Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have seen 3000 electronic kits get 3/5 reviews – I guess it’s a different context but the Alesis is ASTOUNDING for the money and an easy 5*. It’s the only electric kit I have played that gets the cymbal clutch and hi-hat pedal right.

We are beginners at drums and are delighted with our purchase.

Astounded by the value for money

I’m not the drummer, my son is. He tells me that this set is not just for beginners but for established players as well.

They were easy to assemble. They sound brilliant to me, unless I try and play them!

He is very pleased with them. They are well worth the money. Brilliant!

These drums are fantastic for beginners. Initially I had some problems with the sound on the bass drum, but after some troubleshooting with Alesis support team that issue was resolved. Great bit of kit for a fantastic price.

I was considering another brand by a company that has been in the biz for a long time and who makes a long line of instruments, equipment, etc. but I settled on the Alesis set and am very happy. I even saved myself about $150 compared to the other beginner set from that other company. I’m a beginner and still learning but I am having an absolute blast with this set. My typical use is connecting an external audio device to the set through the module/computer and try and try to keep up! I’m really happy with the mesh heads too as they’re really quiet, I’m sure much more so than the other set that I was considering with rubber heads.

I don’t think it’s enough to knock a star off my review but one issue I had with the drum set was that there was a constant, fast click noise in my headset. I called Alesis support, and we discovered that it was being caused by my combo cable modem + wifi AP in the adjacent room (right on the other side of the wall). Turn that off no clicking sound at all, but I cannot roll like that. I was able to shield the back of the drum set control module with some aluminum foil to make the sound (mostly) go away, but Alesis should really address this and provide some shielding to prevent this. In all my years of using WiFi, I’ve never had a device subject to interference like this.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersQualit/prezzo niente male.

    …divertitevi 🙂

    Potete comprarla

Great set of drums, The picture makes the drums look bigger than they are, hence i hesitated buying them. However i took the plunge and was surprised how compact the set is, they fit neatly into the corner. They are light yet very sturdy and the sound is amazing. All in all a very good set of drums for a reasonable price.

Great drum kit, slim and compact. Not played drums in decades. Was easy to pick back up. Mesh heads are a must, gives a nice amount of bounce. Kids are now learning (4 and 9 years old). Excellent buy especially as it was in offer.

I’ve returned to drumming after a break of several years. I’m no pro, but I’m not a novice either (about a scratchy grade 5 I’d guess).

    The good points:-

Amazing value for money! My last kit was a 2k Yamaha DTX affair and whilst the built quality isn’t in the same league, the feel is possibly better on this kit. The mesh heads work great, giving it a pretty convincing ‘real’ feel.

It doesn’t take up a huge amount of space

    The not so good:-

The frame a little on the short side for a 6-foot drummer. With my stool at the right height for working the pedals I find there’s not enough adjustment to get the snare up to a comfortable height. A driveway monoblock under each leg solves the problem (until I can think of something better) but doesn’t look so hot. If the frame legs had been just another 2-3 inches longer it would have been perfect.

The module isn’t that intuitive and the instructions are pretty brief. Having said that, I think that’s a common trait with all manufacturers modules, although Yamaha manuals tend to be huge.

Some of the pre-set kits are badly balanced. By that I mean that (for example) the sound of the closed hi-hat can drown out the sound triggered by the snare. You can balance it out yourself, so not a biggie, but please bear in mind my previous gripe.

I found that non of the pre-set kits were particularly good. They all seem to have 1 or 2 elements that don’t quite match the rest of that particular kit. A bit of re-assigning sorts that out as there’s plenty of choice but, again, that takes reading manuals and working things out when all you really want to do is build it and play it.

The lead for the snare is way too short, so there’s no chance of it neatly following the frame and has to dangle instead.

All in all though it really is a fabulous kit which I’d 100% recommend. I’ve had the kit for a month now and all these niggles I’ve got are just that – niggles. At this price point you will not get better.

    Fantastic e-kit.

I have played acoustic drums for 24 years and this is my second electric kit.

I was pretty blown away by the response from the skins and the quality and feel to this set.

I mainly play metal and and this set feels nice to play with. I’m not overly fond of the bass trigger, however, these can easily be changed to another style to suit your style and preference.

There are many kit sounds to choose from in the module and you can connect to an audio interface to play through software on pc / phone / tablet for recording / more sounds etc.

