High quality as expected from B&O
Excellent sound quality. Excellent build quality. Nice case. Very comfortable. Touch controls can be a bit hit and miss but generally pretty good. Transparency mode is a great feature. They occasionally drop sound in left ear, but this is easily rectified by putting them back in the case, briefly.
For £80 why not?
Very good, got these instead of Air Pods. Great sound quality but some artefacts do appear when listening to soft music. I’ve googled this issue and it seems a lot of people have this. I mostly listen to rap so it hasn’t been a big issue. The ambiance mode is great, especially when someone begins talking or you cross a road. Touch controls imo could be better, I do have a love/hate relationship with them. Overall for the price I would recommend!
Tricky to pai
Wonderful sound quality but very tricky to pair, disappointed with the need to re pair to devices
Amazing value
These was brought for a present the person loves them
Not the smallest of earphones
Great sound as you would expect. They are a little larger than I thought but comfy to wear all the same.
Great buds
I’d looked around for a quality pair or buds at a fair price and I can certainly say these are spot on great value and excellent sound a must buy for anyone
Great value and excellent quality
Great sound quality. Difficult to fit into my ear at first. Soon got the hang of it though. Don’t work out but do use when walking and they’re ace!
Great value, great sound.
Having read a few reviews I was dubious, but the B&O app works perfect on the iPhone, haven’t had any drop out. I found the best way was to pair them with the Bluetooth first, then load the B&O app, then the app found them from the selected product. There are some crackles every know and then on Apple Music, but Spotify, Amazon Music and anything else doesn’t cause this. I’ve used them for Now TV, Prime Video and Netflix, and there appears to be none or very little delay. Make sure you fit the correct cushions in your ears, or else the sound is a bit tinny, but set correctly the sound is deep, bass isn’t distorted and you can pick out various voices and instruments with clear clarity. Battery life is around and the case gives you 2 charges, so another 8 hours.
Better than i could possibly imagine
I have to say these are the best buds i’ve tried. I bought these on the name, and the price – the mk3 of these is around 280 pounds but these are very similar for sub 80??. Ok you dont get wireless charging. Despite reviews ( i was nervous) these have performed excellently. All the talk of being difficult to pair i do not understand. These wake up from their charging nest and go straight to work without a question. Sound quality is up there with my bose QC3s and apple wired buds from 2019 ( still awesome) and i do love my music. Plus i get 4hour constant listening between charges. But there is a secret. Are you ready? Buy Inairs – foam tips. Transformational. They dont fit the charging bay so you take them off and chuck em in loose. But i don’t care for this sound quality.. I am off to leave a five star review there too. Ps 2 star for work outs? Never tried em. When i run i listen to the birds.
This product is phenomenal!
The sound quality no doubt is super clear and the sound cancellations is phenomenal but my right ear bud sometimes fall off if I’m jugging otherwise I would ticked all five star ! Overall I would recommend this product over and over again.
Wireless Ear Plugs
Hello
So pleased with the look and speed of when they came. They’re a Christmas present so they won’t be tried out until then.
Thank you
Amazing only real gripe no uk charger plug just the lead to charge the charging case
Loved the compactness of the earbudz very comfortable little hassle setting up bluetooth the instruction manual is in small print but despite that cannot fault bang & olufsen answering a phone call is great as well
Love i
Always had Bose but the Bose buds didn’t look good these fit right in the ear love em and great sound
The best so fa
They are awesome, I have b&o 9i, b&o 6 and this really impressed me, for under 100 I don’t think is any better, I use them with Samsung, never have any Bluetooth drops as some people saying, maybe because the solve this problems on the latest firmware update.
Quality in design and sound
Once you work out how to use it. This product has amazing quality and control. It was a joy to discover that you can design your own sound presets. Worth the money. Especially at the Amazon price.
Great Product, Quality and Sound. Avoid close proximity to electric/hybrid engines.
Can’t fault these earpods. Beware though…. if you sit at the back of an electric powered bus and you turn your head left or right they will cut out. Face forward and there will be no issues. Or sit away from the engine. I’m guessing this will be the same issue near any hybrid vehicle engine.
Lovely Sound
Easy to set up without downloading the app. App is useful for changing the sound for different types of music. Plenty of choice of earphone covers to get the correct fit. Only used a few times and really enjoy using them. I have set up for use with my phone and my laptop. I have used them for listening to music and Audible for books. Very happy with the quality.
B&O earbuds
I don’t normally leave reviews, basically because I’m too lazy but in this case I’m going to because I’m so impressed with these headphones. I use them for mountain biking in extremely rough terrain and they don’t fall out, ever. The sound quality I would say is extremely good for an ear bud headphone and they can blank out pretty much all other noise. The different size ear buds help you get a proper fit and are as comfortable as can be expected considering you’re stuffing something into your ear hole. I can’t imagine what Apple could be offering at twice the price that would make me switch. Well done B&O
Outstanding...
…experience. Not that good with the rubber plugs but foam ones, OMG, these are perfect. You will be completely isolated from outside world. Sound is fabulous. Now I hearing tones which I never hear before. Almost sound excellence! Highly recommended.
One of the best and worth the price
Having tried many earbuds at various price ranges, these are by far the best. I make many calls and the microphone is just great. Definitely worth paying more.
Amazing Sound
Great sounding earbuds, on the downside it was a struggle to connect but definitely worth it, I had to hold both buds down for 10 secs till the right earbud would flash red and then repair them as a 1 time fix this paired everything together. After pairing I cant fault them cracking earbuds
Make sure you buy some comply tips which fit well and these headphones are brilliant! An absolute bargain for the price. The left headphone doesn’t connect via Bluetooth, instead it links wirelessly using the same tech as hearing aids to the right headphone, which means it does occasionally drop out momentarily, but this is very excusable given the quality and now low price. Battery case is sleek. Note: if you get the comfort comply tips the headphones won’t snap into the case as easily, so give them a little push to make sure they’re charging ok!
Music to my ears . B&O phenomenal.
I have had B&O for over 40 yrs . They never cease to amaze me . The sound quality of these are phenomenal. The B&O app lets you equalise the sound to your taste . The sound is so real it’s unreal . Wow .
