This review is for the Andoer 3x softbox and stand kit.
Fantastic value for money especially as I bought it when reduced.
The kit is not professional quality, the stands and construction of the soft boxes being quite lightweight but having said that, if you need lighting for occasional use or home use then this is perfect for the job and when packed up into the rather flimsy carry holdall it is not too heavy and can easily be transported.
With 9x 135watt bulbs it should be easy to provide almost any lighting requirements.
Although relatively lightweight the stands and metal work are well manufactured. They can easily be knocked over, so some care is necessary and extra weights on the bottom would be advisable, particularly on the boom stand.
My main criticism is the short mains leads which means that any set up is going to require extra extension mains leads.
TIPS. Without instructions, assembling the larger softboxes may cause some head scratching!
The folded velcro pieces on each corner are pockets for the rods, this is not easy to see when they are flat. Open them up with say the point of a biro. I have gently rounded off one end of the white rods which are rather sharply cut, to fit in these pockets more easily. The other end of the rods go into the holes around the bulb housings. You need to choose whether you want them to be portrait or landscape on the stand. Loosen off the velcro at the centre to get the rods in and tighten it afterwards with the unit face down. Don’t fit the bulbs until mounted up on the stand. The seams on the diffuser covers need to be turned inside out.

Overall a good set for the price.
4x rods which attach to light bulb edge and umbrella a little tricky to set up. Everything else was easy.
Use weights on feet for added security & have a tripod foot facing/ under the direction of the light bulb.

Perfect for online yoga and somatics teaching

Perfect, it feels sturdy when up hight, I have only used the cloth backdrops that have given with it I have ordered vinyl backdrops so I will see if it handles it. But I feel like it will lights are great.

Great kit , comes with 3 backgrounds, the background support I would say it’s 4m long as I only installed it with 2 out of the 4 bars supplied, the tripods are sturdy and easy to adjust and the lights are powerful . Can replace with own E27 bulbs if desired. Everything fits nicely in the store/carry bag for saving space even with all the boxes. Recommend

Easy to install, diverse and of good quality

Since working from home, i had to deliver online presentations and coaching sessions to people around the world.

I wanted something to make my video calls stand out from the rest. A little bit of an overkill for what I needed, but they are AMAZING!

Works like a charm for photography as well.

The tripods are extremely well made and sturdy with universal screws on them.
Umbrellas are well made too with stable tripods to avoid any falling hazards.

Overall I am super happy with it,and glad to get back to my hobby of photography.

    Good budget studio setup!

Nothing I don’t like about this product. I’m only an amateur photographer and getting results my wife thinks are better than a professional. I’m not sure about that but I think it’s something I should have purchased years ago. Previously, I only had a traditional “clouds” fabric background and a bounce flashgun. The results have been fair but not a patch on using this kit. Using just one of the soft boxes and the supplied black background I’ve achieved a perfect Rembrandt triangle. Yes, I know the poles and stands feel a little light but at the price compared to some professional equipment, it’s worthy of anyone wanting to start studio photography.

I have recently started photography and was really looking forward to buy something which includes everything I absolutely love this set and the lights are amazing as it’s the integral part for photography I’ve found them very nice, the stands are sturdy backdrop holder is very firm.

I wanted a background and lighting kit to up my game for my home studio to do portrait and product photos.

This Andoer professional softbox studio lighting kit has more or less all I needed to get started. It includes: 3pcs of 1.8 x 2.8m cotton fabric backdrops, 1pc 2 x 3m background support system, 3pcs of 50x70cm Softbox (2pcs * 4in1 lamp holders and 1pc of single lamp holder), 9pcs of 135W bulbs, 1pc carry bag, 3pcs of fish-like mount clips.

The stand for the backgrounds is simple enough to set up and the cotton backgrounds themselves simply clip to the top rail but you do need to steam or iron the background which I have to get around to yet.

The 3 soft boxes take about 30 minutes to assemble with 4 carbon fibre struts in each and much as its a bit of a faff I think it’s the same for most soft boxes like this. 2 of the soft boxes each take 4 bulbs and you can switch on or off 2 or 4 as required. The other soft box just has a single bulb but its still plenty bright enough. Now I should mention that these 130W bulbs are absolutely massive and exceptionally bright providing 5500K daylight colour temperature for a natural look.