There are also extra ports to fit another cymbal and drum and I’ve seen these expansion packs for under 100 online.

    Great value and quality

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is my first electronic kit (having had my acoustic kit in storage for the last decade). It is excellent for the price. It feels good quality and the kit sounds are ok / decent enough for a practice kit (and for the price).
Bearing in mind that I’m a big, tall bloke and I can play it quite hard, it stands up to punishment really well.
The response of the pads is excellent. They pick up soft and hard strikes well, and they equally pick up fast rolls on both the drum and cymbal pads.
My only criticisms at this time are:
    1. At 6’3″ tall this is right on the limit for size that I can play (ie it’s a little bit low at it’s maximum height setting). It’s not ideal, however, I have found I can adapt to that ok.
    2. The bass drum pad is deceptive in that it appears that you can use a double pedal with it, however you cannot; as the part of the pad that actually activates the sound is only large enough for a single beater. It doesn’t extend to the whole pad and that is a bit disappointing.

Otherwise, it’s a sturdy enough kit with a reasonable range of sounds and functions. I’d say it’s perfect for a beginner and fine for someone like me who uses it to mess around on and doesn’t want to spend shedloads.
At the price it is an absolute bargain. I’m really pleased with it and would highly recommend.

I’m a beginner drummer and enjoy learning and using these drums. The mesh quality feels great and causes less harm to my hands then the rubber material! (E.g crash is rubber). When I use my headphones (normal iPhone or beat headphones work) I get static noise in the back even when the headphones don’t have a built in mic but it’s only noticeable when your not playing. Took less than an hour to set up, and I enjoy using the pre made kits and playing along to their songs or connecting my phone and YouTubing songs without drums in them.

Considering the price, this is completely brilliant! I bought it as a second kit (I have a Roland TD12) so I could play along with my daughter, and it’s terrific! The mesh heads have a different trigger system than the Roland which eliminates the hot spot problem and the sounds aren’t bad at all. Highly recommended!

Arrived extremely well pack and easy to set up but does take an hour or so to do so.

Absolutely perfect for beginners and a great set for more experienced players, Iv played for a long time but after moving into an apartment I couldn’t really play my old acoustic kit but after getting that itch again I decided to try an E-kit.

I needed to get a few extra pieces to get back to what I used to use, 2nd Crash Cymbal, 4th Tom, and a Double Bass Pedal, their are two extra ports for the Tom and crash but their aren’t any extra after that so unfortunately I can’t get another cymbal for the splash without getting a whole new kit to add to this but that’s not what this kit is ment for so that is not it’s fault

It’s not completely silent but rather than a deep bass pissing off my neighbors I have a mild thump of my foot which I have asked them about and have been told they almost can’t notice it

But unless you have a decent pair of headphones the sounds will be crunchy and muted (I recommend AT M50x, with them it’s crystal clear)

The AUX port allows you to use your phone to play music and it works great, although it’s kinda staticky when nothing’s being played but it’s not terribly noticeable when musics on (although I think it might be because I’m using a low quality AUX cord)

To anyone reading this get this set it’s a great way to learn a new skill without breaking the bank and any connections with your neighbors.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWhile I am no expert at drums, just a recent learner, all I can say that the kit is just right for me who has a space challenge and is just starting out. It took me a 2-3 weeks to get all the setup right for smooth playing position but once you have it you are all set. Each piece of the instrument is well balanced and even with some heavy playing the entire kit seems to be sturdy.
The kit plugs into Apple GB neatly as a midi drum instrument giving one a wider option of drum kits to choose from. Overall highly recommended for somebody who is is just starting out or is challenged for space. While the accompanying manual is not the greatest for helping set it up, there are plenty of videos available on the Internet for guidance. The only reason I gave it 4 star is because I feel a 10 inch snare is probably the best instead of the 8 inch one but then this is what you get at this price.