Beoplay E8
Good purchase but would like a go of the upgraded versio
Fantastic once you understand how the connections work
The headphones are a little tricky to work with in terms of connectivity however the sound quality 100% lives up to its expectations, loud, many features and crystal clear! I would highly recommend these whilst they are on offer.
Perfect sound and clarity
Just as expected from BOSE and at a great price too – what’s not to like?!
Brilliant bit of ki
Superb sound. very comfortable to wear, even for 3 hours plus. I mastered the touch controls after a couple of days without too much difficulty. Easy to connect to phone, tablet and PC. No noticeable drop-outs. The B&O app works well and is useful. And are good looking shouting quality and design. The charging/storage case is a work of art! Small and compact, will easily fit in a pocket or bag. Holds 3 charges of the ear buds. Also, the ear tips must be a snug fit or the bass suffers. But 4 different sizes are provided. The quick start guide is a pain; the multi-language instructions aren’t separated into different languages. But the fantastic audio and superb design far outweigh the niggles.
If you’re a B&O fan, these are for you!
Simple, effortless connection. Other reviews have said tricky and fiddly to connect, but I never had this difficulty. Sound quality is out of this world even at low volume. Excellent ear fit. I have the over ear wired earphones also, but these are just great for wireless use. Beautiful B&O design – up to their usual standards. Just perfect! Love love love!!!
Really like them
Not had them long, connected fine first, was a bit of a faff, second day but been great for following days.
Sound fantastic.
Not quite as comfortable as Bose quiet in ears, but they are cabled and have active noise cancelling.
But have warn them for hours at a go and they are fine, with standard ear piece.
Btw, they are reduced at the moment.
Solid earpods and I recommend.
They are comfortable and fit well, especially for me because I have smaller ears. Sound quality is good. I did have trouble pairing to my Huawei P20 Pro phone. I did find out that it’s best to first pair to the fone before installing the B&O app.
Great sound if you get the ear fitment correc
2nd set of these I’ve purchased (first set failed after three months) much better than the original airpods (but gen2 are better).
Very good quality
For the full price of 275, these earbuds don’t quite match the level you’d expect. But the sound quality is still perfect, they are super comfortable, they are very easy to use. The transparency mode is a bit funky, but it’s still usable, although I find it easier to just pause my music as there is no overlap of music and transparency mode anyways. Another concern is that I seem to be unable to just use the left earbud on its own, maybe someone else can tell me how to fix this? The right earbud is able to be used alone, just not the left. Other than this, the earbuds are still superb and I’m very pleased with my purchase.
Impressed with Beoplay E8! You get what you pay for!
Amazing design, comfortable and they fit perfectly. Fantastic neat sound, with quality and great bass. Great tactile features without the need of taking your phone out… specially when the tube is packed! Batteries last decent 3.5-4 hours and the charging case is perfect. Only downside: Not quite happy with phone calls if you are outdoors in the city, as the person on the phone will struggle a little bit to hear you. I use them for what I love and it’s music, and after trying other top brands they have no competition.
Great product!
Bought these and very satisfyed. I have read a lot bad reviews according to bluetooth problems but my pair works very well, I havent got any problems so far. You need to know what to do if they do not catch the signal, is a few simple steps. I think the bad reviews are because those people doesnt read the manual yet 🙂
Great sound and quality.
Excellent headphones in terms of quality and sound my only issue with them is the fact they don’t stay in your ears when you’re jogging, if you want these headphones for jogging they’re not that great. Perfect for sound and quality.
UPGRADE FROM BOSE SOUNDSPORT FREE
I purchased these with high expectations which were definitely met the sound quality is great and can be customised using the b&o play app which is something I really liked considering the bose didn’t have this. I also liked how the E8 isn’t very big and it’s compact size makes it easy to take with you anywhere you go compared to the bose this is a massive benefit of the E8. The E8 also is very high quality with a leather case and a beautiful design I’m very happy with the overall aesthetics of the E8 this is somewhere I felt the bose lacked with its bulky design. The volume control of the E8 is interesting and a bit difficult to get used to however over time I rlly liked the touch control over the bose’s multi button control. The only aspect I preferred the bose over the E8 is that the charging case is only 8 hours whereas the bose is only 10 hours. However I haven’t found this a problem. In conclusion the E8 is a very good purchase and I’d recommend this product for anyone wanted a high quality headphone and doesn’t mind spending the price tag.
Like other reviews, takes a bit of time to make these fit. Once set up they are very good, do bear in mind the single biggest thing you need to do correctly is pick the right earphone covers as this dictates your quality of sound. I read up that the fit had to be perfect for you to get the B&O sound. I started out with the small muffs and got the equivalent sound of my 7 year old tapping a tin can. I’m now using the large muffs and the sound is brilliant, it’s something to do with the shape of the muffs and how they deflect the sound in your ear , in turn creating the bass that everyone seems to think does not exist with these. I had to read up on this via the internet through independent past user posts which leads to my only and biggest criticism….. Yes the elephant in the room is the instructions or lack of them, in fact they should have just been done with it and printed ‘work it out for yourself’ on the box, would have been more effective!!. Seriously, I thought understanding ikea instructions took some beating with how to make something pretty straightforward look like an Einstein formula but the instructions for the E8 take let’s make the user as stressed as possible to a whole new level. My advice is don’t read them, just tap in e8 instructions into google and you’ll save yourself a lot of time and stress. Apart from that all good and I’m happy with the purchase.
4 weeks later – further to my review above these really are simply superb. I’m getting quality sound every time I play these things and the tap functionality is brilliant. Disregard the negative reviews- you pay for what you get and these give in buckets.
Signal drop
Look great sound great nice bass with the right tips only complaint they drop signal quite a bit bought mine for 139 don’t think they’re worth the RRP 275 though
A solid good... But not great.
I have had these earphones for a month now, and they are very good. Simple to setup and control whilst doing simple workouts at the gym or being on-the-go. However, I would only ever have paid the sale price for them. 120.00 is the maximum I’d allow for these. Any more and I’d be putting them up against the Sennheiser Momentum earphones, which are just better in every way! B&O really have improved upon the quality of their earphones with these and the 2.0, but as recently as today, both earphones have started to phase out of bluetooth sync for no apparent reason at all, and have taken a good 5-6 tries at re-syncing to actually reconnect to my phone.
