midband.
Not for EDM, but if you like music played on real instruments by real people these are hard to beat.
Fantastic sound quality , i use them for my Guitar and recording excelle
I use these mainly as practice headphones on my bass amp. It has a very good neutral sound quality, unlike the ghastly headphones by Beats, which are pushing the bass too strongly.
> Outstanding value for the money
> Beautiful natural sound – no exaggerated booming bass, very crisp and sharp treble without being piercing – very dynamic sound throughout.
> Excellent build quality
> 2 detachable cables is certainly a plus
very good sound quality and separate coil cable and easy swap is a nice bonus as I’m using it with my guitar amp and pc so no need to reach for the plug every time . remember this are flat response not equalized dr beat c.ra.p or whatever it’s called. thanks
You get two sets of pads with the K240 mkii and two cables – the coiled cable is handy and keeps out of the way better that a straight cable. I found both sets of pads pretty uncomfortable and today replaced them with a 15 thicker pair – the NSEN ones are 10 and look much the same. For 65 all up they feel like remarkable value.
They seem to be a bit less efficient than my other headphones – currently on 209 on a DX90 when I’d normally play at 190-195.
The title says it all – if you’re on a budget and you need a pair of open backed cans to mix down your studio projects then these refurbed AKG 240 are for you.
Good sound ( not bass heavy ) but tends to get a bit sweaty after quite short time.
I like them. They wouldnt last long in a professional studio. But who is spending this little amount for a pro set up? These are extremely good value home studio headphones. They are a bit flimsy, but as long as you are not tripping over the wire every 5 minutes, or throwing them around I don’t see the issue.
Gaming or listening on them with others in the room is not going to work. But again, THESE ARE OPEN BACK – read the description! You need to use open-back headphones to get a better sense of the mix. They WILL leak sound, a lot. That is what open-back headphones do. Do not buy them if you want to keep external sound out, and your music in. Buy closed back if you need that!
Ranking these as 1 star because you ordered the wrong type of headphone is not fair. There are a number of people on here who have done that.
I say, for a home-based studio on a budget, go for it. Handle them with respect and they should last you.
Don’t ask me to quote any specs – they sound fantastic (so do their mics) – these earphones are comfy and the chord can be replaced with a replacement if needed – I’m a new fan of AKG gear – fab!
The teenager hasn’t complained about them so I assume they’re perfect.
I purchased these to use in the studio and for a cheap pair of cans they are great. The work as designed and have a very flat frequency response, these are studio headphones for mixing not mini bass bins for listening to you iPod with.
At this price you can’t go wrong
Using the phones with the curled cord and everything is great. Using the adaptor or straight cord on you’re lucky to get one channel with terrible receptio
Bought this for my son to plug into his guitar amp when I can’t bear to hear the practice. It was a recommendation on a website I used to research these things. The recommendation was based on: Strong high and mid frequencies;
Supersized transducers allow a more accurate response; Budget-friendly. The negative points were: The bass can sound a bit explosive at loud volume; The impedance might be low for studio use.
My impressions were it was good quality and very comfortable, with a nice long lead to plug in to the amp.
These are great reference headphones that improved my mixing however I felt there wasn’t enough volume. The build feels fairly cheap
I’ve not had these that long but have now listened to a reasonable range of music. I use them to listen to music played from CDs through a HiFi system at moderate volume reclined on my recliner while nobody is around to interrupt my listening. These headphones certainly have a detailed and balanced sound, but the bass is sometimes a bit boomy or resonant, which is not ideal. Regarding ease of use, I like the single straight cable but I don’t find these headphones particularly comfortable. My ears aren’t really accommodated in what are supposed to be an “over-ear” design and although the cushioning feels soft enough when handled, when being worn these headphones lack sufficient adjustment to make them really comfortable. Overall, I like the detailed, balanced sound but the resonant bass and moderate comfort mean that I’ll be looking for something slightly better in the near future.
WARNING: These are semi-open backed headphones, so they’re home-only numbers, unless you want everybody around you to hear what you’re listening to. They’re loud, but not obnoxiously so, to everyone else around you.