I used to drum in a band while I was in school, but I haven’t since and wanted to get back into it. This kit caught my eye since the price seemed very good for what it offered. I am happy to say that the kit is the real deal. It works better than I expected, and it is small enough that it doesn’t get in the way in a cramped space.
One thing to note is that the sounds at first was disappointing. Some sounds were barely audible and others just didn’t seem right. After playing with the settings in the module though and setting up a custom kit, it is much better and I absolutely recommend this for someone new to drums or looking for a compact budget option. The size is just a bit bigger than a rockband drum controller, so that is one thing to consider. It is small, but it works well enough and I have no complaints. The mesh pads have a very nice feel and rebound for the sticks.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI’ve wanted to get back into percussion for a couple of years now so I had looked for some e-drums. They were always expensive (2k or so) so I waited and made due with e-pads. When I spotted these on Amazon, did some reading on the Nitro kit and was surprised at the positive reviews. I grabbed a set a few months ago and they are great. Sound is fantastic. You’ll need extra cables if you want to plug into home stereos or amplifiers. It leans toward the player to use headphones but you can use the ports in different ways. I took some time to make small adjustments to position the pads exactly the way I needed but practice makes perfect. Quality is great! Highly recommended for the price point.

I finally decided to step up and purchase an electronic drum set, mostly because I did not want to inflict my percussive inexperience on the rest of my household. The Alesis Nitro Mesh seemed like the perfect entry level kit and I was not disappointed. I can honestly say that I suck a whole lot less now that I’ve been pounding on it for over a year. It didn’t take long before I was compelled to expand to the additional tom and then finally a second crash. Now I’m jonesing hard for a double bass pedal. My only beef so far has been that the additional accessories seem to be disproportionately costly, and I wish that there had been an option to purchase the full kit up-front. Oh well. Anyway, he library of voices is vast, and I can use the second crash for those instances where I need special instruments such as a chime, hand claps, woodblocks and, of course, MORE COWBELL!! I highly recommend this kit to anyone who is ready to see if they can keep up with their favorites pros. I simply plug my iPhone into the jack and select a song that I want to bang away to. I recommend making sure the phone volume is not cranked to 11 because it will blast your ears off. That being said, you can adjust the volume of the phone and the set independently, so you can get the perfect mix and start rocking. Not sure what else to say but I absolutely love this kit and have been having a total blast since I took the plunge.

Brilliant. Fairly easy to assemble and great response when playing. Takes time getting used to the functions of the drum module but many different beats, rhythms and songs as well as input to connect up a device with other music.
Only down side is the hi hat pedal… not too responsive unfortunately for getting that quick open shut sound.
As a drummer from years gone by, I wanted to get back into it and these are perfect. Easy to move around as a single entity too.

This an excellent drums to practice. Lots of sounds and customisable options.
Watch reviews on youtube to know about the features.
However there are some hidden ones as well e.g. you can attach the snare to any of the toms to use it as dual zone.
In terms of recording, I still did not find a way to record from the module.
However, you can always use softwares on phone/pc and appropriate cable to record your drumming.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersPros
-The price – very competitive against other well known companies.
-The drum head quality and the feel is very good.
-The size of the drum kit in a room is tiny. Compare that to your 4/5 sqm acoustic drum kit.
-The drum module is very good with a number of nice sounding drums.
    -Easy to set up
-Not annoyingly noisy to other people

    Cons
-Doesn’t pick up a ‘Double pedal’ very well. This is a little bit disappointing for me, but I’m still enjoying without!
    -Seems quite flimsy.

Overall, this drum kit is good for the price you pay. Yes, there are better ones out there, but you will have to pay a lot more to be better than this.

The drum module is very good and has all the standard functionality you get with an electronic kit.

It is perfect if (like me) you live in a built up area and are unable to use your acoustic kit. It also doesn’t take up a large room full of space.

This is a beginner’s kit but it has legs thanks to midi output, and from what I’ve read, module will accept stereo inputs, which makes it a highly extensible midi unit.

Built in sounds are not great, but it’s hard to understand why anyone would use a module’s built in sounds when it’s so easy to run midi into a software drum emulator like GarageBand ez drummer etc.

Pads are small, but if you decide drumming is for you, then you can selectively upgrade snare, toms etc.

Unless you plan to get to Roland territory, this alesis kit will be a solid base for any Build out.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this and received it today. As long as you can follow pictures you can build it. Very easy to do. If you build it properly then you will have no problems at all.

I read a few reviews saying that people are having a problem with the snare by accidentally doing a rimshot. I have had no such problems. I think this is more about how you set it up rather than a fault with the product. I have played this kit solidly for over an hour and had no problem at all.

I’ve connected my headphones and the sound quality for the price is amazing. I really love this kit. I have played kits that cost in excess of 1000 and I’ll be honest even as a musician I can’t tell much of a difference.

The only down side to this kit I think is the way it looks. It looks a little cheap compared to other kits but this defo one of the best kits I’ve played and also the best kit I have played at this price point by far.