With the 3 soft boxes on their stands one with a hinged weighted extension for a long reach you can position them in a 3 point lighting system ie a key light, a fill light, and a rim or hair light. When. Positioned correctly you can really achieve some really nice portraits with greta contrast and depth.

All in all is good value for money as a starter studio background and lighting stuff kit and I’m really pleased with it.

Good value starter background and lighting studio ki

Love this. Was sceptical on which to buy but having owned a few andoer products before, I was expecting it was going to be good. Great build quality, plan to progress my career as a photographer so this will help with photo shoots and other things. Assembled it yesterday which was really easy to do. Impressed with the size of the screens! Lights are really bright and warm coloured also.

This Andoer Studio Lighting System, including 135W 5500K lamps with 3 assorted 1.8 x 2.8M (6x 9ft) backdrops with studio grade soft boxes, stands would seem to be capable of lighting a small studio or spare room at home as the variable light output is capable of supplying the light. The brightness is ideal for video – our daughter has used this set up for some YouTube items and with a bit of initial juggling around, had obtained good results plus I have used it for portraits and taken some photos of friends pets. The lighting stands are quite sturdy – did wonder if they might overbalance was my first thought but no, they work well, so full marks there. The three backgrounds work well although if anything the support bar for them seems a bit flimsy if I am going to be picky although the three spring clips have to be spaced out when hanging the backgrounds so as not to get any ‘droop’ or creases. Overall a decent lighting system that delivers the goods.

It arrived well packaged. The box is really huge. Everything inside was undamaged.
It comes with 3-1.82.8m Backdrop, 3-Fish-like Mount Clip, 2-50*70cm Softbox with 4in1 Bulb Socket, 1-50cm70cm Softbox with Single Bulb Socket, 9-135W Light Bulb, 1-Boom Arm, 1-Sandbag, 1-23-Meter Backdrop Stand Set, 3-2M Light Stand, 1-Andoer Nylon Carrying Bag.
Everything is really well packaged, lightbulbs are individually packed in polystyrene so really low chance of breaking.
Plugs provided feel solid and well insulated.
The light itself is a well diffused and good colour.
The top light is not enough to light fully. It only is a single bulb.
Multi-light units themselves feel solid and well made.
The softboxes are very awkward to put together.
The stands are a bit flimsy and not too stable. The bags are a bit flimsy too.
The ad says the backdrop is cotton and pictures shows there is a sleeve to thread the poles. But it is not cotton and doesn’t have any sleeves. You have you hold it with a mount clip. Also, there are lots of creases and a bit hard to key from this material.
Overall, there is everything you need for upcoming video and photo projects. This is a lighting kit for indoor portrait photography. Functional setup to get started with, it’s great for what it costs.

    Good starter ki

Perfect photography studio for home use, you get everything you need including 3 good quality backdrops, a large frame, lights, bulbs and soft boxes. It takes a little while to figure everything out the first time you put it together but after that it’s quite easy. The whole kit stores in a case that is included as well. Everything seems sturdy and good quality.

    Great ki

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersThis set is a good start in photography or videography.

I film a cooking show and as you can see in the video that I have made I use this set in my kitchen.
The set comprise of 3 softboxes with as size the same 50x 70 cm decent for a small space.

How are the softboxes and tripods?
As I said, decent quality, I had over the time so many sets that I know how to unfold and fold by heart, if its your first time may be a bit difficult but you will get there. What i suggest is to set these up and after insert the bulbs.
I call them tripods, in fact these are light stands. Quality wise, decent as well, what I can suggest is to unfold the legs properly specially for the one you use from the top. Easy to install and lightweight.
The lightstands can go up to 2m in height.

    Bulbs?
You get 9 pcs in total same type 135w each, 4 for the main softboxes and 1 for the top one. Handle these with care and make sure you screw them properly.

    Color of the light?
5500k which is white light but you might get something slightly warmer because of the top diffuser of the softboxes. If you want to get harsh shadow remove the diffuser on the sotboxes.

    The units?
You will see on the back it these the power buttons, on and off, the cable is already inserted so you cannot remove it and the fuse, well that has a purpose and should be left as it is.
The units are quite light so together with the softbox and stands are easy to be moved with one hand only.
These can be rotated up and down based on your preference. Make sure to lock them properly.