Used for around 10 hours a week, I’m a presenter on a community radio station, so they get plenty of use. Up to now, they are suitable.
I’m amazed they don’t cost more. Pared with tube headphone amplifier they do magic. Play any type of music and let them play! And joy of joys how they do it! Let’s start with high range of voices. Flower duet and woman’s soprano / Mezzo soprano shows how great are they.
Mid range with one of the best examples Eddie Vedder. Alive / Black from Pearl Jam work amazing. How great is to listen to guitars, drums and his voice. Great, warm, soft.
Lower range and bass. Try hardcore trance / prog trance / Goa. My fascination with European rap / hip hop scene and I’ve choose Bushido to tests. And you know what? Bass doesn’t go deep, it doesn’t make your ears to drop off your head. It’s good to listen to. Doesn’t gives headache. I love it.
Fitting on your head is dead easy. I’ve got big head with loads of hairs and they fit easily.
If anything I don’t like it’s the cable. Bit too long if you planing to use with smartphone. But it’s ideal for usage with headphone amp like I do.
Extremely good set of drivers! They feel so light on your head I almost forget they’re there, that and the open back literally feels like I’m not wearing headphones. Being studio reference these headphones are perfect for me. So easy to put on and so well made. 100% reccomend swapping to the velvet covers that come with them.
I’ve heard other comments that the bass is underwhelming. I seriously disagree. These headphones offer such a clean, flat response across the frequency range for people who’d rather listen to the full range on offer and not just artificially boosted bass. Comfortable too, and I like the different cable options. Very impressed.
Nice flat response that have improved my mixes by leaps and bounds. If you’re on the fence, don’t be.
I read some people complaining about the bass. If you’re expecting big bass like Beats headphones, you’ll be disappointed. Beats are not flat response headphones and are tuned to increase the bass. These are for mixing/mastering to give you a true reflection on the sound.
These are awesome. Especially for their purpose as studio headphones.
Buy them.
I have the 240 MkII (bought in 2008) and still love them to bits. I recently purchased this for a family member and the sound quality is great. At a price around 40, I might get another pair. Can’t see why would someone spend more when you can have this top quality at this price. I wish they came with a coil lead and a second set of ear cushions like my 240 MkII did.
I use these primarily for home recording and am very pleased with them. They are comfortable and the sound is clear and uncoloured.
These headphones are flat to my ears. Thus they are a good choice for mixing.
It’s really confortable and sounds good.
What I don’t like is the bass is not as strong as I was expecting and the headset is really huge, so you can’t carry it in your bag.
But if you want to use it at home or in the office and also hear the people around you, highly highly recomment it.
Nothing seems strained, harsh or pushed with these headphones, providing an astonishingly clean and level response.
They’re also light and very comfortable, even after the 2 hour session I just had while trying them with various inputs covering solo piano, piano plus orchestra, solo voice – bass, tenor and soprano – cathedral choir, solo pipe organ both sweetly fluty and French reeds roaring: everything so clean and sparkling clear to the extent that a faint hum is clearly audible on a “professional” recording.
Definitely recommended.
Weirdly long lead. Blocks out lot of the noise in the office. Nice they turn off when not being worn. Comfortable to wear all day.
Dynamic, transparent and musical. In my honest opinion these headphones will challenge far costlier alternatives.
Excellent headphones and great sound and quality-AKG have produced a pair that represent excellent value for the money indeed 🙂
Comfort wise, these feel very enclosing, yet not entrapping. If your in a room with other people (and your music is not turned up to 100) you can tell what is going on. Also, as they are semi-open, you can hear everything everyone says when no music is played. They come with velour/velvet earpads, that are very comfortable, compared to the leathers, and provide a more encompassing feeling. They are also washable, which is a plus if you hate dirty leather pads. When placed around your neck, they dont feel particularly sharp or intruding, an added plus.
They will most likely feel very weird, if you come from a bass heavy headphone (Audio Technica ATH series for example) but you can get used to it. For producers, they pick out errors in mixes, and (for consumers too this) they definitely define the difference between a badly mixed, well mixed, and greatly mixed track.