I’m looking forward to using it more.

Obviously this isn’t a high end piece of equipment. But, for the price, definitely 5 stars. Came in perfect condition. Everything functioning as intended. A pretty large bank of sounds for such a cheap kit. Drums are responsive and the kick is especially sturdy and has good response. For peeps in an apartment, like me, you can’t go wrong with this kit. Also, seems like you could record pretty easily with this thing. There are a couples downsides (but because of price, I still think 5 stars): as others have noted, the rims are really high. Even experienced drummers will have to discipline themselves with this to not accidentally rim-shot. Since it sits relatively low (and I’m only 5’6″) it helps with the rim-shot issue a little bit. Also, the high hat pedal is not as responsive as I would like. You simply cannot hit it will closed then open to reverberate. It will make a closed sound or open sound–you cannot get both in a single hit, which pretty much eliminates any jazz drumming. Perhaps I just have a faulty hi hat pedal, because it also just tweeks out and makes a static sound sometimes when opening and closing repeatedly. Overall, a little disappointed with the hi hat sounds in general too. Lastly, the sound output is very very weak. If you plan on plugging in headphones, max volume does not even come close to drowning out the sound of you actually hitting the drums. I plugged into a g-boom boombox style speaker–much quieter than the headphones. Definitely consider getting an amp to plug into, even if you just want to use headphones, run the sound through the amp into the headphones.

That’s it. Despite the things I mentioned, this is still very satisfying to practice on and potentially record.

It arrived this morning and I’m over the moon with it.
Very easy to build even though I had to wing it a bit as the instructions only show how to build it right handed and I’m left handed.
The general sound and ease of use are excellent I’m not a drummer but I’ve played on acoustic sets and for a complete beginner it feels almost identical.

There is a couple of little things that let it down slightly ( and they are very minor )
The high hat peddle isn’t very responsive and when you plug the headphones in it sounds like you’re in a massive empty hall
This is rectified by pulling the Jack plug out about a millimetre.
Other than that I’d say excellent value for money and I’m glad I picked this one.

Firstly, the Alesis Nitro Mesh kit was pretty simple to set up, though I would recommend using the Alesis YouTube assembly video, which walks you through step by step.

The mesh drum pads have a really nice feel, though not the largest, they are perfectly fine and great for slightly smaller spaces. Responsive all round, 2 zone snare with rim shock.

Cymbals are also impressive, the crash has ‘choke’ ability too. Opening and closing hi-hat is responsive, with a little room for improvement.

The Module has enough presets to get you up and running and plenty for beginners, though ability to hook up to DAW with USB and Midi, means you can expand your sounds.

Overall: Build is good, nice feel and response from the drum pads, cymbals perfectly fine, at this price point c300 – 350, you can’t go wrong! I would definitely recommend.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThese drums exceeded my expectations in so many ways. They feel very high quality, so you’re getting great value with these. I can’t wait to play them everyday. I love the mesh skins (rubber ones can really hurt your wrists with the vibration). You can actually use the snare as a practice pad. The module is user friendly and has the perfect amount of functionality. I can connect my laptop, phone, an amp, and headphones. I love the metronome, preloaded funky songs to jam to, and being able to connect my phone to play along to songs. What a great way to practice!

They took me about half an hour to setup and it was very easy. I adjusted them to feel bigger and more like a real kit. If you tighten everything properly, they will not move around on you. I used a second felt pad on the hi-hat so it doesn’t wobble. The customs kits are super handy, especially when practicing different types of drumming. I made a custom kit using the 2nd tom as a ride, so I can have two crash cymbals. You can buy another pad or cymbal to expand your kit. The only 2 thing that could be improved are the pedals. With the hi-hat pedal it does not react how I want it (you just can’t emulate the swishes of a real hi-hat with electric kits) and the bass pedal could absorb noise and vibration better. You also have to turn the volume down on the hi-hats because all kits have them set way too high for some reason.

They are quiet in my apartment, but unfortunately my neighbors complained after about a week. The kick drum can give quite a bit of a thud, and even though I live in a new, concrete building, they still seem to go through the floor. I will consider building a platform or buying a sound reducing beater (there’s info and tutorials on Youtube).

