Great value and very robustly made floor control for Midi and expression pedals for my Fractal guitar modelling and effects unit. The bonus of two expression pedals that I can assign to volume, wah and pitch blocks makes it very useful.
Has a few good effects possible.
If you’re going to use it on floor and only use one effect that’s great.
If you wish to use a few of the effects, you’ll be bending up anddown, choosing and adjusting the pedal controls.
But….. Easily solved it you can locate the pedal at waist height. perhaps on top of your amp or on music stand or similar. Easy to reach controls and switch on pedal with hand instead of foot.
You’ll get used to it!!!!
Good price for the effects you get.
My husband and sons are all avid guitarists and are reaching the point where the teens now need to start building their own pedal collections and patterns. Eldest bought this as it’s a very affordable price from a good brand (Behringer), and he will be able to add more pedals from their range to work together.
He’s very happy with the quality and sound – our only qualm was the plastic outer rather than it being metal which won’t stand up to ‘stomping’ during performances BUT – he doesn’t really stomp, and he’s confident enough in the strength of the pedal to use it naturally.
All in all, a great way to start experimenting with wider sounds at an affordable price. Thank you Behringer!
Since first coming across the company purchased many Behringer products and been extremely happy with every one, the TU-300 included. It’s just as accurate as any of the other tuners I have and easy to read
I regret having to give it only four stars for accuracy as because it is chromatic it easily picks up any note quickly and with no problems be your tuning to standard, flat or open tunings.
I took the one star off as it was purchased after reading here that I’d be able to use the pedal for alternate tunings such as A=432 / 436 etc. rather than the standard A=440. If it indeed possesses this function it isn’t very intuitive as I’m yet to find it.
Otherwise I have nothing negative to say about the pedal and would urge anyone who requires a tuner and doesn’t require that particular function, to get themselves one of these.
10/10. For the price the sound is phenomenal. It chugs and the tone sculpting variables are excellent. Serious value for money. Plastic case as with all the Behringer lines but perfect for recording or bedroom playing. For a very dirty sound it is very quiet in my pedalboard chain. Had heard good things and decent reviews so took a chance for the asking price. Far exceeded expectations. Would highly recommend for home use or for a beginner trying to get a metal sound. Bass at 2 oclock, mid at 9. Treble at 3. Gain at 11 and secondary tone at 10 and you are close to that 90s Metallica sound. Up the gain and you get that Panthera tone. Im sure some reviews will say it could be better but its a 20 quid pedal…and not a pro stage tool. Boxes well above its weight in my opinion!
A very reliable Dependable piece of kit
I use it for controlling keyboard voicing and effects, also use switching for rec play stop and effects in Daw
This is one of the best Berhinger Pedals to purchase. I own an Orig Ibanez TS808 in near new condition boxed. Which I want to preserve for my children who are studying music. So wanted a budget alternative. Testing both side by side, this Clone is perfect believe me, I’ve tried a few. Forget the fact its plastic. Unless your a dancing elephant on dope. This pedal should last and it sounds super. Highly Recommended
Very good Tube Screamer clone for an amazing price. I’ve heard people comment on the plastic housing but they are pretty robust. I had a plastic pedal that lasted years and I expect these to be similar, if you found a way to break it you’d have to be very careless / heavy footed, at which point you’d damage the knobs on a metal housing anyway.
Beyond that, it’s a classic Tube Screamer: look online at the comparison videos, I can’t tell the difference…it’s bang on. Great for cleaning up heavy tones or boosting in the amp. Or used as overdrive it gives a nice bluesy tone from edge of breakup to driven. The tone control gives you a good range of tone, from dark and muddy to bright and thin at the extremes, though largely I think somewhere in the middle will suit most people.
For the price, if you want to try out that sound, it’s worth your money; it’s a fraction of the cost of an Ibanaez version so unless you regularly play football with it, it’s going to do just fine for a few years I should think.
Experience gained from the very recent purchase of other Behringer pedals meant that I already knew the plastic construction would not be detrimental, as it is of a robust, high density, heavyweight variety.
