Little bit fiddley at first getting the chain rite but once sorted brilliant cuts through the conifer trees like butter managed to cut 12ft off them so a bargain when you think the prices quoted to cut them off companies

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have never owned or used a chainsaw before so nothing to compare it with but I needed to remove a dead tree in the garden and reduce it to convenient logs for our log burner. So I didn’t want to spend a lot and a corded saw would be fine. As usual the assembly instructions are in pictures, a little confusing at first but sorted it out without too much difficulty and there are some written instructions too. I watched a couple of youtube videos on how to use a chainsaw because I know they are potentially lethal, one video particularly helpful. I have now done the job and the saw has performed admirably. You will need to purchase some chainsaw oil which is not provided with the saw.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAll these types of things fail at some stage but if you look after it and don’t force it when cutting, you may get some good mileage out of it, the instructions were way out of date as what you get is not what is in the instructions, at first I thought there was a part missing and sent the first one back, not knowing that the part had completely changed. always top up with oil. do not run it without, and check the chain tension every so often as it will come loose when in use. which is its biggest failing.

The chain saw is nice and good value for money, however I used it once. The 2nd time I wanted to use it again it will not work at all. I’m very unhappy about this and at this moment in time wouldn’t recommend this item to anyone

Bought to replace old B & D refurbished chain saw which has given many years of good service. It is full of safety Feature not on my old one. Which make it easier to use . ie It stops immedietly if the chain jams or breaks ect. I like it but still use it with proper equiptment and safe guardes.

Bought for my husband to cut down some large bushes in our garden. He has used petrol chainsaws in the past and says this is much easier to use. Obviously needs a power source, but if it’s for cutting logs in your garden or garden maintenance it’s ideal. Easy to follow instructions provided. He was dubious about it when I purchased it as he felt it would not be up to the job, he was pleasantly surprised when it arrived as it was a better quality than he expected for the price.

It took me a little while to figure out how to put the chainsaw on. I havent owned a chainsaw before and the instructions weren’t of much help so i watched a YouTube video on chain replacement and then it was simple. No oil comes with this (and i figured as much) so I ordered oil (Oregon chainsaw oil) around the same time. Luckily i did as the saw guzzles oil. I have to saw though that it has already done what i got it for and now i am chopping up blocks of wood

Those is a great chainsaw for domestic use. Having previously used a petrol chainsaw this is so much less hassle, and will never go back to petrol saws again.

Chain was a bit difficult to fit initially, instructions aren’t that great but not enough to be a significant problem.

Once the chain was fitted and oil added you are ready to go. Simple to use, stops immediately when finished cutting, adding the right tension to the chain incredibly easy and visible oil level hugely helpful as it does use more than you think, although not too much to be a problem.

I used it to cut through 20 or 30 large sections of tree trunk up to 35 cm diameter, including yew which is hard wood and it did it with ease, plenty of power without the fuss of a petrol saw. Would recommend using a log stand if doing that much, less strain all round, filled my log store in no time.

    Overall, a great produc

Simple to use, plenty of cutting powe

Use an Echo in the field and this black and decker electrical out back of the house. Had done a great job on tonnes and tonnes of wood and for <100 has saved me thousands

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersGreat Saw – the tension system works well, and to be frank, given its power versus how quiet it is, i wonder why people buy petrol versions that need so much more maintenance for residential use.

With the length of the blade i managed to cut down and log 7 pine trees about 30 feet high without missing a beat, with trunks varying from 20cm to 30cm, the most impressive part was digging up the root a bit and cutting it below the excavated ground where it was close to 40-50cm – again no issues.

The motor never got hot, it drank barely any oil for the whole job (1 tanks worth) and the blade was still sharp to go through the various branches etc that couldnt go through my little electric chipper.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve never used a chainsaw before and taking sensible precautions I found it easy and straightforward to use. This is a great piece of kit and safe as long as you follow the included guidelines. I soaked the chain in oil for over 24 hours before installing onto the bar. It’s a bit fiddly fitting the chain around the groove on the bar and over the drive sprocket but once you’ve done it a few times it becomes easier. In use the one things I found you need to watch out for is not to snag the cable and the bar when cutting a long thick branch. Also a sawhorse is virtually essential for sawing logs to a small length. Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFound the assembly instructions right at the end of the booklet. Still not 100% clear but much better than just the diagrams alone. That said, once assmebled we found the item to be exceptionally good at it’s main purpose.
It cut through several small trees, with a diameter of approx 5 inches, without any problem. Would highly recommend.

Received today but no written instructions on such a potentially dangerous item!! The diagrams received were ambiguous, to say the least.

Ordered this machine on Thursday, got it the next day, Good quality and well packed. Cut 4 medium trees down, logged and burnt. Theis saw is well up to the job and easy to use as long as you take note of all the safety advice. I particularly like the chain tensioning device, one of the best I’ve come accross. Regarding spare chains, you not onle require the correct size but also the pitches (62 links) must match. Amazon supplied spares for me ref no Oregon 91P 62 LINKS.you need to sharpen regularly so keep a spare.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersGood value for money, easy to use especially the tool less chain adjuster. Like the way the chain stops immediately you take your finger off the trigger. Can be safely used indoors, no petrol motor fumes. Only one thing I would like to see changed would be the length of the electric motor protruding to the left, funny balance compared to petrol saw. Larger diameter but shorter motor would be much better. Still very happy with the product.
By the way all the nonsense reviews regarding not cutting well, it’s not a toy, you have to have some idea what you are doing if you are going to use a chain saw, the chain and bar are used on many different saws worldwide with no problems.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersI wasn’t sure when I ordered this chainsaw if the quality would be good enough. It certainly is!
I normally use one of 2 petrol chainsaws but chopping up logs for firewood is quite a chore with the petrol saws I have.
This is great, just plug it in and away you go.
Very good quality chain supplied – I have cut about 2 tonnes of wood so far and the chain appears as sharp as it was when it was delivered.
Hardly uses any oil and is nicely balanced.
I would recommend this chainsaw to anyone looking for an easy to use tool.