Overall, these drums are great and I would recommend them for all levels of drummers. I am not a beginner drummer and I still enjoy playing and practicing with this kit for hours.

l;dr: Great kit for any drummer whether you live in a home, apartment or have young children and you want to drum while they are asleep at night. Great variety of sounds to play with. Ability to save custom kits. best bang for your buck if you want an e-kit that near perfectly replicates an acoustic set, and the company that takes care of your warranty is amazing.

Recently got my own house again and wanted to get back into drummer, but with an infant daughter, an acoustic set was out of the question. So I decided to go with this e-kit and it was a great choice. It’s such a quite set that I can play it late at night whilst my baby is sleeping and it doesn’t wake her at all. Best bang for your buck if you want an e-kit that can very closely resemble and acoustic set (such as the lighter or heavier you hit a cymbal/snare/tom the lower or higher the sound) and the mesh heads feel great. Not a perfect match to an acoustic but miles better than an e-kit that doesn’t use mesh heads.

Unfortunately, I did have an issue with the kit out of box, but the company that takes care of the warranty is fantastic. I sent in a ticket, and instead of just throwing emails around they called me directly to work out the details and in less than a week my issue was fixed. (Which is why I’m still giving this kit a 5 star. Though it may have had an issue, it was most likely not a common one and the support was amazing)

I Had to give up my acoustic drumset about 8 years ago do to moving into an apartment. Finally got to a place where I could start drumming again and decided to give this e-kit a try. I had been pushed away from e-kits for so long because they just weren’t the best and hard to get into after you’ve played an acoustic kit. Needless to say e-kits have come a long way, and for the price this is a great set for beginners and intermediate drummers. The mesh pads feel great and give you a decently close to real feel. They rebound a bit more than a real snare/toms, but it’s not that bad. The set is nice a quite so you’re not annoying anyone else that might be listening, so it would also be great for apartments, but if someone is living below you the bass pedal might still be loud.

It has a great variety of sounds to choose from and you can create your own kits and save them right onto the module. The ability to plug in your phone to an aux jack on the module is also great. Makes it so much easier to play along with music. One thing I do for easy recording of drum covers or just recording beats is that I use an aux splitter. I plug that splitter in the headphone jack, plug my headphones into one end and use a double ended aux cord into the other. That way you plug in the aux into a microphone jack on your PC and you can record your drums right into audcity or a similar audio recorder. Alternatively, you can change that mic input into a listen device and the sound goes straight to your PC and you just use software like OBS or similar to record your covers. Doing this, since you’re playing the music your drumming to from your phone plugged into the aux port on the module, that music is going directly to your PC with your drums. It’s a nice way to record covers without having to worry about syncing up your music to your drums. I also find that there isn’t a huge drop is sound quality doing it thing way either. The drums still sound great going through the aux to your PC so it’s a nice cheap option compared to spending tons of money on interfaces.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersHad this kit for a little while now and I’m enjoying it. For practice it’s great. I use it with studio headphones and practice almost silently in my garage. The mesh heads feel nice under the sticks thought a larger pad for the snare would be nice. Hight wise the complete kit seemed quite low and took a bit of work to get to a reasonable playing hight. Having an aux in to play along with backing tracks at volumes that won’t end in you having hearing loss is great.

As someone who has only used acoustic kits for 18 years this kit is a great affordable option for home practice. And I would recommend it to any beginner/intermediate player on the ability to practice at home without waking up the street.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersAlways fancied trying the drums, however didnt want to torture the neighbours – so this was the next best option. Having done a bit of research I decided on this. I have to say the mesh heads (drum pad) make all the difference, it makes it feel alot more expensive than it is, almost like playing the real thing. I have to say i cant really fault it, you can change the kit (sound), make adjustments to each pad etc, ideal if you were thinking of learning the drums. Has a metronome and lessons built into the module itself. I’ve currently got mine hooked up to my laptop (via a midi cable) and am using Addictive Drums for the sound with this mesh kit as the trigger. Really good so far. Happy with purchase.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThe first good experience when I purchased this drumkit was how organised it all was in the main box. All the main pieces are care fully packed in in their own separate boxes. The assembly instructions are pretty simple, but some text describing each step would’ve been nice. That being said I assembled it in double quick time with only the tiniest bit of head-scratching.

