Nice and easy to use . Only cuts small trees . Vibrates a lot so make sure you wear proper gloves . Wear a face covering as makes a lot of sawdust. We used to cut through small roots. The metal saw is good again only for small jobs
Very chuffed with this saw top notch and seller brilliant super quick delivery thank you so much x
Needed something to cut down some bushes/small trees. This was brilliant [as simple as that]
The saw was very versatile when I was reducing my shed panels into car boot size pieces!!
I really like the neatness and tidyness of this item, the saw unit and the different blades for different purposes, all contained within an attractive carrying case. Easy to assemble as required and easy to use. I find it a little bit heavy but I prefer it being substantial rather than light and flimsy.
Bought this to prune a mature apple tree. What an excellent tool for the job. Powerful enough and pleasant to use, I went through half a dozen pretty hefty branches in no time at all. The only gripe is the placement of the power cord but I quickly found the best place for it is over the shoulder. Haven’t tried a blade change yet. The carry case is well designed and seems robust.

My husband loves this, easy to use, robust. Does the job
Cutting sheet steel (2mm thick): the saw dealt with this easily. On the right setting for cutting steel, progress is steady and a bit slow, but letting the blade do the work and not exerting too much pressure helps. Seeing exactly where the cut is being made when keeping the saw guide flat to the sheet surface can be difficult – but the joint between the two parts of the shell case at the back does line up nicely with the cut line. Took me a few cuts before I spotted this aid!

Handy little tool, comes with 3 blades, and gets the job done, no problem.
I have a small work shop and it’s fantastic for stuff up to 7″.
This is a perfect and true statement.
I got it in December and I just had to change the wood blade well here wee go got blade it didn’t fit called the blade seller the blade I need no longer in stock. Now look down to the photos you will see Amazon nose about this and after getting told I wasn’t getting a refund I showed the photos on ther page I got my refund apart from 2. I didn’t understand why that I was 2. Short good machine but you can’t get wood blades

We had a couple of branches left to cut on our tree. One was approximately 4″ in diameter . As a pruning saw I cannot fault it. The job would have been extremely hard work had I tried to cut it manually however, the electric saw made light work of it. I’m very pleased with the purchase. It was money well spent. Easy assembly too. The carrying case is awful.

I love this saw! I am not able to saw through wood without too much effort so this has proved a great purchase. We have used to saw through branches of apple tree. Make raised beds using 2 inch thick timber. There is some vibration but I am able to handle it without problem.
Excellent equipment and easy to use on both wood and metal
Black and decker are better than Bosch in my opinion. Parts are cheaper and I still have a fully functional drill which is nearly 30yrs old .
eplacement for same item which failed after many years of use.
This is a little workhorse and does a great job. This is the second one I have bought. I would give the device 5 out of 5, but unfortunately the mechanism for swapping blades isn’t the easiest to use and was eventually the weak spot that broke on my last saw. The price and the use I got out of the saw did mean I felt more than justified to buy a replacement.

I received the saw in good time and have used it to cut branches of trees in my garden.I can recommend this saw to anyone. It is reasonably priced and performance is really good It comes with 3 saw blades which is useful. I recommend the top of the range one which comes with a carry case.
Great saw haven’t stopped using it since I got i
very versatile tool and easy to handle even for an old guy like me
Easy to set up, easy to use, does a good job keeping fficiently.
This is my first electric saw , I am now 83 , why did I wait so long to buy it , its just super. I am a lucky lady to have it.
The large blade is very good but the thin jigsaw blade bends and don’t cut straight, so I’m using the large blade only very good.
Light weight power tool. Does what a saw does! I don’t think it’s for the lumberjack in your life but definitely great for the smaller jobs. Easy to use.
This is amazing.. got this to do some pruning and its so good! Can cut a whole tree if you want to! so nice and smooth! Perfect!
Fantastic versatile saw. Only complaint is that you can see the blade when used as a jig saw
I bought this for cutting thick branches and driftwood, it’s works an absolute treat! After reading other reviews I’d just like to say it’s a real handy recip but by no means is it a chainsaw! so don’t expect to be flying though thick logs with a 50 reciprocating saw

Excellent did the job I needed it for no problems so far good value for the money even the Neigbour is buying one now he’s had a go of mine
My 20+ years old similar B&D electric saw kit finally stopped working. This replacement one is much improved. First it feels sturdy and powerful. Second, the blade attachment is very easy. The old model was always difficult and became harder with time. Third, the wood saw blade is much shorter. This improves the sturdiness when sawing wood. Fourh, the box is much smaller than before as a result of the shorter blade and ease of removing the blade (for storage).
I am not sure how the autoselect works. There is a manual setting for the type of blade. However the saw does seem to have variable speed.
I was impressed with the ease of cutting the 6 inch trunk of a (diseased) palm tree. This had been difficult with the old model and had been the cause of its demise.