Head phones
Does everything i need, when out walking listen music, on the plane watching films on my iPad etc
All round good
These are a great pair of wireless earphones, however I was disappointed by the software decrease in levels of allowing environmental noise in. For passive devices, the noise cancellation is superb. Sound is great but does curb off quite quickly at the lows, as expected, giving a middle heavy profile – really warm and easy to listen to.
Bang & Olufsen you know you’re getting quality
If you’re buying these then you are buying for the whole package. They look amazing very nice design with a real leather charging case to match. You have a selection of tips to get the best fit and I strongly suggest you play around with these to get the best fit it did take me a while to work out the best way to get them comfortably in and looking right in my ears but once you’ve done that you’re good to go. The sound is great I have gone from the beats Studios and I’m definitely not disappointed with the sound quality. You could definitely get better sounds quality elsewhere but like I said you’re buying the whole package. They connect very fast as soon as you turn on and I’ve had no dropped connections so far. At the price they are right now I highly recommend you’re getting great sound and looking great at the same time
Amazing.
As you would expect from b&o, these are magnificent.
Comfortable fit, great sound quality, noice cancelling works really well.
Going from standard headphones to these is night and day.
Perfect for the job
Sound quality is good, battery charge good.
Really comfortable to wea
Very good quality
I liked the quality of the sound, in ear comfort and everything about them
Good sound bit pricey
Love theses sound is great they should be for the price ! Tiny case fits great in jean pockets
They Rippp!
Opened the box and dialled the headphones in with my phone… Had them in for over an hour now listening to some heavy music/beats i.e Baseline, Trap, UK Bass, Drum and Bass… Just to see what they got.. And they Ripppp!!… Aslong as you find the correct size buds for your ears the delivery of sound is quality.. very crisp and the Bass is wicked
Not bad but is that damning with faint praise?
The buds and case have a very nice build quality. Set up is a bit of a pain and connection can be lost. I kept losing connection on a flight to Italy so not sure if interference can be a problem. The touch pads don’t seem to be that responsive at times, and at other times an accidental brush against one or other can trigger changes you didn’t want. Sound is good for in ear phones but don’t expect over ear headphone quality. Bass extension doesnt seem that low, mids are okay, but upper mids and treble are very nice. Also they do seem to be very fussy with regards to ear piece selection. The ones provided just weren’t right for me so took a set off a spare pair of wired earphones. The app is a bit of a Mickey Mouse affair – very little to it and the EQ doesn’t really allow you to adjust sound in many ways. Overall, useful for travelling when space and weight is at a premium, but I’ll stick to my Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 wireless over ear or AKG 50bt headphones for most of my wireless listening. 3.5 stars – they are better than the average wireless earphones but I suspect later incarnations will improve on these significantly.
B&O
I know these are good , how ever my s9plus would not accept them 🙁
Superb sound quality
I love my new bang and olufsen earbuds. Best thing I’ve bought in a long time. Fantastic sound
very good sounding buds
i didn’t need wire free headphones it was more of a curious want so I purchased the Sony wf 1000 based on what hifi reviews. These sounded ok but nought special even after a lot faffing about with the app but i had to return them back as when they were damaged under the buds (refurbished purchase)
i was quite content not replace them but my ocd kicked in again when I saw these baby’s reduced
i gave them a go and was immediately impressed with the audio quality, 10 x more superior than the what hifi best sounder the sony, not even on the same level
no need to burn in straight out the box they impressed me with every genre of music i played
i have now made my Akg wired headphones redundant (going cheap offers considered) and will blow the dust of my ipod classic bluetooth adapter
i don’t like the charger it’s will be prone to disappearing or the lack of a find my bud function but at this price i will make do
Don’t let negative reviews dissuade you - these are super!
Absolutely great earphones. I was very hesitant after reading a lot of negative reviews, but am very glad I purchased these. Incredibly easy to set up and absolutely no connectivity issues.
They are neat in the ear, they are a snug fit in medium inserts, and after about 20 hours of wear have shown no signs of dislodging during running.
The sound is terrific, and the fact that the case provides two additional charges is incredibly useful.
All in all, fabulous and far superior to the Bose Soundsports that I have also owned.
My 1st set of ear pods, build quality and the price point is to be expected of bang and Olufsen, and whilst wearing them you know there in and working, but no weight so no no ear fatigue to speak of, this coming from someone who usually wears over the ear Sony Bluetooth headphones, the sound quality is lacking from what I’m used too, bit for sheer portability these things are brilliant, not like I can fit my extra beefy oversized headphones in a case in my chest pocket!
If your looking for a good and solid product, invest in these or the MKT model
I chose these buds based on some reviews and the quality brand B&O. As soon as you open a the box you can feel the quality from the case to the buds themselves. But it’s not all about looks, it more about the sound quality and this is where they let themselves down a little.
The setup was very easy, I have an IPhone X and as soon as I downloaded the app they connected very easily. The app is very basic I thought, doesn’t give you many options to set the sound quality. Out of the box the sound is very flat with no depth, I listen to a lot of rock music and there really isn’t enough Base. After changing some settings on the App and changing the equaliser on the phone the sound improved but got even better when I changed the buds for slightly larger ones.
After all the setting up and changing things about the sound is much better, the fit is excellent and the battery life is superb. If your willing to fine tune them you will have a much better experience.
Great product!
Using this product on my Apple Watch 4, Windows 10 PC and iPhoneXS. Sound quality is amazing, the only issue is that it will only stay tethered to one device at a time and this is nitpicking to be honest. Intention was to use it for listening to music while running or walking but ended up using it with my PC as well.
You will lose one.
Sound quality and finish are great. Battery life is so-so. The charging case is nifty and works well.
You need to tinker with the earbuds for a tight fit because these headphones are pretty bulky and will fall out. And when they fall out you lose them. And when you lose them you need to replace them. And when you replace them they are 109 each.
Make sure you fit the right size biros for your ears, mine has occasionally fallen ou
These are really very good, and particularly handy when cable headphones not suitable.
After some initial issues with the firmware upgrade, all brought about by my own reluctance to read instructions. All has went well. Downloaded the correct app and the upgrade went smoothly first time around. The sound seemed a bit low at first but then I found that with the phones Bluetooth volume at maximum the headphones still remained at around 75%. Using the touch feature on the right bud I was able to increase the volume to full and it is slightly too loud for me but at least the option is there.
