Excellent additional security measure. Bit fiddly in connectivity bit once identified the correct item, straight forward to set up

I originally purchased the wired version of the blind motor and could I terrace it with the Alexa or my home so I replaced it with the WiFi battery version.
It was easy to installs and works perfectly so far. It is very quiet and works well with Alexa schedule so the blind closes just after sunset and opens just after sunrise.

All good so far. The acid test will be how long the battery lasts. About 1 month in and no need to charge it yet.

Nothing to dislike. Works very well, almost silent, which is a surprise given that it runs with a metal bead change. It has to be a continuous loop. Better wall plug might be an advantage. Easy to set up, I use the Smart Life phone app, which walks you through the set up and integrates it with Alexa seamlessly.

As smart devices go this is by far my favourite one. Took a wee while to get it set up but read the reviews for some help. It is worth persevering with it. Great for when you are away on holiday to as no need to get neighbours to come in and close the blinds. Works with Alexa. Mine did stop working but contacted Benexsmart and they sent a replacement no bother at all which I was so please with the great customer service. Definitely love it.

Now that they’re set up I’m extremely pleased with them. The battery hasn’t be recharged since I fitted them both around six weeks ago which is very impressive. The cord tension is critical and I spliced in some beaded cord to the smooth blind cord for my curtains as the cord kept slipping. Now it works great and I get a confirmation message too. Expensive but I’m happy with the two that I bough

Having had my motors in operation for almost a year, I thought a review would be useful. In summary, both the motors and service from Benexmart have been very good and I’d definitely recommend.

I bought two motors last July and they have been used in the lounge powering 2 roller blinds. A couple of weeks ago, one stopped working and I contacted the vendor to ask for advice. I was asked to send in a video showing the issue and they promptly agreed to send a replacement. Very good service!

I use them with Google Home and operate on a sundown/sunset routine and by voice as required. Whilst the initial set up is a bit fiddly and the instructions aren’t great, the result is a seamless integration with Google Home.

The battery life is incredible I think. I haven’t run them dry yet but they have only been charged twice in the year to date- and one of them runs a blind for a double patio door. I really couldn’t expect better than that.

Worth noting- the replacement I received is v2 of the product and setting the upper and lower limits is now much easier as you do it through the app rather than a button sequence on the unit. A significant improvement.

Overall, a very good product backed up by responsive and reasonable after sales service.

Reviews here seem to relate to the mixture of products so I’ll make it clear.
I purchased: “BENEXMART Tuya Zigbee Roller Shade Driver Built in Battery Blind Motor Alexa Google Assistant Voice Control (Tuya zigbee+ RF)”

TLDR: This thing is great, highly recommend purchasing a Tuya compatible hub (MoesGo) and a continuous chain (4.5mm) as the connecting link tends to make a horrible noise & don’t expect to use your chain manually ever again once its connected.

    Long Version:

I’ve been looking at buying a smart motor for my blinds for awhile but could never bring myself to spend the money, but after about a year I decided to treat myself and just do it! and decided on the “BENEXMART” Unit.

Opening the box, initial impressions were concerning as I noticed the included instructions look like they were printed from a standard home printer with dying ink as it was all faded but it was all generally useless anyway, I referred to Amazon questions personally.

Fortunately, pulling the unit out of the packaging I was reassured by the weight of the unit and it generally felt well built, and when firing it up the motor felt like it had plenty of power so I had no concerns about the unit itself.

A nice touch was the wall mount that makes it very easy to remove (press tab down, lift unit off.) for charging/maintenance so I’m not stuck running charging cables or cleaning it while its awkwardly mounted on the wall.

Now sticking it on the wall and sliding my existing blind chain through it, I found setting the up/down limits on the unit itself was a nightmare job, and it didn’t come with an included chain so it was gradually slipping throwing the limits off & making a horrible clicking sound with the connection link on my chain, it was clear I had a couple more minor purchases to make.