So much easier to use than a normal saw, quicker too
Bought this for my dad and he’s over the moon with i
Perfect for cutting a full row of trees
Easy to handle . Well recommended
I had one of these but the basic one when I saw these I had to have one of them they are wonderful bits of kit always had b&f a name you can trus
great piece of equipment but wood blades could be made to last a bit longer and easier to obtain jigsaw mode a bit difficult but with practice not bad
Great for cutting large shrubbery. Not to heavy. Very versatile and tackles anything. Very impressed, I’ve just taken up a load of old decking and this made very short work of the planks.
Brilliant tool for cutting a lot wood.joist, cutting out old window frames, door frames or chopping up furniture for disposal and those ceiling laths.
Sturdy practical saw. So far have effortlessly cut through garden sleepers and pruned trees.
As yet not used on metal or as a jigsaw.
Best saw I’ve ever owned never used easier machine no messing around with screwdrivers change for blades very easy to use feel safe
It’s just a bit heavy is the only thing I could moan about. But I am a 68 year old female so maybe I need to do some weightlifting
I AM OVER THE MOON WITH THIS SAW. I USED IT YESTERDAY , THE VERY FIRST TIME I HAVE USED A POWER TOOL AND I WAS SO PLEASED. IT WAS SO REMARKABLE OF HOW EASY IT WAS TO USE. IT WAS ACCURATE AND SMOOTH TO USE.GOOD SOLID SIZE BUT EASY TO HANDLE . YESTERDAY I TRIED CUTTING A SMALL TREE DOWN , THE TRUNK WAS 13″….33CM….IN CIRCUMFERENCE , JUST OVER 4″….11CM IN DIAMETER AND, IT WENT THROUGH IT IN NO TIME AT ALL, AND WITH EASE. I CAN NOT WAIT TILL I AM OFF OUT AGAIN WITH IT TODAY. I ADVICE ANYONE HAVING DOUBTS ABOUT GETTING ONE OF THESE , DO NOT WAIT GET ONE.IT IS WELL WORTH THE MONEY. I KNOW IF YOU WANT A LARGE CHAIN SAW THIS IS NOT IT…. BUT, IT IS MY LITTLE CHAIN SAW AND I LOVE IT. IT IS MY ….”BABY”….. CHAN SAW. GOOD SHOPPING IT IS A GOOD BUY AND , I AM SURE YOU WILL BE AS HAPPY AS ME.

I bought this to cut down 2 large bushes. I found it so easy to use and it cut through them like a knife through butter. I would recommend this saw to anyone. Extremely pleased with how easy it was to use.
A good little saw, with a nice selection of blades. The fact that this version comes with a blow-molded case makes it a bit of a better deal.
Not put it through the most rigorous of testing just yet, but for the few things that I have used it for it has worked very well.
Black and Decker are not the most premium brand of power tools, but this seems to have the price vs quality thing about right.
I will update as I throw more things at it!
Have only used for cutting up felled trees, some ten inches in diameter, takes a while but beats sawing by hand. Fantastic addition to my tool kit.
What a lovely product we’ll made but unfortunately I have a weak arm and this product although compact it’s very heavy to lift and hold..
This is the daddy of power saws. It’s sole purpose is to cut through wood, metal and plastic and it does not disappoint. Took out a fairly large stump earlier and it didn’t even show any sign of strain and did the job very well and in a fraction of the time it would have taken to do manually. Instructions very clear and set up is very simple (slot saw in, lock and off you go). Very pleased with this product for the price – no more manual sawing nightmares!!!
Bought it to predominantly take down thick shrubs and small trees.
Did it no problem. Even a Sycamore tree that was in the middle of a thick weed type shrub.
Not much vibration either.
I’m exceptionally susceptible to that as I have spinal cord damage.
Good bit of kit so fa
Great piece of kit – a real workhorse that has easy cut through 4×4 fence posts and felled a modest fruit tree (with some care!l but just bear in mind it’s heavy!
I use this for woodwork and gardening. Have also used for cutting pvc pipes.
The main problem I have is the vibration. I often want to cut in situ and not clamp sth down. The vibrations, especially when I near the end of the cut, are sometimes so much I can’t even see what I’m cutting any more. I also bust the small blade cutting a root within about 5 seconds of using it. So the big blade is what stays on there all the time, for all jobs now. It has also popped out and flown across the drive once but I can’t exactly say why! It’s ok for basic jobs but if you wanted to cut dead straight, you might struggle.