The app enables the use and set up of the transparency feature and has the touch tone equaliser setting. There’s also a volume control on the bottom left. Through the app is also where future firmware updates will come through.
The call quality has been very clear both for myself and for the caller. No drop outs or any interference.
With my phone in my pocket the connection has never dropped or music paused. If Im in line of sight then the distance from phone to headphones is also good. Only when I start to move from room to room does the connection drop and music stutter.
Beoplay E8 wireless bluetooth earphones
These headphones are fantastic I have had no issues with them so far looks and sounds great and the charging case is easily carried in your pocke
The design and sound quality of these is far better than Apple AirPods, so much so that I have bought a second pair of these as they were on offer for 209 as opposed to their RRP of 269. I know, they’re expensive, but trust me you really do get what you pay for. The only thing which irritated me was the setup process, to update them you have to use your phone and do it over Bluetooth which took me 30 mins, why can’t I update them with my PC using the usb cable? That leads me to my second minor issue, the cable – it’s 2018 and we still have to use microUSB, type C would have been nice, can’t see why B&O did this, I own the Beoplay A1 too which does use type C. As I own an S9+ it would mean I only need to use one cable to charge all my devices. Overall I would recommend these to anyone in the market for true wireless earphones and can safely say they trump AirPods.
Worth the money
I was keen to buy higher quality earphones in the upper price range. This is undoubtedly a pricey product but it doesnt dissappoint.
I was split between these or the Bose wireless version but i found the Bose’ bass to be overpowering compared to the B&O and the design didnt feel well in my ears.
I was surprised to see the rather lower rating (3.5) on amazon. But having purchased it i would defo recommend it. Feels like high quality material and the sound is amazing. Battery hasnt been a problem either as its continuously charging when im not using it.
Amazing!
Amazing sound quality! Beautiful case! I was a bit nervous ordering because I was wondering how big the case would be as I want it to fit comfortably into my trouser pocket… And I was tremendeously reliefed seeing the case is very compact. I love the product and using it every day. Very convenient to take the ear pieces in and out.
Amazing
These are absolutely amazing, the build and sound quality is second to none
Well worth the money you won’t be disappointed
Excellent sound quality
Before buying this product I read loads of reviews for different brands and models. At the end I decided to take the plunge and order this. They are very comfortable, do not fall off and the sound quality is simply amazing as you would expect from B&O. Highly recommended!
No “true wireless” ear buds are perfect, but for listening to music at least, these are probably the best you can get right now.
The sound is very good, if you get the right fit, and they are secure in the ear. I am using Comply Foam Sport Pro tips, which work well.
The touch controls work well, and whilst the Transparency Mode is perhaps a bit of a gimmick, it works well.
The connection is also strong. I’ve tried them with an iPhone X, a Taotronics Bluetooth transmitter (connected to a Nintendo Switch), an LG TV about 3m away, and an Apple Watch whilst running. I’ve not had any major drop outs. There are however a fair amount of reviews that say they have, and I even confirmed with Amazon that I could return them if I experienced problems. After about a week, I’ve decided I have no material issues. Maybe a handful of sturters during a 30min run using an Apple Warch S1 stand-alone (no phone), which is probably the weakest signal (I wear the watch on my left wrist and the signal goes to the right ear bud). Note that if you keep keep the ear buds far apart, the left one will drop out.
I wish it had the ability to automatically start/stop music when putting the ear bud in / taking it out; ideally it’d stream equally well to either left or right; and for calls the mic is quite far away from your voice and noticeably worse than the Apple AirPods. And they cost too much.
But if you want hifi sound, decent noise isolation, good build quality and good looks, these are the ones to buy.
Ok! So I ummed and ahhed about buying these because of all the mixed reviews, more of which are negative, highlighting Bluetooth drop out and pairing trouble etc.
I’m Glad I through caution to the wind…..unbelievably easy to pair, I haven’t had any drop out in the slightest. Once paired. As soon as you turn them on they pair up immediately.
Have I mentioned the sound quality yet? I’m blown away on all levels, how does something so small carry heavy deep base like this? Must be B&O magic! Just make sure you get right silicone to fit you ear, slightly too small and no depth to the sound.
I found them easy to use and the app is fairly intuitive.
So if you’ve read this far……Buy them!
No issues this fa
No issues for these. Very easy to update but the transfer takes approximately 20 minutes. Having looked through some of the reviews here on amazon, I can not relate to those yet.
I am using the comply foam and it is amazing, I can recommend using those. Lastly, the transparent feature works as a charm, making it easy to talk with the cashier when you are shopping or having the awareness of cars when commuting to work or school.
Just Perfec
Just Perfect.
I was a little reluctant in getting these after reading all the negative reviews but I listened to my instinct and purchased these. I am glad I did as these are simply great. The voice quality, connectivity, range, looks etc everything is great. Will learn more about reliabilty in the next few days/months.
Problems fixed after latest firmware update
Disconnection issues and imbalance issues fixed after latest firmware update 🙂
I’ve had the E8 for almost three months now using them as my daily commute in ears and – after a period of getting used to my first pair of wireless in ears – am glad that I’ve taken the leap. I do however see some improvements, some of which could be made in future software updates.
Connection Quality
Being my first wireless pair and being even fully wireless I was surprised by how much a difference it makes to not have a cable dangling down my ears. I sill use my IE80 at home but solely use the E8 while on the go. Every now and then the connection has a little hiccup but I blame that on the shortcomings of the Bluetooth standard rather than B&O’s implementation there off. Since the update to the latest software which fixes an annoying bug which resulted in the left earpiece being quieter than the right after a connection drop, the connection is now as stable as I’d expect any good Bluetooth connection to be. Pairing with my iPhone SE and 8 is pretty much flawless.
Fit & Touch Controls
Of course one doesn’t want their fancy in ears to drop into a sewer or the likes and I’ve never had any issues with them coming lose while on the move and would expect that to hold true for workouts too. An ear too size between medium and small would have been great for my left ear but overall fit is very good and comfortable.
The touch control work pretty well and certainly seem like a better idea than haptic buttons pushing the earpieces into my ear with every push. They are pretty intuitive and do add a lot to the UX side of things. Sometimes it doesn’t register the second tap to skip a song and stops the music instead but that might just be me not hitting it properly while walking.