My plan always consisted of buying a Hub & connecting it to Alexa, it’s very important to get a hub with “Tuya” compatibility otherwise you’ll never get it to connect or show up, personally I went for a “MoesGo” Hub and it worked great via the Smart Life app.. personally I strongly suggest going the same, all of this stuff has a ‘Made In China’ vibe to it but if you go for the cheapest of the cheap offerings you make it harder on yourself and end up with poor instructions & apps that are shockingly translated (if translated at all) not to mention potential network security issues (which I don’t see any signs of with the MoesGo hub.)

Connecting to the hub was a bit fiddly as I couldn’t get it to show up but suddenly it appeared & just worked and hasn’t had any issues since, so I’m not sure if I was at fault or what but it was probably done in 10-15 minutes and from there everything was made easier – I could set limits via the app & attach to Alexa which took seconds, Alexa responds to Open / Close blind & set blind to 50-60% & allows (via Smart Life or Alexa routines) scheduling of open/closing etc

I also purchased a new roller blind chain, I think the important thing is the size of the ball chain which appears to be optimal at 4.5mm & to ensure there is plenty of tension on the chain – I purchased an endless chain (no connection link) from “First Blinds” and with the right wheel attached (it comes with 3 wheels in the box) I’ve had no no slippage, no dodgy noises since.

It’s worth mentioning once you have this all setup, you can forget about ever using the blind manually again as the motor is too stiff and very much feels as if you’ll break the motor or pull the blind off the wall, which means so you can get a pretty short chain and just rely on the motor in future, personally I rotated the blind and moved the puller so its in an awkward position behind an arm chain etc so I’m never tempted to tug on it & its now mostly hidden from view.

All in all I’m very happy, I’ve set a timer in the evening so the blinds close automatically & open in the morning not to mention its great when the sun hits the TV just to tell Alexa to close the blind by a percentage to block it out.

All in all, I’ll be watching this regularly for a price drop/sale and grabbing another for the kitchen asap.

Does exactly what is says on the tin!!! Blind goes up and down.
Instructions are nearly illegible and useless relied on the comments here!
Easy to fit to the wall, nightmare to connect to app!! I had to disable the 5ghz on router so that it works only at 2.4ghz.
After trial and error click the rest button once, the light will flash once, click and hold for 5/6secs and release. Light should flash. The device should now connect to the app. Use the smart home app seemed to work better.
Mum happy, so getting one for the another blind. Wish me luck with this one!!

Unit pairs up really easily and links to Alexa with no problems, only thing I’ve found that is a bit off is that if you say Alexa blind up it goes down and down goes up… but open and close or percentage commands work perfec

Bought a year ago, and has worked reliably in my kitchen since then on a large blind. Battery lasts months of at least daily use. I couldn’t find the charger cable today and seller has offered to send me one for a few pounds to cover postage – so top marks there.

After many failed attempts I recorded the action in slow motion. The beads on my chain are slightly off from what the gear is designed for. I added a rubber band, and not only is it fully functional but quieter too!
100% would buy again. But check the top review for setup instructions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Add a rubber band.

I was a little apprehensive about whether I could get these to do what I wanted, but I’m pleasantly surprised.

Installation is very straight forward, just mark the position on the wall and drill 2 holes. I’m using these with string pull (not beaded) curtains and they work really well, despite some others saying they slip, I’ve had no slipping at all. You just need to get 2 things right:

    1) Tension – You need to get plenty of tension on the cord. Not so much that you break it obviously, but not far off to prevent slipping. Fortunately there’s adjustment on the bracket, so it’s easy enough.

    2) Stop Limits – You need to set these carefully. If you set them too far the motor will continue to drive after the curtain has stopped, causing the cord to slip.

I bought the version with RF remote, so setting the stop limits is straight forward. No messing about with button combinations that others have reported, you can do it all with the remote.

I can also report that the zigbee version works perfectly with a Tasmota flashed Sonoff zigbee bridge and Hone Assistant ZHA. The device is recognised (make sure you’re up to date as the quirk has been added recently) and works perfectly.

If you are installing the Mobile App to connect the Wi-Fi convertor (as they call it) make sure you have switched your mobile phone to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection. This is required for installation only. Once the Wi-Fi convertor is connected to your Wi-Fi network you can switch phone back to receive 5 GHz Wi-Fi. Easy enough to install motor and app and end result is well worth any hassle.