The performance didn’t disappoint either.
It does everything you would expect of something costing four, five or six times the purchase price, and it does it really well.
The byepass works well. I currently have it in second position on a four-pedal board and the throughput is unaffected by any of them, and only one of which isn’t a behringer.
If powering by the convenient battery option (a single 9v in this instance), when not in use, never leave a jack plug in the “In” socket because whether or not the pedal is in the “on” depressed position, your battery will be drained “flat”! There is reference to this in the accompanying documentation, but didn’t notice.
Consequently, having set up and put aside a new four-pedal chain, replete with fresh batteries, I later discovered, on its next outing, that all but the first pedal was “dead” (first pedal had guitar jack plug removed).
This is all probably old news to experienced pedal professionals, but I’m a newby learning by mistakes.
As with all Behringer pedals, they are fantastic value for money.
Recently had a disappointment, however, with the Behringer UO300 Ultra Octaver Effects Pedal which was either faulty os simply rubbish. Never ascertained which. Sent it back. Got no feedback on the return.
I’ve been playing guitar for about 18 years (on and off) and recently my brother in law started learning so I picked the guitar back up to try and give him some basic lessons.
He’s come on leaps and bounds in 6 months and has a bigger pedal collection than me! I recently bought a few pedals off eBay (Boss Ds1, MD2, Digitech Grunge, electro Harmonix big muff) and was extremely disappointed with all of them except the MD2. I decided to buy this Behringer pedal for 20 as I’d already spent over 100 on these other pedals.
Build quality is pretty good considering it’s plastic, this has obviously been used to keep the costs down. It can definitely take a pounding when used for gigs! I love the look of the pedal due to its bright fluorescent pink colouring which is contrary to the genre of music it was made for. I plugged this straight into the effects loop of my boss katana amp and was a bit “meh” with it so I put it straight into the amps input and went through the clean channel. After mixing the settings on both the pedal and amp I am very happy with this pedal considering how little it cost. It can sound a bit fuzzy rather than metal but it’s great for some low end metal riffs.
After being impressed with this pedal I have decided to buy some more Behringer pedals but from Andertons as they are just 21:99 each (purchased ultra metal and the tube amp modeller).
I am genuinely very impressed with these Behringer pedals and will definitely be keeping them.
Cheap, no frills compressor that doesn’t add hiss or change the tone when it’s off.
Built to a price so it’s let down by its plastic body and mushy foot switch.
Comes in a box and has an easy to understand manual.
Need a compressor? This will do the job if the plastic body doesn’t break.
This MIDI controller works great, but you have to do some searching (e.g. “FCB1010 Presets” or “Behringer FCB1010 Users”) to clarify how to use it.
un peut trop massif mais pour le prix fait la job
Un gran aparato, el unico problema es que no tiene una utilidad propia para personalizarlo y los menus son complejos de entender, aunque hay algunas utilidades para pc que lo suplen perfectamente.
Easy to use, once you figure out…or have/let someone figure out getting your gear to communicate. This pedal is awesome. Love the large buttons, makes quick work of sweet lighting changes in live shows
Not easy to setup but for the price it’s worth i
Fantastic product, extremely versatile and easy to use.
The price on top of that made it a no braine
It took a while to figure out how to get this thing mapped for mainstage. I use it in worship band and it’s great. You essentially get like 100 mappable buttons with the 10 banks you can program.
I thought I could tolerate the setup process and functionality of the default device.
Get the UNO Eprom mod even if you think it’s not worth the money. It will be more inspiring a device to use and you’ll spend less of your TIME trying to figure it out.
I wasn’t keen on the switches as these can be stiff/difficult to engage if you’re practicing over soft, padded carpet, but I don’t have any problem with them. Feels sturdy/durable, and it’s reliable. However, it’d be nice if it had a USB port in addition to the midi ports as this results in compatibility issues with certain gear.
Brilliant, versatile piece of kit
(Once you can figure out how to program it.)
Throw the instructions away and find some online help.