Sound
If you’re anything like me you’ve spent your hard earned money on one of the most expensive in ears out there because you wanted wireless in ears AND good sound quality. Overall, I think the E8 achieve that but it shouldn’t come as a surprise that they are not as good sounding as a 200+ wired pair. They have a lot of detail to offer, mids are decent and the bass is quite well defined. However, both my IE80 from Sennheiser and P7 over ear from Bowers & Wilkins (both with bass that hits harder and smoother treble) sound noticeably better, even after getting used to the E8’s sound signature. The E8 can also have quite harsch treble at times. Thanks to the AAC codec on iOS I cannot complain about any (audible) degradation due to compression of the Bluetooth signal. I’d say you get a 150 pair of in ears and pay 100 to take off the wires and put a B&O logo on the outside.
All this is with the equaliser switched off, mainly due to the reason that I simply don’t like the way it’s been implemented. It looks intuitive at first but the “Grid” implementation means you always have to change the sound on two dimensions at once meaning that I CAN reduce the treble a little but not without boosting the bass too much or loosing all bite to the mids. I wish there was a classic EQ with separate frequencies – something that could be added to the app with an update. The app by the way is easy enough to use for setup but you don’t really have to open it again after that.
Battery Life
Probably my biggest concern when going wireless was running out of battery when trying to forget about a busy train around me. I’m actually pretty happy with battery life, only once have I found myself with the left earpiece out of hoovers while the right side still played. They do however seem to discharge over the course of 2 weeks when in the carrying case when they should actually be completely switched off. Not an issue usually though.
Exceptional sound quality - Great form facto
I have been blow away by the sound quality (I use an equalizer on both my phone and computer to tune it to my personal preferences, which you’ll probably have to do), I’ve had a long history of premium headphones and those ones manage to offer uncompromised sound quality for what is now my prefered form factor.
I’m now too much on the move for cable jacks and the one with just a cable in between well first of all still have a cable, and can’t take me through a day, whereas being able to pop some juice in at lunch time or in a meeting then poping them back in is just seamless.
Provide very good noise isolation too with the foam tips, very confortable, doesn’t fall off even when skateboarding almost day.
Connection is ok, doesn’t fail but requires me to select them manually compared to my other headphones which find my bluetooth automatically, that’s the only drawback, not a big one tbf
Great sound, quality package.
Really really good, sound quality excellent. Easy to use. No connection issues.. very pleased with these.
Epic sound quality
Had these for about 5 months now.Great sound & quality had no problems pairing to my s7 and lately my new s9+. At first had occasional short drop outs of connection but after 2 firmware updates they work perfectly. Supper quality sound especially with s9 Dolby atoms. Comfortable light and easy to use. I love them use all day at work with a case charge at lunch. Best thing I’ve purchased this year.
The sounds quality is great considering the size, the controls are easy enough to use once you get used to them – bit of a delay in pausing a track so easy to press twice which can be frustrating but you get used to it.
Set up however is horrendous – this would be a 5* product if the set up was improved – if you have the new android software you need to update the product firmware for it to work… I then had to uninstall and re-install the app. hope this helps others with same issue. When updating the firmware you cannot put the headphones back into the charging case as this turns them off and loses the connection.
Once you’re through the pain of set up though the connection is fine haven’t had a drop out – the noise cancelation options are quite good as well.
I would recommend this product but be prepared for a stressful hour on set up.
I must have owned about 15 different types of Bluetooth earphones over the last few years. These are BY FAR the best I have ever used. The sound is incredible, especially mids and vocals. Ensure they are correctly inserted in your ear and the noise isolation is superb. Further, the microphones will not be blocked by your earlobe, and when that’s the case, call handling is also excellent.
Transparency mode is very useful, and one of best implemented I’ve come across. Simply tap the left hand bud and the audio is silenced, the microphones kick in, and you can clearly hear what’s going on around you.
Great sound, great size. They come with Comply ear tips which provides great noise isolation. I purchased directly from a B&O store and I have not had many problems yet. Only problem I’ve had is range. I can’t keep my phone in my trouser pocket because the sound can sometimes cut out temporarily. However in my jacket pocket there is no issue. Battery life is acceptable and I never use them for the full 4 hours anyway so I don’t have any issues. Transparency mode is a great feature which I often use. Great build and sound quality. I’d definitely recommend buying from a B&O store so you can try them for yourself as the design might not be for everyone.
So far so good … wayyyy better than the H5s for very little more (purchased for 215)
Really good size, very light, almost unnoticeable to wear and feel very secure (haven’t run in them but would expect no issues). Effortless cool design (what else from B&O). Carry case is nice.
Sound quality is good, much better than the AirPods they replace not as good as my Shure SE535s but never expected them to be.
Not noticed any major drops in sound – apparently the right hand earpiece is the receiver to your phone so the issues I’ve experienced seem limited to when phone is located in a low left hand pocket. Easy fix.
The transparency function is useful (basically turns off music and activates the microphones) so you can hear / talk to people without removing pods – does sound a bit odd but is helpful.
Does the same thing as AirPods in that removing one earpiece shits music off to the other as well which I always though was a good feature.
Wished they ‘went up to 11’ … showing my age there … but I’m sure my audiologist would approve.
Happy days ! See these being my go-to headphones from now on.
Will update if any issues …
Don’t usually leave reviews, but having spent weeks reading other people’s reviews before buying these headphones, I feel I have to contribute back.
I have had these about a month now and am really pleased with them. Expensive but well worth it in my view. Really comfortable. Great charging case that is a practical size and looks and feels lovely. I have paired these with an iPhone 8 and an iPad Pro and have had none of the connectivity drop out some people have mentioned. The sound quality is incredible and the touch controls are pretty intuitive, if a tad sensitive.
Sound leakage is almost zero. I have sat listening to music at high volume and my partner has not been able to hear a thing. Makes me feel far less self conscious watching movies on the train or listening to “uncool” tunes sat next to a total stranger.
Considering how tiny and low key these ear buds are, it’s amazing that so much sound can emerge from them!
Takes a little bit of config but once sorted are worth every penny.