  17. AndreSpain says:

The device is very good once it is all set up doing what it supposed to do! But it did drive me nuts for a time because the instructions are not clear and then it stopped working, so I had to do it all over again. The seller is very responsive but most of my answers regarding set up was using online videos by other unboxing reviewers.

I initially bought this to tilt my blinds slightly after, others said this device would do exactly that. It doesn’t.

So I’m now using it elsewhere to roll up a blind. It is a good device, but it is very expensive for what it is. I would buy again when on sale!

I am really pleased with this blind motor. Purchased to use with my new zebra blind and I was pleasant supprised with the quality and easy of setup.

I have the Wi-Fi version so it’s linked with Amazon Alexa and my phone for extra lazyness but the remote works just as well.

Set up in under 5 mins on the app and maanaged to set up upper and lower limits after playing around with it. Love that it’s linked to my Alexa routine so opens slightly when I need to wake up.

My blind is 3m x 1.5m and the motor handles it effortlessly. Battery life is really good but I am considering leaving the USB cable plugged in to save having to charge it.

Price was really competitive compared to other models and I will be purchasing more.

This is a great product if you want to convert your blinds to smart. There’s only few product with in built battery and this is one of the best. No need to plug into the power and can be charged separately if required. Happy with the quality, very sturdy. Used in roller and roman blinds and it works well with both of them. Highly recommend. Works great with alexa and there are plenty of option to automate with smartlife app.

    Instructions poo
    Google and YouTube confusing .

Here’s how I did it after 2 days of hell !

    1) dont set ANYTHING until the dongle has connected on your phone through the app you downloaded ( smartlife mine ) just turn the motor on and set the tension with your cord , attach to wall . I double sided taped mine . Plug the dongle in and wait for flashing .

2)go to your Wi-Fi settings and make sure your Wi-Fi is set 2.4G ONLY . Mine is 2.4G and ready for 5G – had to name both and connect ONLY to 2.4G on my phone network .

Connect the dongle to the app – be patient !

    3) setting the limits is SO easy in the app !

    4) open Alexa app on your phone and set up new device and voice commands- simple !

It’s confusing and frustrating at first , and seems so complicated, but once you’ve done it you realise how simple it is !

Had mine set up for a few weeks now running like clockwork

This is the best blind motor on the market for the price point.

    Setting up the limits
Once the device can be controlled from your phone using the Smart Life app or Tuya app you can then set the limits on the app. Simply position the blinds where the want the lower limit to be and hit set limit then use the remote to open the blind to the preferred higher or upper limit and then hit set upper limit and bang….. Limits set. Really simple.

I’ve had this device three months, had no problem and over bought another and plan to buy them for all the rooms we spend time in.

    Well worth it 100%

This is a great blind motor. It was just what I needed. I use it everyday with Alexa and I also have it on a schedule. My blind is 1.8m wide by 2m long and it works flawlessly. The seller’s customer service is amazing too – they have been very responsive and went above and beyond when I misplaced my charger for the unit. Can’t recommend this product and seller more. Amazing.

Very easy to install and setting limits with Tuya app was a breeze, I have left it over a week to see if there were any anomalies and I have it set on a schedule and also run it with alexa and must admit, it hasn’t faltered either way maintained the upper and lower limits as I set them, (I was concerned if it skipped a bead it would either travel too far up or down) I will look at getting more of these blind motors for the rest of my windows, the notifications for executing a scheduled commands are a nice touch

We have these installed on 6 blinds in the house, all controlled via Alexa and routines. Once you set them up, they work really well. We found they work better with metal blind chains, as the plastic ones stretch over time. The only thing we found tricky initially was the set up, as the instructions weren’t terribly clear. However, we contacted Benexmart direct, and they were very helpful. One of the dongles stopped working, and again, we contacted Benexmart, and they replaced it with no issues. So we found customer service is really switched on and helpful.

Bought this looking for something with direct Zigbee integration – no need to install a third-party app – for my Hubitat Elevation hub.

Works well, although you do need a driver – this can be installed directly or by using Hubitat Package manager.