I did purchase at around the same price, a so called “Monitor” set of headphones. I found them to be very bass heavy and problems with the cable connections. They were not what I would regard as “monitor” quality, they were returned. From reading various reviews, I selected the AKG.271 headphones. I am delighted with them. To me, they have a very natural sound and that is what I was looking for. In addition, I like the auto switch that turns off the sound when you remove the headphones. The closed back is also a good feature. I find them comfortable to wear, even in hot weather for over an hour.
Appear to be nicely made. Not sure why reviews are so enthusiastic though. Still, not the most expensive headphones in the world are they.
Partner very happy he can now turn his guitar amp loud without getting nagged whilst I can still listen to his playing at a nice normal volume
I love these headphones, theyre good for music productions and general listening as well, really nice sound stage and clear sound, they are 100% worth the price in my opinion and much better than the over advertised competitors that charge more.
Yes other people in the room can hear your music so not the sort of headphones you want to wear riding public transport. No outside noise leaking in even when the other half was banging on about something. Just smile and nod while Faith No More take you to your happy place.
I listen to bass heavy music, the sound is very good with much more power than my 15 year old Technics…obviously. They even make the ipod Classic Touch sound bareable so they’re alright by me.
very pleased with product however a string was loose on the one of the ears and it got caught and forged a whole in the seam of the padding. Very good quality headphones, would definitely recommend for home studio recordings
Great quality sound. Though if you’re looking for headphones that feel a bit more solid and hardwearing it’s not these. Amazing sound but they feel a little flimsy compared to my Beats Solo 2. Would recommend though because the sound is just as good.
Great sounding headphones and comfortable to wear. You get two types of earpads either plain sponge or leather effect and two cables a normal cable or a coiled cable.
With my old Sony headphones the audio from my mixer sounded very bassy and lacking in high frequencies, but these AKG K240’s just sound great across the whole audio frequency spectrum.
I Highly recommended the AKG K240 headphones.
Les.
Brilliant headphones to transform ur mixdown! Look sleek and stylish, not so robust but you would take care of them so don’t worry.
Delivery came on time. 5*
It will provide you with the most genuine sound the music should be, just as you need in a studio.
For prolonged use these headphones are comfy, and will enclose my ears instead of partially trapping them, even with my glasses on. I consider my ears relatively average size, so would like to think this would be the case for most people, but it’s worth trying them if possible. They are very secure in my head, I wouldn’t say tight, but hold enough that I can play like a madman on my drums and headbang along without them falling off – which would lead me to think that if they do sit over part of your ear they would get uncomfortable with long periods of wearing.
The cans come with a nice long cable, with your 3.5 audio jack as standard for mp3 players and phones, and a screw in larger phono adaptor for plugging into most other things, including some guitar amps, or my other electric drums =).
In my opinion a very good set of cans for the price, and I would definitely recommend to drummers or other musicians due to their isolation, and nice long, sturdy cable and option of phono or standard 3.5 jack. A high recommendation from me.
For a bass player, these are great. Leave your ears a bit sweaty after a few hours on a hot day, but comfortable.
not so good playing guitar when I have to bend over to adjust settings on foot peddles as they tend to slip a bi
Superb headphones bought for working on fine detail on studio mixes. Very smooth and flat, and therefore realistic, audio reproduction across the entire spectrum no noticeable emphasis. Usually I always get the bass end wrong when mixing on headphones but not with these! very pleased!
Great headphones, wonderful for mixing, with excellent responses. Dynamic range is extraordinary and adds little colour to the audio enabling a truer mix. Brilliant for the average music listener, excellent quality. AKG All the way for me!! 10/10
With that now said if you are looking for refrence headphones then these are proven over years being used as standard in all studios because they are made for the job.
Comftable, detailed sound , replacable lead and look great.
If you are looking for refrence headphones for mastering in this price range buy them they out perform any other in this price range and higher.
Very nice product. Overall sound quality is exceptionally good though bass is not deep. Good headphones for both male and female vocals. The cable is ridiculously long.