I’m not going to repeat what everyone else had said so will add my specific additional experience as follows:
When I put these in first time round I was really disappointed and angry, but, I messed about with the select of ear buds and the positioning in the ear and found the sweet spot (which I can do super quick now)
I decided to try these as the BOSE over ears are just too clunky and get damaged regarding regular daily use on the way to work.
Additional bonus: Can’t hear any external noise when these are inserted and the magnetic function in the case is a great feature and I can clip it to my belt so no worries about mislaying them
5 stars
Amazing earphones!!! I have never written a review for anything before but these headphones deserve 5 stars. Price will be a factor for some but well worth it in my opinion. Of the many headphones I have owned and own these are the best by a country mile. Excellent sound, great fit and look great.
Best true wireless earphones
For high quality true wireless headphones, these are the comfiest and best sounding ones I have found. They don’t look silly in the ear and feel very comfortable. Interchangeable tips means I can find the perfect fit, and the charging case is nice and small and feels luxurious. Amazing quality and worth the money!
These are fantastic set of headphones. Well worth the price – you certainly get what you pay for. The sound quality is lovely, and the feel and the fit of them is pretty wonderful too. Charges quickly and last a good while. In order to get the best out of them, you need to make sure you upgrade the firmware in the app when prompted.
Very Nice Ear Phones
Very nice styling product , very nice features which I did not expec
Best wireless in ear head phones by a mile
Great headphones. No issues at all. Make sure you upgrade the firmware in the app when prompted.
Great sound! Comfortable! Glad I didn't listen to the masses
Before I bought these I was worried by the mass amounts of people stating that the earphones were not working, like a paperweight, or something along those lines – the best piece of advice I can give anyone look if to buy these – update before use! Link them with the app, update the firmware, and you should be golden! I fell foul of this for a few minutes, took a step back and allowed the update to be done, they initially worked on my iPhone but not my note8, after the update – they worked like a dream on the note8!
I have seen a fair few notes about the weight affecting people, as an early adopter of wireless headphones, I see no issue with the weight and love the fit. Coming from a set of jaybird x2s to these has been great! I was worried as I love my x2s, and they have lasted me 3 years! The E8s are just more slick!
Something to remember for all those folks moving from cable – where else are they going to put the Bluetooth transceiver and battery?! If you have opted for truly wireless over the connected with a cable ones – accept the extra .5-1 gram on your head – if Not, may I suggest the jaybird x2/x3s or even the freedom line.
The sound quality is one of the best I have had the pleasure to use – I have had many iterations of the Bose in ears, countless senheisers, emoytec when they were about, and had a few occasions to use the old B&O wired headphones also – now these have a good that remind me of my bose cans, but not quite – though you have to remember these are wireless headphones, they ain’t going to satisfy everyone.
If you are like me and hate going anywhere without a set of headphones in your ears- these are fantastic! The passthrough feature for sound is fantastic, though a little impersonal/ lazy – saved me having to rip my plugs out when going through boarding at an airport – felt a little rude though I must admit!
The build quality makes me think they will last a fair while – and I would hope so at The price! The price is the only kicker, though it’s B&O what do you expect 🙂
First impressions are pretty good, the charging case is a great size
Had the H5’s previously, and am used the the Beoplay volume (which some say is quiet). For me it’s the same level of volume as the H5’s so didn’t have any issues with that. First impressions are pretty good, the charging case is a great size, and had a few drop outs of connection on first few uses, but nothing that’s put me off so far.
Quality
Sound great, After update app now works. Comfortable.. Sit in ear snug never fall out during a workout.
I’ve had these for a few weeks now and have decided the time is right to submit a review.
Firstly , prior to buying these I had been using the Bose Soundsport headphones ( which were excellent) apart from the connecting cable just seemed to pull on clothing all the time.
Having looked around for a while I decided to go for the E8’s , having read other reviews and for the totally wireless experience.
Well I can only say that I am very impressed with these.
1) They sit perfectly in the ear , are extremely discreet and there is no sound leakage whatsoever.
I have found these unbelievably comfortable even when wearing for long periods of time.
2) The ability to change the sound settings via the app is a big plus and now I’ve worn them in the sound is on par, if not better than my previous Bose earphones.
3) No catching on clothing at all due to no cables.
4) Set up is easy and connection is excellent with hardly any drop outs.
5) The carry charging case is small and easy to fit in most pockets.
6) The biggest plus for me with these is that as soon as you place them back in the case after use they recharge from the cases battery.
This means I only have to plug it into the mains about once or twice a week.
As someone who uses these for about 2 hours commute daily this is excellent.
To conclude , these are the best wireless earphones I have ever owned or used.
I thought that nothing could beat my Bose earphones but I’ve been happily proven wrong.
An excellent purchase , even for the high price.
I really want to give these 5 stars, because they are absolutely beautiful, the sound quality is amazing, and the fit and feel is perfect. However, for this price, they should be flawless, and they are not, quite. Firstly, there is a mildly annoying cut-out and signal drop, which happens about once in every 30 minutes or so of listening. The loss of sound is only momentary, but still noticeable. Secondly, the ergonomics of the remote control are frustrating. In essence, the logo-ed sides of the headphones are touch sensitive, and various combinations of tapping and pressing on the left and right phones command the music to stop, skip, louden and quiet, etc. However, given that this touch zone is basically all of the available surface of the headphone, once lodged in place, this means that any adjustment, brush against, or nudge of the headphones will engage some command or other. This is annoying. I’m not generally a fan of touch-screen interfaces, particularly for things I can’t see. In these circumstances, what you need is a button, ideally quite a large one, with a definite and tactile “click”, and a bit of tolerance for clumsiness. I forgive B&O for putting the style ahead of the ergonomics, in that they have the style so right, but do think that for this money, they could have put more into the intuitiveness of the interface.
OK, though, on to the good again. The whole experience of these headphones is extremely pleasurable, from unboxing, taking them out of their lovely little carry charger, to pairing (oh yes, the instructions for this are rubbish. Ignore where it says hold both headphones for 5 seconds – this actually stops them from pairing – and just hold for a couple of moments, until you see a blue flashing LED), to the first listening experience, to every subsequent moment walking around in a floating, peaceful, world of music. They work for running, and don’t dislodge. They work on trains, and don’t let in background noise. They work (weirdly) with your phone as a handsfree kit. They don’t look ridiculous in your ears. If they were cheaper, then 5 stars. If not for these couple of flaws, then 5 stars. Sometimes when i wear them and forget about these glitches, they feel like 5 stars, but for this money, should be perfect.