    Pros:
    – Comes with several different wheels for different types of blind chain.
    – The motor body clips into a bracket on the wall, so it can easily be removed for charging (save having to make sure you mount it near a USB supply).
    – Very quiet – not silent, but certainly quieter than I thought it would be.

There are only a few downsides for me.
    – First and foremost, the instructions are virtually impossible to follow. I had to search YouTube for a video on how to program it (set the limits). However, once you know how it’s pretty easy to do.

    – Another slight issue, is this will only work one cord – I use it for vertical blinds, so I can easily change the orientation, but I can’t use it to actually open and close them like curtains.

    – Finally, once this is installed and in place, you can’t pull the cord manually without taking the motor away. This isn’t a problem if you want to open or close them – just press the button on the motor body – but it might be if you want to make a small adjustment, as you would have to press open or close and then stop when they get to the right position.

However, on the whole, so pleased with it I have bought another two.

I’d read so many reviews before I bought this. Some reviews said it was temperamental to setup, but this was anything but the case for me. The instructions were spot on and I set it up within a few minutes without a hitch. It works perfectly with Alexa and the battery life is brilliant, it will last at least three months on a full charge. Highly recommended.

Absolutely love this gadget. It works flawlessly, setting the blind limits is a bit of a faff, but thankfully you only need to do that when setting up. I have the battery version but have only used it on mains power.

Easy to fit, instructions not the clearest, only use with remote, internet set up far to complicated and unnecessary. Flashing red light on main bit annoying, couldn’t figure how to stop it, simply covered with tape.

Bought 2 of these to open and close the blinds in our bedroom. They have now been working with zero issues for 2 months and they work perfectly day in, day out.

The only minor issue I had with set-up was that I could not get them to work properly with the built-in Zigbee hub in our Alexa Show. The easy solution was just to purchase a 25 Zigbee hub and then the blind motors appeared in Alexa really easily.

    A few simple tips: –

    – Via Alexa the main control is On/Off for Open/Closed. You can reverse this.
    – The set-up instructions to set the limits for open/closed are a little cryptic. You have to press the same button to set all the limits.
    – It says you have the screw the motor mount to the wall. I used 3M Command strips for large pictures and they have worked a dream and allowed me to fix the motors to the UPVC window frame without damage.

Overall a really brilliant purchase. We have them opening at different times each morning and have set them to close at sunset. Also good to be able to override with the provided remote control if you want a lie in!

Really effective and reliable way to automate your existing blinds

  42. JosetteW82 says:

Connects to Alexa, goes up, goes down. I have it attached to my home cinema room – when I tell Alexa to switch on Cinema, everything is automated and the blackout blind now automatically comes down, too.

Follow instructions from other reviewers – really helped. In the App, you can invert the motor controls, too, if you find that Alexa is making the blind go down when you ask for it to go up.

Great piece of kit overall, perhaps slightly pricey for a simple automation motor but significantly cheaper than others and it appeals to my geeky side.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersI’ve wanted to add an Alexa controlled window blind to my smart home for some time and thought I would give this a try due to seeing some favourable reviews on YouTube. I made the right choice as it performs the task I want it to perfectly, despite the supplied instruction sheet which was useless! To educate myself on how to set the upper and lower limits, I had to consult the web. After working it out, I made a ‘quickie’ guide for myself so I don’t forget in future, which is below.

Setting the upper and lower limits:

    1) Insert plastic pin into the ‘Set’ hole underneath and press momentarily (LED flashes red once)
    2) Press the ‘Up’ button for a few seconds until the LED flashes red once
    3) Press the ‘UP’ button to move the blind to the desired upper limit
    4) Insert plastic pin into the ‘Set’ hole underneath and press momentarily (LED flashes red once)
    5) Press the ‘Up’ button momentarily (LED flashes red once)
    6) Press the ‘Down’ button to move the blind to the desired lower limit
    7) Insert plastic pin into the ‘Set’ hole underneath and press momentarily (LED flashes red once)
    8) Press the ‘Up’ button momentarily (LED flashes red once)

Once set up, you can use the app to set it to any position you want between the two pre-set limits, or you can just say “Alexa, open blind 40%” or whatever.