Being a ‘Domestic’ chainsaw I was initially dubious about its build quality., BUT I guess a chainsaw is not the place to skimp on safety, it’s seems well built and employs most of the features of a professional chainsaw.. At 12m/s it’s quick to cut and is far quieter than a petrol equivalent. It also sports an official Oregon bar and chain. A nice package at a reasonable price from Black and Decker.

Was concerned that it wouldn’t have the power to do the job but needn’t have worried. I also have a two-stroke powered chainsaw that I use for the biggest jobs but the electric one is so much easier to set up for the shorter jobs. Its also a lot quieter so the neighbours are happier. The chain tensioner is much easier to use and a loose chain can be tightened in a couple of minutes.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersHaving just returned from Australia where I was using two Stihl petrol chainsaws for some fairly serious work, I was astounded to find just how good this electric one was.

Two 10m high and very broad conifers needed to come down in a very confined space in my ‘renovation’ garden. The base of the trunks were about 45cm diameter. You will see from the pictures just how much cutting was involved, and they do not show all the timber. I was quoted a considerable sum to remove the trees so invested in this unit, based on reviews and internet research, choosing electric over petrol simply because of the cleanliness and noise issue, being in a built-up area.

Assembly of the chain bar and chain to the body was quick and simple.

Compared with a petrol-powered unit, it is not as fast, but cut through heavy timber with real ease and complete confidence, including full blade cuts across the bases of the trunks once the tree was down. It is very close to the same weight as a comparable Stihl petrol unit, and comfortable in use

Even after both trees were down and the trunks cut to manageable lengths, there was no sign of slowing down or the chain needing sharpening. For this long task, the oil use was about one full tank.

The chain did need the usual early adjustment as it settled in, but no more than expected.

I have been very impressed by the power, capability and apparent build quality of this Black and Decker unit. I can recommend it with confidence, based on my experience thus far.

NB I paid full price for this item, have not received reward in any form for writing this review, and have no connection whatsoever with the manufacturer or seller.

    Without reservation...Buy this chainsaw!

Quality electric chainsaw. My only concern is that it doesn’t seem to use much chain oil. Very powerful and stops instantly once you take your finger off the trigger. This was my first chainsaw and I went with electric because of the noise of a petrol saw. I’ve been cross cutting logs at about 12″ dia, which takes a bit of time and patience, but it gets the job done.

Golden Review Award: 35 From Our UsersThis is a gutsy saw which cut through a 7 1/2 inch trunk in 20 seconds and a 12 1/2 inch trunk in 42 seconds. It is easy to handle and appears to be safe in operation as the chain stops immediately one releases the trigger (even though the motor runs on a bit, it is at that point not connected to the chain). The separate assembly instructions were terrible, best to ignore them and use intuition. After I assembled the saw, I noticed in the main instruction manual that one is supposed to soak the chain in oil prior to assembly. It was too late by then so I just drizzled oil over the chain.

The saw was also effective in rip mode, cutting with the grain rather than the usual mode of cross cutting. However in rip mode the chips produced are different, being much longer slivers of timber rather than the usual small chips. These slivers got caught up in the chain drive sprocket and needed to be cleared out. I do have a concern with the saw being an ex-user of a petrol chainsaw, that is that the amount of chain oil it uses is tiny, about a teaspoonful in half an hour. A petrol chainsaw would use about half a cupful in that time. I am concerned that the chain is seriously under-lubricated. Only time will tell and I have not had the saw long enough to know. Summarizing, powerful, effective and easy to use, on the negative side, unusable assembly instructions and concern about chain lubrication. Attached is a picture of a trunk the chainsaw cut up into logs with great ease and efficiency.

It is easy to handle and appears to be safe in operation ...

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersGood product. Easy to assemble. Very powerful and cuts through tree branches very well. There is safety lever (black handle to the front which doubles as hand guard) which I hadn’t realised how it worked. So I knocked it on in error and then spent half an hour wondering why it didn’t work. Once I sussed this it is a good safety feature.

Made my tree trimming job dead easy – getting the right tools is worth it!
Recommend helmet with visor as an important safety aspect as quite a bit of sawdust created and and falling or whipping branches are a risk to eyes etc

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersI’ve been using chainsaws for 50 yrs. This for an electric saw is in my opinion is one of the best. I’ve cut tree trunks 2ft+ in diameter with it with ease. Excellent. If you can’t get it to work its you.

I did not receive the oil it says is included with the item. Everything as far as I know is ok but I cannot try it without oil.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersThis chainsaw met my needs exactly. I wanted the longer blade model as I had some large trees to fell. Cutting was easy and after a few adjustments with the tension knob , it hardly needed tensioning again. I have had the smaller B&D chainsaw but this is better on all counts.
Make sure it is well oiled especially when storing for long time. Assembly is easy and instructions are simple. Delivery was as expected.