    Backdrops?
There are 2 stands that need to be connected with 4 bars which come one in the other you will figure out how to do it. After you have the long bar ready just place it through the backdrop that you are using the most(in my case is black) and once done connect the bar to the stands(what i recommend is to keep these at low height and once connected raise the stands slowly to get o the optimal height for your needs). There are also 2 other backdrops, white and green(this one can be used as green screen to crop the subject easily). How to mount the other 2 backdrops? Well, you have clips and just secure the backdrop to the bar.
Something really important that i suggest, take something heavy and put it on the stands to secure them properly, i use a bag of 5kg potatoes which really helps. While using the green backdrop make sure you light it evenly in order to be able to remove it in the post, place the main softboxes at the same distance.

    Build quality of the set?
Decent, for beginners and a bit advanced its a good set.

    What I recommend?
After you mount the backdrops, leave them for a while just to hang like this you get rid of the crisis. Please dont press them with the iron, just in case you have a steam machine that would do well.
If you want to use the lights really high, like 1.8 m or something like that, please put something on the bottom to make the stand more stable.

    Overall experience?
Good. For the price i have paid, it is a good set.

You get a lot for your money with this. The lights are very bright and although they’re not dimmable you can choose to turn them on and off in pairs to vary the brightness to some extent. Everything is well packed and it comes with bags for all the stands to go in. As a simple, functional setup to get started with, it’s great for what it costs.

However, it has obviously been made to a price so the stands, while perfectly OK, aren’t very sturdy. They’re made of thin metal and plastic so would be easy to knock over or otherwise damage. And if one of the light stands went over you’d probably smash a bulb or two.

So I think it’d be best suited to a nice calm environment where it can stay assembled full time and not need to be put up/down and carted around in the boot of a car or whatever. In the right environment, like a permanent photo studio I think it would work well.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersWill be moving back to office shortly once current restrictions finished and got this as additional to out support team. Adding a bit extra functions to work to catchup with backlog.
This is quite big bundle and ideal for professional and semi professional levels.
Really big package which gives a lot opportunity to work with.
Came with 9 big 135w white bulbs, which is quite bright and in same time electricity efficient.
Also came with nice big backdrops, which are around slight short of 2m x 3m size. Also backdrops not from paper them are from cotton ideal for multi and long use, no creases as on paper models. In total 3 backdrops which came in common colours black, white and best green which ideal for photo editing.
Stands can be adjusted in 3 levels which can be hight upto 2 meters tall. Lock on drops are stable and can me adjusted, once locked them are quite secure.
Soft boxes, same as main other styles has internal reflection coating, which makes them extra bright and reflect the light back out.
Have a look my pictures hope it will give you a bit idea regarding package size and units which included, hope it will be helpful to decide if it’s suitable for personal needs or not.

    Total Complete big kit.

I’m no expert but for the money I’m over the moon. From a beginner point of view the lights are good quality and extremely bright. They can be controlled individually with 2 switches each and dimmers. Extra fuses are also supplied. Stands are all really good quality and very sturdy. The back drops are massive. I don’t have enough space to put them out properly. The stand in the photos are 2 bars wide. They come with 4 bars. Im extremely happy and would recommend. Carry case is not the strongest but for the price its very good.

    Great for the price

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a thoroughly decent kit for the money, I’d say it’s ideal for home and small business use, the softbox gives out very nice soft light and is easy to control and feather the light, the support stands and bar are good quality and more than adequate for the kit, the tripods are also more than capable of holding the lights and modifiers, with the 135w bulbs f8 was more than do-able so this is a bonified studio kit, I’m actually really impressed with this entire kit and have no problems giving it top marks, a must-have for photographers of all skill levels.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersAfter having had a few lighting kits in the past, i came to find that they had all been borrowed and never returned, just in time for me to not be able to do the nice yearly family portrait with the kids.

I couldn’t remember who borrowed from me so had to buy another, this one actually had more than any of my others ever did, it comes with both lights and their umbrellas as well as stands to seat them on to get that overhead lighting effect, the main part for me was the backdrops, these usually come fold up and can’t be used straight out the box but this one could, we couldn’t find any creases on it and it went straight up and in use within minutes of opening.

Obviosuly i’m going to say it’s my camera skills that gave even better looking photos than any other year this time, however i get the feeling it may have something to do with better lighting.