Once it’s built it’s simply amazing. The preprogrammed sounds are all spiffing, the mesh drums feel really good to drum on and connecting it up to an amplifier or computer audio system is dead easy. I suppose it would have been nice if some more drums would’ve been multi-zone, but it doesn’t really matter as you can adjust so many parameters of the drum processing system, using the attached control box, that you can make this drumkit sing in any way you desire. You can adjust these using midi using the midi ports or midi over usb. The price is incredibly keen, given the power, flexibility and pure enjoyability of drumming on it – that’s a joy. If you are cash limited save up and get this. Cheaper systems are a fool’s bargain and more expensive systems have features Homer musicians don’t really need.

I love my drumkit, I recommend it with great happiness knowing it’ll bring a smile to the face of everyone who gets one!

The onboard sounds are nothing too spectacular, but that is to be expected at the price point. Ok for a little practice session but lacking any real nuance. However it really shines when connected to a more advanced drum VST. With a little tweaking you can get a really playable kit from the Nitro. Golden Review Award: 22 From Our UsersJust received this and started having fun practicing right away. In a nutshell great value for money, if you just need to practice in between studio sessions. Thanks and credit to to user Jaz, whose detailed review helped me chose this kit.

The delivery was fast and assembly was pretty easy. Material felt a bit flimsy but sturdy enough once all screw are tightened.

If you are used to acoustic kits, this one will take some adjusting at first. The snare drums is awkwardly positioned and very small. 1 times out of three I’m hitting the rim. The low and high time are a good size but the floor tom is also awkwardly positioned and too small. The hit hat needs to be tightened as another user noted – it tends to move away otherwise. The kick pad is of decent quality and easy to use. The hi-hat however is a big low point with very little realism to the real thing so you would need to keep that in mind when learning.

Sound is loud enough – beware to not go too loud lest you destroy your ears. Easy to find how to use external source sound to practice.

All in all for the budget I am pretty happy so far. It’s of a better quality than anticipated though I would like a better snare drums on this one .

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersFirst electronic kit for me after many years of not playing due to acoustic kit being too loud in the house. I have taken to the mesh heads very well (still fiddling with the tension on the snare but you can do a decent drum roll on it). The rim shot on the snare is also brilliant and gives you a great realistic variety of snare sounds while playing. I bought an extra non branded crash cymbal quite cheap that looks and plays the same as the supplied Alesis ones that works well and has it’s own sound on all the kits in the module. The range of kits on the module is adequate and you can customise each one and store to your own bank number. Slightly disappointing range of percussion sounds but realistically when would I use them other than for my own entertainment (remember everyone used to go straight to the helicopter sound on a synth keyboard). Hi- hat pedal a little bit flimsy and quite hard to get to the “slightly open” hi-hat range on the pedal, but there is always the option to replace this with a proper hi-hat module with stand and pedal (and presumably you can re-use the pad for another crash). Kick pedal quality is good enough, but you can use your own anyway. Don’t forget the drum stool – this version doesn’t come with one, and use your own sticks (nylon tips work well). So far, so good – would highly recommend.

Golden Review Award: 270 From Our UsersFirst off I want to say that I bought these when they came with a fifty-dollar gift card to Amazon, so they really only cost $300. It also included one set of sticks and a drum key. I am writing this for two purposes…to critique them from an entry level set perspective, and their ability to work with a double bass.

From the double bass perspective, this kit’s base pad is sufficient for double bass. The pad is louder when hit closer to the center. As long as the beater hits someplace on the pad it will work. Mine has about an inch of play room on the side of each beater. If I center them, they work perfect. It’s only when they stray to the side that they are a little less loud. The pedal I chose does not fit very good as far as where it connects to the pad stand. To center the beaters, I have to move the peddle as far to the right as possible. It’s not real secure when I do it this way, and end up having to adjust/tighten it every 15 minutes of use, but this pad was not designed with double bass in mind. I am an engineer and I can just design a better piece to weld on that will be much better. Since I can do the drawing and give it to a friend that welds and is great at manufacturing parts, it’s only going to cost me the price of a piece of metal. I would imagine if you paid someone to do it, it would not be an inexpensive kit anymore. I would just buy a larger pad stand,if I didn’t have the ability to make one for free. That being said, there are other ways you could do it without welding…you could get some metal, drill holes, and bolt it to the existing pad stand. Also, there might be other pedals that would center easier than mine. I chose the TAMA HP200PTW Iron Cobra 200 Double Pedal, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B4XDWB6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_detailpage_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and I am extremely happy with it. I had a DW pedal before, and it didn’t come close to comparing with this one. I think the DW was a hundred dollars more than the Tama as well, but this was 15 years ago, and double pedals may have been more expensive then. The performance of the Tama is by far the best of any pedal I ever used, and there are other things you can add to the pedal to make it faster. The point of this before I go in too many directions, is the pad itself has plenty of room for two pedals to strike it in the “sweet spot”, or close enough to the electronic trigger, to work perfectly. Finding a pedal that clamps on to the stand right might be a challenge; I don’t know, this is the only pedal I tried with it.