Other things that may be useful to know are:

Factory reset, only if you need to (this should be the default when first turned on from new)

    1) Insert plastic pin into the ‘Set’ hole underneath and press momentarily (LED flashes red once)
    2) Press the ‘Up’ button for a few seconds until the LED flashes red once
    3) Press the ‘Stop’ button momentarily (LED flashes blue once)

    Change motor drive direction

    1) Insert plastic pin into the ‘Set’ hole underneath and press momentarily (LED flashes red once)
    2) Press the ‘Down’ button momentarily (LED flashes red once)

Rather than using the Tuya app, I found that the ‘Smart Life’ app works just as well and seems to boot up a bit quicker. When adding a device in the app, choose ‘Small Home Appliance’ and from the list of devices select ‘Curtain (Wi-Fi)’.

The blind I’m using is 182cm x 162cm from Dunelm Mill, so fairly large. Although the blind motor was able to drive it, I got the impression that it was straining a bit, and there was also an annoying squeak coming from blind itself. So I had the idea of removing the tension spring from the ball chain mechanism of the blind which did the trick and now it’s virtually silent. I would only recommend doing this if you are confident with taking things apart, and it would of course void the warranty of the blind.

So overall I think this is an excellent, well made piece of kit which has more than exceeded my expectations, and which I can highly recommend.

Update: The blind continues to work flawlessly after a couple of months and it still makes me smile every time it obeys a voice command!

  44. TheoJDINecu says:

Easy to physically install but agree the instruction were a tad confusing. Another comment posted did the trick and worked perfectly:
Start with blind fully closed, then
    1. Press ‘Set’ button on bottom then up for 5-6 seconds (it’ll flash)
    2. Move blind to top. Press ‘Set’ button on bottom (light flashes) then UP button
    3. Move blind to bottom. Press ‘Set’ button on bottom then UP button (Don’t press down here)
    4. Move blind to middle. Press ‘Set’ button on bottom then Middle button.

Not super quick but who really cares, it works very well indeed – will be buying more!

I purchased this for my office blinds as I just renovated the office.

Firstly the product itself is well made and sturdy. Simple product also and does what it says on the tin. Set up was easy, drill the necessary holes and screw in the backplate. Then attach the device and the blind chain, and make sure the chain is tightly on the spinner or it will slip when functioning.

The only gripes I had were:

    1. The instructions to set the limits are not clear. Thanks to another reviewer here who gave proper instructions
    2. The arrow keys for up/down are opposite by default. I have no idea why this is necessary, but this can be changed with the settings. Sometimes however it reverts back to the opposite setting
    3. A plug would have been nice with the cable. Seeing as it’s a battery powered device

Other than those points above, I highly recommend this product. The remote control is great also. Alexa integration is a plus. I will definitely be buying more in the future

Once it was set up – made easier thanks to the tips in other reviews – it worked perfectly. The most important tip is substituting the word ‘up’ for ‘down’ when setting the bottom blind limit.

I’ve added it to a sunrise and sunset routine in Google Home, so it automatically opens the blind 30 mins after sunrise, and automatically closes at sunset. So we now don’t need to touch it at all.

It is pretty massive though, so while it’s perfect in our big kitchen window recess, I wouldn’t be happy with it on our smaller landing window as it would be too obtrusive and ugly.

Hard to work out, but if you’re fitting a few and get into a groove it speeds up the process a bit. It’s great having them open and close automatically via Alexa!

For setting high and low settings. Plastic pin for resetting wrong one had to trim.

Works very well once you decipher the code for setting the limits: the instructions are wrong. With mine, when the instructions say, “For upper limit, click the settings key (gets red light); click the Up key (gets red light)” it should say DOUBLE click in both cases. I only accidently cracked this by fumbling my clicking after a week of frustration. Oh, and its the same for the bottom limit; use the Up button although the instructions tell you to click the Down button.
And if you have failed make sure you clear all settings (one settings click held down until you get a red light (about 6 seconds) before trying again.