Very comfortable with the extra velour earpads, even fits my big head. Bass is not hyped nor thin(I play bass via DI and monitor on these sometimes) , these aren’t meant for music enjoyment, they are meant for mixing, the all important mid-range is nice and clear. Extra cable also comes in handy. International shipping was nice and fast.
The cable is huge! But can be replaced if you need to. Great sound quality. Very comfortable can wear them for hours and not have any bother.
The good: The cord is replaceable and long. The headphones mute when you take them off (genius). Super comfortable with the velour pads, big cups and flexible headband. Super robust. The sound quality is good enough. Isolation is excellent and others will be protected from your music.
The meh: The sound quality is good enough. You can get better sound with open headphones and more expensive closed headphones, but you will be hard-pressed to find the same all-day comfort.
The bad: These are not for the fashion conscious. I bought them for a relative who found them bulky and weird but four years later she still wears them while using her computer. That’s because of their amazing comfort. They couldn’t be fashionable headphones without sacrificing what makes them great. Don’t wear them walking around in public as you look like a spaceman with them on.
This is probably the best headphones for the price out there. I’ve owned the previous model from AKG and it wasn’t that good.
I am really happy with my purchase. Oh, and in comparison to my old AKGs this thing is featherlight.
i have both these and the audiotechnica m50x, and these are infinitely better sounding, and way more confortable. Only downside is that the AT achieve a higher volume with a portable device, but on a laptop this difference disappears. Want to compare with the behringer in the future
A lot of leakage compared to other semi-open headphones, they are just as loud standing next to them a a fully-open set, but for comfort and sound quality and price you can’t go wrong. The closed back AKGs might be an option if sound leakage is an issue but there might be some compromise in sound quality (I presume,, I’ve not tried them). That said, I’ve seen photographs / video of Queen and John Lennon using the original version of these, semi-open, for vocal takes.. so if good enough for them, who cares about a little extra over spill! Probably not worth worrying too much about.. Sounds great for monitoring electric guitar and bass. For production might want to consider the AKG reference, fully-open option for flatter response. Saying that these are a pretty flat response, good natural sounding and clear definition between instruments and the sound is big and wide. A great product and fast delivery.
They are comfortable and do self adjust nicely.
The stitching around the earcups do make them look slightly tacky though.
Other than that I would absolutely recommend these headphones. I owned a pair of Sennheisers in the same price range a while ago and I would say these top those in build and sound quality. Good value for money.
Nicely made headphones with a muscular ‘night club’ style bass and warm treble.
Are these faithful or accurate sounding headphones? No, but they’re a lot of fun for those who like powerful, bass driven music.
Excellent headphones, only problem was the cord broke which was disappointing but a 5 fix. Would buy again.
Most people in my office ask why I bought this instead of the apple brand, but then I show them the sound quality and they rant 🙂
great sounding head phones for mixing… also they turn off when you remove them from your head.
I appreciate the inclusion of a 1/4″ adapter which goes well with my digital keyboard.
BRILLIANT PERFECT SOUND , AKG DELIVER TRUE QUALITY PERFECTION , JUST NEED CAREFUL OF THE CABLE THIS ARE GREAT HEADPHONES FOR RECORDING STUDIO , NOT FOR TEAR AND WEAR OUT AND ABOUT !
Excellent build and sound quality. Very comfortable and blocks out outside noise rather well, could be a little less cumbersome but worth it for such good sound.
Sound is extremely good, especially for the price. It is exactly what it says on the tin – balanced and accurate. Trebles, mids and bass are all reproduced well and neither exceed nor lack in any area. The bass increase setting on my FiiO E10 works very well for when you want a more bassy sound – but it sounds great normally.
The sound is very clear and many details in your music will be brought out. I was surprisingly impressed by the sound stage which is quite large and airy, probably due to the semi-open design. You don’t feel the music is inside your head which is something I personally dislike. This also means that those nearby will hear your music, so bear that in mind. It’s not noise cancelling either so you will be able to hear your surroundings.