My previous, and first electronic kit was a Roland brian with Hart Dynamics drums. They were the same price as the Roland drums, only I liked the way they played better, and they came with a lifetime warranty. I’m not sure how long ago, but they went out of business: so much for the lifetime warranty. I had the DW 3000 double bass pedal, which at the time cost about $300 (the cost of this entire kit), and now they cost $250…double bass is much more popular now than it was back then…my hypothesis why the pedal went down that much after 15 years. The point I am making here, is that I am comparing the Alesis kit to that kit…which was from 15 years ago when electronic drums were nowhere near as prevalent as they are now. I also had the same drum throne; I liked it so I got it again.

From the entry level perspective: here are the reasons I did not give the kit a 5. It doesn’t come with a throne. Beginners might not think of that and be disappointed when it arrives and realize that they still need to order one. That can be a significant addition to the price of the kit. I found a throne I like for just under $60, Gibraltar 6608 Heavy Drum Throne. It’s comfortable, functional, and sturdy. I am a big man (about 300 lbs). This is my second one. I had the first one 15 years and it never had a problem, and like I said, I weigh a lot. I purchased both the throne and Tama pedal from Amazon, and I love them both. I copied and pasted the names on Amazon if you want to check them out. This kit does come with a single bass pedal by the way, so you don’t have to buy a different pedal. Some other things you will need are: A way to hear the kit – either headphones (the input jack is 3.5 mm), an amp., or a stereo to plug into. I also got some over the ear headphones (OneOdio) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N6ZJH96/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 that are amazing for $30. The other thing that is a must have from my perspective it a cable to attach your phone or mp3 player. You will need a 3.5mm to 3.5 mm cable to plug into the headphone jack of your phone or player…same size into the Alesis brain. Here is the one I got…I like long cords when playing drums…hate it when I move and a cord tugs on me. By the way, there is nothing bluetooth or wireless in this kit:. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KWR8OZ4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The headphones I put a link for, also have a cord close to 10 feet, and a bunch of different ways and sizes to hook up that come with the headphones. I put all this extra stuff because if you are new to electronic kits, you might not think of it and be dissapointed when you have to rush out to buy headphones to hear them or a cord so you can hook up your mp3 player and play along to YOUR music. The kit does have some built in songs you can play with.

OK, so for the kit’s performance. The cymbols scare me as they don’t appear real sturdy, but work fine so far. The ride cymbal makes the bell sound when you hit it hard. I like using the bell, so I am wondering how long they will last. They work and sound great now. The only other kit I owned was Roland with drums the same quality. The mesh heads seem great. I get good bounce and they play like an acoustic drum head. The rim around the drum heads it high, and they take some getting used to. An 8″ drum isn’t a very big target to start with, and if you put a high ring around it…a bit challenging to say the least. The rims do make for easy, good sounding rim shots. All the pads are responsive with no delay. The stand is easy to put together, but this is my second one, and my friend that helped me works with me as an engineer. I would guess we can figure stuff like this out at least as good as the average person. Their assembly instructions suck, and if I didn’t understand how these go together already, it would have been really hard to put together. All the drum sounds I have heard so far sounded great.

Now, like I said earlier, my previous kit was a Roland brain, and drums I think were at least as good as Roland. Roland is the standard in electronic drums…just my opinion. I got that kit 15 years ago. I am sure all drum kits have evolved since then. Comparing the Roland kit from 15 years ago with this one, I would say the actual drum pads are very similar, and play almost exactly the same. The stand is just as sturdy. The cymbols seem about the same, but the Rolands didn’t need to be hit as hard to get the bell sound. Through headphones, the Alesis kit sounds almost exactly the same as the Roland did. I haven’t checked all the Alesis brain can do, but I think it probably does more than the Roland (15 years old) did. I am sure the new Roland brains do way more now. I think drums are like cars. The Roland is like a Bentley. Sure, it’s a nice car, but not that nice…In my opinion, a big part of it’s price tag is the name Bentley. So sure, maybe my new kit is like a Chevy, but it gets me where I need to go, it’s inexpensive to maintain and repair, and honestly, I think it looks a lot cooler than a Bentley. I have played drums on and off for almost 50 years. I have been away from it for 3 years, so I just wanted to check out an inexpensive kit for S and Gs, and I am glad I did. I don’t know how long it will last, but for now I am very impressed. I would highly recommend this kit.