I have mine driving a blind 2m wide by 1.75m drop in heavy blackout material and it copes easily.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI already have another smart blind. It cost double the price of this one, has half the features, and no remote control. I thought I was taking a chance with a much cheaper item tbh. This blind is way better. Easier to set up, quieter, better features and even comes with a long range Rf remote control.
Works great with Alexa and easy to integrate in to routines. I have this one to close half way at sunset, then close completely an hour later. It automatically opens 30 minutes after sunrise. A little tip. If you are setting it up as a routine with Alexa (let’s assume on is closing) when setting the routine switch on wait 5 seconds then on again. This will put the blind in to fast mode. If you only select switch on (or off) once it will only operate in slow speed. This is because even with the remote you need to press twice to select the quicker rotation speed.
Fantastic piece of kit. Very impressed.

Good machine – I like that you can recharge it when needed.
Without programing or the App it works great.
Pairing it with the app is hard to do and I was unsuccessful with the app they recommend. but found online that Brilliant has an app and it sync with that app.

Working great now. I have it on two windows in my home!

Took a few goes to connect etc… but now it’s working it’s really good. Easy to install. Once connection issues were sorted I used the smartlife app. With alexa, blind only works stating on and off…but a quick routine setup got it working perfectly. I’m definitely buying more.

Initially issues with delivery but great customer service and perseverance on the sellers part sorted it out.

Watched Geek Street reviews on YT to help with setup. Recommended.

“Why on earth do we need to have our blinds automated?”, she said. “We were born with hands for a reason”, she said. “It’s not like we don’t have enough time to do it ourselves”, she said. Then I installed one of these excellent little devices and linked it to Alexa and scheduled it to open at 8am and close at sunset. Easy to install? Kind of – you need to plan for chain length as too slack and it will slip, too tight and it will struggle; Sheerness? (Whatever that is) I think it has it – it’s definitely sexy to watch and sexy to control. Value for money? Maybe, it’s a tad on the expensive side, but I’ve now bought three more and they all work like a dream. Has it changed my wife’s mind? She now thinks, “they are cool, but having them timed in the morning isn’t great if you are down to your underwear when they start to open”. If you are lazy like me and want to sex up your windows, buy them.

Product was easy to set up. Works well with Google home and automation with sunrise/sunset. The problem is its thick and it got in the way of zebra blinds itself. I had to relocate the device to the wall and it still functions.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI very nearly sent this back for a couple of reasons which I ended up solving (so kept it).

    1) my roller blind chain was too long so this would not fit. I tried shortening with a connector but the driver did not like it. In the end I pulled my blind down and fitted a shorter chain I bought from Amazon

    2) when I was playing with it initially it was very slow. Found out it has two speeds and the faster speed is OK.

The instructions that came with the unit where not very comprehensive but I found a great vid on a YouTube channel called Geek Street (very useful for how to install). This explained everything plus how to get it to work well with Alexa!

My final headache was getting the RF dongle / driver to be discovered with the app. After lots of faff the manual connection worked for me (auto scan didn’t ). I had to hold the reset button on the dongle down twice in a row to get it into the right mode so my phone could see it’s WiFi signal.

I installed mine with double sided 3M tape rather than screws – holds it fine.

My son loves it and I have it linked to an Alexa routine do it auto opens and closes but he can also show off to his mates by controlling it with his echo dot.

Really pleased now it’s all setup and working!

Great when you figure it out!

