It’s not brillaint but it’s not so bad that it’s useless. The app is not the best and keeps stopping. It can’t keep a lot of photos in the album or keep up with the speed you would flip through the photos and so it just crashes. Then it won’t open again for a minute or more. But the camera still records and stores the footage when the app won’t run so nothing is lost if you can’t get onto the app, but it will be lost if the camera itself crashes – which so far hasn’t happened. There is also a problem with feedback on the app when using the microphone to speak through, even when using it in other places outside of the home. It’s not bad but does annoy me. The app is also worse for crashing since getting the updated version.

I have an SD card in mine rather than use the cloud storage. It records continuously, and you can go into the recordings and play the footage (by clicking/pressing the arrow in the small circle on the left) or you can skip through a couple of stills from each recording (by clicking/pressing on the photo on the right, and scrolling through them.

It only stores the footage from each day for 24 hours, then you lose it – but because there is no instruction booklet that came with it then maybe I’m not storing it properly on my SD card…??? But you can take stills of the recordings through the app itself and store them in the album on there. These will then be kept in the album for around a day or so, which gives you time to then “screenshot” the stills on the device. (Sounds a bit complicated but it isn’t). Then either keep the photos on your device for as long as you want or need them or download onto an SD card, DVD or memory stick, or email them to yourself for safe keeping.

The motion sensor isn’t the best and it misses things like people walking by, but then I have it more than 3 metres up the wall. I also have mine indoors. I would say that if you’re going to do the same then it won’t give decent image quality through net curtains. You’ll need to put the nets behind the camera, and then the glare of the nets will reflect on the window, meaning lesser picture quality. It’s best with no net curtains or curtains but if you want curtains/nets then try darker curtain linings, as they wont reflect in the glass and cause glare. (Test that theory with some dark fabric before splashing out for dark nets or dark curtains as it will depend on how the sun streams into your window). I also find that to counteract glare, night mode is better on in the day and day mode is better in the night for me. The night mode takes off the glare of the curtains (net and lined curtains) during the day but gives a black and white recording, whilst there is a street lamp near my home, so this lights up the street enough that the day mode is better at night.

All in all, it’s not bad considering the price. I think it’s probably a lot better than some of these types of cameras on the market. It’s a bit of work when you’re trying to catch people in the act of doing something they shouldn’t be – vandalism, dog fouling and owners not cleaning it up, neighbours throwing rubbish over the fence into your garden or even just as added security… it will catch people eventually if they’re near this camera, and you’ll hear them as well.