I wonder if anyone will read all this…lol

Golden Review Award: 174 From Our UsersI bought this kit for two reasons. Space and respect for my neighbors. I like that you can make it almost as compact as a Rock Band kit. The mesh heads have a great feel to them.
You can’t expect much of a membrane at this price. The one it comes with is OK, but for best results, plug the drums into a computer / laptop and use EZDrummer or something to get real authentic sounding drums.
Also, do yourself a favour, go to the dollar store and buy yourself some zip ties or velcro for some cable management as there are a TON of wires.
The only other thing, is the 2 pedals need SOMETHING to grip to the floor, otherwise they WILL slide and most likely SCRATCH your wood/tile floor. Get a large mat for the kit to sit on.

I love this little kit, but you will NEED some accessories!

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersOh baby! Nice sounds, great price. Bass drum is garbage but I replaced that with a 14′ Tom, trigger and mesh head for some sick double bass. Module has 2 extra ports for 2 additional triggers which is wonderful! Only complaint is the wires can be a little short so customizing the drum layout is challenging. No better kit for first time buyers!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersA little sceptical at first about buying this, but I can say I’m glad I did. Well packaged on delivery, easy to assemble and ready I a couple of hours to play. The mesh pads are responsive and it’s a great kit to play. I would recommend for any begginer or intermediate player who doesn’t want to upset your neighbors.

Golden Review Award: 57 From Our UsersThis is my first kit and after talking to my tutor he recommend this one. The mesh Toms and Snare feel similar to an acoustic kit, so it’s great to practice at home between lessons.

It’s fantastic value for money, there are enough kits and customisation options to find the right sound.

The practice modes are a bit hit and miss to get started with as a newbie, would appreciate if Alesis had a couple of video guides as well for the module.

In terms of niggles, the Velcro on the bottom of the hi-hat pedal has come away from the bottom of the pedal. Nothing major, can just replace it.

The other niggle is the snare drum arm, you’ll need to regularly tighten the joint connector (I’ve found in my experience).

Overall would highly recommend to anyone, especially new drummers starting out who want an electric kit with that feels similar to an acoustic.

    Fantastic with a few niggles

Golden Review Award: 307 From Our UsersI’ve had it for about a month and play it every day, sometimes for hours. I haven’t noticed any problems of any kind. It’s nicely made and even though some don’t like the foot pedal, I think it’s my favorite part of the entire kit. Two things that do bug me is that: 1) with all the sounds this thing can make, there is no tambourine voice (and I will probably find other percussion sounds missing as I go along). You may say ‘who cares’ but they used up eight voices of a guy just saying ‘one’, ‘two’ all the way to eight, but no tambourine. If you play 60’s music, you may miss not having it. And: 2) The cables that connect the drum module to the triggers are not discrete cables. They all come together into a single DB-25 (parallel port style) connector and each cable is cut to length to reach each of the triggers. This is fine unless you want the drum module to be on the right (where it should be) instead of on the left which is where it has to go. Also note that the audio output is not extremely powerful. It is sufficient and you won’t have any problem driving an amp but you need just about full volume to drive your headphones to a robust level.

These are some of the things I learned while assembling it: 1) The instructions are pretty lame. 2) Be sure to hammer the rubber feet all the way on to the legs before assembling it. They are only pushed on hand tight from the factory and end up not having uniform lengths which make balancing it tough otherwise. 3) You may want to swap the position of the High Hat support and the drum module. I put the High Hat out on the far left end of the bar (and the snare on the extreme end of its bar too) to open up the size of the kit somewhat, otherwise, it’s kind of cramped unless you’re a kid. 4) You can turn the floor tom bracket upside down to lower its height a bit (to be a little more ‘real’), and also move it all the way out to the end of the right bar (again, to expand the size some). 5) It comes with 5 Velcro strips for cable management but that is nowhere near enough. You can cut them lengthwise to make 10 which goes a long way to organizing the cables.