I bought it for use with AmpliTube4 with my Mac. Works perfectly straight out the box. Best priced one on the market I have found if you want an all in one.
This thing is awesome. It controls my DAW for tracking and my virtual amps + FX presents, all with easy to use foot controls. I opened it up, got the online instructions from Behringer, read the instructions and started programming with my feet. A+ in my book.
I have an Eleven Rack by AVID, and this pedal board works great for my needs. I wanted something that was programmable (check) and compatible with the midi interface on my 11-rack (check). Needed to do some homework to program, but once I found a guide on youtube and the manual for my amp, I was off and running.
This is a solidly built midi floor pedal. That said, it is very difficult to program. I ended up buying a third party chip to make it work with my Kemper, and now it works with very little programming needed. I am really happy with it now.
Took a little while to setup if you havent assigned midi controllers before
The product itself is sturdily built and is easy to program once you have banged your head against a wall and despaired at the lack of information available. The instructions are pretty skimpy and it would not take much to fill them out with a few more real-world examples. I have got it to send note-on data but other, more exotic uses are still a mystery.
This is a flexible, good value midi controller. It was either this or one of the Keith McMillen foot controllers.
I’m pleased I chose this. The buttons are positive and the expression pedals map well to Ableton. You can send midi notes, CCs, PCs and work amp channels with it.
I was a bit thrown by some of the global settings- you need to read the current user instructions as I think some of the (very helpful in all other respects) YouTube vids refer to older firmware versions.
Programming it is a bit of a grind but not too difficult. It’s possible to spend a few quid and get a third party editor to make the process easier. So far I’ve resisted the temptation.
You can apparently swap out the EPROM for an upgrade (UNO) by a third party (say bye to warranty) which gives you an extra mode of use, but I haven’t felt the need as yet as I’m just using it stock for fx change and looping in ableton.
Pas simple simple utiliser quand on est pas habitu la programmation MIDI, mais finalement assez logique et permet d’avoir un produit assez simple. Pdale robuste et immobile. Trs content de mon choix
Good product, built well.I bought this to plug into my Chauvet Obey 70 to run my stage light show hands free.A little tricky programing at first but after that was done it works fantastic. I read its alot easier to program with a PC.
Works great with Guitar Rig 5… Just be sure to use one of the editing programs out there to simplify setup/programs.
Despite having the most absurd programming functionality like trying to program a computer from 1975 Russia, this unit is brilliant. If you can figure out the language, you’ll love it.
Pros:
-Versatile – with around 100 buttons (10 buttons x 10 banks), plus expression pedals, and being able to programme (with an editor), PCs, CCs and notes, this thing can do a hell of a lot
-Sturdy – built very well
-Functional – it works
Cons:
-Programming is tedious, especially if you’re not familiar with MIDI controls
-Hefty – takes up a fair bit of space and isn’t exactly lightweight either. I haven’t had to move it around town yet, but I don’t expect that’ll be trivial
– No manual, which is just laziness on the part of the manufacturer
It’s a good piece of hardware and I can’t really fault it, but, to a non-engineer, it looks as though it wouldn’t have been too difficult to make it better, e.g. by letting you select whether you wanted PC or CC control for any given button or simply providing some instruction on how to programme i
I can now…….
Want to sound like Metallica? Tony Iommi? This does it. Hi and low to max, mid to zero and away you go. Add a touch of echo, flanger or phaser and you are a guitar hero – add a pitch shifter – I use the donner mini unit and you are a guitar god. Instant Children of the Grave – Neon Knights – all player through a baby Blackstar valve HT1R and you are a one watt rocker! Worth every penny!!
Difficult to setup and get working, complicated. so beware you will need to spend a lot of time on you tube because instructions a really poor and not much on website.
I use mine mainly with Bias FX/BIAS, Logic Pro X, MainStage, and my Roland Juno JS-88 through an iConnectivityAudio4+ (iCA4+) interface into both a Retina MacBookPro and an iPad. I actually have two FCB1010 pedals daisy chained together with the Roland and ICA4+. I’ve also used the FCB with the iPad via the iCA4+ of course, with many iOS apps as well with no issues.