At 55ohms impedance it’s fairly easily driven. It’s comfortably loud at half volume on low amplification setting on a Fii0 E10. It doesn’t need an amp for most situations but a good headphone amp will certainly bring the best out of it. Everything is clearer and generally better.
It’s very comfortable to wear, one of the most comfortable headphones I’ve tried. It is very light and does not strongly clamp your head. It feels like you could wear it all day.
Build and design is fairly good. It’s not particularly pretty but it’s for listening to not looking at. It feels a little flimsy and feels it could break if twisted or pulled too much, but this shouldn’t be a problem if you look after it. It doesn’t creak however and feels generally well made – it’s just light.
You get a decent length 3.5mm straight cable and a coiled cable. It comes standard with leatherette ear pads and an alternative pair of velvet ear pads. Both are comfortable. You also get a 6.5mm jack adapter.
Overall, highly recommended.
Fantastic. Great value and you can hear all levels. I know it is big but I use it on the plane. Keeps out the noise and is comfortable on the ears for long trips. I also use it for my studio work for more precise listening.
This AKG’s are not expensive compared to sound quality they give. I use them for mixing, video editing, background music listening and dedicated music listening. I plug them on my Smartphone to listen to the radio station, iPod, PC, TV… They give similar quality sound out of any source (even from smartphone which is rather lower quality, and I rarely listened it, before this AKG’s. It’s OK for radio stations though).
CONS: The actual built quality is very fine, but they look like a cheap clone of some premium product. Much cheaper consumer phones I have looks more premium than these. But this is pure aesthetic opinion. Who looks at them while in darkened studio 🙂
PROS (just some of it): I praise mostly the flat response throughout whole spectrum. This is only headphone I have which do not need EQ adjustment.
I like how easy and ‘polite’ sound this headphone produce. I mean they make smooth and pleasant sound even with MP3’s, and I like to listen very complex music through them, which I would never on lower quality phones.
They are comfortable! I’m prone to headache because of headphones, if they are not over ear and big enough. AKG provide vinyl and velour ear pads. I could not decide which are more comfortable. I ended using vinyl on one side and velour on other. I can’t tell the difference. Even after long time sweat is on both side. Maybe a drop less on velour side. But I do not sweat much under these. Opposite to other phones I have. It means great spare ear pads already included 🙂
Cable: There are two of them. Again good. I can change connection on headphone rather than on hard to reach PC output when I work on a PC. Other twisted cable I use for all other uses, because it is shorter. Cable is bulky and heavy compared to consumer products, a bit hard too. But I believe it will last long. But I can always buy new one, since phones have XLR mini connector.
Self adaptive overhead strap is comfortable. I’m bald and very sensitive on top of my head. Most other phones gives me pain after hour or so. I often forget them on while working on PC, even after I’m done with what I listened.
Great product and even Amazon delivery was faster than estimate.
EDIT: After 4 months of usage I must take ONE STAR away from my initial review due to wearing comfort. I do not sweat under either of pads, but head and ears becomes so worm under and I’m prone to get headacke after a while. This is more prominent with vinyl pads. Pads are rather hard and unpleasant on skin. Under ears where no hair grows they soon stick to skin. While velour pads gives me better feel on skin and they worm up inside less, they also have smaller inside diameter (they are thicker padded) which means that they are not all around the ears but presses on my ears at edges which starts to hurt me after while. Workaround is to move them around a bit to “catch” ears inside pads. But that makes another problem: Velour part of pads are heat-glued together with plastic inner part where seams would be in vinyl pads, in the middle of inside diameter. That “seam” is quite hard with sharp edges, so sometimes it hurts me. I wish pads would be made out of better quality or even leather (I would buy upgrade pads if I knew they were better quality).
Other negative is very heavy and sturdy coiled cable, because much of the weight is concentrated on short lenght. Coiled part begins 60 cm after headphone, which is just fine if you sit at the table. Than all weight lays on the table. But soon as you move coiled part falls down and than all weight is on one side of head. I tend to change cable depend on usage. While straight cable is soft and light, coiled one is hard, sturdy and heavy. Probably good for some rough enviroment, but for calm studio work I wish lighter and more flexible cable (as straight is). I still rather use coiled one, because is shorter.