Arrived promptly, well packaged. Great item. Easy to use and directions clear and concise. Ideal for small carpentry jobs around the house and garden. Delighted with purchase as a present for my father.
Having had a previous model of this saw for many years of use and abuse was sad when it made its last cut.
But now the new one has arrived and is even better than old one.
This saw does what it’s supposed to do.
I’ve used to cut down an old rambling hedge that had trunks in excess of 40-50 cms with no bother. I’ve also used it to cut through a railway-sleeper size timber; OK it took some time but a sight easier then using a hand saw..
I’ve yet to use anything other than the main (large) saw yet but I’m sure the’ll be effective for their intended purpose.
The grips are soft which makes handling the saw easier. Just don’t push it too hard and let the saw do the work.
This was very pleasant surprise given my previous BD experience. This device is excellent – powefful, versatile, compact. A version with a battery eould be even better.
Brilliant brilliant piece of kit.
I bought to replace the one I had that eventually gave up after 6 -7 years of abuse.
The case is a bonus as the last one was not the easiest to store and the cardboard box it came in was worse for wear.
Both my brothers after borrowing mine have now purchased one as well.
Mainly use in the garden for cutting thick branches but have used for cutting decking – also used the metal blade to cut piping – highly recommended.
I almost didn’t buy due to some of the negative feedback, glad i ignored these people. It works very well indeed, cut through large posts with ease and quickly. 4″ x 6″ notched fence posts, easy. So its very capable of cutting large solid wood, thinner wood like butter. Only one comment, the blade could do with being thickener, is a little flimsy as a few others suggested, but made no difference. Let the blade do the work, no pressure needed. Will see how log the blades last, but so far so good, impressed.

I have been using the wood cutter for cutting big branches and it has done the job.
I bought this for a specific job of cutting branches off a tree that was pushing against a fence. I found it easy to use. I was not prepared to pay a higher price for a saw with a rechargeable battery. (I bought a 25 metre extension cable instead.) Having dealt with the tree, the saw is back in its carry-case, ready for the next job. Nothing planned so far, but glad to have this tool for when I need it. I should mention that cutting through very substantial tough branches took a while, but the saw handled the work without overheating, and the cutting process was smooth and easy to manage. Always follow the safety precautions. This is a serious piece of equipment, not a toy.

Being a lady of mature years I found this a really useful tool. Easy to use, quite light in weight, I use it mostly in the garden for lopping branches.
Perfect for my needs. I’ve used it to cut down five tall trees having a trunk diameter of two to three and a half inches. Such cuts took something like two to four minutes without applying pressure. Rotating the saw a little around the back and front of the advancing cut helps.
Further size reduction of the felled trees or branches is more problematic unless one can contrive (by raising the tree slightly) the cut to open — otherwise the cut closes around the blade, grabbing it.
It is not well-suited to cutting the thin branches that a pruner or a lopper would slice through as rigidity of the cut zone is required.
I suggest wearing thick, loose-fitting garden/work gloves as I do before activating the saw so that if your finger comes in contact with the moving blade (like mine did, momentarily) you have a chance to retain said digit. (This is because the saw blade seems not to cut things that flex back and forth with the movement of the blade, and so the tip of the glove survives unharmed whereas your naked fingertip probably wouldn’t.) Otherwise it might be worth booking a taxi to A&E before using the saw.