The thing is solid like a rock and heavy. The standard pedal feedback in not as positive as I would like it, i.e. no first sense of a solid clicks through my feet and things are a little close together for me, I have size 13 feet. The expression pedals are also soft and have very week tactile feedback as well. There range of motion is also shorted than I would like. For the price this is still a good deal, but I’m probably going to get a good expression/volume pedal as well to add to my chain. I could not find anything with better pedals for less than 3-4x the price. I did end up buying two of these 🙂
Perfect midi controller for the price, works great with my Axe Fx. I’d recommend the Eureka Prom chip for ease of use with guitar processors, it’s like 30 bucks and fairly straightforward to install.
Works flawlessly with Guitar rig 5 with the UNO chip for stompbox. after configuration, it’s awesome.
Great pedal, does everything I need with simple programming. Controls are road rugged quality and capable of withstanding years of use! Would recommend for anyone looking for a pedal to work with whatever rig you have!
I purchased this and a eurekaprom for my avid Eleven rack. The Eureka Prom took care of all the programming complaints and the board quality is extremely high for the price. Very happy with my purchase.
Be ready to spend a day or two doing Web searches on how to program this board.
Works well with my Eleven-Rack. Don’t waste your time with the stock chip, however. Buy the EurekaProm chip for like $35 and save yourself from thoughts of self-harm.
I rely on this as my midi controller for guitar. Switches work great. Volume pedals have a little to much play in them. Would be nice if they didn’t move quite so easily.
I don’t use a lot of Behringer products, but I can wholeheartedly recommend this one.
Superb piece of kit. Use with my Hauptwerk virtual organ.
Decent hardware but learning to program was a huge effort. The documentation needs to be more informative. I went with the Eureka Prom II for use my Eleven Rack. http://www.eurekasound.com/eurekaprom
I was pleasantly surprised at how easily this was to set up and begin using.
I had read the reviews and knew what I was getting in to when I purchased this controller: it was going to be a crash course in MIDI programming and difficult for a beginner. Also, that this board is inexpensive, comparably, for all of the features you get.
What I didn’t know is that the stock firmware works just fine for my application, which is Ableton Live 9 and multiple guitar VST’s. I ordered this board here, on 8-31-2015, I received the new model with stock FCB1010 Firmware version 2.5.1e, as confirmed by the free PC utility, FCBEditor.
I spent a lot of time looking at the UnO and Eureka eproms. I may still get one of those at some point but, for now I’ve been able to get Guitar Rig 5 and Overloud TH2 working perfectly, with stock FCB firmware, Ableton Live 9 and with a Scarlett Focusrite 6i6 controller.
Here is a must have utility for PC users: this free utility will allow you to program your FCB1010 without all of the pedal pushing on the board itself:
http://host.mtnsys.com:81/faq-fcb/PCEditorBeta.htm – If that link is not working, search for – PC Editor FCB1010. It is pointless to try and program the FCB1010 from the pedals, when this utility gets it done much easier and faster. I use this with Windows 7 x64 and can’t speak for other OS’s.
It’s good to have two MIDI cables, in/out, for programming. Buy two if you have none, as the FCB1010 doesn’t come with any.
If you can’t get the FCB1010 working with your VST’s in Ableton:
1. Insert a blank MIDI track
2. Set the input of the MIDI track to the MIDI receiver for your FCB1010 – in my case Scarlett Focusrite 6i6
3. Set the output of the MIDI track to the separate audio track that contains the guitar VST you want to pass MIDI control to – in my case Guitar Rig 5
4. Set the MIDI track to IN – not Auto or OFF
5. Make sure the track that contains your VST audio track is armed/record lit up on track – Guitar Rig 5 track, record button lit
6. Tap dance your way through 100 amps – 10 banks*10 presets
There are multiple youtube videos that will help you figure out assigning the expression pedals.CC# 7 for volume and CC#11 for wah is pretty standard.