Bought this as a replacement for Soma blind motor for Roman blinds. Firstly it was slimmer than Soma (but a bit taller). Installation was fairly painless -having a backing plate to attach and then just slots into place. The instructions were not bad but pairing to the tuya app was a little tricky as the screens on current app are a little different to the pictures in the instructions, however managed without too much difficulty. At first blind moved very slowly but once the limits were set it moved much faster -and much faster than my old Soma motor. Was then able to link tuya app to Google home easily and could control the blind with voice commands like “open/close left blind” or “open left blind to 50%). Overall it is great value for money as remote also so you can manually open the blinds too. Adding routines to open and close 15 minutes
before/ after sunrise/ sunset was a doddle in tuya app. Build quality is good. Main draw back is that the wifi dongle needs to be permanently connected to a USB port. I want to get two more now so I will need to get a mini usb hub for the other two dongles. Was interested in the zigbee version as I have Phillips hue and Smartthings hubs but it seems from reviews that these won’t work and that zigbee functionality is not working properly so I’ll stick to the wifi version. Overall great buy. So much better than Soma that had no buttons, needed Soma connect bridge (135GBP) for Google home connectivity (that stopped working and was always a bit clunky even when it worked e.g you would have to say “ok Google talk to soma connect to open left blind”) and was very very slow to open/ close and more expensive. It cost me about 500GBP for 3 motors plus soma Connect…this will cost 210GBP and works so much better.
    –EDIT–
Bought two more for other windows. One was faulty could not get the motor to move – returned. Got replacement and managed to set both up EVENTUALLY. Getting them to be discovered by tuya app was incredibly frustrating. I was literally trying over and over again for about an hour using both EZ mode and app mode… can’t say what made it work in the end but I do recommend that you plug the dongle into a high powered outlet… initially trying plugging into the USB adapter from my old Soma blinds but wouldn’t pair until I plugged into an outlet extension tower with usb sockets.
I still think they are great apart from this one aspect.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe blind motor itself is decent. What I am a little dismayed at is the state of the zigbee receiver. It appears to me that all the zigbee receiver does is send RF signals to the motor to set its position; it doesn’t appear to receive any information from the motor. I was hoping that the zigbee connector could tell me the motor’s battery state, and at the very least could report the position of the blind to me, but it doesn’t. So I’m no better off than just having a dump rf controlled blind and manually sending rf signals to it from my automation system. It’s not very smart and it isn’t really up to the standard of a zigbee controlled device.

So let me just say it took me a while to get this working but once it was configured, all good.
I suggest going on YouTube and watching a couple of vids that explain how to successfully install the blinds as the instructions that come with the device are not very good.
You will need a Zigbee hub, it works with Alexa, Siri and the Tuya / Smart Life app.
Spend a bit of time setting the top and the bottom limits as my Roman Blinds may have been a bit heavy when rolling the blinds up and so was slipping near the top, so I simply moved the limit down a bit and job done.
I’ve got it set up so as the blinds come down / go up my Led strip lights go on.

  69. Anonymous says:

So blind works well, there is a included template to help mount it to the wall.
    App works well.
Intial setting of the limits is the HARDEST the instructions are WRONG.
to set upper limit – go to top position click set on the motor and red light flashes click up on motor red light flashes.
to set LOWER LIMIT- go to bottom position click set on the motor and red light flashes click UP (NOT DOWN LIKE IT SAYS IN THE INSTRUCTIONS THIS WILL REVERSE MOTOR DIRECTION) on motor red light flashes.

Connecting to app is not too difficult just plug in and dont touch anything go to app and go to auto discovery.

I have always wanted blinds that I could control through wifi but didn’t like the idea of wires so when I came across this product I thought I give them a try. I purchased 2 for my living room blinds, I can’t tell you how happy I am with them. I love them that much I purchased 2 more for my bedroom windows. I am on frequent occasions very late home in the evening so now its winter its great to be able to close my blinds remotely and turn on my lamps (I also have them linked to wifi) I did have a problem trying to set up one of the dongles so messaged the company. They were fantastic, got back in touch with me straight away to help me, they stayed in touch until the problem was solved. I am 100% satisfied with this company and its product. If you are debating whether to get one or not, go for it. I am so happy with the product and the service and will definitely be buying more of their products

These blind motors seem to be strong and well made. They integrate well with the Smart Life app which allows individual control and timed functions, including settings related to sunset and sunrise. I initially bought one and ended up with four, I was so impressed!

I initially had a bit of trouble getting this product to connect to the app, but it turns out my old gateway was the culprit! Once a new (functioning) one had been purchased the blinds machine connected with no problems.

I was initially worried about choosing this model over one with a solar panel – given that I live somwhere without a lot of sun (or it feels that way!) it probably wouldn’t have been of much use, but I didn’t want to have the hassle of having to charge it all the time! However, it’s still going strong after 4 weeks, so I’m happy if I only have to charge it every month or so.

The team at customer service were more than happy to help with any queries that I had, and were always very quick to respond.