I expected a lot when the the B&O E8 headphones appeared on my review list. From the outset i wasnt let down, presentation wise they come packaged beautifully once opened your greeted with a hard shell leather case and 2 earbuds fitted automatically with the larger spec soft ear comforts. Teh pack comes with a range and i found the smaller set more comfortable.the case doubles as the charger and also holds 2 more charges itself for an on the go refill when needed.
on a day to day use they are perfect. the sound quality is amazing nothing short of perfection. they are very immersive when being used though and walking to work i found it a bit odd that initially i could almost feel my footsteps in my ears. The touch controls are a little none-responsive, especially the volume control. i found that id pause my song when adjusting them in my ears too. comfort wise though they are very easy to wear and alot more comfortable than their apple counterpart.
They pair well with my with my iphone and with my Hp laptop too and are great for the office, transparency mode is great so that they are less overpowering. I found i actually had the volume lower with these too. They were let down though when it came to more active use, i found that on a morning run i was worried they would come loose and they did. but other than that they are perfect for day to day commutes, office and home use.
The Sound
The reason we all buy Headphones/ Earphones is sound. These deliver. They produce refined sound, balanced sound. Most earphones tend to lack when it comes to bass. I listen to Reggae, RnB much of the time so bass is important to me. The E8 delivers impressive bass. But it’s the overall balance that makes them nice. My music library is about 60% flac and these earphones are bringing in the benefits of Hires Audio on a Xperia XZ which likes Hi-Res Audio. I love how the song sounds to have a lot of high pitched instruments.
B & O App — Tonal Manipulation:
Using the B & O App, the sound is very customisable. I am able to adjust the tonality of the sound to make the two ends sound as if they are far apart or closer together. The Beoplay E8, out of the box has the equalizers off, the white is right at the centre where the equaliser presets of Warm, Excited, Relaxed and Bright converge. The default ‘off’ setting feels like the most balanced sound setting. I get a punchier bass when I move the white dot to the top between Warm and Excited but on some songs, the bass sounds overpowering. It’s what I want on some songs and it’s just nice to have that power to control it. Dragging the white dot all the way down to between the Relaxed and Bright Presets seems to emphasise the treble, the bass is subdued. It is interesting when the white dot is at each extreme end in the middle plate. In all those positions, pitch the dot and drag out to make it bigger, changing the tonality and things becomes even more interesting. You can even save your customisations which will appear alongside the Presets, ready to kick in with a finger tap. Each Preset gives an indication of where the white Dot lies relative to the Default presets. Some settings give the illusion of surround sound than others so this the most customisable Head/ earphones in terms of sound I have ever come across.
Touch Controls
At first, I would stop the music when I wanted to increase volume. Now I am used. It may just require a bit of getting used. Now, I am accurate, increasing/ decreasing volume, stop/play music, turn on transparency 9allows ambient sound in, customisable too) and activating voice control features. These have amazing responsiveness, with few memorable gestures.
What nearly spoilt the Experience?
After upgrading the firmware from 5.1.0 to 5.2.0, I had serious trouble reconnecting to Bluetooth. After a lot of frustrations, I solved the problem by removing the Beoplay E8 from the App and from the Phone’s paired devices and started afresh setting them up. Now all is fine with the new firmware, though I have not noticed any change in sound quality or stability. For several days now, I am able to use them across different devices including Tablets and they are working
Super sound in tiny package
Very fine sounding earphones and very satisfying listen. Fit is very secure which was my main worry. I am now confident wearing these and not scared one will fall out. Control is easy and reliable once you get the hang of it. Phone calls good and clear. Battery life is as claimed as far as I can tell so far. Very expensive but a genuine quality item. The beoplay app is excellent too. Two software updates through the app in the past couple of months. Update – Had to switch back to silicon tips after comply tips lost grip and security in ear became an issue. On balance though impressive I think I would go for wired together Bluetooth earbuds in future as though these are in fact quite secure I get the feeling they are coming loose and can’t help keep putting my hand to my ear to check.
A few glitches but not enough to detract from a perfect “5”
Quite simply, the best “totally wireless” EarPod available to date.
There are a few glitches which occur across any Bluetooth device, namely occasional drops in the streamed audio.
The paint on the charging panel also doesn’t appear that durable.
Neither of these detract from the extremely high quality audio rendition.
Not so much bass as the Sony offering but highs and midrange are accurate and the soundstage spot on.
I recommend these highly.
High quality
These are excellent. I am not an expert audiophile so I can’t really compare them that well to other similar premium wireless ear buds.
The sound quality is very good and I couldn’t find anything to fault. I have tried them with a wide variety of music. The app work really well. There were no connectivity problems. The charging case really is useful and very easy to use. It does have a slight learning curve with tapping the ear bud to control it but It didn’t take that long to get used to it.
In 2016, Apple did away with the 3.5mm headphone socket on their phones. They did this because they had just invented the Bluetooth headset, and wanted to make sure that all Apple users spent even more to get their products. Well, other manufacturers are laughing at Mr Apple now, having successfully reverse engineered Bluetooth technology, and as a result, producing their own headsets.*
These little fellas come without wires, as expected, and a little case that is used to charge them initially, and subsequently another couple of times before that needs a recharge itself. The charging case, in my opinion could benefit from some sort of catch to stop it from opening easily — I’ve not tested thoroughly, but if I wanted to carry these on my keyring for example, I’d be most annoyed if they fell out of the case.
The set up of these earphones I unfortunately found extremely difficult. The buttons are touch sensitive, and as such there’s nothing to tell you if you’ve pressed them. It took me a few tries to get them switched on, and then another several minutes to get them to pair with my phone (Huawei P9), as they were not keen on pairing for no other reason than the button wasn’t pressed for long enough.
Once paired, the earphones were ready to go. You can play with further settings on these using the Beoplay app — I already had this installed from a speaker I have at home; it never worked with that previously, but it’s nice to see the latest update has both thee, and the speaker accessible with much ease.