I’m not going to say this was an easy task, it took me 15+ hours to get things right, mostly because of old and outdated info and software out there on the web, but this was a very rewarding experience. I learned a lot that can be applied in many different ways.
There are also a lot of useful mods out there, like powering the FCB1010 over the same MIDI cable, so you can have just one cable running to this board. And some more:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8m0v3Rr6f4U
If you like a challenge and the satisfaction of being able to control any part of your VST’s or DAW with your feet, you need the FCB1010.
If you own an AxeFXII Mark 2 this pedal accesses all 8 scenes in each pre setfood for thought. It works for me and it also works with the Eleven Rack from Digi Design or Pro Tools which I also use this with. It also works with the Kemper Profiling Amp and many more, you just have to understand MIDI CC’s and you are set. This is competition for the Fractal Footswitch, just the money makes it a good option, then add the learning part it’s a good way to outgrow the pedal and learn slowly what you can not get done with this pedal and then find a used Fractal Footswitch on eBay people are giving up on those pedals. I have seen them as low as 560.00. I got this with the new Eureka Sound E-PROM-enabled FCB1010 Chip that will make using this pedal so much easier than how they are delivered to you from Behringer.
DV
Great midi pedalboard for the price. Does everything I need it to. Only drawback is the learning curve to program the device and the flimsy feel to the expression pedals.
Works fantastic for switching patches on my axefx when playing gigs
does everything i need it too and then some. i was able to fold space with this and the realtime control with the footpedal was amazing like …a foot pedal . I did buy the eureka eprom update that helps this link up to many effects units and such in a simple yet very cool way. google it!
Great unit for Elevenrack Guitar Processor. Well made and reasonably priced!!
first time i ordered this, it didn’t even turn on. second one seems fine.
Great board Works well easy hook up
sturdy design and construction
Seems to fit the bill
Superb! I’ve always wanted one, and not disappointed to have it now. Its built like a tank. Its heavily weighted so won’t shift around on the floor. Programming it is a little fiddly but there are a number of options – java apps, Windows apps and some eprom swapouts – to make programming a doddle with a bit of extra research. I use it with an Eleven Rack box and it works great with it.
Only minor gripe I have it that at first I thought pedals didn’t work but digging around the internet revealed that most units need to have their pedals calibrated via a simple couple of presses of buttons and a special boot up process – details of which weren’t included in the flimsy manual. Five minutes of browsing a few relevant websites and it was all sorted. A great gadget, keenly priced on Amazon and it really is great VFM and enhances my ability to get the most out of my other guitar gear.
Works great with my Axe FX II. You just need to find a good tutorial to program it. After setting everything, it works great. Been gigging with it for over 2 years.
My husband ordered this controller. He is very excited to have it.
I’m very satisfied with this purchase.
Thanks Amazon
Sincerely,
William V. Chase
Works as described, great for a solid midi foot switch. I ended p getting a Ground Control Pro instead, but I did miss the expression pedals…
You need to learn midi to operate it, but after that it’s loads of fun!
Now this product is a 1 to 2 star product without a eureka prom. Basically, programming this thing is impossible. But a eureka prom is a preprogrammed chip you just plug in. Google it.
The buttons feel of high quality. The pedals work well too. The only reason I am not giving a 5 star is because you have to get the eureka prom to make this a usable product. And the pedals are a little squeaky feeling…
Using this with my Kemper Profiling Amp and installed the EurekaPROM chip. Works great – I have control of everything I need while playing live.
No problems with this really like it well made and solid. Programming is the only area I feel let’s it down ..once you know how it’s very easy unfortunately the instructions are poor and do not give you what you need. there are a few forums out there with some simple instructions which are far more useful!!
I chose this rating because once I fitted the new firmware I can go through my GR55 patches easily, the thing I can’t master is CC# program and control midi assignment thing, can’t get my head round it.
So patches/sounds are set up on GR55 and instead of pressing 2 pedals to go through the banks and pressing another to select a patch, now with the FC1010 is press a pedal and Bang there it is.