Great product. Easy to fit and use. It was easy to set the top and bottom limits on the blind driver.
I bought this as stand alone as I have an echo show which has a Zigbee hub in it but it appears that it isn’t compatible so I got BENEXMART’s own zigbee hub and it works perfectly and integrates with Alexa. Only strange thing is that Alexa treats it as an on/off product, on opens the blind and off closes the blind not sure if this is a side effect of the plug in dongle but it is easy to set up a routine that changes the command to open or close. For me I have 2 blinds in my kitchen so I made this routine so both kitchen blind open or close on one command.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI have 3 of these and they work great. I have them setup with Alexa and also used the provided mount to put the magnetic remote control next to the blinds. 2 blinds have been paired with and operate from one remote. The blinds are used everyday and the battery life has been great, I’ve only just had to re-charge my first after nearly 2 months use. WiFi connection for Alexa works as long as the USB hub is within about 2m of the unit. Each unit requires its own USB hub. Vendor has kindly offered a single hub to control the two blinds that open and close together, awaiting delivery.
You set the top position, bottom position and mid position of the blind, they will then reliably open and close to those positions repeatedly. They open slower than by hand but not too slowly. I have metal chain loops that worked with the fitted sprocket on the unit, and the box comes with a selection for different chain types.
The only issue is that I now want them everywhere, which will be pricey.

This was purchased to operate vertical blinds ,it is a well presented product, has good design features which include a rechargeable battery and Zigbee convertor. The motor is small yet robust and looks good.
A hand remote is supplied as well as the Zigbee convertor ,all items are of good quality manufacture
The negative points are the instructions which proved difficult to understand with very small print detail, the Zigbee convertor did not respond as expected and there is no mention of how to change the remote battery.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI would have give 5 stars if the product was supplied with good instructions. I found a video on YouTube that helped a lot but still, difficult to set top, bottom and middle limits. Following the instructions for bottom limit, it reverses the motor (good feature but not indicated on the manual…) but still can set the bottom limit. Other than the instruction issue, I find the product very good and can be installed horizontally as well as vertically. Good quality and works very well.

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersI have installed 4 of these motors. The largest roller blind is 2.2 meters by 1.8 meters and the motor copes very well.A few points to note
    1) The motor will not function well with a non beaded cord especially if the blind is heavy as the cord will slip.
    2) you will need a beaded cord either plastic or metal, and it MUST be a CONTINUOUS loop with NO joins.Joining links will not pass through the motor or blind gears and the chain will break
    3) It is important to get the chain tension right or the chain will slip.
    4) I took one star off the install rating as there is a bad mistake in the instructions for setting the up and down travel limits. Both the up and down limits are set using the UP button on the remote, not as the instructions say.
This mistake drove me crackers till i figured it ou

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersI have been searching for a blind motor for a little while, but most are very expensive. I came across this one and it is very well priced. It has the smart home functionality I wanted.

So it came a lot faster than it was meant to and although it was easy to set up I would highly recommend you read the instructions so you don’t make a mistake.

I have the RF one and it connects with my Alexa and Google very well.

I can open and close the blind with my voice, with the included remote and also set a schedule for it to open and close on the app.

Oh and I had to contact customer service as I couldn’t connect the remote, they are the best customer service I’ve ever seen. They did a video for me of how to connect and sent it to me.

Overall, this is best blind motor you can buy and such great value for money. Literally a great product that works brilliantly with great customer service if you need it.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI purchased two of these based on a review and link posted by Paul Hibbert on YouTube, although the version he showed was labelled as a different manufacturer. They have been in place for two weeks now and the motors are fine and seem robust. I have them operating Roman blinds one of which is 2m long. No problems mechanically, not totally quiet but not as loud as I feared. The issues were the setup. Top and bottom limits were straightforward. The issue I have is with the communication between the WiFi dongle and motor. Please note this Is Bluetooth and has a maximum distance and ideally needs line of sight. I couldn’t place the dongles where I wanted as they were frustratingly 6 inches too far away. I would say max distance is around 4 metres. Bluetooth should do further than this although I couldn’t identify Bluetooth type. Initially I thought there was something wrong with WiFi and pairing until I played around with distances and dongle placement. Even though I now have them working with voice control the units have occasionally dropped the link and had to be paired again. Although there are some frustrations I am happy with them.