I’ve used this so far for wood making short light work of it brilliant. Easy to replace the three different blades that come with it for wood, metal and plastic in the machine. Different speeds are set for different material I’d say a great buy. Not heavy or difficult to use.
Great new toy which takes the hard work out of sawing. Very pleased with the quality and price. Be careful buying blades for it as some will not fit and lock to this newer model even when they say they do( I have raised a complaint but still seem to be selling them?)
I had a previous version of the Scorpion and this one is a much more robust piece of kit. It feels stronger and better built than the old one. An excellent saw for odd jobs. Is it as precise as a well handled hand saw? Difficult for me to say.
I had a Black and Decker Scorpion Saw (Basic Model) which lasted approximately 20 years. Never had any problem with it. This one too is easy to use and setup, very useful if you’re getting on in years.
Brilliant, wish I’d bought one years ago & pleased I paid a bit extra for this model as it has better features. I’m a woman 70 & found it simple to use, a little heavy but it will now make DIY projects so much easier.
Great job of cutting up a bush that had grown into a small tree. Especially good at cutting down a rampant Yucca plant that had gone beserk as I had to lie underneath the needle leaves to access the trunk and although it’s quicker to continue using a sawing motion it went through it very quickly. Using a manual saw and I would have been stabbed continually by the plant. Great value. Thougt I would buy the case too which keeps it clean and very tidy for storage. Obviously it’s not super powerful or a chain saw and does suffer a little from vibration now and again depending on what material you are cutting but apart from that. Highly recommended.

his is a really handy tool for a great many uses i have used it for trimming doors to size and removing a row of unwanted trees, to name just a few of the many uses
I like sawing through tree timber but I find it exhausting. This electric saw is easier to use than I imagined. I sawed through some large tree timber quite easily. You must take a break after 15-20 mins as your hands ache from the vibration, but after a while I got used to the heavy weight and it’s certainly much easier than using a handsaw.
Purchased to assist my son and his wife to remove a large number of fir trees and garden fence panels from their new home that they had started with a hand saw only. Powerful and easy to use job completed in 2 short afternoons when first tree had taken almost a whole weekend. Hacksaw blade made short work of fence panel with metal bolt supports.Best to purchase additional blades at time of purchase if large job being done. Saw also cut scaffolding boards with ease to enable them to fit in medium car boot. Be sure to use rest in down position to stop vibrations when cutting boards
powerful little crittter. good quality and nice box, works well
Nice tool use it for sawing up branches at home and pallets. Haven’t used the jigsaw mode yet as I already have a jigsaw. Can’t think of anything bad about this so far easy to change blades as well and nice compact box for storage
Enabled me to remove a tree root that would have taken forever by hand. Seemed robust whilst getting round all the awkward angles. That exhausted one blade. Replacements for this model not widely in common UK DIY chains yet so plan ahead and order online.
Arrived on time good quality case and product
Used only once to saw tree stump where I felt that the blade should have bigger teeth to saw more quickly
Not what I needed for branch cutting will have to buy an electric chainsaw
Having said that there are many more uses for this item which I have yet to tes
Bulkier than my first B&D scorpion which didn’t last too long, the clamp that holds the blade on fell apart.
Used it this weekend to put up a new fence and make a gate.
Blades on the expensive side, and not sure if my old blades fit this one.
If it lasts longer than the first , i’ll be happy.
I tried this saw as soon as it arrived. Even though we had had rain in the morning the saw worked like a dream in the afternoon. I pruned my cherry tree and was very satisfied with the quality of the cut and the ease with which the saw operated in the damp conditions. So easy to insert the type of blade required and to control the speed of cut used.
I couldn’t believe the price. I have seen the poorer quality saw at the same price I paid which included a case specially made for this item.
A purchase of true value.