One can enjoy the device as it is. Otherwise, for 16 the functionality of controller can be extended (google for FCB101 UNO Firmware). I’ve opted for the second option.
The controller is not expensive, good looking, decently built: the outfit is not looking cheap. The foot buttons are plastic so I believe certain delicacy shall be observed in operation. I do not use it on stage, so this should not be an issue.
There is community on the web (yahoo.com […] where really nice advises are available. The power supply transformer in my case is a bit noisy, so I was able to follow one of solution published there to replace it with external power.
I can’t compare unit to other similar devices which are allegedly more expensive. In my case I prefer to cope with some limitations – some can be remedied by alternative firmware, see UNO above – but hate to pay extra for features that I’d never use.
Nothing beats it for a box with switches and a couple of pedals.
The on-board software – Nightmare.
I knew that going into it. Still the best you can do.

I bought this and ordered a Eureka PROM kit from eurekasound.com and I use this as a stompbox controller with Guitar Rig 5. It works great for that purpose. Wish the buttons were a little easier to depress but not a big concern. It is HUGE. Almost 2 and a half feet wide and about 10″ deep. The expression pedals function nicely. It does produce a slight ground noise when using the expression pedals, but I think this will be eliminated once I purpose an I/O. Good buy if you also purchase the chip.
This pedal does exactly what it says it will. I wanted to change to rack mounted effects and began by changing patches manually. The FCB1010 was recommended to me by a friend and has since been recommended to friends by me. It is a solid unit that has so far stood up well to live use and i see no reason to doubt it will last a long time. Programming is quick and easy and can be mostly be done standing or sitting. I say mostly because some of the global parameters require switching on the unit while holding a pedal down. It can control up to 5 midi units although i am only using it for 4 and the expression pedals can be set up to do pretty much anything that can be controlled by midi. There are also 2 1/4″ sockets which can be used in place of normal “on/off” type pedals for things like bypass. They can be set to operate in several different modes although i dont use them, instead i have set a “bypass” patch. My only criticism is the size. It is a very long unit and that will be a deciding factor for some. For me it isnt a problem.
All in all a great unit, well worth the price and should last for a very long time
Buy it if you like to tinker and tweak to get everything exactly the way you like it, avoid it if you like a simple plug and play device.
I love this pedal, after only a few man-hours of research and messing around with the settings it does everything I want it to — I currently have it setup to control my Reaper DAW on my PC, I can record, loop, create new tracks, adjust volume, and even more, all at my feet.
You’ll definitely want to download a free PC/Mac editor which will make programming the unit a breeze, and you’ll probably also need some sort of USB/MIDI interface if you plan on using it with a DAW.
TL;DR — a must-buy if you like to tinker.
I picked this one instead of the Line 6 shortboard for Ableton live recording and looping; it took some time to manually assign the midi messages from the board but, once done, it works perfectly. First I’ve tried to used it with a midi-usb cable but didn’t work.. now I am using it via midi through my soundcard.
ps.
Due to live’s midi mapping you’ll be only able to assign 6 of the 10 banks offered with the option of having 4 expression pedals per bank
There’s really nothing out there for the price that can match what this foot controller can do. The on-board programming is a bit fussy, but it works. There are also numerous programming software options available.
I am using it only as an expression pedal on a VTPO , ( Hauptwerk and Midiitzer ) which gives control to both chambers of the organ … the ten presets are being used as pistons for the pedal organ and some of the drums , cymbals etc .
I am sure that it would do far more than I am using it for but it satisfies my needs and would recommend it to others that are using midi vtpo .
Kind of a hassle to program, unless you download (free) software, and it also needs a firmware upgrade to fix a few things, but I’ve done neither of those things and still think it’s fantastic.
Works exactly as described and seems to be holding up really well. All the information about updating or hacking are on line…. not to hard
This Midi controller is perfect with the Eleven Rack. Great product, build well. Excellent mapping. The only thing you have to do is purchase the new chip before you can use with your 11Rack.