Using this hard cable becomes a problem if connected to some portable device (iPod or smarthpone), because its heavier than device and device tends to fall from desk if cable fells on my knees while seating.
Maybe I’m picky but I found myself that I do not use this phones as much as I thought. Often I use “regular” HiFi phones of I do not mix, because they are more comfortable.
PS: some claims that this phones are hard to drive. That is correct to some level. Fore professional gear there is no problem. But if connected on PC internal sound card, sound will not be powerfull. I own Brainwawz AP001 headphone amplifier. That make whole difference on PC output. And not so much difference in iPod. So it depends on device output. But connecting headphones to good source is revarding.
My new headphones arrived on time and very well packaged. After burning them in, the sound from my Denon DM38 sounded very clear and I could hear sounds that I could not hear on my old Panasonic headphones.
I am very happy and I will use this seller again.
As for the sound they are fantastic- I would say the bass is very subtle compared to some of the headphones I have used (there is a review on here saying that the low end is overpowering- they MUST have been reviewing the wrong headphones) but it works well as it makes a lot more room for mid and high frequencies. I was looking for something fairly flat with regards to frequency response and I think these are ideal, but admittedly I haven’t tried a great deal of pro headphones.
The one real criticism I would have is that your ears get too hot after about 2 hours and you have to take them off for a while- but I don’t know any headphones which aren’t like this. I would definitely recommend these headphones to anyone for their reasonable price, sturdiness (even though they might not seem sturdy to start off with), comfort and well balanced sound.
The Design is simple but awesome, the cable is detachable so if you’re cable breaks you can just buy a new one, the headband is also made ultra comfortable.
With the headphone comes a set of velour pads plus the leather ones on them, it also come with a coiled and straight cable, so that’s a really good package of accessories/extra’s.
The sound is also great, it’s really well balanced, which means if you’re a basshead you shouldn’t buy this, because it’s a balanced headphone with a flat response, really nice for listening to music, gaming and editing of course. i tested the sound without a amp, and i heard this headphone gains a lot from using one, so it can only get better.
Bought these along with a FiiO E10 USB DAC/amp and am completely satisfied. Maybe they don’t hit the lowest of the low in the bass register but what you hear is nice and punchy. Works well with my Onkyo TX-SR875 receiver as well. Good fit, includes extra ear pads and two changeable cables so can’t really think of any complaints.
I am pleasantly surprised of the build quality and the detachable cord. It was always a delicate operation to re-solder the cord on the old ones. I am also pls about volume I get using them with my iPAD Gen3. The sit light on the head and ears and father a short while you don’t even thar you wearing them. The sound quality is excellent as you expect from a AKG product. In summary if you want headphones always take AKG into consideration. I have done and be more than satisfied.
These things are amazing!!!
They are the comfiest headphones I’ve ver worn, they’re so light! I use them for plugging into my bass amp to practice bass guitar quietly, and they do the job brilliantly – I can wear them for hours and they do well even with the lowest of notes. My bass can sound a bit muffled, and these headphones don’t really like that, but I can just change to my settings to a honker sound and they’re fine. They’re really sturdy too; you can twist and shake them, and I’ve accidentally sat on them a couple of times. They don’t break easily.
I spent a fair amount of time deciding upon this purchase. I could very easily have purchased a set of Grados or Beyerdynamics, either of which would (I am sure) have been nice. However, I decided upon these AKGs and I am very pleased that I did.
In this age of disappointing overtly plastic products, I had been concerned that build quality would suffer. Whilst these are still a very cheap set of headphones, the build quality is pretty good. They certainly feel robust – the separate lead is a real bonus in this respect. They are also very comfortable. The sound reproduction is good – with catholic tastes in the past three weeks I’ve listened to pop, noise pop, hard bop, alt-country, sacred and classical music, and been very pleased with the reproduction.
Recommended.
The only thing is that they cut off if you only wear them halfway.