So on to the music. I loaded up Spotify and hit play. The music played, and it sounded good. I’ve used many, many different headsets before now, and for the price of these, I don’t think the sound is particularly special — it’s a good quality, but nothing that’s going to wow you.
This is where the touch sensitive buttons are the most annoying; a touch on the left ear changes the sound transparency type, which is good as when I’m listening in the office I like to have it on the relevant setting that I can still hear colleagues or the phone. Touching the right ear controls the play/pause function, and holding on either will control the volume up/down. If the earpieces are uncomfortable, then you run the risk of hitting the buttons as you adjust them, so be careful here.
The main issue I’ve found with music playback, is that the play/pause button is not too keen on actually working with third party apps on Android: it works perfectly with Google Music, but with Spotify it refuses — unless I’ve just used the function within Google Music, then it works a few times with Spotify before giving up again.
So then we move on to phone calls. From my perspective this seemed to work well enough — I could hear the caller well, and the buttons to pick up and hang up worked as expected. I later found out from the caller however, that I sounded muffled — so perhaps something that needs working on there.
Overall, these earphones are a good piece of kit; the issue with Spotify may well be with Google’s API, or it could be a Spotify coding issue — it’s not necessarily the earphone’s fault, as they work well with Google’s own music product. I would prefer physical buttons however rather than touch sensitive ones, they don’t work as well as I’d expect for a product that costs this much.
*Note: Apple did not invent Bluetooth.
Delivery the Soond to the inner Space!
Delivery the Sound to the inner Space!
The B & O E8 earphones needs your personal experience!!
It simply delivery a Pure Sound directly
to your inner Space and from there it goes everywhere! Sound becomes an overwhelming experience. I could spend some more words about the design but
B & O doesn’t need it! Simplicity and pure forms are at the State of the Art.
Gratitude. R.
The B&O PLAY by Bang & Olufsen Beoplay E8 Premium Truly Wireless Bluetooth Earphones are a superior set of truly wireless headphones.
Competition wise there are about 2 other alternatives out there, namely Apples and Bose.
So to keep it simple it pays you to try them out and find out which is best for you.
But I will try to convey the good points about this set.
Firstly the sound is brilliant.
Other reviewers will have explained the ins and outs well and you can read the specs.
Hearing is a very personal thing. Also the type of music, sound and purpose varies from person to person.
Bang and Olufsen are the premium sound engineers and these earphones are tuned to perfection, so you may be sure you are getting one of the best sounding set of earphones.
The next consideration after the sound is the comfort. If the sound is great but the earphones uncomfortable then it’s just not worth the perseverance.
As you can imagine this set is remarkably comfortable. Even after a prolonged wearing of a couple of hours I still found them comfortable.
Looks wise they look superb and then there is the kudos of the brand name.
Simply put if you can afford them then you can not buy a finer set.
Wooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaah! Wow, yes, it is like that Dr. Who episode when the Cybermen get everyone through their wireless earbuds! (but in much better sound!). Really lightweight, easy to change bud size (many attachments are included) and the sound is EXCELLENT! Great range, treble / mid / bass… lovely balance between all of them. Tried a variety of music… bit of Cocteau Twins, Vaughan Williams, John Grant, Chameleons, 70’s funk, blues…. all sounding like they are in my head, perfectly balanced and sounding ACE! Go get some! Oh and recharging case is really cool too!
The most painful thing about these wonderful things is the price. Took just ten minutes to charge and five minutes to set up on an iPhone. Charge held well overnight. Instinctive touch control. Sound leaks a little bit on top volume, but you could be listening to speech in bed next to a sleeping partner and not wake them. They have a nifty charging case. The in ear phones fit into the case magnetically, so you can’t accidentally fail to charge them. The only downsides I can think of apart from the price is that they are quite bulky compared to wired earphones, and you have to wear both earpieces for them to function.
I bought these pre-release from B&O directly. In summary – well worth the money! I already own a number of the head/earphones by B&O and below I have tried to list the pros and cons of the pair I and hope it helps.
Pros:
– Wireless: unlike the H5 which has a cloth wire which unfortunately causes a hiss when the wire brushes against your shirts/jackets this pair doesn’t have any interference at all.
– Noise Cancelling (ANC): Unlike the H3 the noise cancelling on this pair is genuinely closer to the noise cancelling abilities of Bose, largely due to the fact that the earphones are embedded pretty deep in your ears. In fact this pair goes one step further but offering three levels of ANC, this is controlled through the app. Essentially instead of turning off the ANC it turns the (highly sensitive) mics on the device on and projects any outside sounds through the earpieces themselves instead of allowing sounds in the “traditional way” (i.e. by turning off the low frequency waves typical ANC devices emit)
– Battery life: 4 hours on a charge is a pretty solid listening time. More than that at a stretch I personally find is unrealistic – the charging case charges for 1 hour of use in 20 minutes which means a coffee break could give you another hour of music. When I was a student there were times I would need more than 4 hours and for that I recommend a wired headset as this is designed for mobility. Equally for long flights I would recommend the H3 (I continue to use both the H3 and E8 (reason below)).
– Design: Typically B&O – beautiful.
– Sound quality: Great range of sound. The app additionally means you can very simply alter the sound to your preference. The mid levels are where B&o really shows off and the clarity of sound in no way has been compromised in this little piece of kit, if anything the tuning got better!
– Fit: very intelligently designed to make it practically impossible to knock them out of the ear (significantly contrasts to the Apple Earpods). And the vast array of tips means you can adjust it perfectly to your ears.
-Touch controls: very intuitive and natural to use. Also very responsive (which took me by surprise). Hardest part is getting your fingers to tap on the centre when you cannot see what you are trying to tap.
Cons:
– 2 ears: When sitting at my desk I would like to be able to use just one ear, however, this pair only works with both the ears plugged in. This is the main reason I use my H3s so I can keep one ear open. I understand that this is an issue for most completely wireless headsets but the inconvenience took me by surprise and is the largest con for me.
– Case: The round case while aesthetically pleasing is a bit too round and feels awkward in pockets (girls will likely not need to worry about this one)
Summary: I gave it 5 stars because the most important part of any earphones for me are sound quality and this pair really nails that down without any interference and the ANC is definitely a vast improvement over the previous attempts from B&O with ANC. Happy to take any questions – Happy listening.
You will not regret this pair!