I purchase the FCB1010 about 8 month ago and installed a Vamprom Bass (eProm) from […], the first week. It works perfect with my Behringer Bass V-Amp Pro. NO issues one of the best investments I made. I use is 6 Days a week and have not failed once. Great job Behringer.
This controller does exactly what i wanted it to do. Behringer is usually a brand i stay awat from but the price is too good to pass up and its built very well!
After careful comparison and monitoring the various prices for a MIDI foot controllers, I decided on the Behringer FCB1010. It WAS DEFINITELY WORTH THE WAIT!
The FCB1010 is built like a tank; the foot pedals are firm with a solid feel to them. The 2 expression pedals are plastic and feel a bit loose for my tastes, but I soon got used to them. The flexibility of the unit and its functional capabilities are very impressive. You can control multiple MIDI devices with numerous separate functions. These functions include: program changes, continuous control, note on/off and much more.
Many of the user reviews I read complained about the difficulty of learning how to program the unit, and they were correct. However, with a little patience and some hands-on effort (or “foots-on” in this case)the FCB1010 can be tamed and made to do your MIDI bidding with ease. Yahoo forums and YouTube helped me immensely in learning to use the unit. I would also suggest downloading one of the free computer MIDI editing programs for the FCB1010 available online; I use Behringer FCB1010 MIDI PC Editor Utility by Mountain Systems Inc. (One caviet about using these type of editing tools: Learn to use the software AFTER learning to program it manually, unless you plan on taking your computer to every gig).
I give the FCB1010 4 stars because the included manual could have been better, but overall this is a great product. Thumbs up to Behringer and Amazon.com
2nd… This is by far, hundreds $, cheaper than anything that offers you nearly the flexibility that this does. I have been using it for months now and it is great and highly functional.
3rd… The drawback: It may not be as ruggedly made as the more expensive options. For example, one of my expression pedals completely lost it’s resistance and now it is kind of flappy. It still works but it is not as nice anymore. I can tell something broke off inside. But I could by a whole new one of these and still come in a few hundred less than the competition… so there ya go.
4th… the power cord could really be longer.
Let me re-iterate. This is NOT plug-n-play. Unless you have midi supported hardware that this device was designed to pair with, you will need to hack at it to get it right. It will take a long time, and you may get angry at it. But once you do, oh man oh man! You have one amazing controller with a crazy amount of options.
5 stars for the tinkering musician/producer/performer
0 stars if you want plug-n-play
PS – I suggest you buy the UNO eprom chip to expand its functionality even further.
Yes, it can be fairly challenging to program, but I spent a couple days simply researching online how others are using it with Ableton Live, and now the programming is not only easy, but fairly intuitive. I am controlling all aspects of Ableton Live (arming of tracks, navigating the session view, launching and stopping clips and scenes, etc.) completely hands free. As a guitar player, this is an essential piece of gear to truly get the most out of the app.
The previous reviewer who stated that it’s useless for Ableton simply didn’t understand how to program it to work with the software. What he was looking to do is easily done by configuring the pedal to send midi note information instead of CC messages. These behave exactly as he needed, allowing you to toggle anything on and off at will. Also, no need at all to get the 3rd party firmware (UNO) upgrade. Everything I’m doing with Ableton, I’m doing with the stock firmware. I have ordered the UNO firmware only because I want to experiment with some of its features, but it’s NOT needed to control Ableton at all.
Build quality is very good. Expression pedals are a bit flimsy feeling, but all else seems solidly put together.
5 stars if the expression pedals were a bit nicer, but at this price it’s a no-brainer. There’s nothing else out there that gives you this much control.
Great service from amazom, product was shipped fast.the fcb1010 is a little long, but I am useing it with the bvamp, so it is just plug and play.I waven’t figured out all that it does but it reads like it does a bunch of stuff.
use in a guitar rig for controlling amp channels and midi rack effects – I have upgraded to the “UNO” chip which gives me all the functionality I need. I am extremely happy I bought this controller instead of other controllers I considered (such as the Roland FC300) and thoroughly deserves the 5 star rating I have given it.