For the price that I paid for it at the time (35), this was an excellent buy. I’ve not got round to using the jig saw facility yet, but have used the straight cutting saw for quite a few different jobs, and found it performed well. None of them were large jobs, or particularly difficult, I cut about 10 thin wood off-cuts, cut through two or three 4 x 4s, and have made a lot of cuts, (upwards of 70) through 21.5 mm pvc (solvent weld) pipe, and have just had to change the blade the first time. It does sometimes vibrate a bit, but it’s manageable, and I’m a not particularly strong woman. The only thing I don’t like is the safety feature on the on/off switch: you’ve got to depress one button and flip the other switch at the same time, and both are quite stiff to operate, so I find it difficult to do this with one hand. Because I need to hold them with quite a lot of strength for my puny grip, I don’t think it makes it very safe at all, as I’ve found, when needing to let go quickly that I’m holding the saw in such a death-grip that I don’t instinctively let go, but need to consciously make myself let go. So if I needed to quickly stop the blade, say because I was accidentally sawing into my foot, I can see myself taking just that little bit too long. For me, it would be safer if it needed less of a grip to operate, but then it will probably still mostly be men using these, and who’ll probably not have this problem unless their grip is as weak as mine. I find it easy to change the blades, and changing from straight cut to jig saw is also quite straight forward. There’s a little location pin, which needs a flat-head screwdriver to adjust, if it’s not in the correct position, but which normally only needs to be done once. The instructions are basic but sufficient, showing how to change the blade etc, and giving recommended depths for cutting different materials, which are: 100 mm for wood, 3 mm for steel and 50 mm for plastic or pruning branches. So this is not a heavy-duty saw, but good for general DIY jobs around the house and garden. The other drawback with this saw is that only B&D blades will fit, and only those for this particular saw model number. But based on my experience so far, they last a reasonable time, depending on what you’re cutting. If you were cutting lots of really hard and/or thick wood, the blade will probably not last especially long, but you’ll get a good few cuts. I don’t know whether this saw would still be such good value at 15 more than I paid for it, though, so while I’d recommend it, not sure it’s worth 50, compared to others on the market. Suppose it still works out cheaper than buying a reciprocating and a jig saw separately, though, if you need both but one or both only for occasional use – that’s what really made this attractive for me: I will need the jig saw at some point for a job I’ve had planned for ages now, but after that, I might not need one again for a long time, so it didn’t seem worth buying two separate saws for such occasional use. The other thing missing on this is a vacuum attachment for the dust. Otherwise, am really happy with this, and not sure how well those vacuum attachments work anyway, so have still given this 5 stars.

I did have my reservations about this product but I don’t know why. It’s an excellent product. It has saved me a lot of time and no more back breaking using a hand saw. Just wish I bought it sooner.
My second one the last one only lasted 18yrs and that took some punishment.
This is my `go to` saw when needed. Purchased from Amazon in March 2015. Still going strong on the original blade (even though spares were included). Decided to finally leave a review. It’s got through kitchen cabinets, logs for the BBQ, to make shelving out of reclaimed wood, to prune overgrown branches, to remove fencing, etc…..it’s handled everything I’ve thrown at it so far. It feels well made but may be a little heavy in continuous use for some. The case is a bonus to store it but can be a bit of a puzzle to get back in correctly.
Cut a whole 3 story building tree down with this bad boy! Saved my self 400 minus the 57 for the device
As a mature adult, this is a great tool that has helped with a number of DIY jobs. It’s safe when used correctly and easy to use. The immature adult in me loves having a powerful saw I can cut stuff up with
This is no chainsaw, but when you want to maybe cut a piece of firewood in half or hack away at a single branch, it’s much easier to get this out the box, plug in get the job done and tidy away.
Bought it originally to help take out a tree stump, cutting up the roots. Dulled a saw blade, bought some more for a few quid and good as new.
Arrived quickly. Purchased to replace a similar product which finally gave up the ghost after 25years! Added bonus is that it comes with it’s own case. If it last as long as the old one, I will be more than pleased!!
I read the mixed reviews for this product and decided to risk it and I am so glad I did. I have just used it for the first time straight out of the box and it is easy to use. I had a large sheet of wood to saw into manageable pieces to get into my car and take to the local tip. I also had some logs to cut down to get into the green bin. Both tasks were easy. With a gentle sawing action this handsaw had sufficient power to readily and easily do the job. The case is easy to store the saw and the spare drill bits. I am very pleased with my purchase at a very reasonable price. Don’t be put off by the negative reviews!
Purchased to cut fire logs . Some logs we find are far to large for the fireplace so this in the cellar cuts fine with no smell of oil or fumes being electrically operational. Very happy and a good price

Great versatile power saw.
I’m getting on a bit now, approaching 70 and my hand-sawing days are numbered. This device is the answer. easy to use, accurate and gives a good finished cut. plenty of power for bigger jobs as well. Highly recommended.
I bought this item specifically to cut through roots when trying to remove a plant. It made the job easy, in fact I doubt I would have got through such thick roots without it. Now I can see it being useful for all sorts of jobs around the garden that I thought would be very difficult to achieve using manual tools.
The saw works a treat, though some of the blades that were recommended to go with the saw, do not fit. Therefore are a waste of money. The blades that do fit are brilliant and work, do the job.
